Closing the chapter

Today i'm facing the things i turned away from.

Slowly i am bidding goodbye to the feelings, the good mornings, the jokes, the songs we dedicated, the silly pictures and moments we shared.

The pain will stop, not in the near future, but there will be new people, the gap will one day close, our 'almost' one day will not haunt me.

I'm letting you go today and it hurts but i know someday it won't hurt at all.

Can't believe it's already been a month since Houseki no Kuni ended... It's been a ride leading up to the finale but I finished the series with tears welling up in my eyes, and a sense of peace. 😭

The ending was hopeful and meaningful— an unexpectedly lovely conclusion for Phos! 🤧 I love the visual metaphor of Phos and the gems being reborn into "The Pure Land", or known as, The Land of the Lustrous, a purified paradise free of materialism and earthly temptations. These delicate gem flowers holding tiny, unique universes, will be eternally brightened by Phos' radiant existence. With the possibility of other universes, I hope that Phos and the others will meet again and lead more fulfilling lives together!! 🛌💭

The way my jaw dropped realizing Ichikawa ended the last chapter on number 108, the Buddhist symbol of overcoming worldly desires and embracing new beginnings to attain nirvana. SO good...😦 The parallel between big brother and Phos, both on self-destructive, morally ambiguous paths for their loved ones/ideals, was a compelling twist. I love them both... 😢 As Aechmea and Adamant hoped, big brother passed on knowing he helped Phos find happiness. 😭 Wailing...

This series has profoundly impacted me more than I imagined, shaping my perspectives on my own values and the world. Despite it coming to an end, we will always stay connected across time and space, just like Phos!!! 🥺🤍

Thank you, Haruko Ichikawa, for creating such a memorable piece of work, and to everyone who has liked my hnk art and commentaries throughout the years! I'll continue loving and drawing the series for as long as I can. 🙇

can I just say the entire front half of episode 7 chapter 8, because everything about it was BONKERS in the most absolutely delightful way. genuinely this might have been the funniest single update yet. we got Idia's directorial debut! big stronk Epel! and. just. gestures to the entirety of SavanaRook. (then Vil went into a spiral of murdering people that culminated in punching the manifestation of his own insecurity in the face, and that was good in an entirely different kind of way, but I digress)

if I have to pick one though, I'm gonna go with Idia's video, because 1) adorable, 2) seriously just look at it, and 3) I did legit have to replay that subchapter on account of laughing over most of it the first time. truly Idia is the artistic genius of our generation.

DashingDon

As most of you are probably aware, DashingDon will be closing at the end of this month. Although the news didn't surprise me (there was writing on the wall), I was still shaken by its finality.

I've been in this IF niche for a long time. I remember when authors used to share via Dropbox and the panic that spread when they changed their security settings — DashingDon swept in and saved the day. The site has connected authors and readers for a decade and was the central pillar necessary for the IF explosion.

I don't know if I ever would have tried my hand at the Rose if DashingDon didn't exist. It feels like the end of an era. I want to thank Don for everything he's done. For all the time, work, and capital he's sacrificed for the website. He connected, hosted, and helped so many people; I am so lucky to count myself among them.

I haven't used cogdemos.ink yet, but I know that the person managing it is very active and doing their best to make the site as user-friendly, safe, and intuitive as they can. I have complete faith it'll be — and may very well already be — a worthy successor to DashingDon. ♡

Thank you to all who warned me of its closing! My files are safe in 3 different places, so no worries, I won't lose anything, but it's still heartwarming that you cared.🌹
