to celebrate 8 years since civil war release, let’s review all the ways tony stark was an absolute loser and actually the reason thanos won in infinity war:
created an omnicidal A.I. that the rest of the team warned him against creating
decided that the entire team needed to become government puppets because he felt guilty for creating said A.I. that, once again, NO ONE SUPPORTED HIM IN MAKING
(also the reason bucky was forced back into the fight bc tony caused sokovia and thus caused zemo’s need for revenge but i digress on that pt)
when members of the team who can’t disconnect from their abilities raised concerns about how the accords dehumanized them, he had them arrested or locked them in his tower
bribed (yes, bribed) a child into fighting on his side because he knew he was outmatched
instructed vision to shoot sam out of the sky and then shot sam point-blank when he avoided the blast that would’ve left him severely injured AND LANDED TO HELP THE PERSON IT HIT
wanda on the raft. this is its own point. he let her be restrained and collared like a fucking DOG as if he hadn’t already done enough damage in her life (killing her parents & brother)
Tumblr media
proceeded to break the accords THAT HE HELPED WRITE to chase cap across the globe because he felt left out of the action
blamed a brainwashed pow for BEING FORCED to kill the starks AGAINST HIS WILL and proceeded to BLOW HIS ARM OFF and ATTEMPT TO KILL HIM DESPITE KNOWING THAT NONE OF IT WAS HIS CHOICE
mocked natasha’s trauma because she dared to disagree with his methods (he is, in fact, incapable of letting go of his ego for one goddamn second)
even after receiving an apology, refused to contact cap for three years despite KNOWING about the threat of thanos
in conclusion,

According to Donald Trump there were 'no wars' when he left office in 2020 and now the whole world is blowing up.
As if him being President bought peace to the entirety of Earth between 2016 and 2020.
Yet this is blatantly untrue and can be disproven easily.
I mean for starters, in the context of the Russia/Ukraine war, this wasn't a conflict that just started in 2022. This has been a 10 year war, ongoing since 2014 over land, and just escalated when Russia launched a full scale invasion in 2022.
Similarly with Syria. The rebel uprising has been ongoing since 2011 and has only just ended due to the fleeing of Bashir Al-Asaad.
In Yemen, there has been an ongoing Civil war since 2014, a war that America did support, albeit with relatively small number of troops.
Afghanistan were still in conflict with the Taliban until the West withdrew their troops and essentially left the country for the Taliban to reclaim in 2021.
And of course, we have the little known Nagorno-Karabakh conflict which has been waged between Armenia and Azerbaijan since 1988 over the region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
There are also a number of other wars waged across Africa and the Middle East during his whole Presidency.
So his claim about 'no wars' in 2020 is a complete fallacy.
That being said the world is becoming an increasingly dangerous place. But it's not because Donald Trump wasn't President. War is unfortunately just a reality of the human race. It's existed since our early ancestors and in ever political system. The reality is it's unlikely to ever cease.
The best way to sum up the human race is that famous line from the Fallout games....

One of the most I guess... incongruous themes in fallout 4 is that they really can't pick a wartime allegory and stick to it. There's a ton of revolutionary war parallels which I guess makes sense in the context of the game, if the Institute is supposed to be playing the role of the British but that's irrelevant and not my point. It should be a point, because you'd think they'd write something semi-cohesive, but if the Institute was supposed to be the british is really just. Doesn't come through for me at all. The Institute isn't an oppressive government regime and the British weren't scary boogeymen. Your parallels arent paralleling.
There's also a ton of references to the civil war and slavery (which they probably shouldve just stuck with instead of the revolutionary war gag but again, whatever), with the backdrop of racism and mccarthyism and media blacklisting, and as I'm typing this out I'm realizing that the story in fallout 4 is there, but all these elements combined to do absolutely fucking nothing.

I think marking the fall of Shady Sands as 2277 is actually kind of compelling.
My current non-cynical theory is that the historians of Vault 4 decided that the First Battle of Hoover Dam marked the beginning of the downfall of the NCR and Shady Sands. They won that battle! But at what cost, exactly?
The NCR's position in New Vegas was already tenuous at best before the battle. What they thought would be an easy annex turned out to be very complicated. They fought the Brotherhood of Steel for Helios 1 but fucked up and couldn't even access the resource. The awakening of the Hopeville and Ashton silos destroyed one of the few supply lines into and out of New Vegas. They shunned a potential ally in the Followers of the Apocalypse upon receiving criticism.
Their attempted annexation of the region was failing by 2281, which only weakens their position back home, not strengthens it. Kimball and his government's lack of restrictions and continued foray into New Vegas and the surrounding areas to search for and supply power to people back home almost certainly contributed to its downfall. Which leads me to believe that the canon of the show, although not yet confirmed in any capacity, is that the NCR loses the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam.
It would be unlikely that Kimball stays in power if they lost control of the Dam. The NCR would be forced to withdraw, losing all of the power in the region that they were sending back home to Shady Sands. The value of its dollar, already only at 40% of a cap, would certainly plummet. With a loss of a main source of power (both actual electricity and dominance through being beaten by house/the legion/yes man), Shady Sands is almost certainly on the decline by the time it gets nuked.

Also: project 2025 and Trump (in his own way) is explicitly banking on this kind of rhetoric. They want to install a tyrant (using the classical definition of the word) and they are coaching it in "hey if we get in you won't have to vote again". This is not just business as usual for modern politics. They have explicitly stated that they want completely upend the system and make it such that any dissent is fully illegal. It's in their manifesto that anyone that has had any sensitivity training at any level of the government would be blacklisted from ever being in government again. Which would hit their own team a bunch, but that's the lengths they're willing to go to. If it means destroying careers in order to have broad enough powers to make it such that the left literally cannot engage in governance, they will do it.
That the screenshotted tweet has Marxist in their handle makes me think this is either a full-on psyop, or just someone making a sockpuppet strawman. Marxism is kind of built on the idea of constant re-evaluation and analysis, and so the idea of a marxist being "I want one simple solution that I never have to think about ever" would be hilarious if things weren't so fucking dire.
