Military thin ribbons, also known as service ribbons or military awards, are a symbol of a soldier's accomplishments and service to their country. They have a long and rich history, dating back to the earliest days of military conflict, and continue to play an important role in military traditions today. In this blog post, we'll delve deeper into the history and significance of military thin ribbons.
The History of Military Thin Ribbons
The tradition of military thin ribbons can be traced back to the early days of the military conflict when soldiers were awarded badges of honor for their bravery and service. These early decorations were often made of metal and worn on the chest or lapel of the uniform. Over time, the tradition evolved and in today's military thin ribbons are a more compact and streamlined way of recognizing a soldier's achievements.
The Significance of Military Thin Ribbons
Military thin ribbons serve a number of important functions, including:
Recognizing a soldier's achievements: Military thin ribbons are a way of acknowledging and recognizing the achievements of soldiers, both on and off the battlefield. They serve as a visual representation of a soldier's hard work and dedication to their country.
Encouraging patriotism and pride: Military thin ribbons encourage soldiers to take pride in their achievements and to feel a sense of patriotism for their country. They are a way of honoring the sacrifices that soldiers make in service to their country, and a way of showing appreciation for their service.
Preserving military traditions: Military thin ribbons play an important role in preserving military traditions and passing them down from generation to generation. They are a way of keeping the memory of soldiers' sacrifices alive, and inspiring future generations to continue their legacy of service and bravery.
Conclusion
Military thin ribbons are a powerful symbol of a soldier's achievements and service to their country. They have a rich and fascinating history and continue to play an important role in military traditions today. Whether you are a veteran, an active military member, or simply interested in learning more about military traditions, understanding the significance of military thin ribbons is an important part of appreciating and honoring the sacrifices of those who serve our country.

A thorough analysis of medals, ribbons, and awards in Top Gun: Maverick
Have you ever wanted to know what medals The Dagger Squad and company wear in TGM? I did, and then I just kept reading and then I started a google doc and now I have a list I can share with all of you! (I feel like my brain might actually be melting)
I have done my absolute best to identify as many of their medals/ribbons as possible based on the clearest images I could find, and I have tried my best to comment on how realistic they may be for these characters. The photos I referenced for this deep dive are included at the bottom of this post.
Analysis below the cut
LT. Jake “Hangman” Seresin He wears 9 ribbons on his uniform.
Air Medal (is awarded for single acts of heroism or meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.)
Navy / Marine Corps commendation medal (is awarded for sustained acts of of heroism or meritorious service) *Jake wears an additional device on his but it doesn’t look like a star. It is likely a bronze “V” for valour worn to denote that the award was given for combat heroism.
Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal (awarded to those who have performed commendably in routine duties or exceptional achievements, that a higher award has not recognised.) *Jake wears 2 bronze stars on this ribbon indicating he has been given this award 3 times.
Navy Unit Commendation (awarded to members of a unit that displayed outstanding acts of heroism).
National Defense Service Ribbon (It was awarded to every member of the U.S. Armed Forces who served during any one of four specified periods of armed conflict or national emergency from June 27, 1950, through December 31, 2022.)
Afghanistan Campaign medal (The Afghanistan Campaign Medal is awarded to those who performed duty within the borders of Afghanistan (or its airspace) for a period of thirty consecutive days or sixty non-consecutive days.) * The pin Jake wears on his ribbon looks like a Fleet Marine Force combat operation insignia indicates that he may have been assigned to a unit that operated under a Marine Corps attachment and carried out duties under the Marine Corps operational control
Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (medal may be awarded to members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard, for service in Iraq, Syria, or contiguous waters or airspace)
Global War on Terrorism Medal (Awarded to members of the United States military who have supported operations to counter-terrorism anywhere in the world any time after 2001)
Navy/ Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbon (Given to a member of the Navy and Marine Corps who is assigned to a deployable unit operating away from its home port for 90 days or two consecutive periods of at least 80 days within a 12-month period; or six months stationed overseas.) *Jake wears two stars on his ribbon. I can’t tell if they are silver or bronze. Bronze would indicate he has met this criteria 3 times during his service. Two silver stars would 10. Both are possible for his character.
From what I can tell, and the research I have done, Jake’s medals make sense for his age, rank, and experience level. They all seem to be displayed in the correct order of precedence.
LT. Natasha “Pheonix” Trace Natasha also wears 9 ribbons on her uniform.
Air Medal (is awarded for single acts of heroism or meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.)
Navy / Marine Corps commendation medal (is awarded for sustained acts of of heroism or meritorious service) *Natasha wears hers with 2 bronze stars which would indicate that she has received the commendation 3 times.
Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal (awarded to those who have performed commendably in routine duties or exceptional achievements, that a higher award has not recognised.) *Natasha wears 2 bronze stars on this ribbon indicating she has been given this award 3 times.
National Defense Service Ribbon (It was awarded to every member of the U.S. Armed Forces who served during any one of four specified periods of armed conflict or national emergency from June 27, 1950, through December 31, 2022.)
Afghanistan Campaign Medal (The Afghanistan Campaign Medal is awarded to those who performed duty within the borders of Afghanistan (or its airspace) for a period of thirty consecutive days or sixty non-consecutive days.)
Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (medal may be awarded to members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard, for service in Iraq, Syria, or contiguous waters or airspace)
Global War on Terrorism Medal (Awarded to members of the United States military who have supported operations to counter-terrorism anywhere in the world any time after 2001)
Navy/ Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbon (Given to a member of the Navy and Marine Corps who is assigned to a deployable unit operating away from its home port for 90 days or two consecutive periods of at least 80 days within a 12-month period; or six months stationed overseas.) *Natasha wears a pin/device on her ribbon, though it’s significantly smaller than the stars she wears on her other ribbons. The only devices authorized to be worn with this ribbon are bronze or silver stars, so I’m unsure what it is.
NATO Medal (The NATO Medal is a decoration presented by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to recognize international NATO military members who have participated in various peacekeeping operations.) However, there are 10 different variations and versions of this medal and I can’t see in enough detail to confirm which one it is that Natasha wears.
Again, from the research I’ve done, the ribbons that Natasha wears seem to make sense for her age, rank, and experience level. I have not been able to confirm if her NATO ribbon is in the correct order of presence, but I do believe it is.
LT. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw
I can find only one image of him in his uniform and wearing his ribbons. However, I would have to assume that it’s an older photo and would have been taken long before the beginning of the beginning of the TGM film timeline and that he would have more by the time we see him on screen. I would also expect that having his papers pulled and being held back in his career timeline may have changed things for him as well. But, he’s wearing 8 ribbons in the photo. This could be a continuity error but I have no way of knowing for sure. Alas, I can only break down what I can see. (But if anyone can find me a still from the film where we can see his current ribbons I’d be over the moon).
Air Medal (is awarded for single acts of heroism or meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.)
Navy / Marine Corps commendation medal (is awarded for sustained acts of of heroism or meritorious service) *Bradley wears his with 2 bronze stars which would indicate that he has received the commendation 3 times.
Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal (awarded to those who have performed commendably in routine duties or exceptional achievements, that a higher award has not recognised.) *Bradley wears 2 bronze stars on this ribbon indicating he has been given this award 3 times.
Global War on Terrorism Medal (Awarded to members of the United States military who have supported operations to counter-terrorism anywhere in the world any time after 2001)
Navy/ Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbon (Given to a member of the Navy and Marine Corps who is assigned to a deployable unit operating away from its home port for 90 days or two consecutive periods of at least 80 days within a 12-month period; or six months stationed overseas.) *Bradley wears two silver stars on his ribbon which would indicate that he has met this criteria 10 times.
Beyond the question of timeline, I would say that these ribbons all make sense for his level of experience, his rank, and his age. The ribbons all seem to be displayed in the correct order of precedence.
LT. Mickey “Fanboy” Garcia Mickey wears eight ribbons on his uniform.
Air Medal (is awarded for single acts of heroism or meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.)
Navy / Marine Corps commendation medal (is awarded for sustained acts of of heroism or meritorious service) *Mickey wears his with 2 bronze stars which would indicate that he has received the commendation 3 times.
Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal (awarded to those who have performed commendably in routine duties or exceptional achievements, that a higher award has not recognised.) *Mickey wears 1 bronze star on this ribbon indicating he has been given this award 2 times.
Global War on Terrorism Medal (Awarded to members of the United States military who have supported operations to counter-terrorism anywhere in the world any time after 2001)
Navy/ Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbon (Given to a member of the Navy and Marine Corps who is assigned to a deployable unit operating away from its home port for 90 days or two consecutive periods of at least 80 days within a 12-month period; or six months stationed overseas.) *Mickey wears two bronze stars on his ribbon which would indicate that he has met this criteria 3 times.
From what I can tell, and the research I have done, all of these medals make sense for his age, rank, and experience level. They all seem to be displayed in the correct order of precedence.
LT. Reuben “Payback” Fitch Reuben wears 9 ribbons on his uniform
Air Medal (is awarded for single acts of heroism or meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.)
Navy / Marine Corps commendation medal (is awarded for sustained acts of of heroism or meritorious service) *Reuben wears his with 1 star, but I can’t quite tell for sure if it’s bronze or silver. One bronze star would indicate that he has received the commendation 2times. One Silver star would indicate 5 times. Both would be possible.
Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who, after July 1, 1958, participated in U.S. military operations, U.S. operations in direct support of the United Nations, or U.S. operations of assistance for friendly foreign nations). It is hard to tell from the photos I have if this is for sure the correct medal, but it’s the only one that fits the colour order I can see.
Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal (awarded to those who have performed commendably in routine duties or exceptional achievements, that a higher award has not recognised.) *Reuben wears his with 2 bronze stars indicating he’s been given this award 3 times.
Global War on Terrorism Medal (Awarded to members of the United States military who have supported operations to counter-terrorism anywhere in the world any time after 2001)
Navy/ Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbon (Given to a member of the Navy and Marine Corps who is assigned to a deployable unit operating away from its home port for 90 days or two consecutive periods of at least 80 days within a 12-month period; or six months stationed overseas.) *Rueben wears one star on his ribbon. I cannot confirm whether it is a bronze star or a silver star. A bronze star would indicate that he has met this criteria 3 times. A silver star would indicate he met this criteria 10 times.
If the third ribbon Rueben wears is the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal I am 95% sure it would be in the wrong order. I believe it should come after his Afghanistan Campaign medal and before his Inherent Resolve Campaign medal for them to be displayed in the correct order of precedence.
LT. Robert “BOB” Floyd Robert wears seven ribbons on his uniform.
Navy / Marine Corps commendation medal (is awarded for sustained acts of of heroism or meritorious service) *Bob wears his with 2 bronze stars which would indicate that he has received the commendation 3 times.
Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal (awarded to those who have performed commendably in routine duties or exceptional achievements, that a higher award has not recognised.) *Bob wears 2 bronze stars on this ribbon indicating he has been given this award 3 times.
Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (medal may be awarded to members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard, for service in Iraq, Syria, or contiguous waters or airspace)
Global War on Terrorism Medal (Awarded to members of the United States military who have supported operations to counter-terrorism anywhere in the world any time after 2001)
Navy/ Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbon (Given to a member of the Navy and Marine Corps who is assigned to a deployable unit operating away from its home port for 90 days or two consecutive periods of at least 80 days within a 12-month period; or six months stationed overseas.) *Bob wears a pin/device on this ribbon, though it’s significantly smaller than the stars he wears on his other ribbons. The only devices authorized to be worn with this ribbon are bronze or silver stars, so I’m unsure what it is.
From what I can tell, and the research I have done, all of these medals make sense for his age, rank, and experience level. They all seem to be displayed in the correct order of precedence.
LT. Javy “Coyote” Machado Javy wears nine ribbons.
Air Medal (is awarded for single acts of heroism or meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.)
Navy / Marine Corps commendation medal (is awarded for sustained acts of of heroism or meritorious service) *Javy wears his with 2 star bronze stars so he has been given this commendation 3 times.
Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal (awarded to those who have performed commendably in routine duties or exceptional achievements, that a higher award has not recognised.) *Javy wears 1 bronze star on this ribbon indicating he has been given this award 2 times.
Global War on Terrorism Medal (Awarded to members of the United States military who have supported operations to counter-terrorism anywhere in the world any time after 2001)
Navy/ Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbon (Given to a member of the Navy and Marine Corps who is assigned to a deployable unit operating away from its home port for 90 days or two consecutive periods of at least 80 days within a 12-month period; or six months stationed overseas.) *Javy wears what looks like one bronze star on this ribbon which would indicate he has met this criteria twice. But I haven’t been able to find a clear enough image to confirm.
From what I can tell, and the research I have done, all of these medals make sense for his age, rank, and experience level. They all seem to be displayed in the correct order of precedence.
CWO Bernie “Hondo” Coleman Hondo wears 15 ribbons on his uniform
Purple Heart (Given to members of the US Military who have been wounded or killed in any action against an enemy of the United States or as a result of an act of any such enemy or opposing armed forces)
Meritorious Service Medal (presented to members of the United States Armed Forces who distinguish themselves with outstanding meritorious achievement or service to the United States.)
Navy / Marine Corps commendation medal (is awarded for sustained acts of of heroism or meritorious service) *Hondo wears his with 1 bronze star so he has been given this commendation twice.
Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal (awarded to those who have performed commendably in routine duties or exceptional achievements, that a higher award has not recognised.) *Hondo wears 1 bronze star on this ribbon indicating he has been given this award 2 times.
Meritorious Unit Commendation (awarded to members of a unit who have shown Valorous or meritorious achievement or service, or exceptionally meritorious conduct and outstanding achievement or service, in combat or non-combat.)
Navy E Ribbon (Awarded to service members who were on permanent duty aboard a U.S. Navy ship or in a unit that won a battle efficiency competition after July 1, 1974.)* Hondo wears a silver wreathed E pin on his ribbon showing he has received this award 5 or more times.
Good Conduct Medal (awarded to any active duty enlisted member of the United States military who completes three consecutive years of "honorable and faithful service," without any non-judicial punishment, disciplinary infractions, or court martial offenses.)
Iraq Campaign Medal (The Iraq Campaign Medal is awarded to those who performed duty within the borders of Iraq (or its territorial waters) for a period of thirty consecutive days or sixty non-consecutive days.)
Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (For military service members who have deployed overseas in direct service to the War on Terror starting from 2001 to a date to be determined.)
Global War on Terrorism Medal (Awarded to members of the United States military who have supported operations to counter-terrorism anywhere in the world any time after 2001)
Armed Forces Service Medal (Awarded to Service members who have participated in “significant action” for which no other service or campaign medal is authorized, ie. military operation that did not encounter foreign armed opposition or imminent hostile action)
Humanitarian Service Medal (Awarded to service members who partake in military acts or operations which are deemed to be humanitarian in nature)
Navy/ Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbon (Given to a member of the Navy and Marine Corps who is assigned to a deployable unit operating away from its home port for 90 days or two consecutive periods of at least 80 days within a 12-month period; or six months stationed overseas.)
His Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal from what I understand would have later been replaced with the Afghanistan and Iraq Campaign Medals which he has also received and wears. He would not have received all three, so this is odd. Regardless, the ribbons he wears are in the correct order of precedence and make sense for his age and rank. However, I have less direct context and understanding of his role as a Chief Warrant Officer and what his career path may have looked like compared to the Dager Squad members and cannot comment on whether or not he is missing any that you may expect to see on a CWO.
CAPT. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell Maverick wears 22 ribbons on his uniform
Silver Star Medal (awarded primarily to members of the United States Armed Forces for gallantry in action against an enemy of the United States. It is the third-highest decoration for valour in combat)
Legion of Merit (for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements.)
Defense Meritorious Service Medal (For members of the armed forces who while serving in a joint activity showed outstanding achievement or meritorious service in non-combat situations, but not of a degree to warrant award of the Defense Superior Service Medal.)
Meritorious Service Medal (awarded to those who have shown meritorious achievement or service to the United States.)
Air Medal (is awarded for single acts of heroism or meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.) *Mav wears a bronze pin device on his ribbon on the second yellow stripe. This is usually a strike/flight numerals device. I cannot make out the number, but this would serve to indicate the number of Strike/Flight awards given for operations in hostile territory and count the total number of Strikes (operations that faced enemy opposition) and Flights (operations that did not encounter enemy opposition) added together.
Navy / Marine Corps commendation medal (is awarded for sustained acts of of heroism or meritorious service) *Mav wears his with 3 silver stars implying he has received this award a total of 15 times
Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal (awarded to those who have performed commendably in routine duties or exceptional achievements, that a higher award has not recognised.)
Combat Action Ribbon (Given to United States Sea Service Members who have actively participated in ground or surface combat)
Joint Meritorious Unit Award (given to joint units or units tasked with a joint mission where they have displayed meritorious achievement or service beyond what is normally expected, or for actions in combat with an armed enemy of the, a declared national emergency, or under extraordinary circumstances of national interest)
Navy E Ribbon (Awarded to service members who were on permanent duty aboard a U.S. Navy ship or in a unit that won a battle efficiency competition after July 1, 1974.)* Mav wears a silver E pin on his ribbon showing he has received this award 2 times.
National Defense Service Ribbon (It was awarded to every member of the U.S. Armed Forces who served during any one of four specified periods of armed conflict or national emergency from June 27, 1950, through December 31, 2022.)
Armed Forces Service Medal (Awarded to Service members who have participated in “significant action” for which no other service or campaign medal is authorized, ie. military operation that did not encounter foreign armed opposition or imminent hostile action)
South West Asia Service Medal (Awarded to those who participated in operations in South West Asia between 1990 and 1995. Including participation in operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Operations and support may have been carried out in any of the following nations and/or areas: Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Eygpt, Türkiye, Syria, Jordan, Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Gulf of Oman, Gulf of Aden) *Mav wears 2 bronze stars indicating he served in 2 of 3 major campaigns. His bronze stars are pinned in the incorrect positions however, they should not be centred side by side, but rather one on each of the inside yellow stripes.
Afghanistan Campaign Medal (The Afghanistan Campaign Medal is awarded to those who performed duty within the borders of Afghanistan (or its airspace) for a period of thirty consecutive days or sixty non-consecutive days.) *Maverick wears two bronze stars on this ribbon indicating he served during 2 of the 6 campaign phases. Once again his stars are in the incorrect positions. Instead of being centred side by side, they should each be on each of the inner black stripes.
Iraq Campaign Medal (The Iraq Campaign Medal is awarded to those who performed duty within the borders of Iraq (or its territorial waters) for a period of thirty consecutive days or sixty non-consecutive days.) *Maverick wears two bronze stars on this ribbon indicating he served during 2 of the 7 campaign phases. Once again his stars are in the incorrect positions. Instead of being centred side by side, they should each be on each of the inner black stripes.
Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (For military service members who have deployed overseas in direct service to the War on Terror starting from 2001 to a date to be determined.)
Global War on Terrorism Medal (Awarded to members of the United States military who have supported operations to counter-terrorism anywhere in the world any time after 2001)
Navy/ Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbon (Given to a member of the Navy and Marine Corps who is assigned to a deployable unit operating away from its home port for 90 days or two consecutive periods of at least 80 days within a 12-month period; or six months stationed overseas.)
United Nations Medal (award for any action in which a member of the military participated in a joint UN activity)
Kuwait Liberation Medal (Awarded by the government of Kuwait to regional and foreign military personnel who served during the Gulf War’s “Liberation of Kuwait” campaign phase between 1990 and 1993.
Navy Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon (Issued to members of the Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard who pass their weapons qualification course with an above-average score) *Mav wears an E on his ribbon indicating that he has achieved an “expert” qualification.
Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon (Issued to members of the Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard who pass their weapons qualification course with an above-average score) *Mav wears an E on his ribbon indicating that he has achieved an “expert” qualification.
I do have questions about how many years he’s been serving and only making it to the rank of Captain but he also has not received, or at least does not wear any ribbons for good conduct, and he is known to rock the boat so I will suspend my disbelief.
VADM. Beau “Cyclone” Simpson Cyclone wears 19 ribbons on his uniform
Bronze Star Medal (heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone.)
Purple Heart (Given to members of the US Military who have been wounded or killed in any action against an enemy of the United States or as a result of an act of any such enemy or opposing armed forces)
Meritorious Service Medal (awarded to those who have shown meritorious achievement or service to the United States.)
Joint Service Commendation Medal (meritorious achievement or service in a joint duty capacity.)
Navy / Marine Corps commendation medal (is awarded for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service) *Beau wears his with 2 silver stars so he has been given this commendation 10 times.
Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal (awarded to those who have performed commendably in routine duties or exceptional achievements, that a higher award has not recognised.) *Cyclone wears 2 bronze stars on this ribbon indicating he has been given this award 3 times.
Navy Unit Commendation (awarded to members of a unit that displayed outstanding acts of heroism). *Cyclone wears a device on this ribbon, it’s not a star, but from what I’ve read there are no other devices authorized to wear with this ribbon.
Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation ( for valorous or meritorious achievement or service in combat or non-combat situations)
Navy E Ribbon (Awarded to service members who were on permanent duty aboard a U.S. Navy ship or in a unit that won a battle efficiency competition after July 1, 1974.)* Cyclone wears a silver E pin with a wreath on his ribbon showing he has received this award 5 times.
Good Conduct Medal (awarded to any active duty enlisted member of the United States military who completes three consecutive years of "honourable and faithful service," without any non-judicial punishment, disciplinary infractions, or court martial offences.) *Beau wears what looks to be 2 stars on this ribbon. I cannot tell what colour they are. 2 bronze would me he’s received this award 3 times for 9 consecutive years of honorable service. 2 silver would mean he’s received this award 10 times for 30 consecutive years of honorable service. However, before 1996 they were awarded every 4 years. So I think we’re likely looking at between 20-25 years of service, which makes sense for his rank.
Navy Expeditionary Medal ( Awarded to enlisted Navy service members who were confirmed to have landed on foreign territory and engaged in operations against armed opposition)
National Defense Service Ribbon (It was awarded to every member of the U.S. Armed Forces who served during any one of four specified periods of armed conflict or national emergency from June 27, 1950, through December 31, 2022.)

Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (Awarded to members of the United States military who have supported operations to counter-terrorism anywhere in the world any time after 2001)
UNIDENTIFIED SERVICE MEDAL
Navy/ Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbon (Given to a member of the Navy and Marine Corps who is assigned to a deployable unit operating away from its home port for 90 days or two consecutive periods of at least 80 days within a 12-month period; or six months stationed overseas.) *Beau wears what looks like one bronze star on this ribbon which would indicate he has met this criteria twice. But I haven’t been able to find a clear enough image to confirm.
Navy Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon (Issued to members of the Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard who pass their weapons qualification course with an above-average score) *Beau wears an E on his ribbon indicating that he has achieved an “expert” qualification.
Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon (Issued to members of the Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard who pass their weapons qualification course with an above-average score) *Cyclone wears an E on his ribbon indicating that he has achieved an “expert” qualification.
His Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, from what I understand, would have later been replaced with his Iraq Campaign Medal which he has also received and wears. He would not have received both, so this is odd. Regardless, the ribbons he wears are in the correct order of precedence and make sense for his age and rank. However, I have less direct context and understanding of his role as a Vice Admiral and what his career path may have looked like compared to the Dager Squad members, and cannot comment on whether or not he is missing any that you may expect to see on a VADM.
RADM. Solomon “Warlock” Bates Warlock wears 22 ribbons on his uniform
Legion of Merit (for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements.)
Bronze Star Medal (heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone.)

Navy Unit Commendation (awarded to members of a unit that displayed outstanding acts of heroism).
UNIDENTIFIED SERVICE MEDAL
Navy E Ribbon (Awarded to service members who were on permanent duty aboard a U.S. Navy ship or in a unit that won a battle efficiency competition after July 1, 1974.)* Warlock wears 3 silver E pins on his ribbon showing he has received this award 4 times.
Good Conduct Medal (awarded to any active duty enlisted member of the United States military who completes three consecutive years of "honourable and faithful service," without any non-judicial punishment, disciplinary infractions, or court martial offences.) *Solomon wears what looks to be 2 stars on this ribbon.
Iraq Campaign Medal (The IraqCampaign Medal is awarded to those who performed duty within the borders of Iraq (or its territorial waters) for a period of thirty consecutive days or sixty non-consecutive days.) *Warlock wears two bronze stars on this ribbon indicating he served during 2 of the 7 campaign phases.
Global War on Terrorism Medal (Awarded to members of the United States military who have deployed in support of the War on Terror to locations beyond Iraq and Afghanistan.)
Humanitarian Service Medal (Awarded to service members who partake in military acts or operations which are deemed to be humanitarian in nature)
Navy/ Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbon (Given to a member of the Navy and Marine Corps who is assigned to a deployable unit operating away from its home port for 90 days or two consecutive periods of at least 80 days within a 12-month period; or six months stationed overseas.) *Warlock wears what looks like 3 bronze star on this ribbon which would indicate he has met this criteria 4 times. But I haven’t been able to find a clear enough image to confirm.
Navy Overseas Service Ribbon (recognizes those service members who have performed military tours outside the borders of the United States of America. 12 months of consecutive or accumulated duty at an overseas shore-based duty station)
United Nations Medal (award for any action in which a member of the military participated in a joint UN activity)
Navy Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon (Issued to members of the Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard who pass their weapons qualification course with an above-average score) *Solomon wears an E on his ribbon indicating that he has achieved an “expert” qualification.
Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon (Issued to members of the Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard who pass their weapons qualification course with an above-average score) *Warlock wears an E on his ribbon indicating that he has achieved an “expert” qualification.
However, I have less direct context and understanding of his role as a Rear Admiral and what his career path may have looked like compared to the Dager Squad members, and cannot comment on whether or not he is missing any that you may expect to see on a RADM.

The Devil Doc & The Flyboy | Sneak Peek
Hangman x Marine Corpsman-Devil Doc!OC
Every time Fiona "Kitten" Reid is deployed, something bad happens. Win-a-medal type bad. And when Warlock is looking for a survivalist instructor for the Daggers during the uranium mission, he's shocked that the top recommendation from his colleagues is a young medical corpsman the Marines she served with dubbed "Kitten." After making a grand entrance at the expense of Jake's older brother and Bob's sanity, Fiona finds herself squarely in Hangman's sights. But he better pay attention in class because her lessons come from more than a textbook...
“Corpsman Reid, at ease.” The Rear Admiral better known as Warlock motioned for her to take a seat. It was the first time that morning she was happy to be in uniform, she would have felt naked in scrubs.
“Sir,” She dug her short nails into her palm under the table, keeping her composure even as her pulse skyrocketed. You’re a marine, she chided herself, get a damn grip. She felt like the kid she had been before her first deployment with a marine detachment. A timid, little midwestern girl who didn’t drink or curse. The rough necks had had a fun time breaking her in.
They jokingly called her Kitten. As in a scared little kitten afraid of her own shadow. Then the worst had happened and they’d discovered that the kitten had claws. That’s when she became one of them, a marine. She felt the ghostly weight of two hands on her shoulders and sat a little straighter, meeting the Vice Admiral’s gaze head-on.
“I read your file, corpsman but your ribbon rack tells one hell of a story on its own.”
“Oorah, sir.”
“Two Purple Hearts, three bronze stars with combat valor, if you weren’t a corpsman you’d be well on your way to admiralty and a senate seat.” She must not have done a good job at disguising her disgust at being part of the brass, Warlock’s laughter filling the room.
“I asked for a shortlist of men for a special assignment and imagine my surprise when the first recommendation from a general was someone named Kitten.” Aw fuck.
Fiona’s smile couldn’t be helped. General Matteo Alverez. He had visited her detachment in Iraq for a dog and pony show and when things went south, as they always seemed to do when she was involved, he’d seen Fiona in action, running towards danger with a stethoscope around her neck.
“Am I going brown side out again, sir?” She could already feel the sand in her boots from another desert deployment. “Give the word.” She wanted him to give it to her straight. As much as she wanted to stay, she would always go if the Navy asked her to.
“I’m sure you’ve heard the scuttlebutt about a classified flight mission,” Warlock raised a white brow, knowing nothing classified stayed fully secret in a town like North Island. She nodded. “Enemy territory is a rough place to be,” Rough was putting it lightly in her experience and opinion. “I want you to prepare them, teach them how to survive. No manual, no guidelines, your experience will be their gospel.”’ That was…insane. She wasn’t an instructor. She would run towards live fire, snap a man’s neck, and put her phone on the bar when Penny wasn’t looking. She was used to doing dangerous and ill-advised things. But teach?
“Sir, I-”
“Before you respond, the General said to remind you that a true marine never runs from a fight.” Fiona sighed,
“Aye aye, sir. Just don’t give me a big chicken dinner when I kill your flyboys’ egos.” Warlock laughed, spilling coffee on his pristine uniform.
“If you can do that, I’ll give you another damn medal for doing the impossible.”
Big chicken dinner = Bad conduct discharge
Scuttlebutt = gossip
Can't wait for more? Let me know, I'll add you to the taglist.
Fiona and Jake's story is going to have mentions of combat, war, torture (nothing too graphic), too many Navy/Marine inaccuracies to count (I'm doing a lot of research though), plenty of good times at the Hard Deck, Warlock being an enabler, and Jake being the next in a long line of Top Gun students to be hot for teacher.

Steve’s Navy Record - Or, I noticed something interesting
From Pinterest, no credit given. Edit: found source, added link below!
While digging around for photos of the team’s headquarters, I found a close up somebody had taken of Steve’s display of his Navy medals and ribbons. What I found interesting is that his service is noted from 1993 to 2010. I know he went through BUD/S in 1999, and I guess I just never stopped to consider that entering the Naval Academy is considered part of his career.

I have been seeing this meme going around and I want to clear some things up with it. 1. E9 is NOT the highest rank in the Army, but it is the highest enlisted rank. Now even though Walz was in a sergeant major role he retired as a master sergeant because he had not completed the requirements of a command sergeant major academy. 2. Sargent Major is a rank but he would have held a different MOS where 13B – a cannon crewmember 13Z -field artillery senior sergeant 11Z—infantry senior sergeant 71L—administrative specialist. 3. Vance's awards are not all listed here and a number of them are the Navy / USMC corresponding awards to the Army. To include: USMC Good Conduct Medal Navy / USMC Achievement Medal Iraq Campaign Medal Sea Service - Deployment Ribbon Global War on Terror Service Medal National Defence Service Medal Letter of Appreciation (5) Meritorius Mast Certificate Expert Rifle (2) Expert Pistol MOS 4341 Combat Correspondent 4. Vance's DD214 is under the name Hamel, which he legally changed to Vance. As stated in his autobiography.
Here is the thing, for 4 years of service Vance has done a lot. I know some that did 2 years and got out to do better things, some come back some don't. I have been in service for almost 21 years, and have seen all types. I don't care if your service was 42 years (mandatory retirement is 60 years old) or if you served 2 years. If your service has been honorable and you did your job then that is all I ask of you.
A number of items would also be cleared up with Walz NGB22 the national guard version of a DD214. It would list rank, date of rank, schooling, awards (federal and state), qualification, etc. If he was placed on active duty as a National Guard soldier he would also have a DD214 for that time. I know this because my record has 6 DD214's from my service.

8 Weeks later
~~~~~~~~~
Positive +
You let out the air you were holding back, sliding down onto the floor. Tears in your eyes as you stare at the stick in your hands.
You wanted to share this moment with Simon 3 weeks ago but he got called in for Deployment.
What was supposed to last a week turned to another. A month later they said that they didn’t have an estimated date but that it would take much longer than they expected.
Simon sent out a message through one of his superior, to tell you to not wait on him to see the results.
You went out to the shops to get a test. Nervous to ask the nice teen behind the counter for a pregnancy test.
Thankful that she was very discreet about grabbing it and putting it in at the bottom of the bag so others wouldn’t see.
You waited 3 weeks to finally take the test due to you not having symptoms but missing your period.
Pulling the bag out from under your bed, you went to the bathroom to seek the truth
༶•┈┈┈┈┈┈୨♡୧┈┈┈┈┈•༶
4 Months in
~~~~~~~~~~~
Simon was coming home today.
A few weeks ago you received word of the mission being complete but they would have to make sure the civilians were alright.
You ended up graduating from college and getting your degree. 3 months pregnant walking down the aisle to receive your diploma. Good thing the gown hid the small bump you carried.
You were alone for that day but later had dinner with some friends but you knew someone was missing.
Simon
Oh how you missed him.
You guys never actually said anything about what you were. Was he your Boyfriend? Just the father to your child? Maybe this was a bad idea? Maybe your mom was right about no one loving you. Maybe she was right about everything?
You didn’t hear the door open when you were deep in your dark thoughts.
Black combat boots came into view as you were staring at the floor.
“Y/n.” A thick deep voice snapped you out of the dark place your mind has crawled into. You looked up and you saw not a man in a skull mask but a bare face man.
Simon
Your Simon?
Was he yours?
“Simon..Welcome home” you gave him a small smile.
“Are you ok? You seemed a bit lost in there?.” He pointed to your head.
“Yeah, just thinking of something..” your voice went quiet at the end.
“Do you want to talk about it?” He sat down right next to you and reached for your hands. Both hands in one big hand.
“N-no it’s ok- we should focus on your return.” You wanted to turn the attention away from you. “Is there anything you wanted to do?”
“Ask you a question.”
His eye contact was intense to you. Always finding it hard to keep. Always making your cheeks flood with red.
“Are you…are you pregnant?” The final word made him break the contact. Accidentally gripping too hard on your hands. Clearly he was as nervous as you were.
Instead of answering him you got up and walked in your room, coming back out with a small box with a ribbon around it.
Simon being on a lower level now, you stared down at him. Handing him the box.
Taking the box from you, he inspected it. Grabbing the lid off and taking some tissue paper out, till he saw the black and white photo.
A 4 month old baby ultrasound.
You were holding back tears.
Seeing him pick up the photo with wide eyes that then looked up at your covered stomach.
He reaches for you but hesitates.
You grab onto his hand and bring it under your sweater. Hand now touching your skin.
“Has it been hard for you?”
“Not really, just feeling more sore lately.”
“How many months are you in?”
“I’m 4 months in but soon it’ll be harder to hide my stomach.”
“Did you not want this?” Simon stood up quickly, hand still under your sweater.
“N-no, I mean I haven’t really told anyone because I wanted you to be the first.”
Simon just stood there with wide eyes because he assumed you already told some friends. Could his heart beat any faster?
“I’m s-still not used to it. I feel like I’m swollen every day and it’s getting harder to walk for a long period.”
“Want me to run you a bath? I can order your favorite?”
“Yes please, I would like that.”
༶•┈┈┈┈┈┈୨♡୧┈┈┈┈┈•༶
The birth
~~~~~~~~~
It was a girl.
You and Simon had a baby girl.
You were so exhausted after pushing for so long and just when you were going to go into surgery. She finally came out.
Through your exhaustion, you saw how Simon looked at her with so much love that you just started to cry.
Exhaustion being a big part but feeling like you did something that matters to someone else just made you break.
Was there a chance for you two?
“Congratulations,you two!” Said a nurse as she left you three alone.
“Can- can I hold her?”
You were still sobbing so you nodded, handing him his baby girl.
The sight of him holding her just made you cry even more.
Simon turned to you, pulling his mask up to his nose and bent down to place a kiss on your forehead.
“Thank you, for going through so much just for her.”
He placed his hand on your cheek, rubbing away the tears. “I’ll do anything for you.”
Maybe there was a chance.
༶•┈┈┈┈┈┈୨♡୧┈┈┈┈┈•༶
2 years later
~~~~~~~~~~~~
You and Simon have been raising your daughter for two years now. Though still not together, you were fine with just co-parenting.
The three of you went on your daily walk to the park. Hand in hand with your daughter, as Simon watched you two a few steps back.
He enjoyed just watching the two of you be together. Simon saw a lot of him in his daughter. She is always confident on her missions, climbing to the top of the park structure. Her way of keeping eye contact sometimes turns into a staring contest.
Your daughter was always struggling with the absence of her father when he would get deployed. Crying and throwing a huge tantrum that resulted in him having to leave immediately from the two of you without a goodbye.
Sometimes she wouldn’t say anything to Simon when he would return. Giving him the cold shoulder and attaching herself to you.
“Mama, can we go to room?” Immediately pulling your pants leg.
“But daddy just got here and would like to see you.” You already knew what she was doing.
“I want cuddles with you.” She said pushing her head to your leg and grabbing onto your arms.
Simon just watched this happen since he was used to this.
“Ok, but I don’t think daddy will give you the gift he brought you?”
Her eyes went wide and started running into his arms. Simon bending down and opening his arms for her to crash into.
“I missed you daddy.” Your daughter told Simon.
“I missed you too, sugar cube.” The cute nickname she earned since she would drown her tea in them.
The sun was setting and the cool breeze was flowing through the air.
Your daughter loves the park and you love the walks you and Simon take.
Always finding comfort in the walks. Always finding comfort in him.
“When do you think she’ll be able to finally say goodbye.” Simon asked as you two were walking around some trees.
“I’m not sure? Honestly I feel like she’s getting even worse. She tried opening the door with her stepping stool.” You said letting out a sigh.
“She’s getting smart.”
That earned Simon a small punch from you.
“I just want her to have a good memory with her being able to say goodbye in case I die.” Simon kept walking but you stopped.
Simon looked back to where you stood.
“Why would you say that!” You were upset.
“Because it’s the truth.”
“Why would you want to think like that?”
Tears started to build up.
“Y/n, i think it’s ok to think like that.”
“No Simon! I don’t want to think about that! About you leaving her! Leaving me!” The tears spilled out.
“I would never leave you.” He grabbed onto your wrists. “I will always be here even after-“
“Simon stop-“
“Even after, I’m gone.”
His eye contact was so hard to keep up with. You honestly hated how he pierced right through you.
“I love you.”
You were shocked. Mouth agape and eyes wide. Did you hear him right? The man who you stayed with. The man who held you when you were vulnerable. The man who gave you a child. The man who just said I love you to you. The man who you loved.
“I love you and I want you to be mine.”
“Simon” you grabbed onto his cheek.
“Will you be mine?”
You gave him a small slap to the face.
“Why did it take you so long?”
You pulled up his mask and pressed your lips against his.
“Why did I take so long?”

Dumb Post about Senator Mark Kelly
Usually I make Dumb Posts about animals, BUT Election 2024 is important and Harris is going to pick her VP soon so I want you to know about Mark Kelly.
The coolest, most meme-worthy politician ever, through shear awesomeness
Mark Kelly is the result of a cloning project to create the coolest VP candidate ever
Ok - that's not true, he's just an identical twin whose brother is also an astronaut (and yes, he's an astronaut, but that's not all)
SCIENTIST, PILOT, WAR HERO
He received a Bachelor of Science in marine engineering and nautical science from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, graduating with highest honors in 1986. In 1994, he received a Master of Science in aeronautical engineering from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School.
As a Navy Aviator he flew 39 combat missions in Operation Desert Storm.
Kelly has received two Defense Superior Service Medals; one Legion of Merit; two Distinguished Flying Crosses; four Air Medals (two individual/two strike flight) with Combat "V"; two Navy Commendation Medals, (one with combat "V"); one Navy Achievement Medal; two Southwest Asia Service Medals; one Navy Expeditionary Medal; two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons; a NASA Distinguished Service Medal; and an Overseas Service Ribbon.
Distinguished Flying Crosses are a BIG DEAL. You pretty much only get those for doing something's that’s worth making into a movie scene and he has TWO!
ASTRONAUT
Mark Kelly has logged over 54 days in space.
His Twin brother spent a YEAR IN SPACE (that's his brother on the cover - probably - but you get the idea that he also looked cool as an astronaut - and if you're wondering why he wasn't in space for a year, I'll get to that but the cool thing is cause he was retired while his brother was in space for a year he was the control in a twin study on the effects of being in space for a year)
That's probably also his brother, it's hard to google pictures when you have two identical twin brothers in space.
That's also Mark's twin brother Scott, because Mark smuggled a whole ass Gorilla Costume onto the International Space Station so his brother could go on a Gorilla rampage as a prank.
OK here he is
That's Mark Kelly!
My point is he's an astronaut, he's been to space, and the reason he left all that behind will bring you to tears and make you love him.
He's Mr. Gabby Giffords
Gabby Giffords served as a Congresswoman from Tucson, Arizona. When Giffords was sworn in on January 3, 2007, she was the third woman in Arizona's history to be elected to serve in the U.S. Congress and was a Democrat elected in a very Republican district.
When I met her she was very Mom Shaped. She took care of the community and cared about her constituents. To the point that she would fly to Arizona from Washington DC to do events where she would just be out on a street corner where you could go talk to her.
On January 8, 2011, at a “Congress On Your Corner” constituent event in Tucson, Gabby was shot in the head by a gunman who killed six people and injured 12 others.
At the time Mark Kelly was Cammander of the STS-134 he penultimate mission of NASA's Space Shuttle program and the 25th and last spaceflight of Space Shuttle Endeavour.
He stayed by his Wife's side for a month, when it was clear she was making progress in her recovery he announced on February 4, 2011, that he would remain commander of the mission. This would be his final mission.
He sent a love song to his wife from the International Space Station in the form of dedicating a song:
youtube
On June 21, 2011, Kelly announced that he would leave NASA's astronaut corps and the U.S. Navy effective October 1, to be with his wife and support her through her recovery:
Kelly became an outspoken advocate for gun control following the attempted assassination of his wife.
Still he dreamed of returning to space and worked out to keep his body mission ready.
"Kelly eventually compares everything to his time with NASA. As commander, he managed a small team of astronauts and worked within a sprawling bureaucracy. Every day pointed toward the same goal. There were checkpoints and to-do lists. The mission offered a clear dividing line between success and failure.
“It’s a very well-defined criteria of success,” Kelly said"
In 2020 he began a new mission serving as Senator for Arizona. A Moderate, he won twice in a swing state and would like draw some Republican voters who don't love Donald Trump over to the Harris ticket, should she choose him as VP.

Fallout 4 child! Sole Survivor OC: "Sunny" Evageline Roberts
A Kid Shouldn't be Here Masterlist
A/N: This is NOT romantic at all! This is all platonic relationships that explore how the Fallout 4 companions and game would change if the Sole Survivor was a young child. Any romantic suggestions or reblogs will be blocked.
____________________________________________________________
Name: “Sunny” Evangeline Roberts
Age: physically and mentally 12
Hair: Black, long, typically in twin braids tied in an old purple ribbon.
Eyes: Brown, rather big
Face: Round
Body Type: Lanky and stick-like, very beanpole energy
Clothing: Vault 111 suit, standard pip-boy, leather armor tighten as far as it will go (eventually will upgrade to combat armor), stealth boy, duffle bag, duster for cold weather, gains a Minuteman hat and one of Nick’s spare coats when she’s older
Likes: Sugar, mutifruit, teddy bears, long-distance weapons, Codsworth, Dogmeat, the other companions, comics, the Silver Shroud
Dislikes: Tatos, Cram, Super Mutants, being alone for any amount of time, being left behind on missions, melee weapons, the Institute, eventually the Brotherhood.
Fun facts:
The sniper rifle has probably permanently messed up her shoulder. When she’s standing, it sits lower than her other one.
Due to the lack of radiation exposure and proper nutrition when she was younger, tall genes from both parents, and food not being a big worry after Sanctuary and other settlements are set up, Sunny is going to be ridiculously tall by Commonwealth standards by the time she finishes growing. She already is the tallest 12 year old for sure. By the time she’s 18 and stops, the only companions taller than her are Nick and Danse.
Her parents' rings are kept in a safe at Sanctuary, she doesn’t want to lose them.
Has some serious attachment issues with Codsworth and, later, the rest of her companions. One has got to be around at all times. And being left completely alone is sure to bring tears. She gets a little better as time goes on, but never really grows out of it.
She was not planned. Nora was still in law school and Nate was about to leave for deployment when they found out they were expecting. Luckily, their families helped and they bought Codsworth not long before the birth.
“Sunny” isn’t her actual name, it’s a nickname. She doesn’t like her real name all that much, thinking it sounds like a dog name. She was upset that Shaun got a “real” name, but her parents wanted their names to match. The only person who still called her that was her paternal grandmother, who she was named after.
Being raised by a former soldier, a lawyer, and Codsworth means she’s very polite on how she addresses people. Everyone is Mr, Miss, Mrs, Mx, or some other title with their last name. If she likes you but still sees you as an authority figure, she’ll use their first name with a title, like Mr. Preston or Detective Nick. If she likes you but doesn’t see you as having any authority, she’ll eventually start calling you by your first name, like Deacon. If she doesn’t like you, you will only be called by your last name, or title, if lacking a last name, like Maxson. (This is how I still speak as an adult.)
She technically isn’t cleared for any missions for the factions she’s an honorary member of, but she goes on them anyway, too scared to not be there if her friends get hurt. Deacon, Cait, and Hancock encourage this behavior, Preston does not and has aged about 5 years from the stress she gives him.
She can’t carry nearly as much as the default player in the game, so the 2 companions are compensation for that.
She loved the Silver Shroud radio show pre-war, and was very excited to see there is still a radio station for it.
Her dad got a leg injury from a faulty Power Armor suit when she was 9, so he became a stay at home dad. That’s when her parents decided it was a good idea to have another kid. So that’s why there is such a big age gap between her and Shaun.

Overview
Proposed as part of Project BIG CAT for the Magistracy of Canopus, the Yaguara was designed by Majesty Metals and Manufacturing in 3146 as a fast moving, hard-hitting heavy 'Mech.
This custom variant, built for Inanna Allard-Liao, possesses an extremely dangerous close combat weapon - a 'Mech vibroblade, mounted on a 'Mech-scale myomer tail, in addition to most of the weaponry of the base configuration.
Capabilities
The Yaguara was built from the ground up with speed and long-ranged engagement in mind. Built around a supercharged Vlar 300 XL engine, the 'Mech can sprint over 86 kph, allowing it to keep up with lances comprised of much lighter 'Mechs than itself. It complements this ground speed with four Rawlings Model 60 jump jets, granting it a jumping distance of 120 meters for an extra mobility boost. Its armament is built around a pair of Clan-spec ER Large Lasers, uncommon in the region, and a Class-2 Rotary Autocannon, with a pair of SRM 6s and medium pulse lasers as close-engagement backups. All of this, unfortunately, comes at the cost of heat - the Yaguara was designed with bracket fire in mind, and MechWarriors are advised not to alpha strike without due cause. This custom variant was built for Inanna Allard-Liao. It is a hybrid Clantech refit, using many experimental technologies, as well as the removal of the previously-mounted SRM 6s, to allow for the addition of a custom myomer armored tail, with a 'Mech scale vibroblade mounted to the end. Complimenting this weapon are Triple-Strength Myomer and a Supercharger, to allow the 'Mech to reach truly incredible speeds for its weight.
Controlled by Inanna using a salvaged Word of Blake Buffered VDNI system, the 'Mech moves with the same fluid grace as its pilot. Advances in Belter/Canopian hybrid medical science have extended Inanna's lifespan estimate from 15 years to 75, and are predicted to have significantly extended the initial onset period for the madness which often accompanies use of neural interface systems.

Kelly locks down the election by being really cool, to the point of memeification. The person who predicted Trump would win 2016 despite the polls said simply, "The candidate talked about the most gets the most votes". Adding Kelly to the ticket increases the amount of people talking about the Harris/Kelly ticket.
And in case you're wondering - how cool is he?
Astronaut (During his 15-year NASA career, Mark Kelly logged in 54 days in space, including several missions to the International Space Station, and he has a NASA Distinguished Service Medal)
War Hero (Kelly has two Defense Superior Service Medals; one Legion of Merit; two Distinguished Flying Crosses; four Air Medals (two individual/two strike flight) with Combat “V”; two Navy Commendation Medals, (one with combat “V”); one Navy Achievement Medal; two Southwest Asia Service Medals; one Navy Expeditionary Medal; two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons; and an Overseas Service Ribbon.
Devoted husband of beloved former congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who was shot while visiting her constituents in the community.
(Here he is at her bedside, holding her hand, after she survived an assassination attempt. She was at a local grocery store in her district, see believed Congress should be on your corner, a gunman put a bullet in her head and he was there for her every step of her recovery)
Note: Reaction of someone on reddit to learning about his medals "He has ….TWO Distinguished Flying Crosses?? You pretty much only get those for doing something's that’s worth making into a movie scene and he has TWO!?"
Trump was a Meme Candidate in 2016 for being terrible, Kelly has Meme potential for being awesome
Kamala’s vp picks:
Well, one is an astronaut so he counts.

Find My Way
Pairing: Simon 'Ghost' Riley x Reader
Summary: Simon comes back after a long deployment, will you let him back in?
Word Count: 1,157
Warnings: Some swearing, potential grammar mistakes, Simon is dumb and handles things immaturely, possibly ooc? Let me know if there's anything I should put.
A/N: listened to Begin by Danny Padilla, had a breakdown, bon appetite
Read it on AO3
Anti AI divider other divder
Simon's hand was balled into a fist, hovering over your door. His heart thumped in his chest as he worked up the courage to knock. Maybe he should've called first...
"Here goes nothing." He mutters to himself.
He knocks. Each tap against the wood almost echoes in the hallway of your apartment building.
Moments pass, he hears nothing.
Should he knock again?
Or are you not answering?
Your neighbor still has a wreath hanging on their door, covered in a red ribbon and fake snow, a gleam from the glittery bow kept shining in his eyes. The shine reminding him that it's been a while since his last visit.
The last visit where he admitted he loved you, then he left for half a year.
Tensions were usually high when it was almost time for Simon to leave. He wasn't ignorant of your concern; it was in every glance, every touch, and every kiss.
He tried telling you that he'll be alright. But he knows it's not enough to quell your worries. His years of tactical training, and years of experience in highly intense combat with ruthless killers pale in comparison when you stare at him with those pleading eyes.
You've been seeing each other for a little over a year, and you didn't mind how cautious Simon was to let you in. In fact, you were relieved about it. You had trouble letting your guard down just like he did, perhaps that's what kept him around.
It just didn't stop you from caring about him.
This would be the second time he's been called back to work. Though the first time he left, he was only gone for 2 months.
This time he's not sure when he'll be back, or if he'll be back.
So he distances himself from you. He went from spending every spare moment at your apartment, to going home alone because he needs to pack, to barely answering the texts you send him. It would make him leaving you easier, right?
Surprise, it doesn't.
He's due to leave in a few hours, he's fully packed and expected to be on the base before dawn. But he can only think of you, you didn't call him when you got off work yesterday, he's mad at himself for being disappointed.
He tells himself that he doesn't really need you, he doesn't need anyone. He can't get attached to people because of his job, it's too dangerous.
So why does his heart ache when he thinks of you?
At that moment, his phone buzzes and lights up, taking him out of his thoughts. It's a text from you.
Is there any way I can see you before you leave?
He stares at the notification, he wants to. He really wants to see you. He unlocks his phone to respond but stops when he sees his background. It's a photo of you when you fell asleep on his couch. It was a couple months into your relationship and the first time you spent the weekend at his place.
He came back with dinner and saw you asleep bundled up with his blankets, you looked so peaceful in his home. Fitting into the corner of his couch like you always belonged there, next thing he knew he had his phone out to take the picture. He didn't want to admit it then, but that was the moment he fell in love with you.
Fuck, he loves you. He loves you and he's been an idiot.
He opens the text and responds, I'm on my way.
He puts his bags in his car and drives to your apartment. He has to see you, just one more time before he's thrown in the rage of war.
On the way there, he's caught by every red light, driving behind the slowest drivers. Fucking hell, he thinks. By the time he parks at your building, its thirty minutes later and he's agitated with the less amount of time he has with you, he just wants to go inside.
Simon unlocks your door with the key you gave him. You shot up from the couch when you heard the door, smoothing your shirt down in a vain attempt to look more presentable.
Simon meets your eyes and pauses, "Sorry it took me so long."
"It's okay," You slowly walk up to him, caution in every step, "You're here now."
"That's not what I mean."
You're inches in front him now, looking up at him with furrowed eyebrows and a slight tilt to your head. "What do you mean?"
In a quick motion, Simon shuts the door and places his hands on your cheeks; his fingers pressing lightly on the base of your neck.
"I'm sorry it took me so long to tell you that I love you."
He rubs his thumb over your cheekbone, leaning in to press his lips against yours. It's soft, patient. You're always so patient with him, you deserve the same treatment.
"Simon—" You place your hands on his forearms, "Where is this coming from? You love me?"
He rests his forehead against yours, "I do, is that alright?"
You let out a giggle, "Of course."
You only have a few hours with him, and you know it's going to break your heart to watch him leave. But you just can't help yourself.
"Of course, it's alright, because I love you too."
Simon gives you the biggest smile you've ever seen from him, and he's going to spend the next few hours showing you just how much he loves you.
Simon bows his head and sighs, it's been five minutes and you haven't answered.
He begins walking down the hallway with his eyes cast down. He presses the button to call the elevator.
It takes a few moments, but the doors open and he hears a gasp. He looks up and his eyes widen when sees you standing there with bags of groceries in your arms.
You hurriedly step off the elevator, "You're back."
Hearing your voice again releases the tension he's felt in his chest for the last seven months, you place the groceries on the ground and wrap your arms around his shoulders. The scent of your perfume fills his nose and he almost breaks down then and there. He missed that smell, he missed you.
He holds you tight against him, fearing that if he let you go you would fade away.
"You should've called." You whisper in his ear, and he chuckles.
"I know." He kisses your temple, "I know, I'm sorry it took me so long."
You unwrap yourself from him, "Come on home, Simon." Your voice is as soft as ever, and you're beaming at him. "I was just about to make dinner."
He picks up the groceries and lets you lead the way. When he finally enters your apartment, he's never been so sure he's exactly where he's supposed to be.
Find my way.
In the skyline tonight,
You're the better view.
Do you mind if I stay?
When the highlight of life
Might begin with you.
