Baby Curtis (Teen Dad AU)

Her name is Kimberly <3

The baby girl was left on the doorstep of the Curtis household on December 14th, three days after she was born. She screamed and cried for only a few minutes from the cold before the Curtis brothers were throwing open the door and finding her. Sandy had written a letter, letting them know her name was ‘Kimberly Marie’ and that she was Sodapop’s baby… and that she was breaking up with Sodapop and moving away.

Sodapop takes to calling her ‘Kimmie/Kimmy’ while Darry calls her Kimberly. Ponyboy is a mix between the two. Darry does make sure that Sodapop got a paternity test done, and signed the papers on Kimberly.

She has gray eyes, and surprisingly, blonde hair with red tints. She’s a tiny little thing, and the gang are all smitten by her nearly instantly. She loves being held by Sodapop the most, though is also perfectly content in Ponyboy’s, Darry’s, or Johnny’s arms too. She isn’t sure what to make of Steve, it’s a 50/50 on if she’ll cry just looking at him or cry until he picks her up. She doesn’t mind Two-Bit holding her, it’s just not her favorite place to be. She also isn’t sure what to make of Dally.

Sodapop ended up cleaning out his old room, fixing anything that needed to be fixed and moved back in during the first week of having Kimberly. No need to wake Ponyboy up throughout the night because of a crying baby. And Ponyboy hadn’t had a nightmare in two months, so they figured it would be okay to move rooms again (Ponyboy just jumped at the opportunity to convince Johnny to stop sleeping in the lot).

What is the gangs favorite things to do? Together and separated / with their best friends?

Ooh good question!

Pony and Johnny like flying over Tulsa together-it’s pretty fun for them and it’s a way for them to both defuse, just soaring over the clouds, away from humans and away from everyone else. They also watch the sun set over the clouds and it’s so incredibly amazing to them. Another thing is since Johnny is dream bound, on occasion he’ll enter Pony’s dreams and try to make things better in there. It’s painful for him to do so and he can’t do it every night, but most nights he does and he manages to repair Pony’s dreams

Pony and Soda both are able to run super fast (I dunno, “speed of light”, Pony being light bound, Soda being electric bound…) so they just like to have races and contests to see who can run the fastest between two areas lol

I’m very big on the “Dally and Darry best friends” train, and Darry and Dally are both huge, being half gryphon and half dragon respectively, so sometimes they just prowl around at night and go for walks. Darry has to restrain Dally from going on rampages and stuff but it’s not that hard. Dally also makes glass sheets and Darry makes stuff out of them. Darry sold one once and split the money with Dally-that’s how he got his second job as a glass blower

Ace and Steve (my beloveds 😭🫶🏻) are twins in this AU and are metal bound-but all metal bound either specialize in electricity regulation or heat regulation. They both work at the DX together with Soda, and Steve is based off the Brazen Bull, so he can melt and meld blocks of metal and make things out of them-so he makes car parts and Ace helps to jumpstart and repair cars because she conducts electricity, and if Soda were to do it himself he’d blow up the car probably-so she takes small voltages off of him to help jumpstart cars

Two Bit and his little sister Kit are both imps-but how some imps are based off goats? Two kinda is based off a hyena and his sister is based off a coyote. Two sometimes takes her out-he had to teach her how to fly, and that was interesting. He literally threw her off a building expecting her to “let instinct take over” but he had to swoop down and save her lmfao

The Curtis brothers loveeee snuggling. Since Darry’s so big and is fire bound, he ends up being the one they all snuggle into. He can also heat his body up significantly so he jsut heats himself up and Pony/Soda snuggle into him. Buncha cuties lol-

Hiya!! I was looking at your au list and saw one about Ponyboy being younger than he is in the canon, and I’m REALLY interested in that!

I just wanted to know, how do you think that would change the way the gang, his brothers would see him? Like how would that change their dynamics?

Also how much younger would he be?

I hope you don’t mind me asking, I just love this au idea and I’m real interested! (Btw I read some of the other aus you’ve made and OMG you’re so amazing! I love them 🩵)

Yess!!!! My inbox is open for a reason! for all AUs! and questions! and headcanons!

I sort of imagine that Ponyboy is about 4 years younger than in canon, and he's a little clingy to his brothers. Especially Darry, though he is often found at Sodapop's side on darker or harder to handle days.

The gang would absolutely be more protective and worried about Ponyboy whenever he is by himself, and he's obviously not in highschool he's more late elementary school / early middle school.

Johnny is more 'big brother' to Ponyboy than canon (it's more emphasized), and he lets Ponyboy talk about all these books and movies, and the sunsets even more than in canon (Ponyboy still gets jumped, and Johnny freaks the fuck out a little bit more).

He's a little more childish, he lashes out a bit more when things don't make sense, and he absolutely doens't like Steve but more of a "why do you keep taking my brother from me" dislike rather than a genuine beefing with the other that Ponyboy hints at in canon. Steve also cannot bring himself to dislike that Ponyboy is so clingy with Sodapop, because he knows about Ponyboy's nightmares.

Which! Ponyboy's nightmares are a worse than canon. He'll have nights he wakes up screaming, and nights that he wakes up and just... stares. He'll space out and he will absolutely not respond no matter what is happening around him, but he is sitting up and breathing, and it's obvious he can hear you, he's just not responding. It's also obvious whenever he's had a night of nightmares (anywhere between 1 to 3 a night), because he'll be really quiet and sleepy the day after. (He also clings to Darry more, and he genuinely cries whenever Sodapop has to go to work.

Dally isn't as 'cold' or 'mean' to Ponyboy, but he still intimidates Ponyboy with out he interacts with others. Ponyboy gets more Johnny treatment than in canon! That's how I think about it, where Ponyboy could say just about anything and Dally wouldn't care, and Dally gets Ponyboy little things that he thinks Pony will like!

Two-Bit likes to watch Ponyboy on days where he decides to skip (Darry doens't like it but he also does because it means Ponyboy isn't home alone on days he's out of school or sick), and they like to play a whole bunch of games and they go out and 'cause mischief' (they go to the park and have fun and they go and buy art supplies because Pony still adores art, and they like to go hiking, which Darry doesn't know about the hiking).

Sodapop in a Hunger Games AU is plaguing me and now I have ideas

Ponyboy’s name is called during the reaping, and while panicking, Sodapop volunteers as tribute. Ponyboy cries and it’s Steve pulling him away from the reaping and Darry is devastated, because no one expects Sodapop to survive, which is devastating for District 12 (yes I'm using the districts, but I don’t particularly care for the canon map? sorta?). The District loves Sodapop because of his Charisma and he’s genuinely so nice for being from the really poor side of town. The concept of Socs and Greasers still exists, but the District all gave him a salute with bowed heads.

During the ‘goodbyes’ Ponyboy clings to Sodapop while crying (he’s 13 and his favorite big brother is being sent to his death), Darry also cries and the three of them hug for the entire 5 minutes, and Sodapop cries after his brothers are told they have to leave. Darry carries Ponyboy who just… collapsed and cried. Steve visits next and just holds Sodapop while Soda cries, quiet plea’s to look out for Ponyboy as best he can. Steve just holds him while silently crying. Steve gives him his ‘RANDLE’ ring and Sodapop cries a little more. Sandy also comes to see him… and breaks up with him right before he has to leave. Sodapop is devastated.

Headcanon: Steve has a few specific rings that everyone in the district just know belong to him, he has three or four of them.

Sodapop has no clue who the girl is that came with him, he didn’t know her, nor did he recognize her, though she was around his age. Sodapop is stuck in his head, mine running through the memory of volunteering and just being relieved that he’d saved his kid brother from the games. And, to make matters hurt more, Two-Bit is their mentor. Two-Bit is determined to get his friend home, because he did not want to return to District 12 if he failed.

Sodapop’s leg ends up really hurt at some point, specifically in his left leg, and he develops a limp and his speed is cut down by a lot. He very nearly dies, but he’d gained an ally that had gotten him medicine and protected him. Said ally killed himself at the end of the games, and Sodapop was quite a bit depressed by this, despite knowing that they would have had to fight each other to the death. Sodapop had to kill the last remaining tributes and he very nearly doesn’t succeed.

Sodapop ends up winning the games, though he’d somehow angered the Capitol in the process and he doesn’t know how. Two-Bit doesn’t know how either, which is concerning, but the two of them return to District 12 and Sodapop is almost literally knocked off his feet when Ponyboy sees him. Two-Bit laughed as he caught and steadied the sudden duo. Ponyboy cried a lot, and Darry wrapped both of his baby brothers in a tight hug. In fact, the entire gang hugged, uncaring of who was watching.

omg I'm in love with your hunger games au. how do an of the gang's Victors behave while in the capitol for their respective games? like how do their interviews and trainings go?

I’ll go through the Victor’s one by one with the thought of it just being the interviews and trainings because I have the intent of writing out how they each fared in the games (have I posted Dally’s yet? Or is that one still saved away yet? I think it’s still queued).

But here we go!

Two-Bit

Two-Bit is naturally a jokester, and this did not start after the games! He was 13/14 years old when he entered the games. He had the crowd laughing, at himself and at themselves, during his interview. People thought he was hilarious, even if they saw this, at the time, scrawny little kid and thought he was going to die the minute that the games started. He had fans in the capitol, especially since he had a more ‘youthful’ness to him. It caught interest and that interest spread.

Two-Bit made himself out to be this ‘happy go lucky kid that wasn’t scared’, a little trap for the other Tributes who all laughed at him during his trainings. Two-Bit was absolutely not the best with any sort of weapons, however he was smart, he was intelligent, he knew how to look out for danger and he knew how to get people to let down their guards. Nevermind he was also incredibly good at stealing. He was fast too, which was his only true advantage in his arena (more on all the arenas coming soon).

Dally

Dally’s interviews had a lot of questions about why he’d left District 7 and ‘moved’ (read: ran away) to District 12. Dally’s only answer was ‘family’. He left because of family and he ‘moved’ to District 12 because of family. He wouldn’t elaborate, and it ended up making him into something of a mystery that the capitol citizens wanted to know more about. Him being 14 at the time only made that more so. But Dally, having only been in District 12 for like, 4 or 5 months, really didn’t know what made him want to stay in 12, so he made himself act aloof the entire time. Other Tributes didn’t… like that. He very narrowly avoided getting beat up before the games.

His trainings were pretty uneventful, and people avoided him for the most part. He was decent at throwing knives, but he much preferred the ax. He had to make it seem like he was hesitant to try different weapons, and yes, his little psychological war on the other tributes helped him win the games. He found he was pretty decent with a bow and arrow too.

Steve

Steve made himself out to be a cocky asshole during his interviews. He did that on purpose so that it looked like he was ‘untouchable’, advice given to him by both Dally and Two-Bit. He had a natural strength to him from working for the last four years. At 15 he’d had plenty of practice lifting incredibly heavy things from being in the working side of the District, and he and Sodapop used to see who could lift/throw the heaviest things. Both of them had pulled or strained something nearly monthly, more so Steve than Sodapop because Steve was 100 percent showing off a little… He did mention having a best friend and having a girlfriend (Sodapop and Evie) and he had no intentions of leaving them behind. He would make it home.

His trainings had people watching him like a hawk, trying to pick him apart as they watched and analyzed him. They spent so much time watching him, trying to find his weaknesses, that the other tributes barely trained, or at least didn’t train as well as they should have. He was incredibly good at throwing knives, however he was also pretty good with an axe since the gang had started ‘training’ once Dally got back from his games. Two-Bit was a tiny bit paranoid and that was a good thing.

Johnny

Johnny was a nervous wreck during his interviews, he was 15 years old and honestly thinking that he was going to die. He cried during two of his interviews and a lot of the tributes genuinely thought he wasn’t a threat because he was ‘weak’. Johnny talked of their friend group a little, and it was obvious that he was particularly close with Dally and the ‘unnamed youngest’ of their group. The capitol citizens ate up the ‘middle brother’ role that Johnny portrayed. Or, no, they ate up the ‘little brother’ role that Johnny portrayed when talking about his relations with the rest of the gang, but they loved his ‘big brother’ role with the unnamed youngest (Ponyboy).

Trainings had Johnny throwing knives (yes, the gang has a theme of using throwing knives) though he wasn’t the best at throwing knives. Johnny was actually much better at hand to hand combat, not that anyone finds that out until way way later in the games. Johnny also tries his hand at the bow and arrow and ends up accidentally making a fool of himself. Which was probably for the best. He was also found to be incredibly fast (a huge advantage) during his trainings.

Sodapop (a little more on Sodapop)

Sodapop! Poor little guy. His charisma has him winning over the capitol citizens with how much genuine emotion comes from him. He teared up when talking about his brothers, and he laughed when talking about Steve and Dally, and there was excitement and energy when talking about Two-Bit and all the of the gang’s (legal) shenanigans from when they were children when asked about it. He gets all mushy when it’s mentioned that Steve had given Sodapop his ‘RANDLE’ ring and it comes out that Sodapop and him also had matching friendship rings, of which he was wearing still (he had both rings on a necklace so that they counted as ‘one item’, it barely passed as acceptable). Sodapop genuinely cried when asked about his parents, and how Ponyboy (the now named ‘unnamed youngest’ from Johnny’s games) had nightmares about it, and he was so young. Sodapop is 100% a Peeta and he plays the Capitol.

His trainings have people sizing him up, people having finally begun to realize that something wasn’t right about an entire friend group getting reaped, even if Sodapop wasn’t initially drawn he and Ponyboy were still part of the same exact friend group. He lets himself show off his ability with a Bow and Arrow (what he’s best at), and that he knows how to fight hand to hand (but he doesn't show his strength). It’s very clear he’s not a pushover, but he is also so kind and helps some people figure out their best skills for the games.

And we don’t talk about what happens in Ponyboy’s games (yet).

Godly Parents - Curtis Gang

The Curtis brothers are children of Aphrodite

This is not to say that Mr. or Mrs. Curtis cheated on the other. They actually got curious and exploratory (and a little hopeful several times) and Aphrodite thought they were a cute couple. The brothers are, for the most part, half siblings. Darry is Mr. Curtis and Aphrodite's, Sodapop is Mrs. Curtis and Aphrodite's, and it was difficult to pin point which combination Ponyboy was (he has three parents, Aphrodite got curious herself)

Steve is a son of Hephaestus

Steve's mom did cheat on her husband, but that wasnt known until Steve was seven years old. The guilt ate her up and she spilled that information when drunk while night and Steve's step father went from kind and caring and nurturing to an abusive drink. Steve never knew the reason why until he found out he was a demigod. He never knew what to think of his childhood after that, and actually tried to ignore it the best he can.

Dally is a son of Nemesis

I thought that either Hecate or Nemesis fit Dally, and while I really wanted older brother Dally, I also thought it would be better as a bond as well. Nemesis is the goddess of revenge. He doesn't talk about his biological family much, and he never leaves camp unless it's for a quest, before he met the gang at least. After he met the gang he found himself living in Tulsa with the Curtis family before he was taken in by Buck (who isn't a demigod but a clear sighted mortal but once had a demigod child named Rocky).

Two-Bit is a son of Dionysus

Two-Bit can't get drunk. He acts drunk all the time but that's both his personality and because sometimes his powers gonna little wacky and it gives him the feeling of being drunk. Absolutely in love with Marcia and has been since he was fourteen, doesn't think he has a shot with her. Absolutely protective of the youngest gang members, both in camp and outside of camp. He, Dally, and Tim often go on spontaneous quests for the hell of it. He'll bring back trinkets and stuff he thinks that gang would like.

Johnny is a son of Hecate

He sometimes twists the mist to make himself invisible to everyone but the gang, or hides in the shadows when he's particularly nervous. He isn't sure which mortal parent is his, but he suspects his father. He was so scared to show up at camp until he realized Ponyboy was there, and cling to his side as much as he could. He settled into camp pretty quickly until after his jumping, where he then never really left the gang's side. He's really good at most manipulation and spelling casting.

i know it’s probs not part of your au or plans for darry but like IMAGINE if darry was the only one of them to not make it out of his games. the gang has to watch him die in the games where the odds were never once in his favor, stacked too high from the beginning, knowing that he just paid the price for the capitol not being able to kill the others when they had the chance

and that’s what kicks off the revolution in district 12, like when rue died. because darry was one of the most respected guys in the district, someone who only ever cared for keeping his family safe. he was supposed to be spared from the games but they came for him anyway, and now no one is safe

again though these are just thoughts lol don’t take them serious🙏 i love your au it’s so amazing!!

That... I love that. I'd just been talking about yesterday how I struggle killing any of my characters off but wanting to learn how too... Oh Sodapop and Ponyboy would be leading that revolution on two different fronts...

But I also bring to you... They only think they know that Darry's dead, and instead the Capitol does what they did to Peeta to Darry, and so when they find out he's alive they are ecstatic. They want to save and rescue him and bring him home, their new home because 12 is gone now, but then... Darry thinks they are threats, they need to be killed, Darry thinks he's still in the games.

It would take months before Darry is able to separate from what the Capitol did to him, but by then, Ponyboy doesn't even recognize his brother. Physically, yes, that's his brother... mentally? No. it's not. It would crush Sodapop. The rest of the gang would be distraught, and Darry is constantly spiraling to some degree, especially when he's able to focus in on his actual memories of his brothers and realized he'd hurt them.

Just something to think about, hehe

Also, I absolutely love that Darry would be one of the most respected in the district, just something so interesting to think about 12 caring more about the Curtis's / Curtis gang than the gang thought.

random thought I just had about the hunger games AU (this is just a random idea I had and I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t even fit in your AU but I still thought I’d share)

So the Capitol is on their little rampage where their trying to kill off the Curtis gang, and the only person they have in this like sense of security is Darry. Darry can’t get reaped cause he’s too old. But either Ponyboy or Soda’s games happen right before a quarter quell.

That years quarter quell they shift the age from 12-18 to 19-25. And it gets announced and everybody immediately knows Darry is fucked and they’re after him because there’s no way that being the quarter quell is a coincidence. So Darry gets reaped.

AND, hear me out. Darry ends up being the youngest person in the arena that year. Darry, who’s usually the strong invincible one, is thrown into this role where everybody just sees him as ‘the young one’. He’s strong, and he’s pretty big, but everyone looks at him against this arena where a lot of the tributes are well into adulthood and have fully developed brains, and he gets underestimated as hell. And he hates it.

I absolutely love that idea, and I want to incorporate that into my AU somehow, but I have no clue how yet, making me cry haha /pos

I can just imagine the relief Two-Bit had when Darry aged out of the reaping age; because Two-But 100 percent thought he was going to die when he was reaped. there was no doubt in his mind that he was going to die, and then he lived. he won. and then he realized, belatedly, that he'd pissed off the capitol and he has no idea on how to fix that.

The next like, three people he thought would die in a games was Darry, Sodapop, and Ponyboy, and Johnny too when Johnny got to District 12. And then Darry aged out, so Two-Bit was relieved... Oh the irony of the capitol being pissed about Darry aging out before they could get him and then the quarter quell comes around... The President would be jumping for joy about finally getting revenge on Two-Bit Mathews... only to realize that there was someone labeled 'before two-bit mathews' and they learned that Darry taught Two-Bit a lot of what he knew, because his dad was the ultimate jokster, so Darry knows somethings, not as well as Sodapop who takes after there dad ten fold, but there was a 'teacher' of sorts for Two-Bit...

And even Darry would be worried that he wouldn't live / survive the games and the first thing he says to Two-Bit after he gets Reaped would be to 'look after our brothers for me', of which he also tells Dally this, because after Two-Bit, who's mentored every single one of his friends, Dally is the oldest and the toughest in the gang. If anyone was going to lead the gang through danger it would be Dally.

And then Darry lives? Oooh, maybe that could be what kicks off the revolution route... Poor Darry is not going to have a good time and I would like to say thank you. Thank you so much.

Victor Notes (Two-Bit, Sodapop, and Ponyboy anger the capitol)

Victors cannot be reaped a second time, however, friends and siblings are fair game. Two-Bit pissed off the capitol a little by using the arena to kill his opponents (perceptive little shit used everything to his advantage) and the Capitol got pissed off and decided to target his closest friends, i.e. the Curtis Gang. Darry managed to escape the Capitol’s view until after he turned 18, and so the Capitol turned their sights on the older members of the gang… and then they learned about little Ponyboy, who was recently old enough to be reaped and tried to get him, because someone so young wouldn’t be able to fight well enough to survive in the arena… and then Sodapop volunteered. The Capitol didn’t expect a sibling to volunteer, a mistake they wouldn’t make again. Sodapop, just like Two-Bit, pissed off the Capitol the same exact way that Two-Bit did. He used the arena, and sponsor’s, against other tributes and for survival.

And normally, the Capitol would respond by killing that tribute’s family, keep them in line and all that… but Sodapop had won the Capitol citizens hearts by volunteering for his baby brother, and he had such charisma and the Capitol, in turn, absolutely adored Ponyboy; whom of which had been shown during the reaping and Steve rushing to pick him up when he tried to go to his brother and latch on to him (Steve knew from experience the minute Ponyboy latched on, he was absolutely not separating). It also tugged on their hearts that Steve was Sodapop’s best friend, the two being so contrasting and Sodapop wearing Steve’s ring into the arena hinted that they were close as fuck. Especially since it’s known that Steve has a girlfriend, but he sent his most important ring into the arena with Sodapop?

So the next year, they make absolutely sure that there was no way that Ponyboy would be able to avoid the arena, every single one of his friends, and one of his brothers, were victors, and the other brother was too old to volunteer, and they checked his social standing in the district and felt good about sending him to the arena… with Cherry Valance. The Capitol really doesn’t know the Curtis family, because Ponyboy saw a friend, one he’d talked with and did projects with in school, and knew he had to get them both home. And he did so. Yeah, the Capitol is livid that Ponyboy tricked the Capitol gamemakers.

Two-Bit wanted to bash Ponyboy’s head in when he found Ponyboy after the games. The entire Gang was riddled with so much fear, because now three of them have pissed the Capitol off, there will be direct revenge now. And It’s only because Two-Bit is so perceptive that he manages to get their friend group (and Cherry’s group with a subtle warning to Cherry) out of the district and they all manage to go on the run.

A note, you have to be over 18 to be a mentor in the games, which meant that only Two-Bit could mentor Sodapop or Ponyboy, though Dally and Steve were considered when it came to Ponyboy’s games. Though, Two-bit could only Mentor his friends on a technicality that there were no other Victors/Mentors in District 12 before he won.

Absolutely obsessed with your HG AU!! How do you think Ponyboy fares watching Soda’s games? Do you think Darry (fruitlessly) tries to stop him from watching them? How does it look from their end?

Aaaah! I get so happy and smiley whenever anyone says that they love my AU, it’s become my little brain child and it makes me so happy when others love it too!

I think Ponyboy mentally torture’s himself a little bit. His name was originally drawn and so he feels guilty for Sodapop being sent in his place, and this ends up causing one fight which was between him and Steve. The day after Sodapop leaves Ponyboy was still distraught of being, essentially, torn away from Sodapop by Steve during the reaping, and Steve was trying his absolute best to try and explain that Ponyboy could have been arrested or hurt had the peacekeepers decided to force Ponyboy back or away from Sodapop, but Ponyboy just doesn’t get it (yet). The two end up in a screaming match off in a secluded-esque area of the District, and there is a physical altercation, but Dally and Darry manage to put a stop to it. Johnny takes Ponyboy on a really long walk to help him calm down, and Steve goes off to go hunting with Dally as his own form of calming down.

Ponyboy, at home, is just really numb? Like, out in public he can be so… not energetic, but he’s able to put up a wall to block off all the warring thoughts in his head about how it should have been him and that Sodapop was probably going to die. This family has such low thoughts on the other’s chances of survival 😭. Darry doesn’t try stop Ponyboy from watching the games, because he knows and understands that it was just going to torture Ponyboy. Well, he did the first day, and that night Ponyboy had such a vivid nightmare that Darry, Johnny, and Dally were unable to fully calm him down. He was nearly inconsolable afterwards. Even Steve coming by when Darry got desperate, was only able to make it so that Ponyboy wasn’t crying anymore. Darry will forever stand by the fact he’d prefer his brother crying than the blankness that consumed Ponyboy. Watching the games made it so that his nightmares were just the one he didn’t remember and not his imagination and fear and guilt hurting him.

Darry also had his own nightmares but he never reacts to them? He had a lot of nightmares for the first, like, three months after their parents death that he ignored long enough that they ‘went away’ (this didn’t, they just didn’t phase him anymore). His mind kept replacing Sodapop with some of the dead tributes, and it tortured him a little, his mind making him think Sodapop had died. It helped being able to check on Ponyboy, and Johnny when he stayed the night, and during the day he had the knowledge that Dally and Steve were alright too. Darry does not like his family being in danger, and every year for nearly the last five years someone has been in danger nearly every month. He found his ways to cope, even if there was more pain at it being Sodapop this time.

I started just… rambling in that last paragraph, i’m so hoping that it marks sense because I think, like Darry at night, I spaced out a little as the thoughts just escaped me as fast as possible 😂

Ponyboy's Jumping (demigod AU)

Ponyboy’s jumping left Ponyboy more terrified of Socs! It was also a worse jumping than in canon, with the boys getting beat pretty bad, even with their fighting training, but the Socs also had fighting training, and were older than Ponyboy and Johnny. And Bob didn’t die since the group jumping them had been Demigods and Bob’s friends got back to the car and got him Ambrosia/Nectar as they took off. Ponyboy has a high fear of water now too, especially water touching his shoulders unexpectedly.

Johnny was horrified to realize that Ponyboy had passed out and the Socs were still holding him under, and he just… he always carried a switch in his back pocket and he used that to stab Bob, stabbing him twice more before Bob’s friends took action and shoved Johnny into the fountain before getting Bob back to the car and taking off. Johnny wasn’t playing with his best friend’s life and he was going to show it one way or another. Johnny dragged Ponyboy out of the fountain, and Ponyboy was really still. Johnny cried with relief when Ponyboy’s chest was still rising and falling.

The Curtis brothers chased after Ponyboy when he didn’t return home within the hour, and they called Two-Bit and asked if Ponyboy when to him, and then they called Dally and Steve had shown up after being woken up by his dad and them fighting, so it was obvious Ponyboy wasn’t with him. Dally and Two-Bit had both separately made their way to the Curtis household and the gang went looking for Ponyboy, and they figured out that Johnny was gone too so now the panic was almost doubling because two of their group was missing, and it was the ‘babies’ of the group?

It was Dally that had heard Johnny and he took off running with Two-Bit, who noticed Dally tensing and then heard Johnny. The group ran into the park and found Johnny leaning over Ponyboy and shaking his shoulders and once they got closer, they heard him begging Ponyboy to wake up. When Dally had entered the park, he called out Johnny’s name, and Johnny had looked up at them, he started bawling, which scared the gang. It was Sodapop that reached them first, because Sodapop was the second fastest in the gang, the next being Dally, and then Darry and Two-Bit and Steve. Darry was distressed as fuck and Sodaop was cradleing Ponyboy who was un-concious and Dally was holding Johnny who wasn’t breathing properly.

Dally tried to pull Johnny away from Ponyboy but when Johnny though Dally pulled him too far away, Johnny flipped out and actually fought with Dally to get back to Ponyboy and it was Two-Bit forcing Johnny unbalanced (with his powers) to get Dally the chance to hold Johnny and calm him down while Steve and Sodapop and Darry helped Ponyboy. They got everyone back to the Curtis house. Johnny was cursing Two-Bit and Dally quietly, his voice slurring from the effects of Two-Bit’s powers, and Ponyboy woke up once, only calling for Johnny twice before Sodapop shushed him quietly and Ponyboy called for Sodapop before falling back unconscious.

Outsiders hunger games thoughts

I wanted to characterize the Gang to characters from The Hunger Games

Sodapop is akin to a mixture of Katniss (volunteering for Ponyboy, amazing with a bow and arrow, incredibly resourceful) and Peeta (Charming, quick witted, protective of his family, very loving).

Ponyboy is akin to Primrose (was reaped, someone volunteered, universally loved by the District though he doesn't know it, young, and good with animals), though also, later, he is akin to Peeta in his own games (charming, bright, young, resourceful).

Cherry feels like Katniss during her's and Pony's Games (she picks up a bow and arrow pretty quickly, she's resourceful, she's set on survival, protective to some degree of Ponyboy, quick on her feet).

Dally is Johanna! (District 7 connections, good with an axe, pissed at the capitol, seemingly angry all the time, Protective of the people he sees as his). Thinking on it, he also reminds me a lot of Thresh.

Steve reminds me of Finnick (Charming, quick witted, good at throwing things, always thinking of some greater plan, and wanting without a doubt to get back to those he loves).

Two-Bit! Is! Haymitch! Except he's Haymitch who still has a reason to fight for what he believes is right. He's a younger version of Revolution Haymitch. (Drinking problem, won his games young which ironically set a trend, pissed off the capitol, used his arena as a weapon, feels like he's not good enough a lot of the time, feels like shit though because his friends keep coming home and how many people in the district has he let down? he knows them all by name.)

Darry gives off both Katniss and Prim's mother, but also, Gale vibes. I don't know how he reminds me of Katniss and Prim's mother, given he steps up when she stepped down, but he reminds me distinctly of Gale.

Johnny feels a lot like Rue, although he doesn't die (quick on his feet, amazing climber, perceptive as fuck, knows a lot about first aid, loves whistling, is extremely close with Ponyboy).

but like it’s such a good path for darry specifically, and if u want to get SUPER specific with it, u could have him and dally go through hourglass arcs. where darry deteriorates from a solid pillar, kind-hearted but firm, into a flighty, vicious weapon split between two worlds (or memories). while dally grows from a runaway, scrappy rebel into a solid presence for the gang to lean on, someone reliable in a fight who can be a heavy but good-intentioned hand on their shoulder.

this just came to me but in a sense it’s darry, a guard dog, getting turned into a fighting dog, while dally, a fighting dog, gets turned into a guard dog.

And I love the idea of hourglass arcs (I've never heard of that before?? that's so cool?) and omgs I love that, though I feel Two-Bit would also step up, because while Dally is a very strong presence for Ponyboy and Johnny, he is still a kid himself? And Two-Bit see this and recognizes this, and to Two-Bit, Two hasn't been a kid since his name was drawn during his own reaping. Two becomes this strong presence for Dally, and they both become strong presences for the rest of the Gang because there are preferences for who the gang seeks out.

Oh my gods, can you imagine Ponyboy or Sodapop trying once to go to Darry about a nightmare and something happening because Darry woke up in not the right state of mind? And the other brother seeing that and knowing to just... not? How when Darry does get to that sound mind and can think through everything like he used too, how it hurts his brothers are turning to Two or Dally?

Feel like Dally and Darry got into arguments a lot because they weren't in the games anymore, but you can't just forget everything that you went through. And then whatever the capitol did to Darry too, he can't let that go.

Darry is just so scared and he wants his mom and dad but they've been gone such a long time? And Dally wants his big brother figure back from before all the games, farther back from when even Two-Bit was reaped...

Dally's Games (HG AU)

He was 14 years old in the arena, he had not known the Curtis gang long, but he’d grown so attached to the gang so quickly, and they’d all gotten so attached to him too.

Mr. and Mrs. Curtis came and saw him before he got on the train, and Mrs. Curtis held him and took off a necklace that clipped it around Dally’s neck (which he got to wear into the arena because she looped it through his chain necklace as Darrel Sr. held him and gave him whatever advice he could).

“You come home, no matter what you have to do, you come home.” ← Mrs. Curtis’ words to Dally before they had to leave the room, their five minutes being up.

People recognized him from District 7, and the tributes from District 7 were people that Dally had known personally. They were a set of siblings and were 3rd cousins to Dally. Dally had no love for them, especially since they shit talked him during their interviews, putting that, originally, Dally was from District 7. Two-Bit calmed him down before he blew a gasket on the Tributes from District 7, because that could have gotten him killed. Dally had given his ring to Johnny as like, a promise to come back for his little brother, and he wore his chain necklace into the arena, something of which the girl from District 7 tried to use against him, but Dally prevailed. After he left the arena, he did end up giving his chain to Johnny instead, anything being around his neck made him anxious, not that anyone could really tell.

Dally’s arena was a wasteland, with a lot of abandoned houses or buildings, and the sun burned people very quickly, so traveling through the day was hell so most people moved at night, when you could barely see and it was so cold that stealth felt impossible. He remembered Two-Bit telling him that this was probably revenge on him (Two) for using his arena against his opponents and ‘making fun’ of the Capitol (which is his literal personality, he makes jokes at the expense of others or himself). Dally decided to see if he could ‘one up’ Two-Bit, and began taunting his opponents at the risk of himself (Two-Bit wanted to smack the shit out of him when he got out of the arena).

Dally had made a spectacle of luring people out or tricking people into wasting their resources / arrows for the archers. He was still pissed about his ‘cousins’ calling him about being from District 7 that he quite literally saved them for last (for the most part). He didn’t want them to be the last ones last ones, but he wanted them to know he was ‘hunting’ them, for the most part. When he did make it to killing them (he’d baited them into attacking him), he made sure he said loud enough that he represented District 12 and he’d be damn proud of it. He’d gotten pretty hurt on his arm (where his burn scar would have been in canon) but he managed to beat the last four tributes and won his games. Capitol was annoyed because they banked on Dally dying, but the Capitol citizens were moved by him being friends with Two-Bit and being so attached and proud of their friendship that he fought until he passed out to make it back home.

He was very nearly sent back to District 7, but the citizens protested that he was a tribute for 12, and he was proud to come and represent 12, that he was allowed to return to District 12.

The gang clung to him so tightly when he made it back, and Two-Bit did end up smacking him upside the head. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis made sure that Dally knew how loved and appreciated he was and Dally cried. Dally doesn’t cry, but the warm welcome from damn near the entirety of 12, and getting to go home to the Curtis household and being held by Mrs. Curtis just overwhelmed him and he broke down crying. Darry and Mrs. Curtis held him and the gang surrounded the Curtis house living room just basking in Dally’s presence now that he was home. After a while, Johnny did climb to lay on top of Dally as Ponyboy curled into Darry’s side and Sodapop and Steve were on the other side of Mrs. Curtis. Two-bit was sitting in front of Mrs. Curtis, his head laying on her knee as Mr. Curtis cooked in the kitchen.

I got a lot of hunger games on my Tumblr feed and it makes me so happy and reminds me that I really fucking love the hunger games so much...

It also makes me think about my outsiders hunger games au and there's two paths I could take:

The "cottage core" route where they all run away and live peacefully in the forests and support each other

Or

The revolution route which would take us further into the Hunger Games Universe

I might make like... A second Google doc or something and write out how I think both routes would go and see which I like better (id post for both routes and they'd both be in the master list but... Idk thoughts are cooking.... I think)
