Photos I took of Nine Inch Nails' Tension 2013 tour, which was running 10 years ago this month. I also served as art director for the tour’s extensive visual design, working with lighting director Roy Bennett and production company Moment Factory (our team from the 2008 Lights in the Sky tour). Tension was the third full original stage production we designed/executed in 2013 (following the How to Destroy Angels live show and the NIN 2013 festival production), and its unique challenges damn year killed us (watch the Vevo behind-the-scenes feature for some insights into the creation of Tension), but we pulled off quite a spectacle both visually and musically.
If you enjoy these looks back at my work with NIN, consider supporting me on Patreon, where I share tons of behind-the-scenes design insights including song-by-song tour production commentaries. Plus frequent exclusive hi-res wallpaper packs, downloads, events, contests, and an awesome fan community. Direct fan support is what keeps me going as an independent creator, and it means the world to me.

kpop idols gotta start using more stable headset mics if they're gonna use headsets bc the ones they typically use tend to move away from their faces (which probably doesn't impede functionality most of the time but i've seen them having to constantly readjust the mics) and fall. i'd say maybe they should use theatre-type ones (typically DPA headsets thanks google). i worked with those recently and they can sometimes be a bit fragile, although they're far less likely to fall as they sit on the face. if idols were to use these mics, i would say they should 100% tape them down on the face, neck and tape the wires down as well. and also probably secure the mic packs a little better (from my experience, they stay best if the hook/clamp bit is on the outside and the mic pack is on the inside of the clothes. for female idols i would definitely say to clip it onto a bra and secure the wire with tape because it would be less likely to fall out if the mic pack is closer to the face) AND tape the cord to the thingy so the cord doesn't come off cause that would suck (idk how to explain it there's like the cord to the mic itself (like on headphones kinda) and that cord goes into another thingy that might be an adapter? or just holds it better idk and THAT thingy connects the mic pack and microphone.) they might be more expensive or fragile then the mics they use currently, but i would like to see some companies or groups try them, specifically for concerts.

The Role of a Wedding DJ in Making Your Reception Memorable
Tumblr media
The wedding reception is the highlight of any wedding day. It's the time for the newlyweds and their guests to let loose, dance, and celebrate the joyous occasion. And while the wedding venue, décor, and food are all important elements in creating a memorable wedding reception, the role of a wedding DJ is equally crucial.
A wedding DJ is responsible for setting the tone and atmosphere of the wedding reception. They keep the energy high, create a fun and entertaining environment, and ensure that the dance floor stays full throughout the night. A professional wedding DJ has the ability to read the crowd and adjust the music selection accordingly to keep everyone engaged and entertained.
The wedding DJ typically plays a variety of music genres to cater to all guests. This includes current hits, classic wedding songs, and even traditional music for cultural or religious ceremonies. They also help the bride and groom choose the perfect first dance song and other special dances such as the father-daughter and mother-son dances.
The wedding DJ is also responsible for making announcements throughout the reception. They keep the guests informed of important events such as cake cutting, bouquet tossing, and garter removal. They also work closely with the wedding planner and other vendors to ensure that everything runs smoothly and according to schedule.
But the role of a wedding DJ goes beyond just playing music and making announcements. They are also responsible for creating a personalized and unique experience for the bride and groom and their guests. A skilled wedding DJ will take the time to get to know the couple's music tastes, personalities, and wedding theme, and incorporate these elements into the music selection and overall vibe of the reception.
One way that a wedding DJ can make a reception memorable is by creating a customized playlist. This means working with the couple to select songs that are meaningful to them, or have a special place in their relationship. This personalized playlist not only creates a unique atmosphere for the reception, but it also helps to create lasting memories for the couple and their guests.
Another way that a wedding DJ can make a reception memorable is by incorporating fun and interactive elements into the music selection. This could include playing games or having dance-offs to get everyone involved and having fun. A skilled DJ can also mix songs seamlessly, creating a continuous flow of music that keeps the dance floor packed all night long.
In addition, a wedding DJ can help to create a memorable reception by providing high-quality equipment and sound. A professional DJ will have top-of-the-line speakers, lighting, and other equipment to create a stunning visual and audio experience for guests. They will also have backup equipment in case of any technical difficulties.
When hiring a wedding DJ, it's important to choose a professional who has experience working with weddings. They should have a portfolio of previous events they have worked on, and be able to provide references from past clients. It's also important to have clear communication with the DJ leading up to the wedding day, so that they have a clear understanding of your expectations and preferences.
In conclusion, the role of a wedding DJ is integral to creating a memorable wedding reception. They set the tone and atmosphere of the event, create a personalized experience for the couple and their guests, and ensure that everyone has a great time on the dance floor. By working with a professional wedding DJ, couples can rest assured that their reception will be a fun, unforgettable celebration of their love.

not enough discussion about the gavins' complicated relationship with feminine-coded/beauty products, i don't think.
#for klavier because it's not as direct it's about how we never see him actually wearing lipstick? even though apollo literally attends#a concert of his which is where you'd most expect him to wear makeup. but apparently he just doesnt. or at least not in public#klavier gavin#kristoph gavin#i feel like there are several ways you can read into it. the misogyny/toxic masculinity one is really obvious clearly with kristoph's#singling out of men specifically and klavier's (probably accidental?) condescending manner of calling women 'fraulein' plus his general#mildly patronising attitude towards many of the women in the game (also probably unintentional)#(i think he's trying to be charming and it's coming off wrong to some of them. like ema. and me.)#but i feel like there's also maybe an element of... inherent perfecfionism to it? like both of these products are conventionally beautifyin#products and kristoph while he is open to showing people he uses nail polish specifically chooses one that's clear and missable unless you#see him apply it. he also feels the need to justify his use of it and specifically spell it out as something he chooses to do rather than#needs to do even though duh. that should be obvious.#idk there's just something about his seeming need to take control of that narrative that i find interesting. his need to spin it into a#'there's nothing wrong with my nails but I had the foresight to see that even the smallest parts of my appearance should be kept immaculate#and it's a choice i'm making to refine an already adequate part of my personage /not/ to cover some unsightly defect.' the need to emphasis#that specifically is so. hm. and with klavier i could see it being a case of him liking makeup liking the pops of colour yet being unwillin#to admit to it because he's afraid that other people might see it as him being dissatisfied with his own appearance regardless of if he is#or isn't. or even just perceiving colourful makeup as being unseemly because it's so overt and unnatural.#like i can see this as them both viewing 'real' beauty to be that which is inherent to a person and seemingly effortless#thus somehow negating the beauty which one achieves through cosmetics or other external means.#and if you want to use external means to achieve beauty or neatness or whatever then your only valid options are those which blend into you#natural state. like clear nail polish. or really awful spray tan.#i feel like klavier's less confined by these ideas (if they hold merit at all) considering he actually owns coloured lipstick and he wears#jewellery (admittedly quite 'masculine' jewellery no gems or pearls or anything like that but jewellery nonetheless) but i think it just#makes it more interesting that he doesnt seem quite able to cross the line anyway. like it's that ingrained into his system.#anyway that's all i've got. you guys should tell me what you think too#annotations

Scenario: Hobie and his bandmates pulling all-nighters to make songs
Tumblr media
•Lyrics written on paper, napkins, and someone’s arm
•Everyone huddled around Hobie as he writes the final rough draft in a worn out journal (some touches may be added or removed in the future)
•a mock performance to see what they’re working with
•Cans of soda on the nearby table as they wait for a song name to appear in front of them. A homemade pizza fresh and ready to help keep them awake cause this song gonna get finished.
•Making sure the lyrics instilled a sense of hope and liberation for the people before they called it a night at 8:44 in the morning

I keep finding ZNN's very different approaches in how they talk with the press and fans so fascinating. They're both used to getting teased and being asked personal questions of course. But where New is usually the type to imply, cutely and sassily show off, teasingly state "I'm not telling 🙂‍↔️", try to downplay, and getting endearingly teased by fans and reporters-- P'Zee jokes too, absolutely, but he sometimes casually and intentionally slips out more info than New would ever share lol but then he can also get really sincere and serious like at the end of today's interview (clip below). I'm also thinking about the countless times he's asked fans not to scream when all they're doing is taking care of each other (e.g. P'Zee wiping New's sweat for him), like all he wants sometimes is for the public to take him/them seriously.
Anyway, here's an update of sorts on the Much Discussed™️ kisses during NuNew's 1st concert (translations below the clip again, translated to the best of my ability but still keep in mind I'm not a native speaker 🙏)
NN: Behind the fan, I... the time I was wondering and brought my face closer, "Eh?" When he did [🪭💋], I guess I was a bit stunned but not much. But- the second one when he suddenly asked... I didn't think he'd ask... like- (Z: Yeah) somewhere with as many people as this.
Z: Because [unintelligible] shy/embarrassed.
NN: Right.
🗣: Shy
🗣: Have you stopped wondering yet? ×2
NN: ...
🗣: At first you were wondering but after the cheek/sniff kiss, did you stop wondering?
NN: Uh, well-
Z: After the sniff/cheek kiss, nhu criedddd
NN: 😸 ...well- no- ah- /shy shy shy
Z: 😁 & 🗣: 😂
🗣: Yeah, why did you cry?
Z, in reaction to whatever the male voice joked about: Don't tease nhu ×2
NN: Why did I cry? Because, like, what Hia said was so touching.
🗣: Ahh profound
NN: Hia spoke movingly and that was emotional (Z: Right) in terms of my feelings at the time because I'd been practicing for the concert... really hard and extensively, very tiring/tired (Z: Absolutely), and wanting it to turn out well. And me and hia have been walking this path together for a long time now, too. Hia has been part of every single step and journey of mine. When hia spoke, it moved me, and then hia suddenly asked to sniff/cheek kiss, even though- before this, hia has never- never, like- done... in a public place/in public at all. (Z: Yeah) So, I was, like- ...happy and also embarrassed. I just started crying all of a sudden, I didn't want to cry.
🗣: You just said 'never done this in public at all' (🗣: Uiii) meaning that- aside from this, there is something happening~
NN: 🤭
Z: There is ×2 [confirming - Yet Again. - that they often sniff/cheek kiss]
🗣: /acting like fujoshis lmao while NN giggles and Z tries to steer back to the sincerity of what this means to him/them
Z: I feel it [sniff/cheek kisses] is-
🗣: /more noises and yapping
Z: I- I/We're giving encouragement, meaning it's a way to show love and give encouragement.
🗣: Ahh~

More photos I took on Nine Inch Nails' Tension 2013 tour (see my previous post here), which was running 10 years ago this month.
The expanded eight-person band included Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Robin Finck, Pino Palladino, Trent Reznor, Ilan Rubin, and for the first time the addition of backup vocalists, Lisa Fischer and Sharlotte Gibson.
You can watch an 80-minute film of the Tension Tour on YouTube, and there are some excellent fan-produced Tension concert films as well. Worth checking out if you’ve never seen this truly one-of-a-kind presentation of NIN.

How to Choose the Right Corporate DJ for Your Business Gathering
Tumblr media
Introduction
Planning a successful business gathering involves numerous details, from logistics to entertainment. When it comes to creating the perfect atmosphere, the choice of a corporate DJ can make or break your event. But with so many options available, how do you ensure you select the right DJ for your business gathering? In this comprehensive guide, we'll walk you through the process, providing expert insights and tips every step of the way.
How to Choose the Right Corporate DJ for Your Business Gathering
When it comes to choosing the right corporate DJ, there are several factors to consider. To make this process easier for you, we've broken it down into 11 expert tips that cover everything you need to know.
1. Define Your Event's Style and Goals
Before diving into the search for a corporate DJ, it's crucial to understand the style and goals of your business gathering. Are you hosting a formal conference or a casual networking event? Knowing your event's ambiance and objectives will help you find a DJ who aligns with your vision.
2. Establish Your Budget
Budgeting is a key aspect of event planning. Determine how much you can allocate to your DJ services without compromising other essential elements of your gathering. Remember that experienced DJs may come with a higher price tag but can significantly impact the quality of your event.
3. Research Local DJs
Start your search by looking for local corporate DJs. They are often more familiar with the area, making logistics smoother. Use online platforms, ask for recommendations, and read reviews to create a shortlist of potential DJs.
4. Check Their Experience
Experience matters when it comes to corporate DJs. Look for professionals who have a track record of successful events similar to yours. Ask for references and inquire about the types of events they have previously handled.
5. Review Their Music Portfolio
Every DJ has a unique style and music portfolio. Listen to their mixes or attend one of their live performances to get a sense of their musical taste and how it fits with your event's vibe.
6. Evaluate Their Equipment
High-quality sound and lighting equipment are essential for a memorable event. Ensure that the DJ you choose uses professional-grade gear to guarantee a seamless audio and visual experience.
7. Discuss Song Selection and Customization
A great corporate DJ should be able to curate a playlist that matches your event's theme and preferences. Discuss your musical preferences and any specific songs or genres you want to include or avoid.
8. Inquire About Their Interaction with the Audience
Engaging with the audience is a crucial skill for a corporate DJ. Ask potential DJ about how they interact with the crowd, make announcements, and handle requests to keep the energy high.
9. Clarify Contract Terms
Before finalizing your choice, thoroughly review the contract terms. Pay attention to details like the DJ's start and end times, backup plans in case of emergencies, and cancellation policies.
10. Request a Live Demo
Whenever possible, attend a live performance or request a demo from your selected DJ. This will give you a firsthand experience of their skills and stage presence.
11. Get Everything in Writing
Once you've made your decision, ensure that all the agreed-upon details are documented in a written contract. This helps prevent misunderstandings and provides legal protection for both parties.
FAQs
How much should I budget for a corporate DJ?
A - Your budget for a corporate DJ can vary depending on their experience and the complexity of your event. On average, expect to spend between $500 and $2,000.
What types of events can a corporate DJ handle?
A - Corporate DJs are versatile and can perform at a wide range of events, including conferences, galas, product launches, and team-building events.
Do I need to provide equipment for the DJ?
A- Most professional DJs come with their equipment, including sound systems and lighting. However, it's essential to confirm this with your chosen DJ.
Can I request specific songs or genres for the playlist? A - Absolutely. Discuss your musical preferences with the DJ, and they should be able to accommodate your requests and create a customized playlist.
What if the DJ I booked cancels at the last minute? A - Ensure that your contract includes a contingency plan for such situations. Reputable DJs will have backup options or colleagues who can step in if needed.
How far in advance should I book a corporate DJ?
It's advisable to book your corporate DJ at least 6-12 months in advance, especially if your event falls during a busy season.
Conclusion
Selecting the right corporate DJ for your business gathering is a crucial decision that can greatly influence the overall success of your event. By following these 11 expert tips and considering your event's style, budget, and goals, you can ensure that you choose the perfect musical accompaniment to create a memorable experience for your attendees.

Post concert depression is still hitting HARD so I'm sharing this little video of Wallows performing Wish Me Luck cuz I still can't believe we actually got that song live. Brussels night 1 was being SPOILED and I loved every second of it🥹🩷
