I need a moment to appreciate that Crowley wanted to hear Cas' side. I'm talking about the famous Cas offering Crowley honey. But before that Crowley said "what do you have to say for yourself?"

And yeah it's such a simple question. By itself it doesn't mean much. But in context giving Cas an open ended question to give him more freedom with his explanation is everything

Listen, in the earlier episode TMWWBK, Dean doesn't ask Cas "why?" He says "Please tell me you aren't working with Crowley?!" He doesn't give Cas an open ended question so Cas can explain himself fully. Cas can only counter each individual accusation against him. He isn't given the freedom to start from the beginning

It really is meaningful that Crowley gives Cas an open ended question, and it's also sad that it's meaningful, as it's only meaningful because of how TFW treats Cas

What makes the scene even more heartwarming is Crowley is known for his temper. But while Cas is monologuing about bees, Crowley is oddly patient. He is patient because he actually cares what Cas has to say for himself. Crowley could have said "I don't bloody care about bees! Apologize!" But instead he wanted to understand Cas' point of view "what are you talking about?" Crowley said

And damn does Crowley have a soft spot for Cas. He doesn't want vengeance on Cas while he is vulnerable. Crowley says it's because it wouldn't be fun ( because Cas can't fight back. ) But Crowley also tortures people who can't fight back. Like someone not being able to fight back isn't going to stop Crowley. So he does have a soft spot for Cas, because lbr since when has Crowley ever cared about whether anyone was able to fight back or not?

And wow Cas' apology is so meaningful 🥺 He genuinely feels bad for hurting Crowley. He wants Crowley to feel better. Look to Crowley it's just honey. The apology doesn't mean much to Crowley because he doesn't care about honey and okay fair lol

But to Cas that honey is an amazing miracle that he wants to give to Crowley and Cas believes he is giving Crowley the most incredible gift like that apology token isn't Cas being flippant of Crowley's feelings. It was the amazing miracle honey he collected himself 🥹

Except he doesn't want Aziraphale to think he's doing something 'nice' so when the meal arrives he always pretends he doesn't like it after the first bite and pushes his plate over to a delighted and perhaps a little smug-looking angel whose plan all along has just come together

genuinely if i were in crowley’s position i would not have been able to go 6000 years without saying anything. like yeah yeah survival and all that but if someone i knew for that long kept looking at me like That i would not have been able to pretend it wasn’t happening

My hot take of 4 a.m.:

Look, I’m the first and foremost supporter of Crowley acting all snaky, almost verging on temptation, on Aziraphale in the godfathers scene, but… it may be both? 

For comparison:

LOOK AT THE EYEBROWS.

Hear me out: this is 2008. They’re equal by this point, no matter what will happen in eleven years when things will precipitate. In 2008 they’re close, comfortable around each other. We’ve seen Crowley do favours to Aziraphale and generally spoiling the angel, but Aziraphale has been putting up with him just as well, right? We know he has been loving Crowley for a while, consciously or not. He adores him.

Also, I recall Neil Gaiman mentioning that although we mostly see Crowley saving Aziraphale in the cold open of episode 3, there have been instances through history where Aziraphale has saved Crowley. So, it’s a small stretch of imagination to think that there could be as well instances off screen when Crowley has asked for something (something minor, imo) and performed those big cute boopable-snake eyes on Aziraphale to make the angel humour him.

tl;dr: Crowley pulled an Aziraphale and went all doe on him to convince him to work together, and the angel caved in immediately.

Aziraphale waited patiently in the shallows of the dropoff near the shore of his post on the Eastern Side of the Lake, fidgeting with his ring as the sun rose higher in the sky. He cast anxious glances behind him to scan the area, both for any potential intruders (which were rare) and any visitors from his colony (equally as rare). His side of the Lake went practically forgotten, but one could never be too careful. A flicker of a shadow over head caught Aziraphale's attention, head whipping around to scrutinize the surface.

The pale merman could just make out a shadow near the edge of the shore, and suddenly his anxiety washed away, tension easing from his shoulders. He reached out invitingly towards the shadow, fingers brushing the surface. He didn't need to wait long before there was a splash and his vision was suddenly obscured by a slew of bubbles. Aziraphale remained calm, even as a massive figure descended in front of him, even as they latched clawed fingers around his neck. He reciprocated in fact, reaching a confident hand out to cup a sharp jawline. The bubbles cleared just enough for him to catch a glimpse of golden eyes framed by a shock of red hair before he slid his own blues closed, leaning into the gentle kiss on his lips.

Crowley hummed as he leaned into his touch, claws tugging him forward ardently. Aziraphale obliged him, leaning further into the kiss with a sigh. He wished they didn't need to rush all the time, that they didn't have to fret about getting caught.

Fueled partly by his regret (and a hint of mischief), Aziraphale boldly pressed a tongue forward, slipping between the seam of Crowley's lips to press against his pearly whites.

Crowley growled a warning and he teased over one of his fangs - Aziraphale chuckled but relented, withdrawing for now. Crowley always worried about possibly invenomating him, though Aziraphale assured him that it was unlikely, implicitly showing Crowley how much he trusted him. No, he insisted it even. Regardless, he didn't want to spend what little time they already had together pushing his buttons.

This was so closed to not getting done before May I swear...

Seriously would you believe me if I said this was started at the beginning of the month? Yeah I got heavily distracted.

But I finally got it done! Hurrah!!!

I do have their designs somewhere on paper, but I'll have post them later once I clean them up.

In a roughly parallel universe, Demon Aziraphale tempts Angel Crowley to a little vacation, and they find their way to a bookshop in a familiar place inhabited by familiar faces. Crowley (both of them) would like to stop this nonsense before it can start, but Aziraphale's curiosity wins out, and they spend a day together that ends up being loaded with little revelations (but not, thankfully, any Revelations).

omg just remembered i got this one from a writing prompt tumblr but it won't leave my brain 😭 possibly a pwp because i'm so stuck on the prompt i can't think of how to flesh it out more

aziraphale and crowley are neighbours, never actually spoken tho (crowley is very Severe, don't make eye contact)

but one night, far too late to be decent, crowley knocks on aziraphale's door. he looks an absolute mess, hair all fucked up and mascara only half removed, he's wearing satin pyjama bottoms underneath a super tight rucked up little dress. and he is completely breathless.

but before aziraphale can even ask if he's okay ("do you need me to call someone????? the police? your mum maybe???") crowley's like "I CANNOT GET THIS ZIPPER UNDONE, PLEASE."

anyway he'd invite him inside out of the cold, wrangle the jammed zipper down the back of the dress, probably near-discorporate from every inch of skin that's slowly revealed until crowley just whips the whole bitch off when it's undone. maybe sits down while aziraphale offers him some water and something to eat, but by the time aziraphale comes back, he's fallen asleep on the couch, and gets the mercy/mortification of waking up shirtless at the hot angel's place
