He does! He brags about Timmy's success to every person within the neighborhood's vicinity. Mr. Turner loves how successful his son is! It really secures his reputation at the neighborhood HOA meetings they host at their house.

Timmy's worked very hard to gain more successes than failures. The more successful he is, the greater his family's social standing!! And the less he gets to overhear his dad ranting to the neighborhood about his failures.

a wild moment at work today, when my boss (at the end of quite a long speech about why I should track my work better) essentially said, "but you're not getting any credit for your accomplishments!" and I realized I genuinely didn't care.

#I mean part of this is that she wants credit for being my boss and I simply have no desire to assist with that.#but it doesn't particularly matter to me that an email blast doesn't give me credit.#I know what I do. I know what value I offer. I have solid professional relationships and if they fired me....well.#(best not enjoy that particular gloating daydream too much.)#she brought up one of the attorneys who - during a recent group meeting - talked about collaborating with me #as an example of ''not getting credit''#and excuse me? the prompt was all about collaboration! the point was to give an example of how you collaborated!#the attorney even ASKED FOR PERMISSION before the meeting; I said that it was fine to use as an example #I got namechecked TWICE during that meeting for two different projects I was very pleased.#sorry you apparently hate your coworkers and feel the need to duel them in a conference room but I'm fine.#some things rats won't do

the company I work for created an internal fundraiser for flood relief - aimed at our colleagues in the UK and US - and also matches all donations, which is a really nice thing. small one, perhaps, but nice nonetheless.

For everyone who wishes they spent more time doing Events and Activities with their friends - planning is a Skill!

Knowing where to learn about potential activities and events, being the person to reach out to invite others, being the one to ask the "when" and "where" questions, reminding people about it: they are all skills!

If you, reading this, are the person who often does this legwork: your actions are appreciated. These skills are less commonly practiced than you think and it can be a fantastic skill to have in your pocket. It can be frustrating trying to step back from planning, or tiring to be the only person in your circle practiced at it. I know. Take my hand. We'll get through this together, maybe Saturday afternoon, for coffee?

If you, reading this, are never the person to suggest or arrange plans: it's a skill, which means that it's something you can get better at. Anxiety can be a bitch, but your friends aren't gonna be as mean as your brain already is.

Give it a shot. Look up a cafe you haven't tried, or search your local paper for events. You can't go wrong with "I was thinking of going, would you want to come with?". Ask when. Ask where. I believe in you.

This chapter hit me like a fucking truck - because it's the first time I've ever seen someone describe loneliness/desire for friends with food....As you guys know I love cooking. I love food. It's why this manga appealed to me so much - cooking for other's is my love language. I love making meals and people eating them. It brings me joy - and eating alone makes me very sad and lonely (In my apartment I try to only eat while on call...eating breakfast alone always makes me feel lonely).

Its why I have restaurants I always wanted to try but never go - the point of a meal to me is to share it with someone. It will never taste as good alone, at least to me...I'm glad I'm not alone in this feeling, and that it got put into words. Anytime I mentioned this people told me 'who cares just go alone' afdgh
