I can't believe the Dakar is over already. I started out being mostly interested in the bikes, so they have a special place in my heart. And I am a KTM girlie, so this year's Honda domination made me real sad. Although the results of all the other categories that I follow make up for that.

I might be the biggest Martin Macik fan and I feel like out of all the winners, he (and his team of course) deserves it the most. It's his 12th Dakar and I'm so happy everything's finally worked out for him. With 2 hours ahead of the 2nd.

Also I was really rooting for Carlos Sainz and Audi in general. Audi had a three year programm with a hybrid car and this was their last Dakar (for now) and I really wanted them to get a win. Preferably with Carlos. Audi is a great example for team work as well. I'm so happy for them. And the fact that Carlos Jr. flew in to see his dad win makes me so happy.

But I've got to admit that a little part of me was rooting for Sebastien Loeb as well. Dude's won so many championships and stages, but never the Dakar itself. He's been on the podium so many times and he was so close to Carlos for the better part of the race. But honestly after those mechanical problems, I'm just glad he's still on the podium.

And probably the biggest of them all. Christina Gutierrez ladies and gentlemen. The second woman to ever win the Dakar, after Jutta Kleinschmidt, the queen of motorsports, but in a different category. I hope Christina gets to drive in the Ultimate category soon, so she can kick some ass there alongside Laia Sanz, my queen.

And speaking of women in the Dakar, can we talk about Anja Van Loon and her team? A girls team in the trucks? How cool is that? And they're 13th overall😭

Not to forget the mission 1000. I've been a fan of the hydrogen truck since it was first presented at Dakar and I love that more and more people test their alternatively powered vehicles there.

Last but not least probably my favorite part about this year's Dakar (alongside Martin, Carlos and Christina winning). The best friendship in the bivouac: Daniel Sanders and Matthias Walkner. Matthias couldn't compete this year because of a very bad injury (get well soon, my guy) and at first Daniel just posted things about how he'll miss his camper buddy, but when he got there, he stuffed one of Matthias' racing suits and acted like he was talking to him. And he posted a video doing that every single fucking day😭😭😭😭

Really these two are so cute.

I already think Franco is super funny... sad to know that he would probably come off as even funnier if everyone spoke Spanish. So interesting to hear more about the influence from other languages and the strong preference for sarcasm!

Question for Spanish speaking F1blr-- non Spanish speakers (such as myself) are def missing out on the nuanced differences in accents and dialects between Spanish speaking drivers. What do you pick up from the way Spanish speakers like Fernando, Carlos, Checo, and Franco talk? (Ex. Fernando is from a working class background, while Carlos is upper class and seemingly old money-- does that come through in the way they speak? Do Franco and Checo have regional accents from within their home countries, and have they changed their Spanish to sound more European after living abroad? Do any of them use fun country specific slang?)

Anyway, hoping this turns into the sequel of the British accent post because I love hearing about sociolinguistics. Though this may be more difficult since obviously the Hispanic world is a lot bigger than the UK.

Las clasificaciones del Energy X-Prix de Extreme E fueron llenas de emociones e incidentes en Uruguay: Veloce fue el mejor del día, Rosberg y X44 sufren

En lo que fue el día de clasificaciones más incidentado de la temporada 2022 de Extreme E y probablemente de la historia de la categoría, los favoritos a llevarse el título Rosberg X Racing sufrieron accidentes en ambas sesiones y deberán correr la Crazy Race para buscar a la Final. Las cosas no anduvieron mejor para X44, que sufrió un fuertísimo accidente con Cristina Gutiérrez en la Qualy 1 y debió usar el auto de la categoría en la Qualy 2, por lo que se lo tomaron con mucha calma e igualmente estarán en la Crazy Race. El resultado de esa carrera con alta probabilidad definirá al campeón de la categoría. 

Fuera de la lucha por el título, Veloce Racing debutó su nueva dupla en configuración 2023 con el mejor resultado acumulado en clasificación. Molly Taylor y Kevin Hansen inmediatamente demostraron porque son de los mejores pilotos de la categoría y con una P2 en la Qualy 1 y una victoria en el Heat 2 de la Qualy 2 lograron la mayor cantidad de puntos.

Acciona Sainz con Laia Sanz y Carlos Sainz fue segundo en el día luego de ser el equipo más rápido en la Qualy 1 contra el reloj y terminar en segunda posición el Heat 1 de la Qualy 2 detrás del Andretti United (Catie Munnings / Timmy Hansen), que volvió a tener un buen día y demostrar que están en el grupo de punta para el finde en Uruguay. La dupla Munnings - Hansen quedó tercera en el acumulado y estará en Semi Finales.

La Qualy 1 fue la sesión más accidentada del año con tres vuelcos en diferentes partes de la pista: Hedda Hosas del JBXE fue la primera en sufrirlo, a continuación se accidentó Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky del Rosberg X Racing y finalmente, Cristina Gutiérrez del X44, en el golpe más fuerte de todos. X44 debió tomar prestado el auto muleto y eso complicará fuertemente su fin de semana.

En la Qualy 2 la suerte no mejoró para Rosberg X Racing que luego de una buena largada de Johan Kristoffersson se ubicaba primero solo para ser chocado por atrás por Nasser Al-Attiyah del ABT Cupra. Los daños hicieron que el auto de Rosberg abandonara terminando con increíbles 0 puntos de Qualy en el acumulado y condenado a la Crazy Race. Si bien ABT Cupra cruzó primero la meta en ese Heat gracias a un adelantamiento espectacular de Klara Andersson sobre Molly Taylor, recibieron un castigo de 30 segundos que los dejó cuartos en el Heat. Pese a ello, mañana estarán en Semi Finales.

La Crazy Race entre X44, Rosberg X Racing, Xite Energy Racing y JBXE solamente entregará un cupo a la Final y el título podría definirse en esa prueba.
