it's -25C right now (negative) so i booked the new dog pool for rory (positive) but it turns out it shares a space with a yucky dog daycare so it was horribly loud and smelled awful (negative) and the pool had just been cleaned (positive) so the water was frigid (negative) but rory swam somewhat enthusiastically (positive) and burned some energy (positive) even though some of that was through straight up stress from the environment (negative) but she delighted everyone there (positive) including me with her model citizen behaviour (positive) and i bought her some really fun snacks from the bougie pet store next door (positive) so i think we net positived out about it.

#dogblr #about aurora #ive been having a bit of a day so my mixed emotions about it made me cry on the way home #but writing it out its not that bad #i hate putting rory in shitty situations (cold water stinky loud environment) esp right now because shes sooooo sensitive in her adolescence #(made infinitely worse by lack of proper exercise - winter)#but she pulled through so fucking well today #it was such a cool glimpse of her maturity peeking through #shes currently demolishing a beef rib (she corn cobs the meat off and doesnt really eat the bone) and seems quite relaxed #so i dont think this will have lasting effects #i wont go back to that pool until they change the setup #there are nicer dog pools in the city #i wish we didnt have so much bluegreen algae because i would love to take her swimming outdoors #i will try to get out with her earlier in the year because i fully missed the safe swimming window last year #i think she may grow up to enjoy swimming #reblogs are off because this isnt a post i need shared

sneepy cozy time....

#cats #longing to one day hopefully feel sleepy cozy like this again...#There was a pretty cool week here so I thought we had progressed closer to cool fall weather but... NO #..wrong!! It's like 80F in my room right now and was 98F outside yesterday. We get two more 'cooler' days and then #it starts going up again and will be in the high 90s possibly 100 something later this week #in my mind september should be COOOOOLLLL!!!!! or at least STARTING to get there.. Like mid 80s at the highest.#I am going to explode the world with evil wizard powers aaRGHaaHHHHHHHH #OR at least it should get down really low at night. I think thats the main thing is if it's 95 in the day and only 62 for like 3 hours in #the middle of the night then even leaving a fan in windows all night is not enough to fully cool down the house because its just not #enough cold air or cool for long enough. If it were 98 in the day but 15F outside at night then you could probably bring cool air inside al #night and your house would be at a relatively low starting point for the next days heat.#Like for example - in my apartment on a hot and sunny day. Even with every window #closed and blocked off with thick layers of reflective stuff and also not using the stove or doing anything to generate heat - the apartmen #will still go up on average about 6 - 8 degrees in one day. Peaking around 8 - 10pm night time. If I start off with the house cooled down #to 60F. then the highest it would get is 66 - 68 which is tolerable #.But if the lowest I can cool the apartment all night is still only 75F #then it's going to be 81 - 83F by the end of the day. So really it would be bearable (ISH)#for it to be warm as long as it was colder at night.#Though still the IDEAL is to not have to structure my life around envrionmental management and constantly be checking the #outdoor temperature so I can put the fans in the second that it's colder outside than it is inside and putting elaborate curtain systems #up and down at the exact right times and meal prepping 4 days in advance so I dont have to use the stove for 3 days and blah blah blah #Life in the colder weather months is so effortless and breezy in that sense. I can just have the window open all day and get natural light.#I can cook whatever I want. I can wear what I like. I can move around the house freely without needing to always #carry a fan around with me or douse myself in water.#ANYWAY.... oh if only that were me.... snuggled in a warm blanket ... a comforting wintery image...

What would each Marauder characters smell like in Amortentia:

James: Broom polish, cinnamon, fresh spring air, oranges (like a tangeriney smell) .

Sirius: Hairspray, Ash (the smell of a campfire), vanilla lip balm, basil.

Remus: Black coffee, a brand new book, caramel, whiskey.

Peter: Sunscreen, watermelon (but the artificial smell), mint (fresh, like you’re smelling the herb directly), fresh laundry.

Lily: The sea, strawberries (fresh not artificial), lavender, dewy grass.

Marlene: Broom Polish, cigarettes, rain, apples.

Dorcas: Coconut, Acrylic Paint, Cold Air (it has a fresh scent imo), Cherry Coke.

Mary: The Earl Grey Tea She Drinks, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Sweet Cream, Her Vanilla Purfume.

Regulus: Cold Water, Pine, Musk (it’s in his cologne), Expensive Ink.

Pandora: Seaweed, Limes, Rosemary, Soil.

Barty: Oil (don’t ask why), Cedar, Rain Water, Copper.

Evan: Sandalwood, Coffee (with milk), Coconut Conditioner, Grapefruit.

#cinnamon is a very common spice for Indian cooking and used in garam masala and chai tea so it would make perfect sense for James yk #some of these makes a lot of sense to me #like Dorcas and cold air #yk on cold days but it’s sunny and clear there’s a cool smell it’s fresh #that that’s the scent #I wanted to make Remus smell like chocolate but caramel is a warm smell which I like #Peter is 100% dead on to me #Sirius smelling like hairspray is so funny to me #Pandora smells like the outdoors #like she spends all day outside #Barty and copper? not sure where that one came from but it fits #yes I was kind of running out of ideas by Evan but yk it will do #also it is rude of me to make Regulus smell like water and it’s also funny #james potter #regulus black #jegulus #sunseeker #sirius black #dorcas meadowes #marlene mckinnon #lily evans #mary macdonald #remus lupin #peter pettigrew #barty crouch jr #pandora lovegood #evan rosier #maurder era #jsp headcannon #jsp- marauder era

i reblogged that red sun on yellow paper print and was so struck by doing my march print on yellow that i tooled around online looking at prices before realizing how silly i was & instead got dressed and left the house and went to my JOB where there’s FREE paper & took a whole stack of colored card stock & some very beautiful mulberry paper from some lady’s impeccably organized scrapbooking binder donation & then went and got some donuts and coffee from the local donut place and then ALSO went to the corner plant nursery and got a new little boxwood to put on the front steps. successful morning 🌞

#i killed the last boxwood over the winter bc i was afraid to water it & have it freeze #i guess i should have trimmed it before it got really cold… living & learning. i don’t know shit about outdoor plants #but also like… if i spent $20 on a plant for the front steps and then it dies it’s not the end of the world to spend another $20 on another #they can be seasonal. even if they’re not really supposed to be. sorry last fall’s boxwood #but that’s why i’m on the spring boxwood train now #i was really happy i stumbled on exactly what i was looking for at my job i wasn’t sure i would find what i wanted #it’s not my dream paper weight but it’ll do just fine 😌

Say hello to this white fabric I left sitting in purple dye for an hour that absolutely did not change color at all

#the only thing i can think that i did wrong was that like.i just had to use the hottest possible water from the bathtub faucest #to leave it sitting instead of boiling water on the stove or whatever #BUT ive used the same brand of dye before in like literally cold outdoor water from a hose pipe and it worked lmao
