TFP Shockwave X Reader - The Scientist
I guess this is what happens when you put 10GB of music on shuffle. Oh well...
I’m warning you, Shockwave is OOC af, but I tried. Plus, this is ANGST! (Well, I tried to be angst, you tell me if it worked!)
Lyrics from Coldplay’s The Scientist (you may play it while listening, I recommend...)
Enjoy!
Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are
You optics leaked freely as you tried to contain a cry of pain and agony. No, the gaping hole next to your spark chamber and the wires that once led to your leg weren’t the source of such pain.
It was your spark.
I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart
You didn’t know if you were angry or sorry. There were too many emotions. All you wanted was Shockwave to hug you and take the pain away.
But you knew that would never happen again.
Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh, let's go back to the start
Oh, how you remembered the time you met, before the war, before the Decepticons and the Autobots. You had started working as his assistant and had soon got used to his antics. Although his lack of morale values surprised you at first, it’s not like you could call yourself an angel either, which led to a certain degree of understanding between the two.
Running in circles
Coming up tails
Heads on a science apart
But you found that, behind that “logical” way of his and his lack of morale, he did have feelings. You found out when he downright asked you to leave your job and come with him to Kaon. You didn’t reciprocate at the time and refused.
But later you realized your mistake.
Soon you arrived in Kaon and worked beside him again, this time in the pits, healing wounded gladiators.
Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
By the time the war broke out, you were together. The day that Megatron rebelled was the day you admitted your new-found feelings towards Shockwave.
You had thought he would have told you that he didn’t like you that way anymore.
Instead, he hugged you tightly, cutting you from the noises of the rebellion, and told you that he couldn’t get rid of the feeling, no matter how hard he tried.
You had joked, asking if he wanted to just sparkbond right then. His response?
“A war has just started, but once it’s over, we’ll do it.”
Oh, take me back to the start
Through the eons and the war, your relationship prevailed, stronger than you would ever thought it would be.
Sure, Shockwave wasn’t the most affectionate mech, but that only meant that the little affection he showed was even more precious.
He didn’t need to hug you or tell you that he loved you (even if he did, rarely, but he did), his small actions spoke better than millions of words. Like that time he locked you in a supply closet when his lab was raided by Autobots. You were pissed at him then, but when you saw his wounds after the raid, when he came to you, your optics leaked.
As you helped him heal, you asked him if he had locked you away so he didn’t have to protect you in battle and he just shyly looked away from you as his cooling fans kicked in.
You then made him his canon when he lost his arm, as thanks.
I was just guessing
At numbers and figures
Pulling the puzzles apart
But when you were both stuck in Cybertron, thing got sour after a while. Maybe it was the feeling of safety, or the scientist’s obsession with the Predacons, but he seemed to grow distant after a while.
You thought that maybe he didn’t love you anymore, but whenever you voiced such thoughts, his answer would be always the same:
“If I didn’t love you, I wouldn’t want to sparkbond after the war.”
It didn’t fail to make your fans run as fast as the light, or to make you hope for such day. After that he would pay attention to you again, only to grow distant once more.
This vicious cycle lasted until you went to Earth.
Questions of science
Science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart
Once on Earth, you were separated. You stayed in the Nemesis and acted as a weapons specialist (like you were), while Shockwave remained in his offsite lab, indulged in Project Predacon.
You grew further apart than ever before, not even talking, unless it was work-related. No more of his loving side. It seemed to you he loved Predaking more than he loved you!
So when Shockwave’s lab was destroyed and he moved into the Nemesis, you confronted him for good, telling him you were tired of being treated that way and asking him what kind of relationship there was between you.
“If you don’t like the relationship between us, you can always leave.”
You didn’t know if he truly meant those words or not, but you didn’t care. In a fit of rage like no one had ever seen from you, you had yelled at him everything you had bottled up during the time you were alone in Cybertron, and stomped out of his lab, almost killing an annoying Vehicon on the way out.
Tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh, and I rush to the start
After that you didn’t speak to each other until the Omega Lock was finished and the Autobots invaded the Nemesis.
As if it was a dejá vu, Shockwave told you to hide somewhere and avoid battle if possible. It was the first time he showed worry towards you in ages, which enraged you. You were stupid.
Angered that he only cared when convenient, you ran to your weapon’s control room and activated the prototype weapons you had installed within the ship. From there you controlled them and made sure to protect the Omega Lock and the Decepticons, but in your blind rage, you forgot to protect something very important.
Your back.
Running in circles
Chasing our tails
Coming back as we are
When you realized the Autobots had come for you, it was too late. They were already inside the room before you had time to pull out your gun.
Now Megatron was dead. From the corner of the room, where you were slowly bleeding out energon, you saw the leader die through the screen. It was through those same screens that you saw Decepticons running towards the escape pods.
It was through those screens you saw Shockwave dragging Starscream away from the escape pods, towards the room you were in.
Nobody said it was easy
Oh, it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard
“Y/n!” He called when he saw the destruction within the room. Your response was a cough of energon, which was enough to drag his attention.
He kneeled beside you and tried to take you in his arms.
“We have to take you out of here.” He said.
“Take her with us?! She’ll die even before we get off the ship! Plus, why do you care?!” Starscream screeched. Before Shockwave could reply, you spoke.
“He’s right, Shockwave, and you know it. It’s only logical you leave me and run away yourself.”
He glared at you for using his own logic against him and you could feel him battling with himself.
Next thing you know, both scientists are running down the halls towards the escape pods, with you in Shockwave’s arms.
I'm going back to the start
“Shock…” You protested as you felt your energy diminishing.
“I promised I would do it.” He told you in his typical matter-of-fact voice.
Before you could even process what he meant, his chest plates moved and his spark chamber opened, showing you the most beautiful side of him you had never seen.
His spark.
Oh…
You wanted to protest again, tell him to leave you, but you had wanted it for so long you couldn’t help it.
Never once did the scientist slow down when your chest plates moved painfully and your spark was revealed.
Never once did he slow down when the two sparks joined as one and any thought and feeling you had through your lifes was revealed to the other.
Oh…
Never once did he slow down when the two sparks split once more and his thoughts of “I loved you” reached you through thought, or when you re-send such words through your connection.
He only stopped when the three of you were crammed within the last escape pod.
Oh…
“Just hold on…” He spoke.
But your optics were already offline, and your last thought was already being transmitted to him.
‘I’m sorry…”
He tried to repeat the words to you, but it was too late. The connection was gone.
You were gone.
And the only thing he could do was regret that he didn’t show you enough of his love.
Oh…
