Happy Wednesday, y’all! This was written as a little warmup today before working on my Actual WIP. My actual WIP is handwritten so I’m sharing this instead. It belongs to a breakup era story that’s been in my head for a long time and is apparently creeping onto the page 😅

TK returned to his father’s house that night, let himself in with his key, and stepped into a lulling cacophony of music and laughter, of Judd’s voice from the living room, drawling loud through some story, amused in its determination to be heard above the stilted laughter of his companions. Grace’s laughter, Tommy’s laughter, his father’s.

TK was made of scraped edges that night, every path leading back to his self-broken heart. It sat in his chest, throbbing and pulpy. He dug his nails into his palms. Their joy burned acrid at the back of his throat, stuck there like something he couldn’t expel, something that wouldn’t pry loose from the soft flesh of his palette no matter how hard he tongued at its shape. These sounds used to be comforting, familiar. These sounds were once concordant with home. But Carlos didn’t live there anymore. TK had flung them into some alternate dimension in which Carlos would collect his belongings in the morning, and nobody in the next room knew this yet. He let the door fall shut on its own, always too loud when it did. He didn’t have the energy to ease it closed.

“TK?” Came his fathers’ voice. “Is that you?”

Not really, TK wanted to say, because it wasn’t. He didn’t feel like himself anymore, already didn’t know who he was. But the words felt dramatic and cruel in his chest, so instead he scrubbed a hand down his face and then into up into the mess of his hair. He gathered a fist of it for something to hold onto, and willed himself to find adequate words.

“Hi sweetheart,” Grace called.

“Come join us, son,” his father added.

From Judd he received a simple and jovial, “Hey, kiddo.”

These people loved him. He felt it even through the walls of this house. In the end that love struck him badly in his chest and he knew that he didn’t deserve it. He hadn’t just broken his own heart tonight. He’d broken Carlos’s too. Carlos had cried, voice splintering as he’d begged TK to stay. He’d followed him down from the top floor apartment and pled all the way down the stairs. He asked what he’d done wrong, begged TK to help him understand. Five tall floors and then out into the rain, chests heaving, TK’s blood whirring dangerously through his ears. He’d thrown his arms up, yelled something, couldn’t remember what it was anymore. But he saw it when he glanced over his shoulder in the midst of his storming away. One last glance at the man he adored, who lost energy for the chase and stood, devastated, in the parking lot. He’d simply let out a sob.

TK had broken Carlos Reyes’s heart. He couldn’t stand to be looked at with fondness.

5x03 Tarlos Coda

TK's exhausted from the day, and he's grateful Carlos is driving them home. He rests his head against his seat and dozes as they move through the quiet streets back to their loft.

TK loves and hates living so to downtown Austin. Being close to the nightlife, restaurants, and coffee shops is great, but after a long day he wishes for the quiet neighborhood where he lived with his father.

He feels Carlos' hand on his shoulder and he opens his eyes to see they're in the parking garage of their building. Carlos gives him a small smile and says, "Let's get you upstairs."

The elevator ride is quiet and the swoosh of the loft door opening is a welcomed relief. TK drops his bag at the door and toes off his shoes before walking over to Lou's tank to say hello.

He's too exhausted to take Lou out and rub his back like he likes to do after a shift to let Lou know he's the best boy.

He makes it to the bedroom and sits on the end of the bed before it becomes to much. The adrenaline wore off long ago and what's left is the very real emotions that he almost died. He sees the tears fall onto the floor more then feels them and he can't help the sob that leaves his lips.

He feels Carlos put his arms around him and he leans into his husband.

"I've got you," Carlos whispers into his ear, "I've got you."

He doesn't know how long he cries but his throat is raw and his eyes hurt from the tears.

"I'm sorry," he whispers and wipes at his eyes.

"For what?" Carlos asks.

"Getting snot on your shirt," TK replies, "I don't know where that came from."

"You had a big day."

"I didn't think we were going to make it," TK confesses, "We were in this classroom and there was no way out. Nancy had covered all the windows and we used our jackets to cover the cracks under the door but it wasn't enough. I had to sit there and listen to Tommy tell Wyatt her safe lock combo and to tell Judd to take care of her girls. We weren't supposed to make it out."

Carlos' arms tighten around his husband.

"I thought some stupid little room fan was going to help keep the gas out. I was so scared," TK continues on, "Then as fast it came it over. The wind changed and we were safe."

Carlos kisses the top of head, "I was scared too. I had to pretend like everything was okay for the girls, but I was checking my phone every 5 seconds for updates."

"I can't imagine," TK says, "I'm sorry for making you worry."

"Life of being married to a first responder," Carlos replies.

TK chuckles at that. He pulls away from Carlos' arms and sits up. He wipes at his eyes again, "I'm exhausted."

"Let's get you into bed," Carlos says. He stands up and grabs TK's hands to pull him up with him. He pulls at TK's shirt to get it over his head. His hands go down to unbutton TK's jeans and then pushes them to the floor. He bends down to kneel and take off TK's socks next.

TK just stands there and let's Carlos take care of him. He's too sleepy to do much else. Carlos pushes him over to his side of the bed and pulls the duvet up to let TK settle into bed. TK curls onto his side and his eyes close once his head hits the pillow.

Carlos pulls up the covers and TK cuddles into the sheets more.

Carlos makes quick work of his clothes and gets into the other side of the bed. He curls onto his side and he feels TK move around until he's close enough that Carlos reaches out and pulls him close. He holds his husband close and breathes in his scent as he falls asleep.

oooh good question. typically my answer depends entirely on the fic i'm writing and just. what makes the most sense for the scenario, so i don't see any of them as hard and fast subs or doms bc that's the joy of fanfic. *but* if i'm ignoring ships and just headcanoning based solely on the characters themselves, these are my thoughts-

Bruce Wayne: dom/top. it's the boring answer, but it's the true one. that man demands complete control of every situation and i think that extends to his wants and needs during sex. sex can be a lot like fighting in the way you take control.

Dick Grayson: switch, but i think he prefers bottoming whether he's the dom or the sub. he'll top if his partner prefers that, bc his nature is to be a giver. but he prefers bottoming and really enjoys getting to ride his partner.

Jason Todd: sub/bottom. listen. in fic 90% of the time, i *will* write him as the dom bc i *love* him as a mean dom. but Judd Winick did not tell us that Jason Todd cries during sex just for us all to make him an emotionless dom. he insists he's a dom and will dom, but deep down, he's a sub. i think he both wants soft praising sex and fucked up CNC shit, just for different reasons.

Tim Drake: dom/bottom. power bottom Tim. that's the whole headcanon. much like Bruce, i think Tim needs control in sex. i'm obsessed with him being fucked but still having *complete* control of the other person. controlling when they get to come, how they fuck him, etc. it just. suits him.

Damian Wayne: i can really see Damian go either way. but given i'm a fan of Damian having a mommy kink, i think my answer is sub and vers. he talks big game but he folds like a house of cards the minute you get your hands on him.

He can still hear it—the anguished cries of a little girl wanting a mother that’s not here anymore. She doesn’t know that. She doesn’t understand that she’s not coming back, but the rest of them can’t forget it. Judd. Judd can’t forget it.

What’s even more haunting than Charlie’s cries was seeing him. The sunlight poured through the tall windows and put a spotlight on his tearful face. He had two armfuls of a little girl and a heart heavy with grief. Carlos can’t forget the first sob that broke free from Judd’s mouth, or the way Charlie tapped his face, innocently asking, “Daddy, what’s wrong?”

The funeral was weeks ago and Carlos can still hear it.

He doesn’t know how Judd can do that. He’d never have that strength.

“Babe?”

Carlos inhales, blinking back to the present. TK stands in front of him. His husband, whose shoulders are heavy with the weight of even more loss in their lives, but is otherwise healthy and whole and here.

EESHU HOW ARE YOU DOING AFTER THIS EPISODE??? i’m very torn because it was amazing and soft in a lot of scenes, i love me some judd screen time and i love that we are finally getting to see what this situation is doing to him, i love seeing tnt together like that and i loved carlos getting his closure, talking to his dad, accepting that he’s ready to live on and that doesn’t mean he’s forgetting his dad, and that he’s ready to take jonah in and be a dad himself. and i loved that tk was there to support him.

but also, there were so many plot holes in this ep i needed to rewind a few times just to catch up. i know it’s the last season and they’ve got a limited number of episodes and they need to give everyone a good closure, but how about we give this huge ass plot twist at least two episodes?? how about we give carlos finally finding his father’s killer a little more screen time that just those 10 minutes? how about we get to see tk’s reaction to carlos being shot in the chest?? how about we get at least a conversation between carlos and tk, be it a fight about carlos not wanting to adopt jonah and tk leaving him or be it a reconciliation after the whole shooting situation. like that comment tk made about choosing jonah over carlos was very random, it felt like it was just thrown in there. and then i cried so much during that last scene with carlos talking to his dad, but even then, what happened in between that comment from tk and that last scene?? we were missing so much information this time, i really felt like the plot holes were too much

i really hope that with those three episodes left we really do get some closure for everyone, and i hope it won’t be as rushed as this episode was. because it really was thrilling and beautiful, but it also lacked so much of what makes 911 lone star.

I’m right there with you. This episode left me with mixed feelingsss.

I loved Carlos’s storyline. Absolutely loved the plot twist in the end. It not being Campbell—it slapped. I always considered the chief being the insider and I’m so glad the show went that one. Always appreciate how the reason was something as simple as money—because that’s usually the root cause of this kind of thing—money. I love that it wasn’t something more complicated than that. It felt real. And when Carlos realised that he still feels as broken—I felt that. We all saw this coming and it happened anyway. That’s how grief works. So all in all, I’m 100% satisfied with Carlos/Gabriel’s arc.

Now coming to Tarlos, this episode was just bad when it comes to them. Idc the reason, time limitations or whatever —it was done poorly. If they had the time to include a 10 second scene of TK considering the very real possibility of divorce from Carlos, then they had time to show a 10 second resolution clip. A hug in the end was just not enough. I’m usually okay with off screen resolutions tbh when it’s an ensemble cast but this storyline deserved better than that. Additionally, it could also be because I’m against the whole magically fixing the ‘parent’ situation in a show for a happy ending thing.

I’m hoping though that episode 11 will fix some of this itch I’m feeling currently lol

This particular subject is just not for me and this post is going to be more about my headcannons that I've based on canon events as well as my own opinion of jason todd.

So, I've seen an increase in a particular kind of jason content, mostly fueled by like 1 or 2 specific users, portraying jason as this real rough, dominant dude who likes to degrade and choke during sex. I don't really like blocking people, but I might have to block these users. Don't get me wrong, they're not doing anything wrong, it just makes me uncomfortable, personally, as someone who's not into choking or stuff like that. and they don't put the read more line so you kind of have to see it when you're scrolling. I also find it completely inaccurate. Like the people requesting these and writing these looked at one or two images of jason but don't really know anything about the character themselves. So, I'm gonna put some of my own headcannons as someone who has studied this dude for a few years now:

First, Judd Winnick has confirmed over Twitter that jason cries during sex. Now obviously, judd winnick doesn't own Jason and many writers have their own interpretation, but winnick is basically the father and creator of post resurrection Jason and kind of set the blueprint for his behaviors, beliefs, etc. So for that reason, when he posts his own headcannons about jason, I feel more obligated (if that's the right word) to kind of accept it as canon, even when it's really not.

It also just makes sense. It's not as widely talked about, but it's very normal and natural to cry after an orgasm. Sex for a lot of people is considered a very intimate act and an orgasm is like an explosion of pleasure. It can be a little much for people, especially those who haven't experienced it alot, and some people (like myself) don't always know how to handle that much stimulus and feeling all at once and crying is a normal reaction to that. And jason is someone who's not the most intimate person.

Second, I feel like Jason is inexperienced. A lot of these blurbs have him knowing exactly what to do, what spots to hit, totally experienced and "professional". We're talking about a guy who spent 12 years in poverty, 3 years as robin while also being in school, dead, and then training with the league while battling mental illness, ptsd, brain damage, etc. And then in under the red hood, he's very focused on his plan. Even after that in general, he's with the outlaws, on a case, you name it. Dude is always busy with something work wise. I don't see him having a lot of time and energy to be fucking enough to not be awkward.

Speaking of awkward, I've always headcannoned that dude has ZERO rizz. All the reasons I mentioned above, he's probably super socially awkward. That dude is definitely terrible at dirty talk like the stuff I see in those blurbs. I mean, even Isabel has canonically said jason is not a very good kisser.

Third, I DOUBT he's into choking or being rough. All the abuse and shit he's been through, i headcannon that he is more like the opposite. It's intimate, relaxed, soft, etc. He can get a little intense, but not rough or anything.

He's probably actually what some would consider "boring". Pretty standard missionary stuff, maybe sometimes he's getting ridden , probably has oral and stuff, but he does not strike me as a kinky guy

Dude also probably has a normal average dick. I've seen some "8 inches" type shit. Really? 8 inches? I don't remember exactly what the average is in the us, but I'm pretty sure it's like 5 or 6inches.

I can't explain this one, but it's a pretty common headcannon for no real reason, but the vibes, jason is an ass and thighs man. Enough said.

As much as I'd love to think he's the kind of guy who loves spooning and all that, I feel like he's actually the opposite. Bare minimum aftercare kind of stuff and then he's back in his own head again.

Tag Game: Grief

(1) Which character death in 911 Lone Star hit you the hardest?

In terms of shock and the events in the aftermath, it had to be Gabriel. Watching Carlos break down the way he did, seeing how differently he dealt with his grief compared to the way TK shut down after Gwyn's death, it had me crying until the very end.

However, I think I cried the most after Charles' death. One Day is one of those episodes I always come back to because it's just guaranteed to make me cry. Seeing Tommy hold it together all episode only to finally break down in the end? Seeing the way Grace and Judd fall apart when they put the pieces together while watching Tommy's kids? I don't think any character death is topping the way this one broke me.

(2) What is your favorite grief-related moment in the show?

There's so many! Tommy's grief group. Owen and Andrea talking about Gwyn and Gabriel before the wedding, even if that was a deleted scene. Everyone dealing with their grief surrounding Tim's death in their own way in 2x02. Tommy finally breaking down in 2x13. Owen's talk with Carlos about obsession.

My favorite probably has to be Owen's dream in 3x18. He's been carrying around so much guilt and trauma up until that point and it's been eating him alive, but he was finally able to see that continuing to hold onto that guilt isn't helping him. It's hurting him. In a way, he was finally able to let go of a lot of things (his brother's death, his family falling apart, 9/11, the mistakes he made with TK, Gwyn's death, etc) which is one of the hardest steps to take in the grief process. It doesn't mean he'll forget, it just means he can move forward and live with a little more peace in his heart.

(3) Do you think there will be a character death in season 5? If so, any guesses about who it might be?

If there is, I don't think it would be any of the main characters. A minor character death can be impactful in many different ways though, and I wouldn't put it past lone star to kill off someone we would least expect, so we'll see!

(4) Which living character's death would destroy you the most?

Probably Owen. I say that because killing off TK or Carlos is just not an option and I think we're all in agreement that they're off limits. Owen's death would make a lot of sense at some point down the line. After he's finally found the peace he's been looking for and gets to see his son thrive in his job and with his soulmate. Once Owen has nothing left to worry about, killing him off would make a lot of sense and still be devastatingly tragic at the same time.

(5) Which character's childhood trauma do you think was most significant in shaping them?

All of these characters have such unique backgrounds that it's kind of hard to try and compare traumas (and that's not something I like to do) so instead I'm going to say in terms of time, it would be Owen. His trauma has been accumulating longer than most of the rest of these characters have been alive, and the longer you live with something without properly dealing with it, the more it will bring you down. You could also say Judd because like Owen, he has a lot of childhood guilt and trauma as well as some recent trauma. It makes sense why these two ended up being such close friends. They understand each other in that sense.
