💎🍚Eyes on you, eyes on me
Title from Eyes on you (SEVENTEEN)
Summary: While playing a game Jeonghan gets hurt. Jihoon blames himself. - A rewriting of Day 21: "Let's play a game" from Woozi’s perspective.
CW: injury, guilt
Whumpee: Woozi/Jihoon (+ Jeonghan) Caretakers: Hoshi/Soonyoung + Wonwoo
Let’s play a game, they said. It’ll be fun, they said.
Jihoon was most definitely not having fun. Not even in the slightest.
He had long overcome any insecurities surrounding his height, knowing it would be his downfall if he let it get to him. Most of the time it didn’t bother him that he was shorter than most male idols, even some female ones. He’d been able to brush it off with grace, enduring the bit of teasing that wasn’t worse than what Mingyu received for his clumsiness, Seungcheol got hit with just for being the (albeit very pouty) leader and Dino because he was the maknae.
So normally he didn’t mind and he wasn’t about to start getting insecure now.
If anything though, he was angry. Angry at the staff that had hung the signs for the Chaos game this Going Episode just out of his reach. They should have taken his height into consideration, just like people considered that Jun, Minghao and Joshua sometimes couldn’t follow very fast conversation and game explanations or considered the injuries any member had at times.
And he was angry at Hoshi who kept teasing him. He knew deep down that his best friend didn’t mean it at all, in fact he was probably trying to make the episode fun and simultaneously trying to lighten the mood seeing how Jihoon was getting more and more worked up. But right now, it didn’t help Jihoon in the slightest. In fact, it made it worse.
“Should I get you a box to stand upon?”, Soonyoung asked cheekily, winking at Jihoon.
Yeah. Funny.
“Leave it, Soonyoung”, Jihoon mumbled, feeling his nerves fraying.
It was going to be a humiliating episode for him for sure. And he hated getting humiliated unlike Mingyu and DK who he was sure had some form of humiliation kink. Okay, damn, his thoughts were really falling apart.
Even worse, his whole team was probably going to be the butt of Carat’s jokes soon. Vernon, oblivious as fuck, barely was any help and Jeonghan, their only hope, had gotten caught by their general leader when he had tried to cheat.
“Come on, you normally don’t care about being vertically challenged”, Hoshi teased further.
Something in Jihoon snapped at his words. Why couldn’t Soonyoung read the room and leave him alone?
“Go screw yourself”, he snarled, not caring at all that the whole part would need to be edited out due to his use of curse words. He was rather glad.
He wasn’t proud of his actions, of shoving his shoulder into Soonyoung’s chest as he stomped past, but at the moment he couldn’t care less about the hurt look he saw on the dancer’s face.
💎
He stood by the stairs leading down to the ground floor, taking deep calming breaths so he wouldn’t snap at another member or staff, when he saw the sign with the number 17 high up by the stairs. Wait, that was the number their team was looking for!
There was no way Jihoon was going to be able to reach that. He didn’t even need to test if he could reach it by standing on his tip-toes. It was much too high. He’d have to bite the bullet of asking for help.
Ashamed with how he had treated Hoshi, he knew that he couldn’t keep holding onto the anger boiling inside him. It was a team game and he was a team player. After taking another deep breath he called out for his Jeonghan-hyung.
If anything Jihoon knew he needed Jeonghan to keep him in line should he get snappish again and he wouldn’t take it to heart like Vernon might. Since both of them were the same height it didn’t matter anyways.
When his hyung approached, Jihoon helplessly gestured up at the sign out of reach.
Jeonghan actually groaned and mumbled: “I hate this game.”
That was just plain unfair. He didn’t get to be pouty too. Right now, Jihoon felt like he deserved to be the only one complaining. He crossed his arms over his chest aching with guilt and annoyance.
“You’re telling me that?”
Jihoon was stunned when he felt Jeonghan patting his head, cooing at him. It was plain rude and he was starting to feel angry again. He understood it was for fan service, yes, and that this section might need to be on camera since they were about to actually do something. Besides, he had already ruined one shot. So to keep himself from cursing at the older, he hit him - maybe a bit harder than strictly necessary - to satisfy his need for violence.
Even then all Jeonghan said was: “Cute.”
Okay. Two could play this game.
“You’re just pissed that you were caught cheating”, Jihoon said.
“I am not”, Jeonghan lied. Jihoon was sure of it. “Only that Seungcheol betrayed me like this.”
Yeah, that had been very unfair of the general leader, Jihoon had to admit to it. Jeonghan may have broken the rules, but again their team consisted of lazy Jeonghan, short Jihoon and confused Vernon while tall Seungcheol had annoying Hoshi and fucking tower Mingyu. It was deserved extra help.
As always Seungcheol started to pout when he heard his full name, yelling: “Hey. Stop pouting. You deserved that!” all across the house.
“Shut up”, Jihoon and Jeonghan called back.
Jihoon crossed his arms again, seeing that Jeonghan followed his example. Now that Jihoon saw Jeonghan stand next to him he felt a bit better. There also was no way that Jeonghan could reach that paper. It made Jihoon feel a bit better about himself, though he would never admit it.
After staring at it for a few moments, Jihoon’s patience ran out. “What are we gonna do about that?”
“I suppose, I could try balancing?”, Jeonghan suggested.
Did his hyung have a death wish? Jihoon whirled around to stare him down, disbelief cursing through his veins. How did Jeonghan think that would go?
“Are you crazy? You’ll fall.”
“I won’t.”
💎
Jihoon was about to reply something along the lines of “mighty last words” when Jeonghan just stepped forwards and stood on his tip-toes to reach the paper. His fingertips were nearly comically far away.
“Hold me”, he ordered and grasped onto Jihoon’s hand before he had even the slightest chance to tell his hyung how big of an idiot he was. All he could do was beg him to stop.
“Hyung, don’t!”, he called out, unashamed of his voice slightly trembling. Jeonghan was crazy. They were on the top of a long flight of stairs. If there was one thing the active toddler in him remembered was his parents telling him to never mess around with stairs. You could break your neck, sweetie, or worse. Be careful, please!
Jeonghan, apparently, never had had that particular lecture. He probably had been too lazy to be running around stairs as a child already. But at least common sense from the smarter than average man should tell him it was a terrible horrible idea. Yet, he just held onto Jihoon and edged further and further over the abyss below.
“Hyung!”
Jihoon held tighter onto him, not willing to let his friend fall. His palms were sweaty and he could practically feel Jeonghan slip further away from him. He may have started working out a few weeks ago but that didn’t mean he could already hold onto a grown-ass man, a grown-ass man much bigger than him no less. Especially not on top of stairs.
“Hyung!”
Jeonghan grabbed onto the paper and for a moment it seemed like maybe Jihoon had been a bit too overly cautious and that they would succeed after all. But then, as Jeonghan tore off the paper, it wasn't enough. No matter how hard Jihoon tried to pull them back up, he wasn’t strong enough. Not to save both of them.
“HYUNG!”, he screamed, their hands torn apart. For a moment Jeonghan’s face seemed frozen in front of him, various emotions painted on his face. Surprise. Shock. Fear. Desperation. Then he fell.
💎
Jihoon’s knees exploded in pain as he fell forward, only his body’s instinct to lean backward stopping him from falling down the stairs as well.
When he managed to recover from the shock of pain all he could see was his hyung - his loving, doting, smart, amazing, kind, gentle, sweet, helpful, mischievous hyung - laying broken at the bottom of the stairs, managers, staff, members crowding him and then hiding him from Jihoon’s sight.
He couldn’t control the scream that was torn from his throat.
All Jihoon wanted to do was rush down the stairs to Jeonghan, check on him, see if he was … alive. He surely was alive, wasn’t he?
You could break your neck, sweetie, or worse.
Jihoon couldn’t move, no matter how much he wanted. It was like he was rooted to the spot, frozen to the ground, set in stone. Everything was blurry.
💎
Suddenly strong arms wrapped around his chest and pulled him back, causing him to fall backwards and collapse into the person. He gasped, throat raw, and then he blinked up at the person.
His blurred sight - it was only then when he tasted the salty tears on his tongue that he realised he was crying - showed he was cradled in Wonwoo’s lap, the older man holding him tightly. Next to him sat Soonyoung who looked about as scared as Jihoon felt, but much more determined.
“Jihoon-ah?”, Soonyoung asked gently and held onto Jihoon’s hand.
For a moment Jihoon swore he could feel Jeonghan’s hand slipping from his again.
“Jihoon-ah? Are you injured? Does something hurt?”, Soonyoung asked and when Jihoon could only stare at him, chest heaving, he cupped Jihoon’s cheek in his hand, his thumb wiping away the tears.
Normally Jihoon would have killed Soonyoung for even thinking about doing anything like this but right now it was the most comforting thing in the world.
Slowly he shook his head. The pain in his knees had lessened mostly and he knew there was nothing they could do against the bruises there.
“Jeonghannie-hyung?”, he asked instead, before he was even aware he would ask the question, “is he okay?”
Wonwoo and Soonyoung exchanged a glance that made the blood freeze in Jihoon’s veins. “Please, is he okay?”
“Jihoonie”, Wonwoo finally said and held him tighter, “we don’t know yet. But paramedics are on the way and the others are taking care of hyung right now. We should focus on you.”
Take care of him? Jihoon didn’t understand. He was fine.
“You’re not fine, baby”, Soonyoung said with a sad smile, “you’re pretty scared, huh? I think you may be experiencing a bit of shock right now.”
All Jihoon could do was nod. He didn’t have the strength to lie and he did feel pretty shocked.
Suddenly Soonyoung let go of him. Jihoon gasped, not wanting to lose the contact. He didn’t want to lose Soonyoung too.
“Hey, hey”, Soonyoung said, sounding a bit further away, “I’m not leaving you. I’m just gonna elevate your legs for a bit, okay? Just until you feel a bit better. Just breathe, okay?”
Jihoon nodded and closed his eyes. Soonyoung’s hands were warm against his calves and he was not only elevating his legs, he was soothingly patting Jihoon’s ankle, giving him something to focus on. His head was still resting in Wonwoo’s lap and only now did he notice that Wonwoo was gently stroking his hair and softly humming a song.
Ulgo sipji ana
💎
Jihoon let the older members take care of him for once. His heart still hadn’t stopped pounding in his chest and he noticed he was shivering. He was terrified, shocked like Soonyoung had said. He couldn’t bring himself to move, to look, to go to Jeonghan for now. He was too scared of what he would see. He didn’t want to lose Jeonghan. He didn’t think he could ever stop the self-blame if something bad had happened. Why hadn’t he been stronger?
It took a while for Jihoon to stop crying and trembling. It passed like the blink of an eye, an eternity at the same time. Slowly Wonwoo helped him sit up, Jihoon’s back against his chest.
“Breathe, Jihoon-ah.” The producer could hear the older’s chest rumble as he spoke in his gentle, kind voice. “You’re okay. Hannie-hyung will be okay too.”
You don’t know that, Jihoon wanted to shoot back. But he couldn’t bring himself to speak the words.
You could break your neck, sweetie, or worse.
“I want to see hyung”, Jihoon said, his voice more determined than he felt. “I need to see hyung.”
“Okay”, Soonyoung replied gently and let go of Jihoon’s legs, “let’s go.”
He stood up and reached his hands down to help Jihoon up. With Wonwoo’s hand on his back and Soonyoung holding his hands, Jihoon shakily got to his feet. His knees buckled a bit under him but he managed to stay standing.
Soonyoung never let go of Jihoon as they slowly walked down the stairs together, Jihoon’s gaze fixed on the steps. He didn’t know how he would react when he saw Jeonghan and he didn’t want to cause Soonyoung to fall down the stairs too if he freaked out.
💎
Once they were at the bottom of the stairs, Jihoon noticed that the bubble of people surrounding Jeonghan was gone. Instead only Minghao was kneeling by their hyung’s side. The younger member was stroking away the tears on Jeonghan’s face. Jihoon didn’t know if they came from pain or shock. Some strands of hair stuck to Jeonghan’s cheeks that Minghao carefully peeled away, gentle as always. For a moment Jihoon could only watch. Jeonghan looked much more peaceful than he had imagined but it was still scary to see him so still.
“Please be more careful, hyung”, Minghao whispered, “it was terrifying. I was taking a break and was watching you and Woozi-hyung. Seeing you fall so suddenly … I … you really scared us today.”
Jihoon swallowed. He hadn’t even had thought about what the situation would do to the other members - he had only thought of Jeonghan and himself. He imagined it must have been so scary, maybe the suddenness of it all even more so than to Jihoon who was involved in the situation.
“I’m sorry, Eissa. I didn’t think”, Jeonghan mumbled. But Jihoon couldn’t believe the next words his self-sacrificing idiot of a hyung said “Are the others okay?”
He didn’t hesitate to interject, stepping forward, away from Soonyoung. His voice came out less angry than he had imagined, weaker than intended.
“So much is clear. That you didn’t think, I mean. Do you know how terrifying it was to feel your hand slip out of my grip and see you fall?”
Jihoon sat down and wrapped an arm around Minghao who had startled at his sudden appearance, letting the scared younger member rest against him. Even if Minghao was acting strong, Jihoon could see how he was scared and he wasn’t as heartless as some people thought him to be.
Only then did he finally look at Jeonghan, barely able to meet his eyes. I wish I could have saved you, hyung. I wish I had been stronger.
“I’m sorry, Jihoon-ah”, Jeonghan apologized quietly. “I never wanted to make you go through that.”
Jihoon didn’t really want to hear the apology. He didn’t think he could accept it yet. He knew he should have been stronger. But he also knew Jeonghan never should have played with his health, his safety like this. As loath as Jihoon was to admit it - this was Jeonghan’s fault in a way. He had decided to play. He had trusted Jihoon to hold him - and Jihoon had failed him - but still it had been his decision in the beginning to even try the stunt.
“I know, hyung. Please don’t be so reckless in the future”, Jihoon just said. I’m sorry.
But he couldn’t say those last words, because suddenly the door was flung open and paramedics rushed into the room. Jihoon squeezed Jeonghan’s hand tightly, hoping it conveyed the apology, and stepped back. Immediately Soonyoung was there, wrapping him in his arms again.
💎
Now all they could do was wait and hope that their Jeonghan would be fine.

Sicktember Day 15: "Who decided __ is sick people food?"
Fandom: Seventeen
Sickie: Mingyu (cold)
Caregiver(s): Wonwoo
Word Count: 817
Notes: Better late than never!!! Based very, very lightly on the last time I was majorly sick, and called my mom in tears, and she brought me three different flavors of soft serve ice cream from Dairy Queen: one to eat while she was there, and two for later. Cheers, Mom! Also, there's a follow up to this for Day 19... which is still in the works...
The thing about being roommates for so long was that there were absolutely no secrets between them anymore. So when Mingyu’s attempted to squirm away from Wonwoo when the older rapper hugged him upon returning home from a solo photoshoot, it was the last red flag Wonwoo needed to conclude that his best friend was indeed sick.
He’d had his suspicions since he’d woken up (he’d had the pleasure of hearing Mingyu toss and turn and sniffle all night, perks of being roommates), but had waited for further confirmation to confront Mingyu about it. Because an unwell Mingyu was a stubborn Mingyu; confront him too early, and he’d refuse all help. And Mingyu was the type of patient who required the help of others. For as thoughtful as he was when it was someone else in need, he was hopeless bad at self care.
So Wonwoo needed to tread carefully here.
“Heeey,” he singsonged after Mingyu had wiggled out his embrace. He casually moved towards his own bed, taking off his jacket and sitting down to remove his shoes. “How are you?” He kept his voice cool.
Mingyu chuckled, shaking his head. “I’m fine, same as last time I saw you, what, three hours ago?” One of Wonwoo’s eyebrows arched skeptically at the sound of Mingyu’s huskier than usual, definitely congested voice. The younger man smiled like nothing was wrong. “How are you? How was the shoot?”
Wonwoo waved him off. “Same old, same old. You know that’s not what I meant.”
Mingyu rolled his eyes. “You’re so dramatic.” He looked off down at the floor, hands shoved in his pockets of his sweatpants. He had his shoulders hunched every so slightly. Conserving warmth, Wonwoo noted.
“Nah, I don’t think it’s weird when you were up half the night.” Mingyu’s attention snapped back to Wonwoo, his face melting into the most pitiful look of guilt. Wonwoo withheld the smile from his face. “We share a room, Gyu. I always know.”
Mingyu shivered, and Wonwoo clicked his tongue, patting the space next to him on his bed. Mingyu, surprisingly, rose from his desk chair and sat down next to Wonwoo, allowing himself to be pulled against Wonwoo’s side, head on his shoulder.
“You want my hoodie?” Wonwoo asked, voice quiet for only Mingyu to hear.
Mingyu shook his head. “Then you’ll be cold…”
Wonwoo rolled his eyes. “I’ll be fine, dummy. I’m not the one running a fever.”
“I’m not…”
“I can feel your skin, love. You’re running hot.”
“I’m always hot.” Mingyu squealed when Wonwoo pinched his side. “Am I wrong, though?” Wonwoo rolled his eyes, pulling Mingyu closer as the younger boy giggled at his own joke. Mingyu’s body remained tense against him. “You’re gonna get sick too.”
“Babe. We share a room and you’re allergic to covering your mouth. I’m getting sick whether I like it or not. And pouting about it isn’t going to change that.” Mingyu quickly schooled his expression, Wonwoo smirking affectionately and pinching his cheek, much to Mingyu’s dismay. But the younger man did finally accept Wonwoo’s embrace, melting against his shoulder. They sat in silence for a bit, Mingyu mindlessly playing with a string on his sweatpants as Wonwoo simply existed in the moment.
Their quiet time was broken by a knock at the door.
“Wonwoo-ah?”
They looked up to see Hoshi leaning around the doorway with two bowls of… ice cream?
“What’s going on?” Mingyu asked, eyeing the dance leader suspiciously as he drew closer after Wonwoo nodded at him.
“Wonwoo texted that you weren’t feeling well, and asked me to bring you something to make you feel better.” As Hoshi explained, he held out one of the small bowls of plain vanilla ice cream.
Mingyu looked down at the bowl, then up at Wonwoo. “Since when is ice cream ‘sick people food?’”
The older man shrugged. “Since forever.”
“But isn’t ice cream bad for your throat?”
“Only if you’re singing. But it’s actually really good for when you have a sore throat.” Wonwoo smiled. He touched his own throat for emphasis. “The milk coats everything, and the cold soothes the pain. My parents always let me have a little ice cream when I wasn’t feeling well, so I can personally vouch for its healing powers.”
“I second that prescription,” Soonyoung said. He gave the bowl a tiny shake, prompting Mingyu to take it. “A little sugar never hurt nobody.” Mingyu finally took the ice cream from Soonyoung, taking a tiny, careful bite. Soonyoung then held the second bowl out to Wonwoo, promising he’d be right back with his own bowl.
“Thank you, Woo,” Mingyu said softly as soon as Hoshi had ducked out of the room.
Wonwoo smiled. “Anytime, love. Just promise to be nice to me when I inevitably catch this.”
“Deal.” Mingyu held up his bowl, and Wonwoo tapped it in their own personal cheers.

˚ ༘♡ 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬/𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦
― the moment in which the seventeen members find out their significant other hid their injury from them
Tumblr media
s.coups
first of all - the chance of cheol not knowing you got hurt is this big 🤏🏻 mans somehow knows everything when it comes to you, even if he’s overseas he. still. knows. he would be… i don’t want to say disappointed in you not telling him, because you’re still your own person and he cannot tell you what to do, but… he just cares about you so much, truly. the thought of you hurt or in pain without him knowing is heartbreaking to cheol. he’s a caretaker through and through, especially for his significant other - there’s nothing seungcheol wouldn’t do for them. at the same time, though, he feels so proud to have a partner that is so strong.
jeonghan
the second he finds out you got hurt or injured jeonghan becomes quite passive aggressive. he’s not necessarily angry with you, it’s just that… what wouldn’t you tell him? he’s your boyfriend, he’s supposed to be next to you and care for you when you need it. you do the same for him, so why would you push him away? hannie understands that sometimes you just need your space, and everyone is different when it comes to being sick and in pain, but he’d still be a bit hurt by you not telling him. at the end of the day, he’d try to talk to you, though, and explain why it was so important to him to know.
joshua
it’s not that he’s angry, more like disappointed (all that disappointment, though, doesn’t come from pettiness or anger, but care and love). he gets that people react differently to getting injured, but still - he’s your boyfriend, and a boyfriend that cares a lot at that. shua always respects all of your decisions, no matter what, but when you get hurt and don’t tell him… you might not see it as important enough, but to him, your well-being and comfort is all that matters. he can’t imagine how you must’ve felt going through all of that alone, and yes, he gets that that was what you wanted, but still.
jun
tries his best not to show how it affects him, when he finds out about your injury, but fails miserably. jun is a bit disappointed that you didn’t tell him first things first, because he’d be more than happy to take care of you (and he’d have the perfect opportunity to be extra clingy). would be unusually pouty and whiny after, waddling after you at any given moment and asking you “why? why didn’t you tell him?”. was it because you didn’t trust him and his caretaker abilities, did you think it wasn’t big enough of a deal to tell him about, or maybe you saw your injury as a burden? he needs to know or else he won’t be able to fall asleep.
hoshi
you don’t want to keep something as serious as an injury from soonyoung, because the second he finds out you got hurt AND didn’t think about telling him, he gives you the silent treatment + becomes so hard to deal with. he can be petty when he’s in a good mood, so imagine how he’d be behaving after finding out. hoshi gets so frustrated because why wouldn’t you tell him? it’s a whole ass injury, not a scratch, there’s nothing that could excuse you from not telling him. he’s aware he’s not the best with taking care of injuries, but that doesn’t matter he wouldn't do his absolute best. just… tell him next time.
wonwoo
he can feel his eye twitch when he finds out about your injury. it gets even worse when you tell him it wasn’t that big of a deal and he shouldn't worry. immediate game over for jeon wonwoo. you might think he wouldn’t get as annoyed by it as other members who are more outwardly affectionate… WRONG + he doesn’t consider himself the overprotective type, ALSO WRONG. wonwoo is a man who lives for you and your comfort even if he doesn’t see that himself, so the fact that you didn’t bother to tell him about something as big as an literal injury??? JAIL!!! will cross his arms and stump his feet to make a point.
woozi
he understands that for you it might be a small thing, your injury, that you don't see it as something important enough to tell him about, but… it’d still kind of hurt jihoon if you didn’t tell him? like, on one hand he’s so enchanted by you because you're so independent and strong and willing to go through your pain alone, but on second he’s your boyfriend. he might not be the most obvious with how he shows his love and physical touch and outward words of affirmation, but he still cares. a lot. he wants to take care of you, he wants to keep you warm and as comfy as he can, so please don’t brush off matters like that.
dk
at first he’s very confused when he finds out that you got injured, because that can’t be true, right? you’d immediately tell him if you got hurt, 100%. but when seokmin realises that your injury was not a cruel joke he nearly cries. why, why on earth wouldn’t you tell him? and it crushes him so much - you, in pain, without him by your side to hold your hand through it all. he’s quite a mess afterwards, trying to gather his emotions. because he has to get through to you and try to explain how much it hurt him that you didn’t tell him. even if you refuse his help, he just needs to know, that’s all.
mingyu
there’s a hit of annoyance in gyu when he finds out that you got hurt and didn’t tell him. like… you’re well aware of how big of a caretaker mingyu is, and how important acts of service are for him, and yet you decide to hide the injury from him. why? he understands that a part of you might think of yourself as a burden, but he has told you numerous times how happy it makes him when you ask him for help, even with the smallest things. but you’re still pushing him away? it’s just - it’s so gut wrenching when he finds out that you had to suffer on your own and he didn’t know.
the8
huh, so you don’t believe in his healing abilities? hao becomes extremely petty, because no one’s better at being a certified nurse than him (not even a real nurse), and with you not telling him he feels like you don’t trust him enough to take care of you properly. he genuinely likes to take care of his loved ones, he doesn’t mind being the housewife, and he definitely doesn't think you’re a burden because of your injury, so why would you hide it? after he finds out he sits you down and has a talk with you - hao tries to explain his point of view and how it made him feel when you didn’t tell him, and why you shouldn’t hide things like that from him.
seungkwan
gets so so so petty, oh my god. huh, so you, his girlfriend, didn’t tell him, your boyfriend, you got hurt? you just didn’t? yeah, not on boo seungkwan’s watch. why on earth wouldn’t you call him first things first? he’s your literal boyfriend, it’s his duty and privilege to take care of you, keep you warm and loved, no matter what. and he doesn’t want to hear that “but i don’t want to be a burden” shit, because you. are. not. and you could never be one. so you’re trying to tell him you were hurt and alone while he was living his best life? he’d make sure to talk to you and make you swear you’d tell him next time a situation like that would occur.
vernon
on one hand he understands that you might not see the injury as something big enough to tell him, like - he has gotten hurt in the past and didn’t tell you either, but… it’d be nice if you did. vernon is not sure why he’s bothered by you not telling him, usually he’s very okay with most of your decisions, but a part of him is scared that the reason you hid the injury is because of you thinking he won’t care. yes, he might not be the best at taking care of people and prefers being the one taken care of, but you’re his partner and vernon will do anything he can to take the best care of you.
dino
his heart drops when he finds out you got injured and didn’t tell him. chan thrives on helping and taking care of his loved ones, he doesn’t care if he has to pull another all nighter just to make someone else happy - he does it with great joy. so when his partner, the apple of his eye, hides their injury from him? it hurts. it hurts deeply. there’s a part of him that feels betrayed, and he cannot help but think if you don’t trust him enough to care for you when you’re in need. chan knows that those thoughts and his reaction are a bit dramatic, but it’s the caretaker in him that just cannot live it down.

scream : the death of a nympho (m)
Tumblr media
Pairing: ghostface!seungcheol x ghostface!wonwoo x afab!reader

The town has witnessed its fair share of bloodshed, with pages upon pages of stories about murders staining its history since its settlement. Transplants from the past couple of decades knew of the Ghostface murders, had experienced their horrors, and were relieved to finally learn the identities of what they believed to be the only culprits, known by the nicknames BL and SM. What they didn’t seem to grasp was that there was a lineage—a deep-rooted legacy that would take the eradication of many Ghostfaces to completely sever.
One that has yet to happen. But now there was another problem.
With nothing left but their dread, the townies embraced twisted ways of coping. They chased oblivion in reckless sex and drugs, feeding a festering culture of heightening promiscuity and sexual deviants to businesses catering to their darkest urges. But this decay only primed the ground for blood, making it easier to spill.
The Ghostfaces, known privately among themselves as the Spirituals, saw it as their duty to cleanse the town. In their eyes, there was no room for the filth that seemed to taint their almost perfect town, and so they took matters into their own hands, delivering judgment on their own terms.
Seungcheol took after his father, who was currently detained after being caught serving judgment to the town’s notorious transplant mayor, infamous for his monthly group-sex gatherings. Now, as the head of the Spirituals, Seungcheol was determined to continue following his father’s creed, not once forgetting the scripture carved into him as a child.
Whereas Wonwoo took after his mother, a caretaker of many children within their society's education system who had fallen in sacrifice for the greater good. Now the right-hand man to the leader of the Spirituals, once a soldier and now captain to many of its followers, he knew nothing but how to uphold and worship the Spirituals' beliefs.
They were a duo not to be reckoned with—the youngest in history to hold the highest possible ranks, and the most effective at slaying the vermin of the town. Unmatched to even their predecessors. If they wanted something to happen, they knew just how to do it.
Their targets had a history of overlooking them, their spry bodies and youthful faces seeming harmless to anyone they encountered—until their daggers found the light under a bright moon. They killed victim after victim, and were careful to not have a single clue that could be traced back to them or the society. It was the perfect ruse, ideal for victims like you.
Fresh-faced and eager to start your next chapter, you arrived in town for college and had stayed ever since. You’d dated here and there, with more than the occasional fling—so the thought of the murders never really intimidated you. As an aspiring journalist, you found the town’s dark history more fascinating than frightening. To you, it was just material for dark bedtime stories. Yet, while many who had survived the horrors saw them as more than history or folklore, those who had evaded them were a lot like you—they saw nothing to panic over, just a few rotten apples already put behind bars.
But you’d be lying if you said you hadn’t been tempted to test some of the theories. Almost eager, you found yourself wanting to investigate the current-day Ghostface rumors, wondering if they might be linked to the recent disappearances.
You pondered even now, nursing your third glass of red wine, the deep red hue swirling in the glass, mesmerizing under the effects of a light buzz that calmed your body. You and the bartenders of the high end Diamond Club, Hansol and Chan, had gotten acquainted in your time here—perhaps more than necessary—so they had a good idea of your usuals, whether it was your drink of choice or preferred form of entertainment.
“Red wine tonight, I see,” Chan flirtatiously engaged, wiping down whiskey glasses.
“Tonight called for something sweet, a little treat for working so damn hard,” You replied, finishing the last bit in your glass. “Where’d Hansol go? He had just serviced me.”
“Just getting something from the back, probably more of your wine.”
You rolled your eyes playfully, setting the wine glass down politely in front of him. “You both do know me so well. I don’t suppose there’s room for me to check back there too.”
“No can do today, beautiful,” Hansol said, emerging from the backroom as he rolled up his sleeves. “We’ve got a big meeting tomorrow morning, so we need to be on our A-game.” He threw an arm around Chan, signaling caution to his coworker, then regretfully scanned your attire.
Hansol’s gaze traced over the perfect lines and curves of your dress as he tightened his grip on Chan’s shoulder, both of them watching as you patted your lips against your napkin, leaving a kiss stain in mauve-red lipstick. He knew soon enough he’d regret his responsible decision-making. “But we’ll be sure we’ll leave a slot available for you after.”
Hansol turned toward Chan, looking for reassurance as the other man held the middle seam of his pants. “Right, Chan?”
“R-right,” the other bartender responded with a tinge of disappointment.
You softly pouted. “Okay. Another time. I’ll let you guys get back to work.”
The prospects tonight were slim, but not impossible. There were group gatherings and couples, but no one alone like you—that made it more challenging, and you loved a good challenge. You turned away from the bar on your stool, twirling your freshly topped-off glass from a new bottle, and scanned the room for another late-night treat.
In the corner, you spotted a diamond in the rough—a pair of men who couldn’t seem to tear their eyes off you, each idly toying with the dark liquor in their glasses. You flashed them a sly grin before turning away just enough to keep them in your peripheral vision, watching as they drank you in. They smiled back, one darkly handsome man to the next, their gazes unmistakably intrigued.
“Isn’t that a beaut,” Seungcheol muttered under his breath, hiding it under his glass drenched in bourbon.
“They are,” Wonwoo agreed. “Their reputation precedes them. We complete our duty tonight.”
Before Wonwoo could stand to approach you, Seungcheol tugged him back down, something more than authority in his gaze. “Hold on, brother. What’s the rush? It’s not every day we come across a sacrifice as…delectable as this one. I say we take our time.”
“But, sir… Seungcheol,” Wonwoo corrected himself, remembering they were in a public setting. “We shouldn’t leave any evidence.”
“And we’ll make sure of that.” Seungcheol grinned at his capable, steadfast captain. “Besides, I saw the way you looked at them. Don’t pretend you didn’t, soldier.”
Wonwoo had looked at you—perhaps longer than he should have. Sinful deviant or not, he could understand why others found it impossible to resist you. You were a vision to behold, a captivating stain on the town he might have allowed to linger under different circumstances. But there were no exceptions in the scripture. You would meet the same fate as everyone else they’d killed.
“Nonetheless, we have demands to meet… Seungcheol.” Wonwoo’s tone was even, but his eyes held a flicker of impatience.
The elder man sighed, swirling his drink with a slow, deliberate motion. “Sure taking advantage of my given name, aren’t you…Wonwoo?” He raised a brow, an amused glint in his gaze, though his words held an edge.
“We must stay focused, even if the distraction is so… distracting,” Wonwoo replied, his voice steady but his gaze briefly drifting to you before snapping back.
Seungcheol smiled cunningly, leaning back in his chair as he let his eyes settle on you. “All I’m saying is, why not reward ourselves with a taste of their mercy? Give them a final moment of sin before they see the flames of the inferno where they belong.”
Wonwoo’s jaw tightened. “And would we not be sinning too, brother?”
Seungcheol’s smile faded, and he leaned forward his captain in arms, voice low and commanding. “You dare question my judgment?”
A silence hung heavy between them before Wonwoo let out a resigned sigh. “We need our affairs in order,” he murmured, his tone weary yet resolute.
Seungcheol scoffed, rolling his eyes as he straightened. “Fine. We’ll do it your way,” he conceded.
They adjusted their jackets, sharing a brief, knowing glance before rising from their seats and approaching you with a leisurely stride, intrigue glinting beneath their composed expressions. Seungcheol met your eyes first, flashing that boyish dimple—the one that had gotten them out of more than a few tight spots.
“Mind if we join you?” he asked, his tone smooth, and inviting, but with an edge that hinted at something far less innocent.
Your teeth grazed your bottom lip as you gave a slight nod. “Both of you?”
“If that doesn’t intimidate you,” Wonwoo replied with a polite smile, the bar light catching his glasses and casting a faint glare that concealed the depths of his true intentions.
“Not at all. Sit.”
And they did, boxing either side of you, each exuding an intoxicating mix of decadence, spice, and something darkly earthy. The scent was almost hypnotic, stiffening the hairs on your neck.
Every glance, every subtle movement, spoke of a carefully restrained danger, like a coiled snake waiting to wrap around its unknowing prey. Their intensity crackled in the air around you, unsettling yet somehow magnetic. Something about this pair was dangerous on belief and your gut was screaming it loud, but instead of listening, you were anchoring yourself in place, wanting to find out just what it is you should be afraid of.
“I’m Seungcheol, and my colleague here is Wonwoo. And you are?” The dimpled man asked.
As you introduced yourself, both men let your name roll off their tongues, savoring each syllable as if committing it to memory. Wonwoo angled his body toward you, his gaze intent. “That’s quite nice to say,” he murmured, repeating your name slowly, watching closely to see how you reacted to the sound of it on his lips.
“What brings you both here?” you asked, subtly crossing your legs with a teasing smile. “Date night?”
Both men chuckled, clearly amused by how effortlessly they’d caught your attention. “Something like that,” Seungcheol replied, leaning in just slightly. “We’re just looking for a nightcap before calling it a night. Came straight from the office.”
You raised a brow, laughing softly. “It’s 10 p.m. You both work this late? And turn in this early?”
“Well,” Wonwoo countered, a strategic smile on his face, “we never said how long we’d be here… or how brief our nightcap might be.”
You hummed, sipping your wine as you eyed them over the rim of your glass. “You two really do everything together.”
“Yes,” they answered in perfect unison.
“Everything together?” you pressed, a playful edge in your voice.
“Yes,” they replied again, this time with a hint of menace that made the word linger in the air just a moment too long.
The longer you stayed in their presence, the more you couldn’t shake the feeling that something about their composed demeanor didn’t sit right. Call it survivor’s intuition, but something was off. Still—“I suppose neither of you has time for anything else tonight?” you asked a slight challenge in your tone. “A way to truly acquaint ourselves before the night ends.”
“That does sound interesting,” Wonwoo mused, pretending to consider, his gaze never leaving you.
“And what better way to end the night than with a new…friend?” Seungcheol added, his smile sharp as he leaned in.
It was almost too easy. One moment, you were at the club, indulging in a reckless amount of wine courtesy of these fine gentlemen, the night unfolding in a haze of alcohol and sultry gazes. The next, you found yourself in their penthouse, entangled in a kiss with Seungcheol as Wonwoo was tearing off your clothes, the world outside suddenly distant and irrelevant.
You could feel the warmth of the man’s breath against the back of your neck. His spectacles brushed lightly against your skin as he leaned in, the metal sending a subtle shiver down your spine as you counted the beats of his pants. He explored your body with reckless abandon, uttering your name under every tender kiss.
Meanwhile, Seungcheol was evidently impatient, his lips quickly latching onto yours in a frenzy. He wasted no time tracing the surface area of your mouth, as if time were ticking and he knew that sooner or later, it would run out. “By gods, you are something else.”
He pressed up against your body, only the thin layer of your lingerie to protect you as you began to undress him, the concaves and curves of his body scorching under your fingertips. Your moans muffled under Seungcheol’s lips as Wonwoo's moans muffled under your skin, the tautness of their body sandwiching you into a sweltering trap.
“You both have no idea how much I needed this,” you panted, hands roaming in Seungcheol’s hair as his lips latched around your tits.
Wonwoo softly scoffed, loud enough to hear but soft enough to be dismissed. “On the contrary, you don’t know how badly we needed you.”
You mewled under the sounds of his false pretenses and squealed when they brought you naked over the sofa. Seungcheol took a moment to admire your vulnerability, caressing along your sides, spreading your legs so he may position himself between them, and just behind you stood Wonwoo. Impatient for something else entirely, procured a knife from under the couch, just where he had left it.
Seconds before the spectacle man lifted it up, deciding to plunge it through your shoulder, chest, or even throat, Seungcheol stood up. “Just a moment, darling,” his eyes flickered over to the armed captain in caution, frozen with the hunter’s knife inches above you, “Me and my buddy got to do one last thing before we proceed. Wait for us patiently?”
“All right…don’t keep me waiting too long,” you purred, a slow smile curling on your lips, your heavy-lidded gaze smoldering with anticipation.
Seungcheol steered Wonwoo into a separate room, shutting the door behind them with a quiet finality. He fixed his subordinate with a piercing glare, the urge to drive him to his knees simmering just beneath the surface. “Tell me, soldier—what do you think you’re doing?”
“It’s not ‘soldier’ anymore, sir,” Wonwoo muttered, his voice tense. “I’m doing what we’re supposed to. We can’t indulge in this…” he hesitated, searching for the word, “…depravity. It only complicates the operation.”
Seungcheol stepped closer, his figure casting a shadow over Wonwoo as he instinctively leaned back, nearly cowering under the weight of his leader’s stare. “So you doubt our abilities, is that it?” he demanded, his voice low and venomous. “It’s been a minute since I took on my bitchbreaker on for a ride and you of all people are deciding to be a nuisance. If you’re so certain we can’t balance pleasure and duty, perhaps you should step aside—so I, your capable and trusted leader, can finish the job without you repeatedly defying me.”
He turned to leave, his movements sharp with frustration, but before he could take a full step, Wonwoo’s hand shot out, gripping his bicep tightly. The hold was firm, almost defiant, and Seungcheol could feel the strength behind it—a mix of resolve and the fear of regret that held Wonwoo back. Their eyes met, and in Wonwoo’s gaze was a fierce determination, teetering on the edge between loyalty and a barely restrained desire.
“I’ll follow orders,” Wonwoo said, his tone unwavering. “Your orders. I won’t question you again, sir.”
Seungcheol gave a smug smile, brushing off his right-hand man’s grip before leading him out of the room.
When they returned, they found you still lounging on the couch, but now holding something you hadn’t had before—something stark white and blinding, something that didn’t belong to you and should’ve gone unnoticed.
“Boo!” you laughed, lifting the Ghostface mask to your face with a playful grin as the rest of you was still nude, offering an enragingly tantalizing image.
Wonwoo’s voice nearly boomed as he tried to keep his rage in check, suppressing another sensation that fought him to break out. “What do you think you’re doing?” His eyes flashed a sign of panic, quickly narrowing at you. Had they been caught? Exposed? You were already a risky target, and now you were making things a lot more complicated.
You pulled the mask off with a casual smile, unfazed by the shift in Wonwoo’s demeanor, which was colder than it was moments before. “Sorry for snooping; I couldn’t resist.”
Seungcheol’s calm voice cut through the tension. “Where’d you find that?”
You held the mask in your hands, inspecting it from front to back, not fearing the consequences. “Under the coffee table,” you said, turning it over, admiring the attention to detail. “It looks really real.”
Seungcheol stepped forward, his presence looming as his eyes flickered over from the mask to you, its captor, with an intensity that bordered on possessive. “It is real. We believe it belonged to one of the original Ghostfaces...As historians, we collect these kinds of things.”
You raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Ooh,” you grinned, your lips curling in slight admiration.
Seungcheol studied you for a moment, his arms crossed in calculated intrigue. “You’re not scared?” His voice dropped slightly in defense. “Why?”
You shrugged nonchalantly. “I don’t know… I just find it more interesting than scary. And maybe kind of sexy… I don’t know.”
Wonwoo couldn’t hide his disbelief. His voice came out sharp, almost incredulous. “Sexy… you find centuries of bloodshed and thousands of lost lives sexy?”
You paused, your fingers tracing the edge of the mask. “Okay, well not that—the mask! I know it’s tied to awful, disgusting, horrific events, but…” You brought it up to your face, tilting it as you peered through the narrow slits, your voice trailing off in their signature tone of voice that the articles quote were ‘shrill and cunning.’. “There’s something about it that’s...captivating. Like, what kinds of things did they do, and why this mask? What makes it so...iconic?”
Seungcheol’s eyes darkened for a split second, a flicker of something realization passing through them, but he said nothing. Instead, he watched you with a calm amusement, his lips curling into a slight, almost imperceptible smile.
“Really?” Wonwoo’s voice cut through the silence, laced with disbelief. His eyes narrowed as he processed what you had just said, a quiet judgment simmering beneath his calm exterior. “You really think that is sexy?” His words hung in the air, thick with the implication that he couldn’t fathom how anyone could glorify such an image.
Wonwoo was quiet for a moment, his thoughts clearly racing. Yeah, I’m the one doing the killing, he thought, but they were sacrifices—an entirely different kind of thing. They were meant for the greater cause, something you could never understand. He had been the one to offer the death, to carry out the act, and yet you—you—were somehow making it seem like some kind of twisted, romanticized thrill.
He glanced at Seungcheol, whose only response was a raised eyebrow. The corners of his lips curved into that unsettlingly knowing smile, the kind that signaled anything but anger.
Seungcheol retrieved the mask from your fingertips, put it towards him, and shielded his facial features. “So if I wear it like this,” He stuck out a hand to grab you, tugging you by the waist and gliding his hand over your sides, “and touch you like this…”
His palms cupped the underside of your ass, digits digging into your flesh roughly, releasing a sharp breath from you. His body, gloriously exposed, was firm and warm, so inviting you couldn’t help but throw your arms over his shoulders to press against his waist. You stared into the eyes of the mask, stomach-churning at the increase of stimuli and you almost heard yourself growl under your breath. “I don’t think I could resist you.”
Seungcheol removed the mask, holding it in one hand and tightening his grip on you with the other. “You’re a weird little thing, are you,” he asked, narrowing his eyes, voice rich and dark.
“I’ve always wanted deep throat the cock of someone wearing one,” you blatantly confessed, your bottom lip caught in your teeth.
Seungcheol quirked a brow, interest piquing before tossing the mask in Wonwoo’s direction, who caught it flawlessly, looking back at it in concerned confusion. “Wear it,” said the fellow conspirer, “Make our little guest dreams come true while I enjoy the show.”
Wonwoo didn’t argue, and against his better judgment followed his leader’s orders, securing the mask on his face as he bared his nether region, regrettably taut and aroused. As soon as Seungcheol released you, you fell to your knees, gazing up at the Ghostface mask before drawing your gaze down to Wonwoo’s cock that stood on its own, full of life.
Beneath that mask, Wonwoo held on to his uncertainty, but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t look forward to the image of your lips wrapped around him. It was about all he could think about since being aware of you, other than killing you that is. Even as you beckoned him closer, with your knees on the ground of where the blood he’s shed–the bodies he’s slaughtered–he couldn’t help but think about how to dispose of you. How to get rid of your stain next. But the moment your lips reach the tip of his cock, his worries and schemes seemed to fade away, vanishing even faster as your pace quickened so eagerly.
Your hands palmed over his waist, and the lust in your eyes was insatiable, making a man—even Wonwoo—wonder how that pretty little mouth could take so much cock. He groaned, grabbing you by the crown of your head, and pushing you closer as he started to thrust, gradually adjusting to the tight, warm press of your mouth. “Oh fuck,” his voice gave out, muffled by the mask.
He winced as he felt himself hit your throat, swallowing as he heard you gag on his cock—trying to fit all of him and he broke out in a hidden smile, and if he was being honest, he hasn't held a smile like it in a long time.
Why, Wonwoo hadn’t realized how long he’s had a good fucking like this. Ever since he took on as captain, sex was a thing of the past, something not even in the back of his mind, but you. Oh, you. You awoke something that should’ve stayed dormant. Years of training and discipline are suddenly out the window. And now he’s had a taste, he was going to ruin you until you didn’t even have the energy to breathe.
His hand locked between your tendrils, shoving your head impatiently. “Little toy that knows how to play. That’s rare.”
One hand found the underside of your chin, bringing your face up to gaze upon his, and watched as the mask on his face tilted in curiosity. Vice gripping that head of yours, he used your throat, letting his length slide down inside you. “Aren’t you a little slut? Just fucking wet having my cock down your throat, are you? Don’t try to deny it. I don't have to see or feel it. I can smell it.”
You confirmed with a strugged nod, salvia dribbling down your chin as tears began to burn your eyes.
Wonwoo let out a staggered breath, hitching another in his throat with a groan as felt your face touch the base of his cock, holding you in place and hearing you breathe with immense difficulty l. He pulled himself out of you, dragging you by your head, watching you cough on the ground, strings of your salvia ruining the floor and stretching from your cheeks. “You’re such a try-hard, taking my cock when I hear you practically gasping for air.”
He bent down to level with you, the mask staring back at you menacingly, so realistically. “What? You’re not gonna beg for more?”
“I will, I will,” you assured, a blubbering mess, gasping while the tightness in your throat failed to bother you like it should’ve.
“Is that right?” Wonwoo chuckled, squeezing your cheeks in a rough grip. “You gonna beg for me to fuck your face? Huh?” He inhaled your gasps, body convulsing. His voice was gravelly and stinging with repulsion. “Cockbreath.”
You whined, pleading: “Please, I want to feel it deep, deep inside me, Mr. Ghostface. Give me your cock.”
“Then let me hear how much you want it.”
Your mouth parted, fumbling for the right words, struggling to release them from your strained throat, the sound coming out rough and raspy. “I want your cock shoved in my throat. I want to feel it from one end and out the other. I live for you cock. I’d die on your cock. Please just stick in my throat and don’t stop please.”
Wonwoo looked down at you, surprised with the spew coming out of your mouth but went with it, shoving himself swiftly back in you, the sensation of your throat welcoming him like it never left. “I better see you swallow every inch,” he warned, his voice thick with malice. “If you so much as breathe, I’ll give you more than enough reason not to,” a smile laced with dark amusement edging his tone.
Meanwhile, Seungcheol watched as he promised, laying aloof back on the sofa with cock in hand and reveling in the sheer desperation from your voice as he stroked his cock to the pace of Wonwoo’s thrusts.
As the reigning leader of the Spirituals, he was accustomed to having others do his bidding, just as his father had planned. But through his experience in leadership, he discovered he preferred being directly involved. Very involved. And it was moments like this that confirmed it.
“Good little cocksleeve, ain’t they?” Seungcheol commented, licking his lips.
“They certainly know how to make use of themselves,” Wonwoo drawled, a smug grin tugging at the corner of his mouth as he observed your efforts, taking him with as much excitement as you initially came with.
Seungcheol started getting up, standing beside his partner in crime with a growing cock firmly in his grasp. He cast his gaze down at you, his presence domineering and intimidating, yet all the more mesmerizing. Seungcheol scoffed as soon as your eyes flickered in his direction, and his hands found themself in your hair. “I wonder how they’d take two cocks. How does that sound?”
Seungcheol helped release you from Wonwoo’s clutches and invited you into his as he met your eye level. “Can two cocks,” He produced another Ghostface mask, lifting it to his face, “fuck that pretty mouth full? There’s only one right answer.”
“Yes,” you managed to answer, your voice trembling, tears streaking down your face as you exhale, your flushed cheeks betraying the weight of your words. “Always.”
“Exactly what I was looking for.”
Kneeling between them, you held them both in either hand and traveled down both their lengths. Each Ghostface was more wicked than the other as you shoved a cock down your throat, Seungcheol’s groan following in response. Your tongue dragged along its underside, mouth stretching to adjust its size and familiarizing with your throat just as Wonwoo’s had, and the familiar sting of your tears had caused another stream of heat down your cheeks.
“You dirty little slut, so this is the kind of treatment my partner here has been getting,” Seungcheol took you by the hair, and slammed you against the base before pulling you back to only reach the head, another fit of coughing to ensue. “You better work five times as hard if you want to please me too.”
You nodded, each stroke to either of their cocks deliberate and purposeful, the masked individuals looming in front of you anticipating your next move. Taking Seungcheol back in your mouth, you sucked all around his circumstances, memorizing the veins of his shaft to then do the same with Wonwoo, batting your eyes back at him, your mouth parted wide letting both exit and enter on your own accord.
It was then either tip breached one another, both of your hands rubbing against each other at once that you heard something so delicious in their voices, so real and so pure. And before you could truly savor it, both of them pried your mouth part, either cock rubbing against either inside of your mouth, stretching your cheeks, as they unevenly thrust into your mouth.
It looked like it hurt, and either man was glad for it because, in its own sick way, it was another form of punishment, catering to them would only guarantee your ultimate demise and proving to them once and for all how necessary their roles really were.
Still, they enjoyed it—hell, they were euphoric seeing you put so much effort into such an ordeal, but not more impressed than about how it felt. Each twist of your wrist aimed to pump ego in their lengths, the dampness of your slobber stretching from your chin to their shafts creating a path of viscous filth, and the tension building in their manhoods that never seemed to fade as they attempted to bury themselves inside of your face.
It was momentous, and Wonwoo, who was initially concerned, was elated to reap more of the benefits just as much as his leader.
They shoved you off as soon as one of them was close, landing you on the sofa, flushed with a thin layer of sweat. Wonwoo, lifting the mask slightly above his face, let his lips run down your body, the hard, cold of plastic the mask chill on your body, while his teeth were nipping your torso and soft growls hummed against your skin. Startled, you yelped as he tugged your legs toward him, his cock position almost perfect at your warm entrance before he inserted himself, not wasting time by giving you a warning.
You mewled at the sensation, his rock-hard length plunging against your moist, plush walls. You instinctively gripped his arms for support, his ruts definable sharp, guttural, and primal. He loomed over you, mask still in place, but the shadow cast over his face in combination with just the barest hint of his mouth exposed showed a twisted smile of lunacy, dangerous beyond recognition.
Wonwoo was rough, hurting you in a way you’ve never been fucked before, but it made it all the more pleasure and Wonwoo knew it more than you thought. Seungcheol joined your side, squeezing himself between you and the couch as he propped his cock towards your mouth, slapping it against your cheek. “Open the fuck wide,” he said in a gnarly rasp through his mask.
As you opened, he seized you by your chin, slapping the cushion of your cheek where it already stung, before slapping the shaft of his cock on your tongue. You looked up at him, panting in excited gasps before he filled your mouth, then emptied it, and then filled your mouth again. His free hand claimed your breasts, ruthlessly squeezing them, pinching at your peaks, before ultimately slapping them, every action you could only swallow at. At almost every end, you were filled to the brim, hung in the balance of their mercy, and not once could you open your eyes without seeing stars.
“Can’t fucking stand it, what’s a fucking slut like you think you deserves our cocks for,” Wonwoo slapped the underside of your thigh, the sting of it ringing in your ears.
Seungcheol chuckled, fingers threading through your hair, pulling your head back to see the glisten in your eyes, how they beg without saying so, or how they water in delight. “One would be lucky to be so fortunate. You’ll thank us later and it won’t just be with gratitude, it’ll be a plea for more.”
Wonwoo, almost as blinded with lust as either you or Seungcheol, gave a deep heart laugh as he folded your legs back towards you, feeling him bottoming inside you and hitting a spot that shot you up in space. At this point you were immobile of making conscious decisions that didn’t have to do with sex, deducing you to only something they could use—something they could fuck until they were sick of you.
You’d muffle something around Seungcheol’s cock, whether it be their names, or calling them Ghostface, it didn’t matter. It was as if the world outside this room didn’t exist and none of them cared for it to exist. Just them and you, and the sound of raw, unbridled sex. Succumbing to their primal urge to unleash pent-up tension and energy—and how effortlessly they did so.
Wonwoo felt his stomach seize, his abdomen tightening as the involuntary contractions slowed his pace, the warmth starting to overcome him, and his low groans took power over his voice as he doubled over. His cum up and out of him in thick ribbons up your path, the twitching of your orgasm quickening in response to his warmth. Simultaneously, Seungcheol filled your mouth, expanding your cheeks, and he gently stroked your throat, “Swallow every fucking bit of it, you fucking cumbottle.”
Your eyes fluttered, pushing the cum down your pipes as he still stood in your mouth, feeling it slide down with a heavy swallow, and you opened your mouth wide to show just how thorough you are.
Seungcheol finally peeled the mask from his face, revealing flushed pink on his cheeks and damp strands of hair clinging to his forehead, making him an undeniably captivating sight—nothing short of a perfect reward.
Wonwoo followed, his presence marked by a familiar mirage, his smile shifting into a Duchenne grin—a smile that sparkled in a way most didn’t, reaching his eyes and revealing just how genuine it truly was. Underestimating the relief that consumed him. “Finally,” he gasped out.
He stood up, towering over your frame, his shadow falling over you. “Nothing short of our expectations,” he complimented before pressing a kiss to your lips, explosive and electric, foreshadowing how it’d be the last.
He started to retrieve the additional knife from under the couch, its steely presence finally making a comeback, and you managed to catch the glint of it peering at you at a lower glance. Jumping into action, your feet aimed for his gut, throwing Wonwoo off base as the knife scattered on the ground and crashing him hard into the glass coffee table behind him.
“Fuck!” Wonwoo shouted, pain pricking him at all sides of his body, blood gushing from the holes from which the glass had penetrated. “You bitch!”
“Like I was going to let that happen,” you spat, recovering from your fatigue.
Seungcheol pinned his arms behind you, an evil smile visible in your peripheral. “And you think I’d let you damage my property like that?” He hissed.
Before Seungcheol could avenge his comrade, you head-butted him from the back of your skull, momentarily blinding him as he clutched his face in agony. “Fuck! Holy fuck! My fucking face! You broke my fucking face!” He growled from the depths of his gut as you backed off of him. “I’m gonna enjoy fucking killing you.”
“God fuck, you knew! Didn’t you, you stupid bitch?” Wonwoo started inching closer to you, the knife a good distance away from him. “You knew who we were and came up here anyway. To what? Get one good fuck? Are you that stupid?”
“Of course, I didn’t fucking know! But I had a gut feeling,” you panted.
“Yeah?” Seungcheol taunted, eye swollen, cheeks and forehead red as he procured a knife from between the couch cushions. “Where that gut feeling take you? Besides getting them rearranged, that is?”
Wonwoo scoffed, finally finding the strength to get up. “Dumb slut like them didn’t get that far. Just good for a fuck.” He spat on the ground blood, gritting his teeth.
Your gaze flickered from one to the other, bare fisted, preparing for the worst. “Why don’t you test that theory then, boys?”
“Fucking gladly,” Seungcheol agreed, voice falling several octaves.
They bolted towards you in blind fury, grasping at you like straw and swinging a knife in your direction, barely nicking you. When Wonwoo ran at you from one end, Seungcheol came at you from the other, attempting to corner you. Determination oozing in their gazes, piercing through your very being, the mirage of the devil’s on both of their unsettlingly handsome faces.
“Nowhere to run now, you little bitch.” Wonwoo screeched venomously.
Seungcheol twirled the knife between his fingers, a grin stretching from ear to ear. “This is where you start crying. Or begging for mercy? It doesn’t matter like it won’t matter where or what we stab you with next.”
You slid underneath their swinging arms, the knife briefly slicing, forearm and you gasped in response, stumbling backward. Feeling cornered. You slowly backed away, searching for an escape, but by luck, you find something in your purse instead, abandoned on the ground just out of your assailants’ sight. “You fuckers aren’t gonna get away with shit by the way. You should be careful where you leave your things around here.”
They both laugh at you condescendingly, not an ounce of doubt in their eyes. “No one is believing your bluffs, darling. Just come over nice and slowly. We’ll only stab you 20 times each,” Seungcheol feignedly reassured.
Thinking you were defenseless, they charged at you at full speed—until you lifted what you’d hidden behind your cowering figure. A burst of pepper spray erupted from the canister into their eyes, and the sound of grown men screaming from the tops of their lungs, like terrified final girls, seared itself into every wrinkle of your brain.
”You stupid slut! Pepper spray? Seriously?”
”First you swell up my face, then fucking blind me? You’re in for a real one, cum guzzling little shit.”
Seizing your chance, you delivered a final kick, shoving Wonwoo in Seungcheol’s direction, sending them into an unexpected embrace. In the haze of pain, Wonwoo's eyes shot open, the piercing ache in his chest telling him everything he needed to know about what had just happened. “S-Seungcheol…what the fuck…”
As he stared into his comrade's eyes, Seungcheol’s eyes grew wide in realization, and looked down at the knife he held in his hand, now plunged into their chest. The leader followed him as he collapsed, taking the longest moment to register the events leading up to this as Wonwoo’s eyes began to drift close. Gripping his brethren’s shoulders with the anger of a million suns, Seungcheol bared his teeth, voice singing in regret. “You…I’M GOING TO CHOP AND FEED THEM TO MY PET SHARKS, YOU TRAMP.”
He turned to face you swiftly—too swiftly—because as soon as he did, his neck met the blade, slicing from one side to the other until you plunged it deeper, twisting it down his throat before pulling it out. Fury lingered in his eyes, barely alive, as he began to spit up blood, several drops landing on your face and body. Moments later, he collapsed beside his partner, his eyes dulling as the life slowly drained from his face and body.
You collapsed to your side, shakily reaching for the phone in your bag and dialing the authorities. “H-hello…I just killed two men that attempted to kill me…I think I know the address.”
Once you hung up, you summoned the courage to flip your phone to camera mode to capture the evidence, gasping for breath, ensuring yourself of the life left in you. As soon as you did, a gravelly voice cut through the silence. Its owner raised the knife that had once been lodged in his chest, charging at you with bloodshot, deranged eyes. “DIE, FREAK, DIE!”
You managed a quick, well-aimed strike where the sun doesn’t shine, slowing him down just enough. As he stumbled, you seized the knife you’d stolen from Seungcheol’s throat and plunged it into his head, again, and again, and again, screaming at the top of your lungs until he finally collapsed to the floor.
With trembling hands, you struggled to hold the phone steady to capture the scene. Blood streaked down your forearms, and your sniffles provided the only soundtrack to the aftermath.
You’d done it—you’d finally done it. It only took a hundred tries and countless hours of risk, but it happened. You had become the one–if not the only–true survivor of the town’s Ghostface murders. If this didn’t launch your career, you weren’t sure what would.
You just had hoped they wouldn’t come with backup.

Hey I have an idea!
Could we have another type of angst like "if their s/o gets hurt (seriously or not) while they are touring away"
Please 🙏🙏
(sorry English is not my first language)
their s/o getting hurt while they're away on tour
content: implied accident (but nothing explicit), established relationship, fluff, angst, etc.
wc: 767
a/n: i left the reason why reader was hurt ambiguous to not make it too specific!
masterlist
seungcheol -
would absolutely blame himself for it even when it was completely out of his control. being leader, he probably wouldn't be able to leave whichever schedule he had (at least not right away), but he'd move hell and earth to make sure you were okay while he made his way back to you. would probably be super snappy at everyone bc of how bad he felt he was away from you in such a time.
jeonghan -
he'd be sad and apologetic, but would hide it behind some of that kidnergarten teacher humor, wanting nothing but to comfort you. would be on the phone with you every second up until he could be with you in person, always cooing at you and pouting through the phone. his caring persona would shine through so much.
joshua -
cannot focus on anything that's not you and it'd show on both his behavior and appearance. if he cant get to you, he'd be constantly checking his phone to hear from you as much as possible. would feel guilty for having to be away but would swallow that in order to focus solely on you.
jun -
worried sick and it'd show in his behavior immediately. if he was on tour, the audience would be able to tell he's a little off, not being his usual silly self. would spend every waking moment on the phone with you, maybe even flying out and missing a show or two to make sure you were okay.
soonyoung -
would literally be unable to function from the moment he heard you'd been hurt. he'd be a completely deflated version of himself, feeling guilt and pain from your own pain. rambles endless apologies to you the moment he gets to call you or be by your side.
wonwoo -
would fly out the moment he heard something happened to you. realistically, he'd probably be unable to stay with you due to tour, but he'd wanna make sure he had you under the best care and knowing you were his main priority even if he had to fly back right away.
jihoon -
makes sure you have everything a person could possibly need despite his distance. constantly on the phone with you, barely paying attention to the outside world bc you're his main concern at the moment. it'd take one single plea from you to get him on a flight home to you, everything else be damned.
seokmin -
terrified and super guilty, and it would show. if he had no way of getting to you immediately, he'd be spamming you and your loved ones for constant updates on your state, constantly apologizing to you over the phone for not being there for you. takes a short break to take care of you as soon as possible.
mingyu -
goes into caretaker mode immediately. will be on the phone all day with you and making sure you have everything you could possibly need to feel better and get properly taken care of during his absence. if he's unable to be with you, he'd still take a flight on his day off even if it means staying for half a day and taking another flight back immediately.
minghao -
doesnt give a fuck if there's some schedule in the way, he'll get to you with or without his company's support. he'd know the members would understand and thats all that mattered. he'd want to beat himself up over not being there, but would put that in the back burner, not wanting to make this about himself.
seungkwan -
he'd be such a mess, he'd have to be sent home immediately upon finding out. he'd be so sad and apologetic for not being there, swearing it'd never happen again. from now on, he'd either take you with him or stay with you (as irrational as that sounded), blinded by emotions as he took care of you.
vernon -
he'd try to be logical about it, finding a way to take care of you despite the distance while he found a way to get back home to you in order to take care of you. this would be one of the few moments in which he'd hate the nature of his job, cursing at himself for not being able to be there for you as soon as humanly possible.
chan -
he'd be a worried mess, feeling like shit due to having not been there for you when you got hurt. super guilty and regretful, constantly sending you flowers or food delivery due to his absence. makes up for it tenfold as soon as he gets a few days off.

Seventeen when you're sick
Genre: comfort
A/N: This is my first time attempting a reaction. This is written vaguely to see if I like this style of writing, but I’m open to the possibility of writing more specific reactions.
This is entirely self-indulgent, as I’m home sick with a terrible UTI. Pray for me or something.
Seungcheol
Almost immediately puts you in the car to take you to the doctor. Man is stubborn and won’t accept any arguments today (at least until a professional confirms it’s nothing serious). He’s a natural caretaker, so expect to be forced back into bed with whatever medicine and fluids the doctor orders. And it will take very little pouting to get him to get back into bed and cuddle with you because he’s totally wrapped around your finger.
Jeonghan
Honestly knew you were going to be sick before you did. You’ve been sluggish for days and complaining about little things, so he stops on his way home from work to pick up a few things - a few types of medications, some stuff to make soup, and maybe even a cute plushie to cheer you up. He will refuse to acknowledge any of this work as he unceremoniously drops the bags onto the table and practically starts throwing things at you. He will still be a menace regardless of his concern, particularly when you ask for cuddles. He’ll push you away at first, calling you gross, but one sad look from you has him folding onto the couch with you.
Joshua
Another one that’s observant enough to know you’re coming down with something. Won’t force you to the doctor right away like someone (*cough* Seungcheol), but will play nurse for as long as you need. You’re actually pretty endeared by it because you hardly have to ask for anything. Cough? He’s handing you some gross syrup that he promises will help. Headache? He’s handing you a couple ibuprofen. Stomach bug? He’s already holding back your hair. *sigh*
Jun
I mean this with so much love, but he might be a little oblivious. I mean, he asks how you’re doing single everyday, but if you say that you’re fine, he’ll take your word for it. So imagine his surprise when he pops in to visit you at work one free afternoon and realizes you aren’t there. When he finds you at home piled up on the couch in a sea of tissues, he panics a little. This is one that requires a bit of hand holding. But he’ll do anything to help you feel better. All you have to do is ask.
Hoshi
Totally out of his element. You’re going to have to hold his hand quite a bit at first because he might not know what you need. But his enthusiasm is overwhelming the moment he has a task he can do for you. He’ll run to the pharmacy. He’ll call his mom for a soup recipe. You guys are watching whatever you want to watch on TV, even if you fall asleep on him within the first ten minutes of it. He’s really so sweet, he just doesn’t want to mess up or make you feel worse.
Wonwoo
Another one that knew something was coming. Over the few days before you really crash, he’s asking how you’re feeling and you’re confused. You feel fine, just a little run down. And then you wake up the next day and realize why he was asking. He’s so casual about taking care of you and he refuses to hear any compliments or thanks about it. He’s nearly scolding you as he wraps a blanket around you on the couch, saying that’s what a good boyfriend is supposed to do and you should NOT be thanking him for the bare minimum.
Woozi
Actually feels terrible because he was running late for a date with you and totally missed your text cancelling. When he shows up at your door, he’s confused because you’re in your pajamas with a box of tissues. This is another one that’s a little out of his element. He feels a little awkward about fumbling through your kitchen and your medicine cabinet, but his heart is absolutely in the right place. When you tell him that some cuddles are really all you need, he relaxes. He can do that part, no problem.
DK
The drama. The theatrics. He googles your symptoms and has become convinced you’re dying. YOU have to make him go to the doctor with you to confirm that it’s not that serious. You know his heart is in the right place, but there might be times you have to downplay your symptoms to get him to relax. He’s a very empathetic person and when you’re suffering, he’s suffering. Put the poor guy out of his misery and get well soon.
Mingyu
A chance to prove that he is total husband material? Okay! Don’t get me wrong, he doesn’t like you being sick, but he LOVES taking care of you. Another one that seems to anticipate your every need. And talk about clingy. Does not give a flying fuck about getting sick because he will be up in your space unless you ask him to leave. He’s always wrapped around you in bed or on the couch anyway, and your fever or snotty nose will not stop him. If you do happen to ask for space because you’re too uncomfortable, he’ll give puppy eyes and begrudgingly stay on his side of the bed. Even from a distance, he’ll do little things to soothe you though, like smoothing out your hair or rubbing your back until you can sleep.
The8
This is cliche, but you tried tea? You almost smack him when he recommends it. You don’t want any fucking tea, you want a magical cure right this second. But he’s insistent and you begrudgingly accept whatever he hands you. He does the typical soups and medicines too, of course, but you’re having like 10 cups of tea a day. And damn it if it doesn’t help. He smirks when you say you don’t feel like you need another dose of medicine right now but saves his ‘I told you so’ until you're fully recovered.
Seungkwan
Do you want to be lectured? You will be - with so much love and concern, of course. You've been overworking yourself lately. You shouldn’t have gone to bed with wet hair. You should be drinking more water. He’s borderline angry as he shoves a thermometer under your tongue and gives you a fever reducer. You can see right through it that it’s coming from a place of concern, but you’re feeling sensitive, so it takes a single watery look at him before he’s huffing and flopping into bed with you to cuddle you back to health.
Vernon
He someone that seems to thrive on independence and that extends to giving you room for independence too. So when you say you’re sick, he’d be careful not to assume that you’re helpless. Still, he’s worried so he’ll quietly do things around the house to make things easier for you. Dishes and laundry are done. The medicine cabinet is stocked. Your water bottle is constantly full. You might be on your own as far as cooking goes, but he’ll do everything else without really thinking about it.
Dino
I'm convinced he’d love to baby his partner. He’s cooing at the slightest sniffle and rubbing your sore muscles. He’ll do the typical medicine and soup thing, but he really goes above and beyond with the physical comfort, to whatever extent you allow him to. Baby really just hates to see you suffer and will do whatever you need to get you back to full health so he can baby you the regular amount again.

seventeens pet name for you
Tumblr media
seungcheol
baby
loves to be a caretaker so having you be his baby is natural.
he’s always holding you in his arms, almost like he’s trying to protect you from the world and keep you to himself.
when you’re tired you actually get into baby mode and he loves doting on you, knowing that you won’t fight him on it.
“baby, don’t worry i’ll do that for you”
“baby, come give me a kiss”
“baby, i missed you so much”
“baby, you know i’d do anything for you”
jeonghan
angel
sure, he’s the angel of seventeen but you’re his angel.
always says that you were sent from heaven just for him because of how perfect you are, hence an angel.
when he sees a new picture of you he’ll screenshot it and draw a halo over your head and send it back to you with a text that says ‘your halo is shining so bright, my angel’ (love makes him cheesy)
“angel, let’s stay in bed today”
“angel, can you do my hair?”
“angel, i hope you know im obsessed with you”
“angel, you’re the only one for me”
joshua
love
such a classic and gentle name, just like joshua.
he loves you so much the only word that he can think of when it comes to you is love.
if anyone calls him a simp he will gladly own that title because, duh, you’re his partner! of course he’s gonna simp over you!
will do whatever you want at the drop of a hat. he’ll even suggest cancelling his schedules if you want him to stay home, you decline but quite literally have to push him out the door to leave.
“love, come cuddle with me”
“love, i hate every second that i’m away from you”
“love, let’s get matching outfits”
“my love, you’re so perfect”
jun
sweetheart
actually spent a lot of time contemplating what your pet name should be. he didn’t want to get it wrong!
tested way too many names over multiple weeks, seeing if they rolled off the tongue, but none of them did.
finally lands on sweetheart, when he says it for the first time he knows he’s found the perfect name.
now he barely says your name, saying that sweetheart encapsulates your entire being.
“sweetheart, want me to do the dishes?”
“sweetheart, can you read me a story?”
“sweetheart, do you know how much i love you?”
“sweetheart, you’re my favorite person of all time”
soonyoung
honey
soonyoung thinks you’re sweet like honey, so he just has to call you that!
you have the same nickname for him which results in all your friends pretending to gag when you both start calling each other honey. they say it’s sickening, sickeningly sweet
likes to dote on you, would wait on hand and foot if you told him to.
“honey, do you need anything before i leave?”
“honey, i’m home!” (his favorite phrase)
“honey, let’s go on a date tonight”
“honey, you’re the sweetest person in the world”
wonwoo
babe
has always thought that pet names were cringe but when you started calling him every sweet name under the sun he knew he had to come up with one for you.
landed on the classic ‘babe’, he says it flows well, its natural when he’s talking to you now.
doesn’t want anyone else to hear him call you it, so he usually sticks to saying it at home or whispering it to you.
“babe, stay by my side, i don’t want anything happening to you”
“babe, don’t get up yet it’s too early”
“babe, you wanna see my new game?”
“babe, i adore you”
jihoon
baby
another natural caretaker, loves to be the big strong man in the relationship so naturally you’re his baby.
gets salty when you try to dote on him since he knows he should be doing it to you instead.
landed on it because you were pouting once and he said the resemblance to a baby was uncanny.
“baby, you don’t have to stay at the studio with me”
“baby, get some sleep”
“baby, let’s stay in tonight”
“baby, i know i don’t show it as much as i should, but i’m eternally grateful for you”
minghao
darling
claims that their song ‘darling’ is about you to try and make it special (it was just a coincidence but you’ll take it)
says you’re like a sparkling jewel, so perfect, so enchanting, and so darling
always talks to you in the most endearing tone, he can never be mad at you.
“darling, what do you want to have for dinner?”
“darling, let me take a picture of you”
“darling, don’t forget to call me on your break”
“darling, you’re so precious to me”
mingyu
sweetie
loves to bake you desserts and say something like ‘a sweet for my sweetie’.
thinks you’re so sweet and lovely that sweetie is a given name for you.
food is his love language so he’s always making you meals and sweet desserts.
“sweetie, try this new dish i made”
“sweetie, give me a kiss before you go”
“sweetie, give me a bite of that”
“sweetie, you’re it for me”
seokmin
love/lovie
this man is simply obsessed with, so so utterly in love, hence the name love.
everyone swears they can see hearts in his eyes when he looks at you or talks about you.
couldn’t think of a good name for you so he went to his friends being like ‘i’m so in love with them but i can’t think of a pet name! wait… love!’
“lovie, don’t forget about me :(” (you’re just going to work for the day)
“love, do you want to come to karaoke night?”
“lovie, i’m your favorite guy, right?”
“my love~, i wrote this song for you, wanna hear it?”
seungkwan
boo
yes, his nickname for you is his last name. no, it’s not weird! he’ll call you mrs./mr. boo because he can’t wait until you have his last name.
when some calls for ‘boo’ you both turn around, thinking it was for you. this just makes you both laugh and look at each other like you had a little inside secret that no one else understood.
he’ll always say it with literal hearts in his eyes.
“boo, have a good day at work”
“my boo~, i miss you”
“boo, do you want to go have a spa night?”
“my boo~, i love you to the ends of the earth”
vernon
babe
also thinks pet names are cringe so he settled on the most obvious and classic one.
but then actually he starts to like it (to his horror), and starts to call you it all the time.
only ever calls you babe now, and will be salty if you call him by his first or middle name.
“babe, get ready i’m taking you on a date”
“babe, i got you a present you’re gonna love it”
“babe, we should get a cat to be the ring bearer at our wedding”
“babe, you know i love you, right?”
chan
honey
you originally started calling chan ‘honey’ first.
he always got so giddy whenever you said it that he decided he was gonna start calling you that too, to make you feel as special as he did.
thinks it the most special name in the world and if anyone makes fun of it he’ll go to war over it.
“honey, let me show you the new dance i learned”
“honey, did you get a haircut? you look beautiful as ever”
“honey, let’s stay in bed today”
“honey, you’re my everything”

Mingyu x reader
Pov: watching a movie with your bf Mingyu turns the both of you on despite his roommate being mere feet away
Warning: penetration.
Mingyu
Standing in the kitchen without a shirt, the golden hour sunset was casting a spotlight on his golden brown skin. You sat on the sofa watching as his muscles flexed with every move. You had just finished binge watching a new zombie series on Netflix and when you mentioned being the slightest bit hungry your sweet, caring boyfriend jumped up at the chance to cook for you. Since you started dating he had taken more of a role of caretaker as the time went on. His roommate, Wonwoo, who was watching the series with you both excused himself to his room so he could get a little bit of a gaming session in before the food was done.
Mingyu wiped the sweat from his forehead, his bangs sticking to his skin from the steam, and turned around and flashed that million watt smile at you, his little fangs barely showing above his lower lip. He spooned some of the soup he was making and motioned for you to come to the kitchen to try it. He was making your favorite, yukgaejang, and he watched as the steamy spoonful of broth made its way into your mouth. He watched as some of the liquid dripped down the side of your mouth. Before you could lick it off he whispered, “I got it,” and wiped it away with his thumb. When that didn’t quite get all of the oil off he put his mouth to yours and you could feel his tongue circling the space right below your lips. Shivers went up and down your body. While you were watching the last episode of the show you noticed Mingyu was caressing your leg under the blanket, inching his way up your thigh until you shook him off since his roommate was a few feet away on the other sofa. You didn’t realize he was that riled up.
When you looked in his eyes, his normal puppy dog expression had taken on a darker look. You reached up and grabbed either side of his face and pulled him towards you to kiss him harder. As you wrapped your arms around his next he grabbed your ass and lifted you onto the counter, which was a perfect height since he was a lot taller than you. You opened your legs for him to nestle in between and you could feed his bulge pressing against your wetness causing a moan to escape your lips.
“You feel it, too?” He asked in heavy gasps. You mmhmmed into his mouth and you couldn’t get close enough to each other. With his left hand he was cradling your neck and grabbing your hair. With his right hand he was cupping your ass and holding you closer to his body. Your nails dug into his honey brown shoulders. When he couldn’t take it anymore he slid one hand down the front of your panties, feeling the sticky gumminess that clung to your walls.
“Are you ready for me, baby?” he whispered in your ear.
“Fuck yes,” you replied.
He pulled down the waistband to his sweatpants, causing his hard throbbing dick to bounce with excitement. He grabbed it and rubbed it with the stickiness from your insides before sliding it in, closing his eyes and throwing his head back in pleasure.
As he filled you up you held on to his shoulders, allowing yourself to take him in. He moaned into your neck as you grabbed the back of his head and pushed him towards your breast which he attacked like a ravenous animal. He licked, nibbled and sucked his way across your chest, leaving no inch untouched. His thrusts started off slow and rhythmic then picked up tempo and became so feral and erratic that you had to hold on to his broad shoulders for dear life. Sweat was running down his back making it a little slippery so you tighten your thigh grip around his waist, tightening your walls and making him moan louder. His bangs were sticking to his forehead and he refused to cum until you did.
“Does that feel good, baby?” he asked. “Are you gonna cum for me?”
“Yes, Mingyu, please don’t stop,” you moaned into his shoulder. His skin had a spicy musk to it, intoxicating your senses. He leaned back to watch himself going in and out of you, both of your slickness creating a thick white cream at the base of his throbbing cock turning him on even more.
“I can’t hold it baby, I’m going to cum soon,” he exhaled. His face winced with painful pleasure then he leaned down to start sucking on your nipple, bringing you to the edge of nirvana. He could feel your body twitching,
“Don’t stop, Mingyu, please don’t stop,” you yelled as he thrust harder and faster. As the pressure built up between the both of you your bodies spasmed together, a big sweaty mess. He screamed your name as you screamed his name and you both all but collapsed against the kitchen cabinets. The back of your head rested on the cabinets, Mingyu rested on your chest gasping for air. After Mingyu had wiped you clean with dampened paper towels and you both had your clothes back on did a smiling Wonwoo come out of his room with his headphones hanging around his neck.
“Did I miss something?” He looked confused around the kitchen.
“No, hyung, food’s ready to be served.” Mingyu flashed him an innocent puppy dog smile.
“Oh okay,” Wonwoo replied before sitting down still confused at the flushed look on both of your faces.

in 662 𝔰𝔦𝔩𝔩𝔞, you leave your hometown in search for your father, a physician whose work takes him far from home and oft to the battlefields of the kingdom. but with no word from him in months, you disguise yourself as a man and head to seorabeol, the kingdom’s capital, in search of him. it’s not until you become involved with a group that calls themselves the 𝔥𝔴𝔞𝔯𝔞𝔫𝔤 that things begin to unravel at the seams.

𝔍𝔞𝔫𝔲𝔞𝔯𝔶 3𝔯𝔡, 661 - 𝔖𝔢𝔬𝔯𝔞𝔟𝔢𝔬𝔩, 𝔎𝔦𝔫𝔤𝔡𝔬𝔪 𝔬𝔣 𝔖𝔦𝔩𝔩𝔞 It has been two months since your father left. And those two months felt like a lifetime. It isn't that you are so solely dependent on your caretaker that you’d let your home and his practice fall into ruin. It’s just that he said he’d be gone for at most two weeks while he attended to a patient in Seorabeol. He’d neglected to write, forgotten, maybe. But he isn't a careless man, you know that as much as he. Perhaps that’s why you find yourself so stricken with apprehension as you near the gates of Silla’s capital, the dirt under foot hard in the dead of winter.
The gates of the city stand menacingly in front of you, the grip you have on the knapsack slung over your shoulder tightens as you begin to notice the mass of people making their way in and out of the city. You have to dodge every nudging elbow prodding into your back to move you forward, duck or sway when a merchant’s wares almost topple from their carts and try not to make eye contact with the soldiers who line the entrance.
Eventually, you make it into the city with little to no fuss raised about you, everyone seems so deeply enthralled with their own business you are easily out of their minds. Yet now that you stand in the streets of Seorabeol, you don’t know which way to go. It isn't as if your father had left a directory for you to follow him up on, nor had any of his letters detailed his whereabouts in the capital in full. So, you sigh and continue forward, beginning to scan the crowds in search of a face you haven’t seen in months.
Despite the golden sun shining down onto the Kingdom’s capital, Seorabeol lies under a blanket of cold air. And despite the layers of cloth and fur adorning your shoulders the wintery chill sets into your bones as you continue along the streets.
Through the passing greetings of friends, the shouts of merchants and the bickering of their patrons, the voices collide together in a symphony of noise, you can’t seem to pull one apart from the other. No faces look at you with recognition, but why would they? This isn't your home, and you are surely just another visitor that they’d forget as soon as you leave their line of sight.
You had come to the capital when you were a child, your father had been called upon by some aristocratic family, but you could scarcely remember who it had been. After the patient had been treated the pair of you had retreated to your village some distance away from Seorabeol, the memory of this place and its people quickly leaving your subconscious.
Even now, after the partial loss of that memory, you can recall how cold the city had been compared to how cold it is now. It might be due to the winter chill that resides like a phantom over the streets, but this feels different, more ominous now that you’re old enough to realize it.
Had you been right to leave your home?
The question plagues you as you wander the winding streets, your legs tired from your trek and eyes even heavier from the lost sleep over the course of your father’s absence. You question, ask if anyone had heard your father’s name or had seen him before, but conclude that those who had seen or met him had done so weeks prior.
And then you ask of Namekawa Yasuo, an acquaintance of your father’s. He is another physician that might know where he resides. But that inquiry leaves you with a snickers and a turn of the other’s heels. It is most likely that your father and his friend had ventured on to another town from here. You are alone once again.
Before you realize it, dusk has fallen over the city, the gray clouds beginning to unleash a torrent of snowy flurries that make the streets become almost unnavigable. Your hands pull your overcoat together, trying to find warmth where you already know there won't be. If you don’t want to freeze to death, you’ll have to find somewhere to stay the night or die by freezing or by some wandering bandit.
“Excuse me,” you call out as you stop traversing the road, turning to the side and over to a small stall aligning the street. Eyes locking with those of a miserly sort of merchant, you poise the question, “Do you know where the nearest inn is?”
For a moment you've forgotten that you’re wearing your father’s clothes, so when the grizzled voice of the merchant asks if you’re looking for a pleasure house to get lost, you are somewhat puzzled. It's only with a moment of insistence that you’re just looking for a normal inn, do they comply.
“Past the butcher’s, it’s cheap enough.” He turns away from you with that final statement, continuing to close up his stall and lock his goods away until the next morning.
A quick nod and you’re off, the lanterns aligning the street only helping when the flurries die down a bit and you’re able to see several meters in front of you. You quicken your pace whenever you hear someone behind you, all too skittish to get out of this outbreak of snow. It isn't as if you fear the city’s inhabitants, but you’d heard warnings throughout your life that traveling alone at nighttime isn't ever a great idea. Maybe being dressed as a man should put you more at ease, but the message ingrained into your brain is even more overpowering.
The city grows even darker as you fail to find the inn that the merchant had mentioned, had you already passed it? Ahead of you looks to be one of the agate walls aligning the city, stopping you dead in your tracks as you think of where to go next.
“Hey, kid.” A voice calls out behind you, it sounds disjointed, slurred. Are they drunk?
You spin on your heels, your hand reaching for your bag, for the small blade you’d tucked away in case of an instance like this. But it isn't just one man, it is three men swaying on their feet. Even at some distance away you can smell the sickeningly sweet scent of their perfumes and notice the bright colors their robes are made of. They are of some standing in society, but with the way they are presenting themselves, you suspect they are of the aristocracy’s lower ranks.
“Can I help you?” Using a lower register of your voice as you speak, as if it’ll somehow cast some sort of intimidation onto the men, you nod at them. Your fingers gently undo the string on your bag, reaching around for your blade. When you were younger your father had encouraged lessons, somewhat breaking the mold as for what was appropriate for a girl to learn, but your father had always been the unconventional sort.
“That’s a pretty blade,” one notes as you slip the weapon from the bag, the sheen from the hilt catching in the light of the streetlamp above. It is then you realize that they are probably more interested in the family heirloom than they are in you. “Seems a little extravagant for a commoner like you to have.”
“Why don’t you hand it over? We’d put it to much better use,” another snickers, stumbling forward and reaching his hand out towards you. Their heavily jeweled wrist chimes as their hand outstretches towards you, the gold glimmering in the now open moonlight.
“But this is…” you hesitate, understanding that they wouldn’t comprehend its sentimentality. The handle of the blade is cool under your grip as your knees tense. It doesn’t look as if any of the men are going to stop harassing you until they get what they are after, your only choice now is to get away from them at any cost.
So, you run. Feet slapping atop the ground, the tops of your shoes becoming wetted by the puddles of melted snow you step into as you bolt down a side street.
“Son of a— get back here!” You hear one of them call out after you, the collective sounds of their footfalls chasing after you only seconds later.
It seems like you were running for hours, your heartbeat loud in your ears and the cold air tearing at your lungs with every breath you inhale. They are still chasing after you, they sound more distant now, but their curses and footfalls still echo the street behind you. You spot an alley and decide to duck into it for an attempt at eluding them.
There are several long sheets of wood leaning against the side of one of the houses, finding it an apt hiding place, you crawl under them, trying to calm your breathing as you hear the footsteps of the nobles approach.
“Are you sure it was this one?” You hear a voice after a few seconds at the opening of the alley, the labored breathing tells you it is one of your pursuers.
“It had to have been,” the voices and footfalls edging closer, the clinking of their belts signaling their proximity.
You hold your breath, expecting to be found out any second. But you’re not, instead the air goes quiet, the sound of the wind whistling through the alleyway all you can hear. It isn’t until a few seconds later that one of the men cries out in pain.
Before you can peek out from behind the board you stop yourself, not wanting to be caught by those men or whoever had caught them.
“What do you think you’re doing!” One of the men cries out, you hear a blade being unsheathed as they speak.
Another blade unsheathed, the sounds of iron on iron clanging through the air for a few seconds before one of the men speaks out again, “Why aren’t you dying?” A few bated breaths, “Jinyoung, we should get out of here—”
Something akin to primal fear takes over you at that moment, locking you in place, unable to move for a moment. What is out there? What are they fighting? With your mind flying with all sorts of gruesome imagery, you barely have time to comprehend what you are doing. Your head peeks out from your hiding spot and into the alleyway.
There’s another clangor of steel as you look, the light from the street reflecting off one of the blades as two people are interlocked in a fight. The only figure you can see fighting is donned in a light blue robe, had they saved you?
Something of a menacing laugh emits from them, their blade once again falling onto the other’s as one of your pursuers cries out for help. Your savior says nothing as he stops his attacks, only now moving to raise his blade over his head and bringing it down to fatally slash against the chest of his foe. The struck noble lets out an anguished yell as he falls to his knees, the sword in hand clattering to the ground as he reaches to try and staunch the blood flow from the gash in his chest.
A high-pitched laugh overtakes the man’s anguish, the man donned in blue still standing over his opponent and nearly snickering at his demise. You have to hold your hands to your mouth to stop you from gasping when the blue-clad man raises his sword once more. He begins hacking away at the now vanquished noble, his blows tearing into flesh more so like a butcher’s knife than a sword. There isn't skill, just a raw brutality behind every blow.
The screams grow quiet, just wet bellows that still after a moment more. Your breath heavy and your chest heaving after watching that, you’d just witnessed that man’s murder. Wanting to get away from this situation, you fall back under the cover of the wood, your back hitting the house’s exterior as you try and keep yourself together. The man keeps hacking away, the splatter of blood on the ground and onto the nearby walls almost causing you to be sick to your stomach.
This isn't human, it couldn’t be. Sure, it’s a man committing the act but the brutality of it is more akin to a beast. It is as if they’d forgone any sense and given way into a psychotic madness.
A coppery tinge to the air almost makes you gag; the scent of the deceased man’s blood has risen to greet you. How are you going to get out of this?
You pull your hands away from your face, the cold air meeting your skin all too unpleasantly. If you stay in place the killer would easily find you if he wants to, perhaps your best bet is to outrun him like you had the now deceased nobles. So, you brace yourself, pushing yourself up to your knees and prepare to make a dash down the alleyway and towards the opening on the other end. But as you do, you find that your joints have locked, sending you stumbling forward as you stand and knocking the sheets of wood over. With a dreadful fear encasing you, you turn to see that it hadn’t been just one man to kill the three that are after you, but two others had joined him as well, all wearing the light blue robes. All of them drenched in the blood of the fallen nobles.
Their eyes bore into yours, smiles etching their way onto their faces as if you’ve become the lamb brought to the slaughter. You have to run, have to get away. But you can’t, your legs are locked in place out of the sheer madness of this situation. They laugh as they turn towards you, wordless in any other manner as they begin to saunter over to you, their silvery hair and reddened eyes looking almost ghostly in the moonlight.
You are going to die. You can’t even muster a scream to call out to any city patrol, nor move your limbs with how wrought with fear you are.
Eyes closing as you begin to accept your fate, the sounds of their footsteps nearing, you can almost sense them lifting their blades to cut you down before— A whirring through the air and a grunt from one of the men in front of you has your eyes flying open. Someone had shot an arrow and hit one of the silver-haired men, causing them to stumble back a step or two. In theory, a blow like that should have downed a man, an arrow to the chest isn’t a superficial wound by any means, but it looks like the man is more angrier now rather than injured.
The trio raise their swords, their target now someone behind you, and before you're able to turn and see who or what it is, a glint of a silver blade flashes across your vision and cuts in front of you. You’re able to feel the warm blood splatter across your cheek before you register what just happened in front of you. Now the trio of men lay on the ground, dead by the looks of it, as a long gash seems to have torn across their bodies. The same queasiness from before begins to invade you as you wipe the gore from your cheek onto your sleeve, but before you’re able to do anything else about it, you hear a voice behind you.
“Is this really what we’re dealing with tonight?” It’s a sigh of disappointment, but somewhere in the tone there is almost a sound of amusement. “I wanted to take them out myself, couldn’t you have picked a different patrol group, Captain Choi?” You turn to see two men behind you, clad in the same blue as the murderers, but they look calmer, despite the one talking having a grin plastered onto his face.
“I did my job,” the one that must be Captain Choi sighs, watching the other slinging the bow he’d used to shoot one of the men around his shoulder before moving to withdraw the sword he’d used to slay the men that had been after you. “Unlike you, I’m not getting any gratification out of this.”
“That’s a little rude,” his partner laughs.
“You’re not even trying to hide it,” Captain Choi frowns, he carries the air as if he’s dealt with the other’s antics for quite some time. His gaze then flickers from the trio of fallen men to you.
“You know me well enough to know that I’m joking,” the other shakes his head and turns to look at you. “If you had just let them kill the kid you could’ve saved us some trouble, though.” Despite the lightness in his tone, the content of his speech made the same chill of fear creep down your spine. You’d escaped the nobles and the murderers, but now a different foe stands before you.
“Maybe,” Captain Choi notes, “but this isn’t our decision to make.”
Your brow furrows as they speak, by what they are saying it would leave you to believe that these men are a part of some sort of organization. Thinking more on it, you only knew of one group prominent enough to walk the streets of Seorabeol at night in place of any military patrol. Were these truly members of the Hwarang?
Before you’re able to part your lips to ask, a figure rounds the corner behind the two men and makes his way over to you. He wears the same blue as them, his hair styled the same way with a headband across his forehead and his long locks held in a topknot atop his head. The other two grow silent as he approaches, denoting some sort of superiority as he stands shoulder to shoulder with them.
His gaze travels behind you, looking at the splayed out remains, and then returns to you, a frown adorning his lips. “It doesn’t seem like luck was on your side tonight.” He speaks sharply, as if his words are whettened by the same stone that had sharpened his blade. The cold blue of the moonlight reflects off the blade in his grasp as he raises it towards your chest, sending another bolt of dread to your stomach. Although it isn't necessarily the steel pointed at your heart that makes you feel this way, it’s the way his gaze bores into you. It is cold and fierce, but there is another emotion stowed away that you aren’t fully comprehending. Mercy, maybe? The man fully seems capable of killing you instantly, but he looks somewhat troubled. “If you run, I will kill you. Do you understand?”
You nod immediately, knowing full well that he wouldn’t back down on that statement. He stares at you for a moment longer before sighing and sheathing his sword.
“W- What?” Too surprised to stop yourself, you blurt out the question as the man crosses his arms.
“Are you sure about this Lee?” The snarkier of the two others asks, his eyes narrowing at the one he’d called out to, “The kid saw everything, and didn't even say thanks for saving his sorry ass.”
Lee frowns, “Quiet. If you keep saying that then you know what we’ll have to do.”
With their apprehension to mention what had just occurred, it’s clear that you’d seen something you weren’t supposed to. The more they said the easier it is to figure out what they are trying to hide and no one wants that.
“Don’t you think it’ll come back to bite us in the ass if we let him go?” With the way the Hwarang speaks it sounds as if he can read your mind.
“And so the right thing to do would be killing him? No,” Lee shakes his head, “We’ll see what to do with the kid once we get back.”
“I agree with the Commander, the longer we stay here the more likely we’re to be seen… Again.” Choi adds, moving to sheath his own sword and look at the creatures they’d slain as though he hadn’t seen them before. “If this is their reaction to blood, I don’t think they’ll have a practical use.”
“Damn…” Lee looks down to the corpses, an emotionless expression on his face before he looks back to his companions. “As for you two, stop with the ‘Lee’ and ‘commander’, we’re trying to keep a low profile.”
“You can’t be serious, our robes are a big giveaway,” the nameless Hwarang snorts.
“What should we do with the bodies? There doesn’t seem to be any physical signs…” Choi notes, looking at Lee.
The commander thinks for a moment, “Just take their robes, Chan can deal with the rest.”
“Understood.”
“Another man killed in the streets of Seorabeol,” the other Hwarang sighs out before bellowing out a bark of laughter, “We’re doing a great job, aren’t we?”
“As long as we don’t talk about it, I don’t think anyone will know we were here,” Lee looks at you and you get the feeling that his words aren’t directed towards his companions. It isn't uncommon for people to be murdered in the capital, with rising tensions across the kingdoms as different factions had been popping up everywhere and leading anywhere from small to large fights. Seeing it happen is a different story.
“Hmm, we did save you, didn’t we?” The nameless Hwarang muses as he looks at you.
Eyes widening at his statement. Despite his earlier attempts of pursuing after your death, he and Choi had saved you from the murderers. “Thank you,” you bow, hesitantly as you don’t trust them entirely. “I’m sorry for not thanking you earlier, there was just so much going on…”
Looking back up at the three, they look almost as confused as you feel. You quickly break eye contact and look down to the ground, “It’s a little strange to say that… but he told me I should say thanks so—”
Gaze returning to the men, Lee and Choi are looking at anywhere but you while the third man is shaking with laughter.
“I guess I did tell you to, didn’t I?” He laughs again, doubling over to the point he has to wipe a few tears away from his eyes before straightening up. “You’re welcome, I’m Boo Seungkwan. Nice to meet someone who actually knows how to be polite.”
“Thanks for helping me…”
“The one you should be thanking is Captain Choi Hansol over here, and this bossy guy—” He begins again but is abruptly stopped by Lee.
“The hell do you think you’re doing, Boo?” He frowns as he turns towards Seungkwan.
“I understand your concerns, commander, but we have to move.” Whatever pervasive happiness that had penetrated the bloodied air dissipated with Hansol’s words.
Boo reaches out and grabs your wrist, gives you a small smirk and begins to lead you out of the alleyway and down the street. His grip is too rough and tight to be friendly, his fingers feel like stone wrapped around you. There isn't any question about the situation you now find yourself in; if you are to run you are to be killed. Your life is now in their hands and up to their discretion.
“It would be best if you prepared for the worst,” Hansol says as you traverse the streets of Seorabeol, wondering how the sight of their bloodstained robes isn’t catching anyone’s attention. “I doubt this will end well for you.” His words are sharper than the blades of cold that soar through the streets, tearing into your chest.
𝔍𝔞𝔫𝔲𝔞𝔯𝔶 4𝔱𝔥, 661 - 𝔖𝔢𝔬𝔯𝔞𝔟𝔢𝔬𝔩, 𝔎𝔦𝔫𝔤𝔡𝔬𝔪 𝔬𝔣 𝔖𝔦𝔩𝔩𝔞 The harshness of the sunlight beaming in through a nearby window pulls you from a dreamless slumber, the ground underneath you far too hard to allow you a peaceful enough rest for such frivolities. Head reeling at the events of the night prior, it isn’t until you try and rub the sleep from your eyes that you realize where you are exactly. The knot roping your hands together brushes against your wrists, the fibers of the cordage causing the skin to burn.
Looking around the room, you realize that there isn’t anyone else present. In a way that makes you feel a little more comfortable, but again, waking up in an unfamiliar place is sure to keep you on edge. You writhe on the floor for a moment, realizing that your feet had been bound too, the blankets that had been strewn atop you falling away and pooling on the floor beside you. A dull ache in your back tells you that you’d be feeling the consequence of sleeping on such a surface for the next day or so, the twisting already signaling a crick in your neck as well. For as dull as your own home had seemed to you as a child, you miss it now more than ever.
“This is a nightmare,” a sigh under your breath as you think to the men who you’d come across the night prior, and whatever situation they’d found you in.
Finding the scrambling on the ground unhelpful, you lay back down, your bound hands falling atop your stomach as you stare up at the dark ceiling.
It’s only a few moments later that you hear the gentle slide of the wooden door across from you, noting that someone is making an appearance. You try your best to sit up, looking at the face of the newcomer and realizing quickly that it isn't one of the men with whom you’d been acquainted with last night.
“Are you awake?” a small and awkward smile as they peek their head into the room, they pause for a moment as they notice the ropes binding you. Their brow furrows as they step fully into the room, “This isn’t normally how we treat guests… If you’ll give me a moment, I’ll untie you.”
A silent nod as they approach, loosening the ropes around your ankles as you can now sit up freely, unencumbered by the restrictive ties. You note that he’d left your hands bound, you can understand why but the chafing still hurts.
“Who are you?” You question as they step back, a small smile quirking on their face as they move to kneel by your side.
“Ah, my name’s Song Eunseok,” he says, a look overcoming him as if he’d forgotten himself for a moment.
“Thank you… Eunseok.” Muttering out as he stands, offering out his arm to you to help you rise from the floor.
“A few of the captains want to talk to you,” there’s something likened to a worry in his eyes, you hardly know the kid, but he reads like an open book. “If you’d just follow me…”
And you do, walking in silence through the compound for a moment or two before the younger speaks up again. “They’ve been discussing what to do with you since they woke up. I think they’re going to try and hear what you’ve got to say and see if they’ve got to report you or not…”
“Report me?”
“Mhm,” he nods as his feet slide over the smooth floorboards. “We’re not like the city guard or anything, so we don’t have that much jurisdiction over—” Eunseok pauses, a hand raising to his mouth as if he’s said too much. He lets out a nervous chuckle, “Well, you’ll see.”
Eunseok’s courtesy is nice, better than that of those men you’d seen last night. But it has an air to it that tells you to be cautious, you are the one impeding on their space and it is their judgment to dole out.
As if he can tell you are on edge, the younger one says, “They might seem scary at first but they’re really not that bad.”
The Hwarang themselves don’t have a tainted name, but you know that the ones located in the different towns and localities of Silla had varying degrees of severity. And with this being the unit of the capital, you don’t expect them to be anything less than vicious towards any perceived troublemaking.
“You’re actually probably around the same age as our commander, well, we’re all really around the same age,” his laugh resounds around the space for a moment, his hand trailing up to his ear to toy with a small, dangling earring attached to it. “Captain Kim and Captain Wen tend to sate any tension too so I wouldn’t worry all too much.”
Eunseok’s reassurances go partially on deaf ears as you approach what seems to be the main building. Through the hanji walls you can hear muffled chatter as the people inside are undeniably trying to decide your fate. With a steady hand, Eunseok slides open the door and motions you inside.
You don’t need to announce yourself, as the sound of you entering causes several heads to turn in your direction. A quick glance around the room tells you that these are probably the heads of the Hwarang. Their own gazes feel like daggers, picking you apart silently and without a care other than what the hell your presence means to them.
“I take it you slept well, then?” A voice to your right calling out to you. You turn your head to see Seungkwan, or at least that’s what he’d been referred to as last night, glaring at you with a smirk on his lips. His attire is different from last night, as were the robes of the several others you recognize standing around, more lavish than what their Hwarang uniforms had been yesterday. The red of his robes feels even more threatening to you in lieu of this situation.
“It wasn’t… great.” A small frown as you respond, noticing his brow contort into an irritated expression. You grit your teeth, maybe it would be better to kiss up to them?
“Is that right?” His shoulders shrug, “When I went to check on you earlier you didn’t move at all, no matter how many times I tried to wake you up.” Seungkwan sighs out, “You looked like you were dead to the world.”
You don’t say anything, feeling a rise of embarrassment in your stomach at his words.
“Don’t take what he says too seriously,” another face emerging from the mass, belonging to another man you’d met last night. You think it’s the one they’d called Choi Hansol. “Seungkwan didn’t go anywhere near your room.”
A devilish grin spreads over Seungkwan’s face as he sees how flustered his statement has gotten you, “You didn’t need to ruin the fun that quickly, Hansol.”
“Captain Choi didn’t do anything wrong though, you though—” a glare at Seungkwan, your fingers rubbing together as you try to find the will to butt heads with him.
“That’s enough.” A voice cuts through your conversation swiftly, drawing your attention to the figure standing at the head of the room. Their head hangs low, as if they were just listening to the chatter before calling out. “You sound like a bunch of kids.” It is the third man from last night, Commander Lee.
“This is your witness Commander?” A new voice with a deeper tone, calls out from your left. You turn to see three men sitting together, presumably having been conversing with one another prior to your arrival.
The notoriety of the Hwarang stems from the fact that they only chose youthful men to be a part of their organization, you can see that while glancing around to the other faces in the room. Maybe you’d expected them all to be a little older, but it seems as if the eldest is just in his late twenties or so.
“He’s just a stick,” the voice continues, you see that it looks like the younger of the trio’s talking. His hand rests lazily over his knee as he looks you over, a frown settled onto his lips.
“You’re calling him a kid, Kwon?” One of the other men sitting snickers, “That’s funny.”
So, that’s at least one of their names.
“Put them together and they’d look just like scared little kids,” the second speaker sighs out, head resting lazily in his hand.
“I can call them that because I’m a mature adult, obviously.” The two begin to have a bickering discourse, glaring at one another from their seated positions.
“Mature adult?” The other barks, his hand moving from his cheek in disbelief, “Wen, I knew you weren’t smart but that’s a reach even for you.”
Their tones aren’t angry, more so a taunting argument between two friends. It is lighthearted enough but if you’d just been passing by and not listened fully you might’ve just seen it as two people arguing. Were these the two people that Eunseok had mentioned, Kim and Wen?
“You’re just a pair of grumpy old men,” Kwon rolls his eyes, “I think you’re both going senile.”
“You think you can get away with talking to us like that?” the one you presumed to be Wen scoffs, “I’m hardly old enough to be called old… Kim here though…”
“I thought we were friends, you son of a bitch,” Kim looks to the other, an expression of faux hurt caked onto his brow. “And you both are older than I am.”
“Real adults, my ass,” Kwon shakes his head at the two. The back and forth between the three is certainly interesting to watch, it is almost as if they’d been going at it like this for years with one another.
Despite their light-hearted banter, it doesn’t downplay the tension you feel encroaching on this space. This is the home of the Hwarang, and you are an outsider, foreign to them in almost every way possible.
“I’ll apologize on their behalf,” a soft voice says, it comes from one of the men standing next to Lee. “Don’t let them unsettle you too much.” The warmth emanating from his tone is enough to make you relax even in the slightest bit, forgetting for a moment the peril you may be in.
“Don’t kid yourself,” the Commander speaks up, shooting a glance to the other, “You’re the scariest one out of all of us, Choi Seungcheol.” You’re almost too lost in looking at the one who’d spoken to notice the number of heads nodding in agreement with Lee.
“Really? I get that from the other men but from our own demon commander?” Choi muses, his hand toying with the long strands of hair falling over his shoulder before looking at his compatriot, “I feel a little flattered. I only try to hold the Hwarang to the highest standard I can.” His hand falls away from his hair, settling to rest on the hilt of his sword fastened around his waist in such a relaxed manner you hadn’t realized he’d had it on him in the first place, “Although I suppose it’s easy to get confused when our standards… or maybe our taboos, are at your mercy.”
“Maybe you’re right, but this isn’t the time to get into that,” Lee sighs out, a small smirk mirroring Choi’s, his gaze once again pinpointing on you after a moment.
“You’re lucky to have a friend like that, Jihoon,” a new voice comments. The dialogue between Choi and the Hwarang’s Commander hadn’t been exactly what you would call ‘friendly’. It is cold and lacks the warmth that had flowed between the prior conversation with the other three captains. Although from the way the new face had spoken it sounds as if he had perceived the pair as such.
“I haven’t introduced myself,” he says, turning from the pair and facing you. “Sorry, my name is Kwak Youngmin, the leader of the Hwarang. Or at least, this division,” he chuckles at himself.
“So, you’re the most important man in the Hwarang?” A tilt of your head as you look at him, his presence is far less intimidating than the handful of others that had come before him.
“Well,” another short laugh, “I wouldn’t go that far. I merely represent everyone in the Hwarang. Jihoon’s the commander and Seungcheol’s more or less the colonel.”
“Don’t you think that’s important information to be divulging, Youngmin?” Jihoon cuts the other off, arms crossing over his chest as he continues to glare at you.
“Ah,” Youngmin’s brow softens, a confusion taking over his demeanor, “Do you think it’s a bad idea?”
“Unless you want them to learn everything about us,” a grunt as Wen pushes himself up off of the floor and strides over, quickly followed by Kwon and Kim, “I think you’d better keep your mouth shut.”
“Exactly! We don’t owe him anything,” Kwon adds, glancing over to you.
“Those are good points…” Youngmin cedes for a moment, “But it’s rude to ignore your guests, isn’t it?”
A laugh from Kim as he shakes his head, “I guess you’re right.”
Youngmin perks up ever so slightly, he’d looked dejected at Jihoon’s words and it seems as if the affirmation helped his mood. His demeanor is much more cheerful than the others, seeming to radiate a positivity that hadn’t been shed amongst the others.
Another smile flashes on his lips as he looks at you, it's brief but there’s a coolness in his gaze that tells you the newly found lightened mood is due for a change.
“Now, let’s get back to why we’re here,” he glances at Hansol before speaking again, “Can you tell me what happened last night?”
“Last night we were on patrol when we encountered a band of thugs wandering the streets. They attacked first so we fought.” Hansol’s voice is calm as he recounts the events, calmer than you would ever be in his shoes. “A few of the men were able to subdue them,” His eyes look to you, prodding at your own take on the events that had transpired.
“I didn’t see what happened,” you insist, shaking your head as you lock eyes with the speaker.
Despite that, you can feel Jihoon’s glare boring into you. It is akin to the harshness of a parent severely scolding their child. Hansol’s expression doesn’t change, despite the pleading in your gaze, and in your peripheral vision, Seungkwan continues to smirk at you.
“Positive you didn’t see anything?” Kwon prompts, causation enough for you to turn your attention back to him and his other two compatriots.
“I didn’t,” you press, trying to muster as much authority in your voice as you can.
“Hmm,” his hand moves under his chin as your eyes dart from Wen to Kim before settling back onto Kwon. “If that's the case then I really don’t see what the problem is.”
“Didn’t Seungkwan say you helped out some of the guys?” Kim mumbles, his arms crossed as if he is deep in thought.
Your brow furrows before you begin to shake your head once again, this time a little more vehemently, “That isn’t true.” The plastered grin on Seungkwan’s face remains, despite the accusatory glance you throw to him. “I was trying to get away from those noble thugs, or whoever they were and then some men in Hwarang robes showed up, if anything, they helped me out.”
“So, then you saw them apprehend those men?” It is lightly put, the flashes of viscera still playing in your mind occasionally. Kim is testing the waters and you are beginning to sink your own ship.
“I…” You can’t deny it, something tells you that if they even get a whiff of inaccuracy, you’ll be in much deeper shit than you are in now.
“If you’re not going to say anything, we can only assume you saw everything, right?” Kim questions. The silence you emit must be answer enough for him as he sighs and continues, “I can tell you’ve got an honest heart, and that’s not a bad thing, really, but…” The eeriness of that sentence puts you on edge, will the next thing that falls from his mouth be the words that would damn you?
“I promise I won’t tell anyone what I saw!” The words fall from your lips, blithely and almost incoherent as your hands clench together.
“Hmm,” Seungcheol’s gentle hum resounds around the room after your outburst. “The attack doesn’t seem like it wasn’t deliberate. Yet, it also seems unlikely that you’re our enemy. Even if you have good intentions, we will still have to interrogate you... Can you handle torture?”
Images of bodies rolled in straw mats and being beaten with wooden sticks courses through you, of what they could possibly do to you. Seungcheol’s words, despite the warmness of his voice, are cold, calculating. The hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, unable to respond to such a question without an air of incredulity.
“Staying quiet is easy, but if you were captured, you’d have no loyalty to us regarding what you saw.” Hansol points out nonchalantly.
“Let’s just kill him,” Seungkwan shrugs, almost as if the thought doesn’t carry the weight of your life, “That’s the only surefire way to not have him talk.”
“Seungkwan, that isn’t our way.” Youngmin interjects, his brow furrowing at the other, before you can protest, “We don’t run around murdering civilians.”
The other laughs, “Don’t look at me, I was only kidding.” It sure hadn’t felt like it. Nor had it sounded like it either.
“You may need to work on your delivery, then.” Hansol shakes his head, as Seungkwan chuckles with that cheshire-like grin.
“If anything, he can’t be that much older than me,” Eunseok, who until up to this remained silent, speaks out from behind you. You hear his feet tread across the floorboards until he’s standing by your side, “That’d almost be killing a kid, wouldn’t it?”
“I don’t want to kill him but choosing to ignore the unlikelihood of his untrustworthiness is very irrational,” Seungcheol frowns, his fingers toying with the butt-end of his sword. “What’s your take, Commander Lee?”
Everyone’s attention turns to Jihoon, the Commander’s lips curving down into an ever sourer grimace as the gazes’ rest upon him. He sighs before looking up and around at the different faces.
“Last night we killed the wang-do that broke our code, this kid shouldn’t have been involved in the slightest.” It isn't an answer and it only heightens the anxiety coursing through you.
“Is that all you have to say on the matter?” Seungcheol prods.
“He probably saw something that he doesn’t understand…” Lee mutters as Wen rises to his feet.
“Even if that’s the case this is pretty serious,” Wen’s foot taps on the floor, the light from outside glinting off his deep green robes. “We have to sweep this under the rug. If the rumor spreads that the Hwarang have turned blood-thirsty it wouldn’t sit well with the people, or the crown for that matter.” It looks as if people are taking Wen’s words to heart, a grimace overcomes Jihoon’s face as the taller continues to speak.
“Watch it,” Jihoon fires back, “It’s our responsibility to regulate the wang-do that haven’t followed the code. We are going to do something about it.”
“That doesn’t change the fact that he saw something.” Seungkwan looks at you again, but you refuse to acknowledge it.
“He does have a point,” Kim muses, “I’ll do whatever Kwak, Lee and Choi tell me to do.”
“I think we should let him go,” Kwon notes, his hand moving to brush a few strands of hair out of his face. “It’s not like he knows everything.”
“...Everything?” You question aloud and the room once again turns cold at your words.
“I think it’d be best if you stop talking, Kwon.” Jihoon says solemnly, as the younger mutters out a brief apology.
“Now it’s going to be a little harder to just simply let you go,” Seungkwan says pointedly, crossing his arms as you look at him briefly.
“A man should always be ready to face death. You should make your peace with that,” Wen notes, nodding his head as if he were agreeing with his own statement.
A man…. The words resound around your head and it isn’t until you look down at your feet and the clothes you were wearing do you remember. Right, you’re not dressed in your typical attire, this was stolen from your father’s chest, his clothes that you had mended as you awaited his arrival. The clothes you had taken to undergo your journey to find him, the journey that had somehow led you here. It hits you that they think you’re a man. With the whirlwind of events that had led you here you’d completely forgotten about your attire and how they may have perceived you.
“That’s true, there’s nothing wrong with a brave death. When I was younger, I committed honorable suicide,” Kim shrugs his shoulders, a humor riding his tone as he spoke of the grave topic.
“Didn’t really stick though, did it, Mingyu?” Wen snorts, giving the other captain a nudge with his shoulder before they break out into a short burst of laughter.
“Commander, since we can’t figure out what to do, should I just send him back to his room for the time being?” Hansol asks Jihoon once the laughter has died down. “The more we leave him out here, the more likely he’s going to hear something he’s not meant to, and we’d have to kill him regardless.”
Even if Hansol hadn’t said it for your well being, a flush of relief floods through your muscles.
“Alright, let’s do that. Besides, there’s something I need to look into.” The commander acquiesces, before looking over to Seungcheol.
“I agree, there’s a few careless voices among us, you never know what could slip.”
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Kwon’s eyes widen as he realizes that the colonel is glaring in his direction.
“You’ve gotta admit we’re all pretty reckless with our words, especially you, Soonyoung.” Kim huffs, begrudgingly agreeing to Choi’s observation.
“It was just a mistake! No need to blame me for all of it,” Kwon’s voice rises as he tries to defend himself. He sighs out and glances at you, mumbling a quiet, “I’m sorry” under his breath.
Still apprehensive about their plans with you, you can’t find it within you to respond to him in any sort of affirmative way. It still seems like he understands the intention behind your curt nod.
“Alright then, Captain Choi, take care of the kid.” The commander says as he begins to turn on his heels, heading towards a side room branching off the main hall.
“Will do…” Hansol nods and turns to you, “Shall we go?”
After Hansol has walked you to your room in relative silence, you find yourself sitting on the floor, your hands still bound, after what seems like hours since the meeting.
The Hwarang were esteemed because of their loyalty to the crown and their way of life, you hadn’t realized how vicious it could be. But behind all of that there is a humanity behind the veneer of the aristocratic and diplomatic traits they were meant to have. Despite it not seeming like it as of your first meeting.
Their presence isn't that of cold-blooded killers or snotty aristocrats, the message garnered through that meeting had been along the lines of ‘We are not killers, but to protect our way of life we must bring death’. It didn’t make you feel great, but it could help you understand them a little more.
As you sit in the room, watching the sun flit in through nearly closed shades you ponder that the longer you stay here, the less chance you have of returning to your home in one piece. They have no real right to let you go, your loyalty to them is a contract by word, not by blood. And you are sure they would recognize that sooner or later.
If they still thought you to be a man would they still make you face that fate? Would exposing your true identity be worth mercy on your life? Even then you don’t know if the repercussions of that would be any better, it may backfire and lead to an even worse end for you.
If possible, you would like to forgo either of those scenarios. Perhaps escaping would be your best bet...
As your feet had been left unbound, it is easy to push yourself off the ground to unsteadily rise on your feet. With your feet free it shouldn’t be nearly as impossible a feat to escape if both your feet and hands were bound. You take a deep breath before walking towards the door, thinking of how they had brought you in last night and where Eunseok had guided you to the meeting and Hansol had taken you from. It is a rudimentary enough map in your head, but you can make it work, you have to make it work.
You approach the sliding door quietly, inching your foot towards it as to open it. Before you’re able to though, it slides open and a figure almost runs face-first into you.
“Ah-!” Youngmin stops himself so he doesn’t run into you, you take a cautionary step backwards to distance yourself from him.
A figure peers out from behind Youngmin, Seungcheol’s eyes wide as he realizes what is going on. “Oh, you weren’t trying to escape, were you?”
“I was just…” you search for a response, but your situation is already damning enough.
“Trying to escape isn’t really going to make your situation any less difficult,” he frowns, stepping out from behind Youngmin to stand in line with the leader. While his voice is soft, his eyes hold that same calculating glare that had scrutinized you earlier in the day.
You think for a moment before a realization dawns on you. They hadn’t tied you up because they’ve been watching you the entire time. Maybe you should’ve figured that out sooner, but your brain is too muddled with flight or flight instinct.
“I’ll only repeat this one more time,” a voice coming from the hall outside as two pairs of footsteps approach the room, “if you try to run, I’ll kill you.” Jihoon’s voice is stern as he rounds the corner with Seungkwan.
“Sorry, that means we’re forced to kill you,” Seungkwan sighs, his hand hovering over the hilt of his sword, “We can’t let you go if you can’t keep a promise.” He doesn’t look sorry with the way a fresh smile danced along his lips as he spoke.
Teeth gritting together you plant your feet firmly on the ground and look at the men in front of you. They aren’t presenting any favorable options to you, and if they were going to kill you anyway, the best thing you could do is try and run for it.
By some miraculous means you’re able to push your feet from the floor, sliding around Youngmin and beginning to race down the corridor of the building. It’s not long until you feel a hand grab the back of your robes, pulling you back towards the room you’d been kept in.
“Did you really think you could escape?” Jihoon asks, sounding somewhat bewildered by the actions you’d taken.
“Let me go!” You writhe in his grasp, trying to free yourself from his grip, but it is holding firm to you with no sign of weakness.
“If I do that, you’ll just run off again,” he sounds annoyed now as he leads you back into the room with Seungkwan, Seungcheol, and Youngmin.
“I don’t want to die, though!” You say, still struggling under his hold. “There’s something I have to do!”
“And what’s that? What’s important enough for a girl to dress up as a boy and run around Seorabeol?”
You freeze at his words, eyes widening as his grip on you goes slack. It’s given you the opportunity to run for it again, but you find yourself too stunned to move. Did he know this whole time? You turn to look at him, your mouth parting as if to say something but you can’t think of what to utter.
“Did you just call me a girl?” You can tell by the steely glare he gives you that your feeble attempt at a lie won’t work on him.
A small ‘huh’ and you look over your shoulder to see Seungcheol looking at you, “So you really are a girl.”
“Did you really think putting on a pair of pants and a man’s robes would fool us?” Seungkwan questions as he crosses his arms, a teasing tinge to his voice.return
“You all knew from the start?” Eyes widening, you thought your disguise had been rather good. But perhaps not as much as you had thought.
“Kwak Youngmin you idiot,” the leader of the Hwarang mutters just loudly enough for you to hear, “How did you not realize this sooner?”
Youngmin’s reaction puts you more at ease, seeing that not everyone had seen right through your facade.
“You almost got killed for whatever you’re here for, maybe it’s time you enlighten us,” Jihoon doesn’t ask, rather demands the information out of you.
You nod at him and the trio silently takes you back to the hall where you’d been questioned only hours prior. The rest of the men filter in from whatever they’d been doing at the compound, none of them sparing you more than a second’s glance once they walk into the large room.
“I thought your features were a little more effeminate than most men but to think you were a lady this whole time…” Youngmin leads, his head nodding as if he’d come to the conclusion hours earlier and hadn’t only just learned your secret moments prior.
“Once you realize she’s a girl she really doesn’t look like a guy at all, right?” Kwon muses as he looks into your eyes.
Uncomfortable with this, you break away, looking to Eunseok who stands next to him.
“So, we really left her tied up all night to sleep on the floor?” The younger mumbles, looking down to his feet before looking up to you and giving a very heartfelt “Sorry,” before returning his gaze to the floor.
“Well she claims to be a girl, but it’s not like we have any real proof, right?” Wen muses as he looks at Mingyu.
“You want proof?” You fire back, eyebrows raising at the implied suggestion.
“Would you feel better if we stripped her down?” Kim scoffs, eyes rolling at the other.
“You will absolutely not!” Youngmin interrupts, seemingly not understanding the sarcasm of Kim’s statement. “To suggest that goes against everything we stand for.”
“It was a joke,” Kim shoots back, “But if we needed absolute proof…”
“If you are a girl though,” Wen muses, “Then I think it would feel kind of wrong just to kill you.”
“Why are all of you acting so naive? If we have to kill her, we have to kill her.” Jihoon frowns while looking over his men.
“Exactly,” Seungcheol nods, a small frown overcoming him, “Although it’s not her gender that’s the issue. Killing in general is wrong.” Even with those words, the way his hand rests on the hilt of his sword makes an uneasy feeling lurch in your stomach, “We were organized by the crown to protect Silla and her people, killing those people in cold-blood wouldn’t put us in a favorable light.”
“But if this girl, or boy, is a threat to the crown, that’s a whole other matter in itself.” Seungkwan notes, the sly grin on his face present once more. At this point you’re concluding this is what he normally looks like.
“I apologize,” Jihoon looks at you, “I took it upon myself to look through your things. It seems like you’ve come all the way from Toehwa-hyeon by yourself. You didn’t have much; some change, clothing, a few scraps of letters and a blade.” He pauses for a moment to collect his thoughts, “One of the fragments of letters was signed by Namemekawa Yasuo, I assume you saw him?” Another pause as he looks into your eyes as if he’s searching for something, “What exactly are you here for?”
When the doctor’s name is spoken, chatter begins among the men, did they know Namekawa? And it isn’t until Jihoon asks what your true purpose here, followed by your full name, does the entire room go silent.
“Commander… that name…” Wen’s eyes are wide as he addresses Jihoon.
“It’s not just some bizarre coincidence, is it?” Kim adds on, his face looking almost as equally as confused as Wen’s.
“Now, let’s hold on for a moment,” Youngmin tries to calm the room’s mounting tension. He looks to you, a weary expression on his brow as he continues, “We need to determine if you are a threat. Why did you come to Seorabeol?”
At Youngmin’s behest you move forward to speak, with a quiet voice you announce your name, and the chatter begins quietly once more for a moment. Once it settles down you speak again, “My father is a doctor in Toehwa-hyeon. I traveled from my home there in search of him as I haven’t heard from him in several months. The last time we spoke he said he was traveling here, the capital, for work.”
“You’re from Toehwa-hyeon as well?” A small smile dances along Youngmin’s lips, “And you came all of this way to find your father? Who is he?”
“I am the daughter of Physician Heo Jinsang.” You answer shortly, not fully expecting their reactions.
They don’t seem angry, rather sate in their realization of something.
“So, it’s all piecing together,” Jihoon sighs out.
“The handwriting does match Jinsang’s but… To think you were his daughter,” Seungcheol’s gaze furrows at you as he bites the inside of his cheek.
“Do you know my father?” You ask as you turn to look from Seungcheol to Jihoon.
“You’ve been withholding information from us?” Jihoon’s voice, now angered, calls out to you. It’s accusatory in nature and you can’t begin to fathom as to why.
“I… What?” A step backwards at the intensity of his words, your heart begins to pound in your chest as the next words flow from his lips like a torrent from an incensed river.
“There’s no point in lying now!” His gaze hardens, voice unrelenting in its authority, “What the hell are you doing in Seorabeol?!”
“I just came to look for my father.” You protest, your muscles tense as the commander takes a step towards you.
“No, you came into this city fully aware of what your father is doing, didn’t you?” Jihoon’s presence itself is harsh, unsettling as his heightening anger bores directly from his voice and to your ears, trying to dig up secrets that were unknown even to you.
“I was told that he was traveling here for medical work, I haven’t seen him in months!” Voice almost cracking under the stressful strain of trying to prove your innocence to them, your heart grows heavy at the thought of committing a crime just from being someone’s daughter.
“Jihoon, it may be better to leave her be. She may not know anything…” Seungcheol interjects, stepping forward to place a hand on Jihoon’s forearm.
A reprieve from the interrogation allows you to collect your breath and pose a question of your own, “So what do you know about my father? Do you know where he is?”
“The Hwarang are currently trying to find the location of Physician Heo Jinsang.” Hansol responds with a flat tone, as if he’s not trying to interject any emotion or his own opinion into the matter.
“You’re after my father?” A furrowed brow as you look at him. What exactly had your father done?
“It’s not like that… We’re not after him, per se.” Seungkwan interjects by shaking his head.
“I see…” A small exhale of air that you hadn’t realized you were holding escapes you, a slight weight lifted from your shoulders.
“He’s a supporter of the crown but he disappeared a little while ago.” Seungkwan explains.
“There’s a chance a few Baekje loyalists have identified him as a threat,” Hansol adds after Seungkwan has finished speaking.
“Really?” You frown, beginning to think the worst before Hansol begins to speak again.
“Of course, there’s a chance that he’s still alive, there are a few Tang-trained physicians in Silla at the moment.” He notes, shifting his weight from foot to foot.
“Youngmin, what do you think we should do? Would it be in our interest to help her because we’re both looking for her father?” Seungcheol questions as you feel your heart about to burst from the anxiety of this situation.
“What do you mean by ‘help her’?” Youngmin asks, one of his hands resting on his hip as he looks to the colonel.
“I think it would be in our best interest to cooperate with her until we find Heo,” Seungcheol’s lips purse, it looks like he’s already thinking of ways to find your father but you can’t be too sure. “With her help I’m sure our chances of finding him will increase drastically. It may prove fruitless to look for him if he’s in disguise. However, you are his daughter, you should be able to recognize him no matter how he’s disguised himself, right?” Seungcheol looks to you inquisitively, his head tilted to the side and his eyes wide in question.
 You nod, “Of course.”
“What do you say Jihoon?” Youngmin turns to look at the commander, “Seungcheol is making some sense of this mess.”
“If she really doesn’t know anything…” Jihoon hums, looking at you warily.
“I really don’t, all I know is that he was headed here for work but I really don’t know anything else—” You huff, “And about last night, I didn’t see anything, I promise!”
Jihoon huffs out a sigh as his eyes narrow, “Well, if she really is his daughter, we can’t really kill her, can we?” He watches your reaction for a moment more before continuing, “If you promise to not talk about the events of last night, we’ll let you stay here until we find your father. Fair?”
“I can promise that the Hwarang will do whatever we can to find your father,” Youngmin adds with something of a reassuring smile.
“Thank you,” you say and bow as deeply as you can, thankful for their gratitude and, most of all, them deciding that your life hadn’t needed to be halted. You’d found your first lead in finding your father, and it seems they are actively looking for him as well.
“You must be glad we’re not killing you,” Seungkwan quips, “not yet anyway.” That same snide grin encapsulating his lips, as you frown at him. In no way is your position desirable, but you were alive and, on your way, to finding your father.
“More than glad,” you snip back at him.
“I’m happy we didn’t have to kill you,” Eunseok sighs out, “or turn you into the Crown. My brother’s a guard there and he says it’s awful.”
“Oh, really?” You ponder on that for a moment, thinking of what may have happened if the official patrol had found you instead of the Hwarang.
“Hm, Eunseok? With her being a lady, I’m not sure the compound is equipped for all her needs. It’s not as if we have Wonhwa anymore…” Youngmin frowns as if he’s just realized an all male domicile may not be the best suited for you.
“That’s a good point…” Eunseok mutters.
“If you need anything you only have to ask,” Hansol nods, “We will do what we can to accommodate you.”
“Thank you, Hansol.” You nod and turn to look at who’s just begun to speak.
“I guess if you are a girl, we’ll have to be nicer to you, huh?” Wen says, a nervous laugh escaping him.
“Hah,” Kwonsnorts at him, “didn’t take long for you to change your attitude, huh, Jun?”
“It’ll be a nice change of pace though, brighten things up a bit from all of your guys’ shit,” Kim scoffs at the two of them.
Your brow furrows, not fully believing that sentiment as the trio begin bickering with another once more.
“Everything may not be up to standards here for a lady,” Seungcheol sighs, almost sounding embarrassed at the state of the place, “You’re not a soldier so we can’t fully expect to treat you as such.”
“Then make her an assistant or something.” Jihoon suggests, “Do you need a page, Youngmin? Or you, Seungcheol?”
“It’s your idea, Lee,” Seungkwan pipes up once more, a teasing tinge to his voice, “you can’t just drop her onto someone else.”
“That’s perfect, we can entrust Jihoon with her,” Youngmin smiles, playing along with Seungkwan’s antics.
“That settles it, I think,” Seungcheol nods, trying to suppress a laugh as he looks at the increasingly flustered commander.
“You— You can’t just decide like that!” Jihoon barks angrily as those around him laugh. Their back and forth, while humorous to them, caused the relief you felt prior to chip away little by little with each of their jabs.
It is eventually decided that you are to be Lee Jihoon’s page, if only for the time being, until your father is found. Rather than immediately give you a task to accomplish, the commander sends you back to your room, assuming that you probably hadn’t had a restful night and that your pagely duties would start the next morning.
“I brought some clothes for you to change into,” a voice calls out from behind your closed door, it sounds like Eunseok. “The ones you’re wearing were a little bloodstained and I figured you might want to change,” he says as you allow him entry.
“Thank you, Eunseok,” you nod as he sets down the pile of cloth on a nearby tabletop. “Do you think I’ll be here for very long?”
“Hmm,” he thinks for a moment, “I’m not sure. I know we’ve been looking for your father for a while now, but with you joining us I’m sure it’ll help us out immensely.”
“I see…” you sigh as he begins to make his leave. “Thanks again, Eunseok.”
“It’s no problem,” he smiles, “I’ll see if I can get some food brought to your room if you don’t want to join us for dinner yet.”
“Alright,” you nod and Eunseok exits your room, closing the door behind him as you’re left alone once more. As you rise to your feet and move your now unbound hands to reach out for the clothes the younger had brought, you can’t help but notice the dirt and dried gore adorning your hands. Had all this happened within a day of arriving in the capital? It feels surreal, almost like a dream that you haven't woken up from yet.
But as the hours passed, it is more and more obvious that this is now your home for the time being. And all the men, and their strange characters, are your company.
You sigh as you begin to undress yourself, wondering when and how the mystery of your father’s disappearance will be solved.

warnings: reader & Wonwoo can be quite pessimistic; commentary on consumerism (?); reader is a bit systematic and lacks personality initially, they take their job very seriously; smut, unprotected sex (practice safe sex habits pls), was supposed to be suggestive but became a bit explicit.
a/n: I love the sci-fi genre, but writing my own sci-fi fic was a bit of a challenge for me. I had not meant to delay so much, but had been in a bit of an editing rut. I really hope you all enjoy this fic, as I am quite excited to expand more into sci-fi. Also major shoutout to @wonuwoe as I appreciate all the brainstorming and getting to meet you through this collab!!
★+ Prologue +★
"100 years ago it was thought that the Earth, as we know it, would disintegrate. That the sun would implode and leave everything in darkness. Miraculously, it didn't. Due to some external force, human scientists still haven't agreed upon what it exactly was, none of the planets in our former solar system were ever destroyed. The Earth, along with the other planets, were pushed away from each other, and ended up in different parts of the universe. Earth just happened to come to a solar system with alien life. At first, we were cautious, and people were prepared to fight. However, the aliens were welcoming of our planet. Those of us who didn't die from 'The Great Journey' or from trying to fight the aliens, were welcomed into the new solar system. Soon enough, we had integrated completely, and we received materials and assistance from our sister-planets in exchange for human labor. What humans knew of technology was very limited, but with the resources of the aliens we created artificial life forms. We named these robots Automaton, and they served as workers when humans couldn't. Eventually, there was no need for human labor at all. To pay back for the help the aliens gave us, we used Automatons. With the extensive development of these robots, we eventually managed to create artificial sentient life. These Automatons were human-like in looks and had human consciousness, but they could not bleed and were stronger than we ever could be. At the present time, there are even different levels of Automatons. Level 3 robots are the workers, level 2 robots are the caretakers, and level 1 robots are the celebrities. The Automaton music group 53V3NT33N (SEVENTEEN) is made up of 13 members, all very talented, and all representing two human states of mind."
★+ Under Diagnosis +★
W0NW00's previous developer had quit on him - more so had fled from the company, which was quite the gossip for many - unable to solve the sudden changes in consciousness that he was facing. Not even his lead cognitive researcher could understand this change in W0NW00. It all had become too much, the company put too much pressure on his previous developer, and him as well. Though he was a robot, he became increasingly aware of the demanding schedules and consumerism of it all.
What had made W0NW00 act this way? Why did his dominantly kind demeanor turn sour all of a sudden? Suddenly, his malicious side was portrayed more to fans, his unwavering kindness cracking beneath the spotlight. There was no explanation and it was not like any form of brute force could reset the drastic changes in his attitude.
At least to say, management really did not like this change in the automata. Even though there had been some oddities in other members of 53V3NT33N, W0NW00's recent behavior was starting to become quite troublesome in the eyes of the company, requiring his managers to pay extra close attention to what made the seemingly perfect idol tick. After all, his emotions were kindness and maliciousness. Fans of the group liked this duality, loved it even, as it made him an intense member.
However, W0NW00's cognitive system had been faring a little too much on the malicious side as of recently. His self-portrayal was turning bitter due to his sudden stand-offish nature. No one would understand why, it was hurting his relationship with the fans, and management feared it would harm his relationship with group members.
These changes have put W0NW00 in an increasingly tricky situation. Nights were no longer spent with other members, rather W0NW00 had been stationed in the research and development laboratory in the company building. Continuous tests were run on him, trying to understand his quickly developing violent thoughts.
The first red flag was aggression towards other members, not physical aggression, but words of malice spoken to other members after schedules that went well. W0NW00 would always find a way to call out something he noticed wrong. Not that he meant to necessarily harm the members, but he couldn't help but nitpick at each and every flaw.
5C0UP5 noticed it in the form of non-compliance and lack of care for the group's reputation. The leader couldn't wrap his head around this changing behavior either. W0NW00 had never been one to do anything unbeknownst to the group, but W0NW00 began to put the group at risk as he began to break the rules. He'd sneak out quickly after schedules in order to get extra charging hours, which would ultimately end up ruining rest and charging hours for the rest of the group. W0NW00's lack of care would peeve the rest of the automas off.
Fans noticed it too, as W0NW00 wasn't responding as positively during events, which is when the company started becoming increasingly worried about the robot. Fans started questioning what had changed as well.
Through this all, W0NW00 felt lost. He knew he was a robot, he knew what he was made for after all, but W0NW00 felt human, his conscience was human-like after all. Was this all that he was made for? Is he just a commodity? Then why does he feel this way about being consumed by others? Why can't he make any mistakes? Why can't he be his own entity? What would he be without 53V3NT33N? These are all things that began to drive W0NW00 deeper into his negative state.
Management deemed it was time to take action, thus landing W0NW00 in the lab for further troubleshooting and ending up with you.
★+ The First Encounter +★
W0NW00 remembers his first encounter with you all too well. You strolled into the office, glancing briefly at him with inquisitive eyes, and paying no further attention to where he was sitting at the examination table. After your brief fixation on him, your eyes remained focused on the clipboard grasped tightly in your right hand. You sat down with a sigh, clipboard clattering in the quiet room and making W0NW00 fully shift his attention towards you. His eyes which had once shimmered with kindness now had a dullness to them, a feature that his previous developer could not determine what had caused this change along with his negative state.
You shimmied the mouse gently to awaken the bright LED screen. The clicking sound resounded across the room as you opened the software, humming in acknowledgment as the information regarding the robot illuminated before you.
His previous developer's notes left you inquisitive as you skimmed them. This was a peculiar case. Typically it was easy for companies with R&D centers this powerful to reverse such effects on the cognitive state of the robots.
"Good afternoon," You spoke gently, sounding polite yet W0NW00 could sense some firmness in your tone. "My name is Y/N, I am pleased to be assigned as your new developer. Can you please confirm your name for me?" You had a plethora of historical data and information that you could read on the screen in front of you, but it was protocol to ask.
If one thing was to be known, it was that you always followed the expected protocols.
That's why W0NW00's company hired you after all.
"W0NW00," he spoke flatly, eyes focusing on the white, sterile walls ahead of him. It was the sort of room that would make anyone feel a bit unwelcome and cold. "Sixth member of 53V3NT33N."
The fluorescent lighting made his vision go a bit blurry, he had always been a bit sensitive in this sense, and it's always been an uncertainty as to why his vision was affected more than other members. This was reflected in the data that was fed to your computer. W0NW00 watched curiously as you stood up, adjusting the brightness of the lighting in the room to be more accommodating per his negative reaction.
W0NW00 almost registered this as pure-hearted kindness, until he remembered that every thought, feeling, and reaction of his was collected as data through the damn diagnostic band that is wrapped around his arm each session. Regardless, this eased W0NW00 a bit, and he appreciated it nonetheless.
You noted the improvement as he visibly relaxed, jotting something down on your clipboard before turning to face him. Your heart beat faster upon facing him straight on.
It was hard to avoid the fact that the robot before you was essentially perfect, trying to not let your cold exterior soften as W0NW00's eyes shifted from the wall towards yours. He looked so kind even with his sharp, cat-like features.
You approach him, wrapping the diagnostic band around his arm. This band is intended to connect to a small port on his arm, feeding all the information you need to your computer. He's cold, unnerved as you smooth the band over his arm, and confirm that it is connected.
As noted, something seemed extremely off about the robot. The dullness in his soft eyes pulled on your heartstrings a bit too much for comfort.
Personally, as a developer, you always tried your best to remain systematic in your actions. Everything had to be performed exactly per the defined process. You continually reminded yourself that your patients were robots, not humans. It was your only way to detach yourself from them, or else you knew you'd grow too fond of the autos you helped develop. It is too easy to do nowadays.
Regardless of the tremor you felt within you, you proceeded with the diagnostic tests and questions.
"Alright, W0NW00, now I'm going to run some tests. Please note I am not going to implement any changes in your system until these tests come back absolutely positive."
"Noted," W0NW00 repeats blandly. "Can you please refer to me as just Wonwoo during these tests?"
You pause almost as if you're in thought, but you already know the answer. "I'm sorry, W0NW00, but that would be inappropriate of me. I have to refer to you by your designated name during these tests or else I can compromise the diagnostics."
W0NW00 rolls his eyes in dissatisfaction, this doesn't go undetected by you. That was a new one. You'd never seen this much sass from a robot in a while, especially not a level 1 who was supposed to be perfectly charming.
Turning back to your computer, you proceed with coding the tests for this session within the diagnostic system.
"Our first test will be a data collection of your recent thoughts and actions, dating back to your most recent schedule. Can you recall anything that you'd like to share with me before I run this first test, W0NW00?"
"Hm," W0NW00 humors you, copying your trick from earlier as if to convince you he's thinking. You know better, especially since you can see this displayed directly in front of you on the screen. W0NW00 knows that too, but he's not going to make this easy for you. "Not necessarily."
"Alright," you sigh, clicking the button to proceed with the first run of data. A copious amount of statistics are spat out on a separate sheet. This will be something for you to unpack later. You save this information, filing it away in W0NW00's collection for you to study after the remaining tests.
"The next test will be to see if you have any reoccurring thoughts or actions. Are you willing to share any of those?" You pause, W0NW00 shakes his head to indicate he isn't willing to share any, so you continue with another data pull.
You finish the session off with a couple of additional tests to further understand his cognitive state, tests that his previous developer hadn't been able to code and pull the statistics on.
W0NW00 was relieved when you finally deemed the session complete. He felt drained, more than he ever had before - more than he ever felt after a long day of schedules. He couldn't wait to return to the dorm to charge.
He watched as you downloaded the data from today's session to your electronic pad, the information transferring speedily and you ensured it was all there before putting the pad to sleep.
W0NW00 noticed your systematic elegance as you took each step to save the data, file it away in an organized matter, and shut the computer down properly. Others had been a bit more careless, so W0NW00 almost appreciated your thoroughness.
However, you were practically everything W0NW00 was growing distaste for. You were the system. You abided by it, you lived by it, and you would never understand him. He knew that damn well. You were about to know his thoughts about you as well. Part of him grew interested in the next session, just to see if it made you tick in any way.
W0NW00 was stunned when you announced the diagnostic session was over, confirming the date of your next session, and leaving the room without another word.
★+ New Day, Same Analysis +★
"Good Morning, W0NW00," you drone, still polite and as systematic as ever. W0NW00 didn't even bother to respond, sighing in resentment as you performed the same routine upon entry. He could predict your movements at this point after enduring multiple research sessions with you.
You stayed static, you portrayed no emotions during sessions, and it seemed as if you never would. It was beginning to drive W0NW00 a bit mad. W0NW00 was convinced he may be a bit more human than you, even if you were the one with a nervous system and heart pumping warm blood through your limbs. You might as well have the neural network of a robot at this point.
It was a typical session. You'd enter in, bid W0NW00 "good morning" or "good afternoon" depending on the time of day, dim the lights, and turn on the LED computer screen. Your clipboard made the same jarring, clattering sound each time you set it down.
You'd run the same damn tests.
Ask the same damn questions.
Collect the information on the same damn electronic pad.
And you'd end the session with the same damn confirmation of the next.
You seemed pleased with each session so far, but W0NW00 couldn't quite imagine you were able to gain much from these diagnostics. Maybe this session could be different if you'd just loosen up a bit.
"Please," he sighs defeatedly, trying to soften your firm demeanor. "Please just refer to me as Wonwoo."
"I'm sorry, W0NW00," you'd start, but he'd cut you off before you could say another word.
"But," he repeated the same words from each session when he'd ask this question. His words were bitter as he spoke. "But that would be inappropriate of me. I have to refer to you by your designated name during these tests or else I can compromise the diagnostics. Same old, same old, Y/N. You're so predictable."
This stunned you a bit. You could see the switch before your eyes for once. He had asked for you to call him Wonwoo in such a kind, polite tone, yet when he realized you didn't bite the bait, he switched quickly on you.
W0NW00 almost cried out, thinking he had cracked you for once, but this was reversed when you smiled, speedily writing something down on your clipboard as if this had satisfied you.
Which it did, you were excited to see the switch from his positive state to a negative state before you. This was exciting progress. You just needed a few more diagnostic tests to ensure there weren't any remaining outliers in the data that you could eliminate.
W0NW00 could basically sense you bouncing in your seat, making his mood go sour for the remainder of the session.
However, you threw W0NW00 off a bit this session, you had one new question. One that you declared you were able to establish from the other questions.
"W0NW00," you hum, reading the question from your electronic pad, "what makes you so resistant to entertainment? I must question this, you're made to entertain after all?"
"What?" W0NW00 snarls, pulling the most visceral reaction from him yet. "I'm not resistant to entertainment. I'm not sure what you pulled from your data to get that understanding."
"Well, can you enlighten me? Or should I just run the test?"
"Sure, I can enlighten you. Have you ever considered I feel the same way that you do? That I can have my own thoughts as you do?"
"Of course I do -"
"No," W0NW00 cuts you off. "I don't think you do, that is the thing. You run these tests on me like any other developer. Actually, you're a bit colder than most developers. But it's not just here. I can feel it everywhere else. I'm treated like a product. The whole group is treated like products. I know that's my duty, but I can't help but feel like there is more than being consumed. There is more to living, even if I am just an automation."
You're aggressively typing this all into the computer, making sure you don't miss a single word as W0NW00 rambles on. This is the most W0NW00 has confided in you. Sure the tests pull valuable information regarding W0NW00's feelings, but this is more than the computer could ever tell you. Hearing W0NW00's organic stream of consciousness is extremely valuable to running your diagnostics.
W0NW00 is quick to stop once he realizes he's pleasing you, ending his thoughts and returning his attention to the sterile wall ahead of him. "That is all."
You try to hide your smile. He's being spiteful, you know he's realized that he has fed a bit too much information to you today, and he's stopping himself while he is at it. Regardless, you're pleased with today's session.
You wrap up as usual. You collect all the data onto your electronic pad, file away the data, and turn off the computer. You're about to leave and confirm you're next session before W0NW00 stops you yet again.
"Save it," W0NW00 sighs. "I'm aware of when our next session is. You don't have to announce it each time. You're just like a broken record."
★+ OVERSET +★
"You don't understand it do you?" W0NW00 growls. Frustrated as another day passes with you as his developer. The same old routine is being performed over and over. You still don't understand his frustrations, at this point, anyone with a functioning brain should. He wasn't understanding why it wasn't clicking for you, you were clearly intelligent, but god damn, you were brainwashed by the system just like this company.
"What do you mean?" You question, intrigued by W0NW00's sudden outburst. He's more displeased than usual during your sessions. Whilst you've been able to collect a good amount of data from the previous sessions, you have slowly been seeing W0NW00 speak more and more. Today was clearly a day he was ready to speak.
"That these sessions don't help."
You spin in your chair, turning to face the clearly perturbed robot. You raise an eyebrow, crossing your arms and settling further into your seat. You raise a hand, a motion to indicate that he should continue, get whatever it is off his chest while he's at it. "What makes you say that?"
"Seriously?" He says incredulously, "You're part of the system. The system that I have grown to hate. I cannot live without having each and every emotion of mine prodded. I cannot live without worrying about how I impact others. I cannot have my own thoughts ever, and here you are trying to change and poke and prod at me."
You're computer is running data at a rapid speed, W0NW00's emotions translating through the screen as his system and neural networks work at an incredible pace. Your eyes flick between him and the screen, wanting to pay more attention as W0NW00's words intrigue you.
Each session you've grown to understand him more and more. You've become increasingly aware of how he feels, and you feel a bit guilty. He's right, robots have become so advanced, but it isn't right to treat them as just a commodity.
Your change in procedural work hasn't gone unnoticed by management. You continue to follow protocols, but you've been a bit messier. You've become more curious about W0NW00. You're avoiding the development of codes that will reset his defined emotions. You're avoiding the final steps that are required to lessen W0NW00's malicious side, and management is demanding results.
Management claims it is an inevitable malware that's coded into his system. That it's taken him over. He's closer and closer to self-destruction, closer to sabotaging the group, and closer to losing his fanbase.
You no longer have the desire to please the company. You're too curious about W0NW00 at this point, but you can't do anything too drastic. Not until you have a proper game plan. You've heard of recent escapes from Earth, and at the rate W0NW00 is sharing information, you don't doubt that some members of his group will be escaping soon.
It's easy to understand how he's frustrated. The more you listened to him, filtered through his data, and studied the group, it became clear that he wasn't fulfilled. He desires more, it's only natural for anyone who has a conscience.
W0NW00 doesn't see it since you've been trying to remain under the radar, but you understand him. You can see it in his performances. You can see it in the results of these sessions, and you can definitely see it as W0NW00 continues to rant.
"I feel stuck, Y/N. Is this what it is like for you? Do you feel stuck in your job as a developer? Do you get satisfaction from this just like everyone else around me does? If I could just leave, I wo-"
"Wonwoo," you're voice drops low, fearful of what he will say. Every single word and thought of his is documented. If he speaks of any intention to escape, you know it will draw a red flag for the company and his management. You know you'll have to destroy the data from today's session. You'll determine how to do this later, but your concern right now is to stop W0NW00 before he says anything stupid. "You need to
Of course, W0NW00 pauses upon hearing you refer to him as Wonwoo, as he has requested many times. He's angered quickly again when you don't speak, annoyed by the way you seem off-character and squeamish in your chair, infuriated by the way you frantically click at your mouse, trying to terminate the program.
"Now you're referring to me as Wonwoo? Is this just a trick to see how I'll react?" He continues to rant, hands tightly gripping the table and eyebrows threaded together as he works himself up. You pay little to no attention to him, trying to ease the situation at hand ahead of you on the LED screen.
The computer is suddenly crashing, the code that you were previously running is now indicating an infinite loop, and the program is faulting as your computer continues to malfunction. In a panic, you're doing everything you can to execute the code, scared that management will recognize this oddity.
This session has overset W0NW00, and you're uncertain about what to do, as you've never seen a code turn malicious. You're eyes go wide, staring at W0NW00, you can't believe it.
All you can do is jump out of your seat and run over to W0NW00 to remove the electronic diagnostic band from his arm. You have to stop the data recording and terminate the code by eliminating the connection to the computer.
W0NW00 is aghast as you tear the band off his arm, your hands feeling warm on his cold body as you make sure there are no remaining connections to the system.
"Wonwoo," you whisper, sternly as you stare into his eyes. He seems to soften for once, sensing the urgency in your shaky words as you quell his anger. "You need to calm down. I understand you. I really do. But I need you to know you need to watch what you say."
"You understand?" Wonwoo exhales, feeling hopeful as you wrap up the diagnostic band tightly, nodding as you begin to fiddle with the band, acting as if you are troubleshooting problems with it in case management questions the removal of it.
"I do," you speak lowly, butterflies fluttering in your stomach as you lock eyes with Wonwoo. "But you need to realize you're stepping into dangerous territory. I don't mean to interrupt you, but I'm trying to protect you."
For once, he is looking at you with relief. His eyes are full of stars as he actually feels like he's being heard for once.
For once, you are looking at him like he is human.
It makes him feel something he's never felt before.
Your breathing is shallow as you connect with Wonwoo for the first time, your heart pounding so hard in your chest that you can practically hear it in your ears. Wonwoo observes how flushed your cheeks are, registering how emotional you are actually feeling, and realizing just how serious you are.
"I'm going to put this band back on, but you need to proceed with the session just like any other. We cannot return to the same topic. Do not indicate any desire to escape." You emphasize this prior to wrapping the diagnostic band around his arm, a nod of his head confirming he's heard your words and has taken them seriously.
Returning to your desk, you begin to reload the software. However, before you finalize the restart, you softly speak again, "I will have to refer to you as W0NW00 again. I apologize, but please understand."
"I understand," Wonwoo's voice is hushed, a soft smile gracing his features as you breathe out in relief.
"W0NW00," you start, voice returning to a professional tone. You eye him closely, your mannerisms indicating that you have successfully started the program up, and are once again recording data.  "I apologize for that. It seems as if the system crashed. Shall we proceed with the session?"
"Yes," Wonwoo indicates, trying his hardest to not overthink the current events.
Wonwoo understands it now. Understands that you aren't all systematic, that his words have an impact on you, and that you are receptive after all. He has more faith in you now, knowing that you're here to protect him.
You continue and complete the session as usual. However, this time there is an understanding between you and Wonwoo. One that you'll do everything to erase the data on. You'll do anything to help Wonwoo.
★+ Comfort in Your Thoughts, Voice, and Touch +★
Things have since changed between you and Wonwoo. You now start the sessions differently, you take the time to set up your computer, and you allow Wonwoo to remove his band prior to the program.
You told him you'd argue with the company that it's to save his charge. However, you now look forward to your talks with Wonwoo prior to your sessions, talking freely knowing that the computer is no longer able to collect each and every bit of information.
Wonwoo loves that you call him by his preferred name during these undocumented talks with you. He loves the melodic sound of your laugh when he cracks a witty joke. He feels an uncontrollable obsession developing within him that he can't quite understand.
Wonwoo feels better and feels more understood around you, he can see changes in your behavior. You're not as systematic, more relaxed around him, only returning to your default systematic behavior once he is connected to the diagnostic band.
Your touch haunts him, the feeling of your nimble fingers on his arm when you wrap and unwrap the band around his bicep has him overanalyzing his thoughts.
He feels lighter, he doesn't feel as burdened after being heard by you, understood by you, and connected to you by your fleeting touches. Wonwoo can't help but look forward to these sessions with you.
Who would have thought that'd been the case days ago?
Oddly enough, these sessions have been improving Wonwoo's negative state of mind, reversing the trend of his daily emotions and leading them in more of a positive state. Management has taken note of this, unsure if these changes are taking place when you haven't implemented any developmental changes in him.
For now, they don't question it.
Regardless, Wonwoo yearns to hear your voice, yearns for your occasional touch, and yearns to spend time with you. Even if it's him locked in this sterile room, he's glad it's with you.
Wonwoo has grown too comfortable for once. Inevitably, as he once believed, the system tends to disrupt everything that was once good.
★+ The Escape +★
You've begun hearing of members of 53V3NT33N escaping Earth and traveling to other planets. Wonwoo isn't aware of it, he's been stuck with you in R&D for days now after management has cracked down on his diagnosis.
However, today was a different day. Management knows you are erasing data. You were confronted with it before today's session. They've noticed peculiarities in Wonwoo's behavior, in the data reports you've returned, and in the results you've been providing. They've also noticed the increase in "blank" spots, and the increase in system errors, unlike the software systems that have been developed to perfection.
Albeit, you weren't providing any updates of substance, which wasn't per your reputation as a developer, and your lack of urgency during the time of other member's escapes was especially concerning to management.
Wonwoo can't help but notice the aggressive rate at your leg shakes. It's been like this since the beginning of today's session.
"Everything alright?" He questions, genuinely worried about your anxious state. You're never like this, even as you two have been sneaking more time together prior to sessions.
Wonwoo's words are drowned out, the tapping of your pen against the desk resounding through your head as you consider your options. You know it's time to make a move.
You have access to a ship. There is one in the development center that you could hijack, it was simple; you'd just have to make sure you tear away the tracking core to ensure the company can't locate you and Wonwoo.
You're haunted by anxious thoughts. Was it even possible to get Wonwoo out of this room without management noticing? Where would you even go? When was the last time you traveled to another planet? How will Wonwoo react to news of other members escaping?
Would Wonwoo even want to go with you? Does he even trust you enough?
You stand up from your seat, shutting down the computer in front of you just as quickly as you had booted it up. Striding over to Wonwoo, you make sure his band isn't wrapped around his arm yet.
"Wonwoo," you speak eerily calmly, "Your members are escaping."
"What?" He's confused, not quite understanding the weight of your words.
"It isn't just you who has implied leaving Earth, others are too. They've just held you here for a bit too long for you to know."
He's clearly processing, not quite sure where you're headed with this, but he leans towards you in anticipation, hanging on to your next words.
"Management is onto me as well," you breathe, voice quivering as you realize how serious this may be. "They know we aren't progressing with our sessions as I should be. They know I am terminating data. They are onto me, and I'm not sure how much longer they will keep me here."
The weight of your words settles on him. "What can we do? Where are the members going?"
"I can locate a ship. There are multiple in the terminal right off the plant here. If we are strategic enough," you pause, gauging his reaction. He doesn't seem appalled by the implication of your word so you can continue. "We can escape too, we can be freed from the shackles of this system like you've been talking about."
There's a minute's pause between you two as you both consider the situation.
"How can we trick management?" He ponders, hinting that he isn't against your suggestion, but he does realize this requires a bit more thought than just running.
"I just -" you stutter, uncertain of any plan. "I can't think of any way to fake that we are in our session. The band reports everything. Management will know if we leave our session if you never put the band on."
"I mean," Wonwoo thinks some more, peering down at the port on his arm where the band connects. "Is there a way," he slowly speaks, eyes implying what you're horrified he may reference as he peers at his port, "is there a way that we can tear this port out? Leave it with the band?"
"I'm not so sure about that, Wonwoo. I mean, it could have negative effects on your system, and I'm not sure how successful that would be. It would be too risky to the health of your network."
"It's worth trying," he pleads, already toying with the port on his arm, already seeming as if it were possible to remove the said part.
"You can't, I said it would be too risky-" you argue, but Wonwoo stuns you, pulling the port out of his arm. It's immediately recognizable that the port has disrupted something, and you can verify from initial inspection that it will definitely have an effect on the efficiency of his charging.
"See," he chides, but he can sense the effect on his system too. Nonetheless, he connects the port to the band, and the diagnostic band accepts the port. "It works, go check on your computer."
You rush to the computer, reboot it, and load the same software. You're jaw drops, almost unbelieving that the program recognizes the port without being directly connected to Wonwoo. It isn't feeding any valuable information, but it's recognizing that it's him regardless.
"It's working," you chime in disbelief, eyes wide as you turn to him, realizing this is the time to make the run for it.
"Lead the way," Wonwoo declares, encouraging you both to move forward with the escape.
There is no hesitation between you two as you lead him through the bright hallways of the R&D wing. There is a shortcut that leads to the terminal where the ships are, if you can get through there undetected, you are bound to make it to the ships.
If anyone were to spot Wonwoo, they would be suspicious. Of course, he's recognizable, and with everyone in the company being high-strung regarding escapes, it would be an immediate red flag.
Thankfully, you two make it unscathed to the terminal, and you work quickly to prep the ship.
"Wonwoo," you gain his attention from beneath the ship as he helps the best he can, mostly just on the lookout as you prepare. "I don't have the strength, can you attempt to pull the core out from beneath the ship? There is a tracking device, and we'll need to pull this before we leave."
"Of course," Wonwoo is quick to trade places with you. He works swiftly, but your eyes dart around the terminal. It's dreary, industrial, and clean. Everything you've started to resent over the past few days. It encourages your escape even more, a wash of relief falling over your shoulders as you determine this is the right situation.
Wonwoo appears from under the ship, the core of the craft held in his hands before he smashes it against the ground, shattering the material at both your feet.
"Let's go," you smile, climbing into the ship with Wonwoo and booting up the vessel. Your adrenaline has never run so high, you feel it through your veins as the vibration of the ship resonates through you.
It's been a while since you've started up one of these, thankful you were able to successfully start the craft up without issues. Wonwoo is impressed too, of course never navigating one himself.
It's a blur how you two escape, taking off at light speed as you accelerate up into space, leaving the stratosphere of Earth at a record speed, and focusing until you've fully left the exosphere.
You have no clear where to go from here, but, holy shit, you've successfully left. And you have Wonwoo here with you.
★+ The Long Path Home +★
It's a long path for you and Wonwoo. It's uncertain where you'll end up. You've heard of a planet called Lumen before, but you have no clue how to even get there. You're just thankful Wonwoo can even assist in navigating the ship between planets.
Your first stop is Opifex. After the escape from Earth, Wonwoo suffered significant damage during the boarding of the ship. His arm was damaged in the process of tearing out his main port, the tear in his arm reflecting in the functionality of his charging system. This concerned you more than Wonwoo could understand. You weren't sure if you could make this travel alone without him.
You rarely visited Opifex, but you had connections as you'd offer occasional assistance in developing robots that were created on this planet.
Your main connection was a level 3 robot named Changkyun. He had previously assisted in the creation of another idol robot, which you were the head developer of. You hadn't spoken to him since, yet you knew he'd be able to help Wonwoo. Discreetly at that.
You knew you weren't safe yet. Even if the tracking was removed from the ship and you had escaped from Earth, anyone could identify Wonwoo and the logo on your ship.
There was a constant state of fear during your travel to Opifex that you'd be caught. Tracked down. That Wonwoo would completely lose his charge.
"What is wrong, Y/N?" Wonwoo's concerned for you. He knows exactly why you're anxious, he is too. But he's hoping he can quell your anxiety somehow.
"I'm just tired, Wonwoo," you sigh, checking the ship's charge levels, anxiety only growing upon realizing you really do have to stop in Opifex soon. "Also concerned about getting to Lumen safely. We really need to stop at Opifex to make sure you're repaired before we even consider locating Lumen."
Wonwoo's free hand runs through your hair, the comforting motion alien to you, but you gladly accept it, leaning your head into his hand as he soothes you.
"How much longer until we reach Opifex?" You can tell Wonwoo is drained too. He needs Changkyun's help as soon as possible.
"I believe only a day more of travel," you confirm per the navigation. You know how to get there, and where to land. You decide against pinging Changkyun, in order to eliminate as much of a footprint as possible.
"Why don't you get some rest?" Wonwoo prods when he realizes your eyes start to roll back, head bobbing to the side after a while.
"Do you mind?"
"Of course not," he smiles gently, making your stomach flip.
You oblige, not having the will to fight after the past events. You lay back in the cot behind the main seating area. Observing Wonwoo as he takes his place in the captain's seat, he adjusts the controls to his liking as he navigates Opifex.
Your heart pounds as you observe him, Wonwoo made you feel free, he made you feel safe even in times like this. You've never felt this way about anyone. It's hard to fall asleep, these thoughts consuming your mind.
Wonwoo turns back to check on you, the same soft smile making you flush as you lay on the bed admiring him. You can't help but feel a connection with him, emotionally, and desire even more.
Eventually, sleep took you after much contemplation of your thoughts.
When you awoke, it only felt like you had slept a blink of an eye's time. The ship rattled, alarming you and jostling you awake. Only to realize that Wonwoo had landed the ship. You immediately recognized the planet, he had safely landed the ship at Opifex.
Wonwoo's smile relaxed you even further, dusting off his pants as he stood up and headed towards you. As per usual, Wonwoo's hand ran through your hair, instantaneously soothing you.
"We've arrived," he coos softly, trying his best not to overstimulate you more in your drowsy state. "Just lead the way once you're ready."
It's easy to see he is drained as well, in desperate need of a charge, and you're relieved that you've made it to Opifex.
The both of you quickly tidy yourselves up, you do your best to cover Wonwoo's damaged arm, not wanting to draw any unnecessary attention to the automation as you make your way to Changkyun's workshop.
There was an odd sense of security here, but you knew you had to lay low. You didn't want word of your appearance here. You knew his company would be looking for him, as that's all they were doing prior to the escape for the other members who had left before Wonwoo.
It was easy to find Changkyun, his shop was located where you had previously remembered it. It felt almost nostalgic coming across his shop, he had an eclectic style, yet the place was tidy enough to store and easily find all his supplies.
"Y/N?" Changkyun questioned in delightful surprise as you knocked at his door. "What are you doing here? It's been quite some time."
"Hello, Changkyun," you smile brightly. Something that Wonwoo can only pin as jealous pings inside him at your reaction.
How odd, he thinks to himself.
"Do you mind if we come in? I do have a favor to ask, which is why we are here," you speak quickly, emphasizing that you didn't just show up for no reason.
Changkyun holds the door open for you both, allowing you and Wonwoo to shuffle into the shop. Wonwoo takes note of the large magnifying lens contraption strapped to Changkyun's head, quickly noting that he is a Level 3 robot, and shows his own wear and tear after working all these years.
Wonwoo immediately deems him as trustworthy.
"What is this favor you are requesting," Changkyun prods, curiously eyeing Wonwoo as if he could understand where this was going.
"I can't share too many details," you speak hurriedly, beginning to unwrap the material around Wonwoo's damaged arm to provide Changkyun with a visualization of the problem at hand. "We've escaped Earth. However, in the process of avoiding getting caught, Wonwoo had ripped his port out. I think it's affecting his charging system. I just don't think we can go on for much longer until we have some sort of fix."
Changkyun hums in understanding, immediately resorting to his tools and materials. "I'm not sure if I'll have the materials for a level 1 robot, I haven't created one in quite some time, but let me see what I have."
You and Wonwoo let Changkyun search, shuffling around the shop quietly as you try your best to quell your anxiety. You hope and pray that Changkyun can help, there is no one else you feel comfortable resorting to. There is an unspoken trust that you have with the Level 3 robot, after spending years learning from his skills and further understanding the creation of robots.
Wonwoo's free hand is grasped in yours, you aren't quite sure when this happened, but it eases you slightly. You've grown to become attached to Wonwoo, amazed by how quickly things changed between each session and landing you in this scenario.
Thankfully, after a while of searching, Changkyun determines he has parts that will suffice, and will be enough to repair Wonwoo's system in order to allow him to charge properly.
Changkyun bids you off, encouraging you to get some rest as he makes the proper repairs to Wonwoo. You're continuously flooded with thoughts, but part of you feels better knowing you now have Changkyun's help. You hope Wonwoo can charge up before you continue your journey.
It takes a few hours, Changkyun claims the connections are not as direct as he thought they'd be, but by the time he is done, Wonwoo seems way too worn down.
Changkyun encourages you both to get your rest before continuing with your journey. He offers you a place to stay, it isn't much, but it's a spare bedroom in the back of his shop, offering it as a safe place to rest before continuing.
"Thank you," you hum sincerely, expressing your gratitude one last time before Changkyun wraps up for the day to head to his normal engagements. "Thank you so much for your help."
"Anytime, Y/N," he smiles, bidding you both good-bye and good luck on the rest of your journey.
That night you and Wonwoo share the crickety bed in the back of Changkyun's shop. Wonwoo had been timid originally, but you claimed it was alright, that it would provide you some more comfort if anything.
Wonwoo was relieved at that because he couldn't think of anything better. He was finally able to get closer to you.
Laying next to him, you adjusted the glasses and sat on the bridge of his nose, they'd always fall down a bit when he wasn't paying attention, a feature about him that you found so endearing.
Wonwoo was seeming better already, charging much faster than you anticipated. His hands found their way to your arm, nimble fingers running up and down your skin.
He could recognize the way your skin bubbled with chills, uncertain of what he was doing that made you react this way. His skin didn't react like this to touch, but the way yours reacts reminds him just how sensitive humans are.
"What are you doing?" You hum in content, enjoying the softness of Wonwoo's skin on yours. His skin was different, not nearly as warm as a human touch, but the synthetic skin was so smooth, feeling comfortable as it dragged across yours.
"What are these bumps on your arm?" He asks out of genuine curiosity.
"You're kidding," you laugh, eyes opening humorously to gauge if Wonwoo is serious. He is absolutely dead serious. "It's this phenomenon, we tend to call them goosebumps. It's a bodily alert that humans feel, a reaction to touch."
Wonwoo hums in acknowledgment, "Is it good?"
"In this case," you smile, enjoying his innocent curiosity, "it is very good. It feels nice what you're doing. Very soothing."
"What else causes goosebumps?"
You can't tell if he's twisting your arm at this point, looking for a reaction, because there is an insinuation in his tone as his hand drags upwards towards your neck, looking for more of a reaction from your skin. Which he earns, as goosebumps run all up and down your body at his barely-there touch.
His fingers travel to the crook of your neck, his hand wrapping around the back of your head and finding a home in your hair. He pulls you closer, testing the waters as he yearns to feel more of your body against his. Curious to see if he can pull more of a reaction out of you. It's all so new for him and he's hungry for more.
"Wonwoo," you whimper, allowing him to pull you into his body, your lips falling impossibly close to his perfectly molded ones. "Are you trying to send me into shock?"
You try to joke, but your words come out whiney as Wonwoo's lips brush yours.
"I don't know," he teases, his plush buds continuing to skim yours. "Is this good?"
"It's very good," you confirm yet again, your breath being knocked out of your lungs when Wonwoo's lips finally attach to yours. Kissing him is different, it's almost as if he's immediately on the same wavelength as you.
Your lips fall into the same rhythm, and you're just realizing this is something you've been craving for a while now. It becomes heated quickly, and Wonwoo's hands stay wrapped in your hair, ensuring you can't break away from the kiss.
He understands what it is like to be addicted to something now. He recognizes this feeling as lust, knowing of its effects and understanding why humans love it so much. He needs more of you and he needs more now.
Wonwoo pulls you on top of him, the motion feeling incredibly natural as he continues to kiss you, swallowing your little noises as you moan in delight.
You can sense him react to you in a similar manner as a human. You forget how advanced Level 1 robots are sometimes. You had been a bit worried that he wouldn't react similarly, but you can feel his cock swells beneath you.
"Wonwoo," you whine, finally breaking the kiss after what felt like light years of delight. However, you need more. "Please, need you to touch me. Need you to fuck me."
"I need it too, Y/N," he groans, the sound that comes from him is deep, uncharacteristic of his usual voice, but it sends shivers down your spine. Wonwoo is encouraged by the goosebumps that reappear on your skin, very apparent to him as you remove your shirt.
Wonwoo's lips instinctually wrap around your pebbled nipple, loving the way the bud peaks along with the bumps on your skin. He's even more encouraged by the sound that falls from your lips, a breathy moan that has his cock growing even harder.
"Please," you croon. "Can't wait much longer."
He's quick to pull his pants down, helping you stumble out of your shorts and underwear as well. He's amazed by how wet your nether regions are, and you're amazed by just how perfectly sculpted his cock is.
"You're perfect," you moan, running your folds over his length and pulling another groan of pleasure from him. "God, whoever created you did an amazing job."
You raise yourself slightly, teasing yourself with the head of his cock, the skin soft against your folds as you wet his length. You sink down slowly, your walls contracting in delight as your pussy greedily accepts his thick manhood.
Wonwoo recognizes the slight pain in your features as you accept him, but he can also sense the relief you feel as he bottoms out, feeling the contraction of your walls around him throughout his entire system.
"Let me ride you," you moan when you sense that Wonwoo is hesitant. "Let me take care of you."
He doesn't argue, overwhelmed by the unrecognizable pleasure he feels as you begin to bob up and down on his cock. Your nails dig into his skin, a sensation he's never felt before as they clamp into his shoulders, leaving divots in his synthetic skin and claiming your mark on him.
The pathetic noises that tumble out of you encourage him to move, his hips rolling upwards into yours and pulling even more deranged sounds from you, ones that encourage him to groan in enjoyment.
Wonwoo watches as a bead of sweat falls down your neck, loving the effect and glow that graces your skin. His hands wrap into your hair, pulling it up off your neck as you continue to ride his cock with more fervor.
He pulls on your hair tightly, enough for you to feel a tinge of pain, but it only increases the pleasure you feel in the deepest pits of your stomach. Your clit burns and throbs at the pleasure, your core heating and winding up tightly as you roll your hips against his, meeting each thrust of his.
"Wonwoo," you're screaming at this point, eyes blown out as you watch him, his jaw hanging slack as he becomes overwhelmed with the feeling of you wrapped so tightly around him. The friction of your pussy around his cock has him feeling engulfed in all ways by you.
The pleasure that builds inside him begins to feel impossible to fight off, he's unsure if he can hold this feeling back much longer, especially not when your walls throb around him with each thrust.
It's brutal at this point, the sound of your skin slapping against his, the visual of your breasts bouncing in front of him, and how you feel all too perfect like this.
"Y/N," he breathes out in desperation, "can't hold it for much longer. You feel too good."
"Good," you cry out, no longer able to hold your own pleasure back. "Finish with me, Wonwoo, release."
Wonwoo can feel the fluttering of your walls, the intense pleasure exploding inside you as you spasm around his cock, your body falling limp in his arms as you reach your high. Wonwoo is pleasured too, but you're not filled with cum, only watching as he reaches his own form of pure pleasure. He continues to thrust into you, driving you into overstimulation.
Wonwoo doesn't realize you're spent, especially since he can't necessarily be spent himself, he has the stamina of a Level 1 automation overall. However, he recognizes it after he pulls one more orgasm from you, holding up your form as your limbs can no longer hold your body up.
That night you sleep incredibly well in his arms, connecting with him on a level you would have never anticipated. This was something you would have never imagined as a developer, something you always condemned previously, as you feared growing a connection like this.
But now that you have it, you'd do everything to not lose it.
The next morning, you are awoken by a frantic Wonwoo. Changkyun had come early, informing you that there are correspondent Level 3 robots searching for you and Wonwoo.
Word has spread, and you're no longer safe here at Opifex.
Changkyun informs you that your ship has been reclaimed by the company. However, he offers you an older ship he has in the far back of his shop. It isn't the most modern craft, but it will get you to Lumen.
After providing you with the proper navigation and instructions on the ship, Changkyun bids you both goodbye yet again.
Thankfully because of Changkyun, you and Wonwoo are able to escape yet again, continuing your journey to Lumen. You continue to spend this time with Wonwoo, feeling more at piece in an unidentifiable craft, and knowing that his damage has been repaired.
It's comfortable with Wonwoo, you two work well as partners you've determined. You take shifts navigating the ship, Wonwoo has become quite the captain as you spend the next few days searching for Lumen.
Thankfully, your trip has come to an end, even though you've enjoyed the time with Wonwoo, the travel has been tough. You can see Lumen in the distance. A planet similar to Earth, yet seemingly a bit more thriving as you approach the safe haven planet.
★+ Lumen +★
Lumen. Wonwoo and you had finally landed safely on the planet. It felt safe. It felt like home. You felt as if you could be anything and everything you wanted to be with Wonwoo.
Lumen is similar to Earth, yet the land is lush and the population is diverse. Travelers from multiple planets have made their way here seeking safety. Here you felt accepted. You didn't have to consider the previous system of Earth. You weren't tied to anything.
Both you and Wonwoo could start fresh, and you both could sense this feeling. Wonwoo held your hand tightly, breathing in the fresh air and peering down at you. You looked peaceful, eyes shut as you did the same, head lulling back as the crisp air filled your senses.
This made Wonwoo's eyes flood with adoration seeing you look this free. He remembered what you once were like on the first day you met him. He felt lucky knowing he could be here with you, like this, now. He knows of others who weren't that lucky to have their partners with them after escaping their planets.
Here you'd settle with Wonwoo, in a quaint house where you two could be your true selves, and not worry about others' expectations of you two. Wonwoo holds you tightly at night, knowing that he always has you, the first person who has ever understood and listened to him. The unexpected developer that he can live freely with.

💎🐈‍⬛When did we normalize danger?
Title from SOS (SEVENTEEN)
Summary: “Hey, Wonwoo-yah”, Seungcheol greeted happily, “how is your photoshoot going?” “Hyung? Can you come and get me?”, Wonwoo whispered, feeling a bit choked up all of a sudden.
CW: emeto, medical issues with the eyes
Whumpee/Sickie: Wonwoo Caretaker(s): S.Coups/Seungcheol + Jeonghan
(It’s okay)
“Okay, nearly done”, the stylist noona announced, fixing a few strands of Wonwoo’s hair before stepping back to inspect her work. “I think I outdid myself.”
“You did, noona”, Wonwoo agreed, laughing at her proud smile. He was at a solo photoshoot to model for The Face Shop again, an activity he enjoyed more than he ever thought he would. The staff was always the same and they were very kind and forthcoming. He had grown quite close to them, as much as work allowed. “Can I keep my glasses on or do I need to switch to contact lenses?”
“I’m afraid you’ll have to go with the lenses this time, sweetie”, she said, looking very apologetic though it certainly wasn’t her fault. “Apparently in this studio due to the new lamps the glasses might reflect the light so that the pictures will be useless.”
“It’s not your fault”, Wonwoo protested, already rifling through his backpack to find his contact lens case. Where had he put it? When he couldn’t just find it with touch alone, he completely opened his bag and searched through it.
Yet the contact lens case didn’t turn up.
For a moment, horror washed over him. A hot flush of shame encased his body and he felt his hands start to tremble badly. This was the worst case scenario - normally he was so diligent and reliable. For a reason. He hated inconveniencing others and currently, if he had no contacts, he would either end up accidentally squinting on camera and have to rely on somebody to get around or they might even have to break the contract - an expensive collaboration between their company and The Face Shop - if the pictures didn’t work out.
“Everything okay, Wonwoo-ssi?”, the stylist asked worriedly.
“I … I can’t find my contact lenses. I think I forgot them at home”, he whispered, bowing his head in shame. “I am so sorry.”
“Oh”, she said, “well, maybe your manager has a back-up pair?”
“I … I don’t know. I’ll ask”, Wonwoo said, cursing his own stupidity. Of all the days of this to happen was when there was a scheduling conflict, leaving him completely on his own at the other company. The manager had just dropped him off and then driven away to run an errand or something. It was moments like this that made Wonwoo hate solo schedules with a passion. He would have given a lot for his Seungcheol-hyung to take over dealing with the situation and his Jeonghannie-hyung’s comforting hugs.
Instead, he called the manager, hoping he had a solution.
💎
Fifteen minutes later the manager hurried in, handing over a contact case he had luckily found in the glove compartment of the car.
“My lifesaver, thank you”, Wonwoo thanked him with a deep bow, “I’m sorry for the … well, for everything.”
“No worries, Wonwoo-yah. I really need to go now, though. Remember to take your eyedrops before”, the manager said and vanished again.
Wonwoo took out his eyedrops, putting them in. He hated them with a passion but there was nothing he could do. His eyes were always so dry - one of the reasons he never really wore contacts in the first place, the other his hand tremor making it too hard to put them in - and today wasn’t a good day to begin with. As he unpacked the lenses, he accidentally had a glance at the expiration date printed on the case.
At once his heart dropped to his stomach. With the expiry rate this close to that day’s date it was clear that this was a very, very old pair. If he had to guess likely from over three years ago - meaning that it wasn’t his current prescription. He knew that it wasn’t the best idea to wear lenses that were so outdated and would probably hurt his eyes but he also couldn’t just not wear them. Not after his manager had run all the way down to the car to get them. Not if he would otherwise be a stumbling, blind idiot who should have remembered to pack the right prescription that morning. He’d rather have slightly less blurry sight than go completely without help, thank you very much.
Putting them in was as awful as it always was. It was hard to place them with his hand shaking so much. And, beside the fact that it was just wrong to have something directly on his eyes, he just couldn’t tell if they were placed correctly. After fumbling around for a few minutes, he gave up. It would have to do.
Already he could feel the headache starting.
When he arrived at the studio where they would take the pictures he was regretting his decision. It was even more awful to see less blurry than he normally did. At least that level he was used to. But taking the lenses out again was out of the question.
At least the atmosphere at the set was nice. He had worked with that particular photographer before and liked him well enough. It would be doable. Then he recognized belatedly who the woman waiting for him was.
“Good morning, Wonwoo-ssi”, the director greeted him with a small bow.
Wonwoo smiled at her, greeting her as well. He liked the woman, though she was a high executive for The Face Shop she always took the time to come greet him when he was asked to model for them - like today. It was nice to chat with her and often she would speak about the concept and even watch some of the photoshoot later on. He considered himself very lucky that she approached him with grace and kindness, never once making anything awkward despite his own awkwardness and shyness around strangers.
“I’m sorry for the delay”, he apologized, bowing his head.
“Don’t worry about it. Stuff happens. Sadly, I won’t be able to watch the whole shoot today but I will pop in sometimes to see how it’s going, alright?”
“Thank you, director-nim.”
💎
(No, no more)
Two hours later, Wonwoo was done with the day.
Constantly trying to compensate for blurry vision and simultaneously trying not to look like he was doing it was hard. A headache was pounding in his skull at the same time as his heartbeat. His eyes were extremely dry and stung so badly he could barely tolerate the harsh overhead lights. A dull sense of nausea swirled in his stomach - topping off a terrible day.
Yet, he continued. There was no sense in breaking off the photo shoot now and going back another day. Even worse, the director had come back in a few minutes ago - he liked her a lot, that was true, but he really wasn’t up for any idle chit-chat or for her to watch him as he fumbled his way through the shoot. He knew it wasn’t up to his standard, he knew he would hate whatever pictures the photographer would take.
“Wonwoo-ssi? Is everything alright?”, the director asked out of the blue. Wonwoo looked up, blinking harshly and trying to focus on her. His head swirled for a moment as he tried to adjust himself to look over where the photographer and the director were talking quietly with each other.
He couldn’t bring out much more than a pathetic: “Huh?”
“Your eyes look really red and watery”, the photographer commented, “let’s pull the pictures up on the screen but I’m afraid it will show.”
Closing his eyes for a moment, Wonwoo took a deep breath and stepped down the platform he had been standing on for the shoot. Well, he tried to. With his vision blurry as it was he misstepped, expecting a bigger height than it actually was and slammed his foot against the ground. Immediately a hot pain shot up his ankle up to his calf, causing Wonwoo to stumble and drawing a sharp hiss from between his teeth.
“Are you alright?”, the director asked worriedly, hurrying over to Wonwoo who stood rooted to the ground as he tried to figure out if it was just a momentary pain or something worse.
“I …”, Wonwoo tried to speak up but broke off. He wasn’t alright, so much was clear. But he also couldn’t just ask to stop the photoshoot now, could he?
“It’s your foot, isn’t it? The impact looked painful? Did you misjudge the distance or were you dizzy or something?”, the director fretted. Wonwoo didn’t expect her to reach out to him, flinching as she touched his arm.
He could tell he was getting overwhelmed, everything becoming just a bit too much and too big for him. His ankle was throbbing, his eyes and head were aching and he was slowly becoming really dizzy and nauseous from his swimming vision.
The director seemed to take his silence and flinch as a sign that something was wrong, apologizing for scaring him and then adding: “Come on, let’s sit down, okay?”
Wonwoo let himself be pushed down onto the step, sitting down and stretching out his leg. Now that the immediate moment of impact was over he could tell it was indeed just the shock that had hurt, the pain in his foot slowly ebbing away.
At least something, even if he nearly wished that it was instead the headache that had faded.
“I’m fine, director-nim”, he said then, glad he finally found his words. “I think I just slipped. The pain is much better. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.”
“Are you sure? That looked painful”, she replied, sounding unconvinced.
“Yeah, I’m good to continue. My foot is fine, really.”
“What’s wrong with your eyes then?”, she asked bluntly. “Wonwoo-ssi, I’m really sorry, even if we wanted to continue - your eyes look really red and swollen. What is going on today? This isn’t like you.”
Wonwoo sighed, not really wanting to reveal his struggle to her. He was still a bit embarrassed about forgetting the contacts in the first place and he knew that he was costing both companies a lot of money at the moment.
“I … I forgot my contact lenses at home”, he started hesitantly, despite his weariness. She had been nothing but kind to him and he really had nothing to win with lying anyways, if they couldn’t continue. He didn’t want to imagine how bad his eyes looked considering how awful they felt. “My manager had some old ones in the car but it’s a really old prescription and normally my eyes don’t do well with contacts anyways. Guess it’s all catching up to me now.”
The director hummed sympathetically. “You’re having a really crappy day, hm? Why don’t you call your manager and go home? I think we should have enough pictures for it to work out. If not we’ll just reschedule the shoot. It’s no big issue. There is no sense in continuing. And don’t you dare apologize again.”
“Sorry”, Wonwoo offered, then sheepishly ducked his head. “I, yeah, I guess I should go home.”
What else was there to be done?
The director even went so far as to grab him something to drink and get his phone so he could call somebody to take him home. As he held his phone in his hand, ready to dial the manager, he was hit with a sudden sense of longing.
The manager was a kind man and he had been with the team for a long time. But …
… if Wonwoo was really honest to himself, he just wanted his hyungs after everything that had happened.
Without further thought, scared he would talk himself out of it if he hesitated any longer, Wonwoo dialed the number and lifted his phone to his ear, closing his eyes in exhaustion.
“Hey, Wonwoo-yah”, Seungcheol greeted happily, “how is your photoshoot going?”
“Hyung? Can you come and get me?”, Wonwoo whispered, feeling a bit choked up all of a sudden.
“Yes, of course. I’ll be there as soon as I can”, Seungcheol promised immediately, with no hint of hesitation, his voice dripping with concern, “but Wonwoo-yah, what happened?”
“It’s a long story.”

By the time Seungcheol arrived, Wonwoo was desperate for a hug. He had already switched back to the jeans and comfy hoodie he had arrived in, most of the make-up wiped away. However, no matter how much he had tried and no matter how careful the stylist had been during her tries, they couldn’t get the contacts out.
Wonwoo knew it was a risk - using them with dry eyes always was a bad idea - but now with his eyes burning and watering it seemed to be impossible.
“Wonwoo-yah”, Seungcheol called, rushing inside the room not caring for anything but getting to his dongsaeng.
“Hyung”, Wonwoo replied, his voice coming out shakier and more desperate than expected. He turned around on the swivel make-up chair just in time. Within seconds he was wrapped in a strong embrace, Seungcheol holding him tightly and even gently cupping Wonwoo’s head to his chest with his hand.
“I’m here, baby”, Seungcheol said and Wonwoo could just imagine the worried pout he probably had on his face, the same one he always had when one of his “kids” was sick or injured. Just breathing in his leader’s perfume gave Wonwoo a sense of home, making him grab onto the back of Seungcheol’s hoodie. He was aware that he was embarrassing himself in front of the director and the stylist but for once he couldn't care less.
After a few moments of just rocking them both from side to side, Seungcheol carefully pulled away. Wonwoo reluctantly let him, dropping his hands to his lap and staring down.
Suddenly he was embarrassed. He never should have asked Seungcheol to come - the leader had a lot on his plate and Wonwoo could have easily called the manager. Well, the manager might not have been available but that was a different story. Seungcheol hadn’t needed to drive across the whole city just to collect one of his hyung-line members who was too stupid to remember to pack his contact lenses.
“Ah, ah, I know that face”, Seungcheol said, his hand coming up to cradle Wonwoo’s cheek, “don’t apologize. From what you said I know you had a terrible day and, I’m sorry for being this blunt, but you look awful. I’m glad to be here for you.”
“Thanks”, Wonwoo mumbled quietly, face heating up under the caring attention. It always blew his mind just how much Seungcheol loved them all, loved him.
“Thank you for coming to take him home, S.Coups-ssi”, the director said, stepping over to them in the silence that followed, “I’m the director. Nice to meet you in person.”
“Nice to meet you too”, Seungccheol replied politely, bowing slightly. “Is it alright if I take Wonwoo home now or is there anything you need to talk about with the contract?”
“No, no. Take him. If there is anything we need to go, I’ll call his manager in the next few days. Maybe we got enough good pictures before we needed to stop. I think the most important thing right now is to get his contacts out.”
“They are not out?”, the leader asked worriedly, turning to Wonwoo again, automatically placing his hand on Wonwoo’s shoulder.
Wonwoo shook his head. “I couldn’t. It hurts. I can’t keep my eyes open to get them and with my hand tremor I’m not steady enough anyway.”
Seungcheol hummed unhappily. “I doubt you want to go to the ER. Why don’t I drive us home and then we can try to figure out how to do this? I think Hannie can help. What do you think?”
“Yeah, let’s go home”, Wonwoo croaked.
💎
Getting to the car was a mess. By the time they made it, Wonwoo was shaking all over, vision swimming so badly he could barely see anything but vague lights and he was clutching Seungcheol’s arm for dear life. The headache had not relented and he wasn’t sure if the rolling feeling in his stomach was nerves or nausea.
He collapsed into the seat, too exhausted to even buckle himself up. So Seungcheol did, gently talking to Wonwoo about his day to keep his mind off everything. How he had gotten brunch with the maknae-line members, how Seungkwan and Dino had play-fought over the last egg and gotten so distracted with it that they hadn’t noticed Vernon peeling and eating the whole thing until it was gone. How long and boring the meeting with the company executives was. How he had worked in the studio with Woozi, who had accidentally deleted a sample when he had sneezed and consequently pouted through the whole writing session. How he had been dancing with Jeonghan when Wonwoo had called. It was a nice distraction, enough to loosen some of the tension in Wonwoo’s shoulders.
“Close your eyes”, Seungcheol suggested as he started the ignition, “sleep if you can. We’ll figure everything out, okay?”
Wonwoo hummed in response, taking the advice.
He didn’t manage to fall asleep, however. The stop and go of the Seoul traffic was causing his stomach to slowly turn even more sour than before. It was no surprise, Wonwoo was normally already prone to motion sickness and apparently closing his eyes was the wrong move. Normally he would be fine in the front seat so maybe the issue was that his eyes couldn’t tell his body which motion to expect.
So he opened his eyes only to realize … that this wasn’t a solution at all. With his vision so blurry he couldn’t tell what was about to happen anyway. If anything the bright light was making his eyes burn and his head pound more.
It took about three intersections and the constant rocking of the car when stopping and starting again, that Wonwoo had to admit defeat. Holding out was not an option.
“Hyungie”, he spoke up quietly, hesitantly.
“Yeah?” Seungcheol seemed completely focused on the street in front of him, for which Wonwoo was thankful but he also just wanted him to realize what was wrong without having to speak up.
Today was really not his day.
“I’m … I’m really nauseous.” Wonwoo breathed out. “I think I’m carsick...”
“Oh. Okay. Uhm, try to look out the front … oh…” Seungcheol realized the problem quickly. Wonwoo could imagine the concerned frown of his face perfectly.
“Yeah”, he whispered.
“It’s still about fifteen minutes of driving. I can’t really pull over anywhere…”, Seungcheol said worriedly - probably both for his dongsaeng and his car interior. “Do you think you can hold out that long?”
Wonwoo bit his lip. His stomach was really upset now and his whole body was clouded in the shroud of nausea that made everything feel lethargic and unwell. His throat was tight in a very uncomfortable way and he had to compulsory swallow every few seconds.
“I don’t know. I don’t think so.” He felt close to crying but it was bad enough that he was mostly blind and carsick in his hyung’s car. If Wonwoo started to cry now he didn’t think he could ever stop again.
“Okay, it’s okay”, Seungcheol said, probably sensing Wonwoo’s impending breakdown and resting one of his hands on Wonwoo’s knee. “I don’t think I have a bag. Let’s just put your backpack on the backseat just in case. The floor matts can be cleaned easily enough.”
There was nothing Wonwoo wanted to do less than throw up in his hyung’s car - literally.
He grabbed his bag nevertheless and haphazardly threw it into the back, then leaned straight up against the seat, hoping it would help somehow. Seungcheol’s hand never left his knee.
💎
After a few minutes of deep breaths, he couldn’t help it anymore. He was so nauseous it was painful, his stomach cramping under his hand, the other hand pressed to his mouth. All he could do was swallow and pray.
“Wonwoo, baby, don’t hurt yourself”, Seungcheol interfered gently, “if you need to be sick, let it happen. Maybe you’ll feel better after. It’s really okay.” The leader's attention seemed to be more on Wonwoo than on the traffic now, as loud honks signaled.
“Eyes on the ro…”, Wonwoo pressed out, a sudden gag surprising him. It all happened so quickly that he couldn’t stop it. His body bent forward without any of his conscious doing, a prelude of what was to happen. Spreading his legs was all he could do before he was throwing up onto the expensive interior. He pressed his burning eyes shut against the sight.
“Shh, breathe”, Seungcheol soothed, patting Wonwoo’s back even while driving. Vaguely Wonwoo hoped he was paying more attention to the street now but he was too preoccupied with turning himself inside out to worry too much about it.
His stomach contracted again and again and everything that Wonwoo had eaten spilled down his lips and dripped down his chin. He was so nauseated and dizzy he could barely tell where up and down was, his hands pressing against his head, elbows on his knees, the only thing giving him a bit of orientation.
He felt disgusting, nauseous, sweaty and most of all very humiliated and tired. His stomach was churning relentlessly and he didn’t dare lift his head up for the rest of the drive even when he hadn’t thrown up in a good five minutes. He probably was just empty though, nausea still present nevertheless.
The headache seemed to reach new highs as he sat there trembling all over, sure he would lose any grip he had on himself should Seungcheol take his hand off his back. And indeed, as they pulled into the parking garage of their building and Seungcheol had to let go of him to park, Wonwoo couldn’t help the whimper escaping his lips. Tears and snot streamed down his face.
“Oh, Wonwoo-yah”, Seungcheol said, sounding a bit helpless. “We’re here. It’s gonna be alright. I texted Hannie, he is gonna help us get upstairs. We’ll get the contacts out and then you can go to sleep for as long as you want.”
They stayed like that with Wonwoo queasily bent over his mess and Seungcheol rubbing his back and muttering comforting nonsense until the passenger door was opened and Jeonghan said: “Oh, Wonwoo, baby. Come on, let’s get out of the car.”
With the help of his second oldest hyung, Wonwoo was able to stand on wobbly legs while holding onto Jeonghan for stability. All his strength had left him between entering the car and now getting out and as he could barely open his eyes anymore he was terribly disoriented. It was easier to just close his aching eyes and depend on his hyungs.
“Can you get him upstairs, Hannie?”, Seungcheol asked, voice coming closer as he exited the car himself and placed a warm hand on Wonwoo’s hip. “I’ll try to clean out the car.”
Wonwoo buried his face in Jeonghan’s shoulder, clutching at his hyung in humiliation. “I’m so sorry”, he whispered, voice muffled by the comfortable sweatshirt Jeongan wore.
“Don’t be sorry”, Seungcheol comforted, “it’s alright. You’re not well.”
“Let’s go, hm?”, Jeonghan said, wrapping his arm around Wonwoo’s waist to guide him. “You trust hyung, don’t you?”
All Wonwoo could do was nod and let himself be led.
💎
Jeonghan brought him to the apartment Wonwoo shared with their general leader, Joshua, Mingyu and Minghao. They were all familiar with the layouts of each other's apartments, spending a lot of time just cycling through the dorms but Wonwoo was still glad for the familiarity.
At least it seemed like none of the other members were home at the moment.
Wonwoo was sat down on the closed toilet seat, slumping into himself in exhaustion while Jeonghan bustled around.
“Are you still nauseous?”, Jeonghan asked before a clattering sound signaled to Wonwoo that he had placed down a bucket just in case no matter what Wonwoo would answer.
“A bit”, he admitted, “but it’s now more from my headache than motion sickness.”
“Is it from the contact lenses or something else?”, Jeonghan asked, his voice sounding close like he was crouched down in front of Wonwoo. Indeed, a few seconds later, Jeonghan took his hand and pressed a cup into his hand. “Rinse.”
How did Jeonghan know? Then again, Seungcheol probably had texted him the whole story or at least enough information that Jeonghan knew what was going on.
Playing for time, Wonwoo swished out his mouth with the offered mouthwash, happy to wash the taste of puke away. It was then that he realized he needed to get to the sink to spit it out and he really didn’t want to get up and stumbled his way there.
As if he had read his mind Jeonghan advised: “Just spit it back into the cup, I can dump it out in the sink. You rest.”
Too dizzy and exhausted to fight the renewed embarrassment creeping up on him, Wonwoo did as asked. He felt terribly self-conscious when he pressed the cup over his mouth and let the mouthwash fall back into it but Jeonghan didn’t seem to care. He just took the cup from him and set it aside, then patted Wonwoo’s knee.
“Tell me how you feel”, Jeonghan encouraged, pushing a strand of Wonwoo’s hair behind his ear.
“My head hurts”, Wonwoo hesitantly started. “Maybe because of how blurry my vision is. Or due to dehydration” - a mix of throwing up and crying would do that - “I dunno. My eyes are burning really badly and I can barely see when I open my eyes. I just want to sleep.”
“You can soon, hm?”, Jeonghan said in his soothing voice, reserved for hysterical and sad dongsaengs. If he wasn’t so exhausted Wonwoo would have been offended that he used it on him. “Let’s try to get those contacts out. Pain meds and sleep after.”
💎
It wasn’t as easy as Jeonghan had seemed to imagine. The dryness of his eyes caused the lenses to stick to Wonwoo’s eyes, and the burning pain from the wrong prescription and the blurriness of his vision caused Wonwoo to not being able to keep his eyes open, especially as he closed them reflexively when the darkness of Jeonghan’s finger came close.
After numerous fruitless tries, Wonwoo gave a frustrated cry, curling into himself as much as he could. It was a scary experience - something in his eyes that was damaging them and refused to come out terrifying. Especially with his already fragile state of mind he was slowly becoming numb and restless at the same time.
That was when Seungcheol came in, apparently having cleaned … no, Wonwoo didn’t want to think about it.
“No success?”, he asked worriedly, seeing Jeonghan hovering over Wonwoo, with the latter hugging himself in defeat.
“No.” Jeonghan sighed. “ER?”
“No, please”, Wonwoo whispered. He couldn’t take going to a bustling hospital on top of everything.
“Let’s try a different approach and if that doesn’t work, we will go to the doctor”, Seungcheol decided.
💎
Five minutes later, Wonwoo found himself basically sitting on Seungcheol’s lap, leaning back against his leader and wrapped safely in his arms. The hyungs had decided they should relocate to the couch to create a more relaxed atmosphere which apparently meant that Wonwoo was going to be cuddled. If he was honest, he didn’t mind.
Seungcheol was leaning back against the backrest and had Wonwoo rest against his shoulder so that Jeonghan had easy access to his eyes.
“Are you comfy?”, the leader asked gently.
“Yeah”, Wonwoo mumbled, feeling the tips of his ears turn red. Deep down he loved the doting and coddling but it was weird nevertheless. It seemed so exposed in the living room where suddenly a member coming home from schedules could see.
“Okay, I’m going to put in more eyedrops now”, Jeonghan said and carefully squeezed some of the liquid into Wonwoo’s eyes. “Blink a bit to get it moving around.”
Wonwoo did as bid.
“Ready?”, Jeonghan asked. Wonwoo nodded, for the first time feeling like he could do this. Seungcheol had taken his hands in his own, their intertwined hands a nice weight on Wonwoo’s stomach. With Seungcheol holding him and Jeonghan’s gentleness, maybe this could work.
Jeonghan pushed his eyelid up, which made Wonwoo’s eyes burn. But then he realized it was very dark in the room and he couldn’t even see Jeonghan’s face or his hands.
“Why is it so dark?”, he asked, fear making his chest ache. Rationally he knew he was overreacting but having issues with his eyes and then opening to find himself unable to see anything was unsettling. “What…?”
“Shhh, it’s okay”, Seungcheol soothed, playing with Wonwoo’s fingers in comfort. “We thought it might be easier for you if you couldn’t see your hyungs’ hand coming closer. I promise there is enough light for Hannie to see what he is doing. I thought you heard us talking but you were really spaced out, huh?”
“I guess”, Wonwoo mumbled, feeling a bit ridiculous how he had overreacted. But well, with the day he had, no wonder his nerves were fried. The rational explanation of his emotional state barely comforted him.
“Okay, love, take a deep breath while I wash my hands again. I’m going to be very careful, okay?”, Jeonghan said, his thumb rubbing Wonwoo’s cheek.
Wonwoo nodded and breathed.
💎
All too soon Jeonghan was back. Gently he pushed the eyelid up again. Then without any warning, Wonwoo could feel his hand connect and then: “I got it.”
Tears streamed down Wonwoo’s cheek in relief.
“Let’s do the other side as well, okay?”, Jeonghan said.
This time it wasn’t so easy. The lense didn’t seem to want to stick to Jeonghan’s finger, no matter how he tried.
“Baby, I can’t keep doing this. One more try and then I feel like we need to consult a specialist”, Jeonhan mumbled, sounding devastated. By that time, Wonwoo was so exhausted that he couldn’t care less. Did he want to go to the hospital? Obviously not. But if it put him out of misery he could do it.
“I’m sorry.”
Suddenly faced with the very real possibility of going to the ER and getting prodded by doctors and nurses and especially with having to drive there, Wonwoo did not want that. “Can you try one more time, hyung?”
“One last time, baby”, Jeonghan agreed, “breathe.”
Wonwoo closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “Do it.”
Jeonghan’s finger made contact with his eye. A cheer. Congratulations. Words spoken in kindness and comfort. Wonwoo just closed his eyes and let the tears fall again. Seungcheol turned Wonwoo so that he was laying on his stomach, on top of his leader who was rubbing his back and whispering sweet nothingness.
💎
Wonwoo woke up hours later to a blanket spread over him and Seungcheol and a hand holding his. His eyes burned and hurt but not nearly as badly as before. Blinking against the low light coming from the kitchen, he found Jeonghan asleep sitting on the ground by their side, leaning back against the couch and his fingers entangled with Wonwoo’s. Somebody had placed a pillow against his neck and he looked mostly comfortable, also cuddled up under a blanket.
Minghao, holding a cup of tea, was smiling at him from the second couch. Soft clatter from the kitchen indicated Joshua and Mingyu cooking together.
Wonwoo sighed and nuzzled his face into Seungcheol’s shoulder. He was cozy like this.
(It’s okay, again)

Our Chaos
Fandom: Seventeen
Sickie: Everyone but the Maknae Line (flu)
Caregiver(s): Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino
Word Count: 1,633
It wasn’t often that all of Seventeen took sick at the same time. Despite living in such close quarters, being naturally cuddly people with little regard for personal space, and having to squeeze in pre-show spaces meant for significantly less people, the members were highly skilled at self-isolating and taking care of themselves as needed when they didn’t feel well, especially if they were in comeback or concert season. Things usually just… worked out.
But ‘often’ and ‘usually’ were not a guarantee.
“Woozi’s trying to escape again!” Chan called from the upstairs landing. Hansol turned around, quick as lightning, just in time to catch Jihoon groan in frustration right at the base of the stairs. Seungkwan also slid into the doorframe from the laundry room, pointing a finger at Jihoon to double down on Chan’s tattling.
“Am not!” Jihoon’s croaky voice shot back.
Hansol arched one eyebrow. “Then why do you have one shoe on, hm?”
Jihoon looked at his feet, seeing he did, in fact, only have one shoe on. “Well fuck me, then.”
“See, that’s how I know you’re sick: my question, it made no sense, but you gave yourself up anyway.”
Jihoon’s eyes narrowed. The effect was entirely ruined by his influenza-flushed face. “I hate you.” His gaze shifted between the pair. “Both of you.”
Seungkwan smirked. “You don’t.” He nodded towards the den. “Back to the couch.” Jihoon grumbled under his breath, likely things he’d be apologizing later despite neither Hansol nor Seungkwan not fully hearing him. Hansol sighed, shaking his head as he turned back to the pot on the stove, bubbling with homemade soup.
They’d been home for an hour. One hour. And things had already been chaos.
The only members who had been seemingly spared from the flu from hell were the three maknaes. And management had insisted that the three of them come into the studio for part of the day, claiming that they could still make content, and, as one representative from each unit, help plan some of the group’s upcoming activities. Seungcheol had encouraged them to go, claiming that he, Jeonghan, and Joshua could collectively hold down the fort while they were gone, despite the fact that the three eldest had gotten sick most recently and were definitely feeling the more worse for wear at the moment.
Still, they couldn’t say no to Seungcheol. They’d gone to the studio. And come home to chaos.
Seungkwan had opened the door on a scene straight out of a horror movie. The entire living room was a cacophony of yelling, with Seokmin in the center of the storm, perched on the coffee table with a cartoonish pout on his face, and blood leaking from a cut on his forehead. Mingyu and Minghao and Soonyoung were all pacing around the room, the main sources of the yelling, while Wonwoo observed and commented from the recliner. Seungkwan had immediately rushed in while Hansol had gone for the first aid kit. The cut had been the result of Seokmin standing up too fast, blacking out from a rush of vertigo, and hitting his head on the coffee table.
It thankfully hadn’t taken more than a bandaid and a few hugs to get him to calm down.
So now they’d divided tasks to conquer the most area: Hansol was making dinner, Seungkwan was attending to chores, and Chan was sent on reconnaissance to locate the rest of the members.
The easiest to locate had been Junhei, who had been in the living room all along, fast asleep on the smaller couch, the back of which faced the door so his sleeping frame had been hidden from the maknaes upon entry. Minghao informed Chan that Jun hadn’t been able to keep his eyes open for longer than 15 minutes, drifting in and out of sleep faster than was legal (Minghao’s exact words.) Chan was just happy that at least one of his useless hyung’s was getting the rest he needed.
Once upstairs, Chan started by knocking on the closed bathroom door, getting a response from Jihoon, who confirmed he was just getting out of the shower and not actively puking. Chan then checked Seungcheol’s room, where the 95 line usually congregated, but found it empty. Same with Jeonghan’s. Thoroughly baffled, Chan opened the door to Joshua’s room just enough to peek his head inside. All three members of the 95 line were snuggled together in Joshua’s bed, which was an uncharacteristic event. Usually, they could be found in Seungcheol’s room. Chan later learned, through a harrowing tale as narrated by a semi-delirious Soonyoung, that the trio had had to move to Joshua’s room after Jeonghan had thrown up in Seungcheol’s bed (and this after the same thing happening in his own bed). Soonyoung and Wonwoo had attempted laundry, but hadn’t been entirely successful (another fun adventure Seungkwan and Chan had dealt with upon arriving home, leaving the squeamish Vernon out of that picnic).
So here the three eldest were in Joshua’s smaller bed, Jeonghan on the end, passed out on his left side, gripping a plastic bowl as if it were a stuffed animal. Seungcheol was sandwiched in the middle, his arms around Joshua’s waist while the latter’s arms were thrown around Seungcheol’s neck. And while they looked absolutely adorable, Chan couldn’t help the tug in his chest at just how exhausted and sick they all looked. The day had to have been hard on them, caring for the rest of the members while so ill themselves. Chan knew for a fact they’d had little help; Soonyoung and Wonwoo had likely done their best, but he knew that poor Junhei couldn’t stay awake long enough to be of any assistance, and Jihoon had certainly been too busy planning his escape.
Regardless, Chan was glad they were asleep now.
“Cheollie, Hannie, and Shua are asleep in Shua’s room,” Chan reported when he returned to the main level.
“Hao’s on the couch. Gyu’s on the couch. Seokmin’s on the couch,” Seungkwan began reciting, peeking over at the den. “Wonwoo’s on the recliner. Hoshi’s on the other couch with Junnie.”
“And Jihoon’s trapped with him,” Hansol finished.
“Fuck you,” the producer said back, raising his voice just enough to be heard and to make him cough roughly.
“Love you too,” Hansol chirped back. “Also, dinner’s almost ready. I think?” He peered questioningly down at the pot in front of him. Seungkwan moved to the kitchen to check with him.
“Want me to take a look?” Mingyu asked, moving to stand up. Just the motion of leaning forward had him blinking stars from his eyes, something that did not go unnoticed.
“No, Gyu, we got it covered,” Seungkwan reassured him, holding up a hand. “It’s not like majority of you can taste it anyway…”
“But still…”
“Hey Mingyu, you’re gonna sit your ass right down cause we will not be scraping you up off the floor if you pass out,” Hansol replied, his tone carrying order. He snapped his fingers at Jun and Wonwoo, despite Jun being dead asleep and Wonwoo almost there. “That goes for you too, 1.82 meter crew.”
“That feels discriminatory…” Wonwoo muttered.
“Be less tall, then,” Jihoon retorted.
“Does that mean Jihoonie gets to pass out cause he’s short?” Mingyu asked, his voice so genuine that Hansol fought the urge to laugh at the question.
“Sure.”
“Jihoonie, you need to take advantage of your privileges,” Minghao slurred, tapping Jihoon’s knee in earnest.
“I like you better when you’re asleep.”
“Me too,” Minghao replied, flopping back against the couch.
As their bickering continued, Chan’s eyes surveyed the room, landing on Soonyoung. The dancer leader had moved to sit with Junhei, propping the elder man’s head up in his lap and playing with his hair. Chan slipped towards them, sitting on the arm of the couch behind his unit leader.
“Hey,” Chan whispered.
Soonyoung tipped his head back and smiled. “Hey, bug. What’s up?”
“Just checking on you. You’re uncharacteristically quiet.”
“Well my throat uncharacteristically hurts.” He sniffled once before pitching forward with a nearly stifled sneeze, careful not to jostle Jun too much.
“Bless you.” Chan’s fingers carded through his hair.
“Thanks.”
“Really, though, how are you?”
Soonyoung shrugged. “I feel like shit. My entire body aches, I can’t breathe right, and I haven’t been able to fall asleep all day. Normal flu stuff, you know?” He tipped his head back again to look at Chan, a crooked smile on his lips. Soonyoung’s joking grin quickly faded when he saw tears in his maknae’s eyes. “Channie, what’s wrong?”
“There’s just…” A tear slipped from Chan’s eye, and he laughed incredulously, “nothing I can do for you.” He held up empty hands.
“Baby…” Soonyoung held out his hand. Chan took it, another tear escaping as he felt Soonyoung squeeze hard. “You being here is enough. You, and Sollie, and Kwannie… you caring enough to be here means everything. You are doing everything you can for us, and we love you for it.”
“He’s right, bug.” Chan’s eyes snapped up to meet Seokmin’s. Actually, everyone’s attention was on him now. “I know you’re probably super overwhelmed right now…”
“Kwannie, Sollie, you too,” Wonwoo added, looking over at the other two members who had most definitely tuned into the conversation.
“But you’re doing great,” Seokmin finished, smiling, tired but bright. “We appreciate you three so much more than we could ever say.” “And we aren’t the easiest patients, that’s for sure,” Mingyu added.
“Speak for yourself,” Jihoon muttered.
“No, he speaks for YOURSELF,” Minghao replied, leaning against Jihoon’s shoulder, from which he was brusquely shoved off with all the strength the sickly produce could muster. Chan laughed, and Soonyoung squeezed his hand. Maybe things would turn out all right after all.

which svt boy is the type of boyfriend with whom you can turn your brain off with | ot13
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
. . . most to least likely
Tumblr media
1 . . . seungcheol
i don’t think anyone is surprised that choi seungcheol is the number one. you wouldn’t have to think AT ALL ever again with him, like come on - he’s big, buffy and dependable (jeonghan’s words, not mine). knowing him, he’d get offended if you tried to “think” - looking out for you, and taking care of you is his number one priority in life. i mean it, it’s his life mission.
2 . . . mingyu
husband material number two, he’s equally fixated on looking out for you as cheol. there is nothing that could distract mingyu from you, your well-being, and safety. the type to walk on the outer side of the sidewalk, and always holding your hand when crossing the road. not a single one of your brain cells would have to be active when he’d be around.
3 . . . joshua
the third husband coded man of svt. no matter how distracted you’d get, joshua would be there right by your side to make sure you wouldn’t hurt yourself or get lost if you were out on the town. there would be no need for you to be aware of anything, thanks to your lovely boyfriend. and it’d all come so naturally for him - he wouldn’t even have to think about it.
4 . . . minghao
hao, our silent and attentive boy that looks out for you, no matter what, would always make sure you’re taken care of, to the point where you wouldn’t really have to think around him. you could do whatever, and minghao would have no problem with protecting you from anything that could hurt you. he’s just so aware of you, and your presence.
5 . . . jeonghan
similar to mingaho in the sense that you don’t even realise that you’re not really “thinking” when you’re with him. even before you started dating he was always such a caretaker that it doesn’t really surprise anyone when you mindlessly follow jeonghan everywhere without a single care in the world.
6 . . . wonwoo
wonwoo is everything you could ask for - he is handsome, smart, funny, and most importantly he always makes sure you’re happy, well fed, and safe. he is ready to change a light bulb, make you dinner (even though he can’t cook for shit), pick you up after a party, and pack you lunch before school/work. the best part out of all of this is that you never have to ask for any of this - he just knows when you need him, so why do you need to think when your boyfie is always there for you
7 . . . woozi
woozi is kind of the middle ground between those who are excellent at taking care of you, and those who try their best, but are too easily distracted, or just prefer to be the ones taken care of. jihoon is always there for you, no matter what (obviously), but sometimes he can get a bit distracted, so you’d still have to be aware of your surroundings when out and about, or you’d have to check his luggage before a trip to make sure he packed his toothbrush.
8 . . . chan
a very observant lil bub that always keeps an eye on you. no matter how much you try to convince him you are good on your own, he still takes care of you in every way he can, and with time (you didn’t even realise when) you started to shut your brain off more and more when with your boyfriend. and come on, it makes him so happy when you depend on him, he loves when you grab his hand the second you exit the car, ready to trust your boyfriend with everything and anything.
9 . . . dk
does a pretty good job as being the “thinker” until something doesn't distract him, and because he is easily distracted, well… he is a cutie pie, though, and very obedient, so he will gladly follow you everywhere without much nagging so looking after him isn’t as hard as looking out for hoshi or vernon. there is one situation when you can definitely shut your brain off, and it’s in crowded places, because there is no way dk will let anything happen to you in a crowd.
10 . . . seungkwan
poor baby really tries to take care of you so can confidently shut your brain off with him, but at the end of the day your relationship is very 50/50… okay, more like 30/70 because usually it’s you who has to think about everything. seungkwan still tries to help you out as much as he can, he doesn’t want to be a burden to you, but sometimes he’s just so easily distracted or oblivious to what is happening around him.
11 . . . jun
easily distracted, manipulated, puts himself in dangerous situations on a daily basis, and has the tendency to wander off like a kindergarten kid, so naturally he’s the one to shut his brain off with you. looking after him can be quite tricky sometimes, he has his rebel moments when he want to make your life a living hell by worrying the shit out of you, but the second he sees you getting really stressed he gets back to his polite, and cute self.
12 . . . hoshi
this poor boy would get distracted so easily, you’d have to think for him. if you were out, hoshi would be the one to wander off, or not see the incoming car and almost getting hit by it - you’d have to be the one to save him from everything. it doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about you, but he’s a kid at heart that needs to be the protected one.
13 . . . vernon
same as hoshi, you need to be alert 24/7 with vernon. distracted easily, and does not understand the concept of dangerous situations - you’d definitely have to be the “thinker” in your relationship. like, if you were going on a trip you’d be the person that plans everything, is in charge of the maps, food, packing clothes, and vernon would be the one to venmo you money.

seungcheol -
he'd feel a little intimidated by you, feeling like maybe his ideal role as 'the dependable boyfriend' was being threatened by the simple fact that you were a few years older than him. however, as long as you let him take care of you in every way he'd wanna take care of an s/o, he would not mind an age gap at all.
jeonghan -
even though i dont think he'd be against having an older s/o, he gives me the vibe that maybe he'd prefer someone younger (?) he seems to like babying people, BUT if you were to be older and still allow him to take that nurturing and caretaking role in the relationship then he would not care about any age difference.
joshua -
man does he love himself a milf. okay, but seriously, i dont think he'd care whether or not you were older than him. he would actually enjoy knowing you were older and had already gone through life experiences he was yet to reach himself. he'd treat you like anyone his age, but would feel reassured knowing he could lean on you a little more.
jun -
his overly youthful and sometimes kiddish (/pos!!) personality would be perfectly balanced out by someone older and maybe more mature. other than that, i dont think he'd really feel any type of way about his s/o being older than him. he'd simply think that a good match is a good match and that was that.
soonyoung -
could not care less for your age. he probably didnt even ask for your age until your birthday approached. it'd likely make him excited actually. just something about dating someone a bit more experienced than him would keep him interested and on his toes. would tease you about it sometimes, though (even if you had a very small age difference).
wonwoo -
he'd find it really easy to get along with you. he'd enjoy the change of pace whenever he was around you – unlike when he was surrounded by his 20 (give or take) year old friends. due to you being older (and him nearing his 30's), he'd be a little quicker to wanting to settle down with you.
jihoon -
i think he would enjoy being with someone older since to him age may imply wisdom. he's very mature for his age and has always had to bare the responsibility of seventeen's success, which has probably made him age ten extra years ahead of time. he would easily meet your maturity level and be eye to eye with you in that aspect.
seokmin -
can't help but be reminded of yewon noona lmao. just based off that i assume seokmin might be into (or might just be indifferent) having an older s/o. seokmin has too much love and pureness in his heart to ever consider age to be a factor to consider when falling in love. however, due to his youthful personality, it wouldn't surprise me if he was into someone with a bit more life experience.
mingyu -
gives me vibes that he'd be into milfs. idk he's just so handsome and charming and outgoing that i think older women probably fall for him super easily. regardless of gender i think that if mingyu was into someone older than him he'd just go for it. he's mature and old enough to appreciate a relationship despite of age.
minghao -
oh you're older than him? cool. would not even consider it a decisive factor when it comes to looking for an s/o. to him, love was love, which meant that your age didnt matter much to him. it'd actually be nice to date someone who had more life experience than him. he'd seek wisdom from you whenever he felt like he needed it, hoping to learn from you while also sharing some of his own.
seungkwan -
previous evidence (him being bffs with everyone in the industry regardless of age) convinces me that he has a really easy time charming people who are older than him. it'd make him feel good to know that his his youthful charisma could get anyone to fall for him.
vernon -
another member who would not care nor consider your age. would probably even forget about it after being told your age. were you older? cool. were you slightly younger? equally as cool. has no preference nor defined opinion as to whether he prefers a younger or older s/o.
chan -
he's probably already used to being surrounded by people older than him, not only with being the maknae to such a large group but also due to being surrounded by staff members and other idols who were likely also a bit older than him. he'd enjoy the sense of calm an older s/o would bring him. there would be familiarity that he would feel in the dynamic between the two of you.

How hiphop unit would react to someone crying after an orgasm?
Tumblr media
seungcheol: on one hand, he feels full of pride and knows that he's the main cause of the crying. he has a smirk on his face also, but he feels slightly bad that you're crying and he goes into full caretaker mode, just looking after you until you can form sentences again
wonwoo: is slightly panicked and doesn't know what to do, he's not sure if you're crying out of pleasure or out of pain or some other reason, so he just swoops you into his arms and holds you until you're comfortable enough to talk again and only then does his panic fade
mingyu: this man would not know what to do omg he'd probably start crying with you, his body is still horny and his dick is rock hard but he doesn't know how to react so...he does what he does best and communicates with his dick. would tease your entrance to see if you are just overstimulated with pleasure and that's why you're crying
vernon: "are you okay did I hurt you?" he would be rushing to get you a towel, some water and snacks because he feels horrible about the fact he might've hurt you. hed spend hours snuggling with you just to make sure you're okay and makes sure to thoroughly communicate with you
