So this week is going to go down as maybe the most sapphic week in animation history. It’s going to have a great case, there are so many sapphic shows or shows with prominent sapphic couples airing this week.

Don’t know what I’m talking about? Here’s a quick rundown:

Yuri Is My Job!

Premiering on Crunchyroll on April 6th.

Yuri is My Job! is based on a yuri manga of the same name. It follows high schooler Hime, who cares deeply about her image as sweet and helpful, even though she’s actually selfish. She accidentally injures the manager of a cafe, and agrees to work there to make up for it. But this is no ordinary cafe, it’s like a cafe dinner theater where all the waitresses play characters from a fictional high school and act out skits for the patrons. Hime’s character is supposed to be in love with one of the other waitresses’ character, but she starts actually falling for the girl. Only problem is, behind the scenes the other waitress seems to hate her.

Yeah, that sounds kind of bonkers! I can already see the story now, Hime starting out playing a role, and eventually having to legitimately earn the love of Mitsuki.

Birdie Wing: Golf Girls’ Story

Season 2 premiering on Crunchyroll on Friday, April 7th

Ah Birdie Wing. If you saw season one, you know just how delightful wacky this show is. It follows the stories of Eve, a golfer that plays in illegal underground golf matches for the mob, and Aoi, a golf prodigy and the new sensation of the golf world. Their lives crash into each other and the chemistry is overwhelming and immediate.

Technically Eve and Aoi aren’t canon as of the end of s1, but it’s hard to imagine that the show isn’t heading in that direction. It makes no effort to hide the fact that these two are into each other.

I’m so excited to see what season 2 has in store for these two. Birdie Wing is just a delightfully weird little show.

Princess Principal: Crown Handler Chapter 3

Premieres in theaters in Japan on Friday, April 7th

Alright, so this won’t be useful to a lot of people reading this, as this is only premiering in Japan this weekend. But I wanted to mention it because (a) it’ll come over to the US sometime this year, and (b) Princess Principal is awesome and I want to promote it when I can.

Princess Principal was a 12 episode series that aired in 2017, and Crown Handler is a six-part sequel OVA series.

In a nutshell, Princess Principal is a steampunk spy thriller set in an alternate universe European kingdom that has been divided by a wall, Berlin-style. It follows a team of spies, masquerading as high school girls, as they try to prevent the two sides from going to war.

I know, “why is this on a list of gay shit?” Well, because it is. Two of the main characters, Ange and Princess Charlotte, are big-time into each other and while the original series does the anime thing of “we’re only allowed to go so far with this”, the OG series has a lot of intimate scenes between the two and does end *SPOILERS* with the two of them sitting on the beach together while holding hands.

And perhaps Crown Handler, being made years later, can finally take their relationship farther.

RWBY Volume 9

Volume 9 episode 8 airing on Crunchyroll on Saturday, April 8th

RWBY has been ongoing, and the current volume has been airing since February, but there’ll be another episode this Saturday. Right now RWBY is in the middle of dealing with a lot of trauma, BUT, the bees are canon and dating so every episode of RWBY is now officially gay. So says me.

The Owl House: Watching and Dreaming

 Series finale airing on the Disney Channel on Saturday, April 8th

I’M NOT READY TO LOSE THIS SHOW! 😭

*ahem* The third and final season 3 special airs on Saturday, and promises to be mega emotional and super gay.

I’m grateful that this show had a chance to finish its story, something a lot of sapphic media doesn’t get to do. But I am still pissed about it getting cancelled in the first place simply because it didn’t fit their “brand” (read: this show is too gay for Disney).

But I just know that Dana and her team put together a sensational finale.

Mobile Suit Gundam: the Witch From Mercury

Season 2 premiering on Crunchyroll on Sunday, April 9th.

Affectionately called G-Witch, season 1 of this show was a revelation in the fall. It follows the story of Suletta Mercury, precious cinnamon roll and the most talented mobile suit pilot around, and Miorine Rembran, daughter of the president of the Benerit Group, a mega-corporation that has massive political power.

The show revolves around a school that’s mostly full of the children of powerful people. And then there’s Suletta, a nobody that just wants to be a normal girl and have a normal school life but through a series of events ends up in a mobile suit duel that she easily wins, earning her the title of Holder, which makes her Miroine’s groom.

At first, the two treat the arrangement as a business arrangement, both seeing practical value in this arranged engagement. But it’s obvious that Miorine is actually pretty into Suletta from the start, and we see Suletta slowly falling for Miorine too.

G-Witch is incredible. Part awesome mecha fights, part political intrigue, part romance between two useless girls who’d rather die that admit their actual feelings.

I am SO EXCITED for season 2!

LGBTQ media hasn’t had it great as of late, with a ton of frustrating cancellations and it almost feeling like Hollywood is going backwards in terms of its commitment to giving us space to tell our stories.

But animation, both in the US and in Japan, seems to be making great strides, being our light in the dark.

All five of these shows are airing episodes this week, and Crown Handler will be in theaters this week and on streaming/blu-ray later this year. RWBY has been airing for weeks and its been the gayest volume yet. the Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady just finished airing and was wonderfully sapphic. I’m In Love With the Villainess is scheduled to air sometimes this year. And just maybe we might get Arcane season 2 before the end of the year.

I’m excited for how sapphic and yuri animation is progressing, I hope it keeps going forward.

A/N: inspired by Ex-Girlfriend by Melissa KB. I believe since Charles Leclerc and Charlotte Sine still follow each other on Instagram, it’s perfect.

Y/N doesn’t consider herself to be the jealous type but there is just one little thing that Charles does that make her a little wary, and that’s being in contact with his ex. Now at first, she didn’t mind that Charles followed his ex on social media, he isn’t in her likes and viceversa, but it wasn’t until his ex started showing up everywhere they went.

It happened when Charles invited Y/N over to his mom’s house because she was hosting her birthday party. It was the first time she was going to meet Pascale so Y/N wore her best outfit that was appropriate for the occasion.

“Muñeco, i’m nervous, this is my first time meeting someone’s mom.” Y/N said, Charles turned her around so she could face him.

“My mom will love you, and she will love the dessert you brought.” Charles said.

“Yeah, I figured alfajores would be good, who doesn’t like caramel?” Y/N said, Charles giggled before knocking on the door. The door opened to reveal his mother.

“Oh Charles, you made it!” Pascale said, hugging Charles and kissing him on the cheek,

“Hi maman, this is Y/N.” Charles said.

“Oh Y/N, I have heard so much about you, let’s bring this to the kitchen.” Pascale said, holding Y/N’s hand to bring her inside and Y/N followed her into the kitchen. “So there is plenty of food but we won’t eat until later.”

“My family does the same thing.” Y/N commented.

“Charles, dear, introduce Y/N to the guests, get her comfortable.” Pascale said,

“Yes maman, lets go, Mon coeur.” Charles said, guiding Y/N with his hand on her back. Y/N was meeting everyone, and it was all going great until..

“Charles! It’s so good to see you.” A pretty, thin, brunette said, hugging Charles. “Who’s this?”

“It’s good to see you too, Charlotte. This is Y/N, my girlfriend.” Charles said, moving his hand so now his arm was around Y/N

“It’s nice to meet you.” Y/N said, shaking Charlotte’s hand.

“You too, you’re so pretty.” Charlotte said.

“Thank you…so how do you and Charles know each other?” Y/N asked and Charles scratched the back of his head.

“Oh we dated for 3 years.” Charlotte said and Y/N’s eyes widened in shock and she turned to Charles and then back at Charlotte. “Well, have fun, you two look adorable together, it was nice meeting you.” Charlotte said before kissing Y/N on the cheek and she went off to mingle. Y/N turned to Charles, with her arms crossed in front of her.

“Your ex was invited to your mom’s birthday party? You still talk to your ex?” Y/N asked.

“No, I don’t talk to her, her parents were friends with mine, and it looks like our mom’s still keep in touch.” Charles said,

“But did you hear her? ‘You two look adorable together’, like how condescending could a girl be?” Y/N said. Charles laughed a little.

“But mon ange, you are adorable, that nose scrunch you do is adorable.” Charles said, cupping Y/N’s face to kiss her nose and Y/N did the nose scrunch. “You see? Adorable! Now come on, I think you deserve some food after seeing Cha.” Charles said, Y/N stared at him with an eyebrow raised. “Charlotte, I mean Charlotte.”

“Okay let’s go, I want alfajores.” Y/N said and Charles lead her into the kitchen for food.

The couple saw Charlotte other times at the mall, the grocery store, movie theater, ice cream shop, basically everywhere they went. However the last straw when Charles and Y/N were out for lunch.

“We should get dessert before we leave.” Charles said

“Well if you’re offering, I kinda want the chocolate cheesecake.” Y/N said.

“I want the tiramisu.” Charles said.

“We always got tiramisu after lunch, glad to see that didn’t change.” Charlotte said, appearing behind Y/N, she turned to face Charlotte.

“Charlotte, so great to see you.” Y/N faces Charles mouthing the words “Why is she here?” Charles shrugged. “What are you doing here, Charlotte?”

“Oh I just wanted to get a quick lunch, I’ll leave you two to it.” Charlotte said.

“Why don’t you join us?” Charles asked and Y/N kicked his shin under the table. “Merde, Y/N.” Charles said, soothing his shin.

“Are you sure you don’t mind? I could get another table.” Charlotte said.

“You’re not sitting by yourself, pull up a chair,” Charles insisted, Charlotte pulled up a chair and sat in between Charles and Y/N, leaning closer to Charles, what a surprise.

“So, dessert?” Y/N asked.

“Yeah, I’ll order for us.” Charles said, as he got the waiter’s attention and ordered dessert, letting Charlotte order her food. When Charles’s and Y/N’s dessert came, Charlotte was talking about her relationship with Charles.

“Charles actually let me drive his race car one time, it was so exciting.” Charlotte reminisces. “Has he taken You out in his F1 car yet?”

“I haven’t.” Y/N responded curtly, taking another forkful of chocolate cheesecake, finishing her dessert, and stared at Charles.

“Well I’m sure he’ll take you out someday, he would take me out on his yacht, we’d go scuba diving, hiking, shopping, we had some fun times.” Charlotte said, trying to hold Charles’s hand but he moved his hand away.

“Charlotte, it was so good seeing you, I’ll ask for the check, and pay for your lunch, but Y/N and I have to head out.” Charles said, getting up from the table, pulling Y/N’s chair out so she could get up as well.

“Oh okay, I’ll see you later then.” Charlotte said. Y/N waited for Charles to pay before they left the restaurant. Once they were in the car, charles turned on the radio.

“Okay, let it out.” Charles said and Y/N screamed.

“Like why was she here? I get that Monaco is small but COME ON! It’s not natural to bump into your exes this much. Also the whole ‘i drove his race car, did you drive his race car?’ Like she was fucking comparing relationships, what the hell was that about?” Y/N ranted.

“I know, Mon ange, I know.” Charles said.

“And you! You invited her to sit with us! You didn’t say anything when she talked about the past! You just sat there, eating your tiramisu without a care in the world.” Y/N said.

“I couldn’t tell her anything, Y/N, that would have been rude.” Charles said.

“There is nothing rude about setting boundaries with your ex, Charles.” Y/N said.

When they made it to Charles apartment, Y/N noticed something on the floor that she hasn’t noticed before. A gold bracelet with a ‘C’ charm, Charles only wears silver jewelry and he always has those APM Monaco bracelets so it’s not his, and it is most certainly not hers.

“Muñeco, who’s bracelet is this?” Y/N asked, holding up the bracelet she found on the floor. Charles turned around to look at it.

“Putain, it’s Charlotte’s.” Charles admitted,

“Charlotte’s? You guys broke up a year ago! How is this still here?” Y/N asked.

“I guess she forgot it here and never realized it was missing.” Charles said.

“Okay, we clearly need to have a conversation. Listen, I’m not the jealous type, I’m not too fond of the emotion, but there needs to be boundaries. You can’t just invite her to sit with us whenever she is in the same place as we are. That’s making her believe that you two might have a chance in the future, it just can’t happen again, Charles.” Y/N said,

“But you knew i had exes before we started dating, I don’t understand why you’re acting this way towards Charlotte, we ended on good terms.” Charles said.

“Well i didn’t think I would bump into her so often, I never bumped into Giada, why the hell am I bumping into Charlotte? But I’m serious, Charles, boundaries.” Y/N said.

So the next day, Charles messaged Charlotte on Instagram to return her bracelet, meeting up at the same restaurant.

“Glad you can meet me here,” Charles said, sitting at Charlotte’s table,

“I was a little surprised you DM’d me, to be honest. So what’s up?” Charlotte asked,

“Well I’m here to return your bracelet.” Charles said, showing her the gold bracelet.

“Is that all? Surely you didn’t text me just to return a bracelet a completely forgot about.” Charlotte said.

“There’s more…” Charles said.

“I knew it! You broke up with Y/N didn’t you?” Charlotte asked.

“What? No! Charlotte, there needs to be boundaries between us. You are my ex, it’s okay that we say ‘hi’ when we see each other but that’s it. Also, you can’t come to my mom’s house whenever my mom invites your mom, it’s weird. I blame myself for leading you on yesterday, I guess, and I am sorry about that, but it makes Y/N uncomfortable so if you see me with her out and about in Monaco, don’t say anything.” Charles said.

“Um yeah, yeah, that’s fine, I understand.” Charlotte said.

“Good, bye.” Charles said and he left without a second glance. Once he was in his car, he unfollowed Charlotte and removed her as a follower as well on Instagram. He made it to his apartment and found Y/N baking.

“Hey, I woke up and you were gone, where did you go?” Y/N asked, placing some dough in the oil.

“Clearing something up with an old friend. What are you making? I thought there weren’t any orders for today.” Charles said

“There isn’t, I just really wanted picarones. I would ask if you wanted one but Andrea would kill me.” Y/N said. Charles hugged her from behind and kissed her cheek.

“I love you.” Charles said,

“I love you too.” Y/N said. “Would you help me made the picarones? You can roll the dough and make the shape, I’ll just fry them.”

“I Can do that.” Charles said.

The next time Charles saw Charlotte was when him and Y/N were grocery shopping. And keeping true to her promise, Charlotte didn’t say hi to them, she knew it was for the best though.

“Hey Muñeco, think I need more flour or do we have enough?” Y/N asked. Charles looked at their cart.

“We have more than enough, Mon coeur, let’s go pay.” Charles said.

you were painting peacefully, while Lyney was out on a mission. Lately you had been running out of inspiration, so sometimes you would get his cat Rosseland to pose for you.

“guess who~”

Someone covered your eyes, appearing out of nowhere.

“you’re back early” you smiled, before the man who appeared behind you covered your eyes tighter

“You didn’t guess”

“ugh you- I mean my wonderful and amazing boyfriend, the one and only, the greatest man in Teyvat, Lyney!” You said sarcastically, Lyney chuckled as he felt you rolling your eyes.

“oh come on now! Don’t you want to see something cool?” “look Lyney- I’m- ah rosseland no go back!” you felt the cat rub against your leg, you got tickled a bit.

lyney chuckled at the sight, pressing a kiss to the back of your neck, causing you to get tickled more

you were shocked, you didn’t even know that he had been growing flowers for you.

AND THAT WAS IT. That was the last straw, at this point you were a flustered mess and you didn’t know how to thank him. Let alone even look at him.

He moved the chair next to you and with a snap, the canvas re appeared and the roses in a vase in front of it

“I think rosseland agrees as well” he smiles. Looking up to see you for a bit

Though they’re too scared to admit it to each other. And then when Jaskier and Geralt became famous, the reader and Jaskier started to grow apart because Jaskier was really enjoying his fame. Then the reader started noticing Jaskier hanging out with lots of women so her feelings are starting to hurt. And then one day she catches Jaskier having “fun” *winkwink* with another woman. Then the reader becomes heartbroken and all kinds of stuff. Then you know, they’re gonna talk seriously then they kiss and admit their feelings ang stuff. Their history as childhood best friends is completely up to you. All I want is some jealousy and angst and fluff mwehehe (i like hurting my feelings a bit what can I say)

You tried to reach the stairs and head down to the main floor of the inn, hoping to find a closet or any other secluded area to figure out what you were going to do now that you saw your best friend in a compromising situation. You struggled to reach the end of the hallway before you were stopped by someone’s hand grabbing hold of your wrist.

You feared turning around to see who it was but when you heard the familiar voice say your name, you couldn’t stop turning back to see your best friend.

Jaskier’s face was almost as red as your own but unlike you, he wasn’t dressed, instead only wrapped in a sheet that he had haphazardly thrown around himself.

“I’m sorry for intruding,” you said, your words bitter and pained, something that you had hoped would be hidden from him. “I didn’t know you had company.”

He sighed, running a hand through his dark tussled hair.

“Wait… why are you upset?” He asked.

You shook your head. “I’m not upset, why would I be upset?”

Jaskier looked over your expression. Normally he could read you like a book but currently you didn’t make any sense to him. He didn’t know if it had been because you had been apart for a while, but it was unknown to him what was going on with you.

“We’ve been friends for too long for you to pretend you’re okay,” he stated. “You’re my best friend, you can talk to me.”

“Maybe that’s the problem,” you snapped.

He cocked an eyebrow at you. “I don’t understand.”

You didn’t think you’d say that you didn’t think you could even think that so coherently. The two of you stood in silence for a moment before he could fully understand what you had said to him.

“You love me?” He asked.

You let out a sigh. “I shouldn’t have said anything.”

His hand moved down from your wrist to take your hand in his.

“No, you should have said something ages ago,” he said. “Y/N, I’ve been in love with you since we were kids. I just never thought I had a chance with you.”

“What?” You croaked. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

He shrugged his shoulders. “Why didn’t you?”

You couldn’t help but smile at him, both of you having been daft for so many years.

“So, what does this mean?” You questioned.

“It means I need to go apologise a lot to the woman in my room and then we can continue this conversation when I am a little bit more clothed,” he offered.

You nodded your head. “That sounds like a plan.”

« Rose, murmura-t-elle. »

Le Docteur regarda en direction de Yaz, Ryan et Graham. Tous les trois s'amusaient et le Docteur ne put s'empêcher de sourire. Malgré un détour où ils se sont retrouvés face à des Anges Pleureurs, le TARDIS les avait emmené au XXVème siècle lors de la cérémonie de couronnement de la reine d'Angleterre Charlotte II. De toutes les cérémonies de couronnement auquel le Docteur avait assisté, que se soit au IXème ou XXXème siècle, celui de Charlotte II était le plus somptueux. Elle espérait que cette nouvelle destination leur plairait. Et vu leur sourire, elle ne s'était pas trompée.

Tout à coup, quelqu'un passa devant le Docteur. Elle se figea et écarquilla les yeux. Cela aurait pu être une inconnue parmi tant d'autre, mais même après tous ces siècles, le Docteur l'aurait reconnu parmi des centaines d'autre personnes.

« Rose, murmura-t-elle. »

Un flot d'émotion la parcouru. Elle avait à la fois envie de pleurer et de rire.

« Docteur? Demanda Yaz. Est-ce que tout va bien ? -Oui, répondit le Docteur un peu hésitante. »

Ses trois compagnons la regardèrent inquiets. Mais ils ne devaient pas s'inquiéter, pensa-t-elle. Au contraire, retrouver Rose était ce qui pouvait lui arriver de mieux. Elle regarda la direction dans laquelle Rose était partie. Elle s'éloignait de plus en plus. Bientôt, elle la perdrait de vue.

« Je dois aller voir quelqu'un. On se retrouve plus tard. »

Elle se fraya un chemin parmi les invités. Ses compagnons l'appelèrent, mais elle ne les entendait plus. Tout ce à quoi elle pensait, était de retrouver Rose avant qu'elle ne disparaisse à nouveau. Elle la vit sortir sur le balcon et elle la suivit. Le Docteur pensa soudain que le TARDIS s'y trouvait. Parfait, pensa-t-elle. Si Rose voyait le TARDIS, alors elle l'attendrait. Le Docteur arriva sur le balcon. La nuit était tombée et les étoiles illuminaient le ciel. Elle vit Rose devant le TARDIS, sa main posée sur la porte. En la voyant ainsi, le Docteur eut l'impression que Rose et le TARDIS arrivaient à communiquer. Rose posa sa main sur son oreille, comme si elle avait une oreillette.

« Non, je ne l'ai pas encore trouvé. Mais le TARDIS est là, il n'est pas loin. Je te recontacte plus tard Mickey. »

Mickey ? Alors elle avait repris contact avec Mickey et Martha. Des milliers de questions traversèrent l'esprit du Docteur. Comment avait-elle fait pour revenir ? Qu'était-il arrivé à son double ? Combien de temps c'était-il écoulé pour elle ? Mais surtout, est-ce qu'elle la reconnaîtrait ? Est-ce qu'elle aimerait sa nouvelle apparence ?

« Rose ? »

La jeune femme se retourna. Elle lui lança un regard interrogateur, mais au bout de quelques secondes, une lueur éclaira son regard et un sourire illumina son visage.

« Docteur ! Je t'ai enfin retrouvé. »

Rose se précipita vers elle et se jeta dans ses bras. Le Docteur passa ses bras autour d'elle et la serra contre elle. Jamais elle n'aurait cru pouvoir un jour retrouver la sensation d'avoir Rose dans ses bras. Rose s'écarta légèrement.

« Tu t'es régénérée. -Est-ce que c'est une bonne ou une mauvaise différence ? »

Le Docteur eut l'impression de retourner des siècles en arrière, lorsqu'elle s'était régénérée pour la première fois devant Rose. Ce qu'elle pensait avait toujours été important pour le Docteur.

« Une bonne différence. »

Un immense sourire illumina le visage du Docteur et toute l'anxiété qu'elle pouvait ressentir, s'envola. Mais avant toute chose, elle devait avoir des réponses à ses questions.

« J'ai tellement de questions à te poser. Comment est-ce possible ? Comment es-tu revenue ? -On a besoin de toi Docteur. Les étoiles sont entrain de disparaître. »

Le Docteur fronça les sourcils. Elle comprit que Rose venait de son passé.

« Les ténèbres arrivent. Je... Je l'ai déjà vécu. Tu es allée trop loin dans l'avenir. -Combien de temps ? -Ça n'a pas d'importance. -Docteur, ça fait combien de temps ? »

Le Docteur soupira. à quoi bon lui mentir.

« Plusieurs siècles. »

Rose baissa les yeux, comprenant ce que cela voulait dire.

« Je vois. Si ça s'est passé il y a plusieurs siècles, ça fait longtemps que je ne suis plus de ce monde. »

Le Docteur posa ses mains de chaque côté de son visage et la regarda droit dans les yeux.

« Rose, ça va aller. Tout se passera bien, je te le promets. »

Rose acquiesça et posa sa main sur celle du Docteur. Celle-ci approcha son visage de celui de Rose et son posa son front sur le sien. Elles ne se lâchèrent pas du regard. Même si elle savait qu’elle allait bientôt partir, le Docteur voulait profiter le plus possible de ce moment avec Rose.

« Tu dois bientôt t’en aller ? »

Rose acquiesça.

« Attends quelques minutes. Reste auprès de moi quelques minutes une dernière fois. -D’accord. »

Le rythme de la musique changea et une musique lente se fit entendre.

« Rose Tyler, m’accorderais-tu cette danse sous les étoiles ? »

Un immense sourire illumina le visage de Rose.

« Avec plaisir. »

Le Docteur passa ses bras autour d’elle et Rose posa sa tête sur son épaule. Toutes deux dansèrent au rythme de la musique. Elles s’embrassèrent. Ce baiser exprimait tout l’amour qu’elles avaient l’une pour l’autre. Le temps s’était comme arrêté. Seul comptait le fait qu’elles étaient ensemble et qu’elles s’aimaient. La musique s’arrêta. Mais Rose et le Docteur n’y firent pas attention. Elles continuèrent à s’embrasser sous la lumière des étoiles.

La vie amoureuse de Louis XIV

Marie Angélique de Scorailles was a French noblewoman and one of the many mistresses of Louis XIV. A lady-in-waiting to his sister-in-law Elizabeth Charlotte, Princess Palatine, the Duchess of Orléans, she caught the attention of the Sun King and began an affair with him in 1679.

« Belle Beauté et Port-Royal

Mademoiselle de Fontanges a passé comme une comète dans la vie amoureuse de Louis XIV. Patrick Daguenet, dans une biographie confrontant pour la première fois la quasi-totalité des sources disponibles, évoque avec sensibilité le destin tragique et méconnu de la dernière passion du Roi-Soleil.

Le 17 octobre 1678, la princesse Palatine, belle-sœur de Louis XIV, reçoit au château de Saint-Cloud une nouvelle fille d’honneur : Marie-Angélique de Scorailles de Roussille, dite Mlle de Fontanges. Sa famille, d’extraction chevaleresque, est originaire de Haute-Auvergne. Pendant la Fronde, son père, Jean-Rigaud de Scorailles, s’est illustré en 1651 au siège de Montrond. Mais il n’est pas un courtisanet c’est dans ses châteaux auvergnats de Cropières et de Roussille que le guerrier prend son repos auprès d’une épouse réputée pieuse à laquelle il fait neuf enfants.

La duchesse de Fontanges lance une mode qui fait fureur… après sa mort 

Marie-Angélique de Scorailles de Roussille, qui devient duchesse de Fontanges en 1680, est célèbre pour avoir été la dernière favorite officielle et éphémère (1679 – 1680) d’un Louis XIV vieillissant qui épousera ensuite en secret Madame de Maintenon. Malgré la beauté (remarquée par tous les contemporains) de sa nouvelle conquête de dix-sept ans, malgré sa douceur et sa bonté, le monarque quadragénaire se lasse rapidement de son manque d’esprit et de culture. Lorsque la duchesse de Fontanges décède prématurément à l’abbaye de Chelles en 1681, elle laisse en héritage une mode tenace qui affole les dames : la coiffure « à la Fontange » ! Plongée dans les recherches nécessaires à la thématique du mois de septembre dans l’espace membre du Cabinet Secret intitulée « À vos cheveux, prêtes… coiffez ! », je déborde de trouvailles

CABINET DIT « DE LA DUCHESSE DE FONTANGES »

Pierre Gole (1620 - 1685)

Vers 1680, bois d’ébène et de palissandre, marqueterie de cuivre et d’étain, 186 x 114 x 60 cm

L’histoire de ce meuble est royale. Il avait en effet été commandé par Louis XIV pour l’une de ses maîtresses, Mademoiselle de Fontanges.

La beauté de Mademoiselle de Fontanges était fortement commentée à la Cour du Roi-Soleil.

« Les portraits faits de Marie-Angélique s’accordent avec les discours locaux à propos de sa grande beauté, témoignage unanime de ses contemporains. Sa chevelure claire, blonde, un peu rousse, de la couleur du miel et bouclée soulignant son teint éclatant.

Marie-Angélique de Scoraille de Roussille, duchesse de Fontanges est née en 1661. Elle entre à la cour en 1679 en tant que fille d’honneur de la Princesse Palatine, qui la décrivait ainsi « Belle comme un ange, avec un cœur excellent ». Elle devient favorite du Roi à l’âge de 17 ans, s’attirant ainsi les foudres de Madame de Montespan, alors prête à tout pour l’écarter de Louis XIV. Le doute planera sur les circonstances de sa mort, en pleine affaire des poisons. Elle laissera à la postérité la célèbre coiffure « à la Fontanges ».

Marie Angélique de Scorraille de Roussille, duchesse de Fontanges, née en juillet 1661 et décédée le 28 juin 1681, était une favorite de Louis XIV. En 1679, elle tomba dans les bras du roi, lui-même alors âgé de 41 ans. Elle fut la dernière à ce titre dans la vie de Louis XIV, dans la mesure où la relation du roi avec Mme de Montespan était alors finissante et où Mme de Maintenon ne fut pas à proprement parler une favorite puisque le roi l'épousa.

On pense que Mlle de Fontanges naquit au château de Cropières, dans le Cantal. Elle décéda à l'Abbaye de Port-Royal de Paris.
