Hey y'all! In August I started two jobs and I've been so busy I haven't been bored enough to daydream about fic let alone write it. One of the jobs is a long term substitute position. I do not have a teaching degree. I do not know what I am doing. It is very stressful. These kids are just staring at me every morning and I have to be the one to like...have things for them to do. And so I just "yes and" riff about some worksheets best I can and hope they pass their state tests come April. Like, I'm really just some guy off the street they hired last minute. It's so bad.

However, I have a lil something I wrote before all that sooooooooo...

Simon POV, past (age 15):

Balanced footsteps approach, clicking in even purposeful tones that threaten Baz, Baz, Baz. His shadow appears first. Long and lean. Dark and brooding. Mocking me as it flickers against the walls because even the mere imitation of Baz swarms with condescension. A few steps above me, always looking down.

The band, choir, and art teachers at my school all like The Beatles!

The band director has a sign that says ABBEY ROAD on her office wall, and she also has a Beatles LEGO set! I also gave her a John Lennon Funko pop as a belated birthday gift. I *may* have also tried to get her into Tally Hall when I sent her some funny music-related videos (I sent her the Honk War clip accompanied by some blurb about the band), but that's unrelated.

Musical rehearsals used to take place in the choir room, and the choir teacher has four Beatles posters and a figurine of Yellow Submarine Paul! He has a group photo of them by his desk, and individual posters of Paul, Ringo, and John.

My friend takes art class, and she says that the art teacher has a poster of John and Cynthia! (at least I think Cynthia? never seen it in person.) Apparently, she also did one of those "find someone in the room who x" games, and one of the prompts was "find someone in the room who can name all four Beatles."

Now I want to see if the orchestra director likes the bugs lol. Will update!

This is an al-Khwarizmi appreciation zone!! This blog loves Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi! The guy whose name became the root of 'algorithm' and whose book on mathematical concepts became the root of 'algebra'! The father of algebra itself! One of the key players in bringing 'Arabic numerals' to Europe, eventually becoming the global number system! Inspiration to mathematicians for generations after his life! Devout Persian Muslim al-Khwarizmi!

I think people would benefit from saying "hey, I'm very worked up/emotional/feeling very strongly about something, can we have this conversation another time when i'm more level headed?" during complicated discussions.
