Sodapop in a Hunger Games AU is plaguing me and now I have ideas

Ponyboy’s name is called during the reaping, and while panicking, Sodapop volunteers as tribute. Ponyboy cries and it’s Steve pulling him away from the reaping and Darry is devastated, because no one expects Sodapop to survive, which is devastating for District 12 (yes I'm using the districts, but I don’t particularly care for the canon map? sorta?). The District loves Sodapop because of his Charisma and he’s genuinely so nice for being from the really poor side of town. The concept of Socs and Greasers still exists, but the District all gave him a salute with bowed heads.

During the ‘goodbyes’ Ponyboy clings to Sodapop while crying (he’s 13 and his favorite big brother is being sent to his death), Darry also cries and the three of them hug for the entire 5 minutes, and Sodapop cries after his brothers are told they have to leave. Darry carries Ponyboy who just… collapsed and cried. Steve visits next and just holds Sodapop while Soda cries, quiet plea’s to look out for Ponyboy as best he can. Steve just holds him while silently crying. Steve gives him his ‘RANDLE’ ring and Sodapop cries a little more. Sandy also comes to see him… and breaks up with him right before he has to leave. Sodapop is devastated.

Headcanon: Steve has a few specific rings that everyone in the district just know belong to him, he has three or four of them.

Sodapop has no clue who the girl is that came with him, he didn’t know her, nor did he recognize her, though she was around his age. Sodapop is stuck in his head, mine running through the memory of volunteering and just being relieved that he’d saved his kid brother from the games. And, to make matters hurt more, Two-Bit is their mentor. Two-Bit is determined to get his friend home, because he did not want to return to District 12 if he failed.

Sodapop’s leg ends up really hurt at some point, specifically in his left leg, and he develops a limp and his speed is cut down by a lot. He very nearly dies, but he’d gained an ally that had gotten him medicine and protected him. Said ally killed himself at the end of the games, and Sodapop was quite a bit depressed by this, despite knowing that they would have had to fight each other to the death. Sodapop had to kill the last remaining tributes and he very nearly doesn’t succeed.

Sodapop ends up winning the games, though he’d somehow angered the Capitol in the process and he doesn’t know how. Two-Bit doesn’t know how either, which is concerning, but the two of them return to District 12 and Sodapop is almost literally knocked off his feet when Ponyboy sees him. Two-Bit laughed as he caught and steadied the sudden duo. Ponyboy cried a lot, and Darry wrapped both of his baby brothers in a tight hug. In fact, the entire gang hugged, uncaring of who was watching.

The Reaping

So... I wrote a thing... Hope you all enjoy! Tell me what you think too! Who's POV do ya'll wanna see next?

Ponyboy grumbled to himself as he forced himself to keep his back straight, he couldn’t even stuff his hands in his pockets or cross his arms. He was dressed in his best clothes and he was surrounded by a bunch of kids his age for the annual reaping for the hunger games. It always made him anxious whenever the reaping came around. He probably had a reason to be this anxious, given that ever since Two-Bit, one of Ponyboy’s best friends, was reaped four years ago it felt like every year one of Ponyboy’s closest friends were reaped.

And this year, only he and Sodapop stood with the rest of the district teens and kids.

He took a deep breath, letting his hands hang limply at his sides as he resisted the urge to turn around to look for his older brother. He’d been told he wasn’t supposed to do that, he was 13 now.

Their mayor was standing up on the stage of the district building, a grim smile on his face. Ponyboy wondered if he was trying to reassure himself or the children standing in front of him, and one of the peacekeepers made some motion.

“Thank you everyone for coming,” Ponyboy fought off a scowl as their mayor stepped up to start talking. It wasn’t like he, like anyone, had a choice in being here. Ponyboy tilted his head to stare at the ground, he needed to to keep his face from scowling at their mayor.

He ignored most of what their mayor said, it wasn’t like it was any important to Ponyboy. It was just the history of how the hunger games had come to be, and why it was important that it happened every year.

How it was a reminder for everyone that the Capital was in control.

At least, that last thought was what Two-Bit had said. The games were just so that the districts knew that the capital had all the control. He’d been drunk that night, and Darry had sent Ponyboy to bed soon after that, not that Ponyboy actually got any sleep that night. Two-Bit had scared him that night, with his words and with how drunk he was. It was soon after Two-Bit’s games, and he hadn’t been coping well… or at least, that’s what Sodapop had said.

“And now, without further adieu, ladies first.” Ponyboy looked up, watching with sharp eyes as their Mayor turned, walking towards the left side of the stage where a glass bowl sat, filled with tiny slips of paper with all the names of the girls, aged twelve to eighteen.

Ponyboy’s hands felt cold, and no matter how many times he rubbed his thumb over his skin, they didn’t warm up. He clasped his hands behind his back, maybe they would warm up. He wished he could be next to Sodapop, his brother always knew how to warm Ponyboy’s hands up. It would also help ease some of the anxiety running through him, having his brother next to him.

Their mayor picked up a slip of paper from somewhere in the center of the bowl, not wasting any time. He walked back towards the microphone, unfolding the slip of paper without any preamble. Ponyboy watched his face fall and he wondered, briefly, if the mayor was close with her.

“Amelia Johnson.” Ponyboy didn’t know who that was, but a girl started to move as another girl started crying.

A girl with dark skin, that reminded Ponyboy of Johnny, and dark brown hair braided down her back was walking up towards the stage. She must have been fifteen or so. Ponyboy wondered who she was to the mayor, who already looked like he was mourning her. She was thin, maybe from the poorer side of the district, and she was small.

The mayor had shaken her hand when she reached him at the microphone, and there was a look of resignation on the girl's face. The girls were silent as ‘Amelia’ stared out at the crowd. Ponyboy was close enough that he could see that her eyes were a dark green.

“And now, for the boys.” Ponyboy’s heart was beating harshly in his chest, hard enough that it nearly actually hurt. His hands were still cold, and rubbing them together behind his back wasn’t helping any.

Their mayor grabbed a slip from the center of the bowl before moving back to the microphone.

“Ponyboy Curtis.” Ponyboy’s heart stopped.

Around him, he could hear people talking, and it took someone touching his arm for him to realize that his name had been repeated. He turned, noticing that the crowd had parted a little, and he was beginning to walk towards the aisle to walk up towards the stage.

He removed his hands from behind his back as he started down the aisle, his heart was racing in his chest again.

“I VOLUNTEER! I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE!” Ponyboy spun around at the sound of his brother’s voice, eyes widening as Sodapop ran out into the aisle, eyes wide with fear and shaking hands thrown out at his sides.

“No… No Soda, no…” Ponyboy was shaking his head, and everyone around them was talking. Murmurs passed around as their mayor exclaimed in shock something that he didn’t hear. He was too focused on his brother, who was running down the aisle towards him.

“Pony, go to Darry,” Sodapop told him, when he was close enough.

“No… NO!” Ponyboy had moved and had wrapped his arms around his brother, but his brother wasn’t letting him and someone was grabbing his arms and pulling him away. “No!” Ponyboy shouted, his legs kicking out as his brother turned and continued towards the stage. His stride was strong, but Ponyboy could see that his brother’s hands were shaking.

Sodapop didn’t know what he was doing.

“No! NO! Let me go!” Ponyboy kicked out again, and arms tightened around him. 

“Ponyboy, shut up.” A hand covered his mouth and Ponyboy kicked backwards as Steve tightened his hold. “Little shit.” Steve exclaimed in pain; Ponyboy didn’t care. What he cared about was that his brother had just volunteered to go into the games, and Ponyboy didn’t know what to do. He didn’t know what to think. He wanted his brother. Ponyboy wanted his brother and Steve was still carrying him away, and they were in the crowd of spectators now, and Ponyboy couldn’t see Sodapop anymore.

For your Wretched AU

What is the gangs favorite things to do? Together and separated / with their best friends?

Ooh good question!

Pony and Johnny like flying over Tulsa together-it’s pretty fun for them and it’s a way for them to both defuse, just soaring over the clouds, away from humans and away from everyone else. They also watch the sun set over the clouds and it’s so incredibly amazing to them. Another thing is since Johnny is dream bound, on occasion he’ll enter Pony’s dreams and try to make things better in there. It’s painful for him to do so and he can’t do it every night, but most nights he does and he manages to repair Pony’s dreams

Pony and Soda both are able to run super fast (I dunno, “speed of light”, Pony being light bound, Soda being electric bound…) so they just like to have races and contests to see who can run the fastest between two areas lol

I���m very big on the “Dally and Darry best friends” train, and Darry and Dally are both huge, being half gryphon and half dragon respectively, so sometimes they just prowl around at night and go for walks. Darry has to restrain Dally from going on rampages and stuff but it’s not that hard. Dally also makes glass sheets and Darry makes stuff out of them. Darry sold one once and split the money with Dally-that’s how he got his second job as a glass blower

Ace and Steve (my beloveds 😭🫶🏻) are twins in this AU and are metal bound-but all metal bound either specialize in electricity regulation or heat regulation. They both work at the DX together with Soda, and Steve is based off the Brazen Bull, so he can melt and meld blocks of metal and make things out of them-so he makes car parts and Ace helps to jumpstart and repair cars because she conducts electricity, and if Soda were to do it himself he’d blow up the car probably-so she takes small voltages off of him to help jumpstart cars

Two Bit and his little sister Kit are both imps-but how some imps are based off goats? Two kinda is based off a hyena and his sister is based off a coyote. Two sometimes takes her out-he had to teach her how to fly, and that was interesting. He literally threw her off a building expecting her to “let instinct take over” but he had to swoop down and save her lmfao

The Curtis brothers loveeee snuggling. Since Darry’s so big and is fire bound, he ends up being the one they all snuggle into. He can also heat his body up significantly so he jsut heats himself up and Pony/Soda snuggle into him. Buncha cuties lol-

"STOP, PLEASE STOP! HE'S JUST A KID!" Ponyboy shouted as they ran towards the sound of gunfire, nearly tripping as they tried to stop Dally's attempt... They arrived too late, only to see him fall to his knees.

The sound of his gasping breaths mixed with the sound of him choking on his own blood and painting the snow red in his wake was deafening. "HE WAS JUST A KID!" A shrill scream sounded from the middle of the group as you ran forward, nearly slipping on the ice and snow that coated the road.

"HE WAS JUST A KID!!" You shouted again as you slid towards Dally and covered his body, getting shot yourself when a cop shot one last round. It connected with your lungs, popping both of them.

You looked at Dally, blood starting to pool in your mouth, fresh snow starting to fall just as it did during the rumble. "Dallas..." You coughed softly, blood splattering against the white snow, tainting it before it was covered up by more.

"Dallas... Why...?" He didn't answer as he looked at you, watching as the color drained from your face. "Was me and Pone not enough...?" Your eyes started to feel heavy, almost closing shut after your question.

He nodded his head as he put a hand on top of yours, looking up at Ponyboy... His eyes were filled with pain and regret. "Pony..." He whispered as his eyes fell closed shortly after he said the name of his friend, yours falling closed in eternal sleep shortly after his.

"Pony... We found something around the back of the tree, It's got your name on it..." Sodapop said, pulling Ponyboy out of his mind. The memory of that night still weighed heavy on his mind, why wouldn't it? He lost his 2 best friends and the only stable mother figure in his life after his own met her end on the tracks.

Pony looked up from his drink and raised an eyebrow before motioning for Soda to hand it to him. Soda looked at Darry for a moment before handing the little package to Ponyboy.

Labeled in neat handwrititng was a simple tag: "To Ponyboy... From Dally, Dolly, and Johnny". Ponyboy frowned softly as he stared at the tag. He then gently opened the gift, making sure to not rip the tag.

Inside was a jean jacket and a note. The jacket looked just like Johnny's and it smelled almost like Dally's colonge. He picked it up and gently put it on, seeing the bottle of colonge at the bottom of the box. Probably stolen as Dally always did steal his gifts.

Pony eyed the letter, trying to decide if it was okay to open it, or if he even wanted to open it given what had happened just a few weeks before. He shook his head and grabbed the note, tearing it open to see what was written in the note.

"Dear Ponyboy, Merry Christmas. Me, Dally, and Johnny pooled our money together to get you a good gift. This year we noticed that you always looked at Johnny's jacket and commented about getting it some patches. Well, we decided to get you your own so you can put as many patches on it as you want it, so enjoy it. Be good for your brothers, enjoy the season, we'll always be here for you. Sincerely yours, Dally, Dolly, and Johnny."

It was ironic... Truly, it was ironic. 3 friends got him something nice for Christmas, 3 close friends died on the same night, 3 familial friends weren't here to see. It was like an extra knife in the heart, a grim reminder about what he lost in the span of a few hours.

"Merry Christmas, Ponyboy... Merry fucking Christmas indeed..." Ponyboy whispered to himself as he leaned back against the couch, closing his eyes as he got lost in thought again.

omg I'm in love with your hunger games au. how do an of the gang's Victors behave while in the capitol for their respective games? like how do their interviews and trainings go?

!!! I’m vibrating /pos so happy people love this au!

I’ll go through the Victor’s one by one with the thought of it just being the interviews and trainings because I have the intent of writing out how they each fared in the games (have I posted Dally’s yet? Or is that one still saved away yet? I think it’s still queued).

But here we go!

Two-Bit

Two-Bit is naturally a jokester, and this did not start after the games! He was 13/14 years old when he entered the games. He had the crowd laughing, at himself and at themselves, during his interview. People thought he was hilarious, even if they saw this, at the time, scrawny little kid and thought he was going to die the minute that the games started. He had fans in the capitol, especially since he had a more ‘youthful’ness to him. It caught interest and that interest spread.

Two-Bit made himself out to be this ‘happy go lucky kid that wasn’t scared’, a little trap for the other Tributes who all laughed at him during his trainings. Two-Bit was absolutely not the best with any sort of weapons, however he was smart, he was intelligent, he knew how to look out for danger and he knew how to get people to let down their guards. Nevermind he was also incredibly good at stealing. He was fast too, which was his only true advantage in his arena (more on all the arenas coming soon).

Dally

Dally’s interviews had a lot of questions about why he’d left District 7 and ‘moved’ (read: ran away) to District 12. Dally’s only answer was ‘family’. He left because of family and he ‘moved’ to District 12 because of family. He wouldn’t elaborate, and it ended up making him into something of a mystery that the capitol citizens wanted to know more about. Him being 14 at the time only made that more so. But Dally, having only been in District 12 for like, 4 or 5 months, really didn’t know what made him want to stay in 12, so he made himself act aloof the entire time. Other Tributes didn’t… like that. He very narrowly avoided getting beat up before the games.

His trainings were pretty uneventful, and people avoided him for the most part. He was decent at throwing knives, but he much preferred the ax. He had to make it seem like he was hesitant to try different weapons, and yes, his little psychological war on the other tributes helped him win the games. He found he was pretty decent with a bow and arrow too.

Steve

Steve made himself out to be a cocky asshole during his interviews. He did that on purpose so that it looked like he was ‘untouchable’, advice given to him by both Dally and Two-Bit. He had a natural strength to him from working for the last four years. At 15 he’d had plenty of practice lifting incredibly heavy things from being in the working side of the District, and he and Sodapop used to see who could lift/throw the heaviest things. Both of them had pulled or strained something nearly monthly, more so Steve than Sodapop because Steve was 100 percent showing off a little… He did mention having a best friend and having a girlfriend (Sodapop and Evie) and he had no intentions of leaving them behind. He would make it home.

His trainings had people watching him like a hawk, trying to pick him apart as they watched and analyzed him. They spent so much time watching him, trying to find his weaknesses, that the other tributes barely trained, or at least didn’t train as well as they should have. He was incredibly good at throwing knives, however he was also pretty good with an axe since the gang had started ‘training’ once Dally got back from his games. Two-Bit was a tiny bit paranoid and that was a good thing.

Johnny

Johnny was a nervous wreck during his interviews, he was 15 years old and honestly thinking that he was going to die. He cried during two of his interviews and a lot of the tributes genuinely thought he wasn’t a threat because he was ‘weak’. Johnny talked of their friend group a little, and it was obvious that he was particularly close with Dally and the ‘unnamed youngest’ of their group. The capitol citizens ate up the ‘middle brother’ role that Johnny portrayed. Or, no, they ate up the ‘little brother’ role that Johnny portrayed when talking about his relations with the rest of the gang, but they loved his ‘big brother’ role with the unnamed youngest (Ponyboy).

Trainings had Johnny throwing knives (yes, the gang has a theme of using throwing knives) though he wasn’t the best at throwing knives. Johnny was actually much better at hand to hand combat, not that anyone finds that out until way way later in the games. Johnny also tries his hand at the bow and arrow and ends up accidentally making a fool of himself. Which was probably for the best. He was also found to be incredibly fast (a huge advantage) during his trainings.

Sodapop (a little more on Sodapop)

Sodapop! Poor little guy. His charisma has him winning over the capitol citizens with how much genuine emotion comes from him. He teared up when talking about his brothers, and he laughed when talking about Steve and Dally, and there was excitement and energy when talking about Two-Bit and all the of the gang’s (legal) shenanigans from when they were children when asked about it. He gets all mushy when it’s mentioned that Steve had given Sodapop his ‘RANDLE’ ring and it comes out that Sodapop and him also had matching friendship rings, of which he was wearing still (he had both rings on a necklace so that they counted as ‘one item’, it barely passed as acceptable). Sodapop genuinely cried when asked about his parents, and how Ponyboy (the now named ‘unnamed youngest’ from Johnny’s games) had nightmares about it, and he was so young. Sodapop is 100% a Peeta and he plays the Capitol.

His trainings have people sizing him up, people having finally begun to realize that something wasn’t right about an entire friend group getting reaped, even if Sodapop wasn’t initially drawn he and Ponyboy were still part of the same exact friend group. He lets himself show off his ability with a Bow and Arrow (what he’s best at), and that he knows how to fight hand to hand (but he doesn't show his strength). It’s very clear he’s not a pushover, but he is also so kind and helps some people figure out their best skills for the games.

And we don’t talk about what happens in Ponyboy’s games (yet).

Godly Parents - Curtis Gang

The Curtis brothers are children of Aphrodite

This is not to say that Mr. or Mrs. Curtis cheated on the other. They actually got curious and exploratory (and a little hopeful several times) and Aphrodite thought they were a cute couple. The brothers are, for the most part, half siblings. Darry is Mr. Curtis and Aphrodite's, Sodapop is Mrs. Curtis and Aphrodite's, and it was difficult to pin point which combination Ponyboy was (he has three parents, Aphrodite got curious herself)

Steve is a son of Hephaestus

Steve's mom did cheat on her husband, but that wasnt known until Steve was seven years old. The guilt ate her up and she spilled that information when drunk while night and Steve's step father went from kind and caring and nurturing to an abusive drink. Steve never knew the reason why until he found out he was a demigod. He never knew what to think of his childhood after that, and actually tried to ignore it the best he can.

Dally is a son of Nemesis

I thought that either Hecate or Nemesis fit Dally, and while I really wanted older brother Dally, I also thought it would be better as a bond as well. Nemesis is the goddess of revenge. He doesn't talk about his biological family much, and he never leaves camp unless it's for a quest, before he met the gang at least. After he met the gang he found himself living in Tulsa with the Curtis family before he was taken in by Buck (who isn't a demigod but a clear sighted mortal but once had a demigod child named Rocky).

Two-Bit is a son of Dionysus

Two-Bit can't get drunk. He acts drunk all the time but that's both his personality and because sometimes his powers gonna little wacky and it gives him the feeling of being drunk. Absolutely in love with Marcia and has been since he was fourteen, doesn't think he has a shot with her. Absolutely protective of the youngest gang members, both in camp and outside of camp. He, Dally, and Tim often go on spontaneous quests for the hell of it. He'll bring back trinkets and stuff he thinks that gang would like.

Johnny is a son of Hecate

He sometimes twists the mist to make himself invisible to everyone but the gang, or hides in the shadows when he's particularly nervous. He isn't sure which mortal parent is his, but he suspects his father. He was so scared to show up at camp until he realized Ponyboy was there, and cling to his side as much as he could. He settled into camp pretty quickly until after his jumping, where he then never really left the gang's side. He's really good at most manipulation and spelling casting.

Reactions (Adopted Curtis AU)

Darry is shell shocked, upon learning that Ponyboy was adopted. He had no clue, or memory, of Ponyboy ever being adopted (Darry was also 6, of course he wouldn’t really remember). He is absolutely terrified of Ponyboy being taken away, though, because Ponyboy wouldn’t ever get the chance to come back, unless he still hung around with the gang. He finds out days before the rest of the gang, and that night, he holds both of his brothers close, reassuring them that he was always going to be there, no matter what happened. After everyone learns that Ponyboy was adopted, Sodapop accuses Darry of knowing, and Darry tells him he found out a few days prior. Sodapop only cries harder because it wasn’t Darry that told them.

Two-Bit didn’t feel as surprised as the rest of the gang, having had suspicions whenever Ponyboy got sick, or how Ponyboy didn’t seem to look like either Curtis' parent. He didn’t care, it didn’t bother him, it was just a curious thought he played with on occasion. He realized that it was a bigger deal than he thought when Ponyboy shut down in a sense. He found that everyone was acting as if this was the end of the world and as if Ponyboy was going to be taken away forever. He was confused, because Ponyboy was raised as a Curtis, why would they take him away? It’s only when they genuinely tried that Two-Bit felt a fleeting bit of Fear. He saw Ponyboy as a younger brother too, and he didn’t want to lose that.

Dally felt numb, in a sense. This wasn’t something that affected him too heavily, but he understood why it affected the others. He felt like he was just there, watching everyone else panic that they would lose Ponyboy. He had trust in Darry that they wouldn’t lose Ponyboy; though he could have dealt without Ponyboy and Johnny both clinging to him to some degree. He’d found himself having to be the one to cheer up Ponyboy, which he defaulted to taking Ponyboy to the movies with Johnny, an indoors one, given that it was the middle of winter, and he suffered through a few sunsets with Ponyboy and Johnny. (Dally will never admit to feeling like an older brother again)

Steve felt confused. Steve was confused and frustrated because he didn’t understand. To him, things were black and white, in a sense. Ponyboy was Sodapop’s kid brother, and that was that. He didn’t understand anyone trying to tell him that it was different to any degree. He understood what being adopted meant, obviously, but he couldn’t associate or connect that to Ponyboy being adopted, it wasn’t making sense, which upset him. He ignored his own emotions, however, to try help Sodapop, who had a new fear of losing his kid brother. Steve didn’t understand, but he knew he had to be there for Sodapop, who felt too many things (compared to Steve’s nearly nothing at all). He found himself a little distant with Ponyboy though, as he tried to comprehend his own thoughts and emotions so that he didn’t lash out at anyone.

Sodapop felt fear, confusion, and distress. He was definitely surprised that Ponyboy was adopted, he’d always thought that Ponyboy had a resemblance to their mother, though with hints of their father, but to learn that this wasn’t the case uprooted everything Sodapop had thought was right / real. He’d also felt anger, because Darry had been acting weirdly the few days before they all found out, and he’d lashed out at Darry for knowing, and he cries hard when he learns that Darry had found out a few days prior. He refused to let Darry come near him; he’d run off to find Steve, who was hanging out with Two-Bit (it was way later in the day), and the two of them had never seen Sodapop more pissed off or upset.

Johnny was confused. He knew, in the most basic of terms, what it meant to be adopted. Like Steve, he had trouble associating that term with Ponyboy. He’d put together, long ago, that Ponyboy didn’t look like either of his parents like Darry or Sodapop did. He found himself more quiet, though he stuck close to Ponyboy’s side, worried about him. And he would push Ponyboy into accepting what (reluctant) comfort Dally could provide. Johnny would in fact tease Dally about being more protective of him and Ponyboy after the whole ordeal of finding out. He also wasn’t surprised by the rest of the gang’s reactions (he took note because he knew Ponyboy, when he came back to himself, would want to know).

Ponyboy disassociated (not that they had a term for that yet). He ‘shut down’ in the sense of, he stopped talking. He stopped communicating, and he stopped reacting. He’d just come out of doing that from their parents death (were they still his parents? Ponyboy didn’t know), and now he’d fallen right back into it. He knew, vaguely, that Johnny never left his side. He remembered a vague fight between Sodapop and Darry (he had a fleeting thought that Darry wanted to leave Ponyboy to the states and Sodapop got pissed about it), he remembered Sodapop comforting him after nightmares (Darry wasn’t anywhere around, he remembered). But, to him, it felt like he absolutely couldn’t respond no matter how hard he tried. It was only him clinging to Sodapop that even told Sodapop that Ponyboy was even remotely aware of anything. It was his only reaction (other than when Dally got him to the movies, he remembered and processed and reacted a little better there). He definitely gained a fear of abandonment.

I just wanted to know, how do you think that would change the way the gang, his brothers would see him? Like how would that change their dynamics?

I sort of imagine that Ponyboy is about 4 years younger than in canon, and he's a little clingy to his brothers. Especially Darry, though he is often found at Sodapop's side on darker or harder to handle days.

The gang would absolutely be more protective and worried about Ponyboy whenever he is by himself, and he's obviously not in highschool he's more late elementary school / early middle school.

Johnny is more 'big brother' to Ponyboy than canon (it's more emphasized), and he lets Ponyboy talk about all these books and movies, and the sunsets even more than in canon (Ponyboy still gets jumped, and Johnny freaks the fuck out a little bit more).

He's a little more childish, he lashes out a bit more when things don't make sense, and he absolutely doens't like Steve but more of a "why do you keep taking my brother from me" dislike rather than a genuine beefing with the other that Ponyboy hints at in canon. Steve also cannot bring himself to dislike that Ponyboy is so clingy with Sodapop, because he knows about Ponyboy's nightmares.

Which! Ponyboy's nightmares are a worse than canon. He'll have nights he wakes up screaming, and nights that he wakes up and just... stares. He'll space out and he will absolutely not respond no matter what is happening around him, but he is sitting up and breathing, and it's obvious he can hear you, he's just not responding. It's also obvious whenever he's had a night of nightmares (anywhere between 1 to 3 a night), because he'll be really quiet and sleepy the day after. (He also clings to Darry more, and he genuinely cries whenever Sodapop has to go to work.

Dally isn't as 'cold' or 'mean' to Ponyboy, but he still intimidates Ponyboy with out he interacts with others. Ponyboy gets more Johnny treatment than in canon! That's how I think about it, where Ponyboy could say just about anything and Dally wouldn't care, and Dally gets Ponyboy little things that he thinks Pony will like!

Two-Bit likes to watch Ponyboy on days where he decides to skip (Darry doens't like it but he also does because it means Ponyboy isn't home alone on days he's out of school or sick), and they like to play a whole bunch of games and they go out and 'cause mischief' (they go to the park and have fun and they go and buy art supplies because Pony still adores art, and they like to go hiking, which Darry doesn't know about the hiking).

Baby Curtis (Teen Dad AU)

Her name is Kimberly <3

The baby girl was left on the doorstep of the Curtis household on December 14th, three days after she was born. She screamed and cried for only a few minutes from the cold before the Curtis brothers were throwing open the door and finding her. Sandy had written a letter, letting them know her name was ‘Kimberly Marie’ and that she was Sodapop’s baby… and that she was breaking up with Sodapop and moving away.

Sodapop takes to calling her ‘Kimmie/Kimmy’ while Darry calls her Kimberly. Ponyboy is a mix between the two. Darry does make sure that Sodapop got a paternity test done, and signed the papers on Kimberly.

She has gray eyes, and surprisingly, blonde hair with red tints. She’s a tiny little thing, and the gang are all smitten by her nearly instantly. She loves being held by Sodapop the most, though is also perfectly content in Ponyboy’s, Darry’s, or Johnny’s arms too. She isn’t sure what to make of Steve, it’s a 50/50 on if she’ll cry just looking at him or cry until he picks her up. She doesn’t mind Two-Bit holding her, it’s just not her favorite place to be. She also isn’t sure what to make of Dally.

Sodapop ended up cleaning out his old room, fixing anything that needed to be fixed and moved back in during the first week of having Kimberly. No need to wake Ponyboy up throughout the night because of a crying baby. And Ponyboy hadn’t had a nightmare in two months, so they figured it would be okay to move rooms again (Ponyboy just jumped at the opportunity to convince Johnny to stop sleeping in the lot).

Adopted Curtis AU

Going with the idea that Darry had to fight extra hard to keep Ponyboy, Ponyboy has his doubts about Darry hating him. Especially because, Ponyboy wasn’t even actually his brother (Ponyboy’s thoughts, not genuine words), he feels like Darry is extra hard on him, however, and he misses when they didn’t know that Ponyboy was adopted. He misses when they would laugh and giggle over things together, or when Darry and him would play football with the gang. And he feels like sometimes Sodapop… is distant with him (his own perception). He feels distant with himself, often like he wasn’t who he actually was.

Darry absolutely hits him with the “You’re a curtis, aren’t you?” at some point, and it really shocks Ponyboy down to his core, because no, to him he isn’t a Curtis. He’s adopted, not related by blood. To Ponyboy, that makes him not a Curtis brother. Sodapop ends up figuring this out, and holds Ponyboy, reassuring him that he is a Curtis, that he is their brother. Shared blood or not, that wouldn’t ever change.

The Gang's Reactions (Teen Dad AU)

Darry

Darry is both shocked and not shocked. He knew that Sodapop was mad for Sandy, having proclaimed that he wanted to marry her one day. It didn’t surprise him that Sandy had gotten pregnant, and it didn’t surprise him when it was Sodapop’s… was he upset about this? Absolutely he was. He actually yelled at Sodapop (when Ponyboy decided that Kimberly, him, and Johnny needed to go to the store and Dally and Two-Bit decided to go with… Thinking back, Darry thought that Ponyboy could feel the tension between Darry and Sodapop and decided to bail and take Kimberly with him). Darry absolutely adores Kimberly though, and while he silently thinks that Sodapop had thrown his life away by accidentally getting Sandy pregnant. He also hates that Sandy abandoned Sodapop with baby Kimberly… he loves Kimberly though, she’s such a sweet little thing and a surprisingly easy baby. He also has to sometimes stop and just watch because it almost felt like Sodapop had matured overnight, or more so right in front of his eyes. Sodapop may not have known that Sandy had been pregnant, or why she had just… left afterwards without much more of an explanation, nevermind not even saying any of it to his brother’s face, but he really took to taking care of Kimberly. Darry was also surprised at how Sodapop just soaked up all the information and advice that he had to give.

Two-Bit

Two-Bit would be the first to admit out loud that he thought that he himself would be the first with a kid. It wouldn’t have surprised him, and when he did say this, voice sounding like he was joking even though he was fully serious, the gang laughed. He is the first outside of the Curtis brothers to hold her, cooing at her and tickling her sides a little bit as everyone talked. Johnny was sticking to his side, also cooing over Kimberly. Ten minutes later she was crying ‘cause she wanted her dad again, and Two-Bit handed her over quickly, scared that he’d hurt her somehow. He didn’t, and was quickly reassured that she just really likes being held by Sodapop. He has a deep seated fear of being like his father; and he resolves to stop drinking for Kimberly and the gang. He makes that decision seeing how happy Kimberly was in her dad’s arms; and wasn’t that a thought. Sodapop a dad. Two-Bit was struggling with the thought of it, despite looking at the scene in front of him. He vowed to always do his best so that he could at least attempt to be a good role model for Kimberly (even if she would have good models in Darry, and Pony, and Johnny, and Steve too… maybe).

Dally

Dally had to actually stop and stare at the baby in Sodapop’s arms for a hot minute, trying to connect the fact that the baby was Sodapop’s and not just some prank being pulled. The eyebags under the three brother’s eyes told him that it was very much not a prank being pulled on him. He had bets on Two-Bit being the first one of them to be a parent given how often he claims to have brought a broad home. Maybe Steve, since he’d heard that Evie had been more ‘touchy’ with Steve within the last few months, courtesy of Sodapop for telling him that. He also wasn’t sure what to think of the tiny infant, and freaked out the first time he’d held her. He’d been talking with Johnny, and Dally is pretty sure that Sodapop was trying to hand her to Johnny or Ponyboy because of a panic about having to get ready for work, and she’d ended up in Dally’s arms instead. He’d panicked and froze for a good second before he snapped to attention and readjusted his hold on her so that she was more comfortable. Sodapop came back out once he was ready for work and was so apologetic… Sodapop went to work without little Kimberly, because Dally would not give her back.

Steve

Steve… wasn’t sure what to think. He’d shut down when he first found out that Sandy had been pregnant, but he’d also known that Sandy was cheating on Sodapop, courtesy of Evie finding out and telling him. He wasn’t sure that the baby was Sodapop’s. He didn’t say anything, but he stayed quiet and kept his distance. He could see the pain in Sodapop’s eyes, could feel himself hurting by not being there next to Sodapop, or even attempting to hold Kimberly. At some point he’d slipped out without really being noticed. He stormed off in anger only when he was far enough from the house, going to find Evie to ask the chances of the baby being Sodapop’s. He stays away from the Curtis house for a few days, trying to sort out his own thoughts and feelings, he’d even avoided Sodapop while at work as much as it pained him to do so. It took him a while to realize he was scared of losing Sodapop, and that the fear stemmed from Sodapop having to be a single dad (even if he had his brothers and the gang). He ends up going to Sodapop, who had brought Kimberly to work with him that day, and pulled them into the breakroom and word vomiting to Sodapop. They both cried. Kimberly cried. Steve held her for the first time, and… yeah, he was as smitten with the little girl as much as Sodapop was.

Johnny

Johnny was surprised that out of everyone, it was Sodapop that got a girl pregnant first. Johnny had bets on Steve or Two-Bit, like Dally. Not that the two ever voiced those bets to anyone or anywhere but their own minds. He thought Kimberly was adorable, and he was often wanting to hold her while the rest of the boys were doing anything because he couldn’t really join them; him being in a wheelchair and all. Kimberly loves laying in his arms sometimes, because Johnny didn’t need to move much; Ponyboy and Dally were always willing to push his chair so that his arms were free to let him do whatever he wanted. Johnny thinks Kimberly is adorable, and was the first person to get her a stuffed animal; a small yellow duck… though ‘small’ was small to him. It was nearly the same size as Kimberly (she was a tiny baby). He was also always willing to babysit her when winter break ended for Ponyboy, he’d been living at the Curtis house since he was released from the hospital, so that Sodapop could work like normal.

Ponyboy

Ponyboy wasn’t sure what to think about Sodapop getting ‘his girl’ pregnant, and was pissed when he found out that she left him and the little girl. Ponyboy wasn’t sure what to think of the baby either. He was pretty quiet the following couple days after Kimberly was left with them. Sodapop was honestly scared that Ponyboy was upset, he wasn’t, he just wasn’t sure what to think or how to feel. After a while, he gets used to Kimberly and her presence in the house and the shifted dynamics in the family. He also hides his nightmares from his brothers who are worried more about the infant and appointments for her at the hospital and how they were going to afford it; He and Johnny went and got secret jobs at a bookstore, it was accessible for Johnny and Ponyboy loves books, so that they (Ponyboy) could help with necessities. (Sodapop cried because he didn’t want that for Ponyboy, and Darry made Ponyboy swear that he wasn’t using more than half a paycheck to help them) Ponyboy also likes drawing Johnny in his chair holding Kimberly.

Stardew valley has flooded my timeline and now all I can see in my mind is Darry working on a farm while Sodapop's running around town and Pony's solving the mysteries and mouthing off to people he really shouldn't be.

Dally is in the mines with Johnny cause Johnny didn't want to go alone, and Steve's running around with Sodapop and Two-Bits fishing.

Am I aware that Stardew is primarily single player (mobile at least)? Yes. Do I particularly care? Absolutely not, hahaa.

i know it’s probs not part of your au or plans for darry but like IMAGINE if darry was the only one of them to not make it out of his games. the gang has to watch him die in the games where the odds were never once in his favor, stacked too high from the beginning, knowing that he just paid the price for the capitol not being able to kill the others when they had the chance

and that’s what kicks off the revolution in district 12, like when rue died. because darry was one of the most respected guys in the district, someone who only ever cared for keeping his family safe. he was supposed to be spared from the games but they came for him anyway, and now no one is safe

again though these are just thoughts lol don’t take them serious🙏 i love your au it’s so amazing!!

That... I love that. I'd just been talking about yesterday how I struggle killing any of my characters off but wanting to learn how too... Oh Sodapop and Ponyboy would be leading that revolution on two different fronts...

But I also bring to you... They only think they know that Darry's dead, and instead the Capitol does what they did to Peeta to Darry, and so when they find out he's alive they are ecstatic. They want to save and rescue him and bring him home, their new home because 12 is gone now, but then... Darry thinks they are threats, they need to be killed, Darry thinks he's still in the games.

It would take months before Darry is able to separate from what the Capitol did to him, but by then, Ponyboy doesn't even recognize his brother. Physically, yes, that's his brother... mentally? No. it's not. It would crush Sodapop. The rest of the gang would be distraught, and Darry is constantly spiraling to some degree, especially when he's able to focus in on his actual memories of his brothers and realized he'd hurt them.

Just something to think about, hehe

Also, I absolutely love that Darry would be one of the most respected in the district, just something so interesting to think about 12 caring more about the Curtis's / Curtis gang than the gang thought.

Limited life is the bad boys (jimmy joel grian) trio! It’s also my favourite one, tho to be fair I’ve only watched limited life (grian + Scott pov), double life (grian pov) and secret life (grian + Scott pov), but I’ve seen lots of clips/know things which means I’m definitely invested in this concept

Thank you for confirming it's Limited Life!! And it's very fair that it's your favorite! I don't recall much of it (I'll be watching as many POVs as I can for each season as I'm working on them), but I remember it being a good one! (all of them were good ones, hahaa, I love how everyone interacts and plays!)

I've watched every season through Grian's POV, though I absolutely loved Scott's Double Life and Last Life!! and I don't remember which season I've watched from Gem's, but I love Gem's POV regardless!!
