yesterday friend asked if mom would consider selling our house to her, immediately after telling me how in debt she was and what little she'd be left with after selling her house. and then went, 'oh. but where would you go?' and it's so so funny because she knows how dire the rental situation is around here, and the housing situation. she's basically subscribed to all the realtor websites and knows when anything goes up for sale and how wild the prices are. she also knows we're just about as bad off as she is with money. I just looked at the local-ish rentals and the cheapest is $1600 for a studio. we're living off of $1300 currently. total. me with no job and my sick mom and our four cats. and the storage unit in florida we have to keep paying for and presumably the second one we'd need here to empty the house. where the fuck would we go indeed.

Glad to be picking up the car tomorrow. Not glad it's still broken. Glad I can still drive it and hopefully get it fixed. On the fence about the rental situation because the rental has grown on me and I will miss feeling cool when I drive around. Not glad that once the car is in my possession again I have to start calling auto body shops to get estimates.

have been absolutely stressing about pulling off 2ourdust pittsburgh for a week straight, even moreso post-albany, but i am feeling a little better now because

this got announced!!! and as a western new yorker it is even closer to me than pittsburgh yippee!!! and also i have a few months to figure out how i am getting there! also jimmy are still here! + dashboard and the maine!!

fucking hell

so here i am in another city on the other side of the country

rented a car from a major agency (avis, fuck'em)

think it's strange when i pick it up that there's no keyfob but w/e the key starts the car

got to the lodgings forgot to lock the car because i don't lock the car at home so

when we went out to dinner and i locked the car, went out to open the car for a late arrival in our party to drop her suitcase off and go back to dinner

the fucking key wouldn't open the car

sure it turned

but it was clearly not triggering anything just turning as though the lock is disconnected

i'm locked out with the key in hand

called avis they said they'd contact roadside service

didn't get a call in an hour so i call aaa

they say THREE HOURS

luckily we're at a pub

15 minutes later aaa shows up. surprised as i was about not being able to get in the car. he pries the door open and hits the lock... alarm goes off

i climbed in the car put key in the ignition and turned it, car doesn't start alarm doesn't stfu

finally idk why but alarm shuts off maybe because i was messing with the ignition or maybe manipulating the door lock from the inside of the car? who knows

so the next mystery, why doesn't the car start now?

aaa guy tried jumping the car, no good. for some reason it probably is in a security mode?

in desperation i turned the key on & off 5 times rapidly and hit buttons on the steering wheel

magically the car turned on

wtf

needless to say we didn't lock the car tonight, please someone steal it

i'm taking it back to avis tomorrow
