WEBSITES HELPFUL TO WRITERS This is a series of posts which, I think, will be beneficial to writers. But first, I would like to include my usual warning about using websites. Whenever you check a website you are, in my opinion and I talk from experience, being put on a list for sale. So, expect the possibility of being bombarded by ads from companies you, perhaps, have never…

We're all here thinking that Anne likes pirate girls because of that Chibi crossover episode, but what about that one flashback with Sasha dressed as Captain Hook in a school play? THAT is more likely to have sparked that kink for her, especially since it was one of her 2 future lovers wearing it.
since the chibi short was for Anne and the Plantars at the Pirates of the Caribbian ride, Anne and her friends would've been born around 2006 (if Anne is 13 in 2019 when the show premired) then the 2nd Pirates movie would've just come out and so the Trio would've grown up watching them as kids. It's likely she might've had something awoken in her then (Kiera Knightley as Elizabeth Swan aka the Pirate Queen and wife of the future Davey Jones aka Will Turner, would def be one of her crushes).
I could see a moment of "I have a crush on Elizabeth" "...me?" "what? I was talking about Elizabeth Swan, from the Pirates movies" "oh...I thought you saying you loved me." "Your name isn't Elizabeth" "It's my middle name" "oh...I mean, I do love you but your not a pirate" "Hey girls, the theater club is doing auditions for Peter Pan, They still need Pan and Captain Hook" "That role is mine!!" "????"

Hobie Brown x Violin player?!
GUYS HOW IS EVERYONE SLEEPING ON THIS?
hobie could be like: violins are soo clasical and boring blahblajblah and then reader would shut him the fuck up "he's a pirate" from the pirates of the caribbian style. he would instantly fall in love after that obviously.
OR
hobie could have a guilty pleasure of liking classical/orcestra music (test drive from HTTRD would be a favorite of his im sure) and reader shows him he can still be badass with classical music by dueting roundtable rival with reader kjdngejkngoerhe
WHY DOES THIS FACFICTION NOT EXIST YET? IM TIRED OF DRUMIST/GUITARIST/BASE READERS MAKE SOMETHING ORIGINAL-

Alright hoes im about to rant my thoughts about the first episode of OPLA rn
Okay, so, after watching the first episode i can conclude a few things. This is not going to follow the manga to a T, which is a good thing in my opinion, I doubt the live action could be good while doing that.
First off, the set design is immaculate, it looks amazing and it fits well. It really captures the vibe of like a caribbian pirate island area and it works, theyve made places like makinos bar a lot more open, and that works well for the vibe that the show is going for. Shells town also seems to have been made much larger than it is in the manga, and the aerial views of it look great.
Second, the fighting and combat choreography also looks great, its fun, its dynamic, and theres a lot of movement, that works well with the so far open areas. Though in my opinion the weakest fighting scene in this episode was the one against Alvida.
Third, the actors and costumes look great, captain morgan somehow feels a bit intomidating even knowing what kind of character he is in the manga. Inaki captures a lot of the sillyness of Luffy while also making him fir a live action version a bit more. Mackenyu captures the first introduced seriousness of Zoro exceptionally well, while also in a few scenes giving us a hint of the true dumbass Zoro is, and as mentioned earlier, his fighting skill and movement really sell Zoro (im sorry his choreo is just so amazing, given that he has actual sword fighting training). Emily captures Nami's seriousness great, and we briefly get to see her sarcastic and more teasing nature, though i wish we had gotten a bit more, i understand the situation in the episode didnt quite call for it.
Garp is fun, and having him introduced so early is strange but i hope it will work out. They capture Gold Rogers character in such a fun way, truely laughing till the end.
Some scenes do stick out to me as a bit strange, but i suspect thats just because I am a manga reader. And even then there are still a lot of great easter eggs for manga readers.
Tbh there were just some scenes that didnt feel too great to me, but theyre (so far) so few and far inbetween that i can deal with it.
All in all, i would reccomend it, just know its not going to be excactly like the anime or manga, and thats a good thing.

My thoughts on the Netflix One Piece
Spoilers *duh*
First of all: This is my opinion and I'm no professional at this so calm down, cupcakes.
When I first saw the trailer of Netflix' One Piece adaptation and by that I mean the very first concept trailer, which has shown Enel, Puffing Tom and so on, I really was hyped.
About my person: I am not a huge One Piece fan, I like the whole Alabasta arc and the arc with the sea trains the most and usually love the first seasons, bc that's what I saw on TV, when I was young and had time. So I can roughly tell the story, but don't know it episode by episode, like one of my best friends.
So now the short version: I enjoyed it.
The long version:
I think they picked the right actors for their respective roles. Buggy was played so well, I straight up believed, he must be acted by a former actor from joker. The characters over all don't feel that far off from what I remember of their animated counter parts. Sometimes it feels a bit off, bc they cramped the story so much, that there are missing parts of character development.
As Example: The last "Nami ❤️♥️❤️♥️😍!!!" from Sanji after Arlongs fight is so weird, bc firstly he never done that to any other female like in the anime and secondly, they went very well with the whole cool romantic character, they have given him and destroyed it in that moment.
Speaking of Nami, her complete backround arc was too short, in my opinion. It's more like they had a checklist and ✔️ off every major thing.
The scene, where the little girl brings food to Zoro, while he is tied in the yard of the marine base also is completly missing and parts of the friendship development between Ruffy and Corby are left out.
Also while most of the costumes look fine and they even change them up a little, bc of realism, the hat of Garp ... who made this? Just use a real modelled dog hat next time, it's ridiculous.
I could go on and on.
So now, why do I still have enjoyed it and watched it two times?
As I said, I am not a huge One Piece fan. After 2 episodes, I tried to see it as another Netflix series like Stranger Things. And as so as you can do that, it's pretty good.
Most of the cons came to my mind, bc I know the original. There are people, who never watched and will watch an anime. Some of them are my colleagues and my work-bestfriend is a 63 year old woman and film- and series enjoyer, which totally enjoyes NF One Piece, bc she doesn't know the anime.
And this is fine.
I really love the acting, like the story is shortened, but not that short, that it's not understandable. They basically concentrated on the core and put their money on visiuals like the fishmen, which gave me Pirates of the Caribbian vibes tbh.
So what is my conclusion?
Just don't force the anime on people. Don't attack them, bc you are a super-fan and One Piece seems holy to you.
And don't tell them spoilers!
Everyone now can enjoy One Piece in their favourite format and like it's the first time and that is just fine by me.

Like yoga, Tai Chi is an ancient method of wellbeing that works at both a physical and mental level. Chinese in its origin it is a form of co-ordinated body movements focusing on the cultivation of internal energy ‘chi’. The aim is to harmonise the mind, body and spirit, promoting both mental and physical wellbeing through relaxation.

On Reggae as a part of the inner landscape
On Reggae as a part of the inner landscape
Reggae is a key expression of the Rastafarian inner landscape. As a product which stands on its own merit, reggae is often conceived as divorced from the core Rastafari space and purpose. However, Nettleford reminded us that reggae exists because of Rastafari. He stated: I keep telling people that reggae or ska right through to dancehall appropriated the Rastafarian movement, not the other way…

This past 20th of December, I went to a very special place for two nights. This place was Casa en el Agua, located in the San Bernardo Islands on the Caribbean coast of…

Florida playlist
Tumblr media
Are they still counting the votes in Florida, Nevada and...speaking of Florida. I made a Florida playlist and last Xmas, I updated it, added songs to it for my trip across the state. I visited Daddy Kool Records in Saint Petersburg, Wax Records in Vero Beach and St Pete Records. But in the hire car, this was my playlist across Florida. Made the road trip that much more awesome. Not to mention a fabulous meal at Nicko McBrain’s Rock n Ribs!
