I've never used sepia conté crayons before. What do you guys think of the color combo? I might experiment more with sepia and black conté crayons... we shall see.
This is another sketch I did before going to sleep, so I only put things I find comforting in it. I love the lacy branches of bare oak trees in winter.
Media: conté crayons in sepia and black, with Wolff's carbon pencil (my favorite kind of charcoal pencil - "wolff's" is really fitting considering the subject matter.)

Video: A TikTok by @/marandart of narrating the process of making mixed-media traditional art; experimenting with several different tools.
Audio Transcript:
"I really want to make art but I don't know what to do Well, I got this paint here and I got this funny sponge, so I'll do something with that dip that guy (sponge) in there and what if we drew with the sponge? what if we did kind of like a little werewolf rabbit looking kind of guy? uhh, I don't know. I think I'll just sponge it instead. Thanks sponge! What if instead we projected a sketch onto it? that's cool… but actually, I just ended up using a conté crayon and drawing right on it and I like that a lot more and now it's time for some wax pastels over the top because you know me I'm following the exact contours of the sketch and filling in the shapes intuitively remembering that we're made of feathers and I'm having a great time but then oh my god, I stayed up until 2:00 in the morning but in the morning we're back at it - fully rendering the feathers and blending it out with the water pen and then we do a little "racoon rinse" in the water. and we're back at it with more wax pastels. and in order to do the background, I wanted to do a little test. See, I couldn't decide what color I wanted in the background. So I overlaid a couple overhead transparencies, and painted them different colors to see what color I wanted and I ultimately decided on this toned down yellow color doing some real fancy little little brush stroked right there and we got a Heron! I'm really happy with how this came out, hope you guys like it!"
End Transcript.

The end result is a graphical, stylized painting of a heron bird - with light-yellow background, on canvas.

Seated Woman with a Parasol (study for La Grande Jatte), Georges Seurat, 1884, Art Institute of Chicago: Prints and Drawings
During 1884 and 1885, Georges Seurat was hard at work on the most ambitious painting of his career, A Sunday on La Grande Jatte—1884, now a centerpiece of the Art Institute’s collection of 19th-century French painting. The artist’s genesis of this large canvas involved many preparatory studies, which fall primarily into two groups: small compositional sketches and color studies on wooden panels, and nuanced Conté crayon drawings that explore both the empty landscape and the shapes of specific figures or figural groups. In this contemplative drawing, Seurat developed the expressive contours of the seated female figure holding a parasol that would ultimately occupy the center of the finished painting. Bequest of Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Size: 480 × 315 mm Medium: Black Conté crayon on ivory laid paper

Camera. Someone suggested me drawing it, and I do believe it is the most difficult I made so far. There are writings on it, and they are white, and the camera is black, and I tried like 3 different mediums to do these and they’re not like best. There is charcoal on photo but I’ve tried also white gelpen, conté crayon and thin eraser. I’ve heard something about white posca markers but never tried 'em. Definitely have to.
