Again, on my rewatch of Batman: The Brave and The Bold, it suddenly occurred to me; how many of Batman’s rogues are metahuman? I was sort of under the impression that there’s not a lot of them, but I was just thinking, how many of them are there? It seems like more than I thought, honestly

-Poison Ivy, obviously she counts what with the whole power of controlling plants. -Ra’s al Ghul, though he’s more magic than meta, obviously not a normal human being -Killer Croc, a mutant, still definitely counts as a metahuman -Mister Freeze... does he count if his mutations are all detrimental? -Clayface, obviously. I’m not even elaborating here. -The Music Meister, who was honestly what inspired this list considering his power may be the strongest of any character on this list despite his silly nature, -Polka-dot Man, if you count Suicide Squad’s portrayal of him as his default characterization, definitely the second most powerful here. -Solomon Grundy, zombies count as metahuman, right? -The Royal Flush Gang, though they were pretty quickly defeated, besides Ace. -Manbat? He exists, I guess, lmao. Never read anything with him in it so I’m going off of his concept literally requiring metahuman abilities

I just find it interesting! I probably missed a couple given how many Batman villains there have been, but it’s kinda neat that Batman has so many human villains instead of metahumans, which only makes the metahuman villains more interesting, IMO, as they stand out among the crowd.

had the very uniquely val experience of getting an ad in the mail for the shakespeare theatre company’s (in washington dc) (i saw evita there last year) (which is not shakespeare but he and alw are both british so i can understand the confusion) production of comedy of errors and was deeply confused bc i already have tickets to see all of the american shakespeare center’s (in staunton, virginia) fall/summer shows (macbeth, merry wives of windsor, the importance of being earnest, dracula: comedy of terrors) (as far as i know they do not do musicals) (though cassius and brutus did sing everybody wants to rule the world together before i saw julius ceasar and that was fun)

Preacher Samuel Robert Cassius (May 8, 1853 - August 10, 1931) was an ordinary man who lived an extraordinary life. A former enslaved from Virginia, he was the product of a bi-racial union, a house-enslaved, Jane, and probably his physician and politician owner, James W. F. Macrae, a relative of General Robert E. Lee.

During the Civil War, he and his mother relocated to DC, where he worked as a “contraband” and enrolled in the first school for African American children in the nation’s capital. In this school, he encountered a white school teacher from Connecticut, Frances W. Perkins, who whetted his appetite for knowledge, steered him toward the ministry, and inspired him to teach in his adult years. He “shook hands” with President Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and a host of other white and Black dignitaries.

He married Effie Festus-Basil (1874-1895). In the early 1880s, the family relocated to Brazil, Indiana, where he toiled as a coal miner and where he converted to the Churches of Christ. In 1891, he, driven by a religious impulse as well as a desire for economic advancement, took up residence in the Oklahoma Territory, where he lived until 1922. He worked as a preacher, educator, farmer, entrepreneur, postmaster, and politician. He fathered eleven children with his first Effie (who died), and twelve with his second wife, Selina Daisy Flenoid (1898).

In 1920, he published The Third Birth of a Nation, a response to and denunciation of Thomas Dixon’s 1905 racist novel The Clansman and D. W. Griffith’s 1915 inflammatory movie, “Birth of a Nation.” He reissued his book in 1925.
