Guys I found a loom for £5 in a charity shop I fear I'm about to become unstoppable.

It's small (meant for kids) but I find darning relaxing and this is basically just the same thing so I should pretty easily be able to make some stuff with it.

Entirely by chance, I found the first five seasons of Stargate SG-1 on DVD in a charity shop. Paid fifteen quid and gave them a good home. (My home, in case it wasn't clear.)

Newest thrifting acquisition. Though I predominantly dress in black, olive green is one of my absolute favourite colours, especially for clothing. This particular jacket is also very nostalgic for me, as my dad had one extremely similar when I was a teenager, and I used to steal it. His had patches and embroidery on it, and I'm sure this will end up with some of those 😁

BTW, thrifting pro-tip: this was in the children's section, and is labelled as being for a 14-15 year old. I am 42 years old and it fits me perfectly (I'm a UK size 10). Do not be afraid of checking out the section of your charity shop/thrift store that isn't "intended" for you - the kid's section tends to be much cheaper, and many items intended for a large child will fit a smallish adult (if you're very petite maybe stuff for even younger kids will fit you).

Even if the thing you like doesn't fit, you can often mod it in some way, like cutting off the front of a t-shirt and sewing it onto one that does fit you, or turning it into a patch.

A hobby of my fellow Night Vale enthusiasts and I has become going into shops and yelling 'CECIL!' when we come across an interesting item of clothing that looks like something he would wear.

Charity store find, some rather sleek looking glasses. Mainly retrieved them because the red rim works with what I call, Lestats gown (deep red), which I'm working on to change it to fix my more masc body. For now, though, just glasses.

Do you think AMC Lestat would suit glasses and a lip ring? With the piercings, that could be more the Rockstat era, but I don't really know how a vampire would go about that, so he'd probably have to wear fake ones.

Today I was reminded once again that you shouldn't neglect any section of the charity shop. Given my music taste its super rare that I come across any shirts for a band I like, however today in the men's t-shirts....

I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of The Damned at this point in my life (I'm nowhere near as into them as I am some other groups) but they are nonetheless an extremely important band for me, as they gave me one of those seminal moments you sometimes get with music where you know nothing is gonna be quite the same for you again after.

It was seeing them perform their song "Nasty" on the TV show The Young Ones. I knew of The Damned before this because my mum was a punk back in the 1970s and had played me some of their music, but before Nasty I had no real concept of goth music. Although strictly speaking The Damned aren't goth, by the mid 80s when that show was filmed they were leaning into that aesthetic very heavily with Dave Vanian's massive backcombed hair, frock coats and fangs. Most goths have a lot of respect for The Damned.

Throughout their performance I was 👀 👀 👀 and after that a whole world opened up for me.

I should probably share it here in case anyone hasn't seen it:

The shirt was £7 which is more than I'd usually spend on a charity shop t shirt, but how often does one find something like this? I couldn't leave it behind.

Its enormous on me so I'll have to do some resizing but I enjoy that process 😁

To balance things out, I also got a dress for £2. Muddy grey/green which is a colour I love and fits me perfectly! Great for an orphaned waif look.

I found some alien/UFO sighting magazines from the 90s in the charity shop!!! I only got one that had some X-Files in it and it was just a super awesome find!!! Totally freaked when I saw them and was just in awe
