Hello! I've to come back into your timelines to show you a new grammar point for deciding to do something!
Ex) I went home = I decided to go home
This gives you more variety of to do something in a way. I only learnt this 10mins ago and I already love it honestly lol.
Lets start!
Formula: Verb stem + 기로 하다 (Past tense)
Meaning: To decide to __
Examples 1)
하다 = to do 하 + 기로 하다 = 하기로 하다 하기로 했어요 = decided to do
2) 놓치다 = To miss 놓치 + 기로 하다 = 놓치기로 하다 놓치기로 했어요 = decided to miss
3) 닫다 = To close 닫 + 기로 하다 = 닫기로 하다 닫기로 했어요 = decided to close
You can make the point of 'deciding to do something' more direct if you use 기로 결정하다. 결정하다 means 'to decide'. 기로 결장하다 and 기로 하다 have the SAME meaning. Ex) 열다 = To open 열 + 기로 결정하다 = 열기로 결정하다 열기로 결정했어요 = decided to open
공부하다 = To study 공부하 + 기로 결정하다 = 공부하기로 결정하다 공부하기로 결정했어요 = decided to study
Sample sentences!
1) 저는 집에 가기로 했어요. = I decided to go home.
2) 저는 심리학을 공부하지 않기로 했어요. = I decided not to study psychology.
3) 저는 컴퓨터를 사기로 결정했어요. = I decided to buy a computer.
4) 오늘 커피를 마시기로 했어요. = I decided to drink coffee today.

를/을 Meaning and usage!
안녕하세요 여러분! Welcome to my first offical post for korean learning and I hope to get far with this account~! Let's get cracking! 를/을 These one syllable things are particles that you attach to an object in a sentence. They also MARK the object of the sentence. Ex) I study korean = 저는 한국어를 공부해요 Here, '한국어' is the object of this sentence so we can add 를/을! More examples 1. 이 노래를 너무 좋어해요. = I like this song. ('노래' is the object of the sentence). 2. 그 김치를 맛없어요. = That kimchi is not tasty. ('김치' is the object that is marked). Consonant ending words: 을 Vowel ending words: 를 This small lesson wraps it up for today and I hope this kinda of clarified some things with 를/을. Next time i'll be back and blog about 는/은! 감사합니다! -루나
