Rouge sounds like dolly parton but will deny it

Jean is the top.

Gambits messed up grammer is adorable, and his food is to die for.

Erik is emotional over the holidays because often times he's alone, envious of the big family that charles has- without him.

Beast sheds way too much and its very annyoing.

Kitty definitely has a "vintage" "jazasize" outfit, complete with leg warmers.

Morph is very insecure and often has social anxiety to the point they wont speak if theres a lot of people around.

Kurt hands from chandeliers for no reason

If Logan comes to ask bobby to make his beer cold one more time hes going to freeze them on purpose.

Ororo sees Kurt like a younger brother

I dont care that kurts lived in america for 3 or 13 years he will never say Wolverine properly.

i don't know how widely known this is but in the sarah ruhl play "eurydice" it's played so eurydice doesn't know that orpheus can't look back at her. and so that's ultimately why he turns around, because he cannot bear the idea that she thinks she is nothing. and i think there is something to say about that and dbda.

charles turns around, yes. because edwin asks him to. he turns around and says i'm not in love with you but you are everything in the world to me. charles looks edwin in the eyes, hands on his collar bones, and is not in love.

orpheus turned around because he could not stand the idea of eurydice not thinking she is loved. charles turned around because he could not stand the idea of his best friend being sad. charles and orpheus both love their eurydice but in a different way but neither was more important than the other because they both turned around

but orpheus turned around and failed because his story was about trust above love, and charles turned around and still succeeded because his story is about love above all else. above odds, above rules, about bureaucracy, above life and death itself. orpheus and eurydice is a tragedy because it is about love without trust and love you do not have trust in. charles and edwin is not a tragedy because it is a love so fundamental that nothing else matters

just saw someone call charles' career 'common successes' the pole to win ratio agenda is too severe because in no way is 26 poles without a championship winning car common at ALL

every time he wins it's after ten thousand trials and tribulations and his wins this year mean so much more to me than if he had a dominant car. i said it last year and i think so doubly now that he impresses me with every race like he is him and i truly think he is the best.

as much as i want- no need oscar to win a grand prix as soon as possible for my own mental health, i think we all need to take a moment and think about how early into oscar's f1 career we still are. imola '24 was oscar's 28th grand prix start.

let's take a look at a list of the drivers on the grid that have won and how many race starts it took for them to achieve their maiden victory:

those stats show just how impressive it is that we're even talking about the possibility of oscar winning a grand prix, because the only people who had achieved a win at this point in their careers are the three world champions currently on the grid.

so again, i want oscar to win as soon as possible for his sake and for my own, but to quote oscar himself: 'i have been happy with how I’ve been performing. of course, i want to get some better results for that but i'm sure if i keep doing the right thing, that time will come.'

ngl on my first watch, I sort of read Charles' reaction to Monty as a very specific sort of jealousy, in that I imagined him shooting his shot with Edwin very early on and getting turned down (probably unknowingly on Edwin's part), which Charles accepted with the same cheer and grace he accepts most things Edwin does. And over the years it was fine because Edwin never showed any interest in romance at all, certainly not in guys, so Charles figured hey, it's not personal, and we're still the most important person in each other's lives

And then Monty happens, and suddenly it looks like Edwin is interested in guys. Which then must mean that he just wasn't interested in Charles specifically

Which was why he reacted Like That to Monty and (to an extent) the Cat King

types of story that different black sails characters think they're in:

jack: typical underdog overcoming unbeatable odds story; he is the main character and the show is 100% about him and his joseph campbell hero's journey. he is like achilles seeking eternal glory. he is also like gilgamesh, seeking immortality because he's afraid of death

flint: one of those fairytale retelling stories from the villain's pov; he is the fire-breathing dragon/big bad wolf/wicked witch that his village has ostracized, chased out of his home with pitchforks and torches because they feared him and what he is and what he stands for. he knows that in another show, a more popular show, the story would be told from the pov of the villagers about the dangers that lie beyond the village walls and into the forest...but this is HIS show and in HIS show HE is the one that survived the villagers not the other way around and HE is the one that has been wronged and he WILL see them pay for it

miranda: at first she thinks she is the witty and cunning heroine of a regency period romance novel. she is critical of high society and it's archaic and sexist traditions, turns her nose up at the institution of marriage and yet against all odds finds a true partner in thomas. she thinks herself happier and smarter than her peers, for finding a way to explore her sexuality freely and still keep her high status. she is caught in a whirlwind romance with a handsome naval officer and well....then her story turns into a tragedy and a decade caught in lifeless loveless joyless limbo where she is sidelined into the background of someone else's story

max: overly aware that she is in A Story and that she is Not The Main Character; the spotlight is never on her, she will never take centre stage. in fact, she is in the wings, or perhaps watching the show from the back of the theatre as the stage manager, setting the scene and directing others to pull ropes, shine lights, open and close the curtains so that other actors can strut and fret their way around the stage

billy: revenge quest story! thinks he is the good guy, there to protect his friends and get revenge on the tyrant who killed his father. gains some genre awareness and realizes that he is not, in fact, the main character, but rather a side character caught in a romance between his captain and quartermaster and if he really wants to survive he's really gotta break them up

madi: a story of hope told around a campfire, passed on from generation to generation so people don't forget about the time that an island of maroons stood up to a seemingly eternal and unbeatable empire. some days, it's a cautionary tale, on how volatile solidarity can be with divisions like class, race and gender .... or how revolution necessitates violence that people who are comfortable in their oppression rather not pay... but no empire lasts forever and nothing is inevitable. the story sticks in the hearts and minds of future revolutionaries and someday someone somewhere will pick up the torch and continue the fight
