== Love Notes ==
Hey there lovelies. Gosh, I can't believe it's been a week. I have to give it up to the ofmd fan crew cause they do week long reports and oh my god is it exhausting. I tip my hat to you lovely folks for all the work you did for so long with weeklong updates. Tonight, I wish I had more in me so I could properly express myself. I am so very grateful for all of you wonderful crewmates who have been patient, and kind and supportive over the past week to me. It's been a lot, and I try to keep people up to date, but I also try not to go too crazy cause it's a lots of heavy stuff going on (not just with me, with everyone on a personal level, with the world, etc), so whether you left passing hugs, or a kind word, I just want you to know you are so very incredibly appreciated and it means so much to me. So please accept so many hugs coming your way from me, and some ghostly forehead kisses.
Tumblr media
Sometimes life hits us with some of the absolute craziest shit, and you know what helps get us through it? Each other. A hug, or a kind word makes a world of difference. Someone checking on you, or reminding you to drink water, it can honestly save someone's life/sanity and it kept me going this week. So please know that you make such an amazing difference, in my life and so many others. <3
But also, please remember. if you need support too, reach out, I know sometimes it's hard to ask for help, but we're here for you <3. We only have this one life, and there's no use going through it alone. Love you so much crew, thank you again for being such a wonderful group of kind hearted, compassionate folks. I am so honored to know so many of you <3.

[ENG translation] Joker Out after performing at Sziget: This is a dream come true for us
This article was written by Katja Kaja Mejač and published on the 12th of August 2024 on the Njena.si website. Translated by @kurooscoffee, @chaosofsmarty and a member of JokerOutSubs, review by @weolucbasu, English proofreading by IG GBoleyn123.

The 30th edition of one of Europe's largest festivals, Sziget, is coming to an end today in the capital city of Hungary. On Thursday, the Slovenian band Joker Out also took to the main stage, impressing the gathered audience. After the concert, they gave an exclusive interview for the web page Njena.si as well.
Sziget festival, which has been attracting music lovers from all over the world for decades, was not only a venue for top-notch performances this year, but also the realisation of long-held dreams for the Slovenian band Joker Out. The Hungarian festival is one of the largest European festivals and also one of the most significant events in the music industry. With a diverse array of music for all tastes and other artistic programs that transform an island in the middle of the Danube into an island of freedom for almost a week, it creates an atmosphere which keeps everyone coming back. For Bojan, Kris, Jan, Jure, and Nace from Joker Out, who returned to the festival this year as performers, this performance undoubtedly represents the pinnacle of their career and a confirmation of their hard work and persistence.
Sharing the main stage with Kylie Minogue and Sam Smith
One of the greatest confirmations of their success is that the boys stepped onto the main festival stage at 5:30 PM on Thursday, sharing it indirectly with some of the biggest names in contemporary music, such as Halsey, Tom Odell, Kylie Minogue, Liam Gallagher, Sam Smith, Louis Tomlinson, Martin Garrix, Fred again, and others. The band’s lead singer, Bojan Cvjetićanin, proudly emphasises: "This is a dream come true for us. We have always viewed Sziget festival as the ultimate goal. When we were asked in an interview years ago how we would define success, we said back then that it would be the main stage at Sziget festival. I believe that at the time, in our minds, we didn't think that it would happen anytime soon. But we counted on it as a 'maybe, someday, in the future,' so this is all really crazy."
The unbelievable joy, to finally be able to perform on the stage where we watched our biggest musical idols when we were younger. The audience in front of the stage has more than exceeded our expectations and gave us excellent energy that will remain a pleasant memory.
The guitarist Kris Guštin added that even though the names performing on the main stage this year are, of course, very important in the world of music, the most important piece of information to them is who performed on stage in the same time slot as they did. Not only at this year's festival, but in previous years as well. "Because it's a more direct comparison," he explains, adding "when I was at Sziget 2018 as an attendee, I went to listen to my favourite band in the same time slot. We also found out that our friend from London, Lewis Capaldi performed in the same time slot when he first performed at Sziget. And yesterday (on Wednesday) Tom Odell, who is an outstanding musician. This is a beautiful and realistic display of our slot and what we managed to achieve."

Jan Peteh arrived at the festival already on Wednesday, because he wanted to see the shows of two performers live, otherwise the boys had to leave Budapest immediately after their show and head towards their other concert locations. "It was planned, because I wanted to see two, or rather one performer. L'Impératrice, who are currently my favourite band and Marc Rebillet, who is known because of his YouTube streams and I've got to say, I'm even more impressed than I thought I'd be and it was definitely worth it."
The boys had to set off quickly as they had new concerts waiting for them, but if they had been able to stay, they unanimously singled out a peformer they would've wished to see and hear live at this year's festival. "Liam Gallagher, for sure." Liam performed at the festival on Friday night, and is otherwise best known as the frontman of the former English rock band Oasis, with which he and his brother Noel made some of the greatest hits of the 90s. That includes the legendary song 'Wonderwall'. Kris also added that he would've liked to see today's performance of the English producer and DJ who makes music under the name 'Fred again..'. "I don't know him that well, but it would've been interesting to see him because a lot of people are into him."

A new album and a different concept of concerts
The musicians have some more performances ahead, and then they're promising to release a new album in the autumn. "The album, the release of our third studio album, which will also kind of open the season of the last quarter of this year. As far as concerts go, we will focus mostly on the Balkan region. We will also do a few standalone concerts in this area to promote the album," reveals Bojan, and adds that they will go back to their beginnings a little.
"There's a more intimate atmosphere in store again, as we will choose venues that might not be as big as we could've gone for, but this album will be our first new experience in a while of playing new material that we don't know very well either, and we would like to get to know it in a circle of people that we can feel more in touch with," he explains. The Jokers will reveal more information about the album and the performances that will accompany its release in the coming weeks.

Sorry to ask something somewhat related to the recent discourse, but do you have any advice to someone trying to teach themselves lit analysis or lit theory? Seems like most online advice ends at "get an English degree lol"
first of all sorry for leaving this for so long, between work and various other Demands in my life i didn’t really have the time/energy to sit down and write up a proper answer for a while. anyway: imo, what’s more important than working your way through a long list of critical theory is honing an ability to respond to a text yourself; being able to take notice of your emotional responses, being able to ask questions about what the text does and what it responds to and whether you think it succeeds or fails. questions like ‘what is the text about?’ are often too vague, and assume that critical practice is a task limited to investigating the ‘correct’ metaphysical properties of a text that we have to uncover, as well as presenting literature as wholly utilitarian (under this framework, a text becomes a vehicle for a ‘theme,’ and nothing more.) in the list below, i’ve tried to be a little more precise about the kinds of questions that can help you become a more confident + critical reader.
[disclaimer: i am not any kind of expert, i have studied english lit at degree level and i do read a lot / make a habit of talking about what i read, but i would not consider myself especially ‘qualified’ and nor should you. i’m explaining a process that works for me, not providing a one-size-fits-all solution to the question of analytical methodology.]
the essence of literary practice is that a text has a terrain where it has to be met with, and where it will be accountable to forces that are often beyond its control or beyond its immediate borders, and a terrain where it asks to be met with, and towards which it will attempt to navigate the reader; the reader’s job is to meet with it on both terrains, synthesise them, and respond to them. so, some of the questions you should be asking about a text include:
what is its context? this can mean a lot of things: when and where was it written, and how might the conditions contemporary to its creation be informing the inner working of the text? is it considered part of a particular literary movement; how does it interact with the core characteristics of that movement? does it invoke other works; if so, how does it respond to them? what biographical information about the author might be relevant to the piece? some books will come with an introduction which, if written well, would cover at least the outstanding details on this list; you can also have a look on wikipedia or other such websites to get a feel for the conditions under which the text was created.
how does it respond to this context? rather than assuming a text to be a passive body onto which its external conditions are exerting their unilateral force, we should always understand a text as being in active dialogue with the context that shaped it. what are the questions typically posed within the movement or genre to which it belongs; how does it answer these questions? does it build on its predecessors in any way? if it’s a responsive text (ie. consistently invoking an earlier text), what does it have to say about the text to which it responds; how does it develop or contravene the template from which it was building? how might it be responding to the questions of its time; which paradigms are challenged? which are endorsed, actively or tacitly? what goes unmentioned? i emphasise critical engagement with context so heavily because it’s often where the meat of the text can be found.
what are the conditions which made this text possible? this is a little different to questions about context, which have a far broader scope; this is a question which seeks to treat a text not as a thing that came into existence of its own accord, but as a thing that emerged as a result of a process of material production that depends upon particular conditions. is it a mainstream publishing house, or an indie press, or self-published? how does this affect its authority, or the standard to which we hold it? how does this affect its relationship to narratives of cultural hegemony? what can that tell us about what hegemony can and cannot absorb? this is me being a big marxist about it but i think this question is woefully neglected in literary studies lol
why did the author make the choices that they made? one of the most important things to remember when it comes to literary analysis is that every choice made in a text is deliberate; every choice about what happens, what a character says and does, what a character looks like, how particular characters interact, how scenes and objects and settings are described, what prose style is employed, what word is used in a sentence, etc., is a deliberate choice being made by an external agent (ie. the author, sometimes/arguably also the editor, also the translator if a text is in translation), and those choices are accountable both to the deliberations of the author and the external cultural narratives with which they necessarily enter into a dialogue. ‘why does a character behave in a particular way’ is not a question that invites you to treat the story like a riddle for which you can find an ‘answer,’ but a question that engenders the following: what does their behaviour reveal about the character, and how might this be situated within the discourse of the wider text? does this behaviour reveal any biases on the part of the author? what sort of expectations does this behaviour establish, and are those expectations met or neglected or subverted? the same process can be applied to themes, settings, plot beats - anything, really. why is this particular adjective used - does it have other connotations that the author might want to draw attention to in relation to the object being described? why does this chapter end here and not here? nobody in a novel has agency that extends beyond the boundaries of the novel itself; part of the practice of analysis means discerning which choices were made and why, and whether those choices were good or bad.
what is your response? analysis is a misleading term for this practice; it’s less about dispassionately picking at a text in search of an ‘answer’ and more about evaluation - assessing the text’s successes and failures and cultivating your personal response to it, which means paying attention to your responses as you go along. some people would argue that ‘did you like/dislike this’ is a juvenile question, but i would disagree - knowing whether you liked or disliked something and being able to describe why it evoked that reaction in you is crucial to an evaluative practice. a text can be conceptually excellent, but falter if its prose is clunky or uninspired or unimaginative; being able to notice when a text isn’t engaging you and asking why that is is an important part of this evaluative process. similarly, what do you make of the themes and developments present in the text; does it dissect its themes with precision, or does it make broad gestures towards concepts without ever articulating them fully? is it original? does it have sufficient depth to it? do you agree with it? are you compelled by it? if you were asked the questions that the novel tries to respond to, what would you say; do you think that the novel misses anything out? has it challenged your own perspective? what are its limitations?
literary analysis is a learned skill, but by its nature of being a skill it gets a lot easier over time, and some of these questions will become intuitive. a good way to hone the skill and develop a greater intimacy with a text is through close reading; this refers to the practice of selecting a passage (or even just a sentence) and picking it apart line by line (word by word, even) to describe in intimate detail exactly how the sentence(s) came to be formed in the way that it/they did. i’ll use the first few sentences of daphne du maurier’s rebecca as an example.
Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again. It seemed to me I stood by the iron gate leading to the drive, and for a while I could not enter, for the way was barred to me. There was a padlock and chain upon the gate. I called in my dream to the lodge-keeper, and had no answer, and peering closer through the rusted spokes of the gate I saw that the lodge was uninhabited.
so a close reading of these sentences might identify:
‘last night i dreamt i went to manderley again’ is in iambic hexameter; this rhythmically satisfying invocation makes for a smooth opening sentence, and contrasts with the longer, more complex sentences that follow on. the change in rhythm through such a contrast helps to maintain momentum throughout the paragraph.
the first sentence also introduces a few key pieces of information - that this story is being told from the first person, that we are opening with a dream (and that the narrative places stock in the significance of dreams), and that the speaker is going to manderley ‘again’ - ie. that this is opening after an event in which manderley was significant. that the speaker going to manderley ‘again’ in a dream holds importance implies an exile from manderley in the ‘real’ world; this already gives us hints at the broader shape of the narrative.
the speaker’s intimacy with manderley and disregard for ‘telling’ the reader what it is (we do not get, like, ‘manderley is a house’ or something - the passage continues as though we know what manderley is already) helps to develop our sense of immersion in the dreamscape. it also sets manderley up as a place of immense significance.
both ‘it seemed to me’ and the later ‘i called’ have a matter-of-factness to them, a certain dry reporting of the events of the dream which, rather than situating the reader within the texture of the dream itself, refortify us as outside of it, listening to it be explained after the fact.
‘for a while i could not enter, for the way was barred to me’ continues the theme of implied exile that the first sentence gestured towards. the iambic trimeter on ‘the way was barred to me’ creates a lilting cadence which, along with the use of the passive voice, detaches the speaker from an emotive response to this being ‘barred’; it is a reported dream that will not consciously acknowledge the speaker’s feelings about being exiled from manderley at this time. (we instead infer these feelings through how the chapter develops.)
‘there was a padlock and chain upon the gate,’ as a short sentence, falls into the same matter-of-fact register as that which i alluded to above, partly through the use of the passive voice, and - as i explained earlier - varies the length of sentences such that the paragraph retains a particular buoyancy.
the development from the speaker calling to the lodge-keeper to not getting an answer to seeing that the lodge is uninhabited tells a story wherein the speaker at first has authority such that a lodge-keeper would respond to her and let her in; this authority is negated by the lack of response; the lodge-keeper is found to be absent in a development that took place whilst she was herself away, presumably in the state of exile that we have inferred her to be in. ‘uninhabited’ is the kind of word you would expect to be used for an area of land, often with a colonial connotation; this introduces a theme that this chapter (& the book as a whole) goes on to develop, of manderley being a site of colonial decay; as reinforced by the ‘rusted spokes.’
in my experience, close reading is a technique best practiced on poetry, but it’s a very helpful skill to develop in general, and implementing it with prose can elucidate the nuances of a text far more clearly than you might initially realise. in a well-written novel, language is very deliberate and precise!
i think the best thing you can do to develop your skills as a critical reader is to read carefully, and to keep track of your responses to a text as best as possible. keeping a note of what you think a text achieves and how you respond to it each time you read one can be a good way of sorting your thoughts into something coherent and developing your ability to articulate a response. anyway, hopefully this has provided something resembling a guide for how to develop the thought processes that go behind critical practice!

A simple planning system for those tired of time management, goals, and to-do lists
To engage in something important to you, you need deliberate intention. However, intentions and plans constrain our freedom. On the other hand, when there's too much freedom, it's difficult to make yourself do anything. Inspiration rarely strikes, and it's not enough to achieve significant results.
Therefore, it's extremely important to structure your day. However, many cannot work within a rigid imposed system. Blogger and author Steven Gaius advises creating your own rules. His planning approach combines simplicity, freedom, productivity, and flexibility.
The essence of the system Most planning systems are rigid, boring, and cumbersome. Even the highly popular strategy by David Allen is too suffocating and costly in practice. Managing the system takes more time than actually doing the tasks. Gaius's approach is simpler and more flexible. His planning system consists of two components: a large calendar and a marker board.
Using the calendar, track progress in habits. For example, you may want to read two pages of a book and meditate every day. When done, mark it off on the calendar.
On the board, write everything else, from one-time tasks to recurring tasks. Gaius suggests categorizing them into four categories:
Frequently recurring tasks. Useful tasks that should be done often but not necessarily daily, such as exercising, tidying up, and replying to emails.
Today's tasks. One-time tasks that need to be completed in a day, like sending a parcel or calling someone. Gaius doesn't include tasks with specific time frames like appointments and doctor's visits - those are recorded on the phone's calendar.
Do soon. Tasks for the next month that don't require immediate attention, like updating a website design or getting a passport photo.
Do someday. Things you want to do in the next 5 years, for example, visit a specific country.
What to do every day
Two or three mini habits. They should be simple, so you won't postpone them, even when tired or short on time.
Two points from the recurring tasks list. For example, work on the computer and exercise. In addition to those or in place of them, any day you can work on tasks from the "Soon" and "Someday" lists. This approach takes into account your primary goals but also allows flexibility to change plans.
One-off compulsory tasks, if any.
Self-assessment at the end of the day. On any day, tasks from the board can be skipped. Gaius calls this "indulging yourself." Not every day can be equally productive. Life shouldn't be rigidly structured and predictable, unless artificially constrained.
The benefits of such a system Intention Every day begins with deliberate goal setting. Without it, much time is wasted deciding which of the many ideas to pursue today. When everything is written on the board, making decisions becomes easier.
Direction Anyone can achieve an outstanding result once. But success comes from consistently doing great things. Treat each day as a step forward. Consider whether your steps are heading in one direction or going in circles. The four lists on the board and mini-habits will help you see where you're going.
Freedom of choice Conventional planning systems turn you into a slave. When tasks are scheduled at the same time every day, you're deprived of freedom of choice. This approach is useful for developing new habits but becomes tiring when applied to several areas at once. A list of ideas to choose from won't make you feel like a hostage.
Control With this system, you become like a general who surveys the battlefield in the morning before battle and determines the next steps. Of course, unforeseen circumstances can't be ruled out, but the freedom of choice will give you a sense of control.
Visualize the process In the morning, you identify the things to do for the day and immediately visualize how to get them done. For example, today you need to write an article, go to a workout and send packages. Knowing your intentions, you will effectively distribute your time and energy.
What is the secret of the system's success In its flexibility. On any day you can treat yourself and take a day off. That is, not to do things from the lists on the board, but to perform only mini habits. To some, this much freedom might seem problematic. But Geis finds it necessary.
I'm not likely to take 20 days off in a row. Unless it's for traveling. When I'm home and feeling good, I want to do something productive. I want to be in control of my own life and take a vacation not just once a week, but when I need it.
Steven Geis, blogger, author of MINI Habits - MAXI Results
Imagine you have a cool boss who lets you take as many days off as you want. You'll do this often, of course. But wouldn't you want to be more productive the rest of the time? With this system, you are that kind of boss for yourself.
No other system gives you that kind of opportunity. Most aim for maximum results in minimum time and don't take your well-being into account.
Why it's important to evaluate yourself It's the most reliable way to motivate yourself. You are simultaneously accountable to yourself and inspired. At the end of the day, simply give yourself a score between 1 and 5. Complicated mathematical grading systems will only create confusion. This way you'll say, “I didn't sleep well today, but I still did X and Y. I'll give myself a 4+” or ”I did a little work, but I know I could have done more. I'll give myself a 3 today.”
This is a visual demonstration of your successes. Take an honest look at the past day. If you're happy with how you spent your time and energy, then you're on the right track. If not, you know what and how to change.

Tokoyami: "Art of the Flying Squirrel Black Shadow!!!" Mineta: "Imitation Caltrop!!" Edgeshot: "Abscondance" Hagakure: "Nin-nin! Hidden Hagakure!!"
They are at the Kōga-ryū Ninjutsu Ninja Village in Kōka city, the birthplace of this school of ninja-arts. I visited the Tōgakure Ninjutsu House in Nagano -- Tōgakure, Iga, and Kōga are considered the three main families of ninjutsu. These kinds of attractions usually have museums dedicated to the style's history and showing off tons of unique historical artifacts, but the main draw is all the activities for visitors to try their hand at being a ninja, shuriken-throwing, wall-climbing, rope-walking, etc.. Hagakure is making a pun, because her surname means "hidden leaves" or "hidden by the leaves" so she is "hidden hidden-leaves." Tokoyami is doing his Black Fallen Angel move, but it's much funnier to make it a giant flying squirrel attack.

Ashido: "You can't even see the sky through all the bamboo~!!" Yaoyorozu: "They say that the growing speed of bamboo is the fastest in the world. I've heard it can grow up to one meter in a single day." Mineta: "My whole height in a single day... I can't do this!!! Jirou: "Cheer up." Label on Mineta: "Mineta Minoru, Height: 1.08 Meters."

They are making takoyaki, a famous soul food created in Osaka in 1935. It requires a large griddle with rounded molds, and chefs use two metal rods to rotate the batter rapidly. It's really fun to watch them make it, and most stalls put the griddle up against a full-length window to show it off.

Izuku: "Even cutting an onion... a hero... doesn't cry! WWUAAAH" Ochako: "What a shame! Challenge failed." Shouto: "No, even heroes cry when they have to."
Awaji Island is famous for its onions and produces some of the sweetest onions in the world. They have a spring crop of sweet but slightly spicy onion, and a fall-time harvest that they store and dry to further develop their sweetness. Shouto's line is from chapter 137 when Izuku insists heroes don't cry while crying into his food. What's funny is that sweet onions supposedly produce less of the chemical that produces tears in humans, so maybe Izuku is just being a lil' crybaby, hehe, but we'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he's working with a particularly spicy spring harvest.

They are in Nara Park, where you can buy special crackers to feed the very friendly and booming deer population. Deer in Nara have been protected and seen as important to local Shinto beliefs for at least a thousand years; in 2023, studies from three universities revealed that they actually make up a unique genetic group not found anywhere else. Apparently, the deer in Nara will exchange bows with people, especially if it means they get a snack~

Hi, I'm new to the awards things, this doesn't mean rwrb, nick and taylor have been nominated for emmys right? How likely will it be to get the nominations?
Hi, that’s right! The recent articles we saw were just predictions, they do not guarantee nominations. Also note that those were only from editor from Variety, and other entertainment editors also publish their own predictions.
I had some time today, so I looked up some predictions on Gold Derby, the biggest website for predicting Hollywood award races.
For the category Outstanding TV Movie, they currently have 65 users who have Madde their predictions, and out of those 65 users, 63 included RWRB. That’s 97%. The 65 predictors is made up of 20 industry experts and editors, and 45 users who have had the most accurate predictions in the past 2 years (yes, this means anyone can create an account and cast their predictions). I think the chances for a nom in this category is very high.
Emmy nomination campaigns have just begun though and more predictions have yet to be published, the odds for our little movie may increase!
Nick and Taylor have not been in anyone’s predictions for Lead Actor (Limited/TV Movie), and unfortunately that’s not a surprise as the category is insanely stacked (there is only one category for actors in limited tv shows and movies).
PS. The aforementioned industry exports and editors are from: NPR, Indiewire, USA Today, WFAF-TV Fox, Variety, Gold Derby, Gold Derby, ABC.
Hope this helps!

Poro Analysis
i know this is an art blog mostly but on occasion i like to make it a graphic design blog. Behold with only the finest graphic design heres my poro unicorn lore board. Contains Spoilers for all of the Music Festival Arc, Heart Breaker, Deviculum
Tumblr media
I mostly was curious on what irl lore of the unicorn got added or adapted into poros creation. I'll go more specific about my points Under the cut. Lord i hit undo on this editor and it erased almost everything i wrotei had to rewrite most of the post :',C
Ars Goetia Amduscias Demon
The Ars Goetia describes Amduscias taking the Appearence of a Unicorn, as well as: all manner of Trumpets and Musical Instruments to be heard but not soon or imediately, and can cause the trees to bend and incline according to the Exorcists will. And Amduscias is often described as the one playing or in charge of the music that can be heard through hell, as well as having a thunderous voice and being asscoiated with thunder.
Poro's Character greatly tracks with the music Theme. Poro is shown to be a Sound and Music Specialist, giving Critique and concerning Invites to Students after their Performances. Poro's own Claim to Fame was being Delkira's personal Musician giving a battle Concert with Delkira.
Poro's own Character Design with that Piano lookin Cut, Cello Detail and Pinstripe Suit, Notes on the End of those side hair pieces, and carrying a Conductor's Baton
Poro's yells loudly once getting to the School about the Crime, according to Poro, of re-allowing the use of the Royal One(talk about a thunderous Personality). Poro at the End of the Arc, once convinced, and painfully, for Wett defects with Kirio and Wett of the Six Fingers who answer to the Thunder Lord, Baal.
The last bit about being able to cause trees to bend, in the last panel Poro with Kirio and Wett are seen entering Brush to exit Babylus. The thought of such tall dark Brush, despite atleast the spaced out Center of Babylus's Campus, covering an Individual as large and tall as Poro for a masked Exit- no Clue if controling Trees is part of Poro's Powerset but still an interesting coincidence alluding back to Amduscias.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Qi Lin
I wish i had more historical/primaray sources to look from but alas modern feng shui websites will have to do
The Qi Lin has stories about the Rarity of its Appearences. The Qi Lin only showing up when a great outstanding Ruler is present in Time or when a great Sage(mostly Confucius mentioned) dies. There is also a legend that an Emperor of China was at the Yellow River and saw a Qi Lin on the Water, as it walked it cleared the River and Surroundings of all the Dirt and Stuff and the Emperor saw the Symbols on its Back and used them to create the first chinese writing System.
The Bit about the outstanding Ruler and Sage seems to match up well with Events and Characters. Poro being very Loyal, even to Poro's own Detriment, to Delkira as, when ever someone mentions Delkira most Demons admire Delkira in this demon Kingdom(?) Country(?).
It even matches with Iruma's Setup, Sully calling on Poro to see Iruma in hoping Poro will be impressed to rank Iruma. Plus we all know Iruma will become the next Demon King via the Prophecy, Poro is witnessing the fledgling King.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not that all Qi Lin have to have exclusively one Horn but with the overlapping Traits of its Dragon like Features, Poro's Design echos back to the Qi Lin with Poro's Tail having a smooth Underside, spikey hairy Outterside, not to mention the clattering Heels in lue of Hooves
As an aside the Ming Emperor, Emperor Yongel, was gifted a Giraffe, that was called, equated to, and or associated with the QI Lin, very smart on the gifters part. I thought this was so funny given Poro's size, no clue if Nishi intended to it to match up with Poro but lucky for Nish-sensei it works out.(3rd picture of section of court painting of said Giraffe)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
European Medieval Unicorns (i recomend skipping to the Poro paragraph and back reading this one)
Unicorns had a variety of many myths, associations, and metaphors attached to them but the Myths from Medieval Europe stand out most prominently here. Its been a variety of Animals over the Years, its Predessor being an Ox, the Re'em from the Bible, Goats,Asses (Donkeys), Horses, overall some sorta hoofed Creature and one Horn.
The first main Attribute to this Unicorn Myth is the Unicorn's Horn having Properties to purify the sick and ill, specfically treat and cure Diseases and Poison. Those who were able to successfuly find and hunt would gain such a treasure.
Later on it gained another Adaptation - The Unicorns purifying Power later becoming intertwined with the Purity of virgin Maidens, that a wild Beast would only allow itself to be near/in the Arms of a Virgin Maiden because the Unicorn could sense/was in awe of a Maiden's Purity(and or the maidens Purity matched that of the Unicorns), only for it to be a Trap, for a Group of Hunters to come out from Hiding to chase/capture and the slaughter with perhaps some Level of Immortality from the Unicorn for the Unicorn to not fully die after all that. Other versions of the story have the virgin naked and the Unicorn does some sorta sexual encounter with the Virgin.(i can't make this up)
Later the whole Saga became Metaphors for Sex/Love/Marriage. People being reigned in and tamed by the Love or down -badness of their Partner/Spouse as a wild Unicorn is tamed in the arms of a Virgin. People eventually settling down and finding Love. - no relation to the modern practice/notion of a 3rd person joining only in the sex lives of a married couple.
There also became a very Christian Metaphor to emerge along side the love Metaphor. The power/essence of Christ was reigned in by a virgin Mary, mirring that of a Unicorn being allured to a Virgin. That the whole Hunt of the Unicorn was a metaphor for the Crucifixtion and Ressurection of Christ, with wild purifying powerful Unicorn parralleling the Goddlyness of Christ, its Hunt for the Crucifixtion, Its slight immortality with the Ressurection from the dead, and circling back with the purifiying Power of the Unicorn being drawn as a Metaphors for Christ the Redeemer.( i also wish i couldve made this up)
Tumblr media
Lets get back to M!ik
Seeing Unicorns being described as wild Asses seems stunningly on Brand for Poro, with Poro's Abbrasiveness at times and trying to beef with kids this coincidence is pretty funny.
Poro's major Arc of the Music Festival is coping with the Loss and the never return of Delkira as Poro regrets never getting the chance to technically date Delkira and never being able to see him again. It's all the more highlighted when in Sully's flash back when Poro, in a sour Mood expresses how its been too long since Delkira's Disappearance. Despite finding more Comfort with Change after Iruma and Co's Performance Poro hard flips back into Copium once Wett talks about reuniting Delkira. this all reads to me of Poro being wild all around unless Delkira is present to be the one true love of Poro ala wild Unicorn and love Metaphor.
There seems to be a bit of confusion about Poro's gender based on Poro's Presentation and specifically language Presentation. English Pronouns i can't really say anything about not least since the manga is being translated from Japanese with different Features and Practices- no doubt this gave the translators some trouble on how to adapt the wording, maybe a bit more cumbersome to other Languages than English. For whatever its worth Poro mentions being a Maiden and a Lady in EN fan translation.
tho i did start a paragraph about Poro's Gender this speaks more about the Purity and maiden Aspect of the Myth with the Unicorns sensitivity of/purity matching that of a virgin Maiden's. The comparison feels most matching when Poro apprehends Wett after Wett tailed Poro and Poro goes(paraphrasing), I was feeling a yucky presence a maiden can sense that type of stuff, it's alluded to it being Poro's ability to hear the heart beat Pattern and read that off to the overall Mood and intentions (based on action) of a Person, but it also matches well sensing/reading Wett and the Antgonists' unpure Intentions and drive up their villiany Status.
this part is a bit more head cannon-y: Poro was doing a bit of maiden sensing on Eliza when she says, we'll pierce you with the finest sound, and Poro's own Quest/Hunt for Love, a kindred spirit to Eliza's, finding Love for Love's sake.
another head cannony one is Poro's lines crying, that Delkira despite not giving personal attention to the women around him, Poro still says he did eventually(and like a simp still be wanting Delkira). If Poro was reading Delkira's Purity or smth. This line kinda reads a little ambiguously with that whole maiden/purity sensing idea in the background, vs the idea that Sully had a secret love child with Delkira and it became Iruma. lmao you heard it guys Poro believes in the Iruma is a direct descendant of Delkira theory, just kidding. Too bad Poro couldn't sense Delkiras heart beat when Delkira ghosted them at the office.
a little incongruous to the previous point of Delkira being the one and only for Poro- is Poro's Preferences(not for Men in general) but the inclusion of the younger Students in Babylus, who are, i guess, Boys and, as Poro puts it, young Men.(Poro is so desperate for hitting on high schoolers at this age.) Poro seems quite Old being Contemporaries with even Sullivan and with the Students of Babylus seeming rather inexperienced with Romance it seems to track with the Myth, the Unicorn is sensing the purity of/allured by Virgins, or at least, those who have far less romance Experience. This is Unfortunetly why i argue Poro's influence to be aligned with this Version of the unicorn Myth, Poro's odd combo of a romance thru-line despite hitting on kids, and lines with equating to be a maiden it feels like it matches beat for beat of the medieval Unicorn myth.(Unless the qilin also has meanings of sex love and romance which it might, i could use more details).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now its time for the Jesus metaphor, Oh man you thought i was done.
Going back to the Christian Metaphor for the Maiden lures a Unicorn, only for a band of huntsmen to begin pursuit and the Unicorn gets Injured and kinda dies but then lives. The Europeans found a way to Pack in a Jesus metaphor with the Wild Unicorn and its purifying Power repping Christ the Redeemer, the Unicorn only appearing in the Presence of Virgins Of course Mary, the subsquent Hunt repping the Crucifixtion dyin for ya sins and purifying horn, and the Unicorn living cause semi immortality and Christ live-dying with god or what ever the point of that story was.
Guess who else was invited to do some ressurecting, it is part of Baals plans to recruit Poro for Delkiras "reuniting," for Baal just straight up power grab. (honestly i didn't know much about unicorns before hand was not expecting jesus or the virgins thing to come up.) Blehh that means Iruma, Ali and Delkira, could be like the unholy demonic Trifecta, (Delkira)the Father (Iruma) the Son (Ali) the Holy Spirit not expecting to see iruma with another jesus parallel.
crack theories: Poro cleared Kirio of his Debuffs. It'll be a race see who will get to Delkira first catch Delkira as a Deer, or Ali or Delkira go full vampire Mode.

Im sorry but NOTHING beats reading tags under your art on Tumblr😤😤😤
There is simply ISN'T a more furfilling way to enjoy your own art and the interactions it creates, between you as an artist and the viewers. Than reading the weird comments, stories and theories people leave under art and fanart on this website. It is simply *cheffs kiss* an outstanding experience!💗
I feel like i actually get to interact so much more with my audience through looking through the tags than replying to a few comments saying they love my art, don't get me wrong, I LOVE getting praise and patted on my back for my hard work. but replying "Thanks" 30 ways can get so tiring. In the tags no one EXPECTS the artist to reply which is so freeing, cus i read EVERY comment TRUST ME, but its nice that you dont HAVE to reply to all of them💗
I'm guessing its because it's so unformal? writing stuff in the tags rather than leaving actually public comments(Like on other art spaces such as Twitter and Insta) can be slightly more intimidating while writing in the tags are more casual?
But seriously! People either leave their messages for the artist themselves or for their own followers, which creates something new, engaging and Fun! The tags are never just: "great art" or "well done" its more like: "#THIS IS ME AND MY BEST FRIEND WHEN WE GOT HIGH ON PAINKILLERS IN 9TH GRADE AND ROLLARSKATED INTO THE FOUNTAIN IN THE PARK AND GOT CHASED BY A HOMELESS MANS RAPID DOG, #THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME REMEMBER" or "#THIS MADE ME CRY ON MY KITCHEN FLOOR FOR 10 MINUTES STRAIGHT" and then they leave 😅
OR(x2) they write out half a fanfic of the fanart in the tags bringing all the weirdest or cutest headcanons to life and maybe later they will reblog with a link to their AO3 with the full novel. 😂
This place is insane for artist interaction and validation
Thanks Tumblr keep it up!

Cyberchase - An Interview With The Hacker by Reporter CyBob from "Cyborg Life!"
Sometime in 2003, the "Meet the Cybersquad" section of the Cyberchase section of the pbskids.org website was updated with more Hacker lore. This is an interview between the reporter CyBob from a publication called "Cyborg Life!"
I will transcribe the interview and give my thoughts at the end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Foreward: He's the rascally cyborg about town, the virtual man with a a plan to rule Cyberspace. CYBORG LIFE! is proud to present the first and only interview with The Hacker, the wily villain of CYBERCHASE! Our intrepid report CyBob, met up with The Hacker in a scluded chat room over lattes to learn more about this ambitious rising star in the Internet firmament.
Cyborg Life!: Your exploits are the buzz of Cyberspace. You threw the symmetrical world of Symmetria into chaos, pilfered pods in Poddleville and nabbed an irregular area in the Sensible Flats land grab. You're a true man of mystery -- a celebrity. And our readers want to know more. Can I call you Hacker?
The Hacker: That's "THE Hacker" to you!
Cyborg Life!: THE Hacker, OK. How about just "The." But seriously, people everywhere want to know more about your outrageous quest to take over Cyberspace. What inspired you to take on this fascinating challenge?
The Hacker: Well, I'm glad you asked. As you know I have an extraordinary mind. My designs and prodigious programs helped build Cyberspace. Yet, Motherboard always took the credit. -- Would you mind taking your feet off the table when I speak? -- She lacked the villainous vision to bring my fantastic plot to its final fruition. I could see the potential in her operation. But, oh, how she squandered her power.
Cyborg Life!: It's not easy being in middle management I guess. But isn't Cyberspace Motherboard's domain? And isn't the renowned scientist Dr. Marbles the great innovative mind behind its most outstanding inventions? It says here that Dr. Marbles built you as an assistant to Motherboard, sort of a glorified techie. And that he later banished you to the Northern Frontier when you tried to stage a coup?
The Hacker: I was laid off! Marbles knew that with my considerable cranial talents I would soon be running all of Cyberspace. That's why he tried to get rid of me. But I would not be ignored.
Cyborg Life!: So you hatched a plan.
The Hacker: Yesssss, a plan. I created a nasty little virus to disable Motherboard causing her to lose much of her memory and functions. Now the virtual universe is in jeopardy! And I intend to step in to claim my predestined place as the rightful ruler. hen it will be all chaos and caviar for me!
Cyborg Life!: But something keeps getting in your way. Three things actually -- those three Earth kids -- Jackie, Matt, and Inez. You know, the Cyber Squad. Some people are calling them heroes.
The Hacker: heroes? Those insignificant insects can't stop me. Those diminutive gremlins are just a trio of white hats. They think they can hack THE HACKER?
Cyborg Life!: So, how does one get into a career as a supervillain?
The Hacker: Once I left Motherboard's operation, I began my own sinister start-up. There in the icy north, I built my awesome ship -- The Grim Wreaker -- as my vehicle to bring chaos to all of Cyberspace. Finally, I created my humble assistants, Buzz and Delete, a pair of tin plated duncebuckets though they may be. But together, they are almost competent enough to carry-out my most dastardly deeds. Of course, there's that cyber-stool pigeon Digit.
Cyborg Life!: Digit, isn't he with the Cyber Squad?
The Hacker: Yes, that supercilious cyber-turkey didn't have the stuff to make it as one of my henchman, so he flew the coop. Now he helps those three pre-teen terrestrial termites in their attempts to thwart my victories. That disloyal dodo will rue the day he ditched me and ran back to Motherboard. But let's talk about me. From the moment I first felt current flow through my circuits, I have craved power. Yes, power, power and more power. Dr. Marbles thought I would be content punching keyboard like some hackneyed pawn. Look at me, I am regal personage with a fine purple cloak and an elegant pocket protector. I am the one and only true leader of the virtual realm. I am THE HACKER!
Cyborg Life!: So, what are some of the highlights of your solo career?
The Hacker: Ah, yes, There was the time I set my sights on the Sunisphere of Solaria. With the Sunisphere in my grasp, Solaria was transformed from a sunny resort into a doomed winter wonderland and an unlimited source of energy was mine.
Cyborg Life!: Well, that's just fascinating. Here it is in my notes. But it seems those Earth kids and Digit managed to return the Sunisphere and restore Solaria to the tropical paradise it once was. and, let's see -- I know it's in my notes. Yes, they did it by -- er -- estimating? Is that right, they got the Sunisphere back on its perch by estimating?
The Hacker: Come on, it was a lucky shot. Then there was the time I joined forces with the Wicked Witch to capture the kindly king of Happily Ever After. An odious little site where fairy tale creatures amuse themselves with their annoying rhymes and songs. We were to capture the kingdom's stash of golden eggs, but Witchie tried to double-cross me. She case a spell on the sorry citizens of Happily fracturing their ability to count this preventing them from paying the king's ransom. But I was ultimately paid in full, enough goald to finance my hostile takeover of Cyberspace.
Cyborg Life!: Well, once again my notes seem to indicate that it was the Cyber Squad that taught the fairy tale folk how to count by tens and hundreds to meet your demand. And then they coaxed the Witch back to their side, and she took back the entire stash of golden eggs. is that true?
The Hacker: Excuse me. I have come here to tell you about my wondrous personage. Not for you to fawn over those thorns in my glorious side.
Cyborg Life!: Wow, what a story, brainpower wins the day. I have to make a note to my editor to do a piece on them.
The Hacker: That's enough! This interview is over. Goodbye!
Cyborg Life!: Wait Hack! Can't you tell me more about these smart kids and their friend Digit and all the clever ways that they one-up you all the time. Hackie, come back! Does this mean the press junket on the Grim Wreaker is out?
That is the end of the interview.
So, what do I think of it. I admire the balls on this reporter to meet The Hacker, the biggest villain in Cyberspace, in a secluded place for the interview. I also admire the balls on this reporter to setup the interview in a way that asks the important questions, even if it takes the interview in a direction that he Hacker doesn't want to go. Remember, that this is 2003 Hacker. His villain decay, and his plans centering on rehabilitating his image, largely hasn't happened yet.
It's interesting to see The Hacker's attempts at historical revision regarding the creation of Cyberspace. I think there is fan-fiction potential, which some people have already noticed, with the idea that The Hacker wasn't lying about doing the lion's share of the work to bring Cyberspace online.
I'm not sure what the "press junket on the Grim Wreaker" was supposed to be. They may just be using the term loosely here. A press junket is a term that is normally used in the film industry to refer to a period of interviews used to advertise the product, such as an upcoming film. I assume The Hacker isn't selling the Grim Wreaker himself, but then, what is he selling?

David Tennant audios: Tuesdays & Sundays is an audio gem
As you all know by now, surely, I'm a David Tennant theatre buff, but right now I want to explore my other major passion with regards to his work: his audios. He's done a bewildering amount of audio work and a lot of it is really, really good. With that in mind, I'm going to concentrate on one of my absolute favorite David Tennant audio works: a 2003 audio entitled Tuesdays & Sundays.
Based on a true story of an 1887 series of events between a young woman named Mary Tuplin and her lover William Millman in Margate on Canada’s Prince Edward Island, Tuesdays & Sundays begins with the young couple's spirits as they "awaken into a void. As they question where they are, they recall and begin to relive the story which got them there: their giddy courtship and the overwhelming passions of first love, the pangs of a six-month absence, an unplanned pregnancy, and a guilty and shameful young man amidst a community in which respectability is of utmost importance. As they try to cope, to keep love amongst the fear and confusions of youth, these two spirits ultimately stumble upon their own tragic ending."
Sounds intriguing, yes?
Tuesdays & Sundays was originally a 45-minute play written by Canadians Daniel Arnold and Medina Hahn. It was first performed in June 2000 in Edmonton, Canada, with the authors as the two principal characters William and Mary. Arnold and Hahn took the play on tours throughout Canada, Europe and the US and won many awards, including the Sterling Haynes Award for Outstanding Fringe Performance.
In 2003, Arnold and Hahn were asked to adapt the play for radio; one for Canada's CBC Radio (which starred themselves) and once for the BBC. I spoke to Arnold about how the play got adapted, and he told me, “CBC Radio was the first to approach us about a radio version, and we performed it on CBC Radio with minimal adaptation. The Edinburgh Festival is where Sara Benaim of the BBC saw it, and asked about a radio adaptation for BBC Radio 4. We adapted the play accordingly, and…re-set it to [Tusket in] Nova Scotia, where there was much more Scottish settlement. Margate on Prince Edward Island was much more English. We made…the characters both immigrants from Scotland, which actually worked quite well.”
The BBC adaptation was broadcast on 16 June 2003 as the BBC Radio 4 Afternoon play and starred David as William and Claire Yuille (who later appeared in the first episode of 2010’s Single Father, credited only as a “Doting Mum") as Mary. And on top of all that, David and Claire also voiced all of the play's other minor characters!
Of David’s turn as the young William Millman, Arnold told me, “We were quite taken with his performance in it.” He added, “We were thrilled when we learned David Tennant would play (my role) William…and when we heard the recording on the BBC, it sounded fantastic.”
And it DOES! In my opinion, there are so many reasons why this play is stupendous. David and Claire are top-drawer. The dialogue is back and forth, breathless and imbued with teenaged giddiness, bullet-paced and conversational - both with each other and in asides to themselves - and it must've taken some doing for the two actors to get this pace down just right without running over the top of each other and blurring it into chaos. But instead, it creates a perfect tension-filled atmosphere that draws an audience in and makes this play a must-hear.
By this time I imagine you're wondering where you can hear or read this play. Well, here's a partial script. Here's the original Canadian radio broadcast at the Internet Archive (which is a great listen in and of itself) but, sadly, hearing David's version had become a bit more difficult. The Internet Archive had a copy once but it's been removed, and Arnold and Hahn's DualMinds website has almost 5 minutes of the play, but as it's based in Flash Player good luck getting it to work. But I won't tell if you won't tell - so go get it here while it's still available. ;)
Here's a cute little David in advertising for the play - and below, some other historical information about the events the play is based on. If you don't want to know anything about the play before listening to it (spoilers!) then don't look beyond this photo!

The real Mary Pickering Tuplin was 17 years old when she was murdered, and her lover William Millman was convicted of the crime. Tuplin’s body was pulled from the Southwest River on July 4, 1887, just a short distance from where she lived with her parents in Margate. She had been shot twice in the head. Her body was weighed down with a heavy stone, and it was discovered she had been six months pregnant. Authorities separated her head from her body for forensic examination, and - bizarrely - it was never reunited with her body. It remained in the coroner's office, which eventually became a pharmacy. And there it remained until 2016, when it was finally reburied with the rest of her remains.
If true crime is your thing, you can access the entire report of the Tuplin-Millman murder trial, right here!
William Millman was convicted of Mary Tuplin's murder and was sentenced to hang. Despite the jury’s recommendation for mercy, he was hanged on 10 April 1888.
Many believe him innocent of the crime. Was he? It's highly unlikely we will never know.

Thanks for US schooling explanation.
In UK, we do have P.E, but it’s not as detailed or developed like you describe in the US.
P.E is so rudimentary that no one takes it seriously, and it focuses on very basic aerobics style exercise…all depends on programme P.E teacher devises. It differs from school to school.
In private school, you might have P.E as an option, but more often than not, the school insists that each pupil takes up a sport or two. The people who are good enough to join house/ school sports teams are exceptional, but everyone in the student body will have a sports in their educational arsenal.
Keeping this conversation with Kate, look at the sports page of Marlborough school.
https://www.marlboroughcollege.org/co-curricular/sport/
Quote from website:
Sport is part of daily life at Marlborough. We strive for every pupil to participate actively and to have a truly positive experience, developing a lifelong interest in and lasting enjoyment of sporting activity that will foster good habits long into adulthood.
Our talented and dedicated coaching teams strive to create the best possible environment for pupils to learn with a judicious mixture of challenge and open communication. There are many opportunities for pupils to represent the College in teams across a wide range of over 20 competitive sports, as well as participating in frequent high-energy house competitions, utilising our outstanding College facilities.
List of sports on offer:
https://www.marlboroughcollege.org/co-curricular/sport/all-sports/
Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, CrossCountry,  Equestrian, Fencing, Fives, Football, Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse, Netball, Polo, Rackets, Rugby, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Tennis, Water Polo.
It’s impossible to be a coach potato in a school where you are required to take up at least one from the above list of sports.
Other schools eg Bryanston and Milfields whose raison d'etre is sports rather than academics will have a longer list of sports for their student body to choose from.
***********
This is very interesting, anon -- thanks for following up and sharing! But now I wonder if it’s a chicken or the egg kind of a situation. Is Kate sporty because of Marlborough’s focus on athletic enrichment? Or was Marlborough a much better fit for Kate because she was sporty to begin with?
And, ah, aerobics...any time we had a sub in middle school PE (grades 6-8/ages 11-13), they’d throw us in the gym with a Billy Banks Tae Bo video projected on the wall.
Tumblr media
It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.
