ā€” A Black Hymn on the LA Fires Unseen ā€”
Lord,
the fire spoke our names in tongues,
each flame a prophet of what weā€™d lose.
I saw the block baptized in red heat,
the trees shedding ash like tired ancestors.
what is it about this city
that makes the ground so hungry for itself?
Lord, it hurtsā€”
the ache of walls turning to whispers,
of roofs folding like broken wings.
the air is heavy with what we couldnā€™t save:
baby photos, love letters,
the laughter of kids chasing sunsets
now running from smoke.
but Lord,
You built us thick with survival,
spines strong enough to carry yesterdayā€™s rubble
and still reach for tomorrow.
we sing through this pain
the way weā€™ve always done:
turning ashes into a song
so loud it drowns out despair.
You said let there be light,
so we carry it in our hands,
our hearts, our hips.
we are the children of burnt soil,
of hope rooted in cracked concrete,
of prayers stitched into the seams of our breath.
this city may burn,
but we donā€™t break.
we stack bricks with grief,
mix mortar with memory,
build altars from whatā€™s left
and call it home.
Lord, it hurtsā€”
but You are here in the smoke,
in the hands that hold mine,
in the hymns rising from our tired mouths.
we will rebuild, Lord.
watch us turn this fire into light.

America should be about organizing powers of intelligence, (the best side of US rising up to the challenge and solving very complex problems) not about organizing powers of ignorance; empowering the worst within US that denies problems, denies science, and wants US to reject the evidence we see with our own eyes!
Wake up humanity!

Who Will Be the Adult in the Room?
Tumblr media
In times of crisis, whether global or personal, thereā€™s often one lingering question: Who will step up and be the adult in the room? This simple yet profound idea speaks to responsibility, maturity, and the courage to lead when it's most needed.
Weā€™ve seen this concept play out in countless scenarios. When the world faced the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals and organizations had to rise above fear and uncertainty to make tough decisions. In the battle against climate change, we need leaders willing to prioritize long-term sustainability over short-term profits. And when it comes to financial systems that seem to teeter on the edge of collapse, visionaries like Satoshi Nakamoto challenged the status quo, offering a transparent and decentralized alternative.
Being the ā€œadult in the roomā€ isnā€™t about ageā€”itā€™s about mindset. Itā€™s about seeing the bigger picture, taking responsibility, and acting with integrity, even when the solutions arenā€™t easy or popular. It means being the voice of reason, the anchor in chaos, and the one willing to stand for whatā€™s right when others might not.
Why This Matters Now
Weā€™re living in a time when humanity faces an array of challenges that demand maturity and foresight. Climate change threatens the very foundation of our ecosystems. Financial systems grow more fragile as trust erodes. Technological advancements race ahead, often without ethical boundaries in place.
In each of these areas, thereā€™s a need for someoneā€”or a collective of peopleā€”to step forward and make decisions that prioritize the well-being of others, not just themselves.
But hereā€™s the catch: itā€™s not just about waiting for someone else to take the reins. Itā€™s about asking ourselvesā€”am I willing to be the adult in the room?
The Test of Responsibility
Think of it as a litmus test. On any pressing issue, from global problems like climate change to local challenges in your community, ask yourself: Who will be the adult in the room?
Who will choose sustainable practices, even if theyā€™re inconvenient?
Who will stand up for whatā€™s right, even when itā€™s unpopular?
Who will prioritize future generations over immediate gratification?
The answer should always be: I will.
A Challenge to Readers
This isnā€™t just about big, world-changing actions. Sometimes, being the adult in the room is as simple as stepping up in your own lifeā€”choosing kindness over anger, discipline over distraction, and responsibility over apathy.
The world doesnā€™t need more bystanders or critics. It needs people willing to act, even when the path forward is uncertain. People who will lead, not follow. People who will stand up and say, ā€œI will be the adult in the room.ā€
So, the question I leave you with is this: Will you?

Time will not save us
EV's will not save us
Plant based diets will not save us
Guns will not save us
Technology will not save us
Fossil fuels irreparably wrecked our climate
Methane puts heat into overdrive
No future will remotely resemble now
Civilized society disappears
No emergency services
No medical services
No law enforcement
Millions flee cities
Only to find
Inescapable Violence
Starvation
Death
I keep working and maintain my routine to survive for now.
"No Future!" shouted the Punks of the late 70's and early 80's
We foolishly thought they were wrong.

I support the new clean auto rules! And I oppose defunding climate policies!
316 so far! Help us get to 500 signers!
I am thrilled that the U.S. finalized strong climate change rule for cars yesterday. These rules will force automakers to ramp upĀ electric vehicle salesĀ and slash emissions from gas-powered models. The rule also would reduce fine particulate matter ā€” theĀ most risky form of pollutionĀ to our health. OnlyĀ seven countriesĀ met global guidelines for it last year. The fact that the U.S. is leading the world on climate action is great news!
I know that fossil fuel companiesĀ are likely to challenge this rule. I want you to stand with the Biden administration and fight back. We are in a climate emergency and we are losing. We need to do much, much more to avoid the worst consequences of a warming planet. This strong rule is a needed next step. I expect Congress to back it and do even more.
As for the Republicansā€™ trying to defund President Bidenā€™s green tax credits? Absolutely unacceptable. I consider it an outrage that GOP lawmakers are putting oil and gas companiesā€™ profits above our childrenā€™s futures. They need to stop right now. Thanks.
