    In related news to my return... Once I get their pictures done, alt has been made for Rhela’s Azem: Circe! [Any pronouns]

    Proficient in magic to an awe-inspiring degree, he was somehow still better known for his chipper demeanor and wandering habits. Scheduling anything to his whims was practically a death knell; whether or not he’d show up on time... You’d have a better chance at predicting next moon’s new fad for creations.

    And yet, it was that down-to-earth, endless need to wander which led her to meet Venat at all; the two quick friends and kindred spirits. Hades and Hythlodaeus took to her in a similar fashion; Hades insisting how tired he was, to be chasing after her all the time... Yet smiling in secret. Hythlodaeus, of course, was more than happy to encourage it all.

    In that light, being nominated to the Seat of Azem only made sense, truly. The friendly spirit who brought a little life to all whom they interacted with... Who sought little adventures that would never end, cherished all life, lived with a passion unmatched...

    Well. All stories end eventually. (But those that follow tend to spin just as wonderful as the original, no?)

First of all, thank you sm for posting this!! I love the question and... I'm dumping all my OCs on here, as well as my main WoL, so...

To anyone who reads this, I hope you enjoy??

Conjury was an easy enough start. During the days before and up to the Calamity, Rhela actually started their days as an assistant to chirurgeons! After a...mysterious five-year break, they returned to Gridania to work on their budding magical abilities.

This would be the way of things for a long time; dabbling a little in other classes, but hardly being very devoted to them. Rhela's preference was to support with healing, and being a White Mage was incredibly suited to their talents and abilities...or so they preferred to believe. (It was comfortable. Why change?)

...Funny enough, meeting Zenos is what changed that rigid way of thinking. Eventually moving deeper into Dark Knight. Learning the ways of the Rogues. Utilizing the skills of Archery, the physical might of Dragoons (recently inducted, even!) and even- as of very recently- trying their hand at being a Machinist.

That being said, however... The only classes that combat their comfort in the backseat of healing is gathering. Botany and mining quickly became a loved "activity," of sorts, for Rhela. The only one they struggle with is fishing... Though working alongside the Ixal have gently encouraged that along.

As for crafting, she also delves more into that by the day! Honing skills all around... Mostly to see what feels best, but also genuinely proud of what typically ends up leaving her hands, whether fresh from the cooking pan or carefully fitted as a leatherworker.

>Ajisai

Her magical abilities seemed to have come with the whitening of her hair. Originally, it frightened her...but after escaping from the pressure of her parents, instead seeking to regain some control over her life... It became an instrument for the better, under the tutelage of the Arcanists' Guild.

She's most comfortable as a Summoner, but has also- occasionally- taken up Scholar and Astrologian. They all channel her innate, and growing, magical abilities well. And it's always nice to walk around somewhere with a friend. (In terms of SMN & SCH, at least!)

As of recently, she's been trying Samurai- a class from her homeland- and Dancer, as well. The former as a continued effort to reclaim something she feels has been lost for a long time... Dancer has been more a way to destress, by comparison. However, the combat side quickly appealed to her, as well; now, it's decently common to see her wielding it or Summoner!

Crafting... She's primarily a Weaver; pushed onto her from family. It was seen as a "ladylike" thing to do and encouraged to the point of annoyance. Ajisai still picks up the needle now and then- it's good for taking her mind off of things- but she isn't thrilled with it. (Being a culinarian is much the same; seen as something a good bride should learn, and so she was forced into it. It's good food! She's proud! But it's also been an annoyance.)

These days, she's getting more into botany and mining, as well. Mostly in an attempt to be further self-sufficient.

"Unclassed" beforehand, I'karus would later pick gladiator as his path in life... At the time, it just seemed like it would've been a better move than living life how he had before. (In retrospect, a part of him wonders what on Hydaelyn he was thinking, back then!)

Now he's a Paladin, however, and proudly carries the mantle. To be a protector is a vast opposite compared to how he used to be; it brings him great pride.

(...Though a part of him picked up on being a rogue on the side. Not fully to serve the needs of Limsa...but unable to let go of the idea that his past may one day come to haunt him. Best to have an edge on that, in I'karus' opinion!)

>Kinara

Dancer! It best supported her way of life, and still does. As well... Some conjury on the side. Not super into dedicating her life to that kind of thing, but it helps look after friends in need.

(Crafts only slightly on the side; just enough to look after her own clothes!)

>Alexios

Bard! It fits his desire of being seen and putting on performances. At that point, the music is just a bonus... A lovely one that she puts her heart and soul into each night, when she practices.

They also are a rogue on the side, however... Not that anyone would know, or expect this of them. A jovial nature that easily hides the expert handling of their trademark blades...and you best believe what he can do with daggers just hints at what he can do with a bow and arrow.

>Valmir

Archer. Does a bit of barding on the side- mostly for self-amusement, as he's chronically awkward- but largely prefers the distance benefits that come with attacking from afar.

Is a botanist on the side, and tends to indulge when not doing other work for Gridania (or any other Twelveswood settlement). Gathering is their comfort zone, though is slowly taking up crafting to start being self-sufficient again.

>U'zahra

Back among the tribe, U'zahra used to be a pugilist and archer. An incident with the Amalj'aa (specifically those of Zahar'ak) destroyed said bow...but didn't stop her from trying to come back stronger.

Trained up to a Monk, and learned the secrets of Black Mages, as well. (Forbidden arts who?) Found comfort in Dancer, as well; the movements adjusted to her dances of the U Tribe, giving extra spice to the way she moves...and making this class and Monk her favorites. Conjury and being a Black Mage... The power is good; summoning energy, less so.

Also a fair crafting fiend, though perhaps best at cooking, weaving, and metalwork, like goldsmithing. Gathering is her second home, given how the U Tribe lives. (Perhaps second only to her hunting abilities!)

>Sinmara

A Dragoon, like her father and parent before her! (Though, one of many...) Being biologically a dragon to a Miqo/Elezen pair is an odd existence, but so is picking up the class that once slaughtered her kind...and was originally made during a time of friendship, between dragons and Ishgardians.

Sinmara considers it- much like the changed ways between her parents- as a "right the wrongs" kind of situation; preferring to think of it in a hopeful and good light.

...They're not sure what to do about crafting or gathering; for now, leaving it in the hands of their renny. Perhaps...one day, though? They may try botany and fishing.

(To explain the lore chaos: fanchild between my WoL, Rhela, and Estinien. Nidhogg is technically True Father to Sinmara, as his spirit influenced her development. Biologically, she is primarily a dragon, with Miqo'te [Keeper] and [Ishgardian] Elezen influences.)

All-Rounder is the simplest way to put Circe's situation!! One would typically see them as a [White Mage], but has also run through [Dark Knight], [Dancer], and [Dragoon].

...Has asked for [Black Mage] training from Hades. Has been regretting it. He regrets agreeing, mostly for watching them sulk over the simplest thing(s). (Hythlodaeus just enjoys the show.)

Does botany on the side! Menace of a crafter, though...can't do anything with them, aside from displays or selling them as art pieces. (Can't be too individualistic in Etheirys, after all!)

>Moriri

A Dragoon, and that's the end of it. Almost considered doing gladiator or pugilist things in her youth, but being introduced properly to what a Dragoon could do... She was quick to learn the lance, and quicker accepted to their ranks during the Dragonsong War.

She's basically retired now, but will drag her spear back out if need be.

Otherwise, crafting and gathering is her day job, and how time gets filled. You'll likely find her gathering somewhere, out and about, crafting within Ishgard...or relaxing in Ishgard. (At least, post-Dragonsong War. Due to the chaos, she's been living in the Twelveswood, at present.)

Warrior main, through and through. Proud of it, too...and won't admit he geared for it solely in a silent attempt to upstage that one kid from the Oronir. 👀

Really, Altan just likes the heavy-hitting jobs. Tanks are his zone, as well as classes like Dragoon and Monk.

...Isn't too fond of or great at most crafting or gathering things, but does love mining. It puts his strength to use.

>Rheza

Another all-rounder, but White Mage preferred type. Rheza- unlike the others- had to learn multiple classes to get the best of all of them... Though apparently these days, one doesn't need to do so. Eh, hasn't stopped them from freshening up old memories and doing their best to keep in tip-top shape.

...Crafting and gathering has been fun, though. Now that there's more free time to spare, Rheza fills the quieter moments with doing either of those. Definitely prefers carpentry and weaving, though. Along with botany... Honestly, Gridanian bias. The forest remains their home.

NEW DESIGN WHO DIS

Meet my Azem, Circe! about as headstrong, proud, and chaotic as you'd expect Azem to be, Circe's most defining trait is definitely her tattoos....for those that see them. She usually covers up with gloves and otherwise dresses "properly" while within Amaurot, but outside it's anything goes. Otherwise, it's definitely the outlandish accessories (earrings) she wears and changes up as she sees fit. At a certain point she gains yet another; possibly the most colorful flower hairpin anyone has ever seen. It's unknown who gave it to her, but it quickly becomes known as her favorite and she is rarely seen without it.

As for her tattoos.....I unfortunately haven't quite decided on their story, only that they were something she voluntarily gave herself....and possibly to hide something else.

(also wrt Eliza, that's just the AzemWoL dynamic in a nutshell LOL Circe actually legitimately doesn't mean any harm, it's just that uh.....her already tenuous concept of personal space just leaves the stratosphere when she gets super excited and Eliza's the COMPLETE opposite until she gets comfortable with someone)

Today’s gameplay progress:

I reached level 90 as a black mage at last!!!! Part of me still feels a bit bad that I didn’t make this the first class I reached the level cap as, considering that it was the class I started the game as, but.. doing it this way has meant I was using it for lots of the story, so that was nice at least. I also just barely got to level 89 as a reaper, so that should get to the cap very nicely as well soon!

Speaking of the story, I made it to the last level 88 main story quest today! I believe this means I have 15 quests left of Endwalker, but there are multiple trials and dungeons included in those quests, so.. I’m not 100% sure I will be able to get through them all by the end of tomorrow. I can certainly try, though!

I would have continued playing more story this evening after I got back, but I ended up creating a design for Tsutsuji’s ancient instead! Her name is Kirsion, a Greek word that I believe gave rise to the Latin Cirsium, which is a genus of thistle. And also reminds me a lot of Circe, the sorceress.

Here is a picture of what she looks like! Hopefully it gets her vibes across, hehe

Kirsion was the holder of the seat of Azem in my version of events, because she fits the personality traits given in the game - such as “being a headache to her colleagues” - rather perfectly, ahaha. She’s chaotic, endlessly energetic, and a whirlwind of activity and enthusiasm; she does whatever she likes whenever she likes, whether it’s modifying her robes or bouncing off towards a new adventure, and she’s not going to let other people’s opinions stop her from barrelling into action! If any original concept can be attributed to her, it’s her namesake purple flower that she modelled after the spikiness of her hair - which is, of course, nowadays known as a thistle!

That’s all that I really have for now, apart from one thing.. but i like the idea of it being a bit of a secret, so let’s go under the readmore to talk about it.

You may be thinking that Kirsion’s thistle theming is supposed to complement Tsutsuji’s azalea theming. Both of their names mean those respective flowers, so both of them are based on each respective flower, right?

Well, they’re actually both thistle-themed, in fact! This is because Tsutsuji’s real name is Azami, which is the Japanese word for thistles. My initial plan was to actually have her ancient also be called Azami, especially after finding out that Azem is pronounced with the same sort of “ah” sound at the beginning (as opposed to how I’d been reading it in my head, which was more like “ei-zem”, like the letter A). However, I thought the idea of naming her ancient after a common ancestor of azaleas and thistles might be fun, except I couldn’t really find much information on that, especially since there are a lot more flowers known as thistles than I had been aware of. This then led me to look into the etymology of the word “thistle” itself, and that is how I settled on Kirsion (which also better fits the overall Greek theming of much of the world unsundered).

    Hi! Stumbled on this post tonight; hope it’s alright if I hop on!

We’ve got an Azem here, but also Ancient OCs, too! (Some who have Azem AUs, as well.)

    Circe- The Azem, Unsundered to Rhela Dakwhil (as well as Rheza & Ardbert, by association). As their name may imply- before the Azem title was passed on- they were exceptional at creation magic. Quite a few concepts were of their own design, such as a fair deal of feline types (coeurls, most notably), the Miqo’te (my self indulgence, here), and...well, an inspiration for what would become Viera and Venat’s Loporitts. (They were very fond of the idea of nonhuman ears.)

    Venat was their first friend, due to Circe’s deep-seated need to wander. The two related to that, and spent many hours chatting about the sights they’ve seen and adventures they wished to go on. Through her... They met Hythlodaeus and Hades.

    Hyth and Hades eventually became a triad with Circe. There was an awkward, but warm friendship with Hermes... Hades became Emet-Selch before Venat left her seat of Azem, and that gave Circe an in to bother other seats, such as Lahabrea. (Whom very little tolerated in full, outside of his own circles.)

    Eventually, Venat chose to pass down her seat to a friend...and put it to Circe, much to their surprise. It meant an end to freely wandering wherever they pleased, but to do so on a wider scale...! Excitedly nervous, they agreed.

    (And then proceeded to spread their special brand of chaos into the Convocation, for better and worse... Depending on who you ask.)

    Selene- The Amaurotine of who would eventually become Ajisai. In her time, she was primarily regarded for her artful dancing, weaving skills, and thoughtful advice. To many, she could come off as...intimidating, but her heart was deeply kind, and there were a fair deal of people who’d vouch for her.

    She actively lived in Amaurot, and occasionally traveled on request by other parts of the realm. Her most frequent concepts were that of night-walkers, outfit designs, and musical pieces she composed. Occasionally some dances as well, depending on how they were received. (Being an oddity of their race; Selene never submitted a dancing concept unless it was approved by others and someone requested it. Some fretted this could be seen as close-minded, but very few ever gave her trouble about it.)

    She would eventually end up dating Hermes for a time, although he broke up with her mysteriously as he agreed to take up the seat of Fandaniel. Selene never figured out why...but her name does live on within the fairies of Nym, summonable by Scholars.

    Aphrodite- The Ancient who would eventually become Kinara. (Semi-noncanon...? Debating on if this is WoL AU exclusive or not.) An open lover to many, she tended to take center stage in the debate halls, when not spending a night with a chosen partner. (Sometimes paying, sometimes not; she never really beheld herself to either.)

    It is said a debate of life, romance, and relationships were always better with Aphrodite in the mix. Although her vanity could make things personal, focused conversations often led to many interesting thoughts being taken into consideration. With quite a few walking away with new thoughts to bring to other parts of the world... (As, though primarily seen in Amaurot, Aphrodite, too, tended to wander a fair deal. Second to Circe, third to...someone else.)

    It’s unknown who of her lovers- if any at all- she may have favored above the rest or if she aligned with any sort of...identifiable relationship, at all. She simply “is” and many leave her to that.

    Perseus- Ancient to I’karus; a common sight within Elpis, as his skills with a blade meant that he often aided the researches in killing unruly creations...or culling the whole lot, if necessary. However... He was another oddity, in that he often offered words of condolences to the creatures he killed. Some wondered if it was a quirk of his, others thought him strange in general, to be wishing “prayers” upon mindless beasts. Well... Not that Perseus ever cared for gossip.

    In between such jobs, he took to wandering Elpis and submitting a concept of his own: the Pegasus. First one ever created was hand-raised by him, and a lot of their kindly temperament is associated to his specialty handling. Alas, none could persuade him to move from guardian to researcher.

    Although he never actively took to romance- at the least, had a few outings one could classify as dates, but nothing more- there was gossip that he had unrequited feelings for Circe, though none could ever prove it beyond, “They certainly hang out together, sometimes.”

    He did have a strong, good friendship with Hermes, however. He deeply respected Perseus’ job, and was touched by his final prayers for the concepts that were culled. If only things could’ve been different...

    Orpheus- The Ancient to Alexios, and a lover of music. Well-renowned for his voice and almost hypnotic music, he was- typically- the life of many parties. Public and private; if he wasn’t somewhere out and about, singing for the people, he was typically hired out to play for some function. Some even for the Convocation, themselves! (Not immune to the occasional party to take a breather from work. In this, he is the one Aphrodite is third to in wanderings; as he is second only to Circe.)

    Of their life, however, there was but one bigger pride and joy than even their music...and that was Eurydice. Credited loud & proud not only as their muse, but also the love of their life... To the point that, should she go before them, they would much rather follow her into the lifestream than be without. (Though no pressure for her to do the same, of course.)

    ...Their loving relationship was only broken by the End of Days. She died in the onslaught- magicks out of control- and he was left alone. Alive, until the Sundering.

    Phanes- Ancient to Valmir. A warm presence, he didn’t talk much, but when he did, it often brought comfort to the people around him. Largely, however, he preferred to work a guardian’s job in aiding the Convocation in various matters. Whether that was roaming to collect & submit reports, to ensuring that any odd Ancients were removed before accidents happened... It was a little of everything, for him. (Although- and thankfully- having to remove troublemakers was a rarity, indeed.)

    They tended to keep to nature, when off duty; Elpis, the greenhouses of Amaurot, or elsewhere. Nature brought them calm, and they sought it whenever possible. However, that didn’t stop them from ending up as Hythlodaeus’ friend, either... A bunch of sassy tricksters, those two.

    Phanes never did submit any concepts of their own, but did often peruse the files to see if anything caught their eye. On a rare occasion, they voiced support for the idea of rabbit people... Caught on record saying: “I am fond of their ears... Mayhap Azem” (Circe, at that time) “is onto something.”

    Achilles- Ancient to Altan, and a proud warrior, besides. Unlike Perseus, who did his job with cool respectability, Achilles was more...eager, for his job. Delighting in the fight, priding on his ability to hunt... In general, battle ready and proud of it, too. To the point that Venat was oft his sparring partner, when none else wanted to risk their lives dancing with his blade...

    Another Ancient to have never submitted a concept himself (although did offer advice to armors’ and weapon smiths’), but... Honestly, that may have been for the better. (If he ever did, it was probably when sharks were trending, much to Hythlodaeus’ silent fury.)  His role in life was to fight, and little else.

    On that note-! Was occasionally in sparring rings, though notorious for taking things too far/getting risky. Venat and other, higher caliber types were favored to go against him for that reason. Rarely did Achilles ever have downtime, but if he did...it was likely spent eating and drinking to heart’s content!

    ...Despite being a meathead, however, it’s actually quite likely he was one of the many who aided in the second stage of the Zodiark project. Offering his life up to the pseudo-god, first of his kind, to help save their world. It meant more to him than anything, after all... Filled with great fighters, and people he loved without ever saying it out loud. To sacrifice would’ve been an honor...

    (On the assumption the sacrifice still allowed for Sundering. If not... It’s likely he nearly died protecting others during the Final Days; still recovering when the Sundering happened.)
