Some help please
Tumblr media
I took this picture back in 2017. I had permission from the woman who owns the shawl and unfortunately when I asked for a pattern she said it was a gift. I have searched FOR YEARS for this pattern. It’s not your typical granny square or willow granny square. And I have no experience with making items without a pattern of some sort. If anyone knows who made this or what the pattern is I would greatly appreciate the help. Please and thank you!

I fucked up big time, crochet style
So I’m making a lovey for my niece to give to her when she’s born. I chose a lovely soft brown yarn from my stash for this, and did not think I would need more than one skein (mistake 1), so I didn’t even think to check where I could buy it (mistake 2). I’m more than halfway through and about to run out. So I look it up, and lo and behold:
Turns out I’m using a discontinued Bernat line, and cannot find any being resold on Etsy or eBay.
So I guess my question is:
Does anyone know of a good match for Bernat Satin yarn? Specifically in the color sable?
Thanks, I will owe you my life

Would anyone be able to share some wisdom about ergonomic crochet hooks and other ways to avoid pain while crocheting?
I've got a friend who's interested in learning to crochet but is a bit worried about hurting their hands (they have some preexisting joint problems). It's not something I know a lot about so if anyone has any advice please let me know

Question: Crochet help
Tumblr media
When I go one row up, I close the previous round with a slip knot, and then 1 sc
This scar remains. It’s not super visible but it bothers me.
Any good videos out there how to fix that? I do not really know how to explain this problem to a search machine
Please don’t ask me why it is curved. Every YouTube tutorial has a straight „scar“ (I have the right amount of stitches)

Hey crocheting tumblr, I picked up the basic-bitch “I taught myself to crochet” kit last night. My friend taught me some basics two weeks ago but I’ve basically forgotten it all because I can’t visualize shit (hell yeah aphantasia, or damn close to it at least), but I have a book now, so it’s cool. My fiber art of choice is cross-stitch, but I figure it might be worth expanding my gayness into other forms of handicrafts and seeing if they’re fun. Might end up making some little vidja-game dolls or something if this works out.
what do you wish you’d known when you started crocheting?

In terms of visuals my tea cozy looks cute thus far. I haven't done any top ribbing yet but its already too wide for my usual teapot. Based off of this picture:

this looks like the easiest thing ever to make, but I don't feel like I have a good enough grasp on the theory of crochet to do it correctly by winging it... could anyone give me some tips on how I might be able to crochet this beanie???

I'm going to my first fiber fest tomorrow! Help me pick out patterns and decide what to buy!
I've been crocheting for about 3 years now and feel like I'm at a solid intermediate skill level now, which means I'm going to treat myself to some fancy yarns! I've done some looking online at hand dyed yarn and am feeling quite overwhelmed honestly. There are so many dyers and yarn bases and color combinations, and I have no idea what will look good crocheted. Most of the swatches of hand dyed yarn are knit and crochet eats up so much yarn that I have no idea how the yarn would look in a crocheted project, so I'm feeling a bit lost! Should I go for stripes? Speckles? Gradients? Tonals? I just don't know!
I'd really love to make a shawl/wrap in hand dyed wool, but am struggling with finding a pattern so I know how much yarn to buy tomorrow. Does anyone have any crochet shawl patterns that will look good with hand dyed yarn? I'm open to working with anything from fingering to worsted weight and feel pretty confident with most stitches. I would prefer something that doesn't have large sections of open work or lace, but I will conquer crocheted lace if there's a pattern out there that would shine with a hand dyed yarn. I'm also pretty confident with Tunisian crochet and have been eyeing a few shawl patterns from TL Yarncraft recently.
Any recommendations for yarn or patterns is greatly appreciated!
Here are the patterns I've been considering, but I cannot for the life of me decide which one to buy for. Please help!

hey crocheters of tumblr i think there’s an issue in this pattern i bought and i haven’t heard back from the pattern designer when asking for help so i am crowdsourcing help
Tumblr media
from what i can tell, the maths in this isn’t going to work out because this is a suzette stitch swatch and that only works over odd numbers of stitches (fsc is foundation single crochet, so it’s not an issue of chaining).
how do i carry out this essential gauge swatch? do i use 17 or 19 stitches as a base instead of 18 and just work it up like that?
also, for the thing about the chart, is that just saying that 16 stitches should be 4" and just measure 16 stitches of my swatch?

Hey sooooo I've been doing crochet for less than two weeks (already obsessed, might create another blog for it) but alsooooo
Tumblr media
What does it meeeeean with "do not join"???
i realise now that this little kit I'm doing might not be for beginners....
For reference, the pictures that are mentioned in the instructions:
Tumblr media
It's a whale btw. His name is Splashy.
Picture 2 looks pretty joined to me unless I'm misunderstanding what joining means??
And I'm not sure how all of these rounds of sc result in what's shown in image 3
Any crochet masters out there?!

Crochet community, please answer a question for me.... how did ya'll learn when all the tutorials I've found are dogshit. Like no hate to these people, I dont think they realize where they're lacking in their videos but damn, they suck pretty bad a lot of the time.
Like seriously, so many people will title things as "easy" or "beginner" but don't explain terminology at all. Or they go fast... all the time. Like if I'm a beginner I need snails pace to actually be able to see what's going on so I can understand exactly what I'm doing. Just going slow compared to what you're used to is not enough, it needs to be EXTREMELY slow.
.......This frustration may have to do with me following my first pattern and immediately needing to learn to treble crochet into a magic circle... which I can't because nobody seems to show clear enough how to do that.
Like where do I hold the circle the keep its shape EXACTLY. Show me specifically what threads and why. How do you get that first chain after the circle done so easily? And then, how do I actually treble into the damn circle?
Im totally not frustrated crying rn after trying over and over and over and over and.....
