regarding the post i reblogged on queering the map it's genuinely so meaningful to me that there's at least a small handful of stories in china. even if half of them are from visitors or people who moved out.. chinese queer people exist and are here and are loved. chinese lesbians fall in love at volleyball practice, chinese gay men hope to bring their husbands back to their family. chinese bisexuals have their first realizations, chinese queers have their first kiss. in the country that i come from but am so distances from by political tension and language and upbringing, queer people live. queer people are happy.

Pretty sure the music is either a reference of/an actual track from "A Bite of China", a food documentary series on the diverse multi-faceted food culture of China. It was super popular back in 2010s and was basically considered a cultural staple for introducing people to Chinese cuisine! I grew up watching it, the motif 30 seconds in is so iconic I'd recognize it anywhere, it basically trained a Pavlovian response out of me to start salivating now XD
