#Child Ponyboy Curtis AU

Hiya!! I was looking at your au list and saw one about Ponyboy being younger than he is in the canon, and I’m REALLY interested in that!

I just wanted to know, how do you think that would change the way the gang, his brothers would see him? Like how would that change their dynamics?

Also how much younger would he be?

I hope you don’t mind me asking, I just love this au idea and I’m real interested! (Btw I read some of the other aus you’ve made and OMG you’re so amazing! I love them 🩵)

I sort of imagine that Ponyboy is about 4 years younger than in canon, and he's a little clingy to his brothers. Especially Darry, though he is often found at Sodapop's side on darker or harder to handle days.

The gang would absolutely be more protective and worried about Ponyboy whenever he is by himself, and he's obviously not in highschool he's more late elementary school / early middle school.

Johnny is more 'big brother' to Ponyboy than canon (it's more emphasized), and he lets Ponyboy talk about all these books and movies, and the sunsets even more than in canon (Ponyboy still gets jumped, and Johnny freaks the fuck out a little bit more).

He's a little more childish, he lashes out a bit more when things don't make sense, and he absolutely doens't like Steve but more of a "why do you keep taking my brother from me" dislike rather than a genuine beefing with the other that Ponyboy hints at in canon. Steve also cannot bring himself to dislike that Ponyboy is so clingy with Sodapop, because he knows about Ponyboy's nightmares.

Which! Ponyboy's nightmares are a worse than canon. He'll have nights he wakes up screaming, and nights that he wakes up and just... stares. He'll space out and he will absolutely not respond no matter what is happening around him, but he is sitting up and breathing, and it's obvious he can hear you, he's just not responding. It's also obvious whenever he's had a night of nightmares (anywhere between 1 to 3 a night), because he'll be really quiet and sleepy the day after. (He also clings to Darry more, and he genuinely cries whenever Sodapop has to go to work.

Dally isn't as 'cold' or 'mean' to Ponyboy, but he still intimidates Ponyboy with out he interacts with others. Ponyboy gets more Johnny treatment than in canon! That's how I think about it, where Ponyboy could say just about anything and Dally wouldn't care, and Dally gets Ponyboy little things that he thinks Pony will like!

Two-Bit likes to watch Ponyboy on days where he decides to skip (Darry doens't like it but he also does because it means Ponyboy isn't home alone on days he's out of school or sick), and they like to play a whole bunch of games and they go out and 'cause mischief' (they go to the park and have fun and they go and buy art supplies because Pony still adores art, and they like to go hiking, which Darry doesn't know about the hiking).

Finally yapping about my foster kid Ponyboy au!!

It was just a year ago when Ponyboy lost his mom, she was a real nice woman. She taught him how to read, and watched sunsets, and told him how it was okay to cry every once in a while. She died when some guy came into her workplace and robbed the joint, shooting her and a few customers dead. It was all over the news. When his mom died he was transferred into OKDHS’s, or, Oklahoma Department of Human Services’s foster system. In his one year in the system he’s already been in 3 houses and in between a few Boys Homes. As he’s been to more houses, they’ve only gotten worse. He’d been in the first house for a month and they were okay, he could just tell their priorités weren’t helping a depressed boy get over his parents death. He couldn’t blame them. He was gotten rid of once their younger son decided he didn’t like having an older brother. The second family expected a toddler. He’s arguably *not* a toddler. They didn’t like him, and they ignored him. He stayed there for 3 months being ignored and basically living on his own. The final placement he was at for 6 months. They definitely didn’t like him, and he could tell from the recently healed scar on his arm. Yeah. After that house they decided it wasn’t safe for him to be at a boys home In between, with a whole lot of rough housing boys and rowdy teens. He was sent to an emergency placement. That’s when he met the Curtis Brothers. Their parents died recently too he found out, and the oldest only became an emergency foster parent because he needed to prove he could take care of his brother by taking care of any emergency placements. They hadn’t had one until he showed up, he kinda felt bad. He ruined their dynamic.

Does Bryon have a role in the Dallas mark and Tex (and Mason) au? The end of TWTTIN always made me so sad knowing that mark didn’t see Bryon as a brother anymore

Bryon could have a role actually, valid point. Idk, I liked Bryon. Not like. A lot. But I liked him alright, and related to him in a few ways that make me slightly uncomfortable tbh, and I feel so bad for him-

I think for this AU, we’ll say Mark still talks to Ponyboy, and separately, Bryon talks to Ponyboy too. Not on purpose, initially, because he’s not the world’s biggest Ponyboy fan- but after Mark runs away to Dally’s place, Bryon’s hit with all the feelings he had in the end of TWTTIN. Only this time, Mark’s not in jail. In fact, Bryon’s pretty sure that that Curtis kid knows where Mark’s hiding- after all, he’s in the same gang as that washed-up hood Dallas Winston who’s always up to something. So Bryon seeks Ponyboy out for info. But then it just turns into like. Talking about his feelings about…everything. He’s kept it bottled up for so long that the second Pony prods him, Bryon just sorta spills.

(Design notes- Bryon’s hair’s grown out cos he’s depressed and not really taking care of himself all that well. Sixteen-year-old Pony’s hair, on the other hand, is long cos all the refs I could find of very slightly older C. Thomas Howell had 80s mullets. And yk what that’s kinda funny so I went with it- let’s just say it’s because after Johnny’s horrible haircut in Windrixville Ponyboy can’t risk letting it get cut so short ever again)

So now, essentially Ponyboy’s stuck between his buddy Mark, who complains about Bryon constantly, and Bryon, who is Pony’s girlfriend’s ex, and Pony’s friend’s…ex-brother? And both Bryon and Mark kinda talk to each other through Ponyboy, who’s like an unwilling messenger now. Or like the child of divorced parents, trying his damndest to keep the two from hating each other too much. (Mainly just Mark- Bryon just feels guilty)

If I were to make this au a multi chapter fic, I’d give Mark a running gag of coming up with Dr. Doofenshmirtz-style revenge plans against Bryon and trying to rope Ponyboy, Tex, Mason, and occasionally even Cathy and Angela Shepard into them.

I think Dally would be a Bryon hater cos Dally’s one big moral code is loyalty- honor among thieves, yk- and Bryon betrayed Mark. But Pony and Johnny would sympathize with the guy. Also low key I think Johnny would be a Mark hater

How would you think the whole dynamic within the gang would be if ponyboy instead of dally dying

Ok I've been sitting on this one for a few days because I'm drowning in exam season and I wanted to answer it properly.

So, I'm gonna disclaimer this and say that my previous posts hold true. In canon verse if Pony had died, Johnny would have died too and Dally can't survive without Johnny, but this is a fun thought experiment so lets dive in!

Ok so there's a few scenarios I could see that result in Pony dying but not Dally, but I'm just gonna write the one I think is most likely because this is gonna be LONG. This version is the one where Pony is the one whose back gets broken in the church fire and he succumbs to his injuries, the way Johnny does in canon. In this universe there is no bittersweet Curtis brother reunion in the hospital. Instead, you have Johnny alone in the waiting room, pale faced and shaking, who only left Ponyboy's side when the doctors threatened to kick him out of the hospital (i've said it before and I'll say it again- Johnny is PROTECTIVE AF over Pony). In this universe you have Darry and Soda stumbling into the hospital looking shellshocked, and Soda is sobbing already, and Darry looks so lost and so scared and so guilty. In this universe you have a Darry and a Soda who don't leave the hospital, refuse to leave Pony's side, a Darry that begs Ponyboy for forgiveness when Pony is conscious and who is granted it even though it never feels like enough, a Darry that tells Pony over and over that he loves him, and who watches the doctors with young, terrified, hopeless eyes, that are grieving what he already knows and refuses to accept. You have a Soda who promises Ponyboy over and over that he'll be okay, that refuses to speak to the doctors or even Ponyboy when it becomes clear that Pony won't survive this, who leaves in a fit of tears when he can no longer ignore it and returns just in time for Ponyboy to croak out a final I love you as he takes his last breath. After that its chaos. The rumble still happens, but since the Curtis' didn't leave the hospital until now it happens after Pony dies. Soda is too inconsolable to fight, and Darry refuses to, grieving and cold and unable to, unable to do anything anymore, unable to even hope. Johnny doesn't fight either, and Dally calls him a pussy for it, tells him to do it for Pony and Johnny refuses, knowing it's not something Pony would have wanted. They get into a fight none of the rest of the gang ever expected to see, and Dally goes to the rumble along with Steve and Two-bit, he goes to the rumble but he doesn't fight fair, he pulls a blade and gets arrested, because he couldn't handle Pony's death any better than he could handle Johnny's he just handles it differently. Since he's already up on murder charges he takes the fall for killing Bob, protecting Johnny one last time in a final effort to preserve Pony's legacy or maybe just try and keep Johnny gold, despite their argument. Dallas Winston's story ends there, as effectively as it did in canon, and he spends the next twenty years behind bars. The fallout from Pony's death throws Johnny Cade into an even deeper depression, and (because he can't die in this au) after Pony's funeral, in which he delivers a eulogy that is a modified version of his letter in canon, he runs away from Tulsa, for good this time, leaving behind the only family he ever had, splintered, cracked and then broken beyond repair. He never comes back and no one ever hears from him again.

Darry and Sodapop return home, wracked with grief, and grief. Soda blames Darry for Pony's death, and Darry can't even argue. He blames himself too. They plan the funeral, bury Pony beside their parents just a few days after he took his last breath. At the funeral they're approached by a social worker. The death of a kid under his care has Darry Curtis under investigation for child abuse and gross child neglect. Whether he's convicted or not doesn't matter- in any case Sodapop Curtis is removed from his care effective immediately, as Darry is declared an unfit guardian. It doesn't matter that Soda wants to stay, he doesn't have a choice. Sodapop Curtis spends just over a year in foster care, not allowed to have any contact with his brother, apart from what he hears from Steve and Two-bit at school- which isn't much. He tries not to think about Johnny Cade who left without saying goodbye, or the little brother that did and never should have had to, and eventually takes a leaf out of Two-bit's book and starts drinking until the thoughts become hazy and the world gets quiet. He's had enough of noise to last a lifetime. Steve Randle stays by his side and tries everything he knows to bring back the version of Sodapop Curtis that Ponyboy knew, the one he loved. It takes about six months before he accepts that version of Sodapop is dead too, had died with Pony, and this husk of a man is the only real Soda that is left.

Two-bit Mathews left the hospital the night Ponyboy died with a bottle in his hand and hatred in his heart. He fought alongside Dally in the rumble, beat some kid soc barely bigger than Ponyboy until his knuckles were bruised and the socs face was more blood than skin. He watched Dally Winston give up, watched the fight in him burn bright until the cuffs were around his wrists and it was gone. Two-bit raised a can to the end of the hoodlum, toasted to the end of another east side kid who never had a chance, and hadn't stopped drinking since, stuck celebrating the bruised up tragedy they'd all never escape day after day. Some days, when he thinks maybe he could try it again, the thing called living that felt a lot like dying, he checks in on Darry Curtis and remembers there isn't any sort of point to that kind of trying.

Darry Curtis is a broken man. He's found not guilty on all charges, and Soda's eighteenth comes not two weeks later. The remaining two Curtis brothers reunite, the youngest one not the one who's supposed to be. They get up. They go to work. Darry Curtis works hard and watches the world around him and sees nothing. His eyes are shadows, his hands are regret, and his being is grief. Most folks don't talk to Darry much these days. Darry doesn't talk much either. He thinks sometimes, about his friends, about where Johnny might be, how Dallas might be doing, but usually he thinks of Ponyboy, of the brother he killed through his pride and his fear and his own stupid anger, and he wishes he couldn't think anything at all.

Darry comes home to too much dinner made in too normal colours and a brother whose eyes are far too foggy. Soda is home, and things should be better but they aren't, they never are, never will be again. There are liquor bottles in the cupboard that never used to be there, and a space in the bedroom down the hall that never should have been empty, and the house isn't full of anything anymore except grief.

Ponyboy Curtis died and everyone else survived. But none of them lived.

what’s some soda cannons you have?

This is about to be the most random stream of consciousness so enjoy, also I’m doing modern AU but some might fit regardless of timeline

Talks in his sleep, Ponyboy likes to try and get it on video because he’ll sorta respond to questions sometimes

Will play in the pool for hours, doesn’t matter who’s with him he’ll peeking over the side of the pool like HEY WATCH THIS and then do some somersault in the water or something

Betty eventually gets all of them hooked on reality tv (ie 90 day fiance, below deck etc) but soda sees 2 seconds of it and is all in (Darry and pony take longer to come around but they do secretly love it lol)

Had many cavities as a child because he loved sugar but also was bad about remembering to brush and floss

HATES doing puzzles. Ponyboy tried to get him to do one with him when it was a really cold snowy day in the winter and he got so frustrated after like 5 seconds because he didn’t even have the patience to sort the pieces 😂

He loves taking 0.5 pictures of the gang from very unflattering angles. He does it constantly and without warning. It drives Darry nuts because he always gets the worst pictures of him

Actually a very good singer (I think all of the Curtis brothers can sing decently tbh but he’s the most willing to sing in front of people)

Gets a tattoo impulsively for fun and gets hooked. Darry was not amused by the impulsivity (Soda why didn’t you at least take a day to THINK about what you might wanna get???)

Would very easily go viral on TikTok just for goofing off and videoing it. Partially because he (and the gang) are hilarious, but also he def has a bunch of people who think he’s hot (let’s say this is once he’s an ADULT because leave the teenagers ALONE)

He and Steve became best friends in kindergarten but also would get sent to the principals office because of fighting each other (they were genuinely play fighting but the teachers didn’t believe them cause they were going all in 😂)

This is a Curtis bros one to finish this out but: I think all three of them get matching tattoos once pony is old enough (pls come at me with ideas)

The Outsiders Mafia AU (Headcanons)

!!WARNING: This may contain some spoilers!!!

-Johnny loves Jazz (blues are a close second)

-Darrel is called ‘Superman’ because he once stopped mid getaway to help a woman cross the street

-The entire mafia group worships Frank Sinatra

-Tim got his scar in a violent one-on-one fight with Dallas, which also led to him losing the eye

-Johnny is a FANTASTIC cook, and shares his love through food

-Ponyboy used to watch a ton of Mafia/Secret Agent movies to ‘study’ for his future job

-The Shepherds are all from Sicily, and lived there for most of their teen years

-Johnny learned to speak several languages so that he make international deals

-Angela puts hours of efforts into her curls, and once killed a man for trying to run his fingers through them to flirt

-Curly prides himself in his height, he grew to the same height as Tim just a year before the events of ‘No Permanent Death’ and loves to remind everyone

-Johnny actually has a hatred for alcohol, but drinks it (or pretends to) to make himself seem older

-Tim will only ever drink beer

-Dallas became an assassin because he wanted to be like Charlie Chan and almost quit when he realized the man was, in fact, not an assassin

-Johnny has faked his own death about six times, and has gotten creepily good at it

-Darry hates swearing, and only does it when he’s very very upset

-Darrel is the only Curtis who can speak more than just English, He learned Italian so he could understand exposed messages within the Mob

-Dallas has actually run into the Shepherds several times, he never realized Johnny was Bambi because usually the boss doesn’t participate in the fights

-The socs do exist in this universe!! Most of them are businessmen/women who the mob has killed :P

-Sylvia also exists!! She is Dally’s ex-girlfriend, she left him after she figured out he kills people for a living

-Soda and Steve are still dating Evie and Sandy in this verse. Sandy isn’t aware of what Soda does, Evie actually is also a member of the mob and often helped out Steve at work

-When Mr.Shepherd died, all of his jewelry was given to Johnny because he was taking his place. The only thing he kept was a ring (a thick, gold, engraved ring with a red ruby) the rest was given to the Shepherds to disperse amongst themselves

-The Shepherds each got one ear pierced when they were teens to be more like their father

-Johnny sees the Shepherds as his equals, which is the reason they all dress similarly. This is also why it doesn’t occur to someone that he is the boss.

-Angelas callsign “Bella” comes from the word Bello: which means Beautiful in Italian

-Johnny once shot a very important client just because they shoved Curly

-Curly is actually really bad at his job, but gets away with it because of pure luck

-Soda got the name ‘Dice’ because he's known for taking chances on the job

-Johnny called Tim ‘Scarface’ after he lost his eye in an attempt to raise his spirits, and the name just stuck

-Tim has a glass eye, but often takes it out because he thinks its funny how grossed out his coworkers get

-Johnny wanted to be a musician, and can play the sax and guitar (he couldn’t decide if he wanted to be Louis Armstrong or Chuck Berry lmao)

-Curly wholeheartedly thought he and Johnny were related for most of his life, because he wasn’t on the mission where they found him

-Johnny gives out most of the nicknames, he was actually the first person to call Darry ‘Superman’

-The Sicilian Mafia is usually very specific about only letting in Italians. Johnny called bullshit on this, and that's how Steve(slick) and Buck(comma) got put in

-Steve used to work at the DX, he got invited in to the mafia because he was the only one who was willing to take Johnny’s car (all of his former coworkers thought a scruffy child with a century old car wouldn’t pay well)

-Buck got invited in after Tim and Johnny saw a man throw a drink on him (he beat the man to a pulp and Johnny said he had good enough aim to work for them)

-Angela LOVES compliments (She forces her brothers to hype her up 24/7)

-Johnny holds large dinners with everyone who works under him once a month to get to know them. The reason so many people are willing to take orders from him is because they know he’s the kindest boss they’ll get

-Tim is incredibly well-versed in dressing wounds, it's become somewhat of his job

-Curly cannot aim for shit, and has repeatedly just handed the gun to someone else

-The Curtis’s used to have a dog before Ponyboy was born, but they had to get rid of it to be able to pay for his upbringing

-Curly is known for full-on tackling people in fights, which actually works incredibly well

-Johnny is a horrible driver and has hit several pedestrians, animals, and trees (and got very upset after each one)

-Ponyboy has a binder that he uses as a dairy, he had pages dating back to his parents death

-Curly once tried to tackle Darry on a mission, Darry then simply pulled him off and tossed him out of the room

-Darrel refuses to do any work that involves a woman, and has lost to the Shepherds several times because he wouldn’t detain Angela

-Soda once drove a getaway car straight into the side of a building, and it almost got him and Darry killed

-Johnny paid for Steve to get braces, and he had the nickname ‘Lock Jaw’ for a VERY long time

-The Curtis’s often have movie nights!!

-Johnny refuses to hurt children, and often makes someone take the kid to another room if they do anything violent

-Ponyboy LOVES the arts, and his knowledge of Italian literature and art has saved him many times

-Angela is an excellent baker, and often tries to get her brothers to help her (they fuck it up every single time)

-Ponyboy still has nightmares in this universe, and has climbed into Soda/Darrys bed several times

-Darry hates that Pony often sees him as the bad guy, but knows he has to be to keep him safe

-Johnny is known for having an odd sense of humor and it has almost gotten him killed a million times

-Tim has “la famiglia” tattooed on his right bicep, with three little hearts under it (very similar to the one his father has on his neck)

-Though Steve doesn’t have and important role in the Mafia, him and Johnny are very good friends

-Tim is what's known as the ‘consigliere’ which means he serves as an adviser to the leader and resolves disputes within the family. (Johnny refused to make anyone the underboss because he didn’t like to think of any of them beneath him in rank)

-Ponyboy is a stargazer

-Johnny was been confused for a girl several times due to his long hair, but he refuses to cut it

-Tim gets very upset when people flirt with Angela (he’s the definition of a over-protective older brother)

-Johnny has never dated anyone- he knows whomever they are will be put in danger, and he doesn’t like the thought of people he loves fearing for their lives

-Soda once got a concussion because he ran into a wall during a chase with Curly, Curly only remembers him as ‘the wall kisser’

-The Shepherds all have a violent hatred for Ponyboy because Johnny told them about what happened in the first chapter (though Johnny has never spoken about him with even an ounce of malice)

-Darrel has been shot many times, so much so that the hospital knows him by name

-Johnny can’t stand hospitals because his parents once left him at one for three weeks. So even if he is on his damn deathbed he will NEVER go to one

-Just about everyone in the Mafia is not proud to be in it, but they all know it’s the best thing they can do with their backgrounds

-Buck and Johnny are rather close, and Buck often makes him fake drinks (ones without alcohol) because he knows how much the boy hates it

-Darry and Soda are both REALLY into cars. it’s actually helped them a lot in car chases, because they can always remember the make and model of the car

-The Shepherd Family was actually not very well known until Johnny took over, but he still worships Mr.Shepherd as if he’s the most famous man on earth

-most named characters has been to prison at one point (aside from Angela, Curly, Ponyboy, and Darrel)

-The job as Boss is incredibly stressful, and Tim has taken over for Johnny on several occasions

-Tim taught Angela, Curly, and Johnny hand-to-hand combat. He’ll often brag about it to anyone who will listen.

-Johnny goes by the Shepherd name, and only signs ‘Cade’ under important documents

-Angela has the best aim out of her entire family

-Tim actually was very upset when Johnny got his job as boss, but got over when he realized just how much the job SUCKEDD

-Two-Bit and Dallas worked together when they were rookies, but Dallas eventually moved on to do bigger and better things

-Ponyboy loves August weather, but feels he can’t enjoy those months becuase that’s when his folks died

-Two has run into Angela several times and made several (failed) attempts to flirt with her

-Johnny and Dallas have actually had several conversations in this universe, But Dallas never thought he was worth killing

-Sometimes random pastries/foods would appear on the Curtis doorstep during the Great Depression, they never knew where or who it came from but it helped them to survive (take a wild guess who made them lol)

-Johnny used to play the guitar while Angela sang to help Curly sleep <3

-Darry has never once touched a cigarette, but will drink jus tan out anything put in front of him

-Pony LOVES Italian food, but refuses to eat it because it just feels wrong to him

-Red is Angela’s favorite color, which is why the whole group is forced to wear something red (she picks out their clothes literally every day)

-Mrs.Shepherd died while giving birth to Curly, so Johnny and Curly have both never met her

-The Shepherds love spring because it reminds them of Sicily

-Bucks original nickname was FAG (Funny Accent Guy), given to him by Curly

-The Curtis brothers were all relatively short as kids, but shot up the second they hit puberty

-Tim tried to kidnap Louis Armstrong for Johnny's birthday (it did not work.)

-The Mafia has two main cover restaurants. One being a bar (that we see in the first chapter) and the other being an off-brand Italian place (Whenever someone fails an important job, they are banished to work at one of these two places)

-Johnny is the shortest person on his team, so he’ll often just step on their feet when they upset him

-Darrel is an avid people watcher

-Johnny actually looked up to many of the agents, and will excitedly tell people whenever he gets in a fight with one of them (even if he completely beats their ass he's still a total fanboy)

-Dallas has a really good memory, and can easily recall every fight he’s ever been in

Hocus Postus (I'm so funny)

So Hocus Pocus right, but make it the Outsiders. So the Curtis family is moving from Salem from LA for the vibes (we’re scrapping Tulsa all together cause Salem fits the vibes cause witch trials and all that). So you have the same Sanderson sisters lore with Zachary and stuff, the only change is I don’t remember whether or not little boys work for their like- child soul sucking to be young, but in this AU boys are equally as effective as girls. So the town is super into Halloween which Darry finds weird, but honestly he’s just a hater because he had to move here mid high school which- fair.

Dani kind of gets combined into both Ponyboy and Soda in this AU. The sisters are mostly after Ponyboy because the younger the better, but also Soda’s only like 11 or 12 so it’s not like he’s useless to them or anything. But Ponyboy is the only one who gets kidnapped by them at the end (Soda almost does but Paul saves him). Soda’s character in this is kind of like a bridge between childhood and not so childhood, so he’s still childish and somewhat bratty like Ponyboy but he’s also beginning to understand Darry and why he’s so upset. At the beginning of the movie, Darry only realizes how much of an asshole he’s been when he realizes he almost made Soda cry as well as actually making Ponyboy cry.

Paul takes the part of Addison. He’s like the standard golden boy, he comes from the richest family in town and is a co captain of the football team his junior year. Him and Darry are immediately infatuated with eachother for different completely selfish reasons. Darry sees Paul as a way for him to make friends and be accepted by the team, because everyone follows his lead. Paul sees Darry as fun and different and he’s bored with his life and wants something exciting. He’s also really jealous of Darry’s relationship with his brothers as he is an emotionally neglected only child. So it isn’t a huge shock when Paul invites Darry to his parents halloween party, and Darry is really upset when he has to skip out on it to take his brothers trick or treating. And Paul is disappointed Darry blew him off, until he shows up with his little brothers (who Paul is very sweet to btw).

It’s still Darry’s idea to go to the museum, which Soda and Ponyboy are very scared of. Steve told Soda all sorts of things about the Sanderson sisters, which Soda told Ponyboy. But Darry begs them and promises to do whatever they want next Halloween, so they agree. They get to the museum and Darry lights the black flame candle to impress Paul (even tho Paul is telling him to cut it out-) and because he’s a loser virgin the Sanderson sisters come back to life. They almost immediately get their hands on Soda and Ponyboy, but Darry and Paul rescue them and they escape. It’s all the events of the movie after that like the graveyard and party and stuff (if anyone wants to know about specific scene’s I’ve thought about all of them and will gladly take asks).

After they ‘kill’ the Sanderson sisters everybody goes back to the Curtis house, including Binx who Soda and Ponyboy have basically adopted. Darry wants to stay with his brothers and Paul doesn’t love the idea of being by himself, so what ends up happening is Ponyboy and Soda share a bed while Darry and Paul curl up together on the couch. They fall asleep in eachothers arms and realize they’re maybe not straight. Early the next morning after the whole spellbook debacle, Darry and Paul are about to sort out their feelings when surprise surprise the Sanderson sisters aren’t dead and they came to kidnap Darry’s brothers.

They put up a lot more of a fight than they do in the movie, and Paul actually manages to save Soda by chucking a handful of salt in one of the witches faces. Darry gets knocked unconscious briefly enough that the witches escape with Ponyboy though, and he’s devastated. The witches are also upset at this point bc they got the mouthy one-. Sarah’s song doesn’t work on Soda because he understands too much about what is happening. After that it’s back to the basic movie plot again, at the end Ponyboy and Soda both hide in the grave and run out to get Billy’s head but only Ponyboy is grabbed. Winifred only has one potion left, and she’s about to use it on Ponyboy just to spite Darry, but Darry gets ahold of the potion and drinks it instead, sacrificing himself. But Winifred turns to dust before she can suck Darry’s soul, so he kinda got lucky.

Oh also everything that happens in canon still happens here, which means that even after all this Paul and Darry have their falling out and the Curtis parents die :3

Practically nonverbal; staples are also on parts of his mouth, making it harder to speak (not that he minds).

↑If he wants to talk really badly, he'll use notebooks from when he was in middle school.

Kind of doesn't take care of his hair anymore. I.E. he doesn't grease his hair, roots are showing, in desperate need of a haircut

Sodapop

Angel

He basically just. spawned in... More specifically he fell from heaven when he was found guilty for treason

For the first few months he was with the gang, he consistently spoke Enochian (angel language) so Steve and Pony helped him learn proper English

Very prim and proper. Only ponyboy has ever seen him messy (happened once, but soda didn't really care because of the stitches)

He and Steve share EVERYTHING especially food. Sees Steve as a brother (because soda doesn't really care about romantic love in this AU)

Darry

Ponyboy is his blood brother; soda was adopted due to pony's begging

When ponyboy died, Darry was devastated. Eventually he found enough strength to try and bring pony back to life (with the help of soda and dally)

His horns are sensitive to light touch such as petting. Also has a tail but is rarely shown

Loves sewing! Additionally he doesn't have to work multiple jobs bc the landlord is scared of them (who wouldn't there's legit a half zombie, angel, and minotaur in the same house)

Steve

Has a birth defect where he doesn't have snake hair. To make up he owns 7 pet snakes (possibly 7 deadly sins?)

Has 3 sisters (medusa, stheno, euryale). When people ask him about his family he gets embarrassed when they side eye him (they think Steve is lying)

Has snake scales on parts of his face. Also wears bandage on his eyes in public (learned that the hard way, the stone statues are still there 😭)

Steve takes care of his nails, often just reshaping or giving them a trim. Also pretty clean

Two-bit

Griffin

Crashed through the window of the Curtis brother's house trying to catch a thief. Ended up staying way longer than he should have

Loves to fly around with Sodapop just to keep him company (canon that soda can't stay still for long)

He visits his mom and little sister often and brings trinkets and snacks. Darry comes along every once in a while

WILL SMACK THE GANG WITH HIS TAIL; it doesn't matter if it's on purpose or not, It still annoys the living shit out of them

Prompt that created the world- age accuracy pb&j idea ponyboy and Johnny set in modern times, but they’d be as if they aged up and created their own family.

The au begins with a 46-year-old Ponyboy Curtis and a new student in his English class named Tex Romero. Pony is a teacher at a local middle school, he comes across a kid who bares a striking resemblance against one of his closest friends, Dallas Winston. Tex asks why he, and Johnny never got married or dated anybody and starts explaining a queer platonic relationship. The pair have a lightbulb moment when Tex is done explaining to them. Tex started the conversation by asking about Darry and two-bit trying to learn more about this new adoptive family he's found himself in because he talked to a teacher about when he was found by child protective services running around without any kind of parents, so he was sent to foster care and being forced to go to school. Tex mentions that Darry and Two-bit act like Johnny and Pony do with each other. When asked to explain what he meant by the two pairs acting alike he mentions that both pairs act like a married couple despite neither of them ever marrying or having kids. Pony is forced to explain Darry hasn't dated in decades because he stopped being friends with a guy he knew when he was young. Darry is sent to talk to Tex and he tells him about the situationship the old man in his youth, Tex mentions the possibility that Darry was in love with Paul holden and they had a breakup he never got over and that was why he never married or dated even after his schedule cleared up immensely when his youngest brother left home to go to school. Tex talking about relationships had unopened a can of worms nobody was sure were going to close until everything was discussed and talked about. He’d opened hidden lore about his new family, and he was always a curious sort, so he was determined to find the truth to everything and convince his dads to get together officially and his newfound uncles to admit their own feelings towards each other.

Sodapop turned his pout onto his brother, who immediately looked away. Cheryl laughed lightly as Ponyboy also mimed hiding his face against her shoulder completely. Sodapop sighed, though he did begin listening to his older brother, turning and beginning to gather his stuffed horses up into his arms. He even grabbed Ponyboy's stuffed rabbit that had a horseshoe stitched into the stomach up to hand to his younger brother when he was walking by. Cheryl decided not to tell him about the trail of horses behind him as he did so. Darry seemed to agree, as he snickered quietly to himself. It would at least wear Sodapop out a little, having to come running back and forth to carry all of them.

"If only, if only, the wood pecker sighs," Cheryl sung quietly, smiling as there were matching groans from her eldest two sons, and a quiet squeal of excitement from her youngest.

"No mama, no, not yet!" Her oldest, Darrel Jr. cried out. He had water colors in front of him and it was clear he'd been doing something with it; Cheryl couldn't really see what he'd been attempting to paint from where she was leaning against the doorframe to the living room.

"More time?" Sodapop, her middle child, asked with wide eyes. He had a few of his horse plushies in front of him. Cheryl shook her head as her youngest pushed himself up and toddled towards her, eyes wide with excitement and happiness. Sodapop pouted, holding his current stuffed animal as close to his chest as he could, wrapping his arm around it as if she was going to take it away from him. "Please mama?"

"It's already nine, baby, aren't you tired?" She genuinely had to wonder. There were nights when her six year old was out by seven, and other nights when he was up until midnight, too hyper to be laid down. She always tried her best.

"No," Sodapop shook his head, though Cheryl could see that he was lying. His eyes were a little droopy, he was only half way turned towards her with one hand on the ground and one around his stuffed animal, and he was sucking on his lip a little. Little tells that Sodapop didn't know existed yet. Cheryl smiled, bending down to pick up her three year old, who nuzzled into her shoulder happily.

"Come on now you two, we can always play more tomorrow." She watched her eleven year old pout, though he did start moving to clean up; he'd been painting while her and Sodapop conversed, trying to finish whatever it was he was working on. Sodapop let his lip wobble a little, and Cheryl only smiled a little warmer.

Her husband, Darrey Sr., was smiling. His arms were crossed over his chest as he leaned against the doorway, still in his work clothes. "Be strong my weary wolf; turn around boldly. Fly high, my baby bird, my angel my only."

"Papa," Ponyboy giggled, one arm reaching out for his father as Cheryl walked towards him. Ponyboy was at least tired enough that she knew that he would be out soon enough. There was no way for Darrel Sr. to rile up their youngest, not like their middle child at least. Not in any way that counted.

"Ja nu vienīgi, dzenis nopūšas, Koka miza bija mīksta kā debesis." He started to sing quietly as he took their youngest, pressing a kiss to Cheryls forehead as he began to pace the room. Ponyboy was nearly out, and he had a big smile on his face as his weakly made a fist in his father's shirt, clinging to him as his eyes fluttered close. "Ja nu vienīgi, tad mēness nerunā nekādu atbildi; Atspoguļojot sauli un visu, kas pagājis." Darrel hummed as he rubbed Ponyboy's back, and Cheryl sighed as she turned at the excited gasp that Sodapop let out upon hearing their father.

"Esi stiprs, mans nogurušais vilks; drosmīgi apgriezies." Cheryl silently stopped Sodapop from making too much noise; unlike their father, Sodapop had a knack for waking Ponyboy up and riling him up. Too many missed naps led to that conclusion. "Lidojiet augstu, mans putnu mazulis, mans eņģelis, mans vienīgais." Cheryl picked Sodapop up and set him on her hip as they faced the room again to find Darrel gently tucking Ponyboy in bed.

"Someone is definitely excited your home," Cheryl commented quietly after her husband pressed a kiss to Ponyboy's forehead. Darrel looked up, a smile breaking out onto his face.

"Hey little buddy, whatcha' doin' up?" He asked, making sure that Ponyboy was for sure asleep before walking towards the two of them, happily picking Sodapop up from Cheryl's arms as they retreated from the doorway. They left Ponyboy's door ajar, a nightlight both in his room and in the hallway turned on as they walked back towards Sodapop's room.

He must not have been as asleep as Cheryl had thought.

"Not tired," Sodapop shrugged, his hands tightening on his father's shirt when they'd made it to Sodapop's room.

"I'm going to get ready for bed myself," Cheryl pressed a kiss to Darrel's cheek, smiling and ruffling Sodapop's hair when he made a noise of disgust with a quiet laugh before making her way down the hallway. Darrel had a knack for getting Sodapop to sleep in a way that Cheryl just didn't. She was more than happy to let him take over their little trouble maker.

AU where Sandy's baby was Sodapop's but she didn't tell him that she was pregnant and just left the baby on their doorstep before leaving for Florida, leaving Sodapop a single teen dad.

Teen Mom Cherry Valance AU

AU where Cherry finds out she was pregnant with Bob's baby a few weeks after Bob's death and how she deals with it and life with out Bob. Initially it was created because I was curious about the Socs and wanted a way to learn them without bothering people to much.

Creature Companion AU

Everyone is given a 'creature' egg that they have to take care of until it hatches and then you have a magical companion/familiar that you are to raise and care for and exist with until both of you reach maturity to prove you are worthy of your magical power (an ability unique to you), also, magical companion is a familiar.

Adopted Curtis AU

A mentioned AU / idea of Ponyboy being adopted by the Curtis Parents and them (the brothers/gang) not finding out until after the Curtis Parents died, either because Darry had to fight extra hard to keep him home, or because Darryw as going through boxes in the attic and came across the adoption papers

I had an idea where Mr. and Mrs. Curtis had met during Jurassic Park and had hated each other but grew closer through their shared experience of near death after near death after near death and protecting each other; and then their children who are fighting after their death (Read: Ponyboy and Darry are fighting) are on the Jurassic World Island when the Jurassic World fails.

Child Ponyboy AU

I had an idea of Ponyboy being a few years younger than in canon, and he's the only one with a changed age, and how that would change the gang dynamics and the events of the book. Completely inspired by the idea of Sodapop doting on a younger Ponyboy.

The Bus to Nowhere

AU inspired by a ghost story I'd read about, about a bus that appears when you are at your lowest that had like... three different endings? Either you got on and where able to leave at the same point in time once you were better, you got on and when you later got off it was years in the future, and the third being that if you got on no one ever saw you again.

The Childhoods of a Greaser

I love headcanons, and I love thinking of characters, so I wondered what the childhoods of the Curtis Gang were like. Memories, fears, funny moments, holidays, how they met, ect... and this one is more collaborative to how you guys also thought the Curtis gang childhoods went!

Maze Runner AU

Obviously an AU set in the Maze Runner universe, undetermined if this would be a crossover or just the characters in a similar setting, but the gang doesn't remember each other and they have to fight to survive and they'd all made their way back to each other and made a lot of new memories (some not so good) and there's some painful things in this one </3

Vampire / Werewolf AU

There are Vampires, there are Werewolves, and there are humans! There are also ‘wisp people’ who can create little orbs of light like Will o'Wisps! Another fantasy / creature au that I really liked. Poor Ponyboy sorta goes through it in this one in my opinion.

The Outsiders: Homestead AU (aka the RDR2 AU :D)

The Basics

The year is 1899 in New Hanover. The Curtis family lives on a homestead outside of the town of Valentine, where they raise cows and chickens. They also tend to a small grain field, but ever since their parents' wagon was struck by an oncoming train the family has struggled to get by financially.

Darry Curtis

The oldest member of the Curtis family and the inheritor of their homestead. It's his job to tend to the crops and the animals and to support his brothers. He works when he can on building projects in the expanding town of Valentine, or wherever else he can find employment.

Sodapop Curtis

The middle child of the Curtis family. Popular with the girls in town; works at the livery taking care of horses with his best friend Steve Randle. Sometimes works seasonally at Emerald Ranch.

Ponyboy Curtis

The baby of the Curtis family. Spends most of his time wandering out in the woods, finding things to draw or write about. This boy gives Darry gray hairs just as much as in the normal universe 💀

Steve

Soda's dumb best friend from the livery. He doesn't have the best relationship w/ his dad so he basically lives in the barn at the homestead. He's pretty strong so he helps Darry build things sometimes *cue housebuilding song*

Two-bit Matthews and Dallas Winston

Soda met Two-bit one night at the Emerald Ranch saloon's poker table. He worked there seasonally as well, and they met again at the Valentine saloon a few months later after Two-bit got a job closer to the town. He's known for being a lazy drunk and a gambler, but when the Curtises need extra help on the homestead he's always there. He has a soft spot for Soda and Pony.

Soda also met Dallas Winston in the saloon; he had come to Valentine in search for bounties. He's an ex horse thief and gunslinger. Soda was able to convince him to stay at the Curtis homestead. Dally helps with chores around the farm, and watches over the animals at night.

Johnny Cade

A quiet boy Pony met at school. His parents kicked him out when he was 13 years old, so he lives at the homestead with the Curtises and Dally and helps with chores.

So I’ve been thinking about my Outsiders Percy Jackson AU and I’d thought I’d go into depth on why I chose the cabins I chose for each greaser

Let’s start with my boy Pony, 🐴 ☀️

My initial thought with Ponyboy was definitely Athena because Pony’s really smart. But thinking about it more it doesn’t make much sense for him. Sure he’s smart but Athena’s main thing is strategy, something Pony lacks. We see in the book that he’s told countless times to use his head, something a child of Athena would have down pat.

I then settled on Apollo. For one, Ponyboy loves sunsets and sunrises which could give him that connection to his godly parent. Poetry is a big one too since we see in the book that Ponyboy memorizes poems.(Nothing gold can stay) Art is another one they both have relation too. It also says in the book that he’s the best shot in his family, which could relate to the archery aspect of it. I also feel like Pony is like the sun in the sense he’s meant to shine. He’s been told he’s meant for better places than Tulsa. The sun could also relate to his overall wish of just being free.

(This might not make any sense but it’s my thought process lol)

genuinely so crazy to think what could have happened if johnny had just flowed two bit that night like. WHAT. cuz pony definitely would have still ran away if the fight between him and darry happened and his ass would have died like!! what!!!!

on the other end of the spectrum, to think about what could have happened if pony didnt get in the fight with darry and didnt meet up with johnny. bc the socs were just driving around greaser territory they could have stumbled upon johnny alone in the lot and IMAGINE what could have happened to him there. either he could have not pulled the knife in time and died to the socs, OR he could have killed one of them, gone to dally, and have went to windrixville completely alone. imagine what pony would have went through if that had happened
