World Communion Sunday at Minneapolis’ Westminster Presbyterian Church Celebrates Its Global Partners

Might I remind people that this is the first time in 7 YEARS that Esteban was the one who caused a crash with his teammate. People go on saying he always crashes and drives aggressively against his teammates but have you even bothered to watch how HIS teammates raced him? Just as aggressively and most of the time much worse than him. Ever wonder why most of his teammate crashes weren't his fault bar two (Baku 2017 and now)?

And we have to admit it, teammates who are beside each other on track will, at one point or more, clash with each other. Case in point, Seb-Charles, Carlos-Charles, Lewis-George, Nico-Lewis, Seb-Weber, Fernando-Lewis and many more. Esteban had the fortune and misfortune of actually matching his teammates, hence why he and them often start beside each other. In the words of Fernando "Some first laps we had some fights, because we start always together, we qualify very close."

And I'm sorry but no way will Alpine replace their better performing driver (I said what I said) for a one clumsy mistake. A mistake a lot of drivers have made and will make in the future. Alpine will be extremely foolish to even consider it especially when the past teammate incidents (Australia, Japan, Miami...), Gasly wasn't so innocent there either.

The level of overreaction is unreal. And I know most of it is because the driver in question is Esteban, nothing more nothing less. Famin certainly didn't help with his unnecessary and unprofessional comment. As much as I don't want to admit it, Otmar would have handled this much better than him.

Siata 208 CS ( 1 of 6). 

Societá Italiana Auto Trasformazioni Accessori (SIATA) created a marvelous assortment of machinery in its 45-year history under the guidance of the Ambrosini family. Founded by Giorgio Ambrosini in 1926, Siata specialized in performance modifications for Fiats, creating the overhead-valve conversions, multi-speed gearboxes, superchargers, and multi-carb intakes that competitive Italians wanted for their diminutive cars. The Italian auto giant conspicuously ignored—with few exceptions—the high-performance market as the Agnellis concentrated their empire around sensible, reliable, and mass-produced cars of small proportions.Siata received substantial financial assistance from Fiat following the Second World War, and by 1949 they were producing small automobiles which wore custom, house-labeled coachwork. Firmly grafted to Fiat and its engineering, Siata took a giant leap forward with the arrival of Rudolf Hruska in 1950. Hruska had worked in Porsche’s design office before the war and later collaborated with Carlo Abarth on Piero Dusio’s Cisitalia Grand Prix project. Fiat itself plotted its re-entry to the top ranks of Italian performance automobiles in 1950 with the introduction of their two-liter V-8 (dubbed "Otto Vu"), whose development was entrusted to Siata and executed in total secrecy by Hruska’s team.

The unusual oversquare, 70-degree V-8 engine featured all-aluminum castings with wedge-shaped combustion chambers. Induction was through a pair of dual-throat, downdraft Weber carburetors. With its high-revving short-stroke design and 8.5:1 compression ratio, prodigious power was channeled through a four-speed manual gearbox. Hruska planted the engine into a tubular chassis, and this became the basis of Fiat’s 8V.

Debuting at the 1952 Geneva Salon, the 8V caused an absolute sensation perhaps best equated to a meltdown of Italy’s motoring press. For many, the Siata-developed, Fiat-badged supercar defied belief. In particular, the advanced chassis featured a fully independent suspension with coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers at all four corners and was a marvelously sophisticated platform for its time, with supple and predictable handling that amazed drivers accustomed to the rigidly sprung, “flex-framed,” live-axle sports cars of the time.

Approximately 200 Tipo 104 engines were made to supply the 114 8V examples which Fiat ultimately produced. Eighty-five or so surplus engines were thusly returned to Siata, which seized the opportunity to supply them with additional house-made upgrades and implant them into the very chassis from which the earth-shattering Otto Vu had been developed.

The resulting Siata 208 CS was available as an attractive barchetta-like Spider or streamlined berlinetta, which Siata commissioned from a small pool of local coachbuilders including Bertone, Vignale, and Stabilimenti Farina. It is said that Siata openly encouraged the carryover of major styling details which these same companies were providing to Ferrari during the same period.

Perhaps the shapeliest design ever rendered upon the 208 CS, however, was executed by Balbo of Turin. Just nine berlinettas were made, of which only six examples are known to remain extant.

Cistilia-Abarth 204

With resources and talent from the defunct Cisitalia Automobili, Carlos Abarth started his own company called Abarth & C. in Turin and the 204 A roadster was his first car. He acquired the remnants of Cisitalia including the 204 which he had modified by Porsche to fit their torsion bar rear suspension.

Visually the cars appeared like a scaled-down version of the Cisitalia grand prix cars. The engine was derived from a Fiat 1089cc unit fitted with twin Webers.

The car was successfully raced in the 1949 season by the Cisitalia-Carlo Abarth Team in the 1200cc class. After wins by Pierro Taruffi at the Circuit of Reggio Emilia and the Aosta-Gran San Bernardo, it looked like Abarth was set to take the Grand Prix of Madrid. Unfortunately all the 204s failed, leaving victory to the Simca-Gordini. That year Taruffi still clinched the F2 title for sports cars.

By 1950, Abarth removed all the Cisitalia logos from the 204 and prepared extensively for Tazio Nuvolari’s drive in the 10th Giro de Sicilia. At 57 years old, this was Nuvolari’s last stab at professional racing. He won the Palmero-Monte Pellegrino hillcimb which was his last victory in professional racing. Nuvolari retired from the team before the great Sicilian race.

I am against any legislation that allows troops to deploy to the Middle East in support roles for Israel, as proposed by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

I am against Netanyahu’s ground invasion of Gaza, which will inevitably lead to mass killings of Palestinian civilians and escalate violence. If there are any future bills supporting this, you need to vote against them and not co-sponsor.

The U.S. Constitution and the War Powers Act stipulate that only Congress can authorize the president to use military force in a foreign war, except in cases of self-defense. Previous administrations from both parties have ignored this, with unauthorized strikes in places like Syria and Libya. I want you to stand against ANY use of military force that supports Israel or hurts Palestine.

And of course, I am against the usual funding of $3.8 billion PER YEAR to Israel. This 10-year agreement began in 2016. I do not want a renewal in 2026, and in the next election, I will vote for representatives who WILL NOT VOTE TO FUND ISRAEL. I will be keeping track of how you vote now, and I will not vote for you if you decide to fund Israel in any way.

I am a single-issue voter for this. I want you to defund Israel. I do not want a single dollar spent on supporting Israel. I will be paying attention to how you vote in the upcoming weeks and months, and if you vote to fund or provide weapons, troops, or intelligence to Israel, I will NOT vote for you in the next election.

We are paying attention to the budget. We know when you're giving aid to a country committing genocide instead of helping your constituents in the USA. Both myself and tens of thousands of other constituents have spent years saying that we don’t want our hard-earned taxpayer dollars going to Israel. The lack of willingness to fund anything for American citizens, but the quickness with which you take action for Israel is telling. It is unacceptable.

As an elected official, you have the opportunity to listen to the public and stand against genocide. Israel is currently committing war crimes against Palestine. You can stop this by defunding Israel. THOUSANDS of Palestinian people have been killed, 1/3 of them children, in just a couple of days. One child every 15 minutes is being killed. YOU can prevent this by refusing to send additional weapons and funding to Israel.

We are currently spending BILLIONS of dollars EVERY YEAR on Israel. I do not want my money going towards the ethnic cleansing and genocide of Palestinians. Not a dollar more.

Plenário da Assembleia Legislativa na tarde desta terça-feira (10)FOTO: Bruno Collaço / AGÊNCIA AL A Assembleia Legislativa aprovou na tarde desta terça-feira (10) quatro projetos de lei (PLs) de autoria do Poder Executivo e dois do Tribunal de Justiça de Santa Catarina (TJSC). Entre as matérias, destacam-se os PLs 402/2024 e 404/2024, ambos de autoria do Executivo, que autorizam o governo do Estado a fazer dois empréstimos junto ao Banco Internacional para Reconstrução e Desenvolvimento (Bird), no valor total de US$ 420 milhões (aproximadamente R$ 2,4 bilhões). Todas as propostas aprovadas seguem para a sanção do governador Jorginho Mello (PL). Empréstimos Os PLs 402/2024 e 404/2024 foram aprovados por maioria de votos. O primeiro trata da autorização para empréstimo de US$ 120 milhões (aproximadamente R$ 680 milhões) para investimentos no Programa SC Rural 2, que visa fomentar o desenvolvimento sustentável do espaço rural e pesqueiro do estado por meio da promoção da competitividade, inovação e inclusão social no contexto de emergência climática. Já o segundo autoriza o Executivo a fazer operação de crédito de US$ 300 milhões (quase R$ 1,7 bilhão) para o Programa Estrada Boa, que prevê a realização de 60 obras em rodovias de todo o estado. Em ambos os casos, o Estado ainda depende de autorização do Senado Federal para obter os recursos. Os deputados Fabiano da Luz (PT), Matheus Cadorin (Novo) e Marquito (Psol) fizeram críticas aos projetos. Fabiano afirmou que os custos com os empréstimos são elevados e ficarão para o próximo governador. “O governo tem dinheiro em caixa. Não há necessidade de fazer um financiamento desse tamanho”, disse. Cadorin reconheceu a importância e a necessidade dos investimentos, mas defendeu que o governo apresente alternativas, como concessões e PPPs. O parlamentar também criticou a forma célere como os projetos tramitaram. “Precisávamos de uma discussão mais profunda”, comentou. As matérias foram analisadas apenas pela Comissão de Finanças e Tributação, na manhã desta terça. O líder do Governo, deputado Carlos Humberto (PL), afirmou que os juros dos empréstimos são os mais baixos do mercado e que o Estado terá 20 anos para pagá-los, com 36 meses de carência. “É um dinheiro barato para investir em áreas essenciais para o Estado”, afirmou Humberto. “Com o crescimento da nossa economia, fruto desses investimentos, esses juros e essas dívidas vão ficar decrescentes dentro do orçamento.” Os deputados José Milton Scheffer (PP), Lucas Neves (Podemos), Volnei Weber (MDB), Soratto (PL), Silvio Zancanaro (PSD), Jair Miotto (União) e Altair Silva (PP) defenderam os empréstimos e destacaram a necessidade de investimentos nas áreas contempladas. Já Zé Caramori (PSD) sugeriu que o Estado adote algum mecanismo para se proteger das variações do preço do dólar. ITCMD Por unanimidade, foi aprovado o PL 363/2024, também do Executivo, que faz alterações na legislação sobre o Imposto sobre Transmissão Causa Mortis e Doação de Quaisquer Bens ou Direitos (ITCMD). As mudanças visam principalmente adaptar a legislação estadual à Reforma Tributária aprovada no ano passado pelo Congresso Nacional. Inspeção sanitária Ainda do Executivo, foi aprovado por unanimidade o PL 382/2024, que estabelece uma nova legislação para disciplinar a inspeção e fiscalização sanitária e industrial dos produtos de origem animal produzidos em Santa Catarina. O objetivo é fortalecer o sistema de inspeção sanitária e proporcionar segurança jurídica na sua aplicabilidade. A proposta foi encaminhada pelo governo em regime de urgência. O deputado Fabiano da Luz defendeu que a nova norma não seja aplicada aos pequenos produtores rurais que, segundo ele, contam com tratamento diferenciado. Segundo o presidente da Alesc, Mauro De Nadal (MDB), as discussões sobre o assunto serão retomadas em outubro, a fim de garantir o tratamento diferenciado.
