Rimeshriek gives Chasingpaw a friendly nudge when the leader calls the young cat's name. He watches with pride as Chasingpaw steps forward to receive his new name, Chasingshadow, and is honored for his spirit.

Chasingshadow finds an abandoned kit whose parents are nowhere to be found. Chasingshadow rushes the kit back to the camp. The kit is nursed back to health and promised a place in the clan.

One of our collective favourite things about Alex and Henry is the way that they not only love each other, but have fun with each other in so many different ways – whether that’s as friends with benefits, best friends, boyfriends or husbands – in and out of the bedroom. And so, in honour of their birthdays, we decided that it would be fun to collaborate to put together this series of snapshots celebrating the versatility of their sex lives over the years and some of the many different ways they have fun with, and celebrate, each other.

The thing about sex with Henry is, it’s never the same twice. Sometimes he moves easily, caught up in the rush, and other times he’s tense and taut and wants Alex to work him loose and take him apart. Sometimes nothing gets him off faster than being talked back to, but other times they both want him to use every inch of authority in his blood, not to let Alex get there until he’s told, until he begs.

It’s unpredictable and it’s intoxicating and it’s fun, because Alex has never met a challenge he didn’t love, and he— well, Henry is a challenge, head to toe, beginning to end.

Or: series of snapshots of Alex and Henry’s versatile sex life throughout the years – because the more life changes, the more some things stay the same.

“I don’t recall ever verbalising that particular preference,” Henry replies, trying very hard not to laugh. “But you’re right.”

“Is it the rats?”

“I think it’s the general aesthetic.”

“I think dumpsters have a certain je ne sais quoi.”

Henry snorts. “Do you really?”

“Promise me something,” Alex asks, stepping back and offering his hand for Henry to take. Threading their fingers together obediently, Henry looks up and tries not to feel a certain type of way about how good his husband looks, even when he’s framed by a dingy alleyway.

“Anything, love.”

1) Any occasion that allows me to indulge in too many sweets and/or comfort foods (80% of the reasons I go to the same small county fair in my area every year is for the food)

2) Working with kids; I’m a part time librarian (working on that degree) & in the summer I work a second job as a camp counselor. I get so much satisfaction out of helping the kids have fun & teaching them new things, and the way children observe & interact with the world never fails to make me laugh.

3) Collecting Dolls, Plushies & Figurines (Superstar Barbie & Midnight Masquerade Esmeralda chill on my shelf & gossip with Arcee and Nightcrawler; meanwhile on the bed Blitzo, Stolas, Loona & Octavia all get to be together, but the fam also has to share a space with Rainbow Brite, Hello Kitty, Raggedy Ann & Andy, a few Care Bears, some Build-A-Bears and like a fuck ton of old Disney plushies)

4) Comics & graphic novels (my favorite graphic novel series from childhood is either Amelia Rules or Bone; my favorite superhero comics are a tie between Paul Dini & Bruce Timm Batman and Chris Claremont X-Men)

5) Soaking in a warm bath with bubbles & bath bombs (I’m partial towards rose & strawberry scents)

NaNoWriMo Day One.

I’m not officially signed up to NaNoWriMo as I’m already writing Chasing Shadows, but I have decided to write 50,000 words this month in order to finish my manuscript and get well on my way to publication.

Today, I started out at 19,305 words and ended up with 18,277. This seems like a loss, but I’m taking it as a win as I finally managed to cut down the 3,000 word long uncessary scene into something readable. As of tomorrow, I’m free to move onto the next chapter where the first major story arc begins, so I’m very excited!

Question- how do you feel about flashback scenes in a novel? I’ve written out several, but I don’t know whether it would be too boring for my readers to sit through them. Originally they were going to be spaced out through the novel, but now they’re nearer to the end and will probably be a single chapter (if I include them at all). Does that affect your opinion?
