This still feels surreal to me. I had the opportunity to meet the one an only IMAN VELLANI aka real life Ms Marvel. ⚡️
She was literally the nicest person I've ever met. She absolutely loved the drawing I gave her (and even said she was gonna hang it on her wall😭) and she completely obsessed over the picture of my New Mutant cosplay I showed her!!!
For those who don't know I had a house fire and I was unable to wear it to meet her but someday hopefully I'll meet her again and get to show her in person!!!

I've seen a few times in Dp x DC fics when Danny is first introduced to the Justice League and meets Captain Marvel, that they both know the other is actually a kid and not an immortal being, but pretends to be old friends so as to not be outed and tricks the JL together.
Now I bring you, neither of them know the other is a kid and both Actually think the other is immortal but still somehow ends up pretending to be besties. How? Time travel.
This is their actual first meeting, but in the future, Danny will time travel back to the past and meet past Champions of Magic. Billy, as the current Champion of Magic, has inherited the knowledge of these meetings, but thinks they happened chronologically = Phantom is immortal. So he use that knowledge to bullshit his way into pretending he's been all those old Champions and greets Danny as an old friend to sell his Old as Shit act before the JL.
Danny in turn doesn't know about those past meetings but he Does know about time travel. So when Captain Marvel greets him like an old friend and start recounting their different meetings throughout history, Danny assumes he's gonna time travel and do all those things one day (accurately). But he's pretending to be immortal, not a time traveling teen, and so has to pretend that he Totally Remembers That One Time In Greece, Yup!
#dpxdc#dp x dc#dp x dc crossover#dp x dc prompt#danny will have to ask cw for more time travel assignments very quickly after this#so he has at least Some of the memories billy has and can hold up his part of the scheme without tipping anyone off that he's a child#and therefore should be in the yj

DC X DP PROMT
Now you've probably seen this too many times than you can count but
Danny phantom and Shazam bullcraping the justice league about being thousands of years old. And them genuinely believing them and going to them for advise
Danny Fenton (aka danny phantom) knew that the moment he stepped into the watchtower's meeting room he was f**ked. Atleast that's what he thought.
He had been working with the justice league for a few months now but had never been properly introduced so when he walked into the room and lay eyes upon the 'eldest' man in the room he knew that he'd have to make a plan, and quickly.
_________________________
Billy Batson (aka Shazam) knew that eventually the jig would be up amd he'd be exposed.
And he felt for certain that the eldrich God who had just walked through the door to the meeting room would be the reason it all went up in flames.
___________________________
They both tried to stall their inevitable meeting, but it was very hard considering that they were expected to interact with each other atleast once since they were both part of the justice league.
So Danny did something stupid, it was a 50/50 chance it would work. When he finally greeted Captain Marvel he immediately dove in for a hug and said "Captain! It has been much too long!"
And Billy being the desperate child he is not wanting to be outed, huged back and exchanged his pleasentries.
An understanding passed between the two when thier eyes met. Please play along

(Shot opens in Magicians Meeting Hall)
Captain Marvel: *strolls inside toward his seat and unpacks from his little satchel. Stops and greets other magic-users before pulling out notebooks and pencils*
(Cut to Billy on the couch)
Billy: So, over the weekend, I might’ve made a slightly impulsive decision
(Cut back to CM unpacking a mug that reads *#1 DAD!*)
Billy: I mean, I don’t regret it. I just wish I didn’t have to keep my identity a secret, ya know?
(Cuts to Cap smiling at the mug)
(Cuts back to Billy on the couch)
Billy: *holding a photo of Conner/Kon-El(Superboy)This is my son. Isn’t he great? He can already leap tall buildings in a single bound!
(Cuts back to Meeting Hall. Camera pans to New God Metron, swiping away at unreadable documents)
(Cuts to Metron on the couch)
Metron: It’s real. It’s all real. I don’t even…I don’t understand what is going on inside that head of his
(Cut to Satanus in the Meeting Hall, doing his damn best to not laugh)
(Cut to Satanus on the couch)
Satanus: He’s—Pfft—He’s grown up so much! I actually—Shit, I can’t wait to tell Blaze about this.
(Cuts to Blaze on the couch)
Lady Blaze: 😦
Lady Blaze: You’re kidding
(Everyone watches Marvel sip water from the mug. He stares back)
Captain Marvel: What?
Fate: Nothing. Nothing at all
Captain Marvel: You sure?
(Camera pans to Metron, still swiping)
Captain Marvel: He doesn’t look so good.
(Cuts to Billy on the couch)
Billy: he actually reminds me of my uncle after he has too much beer, but I don’t want to seem rude. I’m a dad now.
(Cuts to Satanus on the couch)
Satanus: He actually said that? No, he actually said that?
(Cuts to Billy on the couch)
Billy: I’m gonna be. The best. Dad. Ever. No other dad will dad like I dad.
(Cuts to Satanus on the couch)
Satanus: *laughing too much to be human* Please—Please don’t—Make it stop! I can’t!

Potential script idea for billy batson s radio show segment
The whizz radio intro tones-
Billy Batson then starts speaking through a slightly crackly radio as Fawcett is a city someone lost to time, given its connection to the Rock of Eternity.
---
Welcome to WHIZZ Radio: where we give the latest news, truths, and view in Fawcett City. Brought to you by your host, me, billy Batson.
Starting off with community news, make sure to visit the shrine of Atlas sometime this week with an offering. Cap mentioned that there might be a need for endurance next week, and we should all probably listen. Additional reminder, the festival of Zeus will be happening this Saturday. Stay away from odd looking geese, metal poles and don't fulfill any selfcrearting proficies in a fit of hubris.
Onto traffic!
Main Street and Fifth Avenue are both still under construction from Dr. Sivannas attack and the demon portal last Thursday and Friday. Ms. Marvel and Cap. both played a role in clearing the debris, but there are still major cracks and fissures to Hades. Expect delays.
Now the weather.
Today's forecast includes thick over cast clouds; a good time for summoning souls. Be sure to greet both the living in the dead while going about your day and don't for get that umbrella! There is a slight chance of curses with intermittent showers.
Alright! Time to quickly cover the Capes and Crooks news bulletin. Dr. Sivanna is still missing after his recent bout with Cap. Since he interrupted one of Mercury's races down at the track, no one is quite sure when the Roman god took him. If you happen to see him, please be sure to give Cap a ring to come pick him up.
Keep your eyes peeled for Mr. Mind. The worm escaped prison… again. Holy moly. You'd think they'd make better prisons for him. What is this, the fourth time in two weeks?
*Noise indistinct*
I know, I just figured that out listeners would likely have the same comment. I don't see why I shouldn't point it out of its true
*Indistinct noise again*
Alright! Fine. Moving on from that.
Today's radio broadcast is brought to you by Saturn's candy. Nothing so sweet as a stick of magic you can eat! Try their Caramel cookie candy bars, now with cooked in bloodline curse protect. If your looking for a spot of luck, try their cinnamon apply candy sticks. Saturn's candy. A proud sponsor of WHIZZ Radio!
*Little jingle*
Welcome back to the program. Time for our sister citys segment.
This reporter has just been told by his producers to issue an apology to Black Adam for statements said during this segment of yesterday's broadcast.
*An aside*
Do I have too?
*Indistinct noise*
Fine.
I am. Sorry. For calling you a craized up old fart with too much free time.
There.
Moving on!
Kahndaq currently is continuing negotiations with both the Justice League and the UN to gain a seat at the UN table. Or be allowed in the UN room. While Fawcett recognizes Kahndaq as sovereign, the rest of the world stills sees the country as illegitimate.
Aside from tense meetings, and Black Adam being a kook who keeps coming to mess with Cap due to having a grudge unbecoming of a literal king and ancient man child, Kahndaq is doing fine. The economy is flourishing, despite limited imports and exports due to sanctions. The letters sent by Fawcetts finest and kindest citizens were well received and we should hear back soon if Mercury has anything to do with it.
It's time once again for Billy's opinion of the day.
This week!
Cans and their many used.
Not only do cans offer one of the best ways to have long term storable food, but they also make awesome weapons! We got to see this on Friday when Marvel Jr. and Captain Marvel went toe to toe with demons using a barrage of cans. And the food was still good to eat after the fight!! I love it when things are multi purposed. Now if only they could close the rifts down to Hades…
*Chimes*
Oh! Mercury just dropped a fresh bit of mail! Thank you Mercury! Watch out for old men wandering around. It seems like the Greek and Roman gods are looking to bless and curse some folks today.
Do good, and good will follow.
And keep an eye on the sky for lightning!
This has been Billy Batson, signing off!

Imagine if a villain was able to infiltrate Captain Marvel's mind and the Justice League had to go into his mind to save him. When they go in, they're greeted by two doors. One door is huge, made of marble and has delicate details carved in and the other is a small broken old wooden door with graffiti barely holding on to its hinges.
First, they enter the marble door and are transported into a battlefield with many of the old avatars of Shazam, all fighting monsters that seem to be trying to get to an orb of pure magic. With the help of the league, the monsters retreat for some time, but not forever. One of the past avatars tells the justice league that they need Captain Marvel to be able to stop the fight, but in order to do that, they need to find Billy Batson.
The team is sent back through the marble door to go through the wooden one. When they enter, they see a room in an abandoned building with very little inside and see a mirage of a little boy. They try to touch him but their hands go straight through, the boy starts to move to the door to leave and the team follows. They keep doing this, learning about Billy's life by going back in time to CPS meetings, foster homes, Billy's uncle's place, and finally to his family's home.
Where they see Billy's family and where Billy can see and interact with them, not as a mirage but his actual conscience. He's obviously reluctant to go, but they convince him it's what he needs to do. He goes back with them, reunited with the power where it fuses with him to create Captain Marvel and defeats the monsters, returning everything back to normal.

Billy adopting Conner is amazing and the Mr Rogers clothes thing is Hilarious!!!!!!!!!
(more please?)
“Hi, please come in!” Billy greets as cheerfully as he can, trying to look as thoroughly “not-a-superhero-but-definitely-an-adult-if-the-Justice-League-asks” as he can. It’s not like the Wests don’t know who they’re here to meet, but again: habits. Making them.
“. . . dude, is that, like . . . just how you dress when you’re not saving the world?” Kid Flash asks, eyeing him skeptically. “Seriously?”
“Oh, um, no, but I wasn’t really sure what to wear for this so I kinda just let the magic dress me?” Billy says, feeling wildly self-conscious. Oh no, Superboy is gonna think he’s lame, isn’t he. Shoot. Shit, even.
“There is literally no such thing as magic but sure, why not,” Kid Flash says dubiously.
“Wally,” Mrs. West says in exasperation. “Don't be rude, Captain Marvel is magic!”
“He is not magic, he's just like pandimensional or from a different reality or something!” Kid Flash protests indignantly.
“Wally!” Mrs. West hisses again.

In Every Mask, I See You
Bucky was in DC on Halloween. Which sucked because he'd promised Cass he'd help with the werewolf costume and all the bloody makeup. He'd gotten two sets of sad Wilson eyes when he'd face timed to let him know--from Cass and Sarah, which he hadn't understood until a few hours ago when he'd seen Sam posting about being home to take the boys trick-or-treating that year. Sarah had totally conspired to get them in the same house at the same time.
What doubly sucked was that the whole reason he was in DC and not down at a neighborhood party, watching Halloween projected on someone's garage door and stealing candy from the boys, was a super important meeting, which had ended up being canceled an hour beforehand. He hated this job.
The house he bought--and pretended like he didn't share with Sam when they were not both in DC at the same time--was in a nice enough neighborhood and the sounds of kids shrieking and laughing had started up well before dark. Bucky didn't have a costume or a kid or even a dog to justify wandering around outside, but he couldn't help himself. His chest literally ached with missing Cass and AJ, and it's not like he really wanted to stay in and watch horror movies by himself.
He threw on a baseball cap (even though his neighbors knew Bucky Barnes lived in the neighborhood) and put on a shirt with the shield on it and a jacket. It had been getting a little cooler in the evenings and he didn't want to draw more attention to himself than was necessary by flashing the metal around. Besides, he was not in the mood to hear any how the colors weren't right or the plates didn't align or whatever other inane thing people could critique a Winter Soldier costume for.
He had expected the usual fare of costumes--ghosts and zombies and princesses and whatever teenagers passed off as costumes nowadays. He had not been expecting to open his door and immediately see Captain America running down the street, shield jostling on his little back.
There were so many Sams. There were plenty of other heroes too-- Captain Marvel, Bishop and Khan, Thor, the spider kid. But by and large, Captain America had the run of the night. There were babies in shield themed onesies and kids in bought costumes and adults in fancier handmade ones. Boys, girls, young, old, all decked out in Sam's white outfit or the sleek, new, darker one he'd been wearing recently. All of the wings were pretty priceless. Everyone was trying to take off in flight.
It was a little disorienting, actually. Since Bucky had been assigned to the whole Thunderbolts bullshit and Sam had had to take on whatever fresh hell Ross concocted, they hadn't seen much of each other. Bucky had fucked that up. He usually did. It was complicated. It was stupid. He was stupid. And none of it was fair. Especially not to Sam, but not to him either when he was reminded of how good and noble and wonderful and inspiring Sam was by a hundred people in his neighborhood. He hadn't been able to so much as look at or smell or even hug Sam in months and now he was completely overwhelmed with Sam and people's love of him.
Someone tapped Bucky's hip while he stood at an intersection and greatly debated going home and going to bed. Night had fallen, but there were enough streetlights, car lights, and patio lights illuminating houses doing far more than they needed to for trick-or-treating to keep visibility fairly high. Bucky turned and found yet another Sam staring up at him. The kid couldn't have been even ten yet and he looked just about on the verge of tears, big dark eyes shining.
"Hey, Cap," Bucky greeted and then felt like he was on the verge of tears too.
"I lost my Bucky!" the kid cried and then plastered himself to Bucky's leg, just about taking out his knee in the process. "I don't know where I am!"
"Woah, woah, hey," Bucky babbled while he freed his leg and squatted down in front of him. "It's alright. We'll find him together, okay? That's what Cap and Bucky do best. Work together. Do you live in this neighborhood?"
The boy looked at him again, tiny fingers twisting in Bucky's jacket sleeve fretfully. "I'm not supposed to tell strangers where I live."
Fair enough, but deeply unhelpful. "You know me," Bucky cajoled. "I'm Bucky. I'm Captain America's best friend right? If you want, I can call him and you can tell him where you live." And wouldn't Sam love that. Bucky using a lost kid as an excuse to call. But desperate times and all that.
The boy's eyes alit for a split second before his whole face shuttered in embarrassment. "No! I don't want Captain America to know I'm lost." He let go of Bucky's sleeve only long enough for it to unwind so he could twist it in the other direction. "I live on Oak Drive. But we weren't anywhere near my house."
"Well, do you know where you last saw your Bucky?" Bucky asked. "This is Magnolia Lane.
Captain America's lips trembled. "No. There was a big Frankenstein in the yard."
Bucky had not seen a big Frankenstein yet this evening. "Hey, buddy, can I see your shield for a second?" he asked.
It was hurriedly handed off and Bucky checked down the back of it and across the straps until he found a piece of masking tape with a sharpie'd phone number on it. He grinned, pleased with himself. Sarah had done the same thing a few years ago when AJ had been Sam.
"Is this your mom's number?" he asked, looking up at the boy, whose eyes went wide.
"Oh! Yeah!"
"Is she with your friend?"
"Yeah! Can you call her?"
Bucky could do that. "C'mere, little bird," he said, holding his arm out so he could lift the boy when he stood and hold him on his hip. "You can have this back," he added, handing off the shield. "Go ahead and tell me what that number is." He pulled out his phone and typed in the number as Cap read it off to him.
The line barely rang once before a worried voice answered, "Andre?"
"Uh," Bucky said unhelpfully. "Is your name Andre?" he asked the Captain America pinching the corner of his jacket collar now. The boy nodded. "Yeah, this is Bucky Barnes. I've got your Captain Andre," Bucky said. "He was helping me cross the road. Real Captain America stuff. Helping an old guy out. Can I return the favor and help him back to you? We're at Magnolia and Deer Ridge."
The mother on the other end of the line told Bucky where she was without nearly as much babbling as Bucky had provided. They were only one street over from each other. Bucky let himself be thankful for that, especially when Andre started to explain to Bucky why he was Captain America and his friend, Dylan, was Bucky. It did not seem to matter that it was Bucky holding him when it came time to explain that Andre was the better action star, but don't tell Dylan. Also Dylan had blue eyes.
"Dre?!" someone called before Bucky had spotted a worried mom. Then yet another little guy was trying to take Bucky off of his feet by way of his knees.
"Wait, wait, wait!" Bucky cried, putting a hand down to slow down the racing kid. He let himself glance over the Winter Soldier costume. It had had the silver arm, but someone had gone in and tried to recolor it. Which was kind of cute. "I'm gonna drop Cap. His wings are faulty right now."
The tiny Winter Soldier stared up at him, a hard set to his jaw that was kind of familiar. He could understand how he got relegated to playing Bucky. "Don't. Are you okay?" Dylan asked.
Bucky almost responded, but Andre, reasonably, beat him to it. "Yeah. I found another Bucky," he said. He let go of Bucky's collar and hopped out of Bucky's hold when he was close enough to the ground as Bucky squatted down again.
Dylan put his hand on Andre's shoulder solemnly, then they tucked into a half hug that quickly turned into a brawl when Dylan tried to snatch the shield away.
Bucky kept half an eye on them, ready to pull them back from the street, even though it seemed like this street had been blocked off for traffic. When a woman hurried over, he felt some of his anxiety bleed out of his shoulders, but a new wave of social anxiety took its place.
"Thank you!" she sighed as she caught up to the boys and stood a few steps from Bucky. She was younger than he was expecting and dressed like a 50s ad. He could see Andre's features in her face plainly. She took a second to look over him and her eyebrows rose a little. "Oh, wow, you're actually Bucky Barnes. I thought you meant you were dressed up."
Bucky scratched the back of his neck. "Yeah. He recognized me, so I guess I was safe enough to ask for help."
"Yeah. It's kind of weird to be able to tell your kids they can ask superheroes for help if they need. Got any sugar I can borrow, neighbor?" she joked, then cringed at herself. "Is, uh, Cap around?"
"Oh, uh, no," Bucky admitted, cheeks reddening. People still expected them to be connected at the hip, even though they were never in the house together. They were never together at all anymore. "He's with his family down south."
"Why aren't you too then?" she asked.
Bucky's cheeks warmed even more. He could feel it scorching down to the bone. "Well it's his family, y'know. And I had to work, so. "
The woman's brows knit towards each other a little. She looked over at the boys still roughhousing with the plastic shield. "You know, they'd call each other family," she said slowly, measuring her words. "Those two are such a handful. They'd rather be in trouble together than out of trouble alone. They get antsy if they can't see each other."
Bucky snorted. "Yeah, I know how that goes."
She shrugged. "I'm just saying, I can guarantee Dre was more concerned with getting back to Dylan than to me."
"Well, Cap shouldn't be without his Bucky," Bucky said before the words actually sank in. The blush erupted into flames. He needed to go climb a tree and sit in it for a few days.
"Yeah," she agreed with a grin. "I think that's right. Boys!" she called. The roughhousing calmed and they both turned to look at her expectantly. More candy imminent in their future. "Would you mind a picture?" she asked Bucky.
"No," Bucky said quickly. "I love taking pictures with celebrities," he said louder for the boys to hear.
They beamed at each other, ran over in a race, and attached to his knees again.
Once the pictures were taken care of--Bucky even asked for one on his phone--he retreated from the thick of the party, towards a house with all of its lights cut and the only decorations ghosts drifting in the breeze on invisible strings. He pulled out his phone, faced the tree trunk, and dialed Sam's number.
He wasn't exactly surprised when Sam didn't answer. Kind of disappointed. Kind of relieved. When the answering machine picked up, he took in a shaky breath and said, "Hey, Sammy, it's Buck," exactly the way he knew Sam would make fun of him for. What else is the Caller ID for, Buck? "I just wanted to say I miss you. Like, so much. I don't... I don't wanna be doing this without you. I kind of hate it without you, actually. I've always hated it. You know that. But with you, it means something. I felt like I was doing the right thing if you were next to me. But now I don't have that and it feels bad. Everything is bad and wrong and I just miss you so much. God, it's so obvious Buckys shouldn't be without their Caps and I'm the first example of that. The worst example. I don't even wanna watch scary mov--"
The machine cut him off and he dialed Sam's number again instantly. It went to voicemail again, but it rang all the way through, so it's not likely Sam was ignoring him. It was much more likely he'd turned the noise off on his phone to focus on the boys.
"How come spam calls can leave ten minute voicemails but I barely get two minutes, huh?" he asked Sam's voicemail when it clicked through. "Listen, I just want to say it again. I miss you. And when you feel up for it, call me back. Maybe I can dig myself out of this one. I just need to come home to you again. Love you. I mean...shit. Just. Whatever. Miss you, Sam."
Bucky really considered climbing the tree. But it wasn't his tree. He beelined back for his house (there was a giant Frankenstein on Moss Lane that he had to pass again). He'd never been so happy to close the door and block out most of the noise of the neighborhood.
By the time he was dragging himself into bed half an hour later, a text buzzed in. He opened it as he plugged in his phone. It was a picture of Sam, surrounded by about as many Captains America as Bucky had seen, and a fair few Winter Soldiers too.
You're grumpy at every age, btw.
Okay, yeah, I miss you too.
You in DC? I'll see you soon.
Like tomorrow.
Love you too, old man.
Bucky let out a long breath and dropped himself across the bed. Finally, whoever he had been pretending to be fell off of him, like a bad mask. Bucky Barnes settled back into his bones.
How'd the werewolf turn out? What did AJ decide to do this year? He hadn't picked last time I called.
Hey, when you get home, do you wanna call? We can watch that new witch demon haunted house movie on Netflix together.
And maybe he did thrill when a text came in almost immediately. And he answered immediately again.
"Trick or treat?" Sam asked later that night, both of them half asleep on their respective couches, another shitty horror movie starting up on the autoplay.
"Treat," Bucky answered into the throw pillow Sam had bought.
"I still miss you."
"What was the trick?"
"I dunno. Making you fall asleep finally. What would your trick be?"
"Probably making you fall in love with me."
"I dunno, Buck. Seems like a lot of people dig us being together. Can't be such a bad idea."
"Yeah," Bucky agreed. "Buckys belong with their Cap. I dunno how I messed that one up so damn bad."
"Yeah, I think Cap needs his Bucky too," Sam laughed.
"Trick or treat, Sam?"
"Treat."
"I love you."
And if Sam answered, Bucky didn't hear it as he fell asleep easy to the sound of Sam's breathing.

Beyond the Bookshelves (4)
Pairing: Loki x Reader
Warnings: When you want to read but the universe won't allow it, Loki is deep in the delulu and that's ok, Thor's golden retriever energy to Loki's prickly cat vibes, work stress, how to meet with royalty, tiny midgardian vs giant asgardians,
Summary: You’re a Resource Management Specialist at S.H.I.E.L.D. normally referred to as “The Librarian”. You’ve been assigned the nightmarish task of digitizing all the physical resources currently owned by the agency, with a few new computers and one extra helper.
A/N: The power of acetaminophen, water, proper food, and actual oxygen to my brain is what made this chapter possible! Thank you for patiently waiting, I hope you enjoy it!
Please comment/like/reblog. If you’d like to be tagged moving forward, please let me know! (If I missed ant tags, please let me know, I'll add you right away!)
The lovely banners used in this fic are from @cafekitsune.
If you’re new to the story, please check out the master post for the rest of the chapters.
Agent Pruyn is not so fond of me, much like many of the others. The bird and spider were quick to support my plan, though. I was not expecting help from anyone, but I suppose they’re wise enough to see that I know my strengths and have proven myself to be an asset in more ways than one. Loki walked into the library as per usual, ready to welcome the silent comfort it would bring. Sadly, that silence was not to be had with the sound of not one, but two voices. It’s that blasted chatty Captain Star. He is bound to try to strike up conversation again and ask unnecessary questions pertaining to how I feel and how I am adjusting. Loki quickly looked around for a potential escape route that would avoid meeting him and get him quickly to his usual corner. He knew he could easily teleport himself from one spot to the next. However, he already had been given an earful by said star-spangled leader about how it was ‘rude to vanish in the middle of a conversation’ and how ‘he should minimize his magic use to me more approachable’. To avoid a repeat of that, Loki simply avoided using it whenever Captain Lectures was not around.
It was the second voice that surprised him. A familiar voice that reminded him of a subtle force and scattered papers. The very same voice that said the owner thought he was a mute for never speaking to her. Which is utterly preposterous. I have spoken plenty of times between invading the Earth, addressing the public, and working with S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers. It’s not as if she’s gone out of her way to greet me either, where would she even begin to conceive such a notion on her own? He frowned, trying to recall all the times he had been to the library. She only ever interacted with him in a professional capacity. Watching the two walk in the opposite direction of his intended destination, he breathed a small sigh of relief and quickly made his way to the table that always had a book waiting for him to read. The Metal-Man’s technology is quite fascinating. He marveled at the new book that awaited his arrival. Picking it up, he sat back into the plush seating and began to read.
At least, he tried to read. The loud voices of the other two kept interrupting, and he was unable to properly get into the mindset of losing himself in the text. Each time he thought they were done, it seemed to start back up, which irked him. The first two times were mere chance, but for it to happen repeatedly had to be intentional. The only problem was proof. They could not see him, nor could he see them.
You are overthinking, Loki. It’s because of that petty agent that you’re now thinking everyone is out to trouble you. You’ve never had trouble in the library before, why would it start now? If anything, that woman’s chatter is keeping Commander Shield busy and away from you. It’s a blessing in disguise. He reminded himself. He listened to the two prattle on for a little longer, not really paying the content any mind; he simply was waiting for the conversation to end so he could peacefully begin to read. And just it did, he wiggled back into his seat and opened the book once more. He snapped it shut and sat up in his seat. She is the librarian?! “That woman is the one Agent Hill was referring? Why would they assume I’m acquainted with someone like her? We’ve hardly ever spoken to one another, but clearly that is not my fault. She’s perfectly chatty with Officer Gabby over there.” He muttered to himself. There was a slight sting in his chest at this fact. Even in his sanctuary, he was facing prejudice. Why should her lack of conversing with me matter otherwise? Thor has the ability of AllSpeak, he can assist her. I have my mission to attend to, tomo-, he frowned. His mission was postponed while Thor was still set to go. That meant that he was the only available translator. “No matter, she is to approach us first, as per Agent Hill. Why should I go out my way for her when she has done little for me?” He continued to grumble to himself, propping an elbow on one of the arms of the chair and resting his cheek into the hand as he resumed the book once more.
The chime of his phone was the one to shatter the moment this time around. He closed the book once more and returned to the table. Taking a few deep breaths, he pulled the horrid device from his pocket and glared at it.
How anyone finds having such a thing with you at all times as practical or essential is beyond me. It’s a metal leash where anyone and everyone can disturb you at their whim without a care of whether you are available to be bothered. Though he found the various things it could do fascinating, in the end it was still a means to dealing with people around the clock, and he disliked the idea greatly. The device lit up and chimed again, as if it knew he was looking at it. Frustrated, he tapped the screen awake and used his fingerprint to unlock it. Now where are these notifications, again, ah, yes, up here! He carefully navigated his way towards an email thread which looked to be between himself, Thor, Agent Hill, and Director Fury in reference to the translation project. “So she isn’t as scatterbrained as she seemed. She looked into our schedules to make sure we had time to meet and made it a time both could be present instead of having multiple meetings.” He mumbled. He scrolled lower to see Thor’s reply, agreeing to the time. Loki quickly responded as well, agreeing as well, but also requesting where she intended for them to meet. Satisfied, he tossed the phone lightly onto the table and picked up the book once more. Now everything was set and he could finally read in peace.
Y/N was surprised to see a response from either of the princes so soon, but was all the more grateful for it since their meeting was last minute. Leaning back in her computer chair, it tilted back silently, as she swiveled side-to-side The location to meet had to be easier for them to reach and still make it to their next appointments.
The cafeteria will be pretty busy around then and to head up to their lounge area is a bit much. Plus, the Avengers might be there, and I don’t want to impede on their downtime by talking about work things. They might have too many questions or the topic might get lost through distraction. I can’t really leave the library for too long, either. The daily meetings are one thing, but trying to get to some place and back would be a waste of time. I suppose the only proper place would be here at the library. I can close it for about thirty or so minutes for my lunch. She hummed to herself, trying to see if this was a beneficial spot for everyone. “Loki already comes here, so I doubt he’ll be against it. Thor has been here from time to time as well, so he’s not completely unaware of this location. The training hall is not too far from here either, so neither of them will be late for that. Alright, sounds good!” She sat up in her seat, the chair springing up and rolling forward into her desk. She quickly sent out the reply of time and location, with a small sign-off stating that she looked forward to speaking with them. Now that that’s done, one teensy weensy problem, how do I talk to alien princes?! Royal etiquette training was not including in my onboarding training! “And one of them hates me, so the brother is obviously going to hate me by defaults, right? Sibling solidarity and all that good stuff?” She lightly slammed her head on to her desk. “I didn’t expect ‘hated by alien princes’ on this year’s bingo card, let alone checking it off!” She let out a heavy sigh of defeat. “It won’t be that bad, right?”
It was that bad. It was straight up awkward from the moment the two of them walked into the library, together. Both were tall, handsome, and very intimidating in their own ways. She knew all this, and yet seeing them together made her feel like a Lilliputian in front of not one, but two, Gullivers!
“Thank you for coming on such short notice, please, let’s take a seat over here.” She pointed towards some tables to her right and led them over. She motioned for them to take their seats and waited for them to sit before taking her own seat. Those of higher status are usually seated first, I’m sure this will help ease the tension, right? “Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Y/N Y/LN. I am the director of the Resource Management department of S.H.I.E.L.D. As per my email, I’ve asked for your time to discuss how to best work together on the task of translation.” See, you got this! Play it cool, like any other board of directors meeting!
“Yes, Agent Hill spoke with us about this matter. We would love to be of assistance to you in any way we can.” Thor smiled, the brightness comforting Y/N to feel less tense. He certainly had the charisma to be a well liked leader, if his smile was enough to ease up the tension. “But as you’re aware, we are Avengers and are sent off on missions globally for many days at a time.”
“Yes, I am aware, and I can’t thank you enough for allotting some of your free time to assist me in this matter. The archives are one of the greatest things we have. There are texts here from all around the universe that are still unknown to many of our agents. The goal is to have all of them scanned into digital copies and have translated copies as well to allow easier access between all of our locations and even allow access to the Avengers while on their missions. It’s a very difficult task that requires many people, but S.H.I.E.L.D. does not have the means to hire so many for such a task and risk someone leaking the information, nor can it sacrifice the agents on staff who are needed for the missions and risk the safety of the people because they pulled people. I, and my department, along with your help, will be working on this task.”
“We are both due to depart by week’s end, but once we return, we will gladly assist you, right brother?” Thor turned to Loki, who had been silent throughout this entire time.
I’m guessing Mr. Thor doesn’t hate me? But Mr. Loki clearly does? What did I do to be hated by him?! Did I step on his foot one time, or maybe I whacked him with a book unknowingly? I would’ve definitely noticed if I hit someone like that, right?! She racked her brain for any inkling of a clue as to why she was disliked so much by the younger prince. Is it because I called him mister? Is that not okay? I mean, I don’t see anyone else calling him ‘His Highness’ or ‘His Grace’ or ‘Lord’. Oh no, did I call him that one time and did he think I was mocking him?!
His blue eyes were trained on the Librarian the entire time. She was poised and cordial, nothing like the rushing mess he encountered days ago. She was articulate, but she was nervous. Though her face gave away nothing, her fingers were interlaced tightly with one another. There was a slight tremble in them. Thor was happily giving away his blessings and promises, while Loki was not sure, not yet. Though, the promise of secret text was rather enticing. He wondered if they had anything from the other realms.
“I am no longer due to depart, my mission has been temporarily suspended.” The words came out before the younger prince realized. Why was he given such unnecessary information? He had no intention of being roped into this useless charity work. His eyes narrowed at the genuine surprise on the Librarian, who looked hopeful, too hopeful.
“That is rare, were there complications?” Thor frowned.
“It’s not something to discuss in present company.” Loki cut the conversation short, seeing her flinch at the sharp words.
“You’re right, it’s not wise to speak so freely about such information with unauthorized people.” She readily agreed. “But if you’re no longer due to leave, would you be willing to work with me on setting up a plan on how to best work with your ability?”
“Very well,” he sighed. “We can coordinate a time for here. Perhaps later today after my training.”
“Excellent,” Thor grinned and roughly smacked Loki on the back, earning a scowl from his younger brother. “You may not know this, but my brother is one of the greatest strategists in the nine realms! He is well-educated and far more scholarly than myself. He is the best person to work with on creating a plan, and I will follow along with what you’ve decided. I will do my best to keep up with him and not drag you down.”
“You will be just as helpful, Mr. Thor. You are able to translate like he is, which is exactly what we need.” Y/N was quick to assure his easily excitable brother, earning an eye roll from the raven haired younger prince.
“Please, Director Y/LN, call us by our names. We are the ones who will be under your care throughout this undertaking. There is no need for such formalities between us.” Loki stared at his brother as he completely lost his mind.
How are we under her care if she needs us? She should be respectful of us taking the time to assist her in something the organization as a whole deems to be of the least importance!
“You don’t need to call me by title when it’s just us. Y/N or Y/LN is fine. Some just call me ‘Librarian’ as well. In official meetings with other directors you’ll need to abide by rules, but between us, I’m not all that strict with it. I mean, you’re the ones doing the dangerous work. I think that alone deserves respect.” Her words stunned Loki.
“Even me?” The words slipped from his lips in a low whisper. She turned to face him with a questioning look, but he made no attempt to repeat or clarify himself. “Very well, Librarian. I will return some time after my training session. We can discuss more than.” Loki stood from his seat and quickly left the room. It was getting too chummy, and he was not comfortable with it.
"My apologies, Y/LN. He’s not the most easy to get along with at first, but he really is one of the best.” Thor slowly stood from his seat, while Y/N watched Loki disappear behind the door. She quickly tore her gaze away and looked up at Thor.
“Why are you apologizing? He didn’t do anything wrong. I was going to end the meeting anyway, since it’s about time you both left for your training sessions.” She raised an eyebrow at how quick Thor was to apologize and try to assuage her. He’s trying to help Loki fit in, but if he’s always apologizing, that’s not helpful. But then again, I’ve never really interacted with either of them. I’ll wait before I say anything. This could be a one time thing. She stood from her chair and extended a hand to the stunned God of Thunder. “I look forward to working with both of you.” She smiled and he happily to her hand in his, kissing the back of it.
“We are in your care.” He smiled and left a surprised and slightly flushed Y/N.

Valkyrie x Reader

Beta'd by @cordeliasdarling love youuuu <3
Masterlist | AO3
You walk to your girlfriend's office at the end of your work day as you often do, to see if she's ready to go home with you. You enter the room and Valkyrie greets you with a gentle smile before looking back at her desk.
The lack of any verbal acknowledgment is a little odd, perhaps she's working on something very important.
You make your way around her and hug her from behind feeling how tense her muscles are, probably the result of a stressful few weeks, and catch a glimpse of what she's looking at, it's a treaty of sorts, it doesn't seem complicated enough to warrant her behavior, but you don't dwell to much on it. You let go with a loud kiss on her cheek that makes her inevitably grin like an idiot.
You move away to give her space to finish working and go look at her sword collection.
After some time, she signs the document at the bottom of the last page and stands up to store it in her filing cabinet. She walks towards you and you meet her halfway as she pulls you into a tight hug.
An unsettling feeling starts creeping into you when you hear the alarming thumps in her chest as you remain entangled together, "What's wrong, love?"
"Nothing," she mumbles back, doing a poor job of soothing your worries.
"I can feel your heartbeat," you insist, looking her in the eye. She looks back at you for what feels like an eternity.
"We need to break up," she slurs.
You let go and take a step back to get a good look at her, "What?" The confusion in your face is evident.
"We need to break up." This time, it comes out with more security, though that doesn't help you in any way.
"I don't understand, did something happen? Do you not love me anymore?" You feel your body overheating.
She gently holds your hands in an attempt to calm your nerves, "Please don't ask questions."
"Just talk to me, can we be adults about this?" Your voice wavers.
Before Valkyrie can come up with a response, her assistant walks in unannounced, "Your ship is ready, You Majesty." Your eyes go wide in disbelief.
The King's posture straightens immediately, "Thank you," she says to them, "I’m so sorry, Princess, I love you," she whispers at you, placing a kiss to your temple before making a quick exit.
You stand in place unable to process what just happened, "Where's she going?"
"That's above my pay grade," the assistant shrugs.
After a couple of seconds of the events sinking into you, you regain control of your body and decide to chase after Val.
You storm all the way to the garage trying to catch up with her, but when you arrive, her ship has already left. You ask everyone around where she went and nobody seems to be worthy of that information, at least, no one inside the Kingdom.
Before you give up, you return to your now ex girlfriend's office to make a call.
"Captain Marvel's residence, this is Ms Marvel speaking." You are greeted by a strange, impressionable little human.
"Hey," you let out cautiously.
"Hi," she responds in your same tone.
"Where's Captain Marvel?"
"She's unavailable at the moment, is there a message I can pass along for you?"
"Who are you?" you ask, making sure not to sound rude.
"I’m Ms Marvel," she reintroduces herself with pride.
"Ms Marvel who?"
"I’m an associate of Captain Marvel's." You look at her not traumatized face and hear her excited voice, contrasting the deadbeat tone of almost every other agent you've met before.
"How old are you?"
"16 and a half," she grins.
"Are you alone?" Ms Marvel looks around hesitantly, "I’m calling you from Valkyrie's office, there is no way I am a threat to you."
She sighs, "Carol went on a mission that was, quote, 'too dangerous for me,' so she made me stay here."
You mumble an 'okay' in understanding.
"Wait, you're calling from King Valkyrie's office?" She backtracks.
"Yeah."
"Who are you?"
"No one, apparently." You look down to your lap filling her with intrigue, "Can you tell Carol to call me when she gets back, please?"
She nods, "Who do I—?"
"Just tell her to call Val's office, she'll know," you cut her off.
"Alright," an idea pops into her head, "hey, if we're both waiting for Carol, maybe we could wait together? So to speak." At this point she's both bored and now incredibly curious about you.
You figure if you stay on the line you'll see when Carol gets back and you'll get to talk to her sooner, "Sure."
She awkwardly props her feet up on the desk, "So, how do you know King Valkyrie?"
You try your best to be polite to this child, "I was her girlfriend."
"How long?"
"Three years."
"When did it end?"
You look at your watch, "About 20 minutes ago."
She instantly puts her feet down as her lips form a big 'O' shape, "I’m so sorry I asked."
You find her reaction a little amusing, "It's okay, I don't think my brain understands what just happened yet."
"Is that why you called?"
"Yeah," you sigh.
Ms Marvel thinks about it for a moment, "I suppose Carol is a good person to talk to about the whole 'dating royalty' thing."
"And about the whole 'dating Valkyrie' thing," you smirk, hoping to get a reaction out of her.
"What? No way!" she exclaims, proving you successful. You simply hum in response, "No!" She's in shock.
"Very much so."
"Now that's an image I can't unsee." She's being overly dramatic about it.
"You're welcome," you chuckle. You accepted the fact that they made a pretty hot couple a long time ago.
The sound of the ship's door opening catches your attention, "Is that my favorite superhero?" You lean to your side as if you could see through the hologram.
Carol approaches Kamala with curiosity, "Who's calling?"
"Valkyrie's office."
She finally gets close enough to see you, "Hey! Long time no see, where's Val?"
You clear your throat, "I was hoping you knew." Your tone shifts immediately to become smaller.
Carol notices your change in energy, "Kamala, sweetheart, can you give us a moment?" The girl accepts, a little disappointed she's gonna miss out on the tea, so she walks to her room as slowly as possible without being suspicious.
"What's going on?" Carol asks you, concerned.
"I think I just got dumped."
Her brows furl, "What? When?"
"Today." You find it difficult to maintain eye contact.
The Captain sits down where Kamala was, "Did you have a fight? What happened?"
"No, everything was going well, or so I thought," you explain, "earlier I came in, she was acting weird, if I didn't know her better, I might say she was scared. She broke up with me and left, no one knows where."
"I can't believe it, I'm really sorry."
"Do you know where she could have gone?"
She shakes her head, "Last time I talked to her was maybe months ago," she looks at you in deep sympathy, "are you worried she'll do something stupid?"
"It's Val we're talking about, I'd be worried if she wasn't doing something stupid," you weakly snark making Carol snort.
"Are you okay? Do you need anything?"
You take a deep breath, "I think I’m okay, for now. Call me if you hear from her."
"Of course, are you changing your number?" she hesitates.
"I’m not leaving until she kicks me out of here herself, and I have a feeling it's gonna be a while, so…"
Carol fully understands your decision, "Okay, take care of yourself." She hangs up leaving your ears ringing with the white noise of silence.
You drag your feet to Valkyrie's room for the night. As you lay in bed the reality of the day's events finally dawns upon you, and your eyes start filling up with tears.
You have spent many nights like this, you in New Asgard and Val somewhere off in space, the only difference now is the crushing weight threatening to shatter your chest.
Back on her ship, Carol is winding down after her long mission and your call, changing her uniform for more comfortable clothes.
"Why did you lie?" Kamala questions, startling Carol.
"Huh?" Is all The Captain can muster.
"King Valkyrie called like a week ago."
"Did she? I misspoke," Carol looks around suspiciously, "lying is bad."
"You've said that," Kamala groans in return.
You spend the next few days in bed, buried in blankets and drowning in tears. It's probably not the best that you're still in what used to be Val's and your room, but you don't have the strength to move. Val's assistant, Odin bless their heart, has been bringing you meals everyday until you feel well enough to get them yourself.
It seems they're the only person in the entire Kingdom who knows what happened, and they haven't told anyone, judging by the way everyone in the palace still gracefully greets you when they see you.
As the weeks go by The King's impromptu absence starts to show around New Asgard, and not even the council can get a hold of her. It pains you to see how her carelessness has affected the place you've grown to call home, how she so easily abandoned it merely because she didn't want to be with you anymore. It makes you sick to your stomach knowing that people will suffer and it might be considered your fault. You never asked for any of this and there isn't anything you can do about it, now that you have no relation to King Valkyrie.
The following day you receive a call from Carol, "Some new developments, Kamala remembered that we can track Val's ship," you listen intently, trying not to get your hopes up, "but we can't get a signal, which might mean she's too far away."
Your heart drops, "I’m gonna fucking kill her," you mutter under your breath.
"Language!" Carol shouts, gesturing toward Kamala.
"She's allowed to work with an Avenger, but can't say 'fuck'?" you turn to Ms Marvel, "Sounds like you're getting the shorter end of that stick."
"You just said it again!" Carol's voice goes up an octave.
"I can't help it, I’m pissed."
"That's not her fault." Kamala stands awkwardly, watching the scene unfold before her.
"Sorry, Ms Marvel," you grumble.
"You can call me Kamala."
"'Ms Marvel' is fine," you insist.
Carol leans closer to Kamala and whispers, "She's not very warm."
"I can see why Valkyrie likes her."
As much as they are trying to be subtle, they are still right in front of you, "Liked, I believe the word you're looking for is 'liked.' She does no more," you yell in response.
Carol turns to you with a tight lipped smile, "For what it's worth, I don't think that's true."
"Oh yeah? How long after she dumped you did you realize she didn't like you anymore?" You almost feel drunk with anger.
Carol tenses up, she doesn't like your fuck-all attitude, but she's trying to keep her cool and understand you, "First of all, it was mutual and second, my relationship with her was never even close to what you two had. You were good together."
"I know that, that doesn't help me wrap my head around what happened!"
Kamala goes to her room as you and Carol remain silent. You take your phone out to distract yourself, and Carol zones out looking through the window.
After about five minutes, Carol decides it's time to reveal the truth, "I need to tell you something," you look up at her, only half listening, "Val called me a week before she left."
You place your phone down and give her your undivided attention, "What?" It comes out louder than you expect.
"I was gonna tell you, but I wanted to know what was going on first. We talked for a while, longer that usual, mostly about you."
"Me?" You try your best to suppress your emotions and think critically about this.
"Yes, about her possibly marrying you, but she was acting a little off, like she was trying to get me to talk her out of it somehow, looking for excuses, which is a very strange thing to think about when you want to marry someone."
The information feels so surreal to you, also, when did Carol become such an expert? "For a second there I forgot you're married."
She smiles sweetly, "I am."
"Disney princess Carol," you can't help but tease her.
"Do you want me to help you or not?"
"I do, I’m sorry, how is he?" This is the first time you've smiled in a while.
"He's good, thank you." Carol takes your hologram with her as she walks through her ship, "As strange as her departure might have been, she's not really acting out of the ordinary."
You look to the side in confusion, "What do you mean? She never left without telling me where, even if she was gone for long periods, she would always tell me where she was."
"Really?" Carol seems surprised by your words, "It's normal for me to go full months without hearing from her." She finally puts you down on the control panel, "That's her thing, it's what she does, she doesn't want to be tied down—oh my god, I know where she is! I'll come get you in the morning."
Once again she hangs up leaving you to dwell in the uncertainty.
As promised, Carol comes to get you the next day. She doesn't give you enough time for pleasantries before she's rushing you into the ship and taking off.
You had never been in Carol's ship before, it is larger and tidier than Valkyrie's, which says a lot about The King's habits, though this one feels a lot more unstable.
It all makes sense when you peek out a window and can barely make out the stars passing by, "We're going fast."
"We're going far, you might wanna strap in, it's gonna be a bumpy ride," Carol warns you, looking much too calm to your liking, not following her own advice.
You disregard her actions and do as you're told, "Where are we going?"
"The edge of the unknown."
You tense up, "That's not terrifying, where's Ms Marvel?" You try to fight the g-force and look around for her.
"I had to drop her off at home, there is no way I’m bringing her there." Despite her words, Carol remains undisturbed.
You snap your neck in her direction, "But you brought me?"
"Yeah, if Val's there she's not coming back for me."
"So I’m here as bait?"
She brings her hands to her hips as if she was stating the obvious, "Precisely."
You sigh, "I need to get better friends."
"What other friend of yours is gonna help get your wife back?"
"She's not my wife, and also not my girlfriend anymore."
"Eh, but she will be, $100 says you guys will be back together before I drop you off in New Asgard."
You look her in the eye trying to tell if she's joking, but there is no way she's winning, so you accept, "Free money? I’m game."
The way to the mystery destination feels like an eternity, despite the incredible speed you're going. You feel like you've aged three years in the process, and maybe you have.
You arrive at what looks to be a planet sized dumpster, complete with ship scrapes and groups of aliens hunting each other.
You're still recovering physically and mentally from the trip when you notice Carol putting her uniform on, making you immediately concerned, "You're suiting up?"
She glances at you with a teasing smirk on her face, "Relax, I’m trying to make a good impression," she pauses as she waits for the ship's gate to open, "but lock the door and don't open it for anyone."
"Danvers!"
Carol walks to the Grand Arena and requests an audience with the Grandmaster, he gracefully accepts, excited to meet his soon-to-be new acquisition.
He lazily rests on his chair in a room surrounded by his guards, while Carol stands before him, "And who might you be?" he inquires, looking her over.
"I’m Captain Marvel." Carol uses her stoic, commanding hero voice.
"Ooh I like it, what's that? Are you here to fight?"
Carol came prepared for him to try to snatch her for his heinous activities, "I'm friends with Valkyrie."
"Valkyrie who?"
"Sorry, uh, scraper one, four, something," she tries her best to remember the tales Val has told her.
"142? She's my favorite, I always say she's the best!" He looks at the other scrapers in the room who growl at his enthusiasm.
"Good, is she here?"
"Oh, yes, she just came back, and I could not be happier."
Carol feels a sense of pride having successfully figured out where Valkyrie is, "Great." She turns around to leave.
"So you're not here to fight?" The Grandmaster insists.
She fakes a pout, "I wish I could, but I have to go."
He lifts his hand with all his authority, "Guards."
Carol stands tall as her whole body begins to glow, "Are you sure about that?"
The Grandmaster gestures for them to let her through.
You are startled by the ship's door opening and your guard goes up until you see Carol coming in. She doesn't even walk all the way in when she begins talking to you, "Good news and bad news."
"What's the good news?"
"She's here somewhere," she asserts, fully entering her ship.
Your heart skips a beat, but you keep it in check, "And the bad news?"
She hesitates slightly, "She's here somewhere."
It becomes clear to you that you're gonna have to perform a search and rescue on this dubious planet, "Crap."
Carol gives you a sympathetic smile, "Come on, I may have a hunch."
You stop abruptly on your way out, "You're not gonna give me a suit?"
She quickly scans her ship, "You wanna look like Ms Marvel?"
"On second thought, I’m good, thanks."
You get off the ship and follow Carol very closely, you don't wanna die today, and least of all here.
You are navigating the rivers of people, unsure what you're looking for, "How did you learn about this place?"
"Val told me about it, she lived here for a long time before she met Thor."
"How did you know she'd be here?" You instinctively grab her arm when a particularly thick wave of people comes toward you.
"It's where all unloved things come to die," she muses, searching the place ahead with her eyes.
"Die?" You hope you heard her wrong.
"Maybe not die, but hide."
"Unloved?"
Carol finally realizes her poor choice of words, "Right, um, I’m not sure how Val's brain works, it's just, you know, she's not good with emotions." She gestures at you broadly.
You assume you've arrived at your destination when Carol stops in front of a dystopian looking building. Inside, you find a loud bar and see Val in the middle of it, creating a raucous mess. She looks terrible, drunk beyond her senses, almost unrecognizable from the poised and respectable King of New Asgard.
You stay tucked behind Carol as she slowly approaches Valkyrie.
Val turns around and sees her, "Captain! Are you also here to die alone?" she exclaims in her drunken state.
Carol is taken aback by the title replacing her usual nickname, "Val, we're here to take you home."
"Not me, I’m here to slap you in the face." You make your presence known along with your desire for a physical altercation.
"Princess." She has a huge shit eating grin on her face as she looks at you with hungry eyes. She steps closer to you and tries to grope your ass, you slap her cheek before she does.
"What the actual fuck is wrong with you!" you scream, rendering the entire place silent.
Valkyrie holds her cheek dramatically with her grin still plastered on, Carol stands between you two, "Okay, okay, lots of feelings, that's normal and healthy, but this is not the place to make a scene, let's just get back to the ship and we can figure this out later," she hushes in your ear. You reluctantly agree and help her drag Valkyrie back to the ship.
Carol guides her to lay on the couch and you make a beeline toward them, but Carol physically stops you, "Hey, I know you're angry, but our priority right now is to get out of here and fast. If The Grandmaster finds out we took his favorite scraper it's gonna be a shit show, so buckle up."
You decide to listen to her as you haven't even recovered from your arrival. You go to the cockpit and fasten your seatbelt.
You safely make it out of the planet and Carol sets the ship to cruising speed. You get up from your seat and make your way to Val again, but Carol holds you back one more time.
"Stop," she instructs, making you groan, "I know, but she is very drunk right now, any conversation you try to have with her will be useless." You can tell her words come from experience, still you fight to have your way.
"Let me go." You ball up your fists tightly.
She doesn't seem affected by your increasing force, "Whatever you wanna do when you get home is none of my business, but I’m not letting a fight break out in my ship. Let her sober up and then you can try to be civil." You attempt to shake her grip off you, "Trust me, I want to slap her too, but I have to be the bigger person, you're welcome." You huff and go lock yourself in her room.
Carol exhales heavily as she watches you walk away.
After some time she brings Val a glass, "Have some water."
Valkyrie looks at her, still drunk and confused, "What for?"
"So I can sit and talk to you." Carol slumps beside her.
"Do you have alcohol?"
"No." The Captain quickly dismisses her, "Sakaar? Really? What is wrong with you?"
"You keep saying that like there was ever anything right with me." Val takes a big gulp of water.
"Cut it out, no more moping and wishing to die alone," Carol places a hand on Valkyrie's thigh, "I can kind of understand you sabotaging your relationship because it got so good it made you scared, but running away from your home?" she turns her body sideways to sit facing Valkyrie completely, "You are a King now, your people need you, you can't just disappear every time you feel unworthy."
"I broke up with her, didn't I?" Val whispers as her foggy mind remembers the last time she saw you.
"Is that what you took away from my speech?"
"I lost her like I lost my sisters," Valkyrie laments.
Carol feels the need to clarify, "You didn't lose her, you pushed her away."
"She hates me now."
"Yeah, she probably does," Val side eyes her "but you can fix it. She's gonna be in there a while, you get your shit together."
Several hours go by, and Valkyrie begins to worry about you, "How long has she been in there?"
Carol makes an educated guess, "About 12 hours."
"Someone should check up on her," Val ponders, hoping Carol will take initiative, so she doesn’t have to.
"Since I’m not the reason for her emotional distress, I don't think it should be me," Carol asserts, inadvertently taking down Valkyrie’s plan.
The King looks around the ship, nervously biting her lip, "Do you have any swords in here?"
Carol snickers at her hesitation, "Don't be a coward."
"I’m not a coward, I just know when I've upset the wrong person." She gets up from her spot on the couch and braces herself for the encounter. She gently knocks on the bedroom’s door before opening it, "May I come in?" she whispers, popping her head in. She is met by your sleeping form, a damp spot on the pillowcase right under your eyes and a bunch of crumpled up tissues on the bedside table, it breaks her heart knowing she is the cause of your pain.
You stir in bed lightly, in your hazy state you forget you are furious at her.
She walks in and closes the door behind her when she sees your reaction, "You're awake?" Her voice is barely audible as she sits on the bed, careful not to disturb you, you only groan in response, "I’m sorry," you give her a light nod, "can you forgive me?" It's not just about waking you up.
"Not now, Val," you croak trying to bury yourself deeper into the pillow.
"Right, of course. Get some rest." She leans in to place a small kiss on your temple as your eyes close up again, you can still smell the alcohol on her clothes. And just as quickly as she entered, she leaves.
Carol is waiting expectantly for Val to exit her room, "How did it go, soldier?"
"Not great," Valkyrie admits while cautiously closing the door.
"I didn't hear any yelling."
"She's sleeping."
Carol hums, "That makes more sense, did you try a true love's kiss?" Val gives her a death stare making her chuckle.
After many failed attempts at going back to sleep, you decide that hunger is what’s holding you back, so, against your better judgment, you go out to the trenches to find a snack.
You scurry to the kitchen and dig through the cabinets until you find something that looks appealing, a Skrull snack that Valkyrie introduced you to when you first started dating. You’re quietly making your way back to Carol’s room when you spot Valkyrie out of the corner of your eye, rotting on the couch. Without thinking twice about it, you sit beside her and offer her a share of your snack.
"This is kinda nice," you muse, "in all my years of knowing you, I've never seen you with a hangover."
Her accent comes out thick, "Last time I got this wasted I ended up in a brothel. Much better experience than whatever this is." She aims to make a joke that goes very poorly. Something about her immature act prompts you to want to slap her again, she stops you by instinctively lifting her arm, "Don't, one was enough."
"Like it even hurt," you mutter, rolling your eyes.
"It hurt my ego," she snarks, causing you to take away your shared snack and give her the middle finger as you stand up to go back to Carol’s room. It leaves a sour taste in your mouth thinking you were actually considering a truce when you realize she isn’t taking this seriously.
She lazily reaches out for you, "Hey, come on, that was a joke, I’m trying here," she bargains.
"Are you asking me to make this easier for you? Because last time I checked, you broke up with me for no apparent reason, and in the same breath flew off to the armpits of hell without leaving a trace," you snap.
She remains sat down massaging her temples with her gaze on the ground, "It was stupid, I’m sorry."
Your jaw stiffens, "I don't care that it was stupid, Val, you do stupid shit all the time, I’m used to it," you take a step closer to her and lift her chin up with two fingers, making sure she’s listening, "what you did was cruel, it was heartless and irresponsible," she gently moves away from your grasp to look anywhere else, feeling like a chastised kid, "how can you claim to love someone and then disappear from anywhere they could possibly find you?" your voice waivers, "Without an explanation, without anything to hold on to? You could have broken up with me without making me worried sick about you."
Val tries to keep a strong posture, to hide every single way in which her heart fractures at your words, she thinks for a long time and takes a deep breath before responding, "Some time ago, the council told me I needed to find a Queen," she begins, her eyes fixed on the ground, "It seemed simple enough, get a nice rock, take you out to dinner and that's that. So I did, I got a ring, made reservations, I even wrote a speech." she looks at you fidgeting with the edge of her cape, "Then every night leading up to it, I woke up in a cold sweat to a voice in my head telling me I couldn't do it, that it wasn't fair to ask you to spend the rest of your life by my side, I started thinking what would happen if you actually said 'no' and it got me spiraling."
"So what, you fled to the edge of the universe instead?" You’re not buying into her vulnerable performance just yet, "I know you don't like to be tied down, but don't put your thoughts in my head."
She gives you a guilty look as she continues, "The last nail in the coffin was when I realized that if you marry me, you would become a target to every single enemy of Asgard."
"Enemies? How bad can you be at public relations?"
"The history of Asgard isn't exactly one of peace. Anyone who wanted to get to me would eventually find their way to you. I would never forgive myself if I let anything happen to you."
You find it difficult to remain distant after hearing her speak, "As much as I appreciate the chivalry, I don't need your protection, I am perfectly capable of that myself," you settle for sitting on the arm of the couch, "I don't care who you are, I don't care about your power, or your status, or your dumb cape." Your words are harsh, but your tone is genuine.
"You came all this way just to tell me off?" She realizes you came all this way for her, you looked for her until you found her in a place you had never even heard of before.
"Also to slap you, and I have every right to." She knows you're furious inside and she deserves it, but maybe all is not lost.
She stands up with her back towards you, "I hate worrying about you, I didn’t want you to get hurt because of me." You stand up too.
"That's what love is, you can't just shut it off altogether because you get scared sometimes." Something about this conversation isn’t sitting right with you. Yes, you are pissed at her and you want to kill her a little bit, but that doesn’t mean you want to throw away everything you’ve built together.
She turns to face you, her expression is unreadable, "I already did."
"I won't let you. Valkyries don't fear anything, do they?" You carefully extend your arm and graze the back of your fingers over the mark on her left arm, the same one you used to trace over when she'd get back after long missions. It's a quick movement that still manages to make goosebumps overtake her whole body.
"You just said you don't care about me." She's twisting your words in the worst possible way. However, you know her well enough to notice she's doing so to protect her own heart.
You shake your head, "I said I don't care about your flashy outfits," you restate, pointing to the leather armor she's currently wearing, though you must admit it makes her muscles look gorgeous, "you are more than your title, you know?" You hold both of her hands in yours and as you pierce into her eyes you realize this is what you want, she is what you want, and there is no dumb mistake or irresponsible choice that can change that.
"I care about being there for each other and that we know how to communicate without resorting to self imposed exile," you try to explain it in a way she can’t distort, "I care that you trust me enough to tell me when you're scared, and, most importantly, I care that when you're about to do something stupid, you let me know first." With every sentence, you inch closer to her.
"I hear you, loud and clear." She nods, swallowing thickly, "I’m about to kiss you now." She begins closing the gap between you slowly, allowing you to back away if you don’t want it. Your lips connect into a sweet, passionate kiss, it’s an apology and a reconciliation, it’s a promise that you know she will keep.
You pull away in need for air and lean your forehead on hers, "We have a reservation at your favorite place Friday night," she whispers.
You look at her skeptically, "We do?"
"They ought to have an opening for The King," she shrugs making you playfully roll your eyes.
"I can't believe I’m getting back together with you."
She gives you the most terrified, vulnerable puppy eyes, "Do you not want to?"
"Unfortunately, I really do," you sigh with a grin on our face. Suddenly, you remember, "By the way, you owe Carol $100."
"What?"
You play coy, "You had a bet going on."
"American dollars?" she fumbles.
You twist your neck in the direction of the cockpit and yell, "Hey Carol, was it American dollars?"
Carol has been sitting on the pilot’s seat zoned out, looking at the stars for hours, your voice brings her back, "Uh, sure?" She isn’t fully aware of what you’re talking about.
Val produces a handful of Sakaar currency from her pocket and gives it to you, "That should cover it." Although it’s practically useless to her, you take the money and bring it to Carol.
After a minute of processing what you just put in her hand, it clicks, "Wait, I told you!" Carol grins.
"Don't let it get to your head." You try to hide the fact that you’re just as happy as she is.
"Now we'll both be married to royalty."
"Don't jinx it!"
Had to rewatch Ragnarok for this one, that's how committed I am 😂

I saw you again ‖ Carol Danvers x reader part 2
Summary - You couldn't look at her eyes without falling in love again Warning - Was written before The Marvels came out, so the event will not matches canon
Part 1
Three years.
Three years since you came back from the blip. Three years since you moved out of your old house. Something happened to you during the blip. It happened to only a few people but you were unfortunatly one of them. You forgot half of the last four years of your life. Which meand you forgot half of the people you knew in the past 4 years, you forgot half of the things that happened and you forgot half of the good and bad event of your life.
So you decided to move out of your old house. You were still an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D, but you only went on very important mission with the Avengers. Well, at first you were in a bit of a conflict with Clint, due to Natasha's death, but you mainly ignored him. Oh and also, Yelena and you were closer than ever. Not as in a relationship but in a sister way. You were the one to help her deal with Natasha's death and even if it was hard this got you both closer. She felt happier so you felt proud of yourself.
You, however, you felt like something was missing. Like someone was missing. You knew who she was. Atleast you knew her name. Carol. That is how you called her. Well how you called her in your song anyways. You knew she was someone dear to you, you never wrote songs about people so she must have been special. But you didn't remember her and there was no Carol in your social circle.
Anyhow, right now you were in a little rush. You had to go to work for an emergency meeting, Fury's call, about a super hero under the name of 'Captain Marvel'. He said that she was going to take the lead of the SAT, a team you decided to start and so you needed to be there. The SAT, also known as Space Avengers Team was an innitative that would reunite all the Avengers non-human or able to live in space for missions in the outer space or on another planet. Your plan was to expend protection all around the universe, to give the Guardian of the Galaxy more help. The multiverse too now with the help of the young America by Strange's side. And as the brain of idea, you had to be at the meeting on time.
You rushed throught the entrance of S.C.Y.T.H.E, Super Communicative Yard Technologic Hyper Electrocnic, you were greeted by a few agents but you couldn't waste your time on them. As you reached the elevator, you saw that the door was about to close itself and you frowned.
"Please hold the door !" You called out and the person inside of the elevator blocked the door.
"Thank you so much." You said between breath not even looking at the agent by your side.
The meeting was starting in five minutes. You were just on time.
꧁----------꧂
It has been three years since Carol last saw you. She would come visit Earth a few times, and everytime she was staying at your house to remember you. But now here you were. Standing beside her, not even noticing her presence in the elevator.
"Thank you so much." Your voice echoed throught the elevator and Carol felt her eyes tears up.
It has been so long since the last time she heard your voice. Eight years, and now, it sounded so familiar yet so strange. And you looked familiar yet so she feels like you were a stranger. Your once light h/c hair were now darker, and you were also taller than before. Your voice still sounded the same but at the same time your sounded less guarded than before. Everything about you changed, without changing.
Exiting the elevator on the same level, Carol watched as you rushed inside of the meeting room. Not even sparing a glance at her. And she felt her nerves goes up.
"Ah ! There she is ! Carol Danvers, our Captain !" Nick smirked and you looked up from your sit.
'Carol Danvers'
This name was familiar to you and when you looked up, there stood a blond. Her hair were short, very short but it suited her, she was in her suit and you couldn't help but gulp a little at the sign. But what caught your attention the most were her eyes. Her light brown eyes were filled with so many emotions. They held so many memories.
-----
"Carol ! No Carol stop !" You ran away throught your field and Carol chased after you.
"You get back here !" The blond yelled and you giggled before turning around with a smirk.
What you didn't expect was Carol being closer to you than what she was supposed to be, causing the two of you fall. Carol on top of you, yet her right hand was under your head, preventing it to hit the ground.
"If you wanted me to be on top of you, you could have just asked me darling." Carol smirked and you blushed before shoving her away.
"In your dream Vers, back to work now !" You replied with a playful smile and you broke your eyes contact before getting up and go back inside, giggling at Carol's next words that you knew by heart now.
"Yeah, in my wildest dreams Y/n/n. I'll see you again !"
-----
"I should take you on a date." You moved from under the spaceship and Carol chocked on drink.
"W-what ?" She asked with burning cheeks and you smirked.
"I should take you on a date." You repeated and the other woman turned away, clearly flustered.
After a few seconds, you couldn't help but laugh at her reaction causing Carol to faceyou once again, with a playful glare this time. Once your laughter died down, you looked back at Carol only to see her smile from ears to ears, and she was in awe.
"Stop looking at me with those eyes." You playfully rolled your eyes.
"What eyes ?" The blond asked with confusion.
"Eyes that tells me that you're in love with me or something." You pointed out and Carol walked to stand in front of you.
"But I am in love with you. I love you. So please be my girlfriend." She bluntly asked and you stood there in shook.
"W-what ?" This time you were the one stuttering and Carol chuckled before walking away.
"Alright, I'll let you think about your answer ! I'll see you later Space Widow !" She called, leaving you a blushing mess in your garage.
-----
"You know, your eyes remind me of winter." Carol spoke up and you, who was laying against her chest, looked up from your ipad with a confused frown.
"What ?" The question slip from between your lips and the blond chuckled.
"Well, they are cold but beneath them is a bliss of beauty, just like how snow covers the flower buds. And even if they give a cold exterior, the warm your eyes hide behind their walls is so comforting. Just like a warm blanket covering me." Carol explained and you let your ipad on the table with a cheeky smile.
"Then yours remind me of fall. The light brown color of your eyes remind me of the fallen leaves and it also remind me of the cover of the books in my library that I read in fall. Under a warm blanket all over me too." You replied and Carol smiled before pecking your nose.
"Well aren't you a cutie." She complimented and you intertwined your fingers.
"I'm your cutie thought right ?" You questioned and the woman hummed against your lips.
"Yep you are." Carol's soft lips pressed against yours and you moved to a more comfortable position, deciding to sit on her lap, until the kiss was broken by your yawn.
"Go to sleep my darling. I'll be there when you woke up." Carol hugged you tighter and you snuggled into her chest.
"I'll see you again ?" You questioned and the woman nodded.
"I'll see you again love."
-----
"We've been waiting for weeks now ! Where is Fury's team !?" You groaned as you passed around the living room and Carol sighed.
"Darling-"
"No. Listen. The fact that he even let your spacehip have a deficiency is a problem, but he doesn't even try to send you a team ! And the intel you got was wrong !-"
"Babe-"
"-You are so busy but you had to come here and every intel he told you were wrong. Plus you crashed your ship !-"
"Y/n-"
"-What if there was another planet that needs you right now but because Fury doesn't move his ass they will not be able to reach you on time and-"
"Y/n look at me." Carol stopped you firmly, holding both of your arms and making you face her.
"Love calm down. Take a deep breath okay ?" She added as you shared an eyes contact.
And you took a deep breath, her warm light brown eyes helping you to keep your ground as Carol caressed your cheek.
"Everything will be okay. Fury's team will arrive in a few. And if people needs me I'll be there on time. And if I didn't crash my space ship I wouldn't have meet you love." The blond comforted you and you hummed contantly, hugging to woman of your life in the middle of your living room.
"If you go back in space. I'll still see you again right ?" You asked not louder than a whisper and Carol kissed the top of your head.
"I'll see you again. Always."
-----
"I'll see you again..." You breathed out and Carol's breath itched.
"I'm sorry ?" The captain asked and you immediately went throught your stuff.
"I'll see you again ! These were the words you used to tell me all the time ! You're the Carol I love ! The one I wrote the song about ! You're the Carol I've been waiting for all these years !" You exclaimed happily and rushed to hug Carol tightly.
Carol couldn't believe it. Not only you were hugging her after eight years but you also said that you loved her. During the entire time of you both being together you never said L word. Yet today you were basically saying it to stranger.
"I missed you so much..." You whispered and the blond woman couldn't help but feel a tear roll down her cheek.
"I missed you... So much more." She answered.
Then Carol cupped your cheeks between her hands and you leaned into her touch almost immediatly. Your e/c eyes locked with brown ones as Carol smiled. You were really there. She could feel you, she could hold you.
"I missed you so much more my love." Carol lips brushed against yours.
Then your eyes drifted to her lips. You didn't even knew her that well but you felt like you need to kiss her. It just seemed right. And without a single thought, you closed the space between you two. At first you were tensed, the last time you kissed someone, that you could remember of anyways, was probably when you were on a mission for the Red Room. So a while ago. And yet here you were. Kissing a stranger. The kiss was soft yet passionated. And it was probably cliché to say this, but you felt like firework filled in your stomach.
Carol moved her hands from your cheeks to your hands and your fingers interlocked together. They fitted perfectly, as if the were made for each other. Without leaving each other's hold, the both of you pulled away and a soft smile made its way to your lips.
"I knew it. My prodigal child with the prodigal child of the Milky way." Fury smirk from the side and you looked down, your cheeks burning.
"What can I say ? I was destinated to be with a star." Carol replied while looking down at you.
Looking up at her with a smile, you couldn't help but stare at her enchanting eyes. You felt loved, cuddled, under a warm blanket.
"I'm so glad I got to see you again Captain Marvel." You breathed out with a grin and Carol put a strand of hair behind your ear lovingly.
"And I more Space Widow."

Welcome Aboard
A/N: Cranked out my first fic for Carol. All mistakes are mine.
Pairings: Carol Danvers x Reader
Warnings: A little bit of angst and alcohol use
----------------
Carol never has visitors.
When the boarding request pops up on her communications system, she almost blows it to bits, it's a sound she hasn't heard in years. It takes her a few seconds to finally press the button to speak to whoever is waiting on the other side.
"Who's there?" she finally asks.
"Captain Marvel?" a voice responds, "I'm agent y/n, I'm here from S.A.B.E.R. Our comms are down indefinitely, so Fury sent me over to do a briefing."
Carol looks over at Goose, who's stretched out across the navigation station, unbothered by the news of an unexpected guest. Carol tries to emulate the same attitude, striding over to the door to greet you like she's done this plenty of times. She used to at some point, that has to count for something, right?
She loses her bravado as soon as she finds you standing in the entryway.
"Captain Marvel, it's a pleasure to meet you," you stick your hand out and Carol takes it after a beat too long. You don't take offense, Fury gave you the rundown on how long Carol has been isolated. It only took a few minutes to conclude that being a multi-galactic hero is a lonely job.
Carol doesn't stand around for too long, she hurries into the ship after inviting you in.
"Excuse the mess, been a while since someone's been aboard," she apologizes, tossing a single loose shirt into a hamper in the corner and tidying a pillow that was definitely knocked over by Goose.
"It's no problem, are you ready to start the briefing?"
"Sure, you want a drink or anything? Besides water, I think there's a few bottles of brew from Aladna hiding in the back of the fridge," Carol is already halfway to the kitchen, oblivious to the quizzical look on your face.
"I'm okay, Captain, honest," you flash her a friendly smile, and she feels the air escape her lungs. Her shoulders descend from her ears as she walks over to the chair across from you. You're too busy pulling up the agenda to notice.
Carol gingerly takes a seat, her hands rubbing vigorously against her thighs. She might be the first person to grate their hands on denim jeans at this rate. You're still looking for the agenda when Carol springs up from her seat, "are you sure you're not hungry? I'm so sorry, I should have offered before-"
"Captain?"
"Yes?" Her eyebrows were about to launch into orbit, she was already a few paces away from the kitchen, scraping the farthest corners of her mind for that recipe she learned from a family she helped a few galaxies ago.
"I'm okay, really."
"Right," she hurries over to the chair again and lets her body unceremoniously drop into it, vowing to herself she'll never get up from this spot unless she absolutely needs to. She looks up to see you waiting patiently for her go-ahead. Despite traveling to the furthest edges of the universe, she's never seen anything like the color of your eyes.
She collects herself quickly before saying, "let's get started."
---------------
The briefing was mostly successful. Turns out your agenda was outdated, the correct one must have been wiped out from the surge that knocked out the comms. You had to ad-lib everything that was left out and corrected anything that was no longer relevant. Carol watched you intently the whole time, like the fate of the universe depended on scheduled ship maintenances and admin tasks.
"There's still one thing, it was from a meeting last week," you stand, pacing back and forth trying to jog your memory.
"I'm sure it's in there somewhere, maybe we can take a look with these?" Carol is holding two memory dive devices. You've never had to use them before, but you know everything there is to know about how they work.
"Good idea Captain."
"You can call me Carol, agent, it's alright," she hands you one of the devices.
"Thank you," you just nod and take the device, Carol pretends the way your fingers brushed against hers for a fleeting second didn't just make her spine tingle. She lets you take her bed while she sits in the tattered recliner she's been meaning to get rid of.
----------------
It all happens so fast.
One second you're watching the memory of you sitting in a briefing room with Fury and your colleagues, the next, you're watching Carol's memory of Maria telling her to take Goose.
"The cancer came back."
You can only watch a few more blurs of Carol's memory before you jolt upright. Your body is so tense, all you can do is let out a shuddering breath and a few tears.
"Y/n?" Carol is already by your side, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for that to happen."
Her voice is distant, like she's calling to you from the other end of the galaxy in the deepest cave. You're still trying to get your bearings, that was far too much pain packed into what was only seconds with the mind dive.
"Can you look at me? Please?"
She sounds much closer now, you turn to look at her and suddenly remember where you are. Your breath is still unsteady as you wipe the half-dried tears on your cheeks, embarrassed over being reduced to tears.
"That...those were your memories," you finally speak, Carol sighs in relief. Her hands have been hovering between your shoulders and face this whole time, unsure if touching you was the best idea.
"Yeah, they were," she straightens up, taking the device from your hands and tossing both aside.
"I've been trying to remember everything...before, well, everything," Carol starts again, looking at anything but you, "I'm so sorry, if I knew that was going to happen I wouldn't have-"
She's cut off by the feeling of your arms pulling her against you. She almost forgot how much she loves hugs, almost.
Carol returns the favor and wraps her arms around you. You both stay like that for a while. Loss is one of the first lessons a hero learns, but it doesn't mean they're impervious to its effects, especially with how often it happens. Carol is trying to convey how sorry she is with every circle she rubs into your back. You only part when it seems like the dust has finally settled.
"I think I'll take that beer now," you say after heavy sigh. Carol gives you a sympathetic smile before heading to the fridge.
----------------
Carol explains everything that you saw.
She also tells you stories about her life before this one, and her adventures from roaming the galaxies. You did a poor job of trying to stifle your giggling when she mentioned being married to Aladna's prince to resolve a "legal issue." That earned you some side eye and an eventual smirk.
Carol swears she's mostly made peace with everything that happened, but you both know it weighs heavy on her from time to time.
Especially during long stretches of solitude like this one.
Goose saunters over to you and spills over your feet belly-up with a lazy "meow," a prime position for scratches.
"Goose is probably stoked to get scritches from someone other than me," Carol quips into the mouth of her beer.
"I could do this all day," you say without a second thought and Carol's smile reaches her eyes.
"Carol, I want my agent back," Fury chimes in over comms.
"I'll think about it," Carol says coolly as she takes a swig from her beer, you stand up out of habit from hearing Fury's voice.
"He's right, I should probably go, there's going to be million things to do now that comms are back up."
"Of course, let me walk you out," Carol sets her bottle down and leads you to the doorway. Seems like you only walked through there a few minutes ago. Time is playing tricks on you, it seems.
"Stay safe out there," Carol says.
"You too, Carol," you trade smiles, committing hers to memory by the time she pulls you in for a hug.
"Thank you," she whispers, hugging you tighter for a few seconds before finally letting you go.

"So?" Fury is the first to greet you when you arrive at the station.
"Pretending comms is down just to give her human interaction is kind of evil...yet genius," you shake your head with a smile.
"I know she gets lonely out there, she'll never admit it. This is the least I can do," he shrugs before turning on his heel. He walks a few steps before turning to you again.
"Same time next month, agent y/n?"
"Of course sir."
He gives you a curt nod with a knowing smirk before finally leaving.

WIP GAME
Rules: You will be given a word. Share one sentence/excerpt from your wip(s) that start with each letter of that word.
the wonderful @wildglitch has tagged me, so i must deliver! @chaoticallyfluffy also tagged me but wild got to it first LMFAOOO so my word is dance! (i barely got any wips but we'll see)
D: Darla then came bursting into the room, holding two crutches, running to the group. She had a gleeful grin, looking proud of herself. "I found them! It was in the doors room. I had to wrestle one of those octopus monsters for it!” Darla passed the crutches over to Eugene, who set them up under Pedro until they were stable before letting go of him. (Technically not a WIP but still a WIP is this already posted chapter of SUFC)
A: Anyways, which extraterritorial leader decided Tuesday was a good day to schedule a whole ass alien invasion? Especially at 10 in the morning? Not to mention that they specifically aimed for Fawcett City, like just why? The city was strange enough, dealing with all kinds of magical beings and time bubbles, and now add aliens to the list! Billy already had enough on his plate, thank you very much! (Untitled Shazamily WIP)
N: “Nope, everything’s always slow in the fall. Y’know how it is. Crime’s low, food’s low, and usual jobs are taken by the time I get there.” Billy sighed again for a second time, before slipping on his worn-out red sneakers. In the fall, he was lucky to even get a leaf raking gig, but even that was a long shot. (Untitled Champion of Magic centered fic)
C: Captain Marvel descended down to the scene, meeting face to face with Black Adam. His cape shone and sparkled in the sunlight, billowing in the wind— almost in a divine way. Marvel’s gaze met Black Adam’s, tensing up the atmosphere. The pressure grew as silence greeted the two. They both studied each other, calculating when the other would strike. Black Adam smirked, before he gave the first blow. Luckily, good ol’ Herc warned Billy in time before he got his head blown inwards. (Same untitled wip as the one for N)
E: -existing.” “But, dude, you literally one-shot them everytime one somehow ends up at the rock. Plus, when you are at those league meetings, we always clean them up for you!” Freddy pointed out, with an accusatory tone. “I know! But it’s still annoying as hell! Like I’m literally just walking around, and suddenly there’s a demon after my head.” Billy groaned, leaning on the armrest of the throne. (SUFC deleted scenes)
uhmmm idk who to tag lol the people that i usually tag already done it and tagged me first LMFAO
@jasontoddsguns youre it 😈 (idek if you write fanfic HELPP)

You had known Steve Rogers since you were kids. He lived two doors down from you, and, for as long as you could remember, you and Bucky had been inseparable.
That afternoon, almost evening, you were sitting on the front steps of your house, waiting for Steve to arrive. You had arranged to go out that night, one of the last of the summer. Your parents weren't home, and you had planned a little getaway to the park that used to be your secret hideaway. Finally, you saw him approaching. Steve was walking with his hands in his pockets.
“Hey,” you greeted, standing up and walking down the steps to meet him.
“Hi,” he replied. You noticed he looked more tired than usual.
“Ready for our last adventure of the summer? “you asked.
“Of course, I am. I wouldn't miss this for the world.”
You both walked in silence towards the park, enjoying the noise the crickets were making and the first stars appearing in the dark sky. You walked to the clearing where you used to play as children, a small nook surrounded by tall trees. You sat down on the grassy ground, and Steve plopped down beside you.
“Do you remember the first time we came here?“ Steve asked, looking up at the sky.
“Of course you do. You said you found a secret hideaway,” you replied, laughing at the memory.
“It was our little refuge from the world,” Steve said quietly. ”A place where we could be ourselves without being bothered. Hey, you know what I want to do?”
“What? “you asked.
“We're going to catch fireflies like we used to. It will be our last hunt of the summer.”
You laughed but nodded. Steve stood up and held out his hand to help you up, and for a moment you stared at him, wondering what you would do without him when he finally left. Together you walked through the park, looking for the little fireflies, running after them, laughing and stumbling in the dark just like when you were kids. Steve caught a firefly in his hands and showed it to you, his face illuminated by the soft green light escaping between his fingers.
“Look, one more for our collection,” he said with a smile.
“You're going to let them go, aren't you? “you asked, pretending to be annoyed.
“Of course. I always let them go,” he said, and then opened his hands, allowing the firefly to fly free again.
You both lay on the grass, watching the stars as the fireflies flew around them. Finally, after a long silence, Steve spoke.
“I'm leaving tomorrow,” he said, his voice barely a whisper.
You closed your eyes, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to well up.
“I know,” you replied, your voice trembling.
“I don't want to leave you,” Steve continued, ”but I feel it's the right thing to do. I need to do something, something that matters.”
“I understand, Steve. I understand more than you know. But I can't help wishing you'd stay.”
Steve slowly, slowly leaned toward you, his lips brushing yours sweetly. When you finally parted, you both had tears in your eyes.
“You will always be my home, no matter where I go,” Steve commented.
“And you will always be my hero, Steve Rogers,” you replied.
You stood there, holding each other under the stars, knowing that this would be your last time together.
When the sun finally began to peek over the horizon, you got up and walked home, holding hands, as you had done many times before. You reached your house, and you stopped at the door, unwilling to let him go.
“I'll write to you every day,” Steve promised.
“And I'll wait for you.”
You hugged and kissed one last time, and then Steve turned and walked away. You stood there, watching him, until he finally disappeared.
You didn't know it would be the last time you would see each other.
