Ils se sont retrouvés avec une cible collée dans le dos, désignés «complices de l’islam radical». Pourquoi ? Avoir signé une simple pétition appelant à la démission de Frédérique Vidal, la ministre de l’Enseignement supérieur qui avait déclaré mi-février que «l’islamo-gauchisme gangrène la société dans son ensemble et l’université n’est pas imperméable». «Islamo-gauchisme» : le mot était lâché, déclenchant une série de polémiques et livrant les partisans présumés de cette notion aussi éthérée que fantasmée à la vindicte. Et notamment à celle de l’extrême droite.

Lancée, dans la foulée des déclarations de Vidal, par des membres du personnel de l’enseignement supérieur et de la recherche, la pétition a très vite recueilli des milliers de soutiens et en comptait 23 000 lors de sa remise à Matignon, le 25 mars. Tous dénoncent «l’intention dévastatrice» de leur ministre accusée de «diffamer une profession et, au-delà, toute une communauté». Mais l’affaire dépasse vite le champ des idées avec la (re) publication, le 21 février sur un blog, de la «liste des 600 gauchistes complices de l’islam radicale (sic) qui pourrissent l’université et la France». Si ce site obscur n’est pas particulièrement politisé, le texte qui accompagne la fameuse «liste», toujours en ligne, comporte tous les stigmates de l’extrême droite. «Cette liste contient les noms des personnes, toutes payées par l’Etat donc par l’impôt des Français, souvent fonctionnaires, pour effectuer d’hypothétiques recherches qui n’intéressent qu’eux-mêmes et la sphère gauchiste plus ou moins radicale, s’épanche l’auteur. Ces recherches […] servent à développer les théories qui ont pour unique but de faire avancer l’islam et par conséquent le radicalisme islamique à l’université en particulier et en France en général.» L’homme, qui a visiblement agi sous son vrai nom, a également pris soin de mettre des liens comportant CV et contacts de certains signataires.

«Fausses informations»

L’affaire a été immédiatement prise «très au sérieux» par le CNRS, qui a saisi le procureur de la République. Contacté par Libé, il indique n’avoir pas eu de remontées de menaces supplémentaires à ce stade. Des universités, comme celle de Toulouse, se sont décidées à offrir la protection fonctionnelle aux chercheurs visés et à porter plainte. «L’extrême droite utilise les réseaux sociaux, Internet, pour faire circuler des fausses informations, accoler à des personnes bien réelles des opinions qui ne sont pas les leurs et, in fine, en faire des gens supposément dangereux qu’il faudrait presque attaquer…» dénonce Christophe Voilliot, cosecrétaire général du Snesup-FSU, contacté par Libé. Le syndicaliste regrette que Frédérique Vidal n’ait pas soutenu les chercheurs en question plus vigoureusement.

Le sociologue Eric Fassin, également signataire de la pétition, a pour sa part dénoncé une «chasse aux sorcières» lancée par la ministre Vidal et «relayée par la fachosphère». Le chercheur a lui-même été menacé de mort récemment par Didier Magnien, une ancienne figure de la mouvance néonazie, comme l’a révélé Mediapart. «Je vous ai mis sur ma liste des connards à décapiter le jour où ça pétera», avait lancé Magnien sur Twitter en réponse à un billet de blog publié par le sociologue dans la foulée de l’assassinat de Samuel Paty, où il expliquait notamment que «si les terroristes cherchent à provoquer un «conflit des civilisations», nous devons à tout prix éviter de tomber dans leur piège». Magnien a été condamné en décembre à quatre mois de prison avec sursis et 1 000 euros d’amende pour «menace de mort».

Mécanique bien huilée

Le schéma est simple, et presque toujours le même : une prise de position en lien de près ou de loin (parfois même de très loin) avec l’islam, les musulmans ou l’immigration dont la fachosphère s’empare et c’est la shitstorm («tempête de merde») dans le langage fleuri du Web. Grâce à des milliers de messages véhéments diffusés par des bataillons de militants ou des faux comptes, la fachosphère se joue des algorithmes et pousse ses sujets en tête des tendances, ce qui en démultiplie la portée. Et la violence pour les victimes de ce harcèlement.

Mais les réseaux radicaux s’en servent aussi pour gonfler ou créer de toutes pièces des polémiques par lesquelles ils parviennent à jouer sur l’agenda médiatique, ou politique. Outre le monde de la recherche, des personnalités comme Mennel, l’ancienne candidate de The Voice, l’animateur Yassine Belattar, les rappeurs Black M et Médine, la syndicaliste étudiante de l’Unef Maryam Pougetoux, attaquée pour s’être présentée voilée à une commission parlementaire de l’assemblée, et tant d’autres ont été ciblées par la fachosphère. Et les plateaux télé d’enchaîner les débats sur l’immigration, les études de genre, les questions identitaires, le «racisme anti-blancs» théorisé par Jean-Marie Le Pen, ou plus récemment la «non-mixité» des réunions syndicales à l’Unef.

Tempête d’insultes… puis de menaces

L’extrême droite en ligne maîtrise parfaitement la recette : relayer, s’indigner, faire réagir. Elle a encore fait preuve de ses capacités à agiter les réseaux sociaux et à décupler l’écho médiatique de certaines polémiques lors de la récente affaire liée à l’affichage − condamné par tous les acteurs − du nom de deux enseignants qualifiés de «fascistes» et taxés d’islamophobie, fin février à Sciences-Po Grenoble. Le monde politique a réagi, ainsi que la ministre Frédérique Vidal pour fustiger la mise en cause publique de ces deux enseignants placés sous protection policière. Face au tollé national, difficile d’entendre que l’un d’entre eux, Klaus Kinzler, avait auparavant rudement mis en cause le travail d’une enseignante. Sa «faute», selon lui ? Diriger un groupe de travail contre les discriminations employant le terme «islamophobie», terme qui serait une «arme idéologique [de la] guerre mondiale menée par des “fous de Dieu”», selon des échanges révélés par Mediapart. Kinzler s’était d’ailleurs fait recadrer par la direction de Pacte, le labo de recherche en sciences sociales CNRS /Sciences-Po Grenoble /UGA, comme l’a écrit Libé. L’affaire rebondit, mi-mars, lorsque l’animateur de CNews Pascal Praud, goguenard, donne à l’antenne le nom de la directrice du labo Pacte, coupable selon lui d’avoir défendu en interne sa collègue prise pour cible par Kinzler. Conséquence immédiate de l’outing de CNews : une tempête d’insultes et de menaces contre cette femme, qui doit désormais elle aussi vivre sous protection policière.

Cette intervention d’un leader d’opinion influent à la droite de la droite est un autre élément crucial de la mécanique fanatique de la fachosphère. Ce sont aussi les Eric Zemmour, Jean Messiha, Damien Rieu mais aussi le site Fdesouche, le «média de mobilisation» Damoclès, fondé par un collaborateur parlementaire LR, ou encore les néonazis anonymes du site interdit (mais qui reste accessible et a même un forum très fréquenté) «Démocratie participative» : une intervention de ces influenceurs, qu’elle soit sibylline ou carrément ordurière, peut transformer un épiphénomène en tempête.

Le phénomène ne concerne bien sûr pas que les chercheurs. Militants, journalistes, ou même anonymes en ont fait les frais ces dernières années. Si de plus en plus d’affaires finissent devant les tribunaux, la majorité reste impunie. Les raids numériques coordonnés et les tweets injurieux sont plus sévèrement réprimés depuis une loi de 2018. Et si un amendement a été inséré dans le projet de loi «confortant les principes de la République», pour contraindre (un peu) les réseaux sociaux à améliorer leur modération, la majorité compte surtout sur l’échelon européen. Le «Digital Services Act» devrait ainsi mettre fin à l’irresponsabilité juridique des géants du numérique. Il pourrait être adopté, au mieux, d’ici 2022.

Watchmen is a American neo-noir superhero film based on the 1986–87 DC Comics limited series of the same name by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. Directed by Zack Snyder.

A dark and dystopian deconstruction of the superhero genre, the film is set in an alternate history in the year 1985 at the height of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, as a group of mostly retired American superheroes investigates the murder of one of their own before uncovering an elaborate and deadly conspiracy, while their moral limitations are challenged by the complex nature of the circumstances.

In an alternate United States, beginning in 1939 during the fading Interwar period, a team of costumed crime-fighters is formed – the ”Minutemen”. The 1960s Vietnam War era through the mid-1980s Cold War sees the rise of the “Watchmen” team of heroes, whose existence dramatically affects world events. In 1959, after his apparent death in an Intrinsic Field Generator accident, Dr. Jon Osterman remakes his body as a god-like being dubbed “Doctor Manhattan”. The U.S. government utilizes his powers to win the Vietnam War and gain a strategic advantage over the Soviet Union which, by 1985, threatens thermonuclear war. The Comedian suppresses evidence of the Watergate scandal. By overwhelming public support, the 22nd Amendment is repealed, allowing President Richard Nixon to win a third term.

As anti-vigilante sentiment sweeps the nation, coupled with a nationwide police strike, the Keene Act is passed in 1977, declaring all “costumed adventuring” and “vigilantism” illegal. While most heroes like Daniel Dreiberg and Laurie Jupiter retire, Doctor Manhattan and the Comedian become government agents, and Rorschach continues to operate outside the law.

It looks absolutely stunning. I do like parts if it. When I initially read it I liked the vibe it was giving off. But when I actually played it felt like I was playing a resource management board game where each player would add to the pool on their turn, then use it and generate more.

Creativity did not feel like it had any impact on some of the challenges. In the end, I just could not care if the people lived or died.

The "HEAVILY" modified 2d20 just feels to 'clunky' & just to many rules to crunch. I wish it was trimmed up a little. Probably to used to FASA Star Trek. But in the end it just didn't end up being the game I thought it would be or wanted.

2: Mutant Crawl Classics. I haven't written a full review because the final book was revised, but it's not very good. It clings too hard to Dungeon Crawl Classics, and the result is neither a good Gamma World type game, nor a good fantasy game. People have enough judgment to decide by themselves if they want to block someone or not.

And asking someone to nuance his or her comment to better understand them and to discuss is one thing. Calling them like they have committed somekind of major offense is a other thing. This don't encourage discussion at all.

The Art of Racing in the Rain (Feature)

He may be recognized as the beloved father, Jack, on NBC’s popular series This Is Us, but Milo Ventimiglia is in Vancouver for a different type of role in Fox’s The Art of Racing in the Rain.

The movie is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Garth Stein and is centred around Milo’s character, pro racecar driver Denny Swift, and his family dog Enzo. The touching story reveals how Enzo evaluates himself based on the ups and downs of Denny’s life.

Milo will be joined by Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia, Twin Peaks) and Martin Donovan (Ant-Man, Legends of Tomorrow), who will play Denny’s wife (Eve) and father respectively. Amanda was in Vancouver back in 2009 for her role in Jennifer’s Body alongside Megan Fox.

The Art of Racing in the Rain will continue filming in Vancouver and British Columbia until July 23rd.

Filming in Vancouver: Van Helsing, Casey Affleck, Riverdale, and Timeless

This week, we’ve got vampire hunters, time travellers, pandemic survivors, and cheery comicbook characters gone gritty.

It’s all what’s shooting in Hollywood North this week. Intrigued? Well, read on and find out who you might run into while you’re out and about on the streets of this often surprising and unpredictable West Coast metropolis.

Although Light of My Life was previously scheduled to start on January 25 and continue shooting until March 10, it has since been rescheduled to start this Wednesday (February 8) and continue until March 30

The survival drama feature is written by, directed by, and stars Casey Affleck, who has been receiving accolades for his performance in the dramatic feature Manchester by the Sea (including an Oscar nomination).

While details about the storyline was previously limited, new details have surfaced.

Affleck stars as a father who tries to protect his young daughter (Anna Pniowsky) by living on the fringes of society after a deadly pandemic has destroyed much of the world.

Part of the film will be shot in Osoyoos, B.C., in British Columbia’s Okanagan region.

On the same day (February 8), Van Helsing kicks into production on Season 2. The TV series is scheduled to continue shooting until June 16.

The action-fantasy series, created by filmmaker Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men), follows the adventures of Vanessa Helsing (Kelly Overton).

In the wake of a volcanic eruption that has plunged the world into perpetual twilight, vampires have taken over society. Helsing is humanity’s last hope, as her unusual blood composition turns vampires back into humans.

The cast includes Jonathan Scarfe, Vincent Gale, Christopher Heyerdahl, David Cubitt, Trezzo Mahoro, Laura Mennell, and Terry Chen.

Timeless

Meanwhile, two other TV series are wrapping up this week.

Timeless ends production on its first season on Tuesday (February 7).

Timeless

The sci-fi drama series, which began shooting on July 22, follows a trio of experts—including a history professor (Abigail Spencer), a scientist (Malcolm Barrett), a solider (Matt Lanter)—as they try to stop a criminal (Goran Višnjić) from destroying America by using a stolen time travel machine to alter U.S. history.

Timeless

In Season 1, the team travelled to the eras of Jesse James, the Apollo 11 mission, the Watergate scandal, Abraham Lincoln, and the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair.

Three more episodes are yet to air, including one tonight.

Riverdale

Elsewhere in the city, another series finishing up shooting its inaugural season is Riverdale.

The darkly dramatic take on Archie Comics wraps up on Thursday (February 9), having started on September 7.

Unlike the cheerful comicbook, this teen drama of this version is set against some grim and unsettling circumstances: the death of quarterback Jason Blossom.

Archie (K.J. Apa) is struggling to reconcile his attraction to both his best friend Betty (Lili Reinhart) and the new rich girl Veronica (Camila Mendes).

Casey Cott

The cast includes Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy of the band Josie and the Pussycats; Casey Cott as the openly gay Kevin Keller; and Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, who narrates the series.

Robin Givens

Longtime TV viewers and screen trivia buffs will recognize some familiar names from the 1980s and ’90s, including Luke Perry (Beverly Hills, 90210) as Archie’s father; Robin Givens (Head of the Class), as Riverdale’s mayor and mother of Josie, and Molly Ringwald (Pretty in Pink), as Archie’s mother.
