hey guys, maybe before you pirate LEARN SOME ETIQUETTE
why are these important? well, if you openly share the sites, they wil get shut down. corporations are willing to copyright strike anything. you are only going to make accessing these resources harder.
remember: LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS
if you want to share resources, don't post them on public forums like tumblr, twitter, instagram or any popular site. remember how zlibrary shut down? yall want that to happen to more sites? do you?
also like if they get shut down, people who can't access these otherwise because they don't have the means for it or its banned in their country are losing access.
Don't post links online. Only share in private conversations.
try and avoid linking the sites directly. a workaround is sharing the downloaded files via other file hosting sites similar to google drive and drop box
DON'T SHARE ON PUBLIC FORUMS. EVER. PLEASE
Use a VPN. i personally like proton vpn, it is a freemium model but the free version works fine.
These are just the basics, there are others but please keep these in mind.
me hearing my friends lament that they can't play older games on newer consoles because they're not remade or rereleased yet and may never be brought back:
The Internet Archive is under attack by corporations seeking to wrest more and more of our fair use rights, our public spaces and our communities from the public good. The Archive was recently forced into a settlement for scanning and digitizing legally purchased books. They are now facing a $325 million lawsuit for accepting donations of old 78 RPM historical music records that were digitized by volunteers. The goal is not only to stop the distribution of these works, but to create new legal precedents that make it illegal to preserve or archive for any reason. This will have a significant impact on our culture, our communities, and our future
Here is how you can help them
1. Use The Internet Archive Site
2. Save websites via "Save Page Now" browser tool
3. Become a patron to get a free "library card"
4. Curate & Upload to the Archive
5. Tell People That the Internet Archive Exists
6. Browse The Many, Many Collections
7. Take care of yourself and the people you care about
(Link will take you to a blog article that goes into these suggestions in detail)
Hello Guild Wars 2 community! A new poll has dropped! 🐦⬛
(At least, hopefully new, lol.) I'm curious, which blessing did your Commander get on their first/canon go through the Raven Sanctum in the story mission "The Invitation?" Choose and tell me in the tags why they made their specific decisions :)
Compiled explanations from the wiki below for ease of access:

Blessing of Twilight
"We try so hard to do the right thing. We heal, we protect our people, we preserve stability. But we cannot control how the winds of fate may shift, and a tight grip can sometimes hurt more than it helps."
found 'the way' a really interesting piece of speculative fiction exploring the idea of anti-migrant xenophobic violence being turned inwards towards 'legitimate citizens' when interests of capital are threatened by struggle, but this sequence in the last episode def stood out to me as a neoluddite.
feels connected to this quote from dan mcquillan's 'resisting ai - an anti-fascist approach to artificial intelligence':
Bergson argued that if one accepts a ready- made problem in this way, "one might just as well say that all truth is already virtually known, that its model is patented in the administrative offices of the state, and that philosophy is a jig- saw puzzle where the problem is to construct with the pieces society gives us the design it is unwilling to show us." (Deleuze, 2002, cited in Coleman, 2008)
In other words, however sophisticated or creative AI might seem to be, its modelling is stuck in abstractions drawn from the past, and so becomes a rearrangement of the way things have been rather than a reimagining of the way things could be. AI has, in effect, an inbuilt political commitment to the status quo, in particular to existing structures that embed specific relations of power. The absence of different concepts leaves out the possibility of conceiving that things could be arranged differently.
Because my feelings on this are not ebbing at all, I went onto the Wayback Machine to revisit the Daily Show websites from its early days on. That site was my most visited for years, perfectly archived and so accessible. It was the beating heart of the fandom in so many ways.
What was removed yesterday from Comedy Central wasn't close to what it used to be - this is absolutely not me minimizing things at all, the wipe effectively makes The Daily Show and The Colbert Report lost media to people who don't know how to find them in less than legal ways and removes access to a massive part of modern American culture. But I'm kinda mourning an entire fandom experience rn.
Here's a pull from the website from 2009 from the Wayback Machine. I'm pretty sure I subscribed to the newsletter.
The design I remember the most is this one - pull from 2012.
Rob Corrdry's back guys!!! :D
The site got its last functional overhaul around when John Oliver hosted in 2013.
And for all the olds, here's the site's initial incarnation, pulled from 2004.
You should go to their Downloads page and grab some sweet Instant Messenger icons.
Companies are trying to phase out physical media because they hate the idea of people owning things, they would rather you pay a subscription fee to watch all your favorite shows and movies until the day you die.
my parents are so weird about pirating I don't get it. They're really into it being 'morally wrong' which just doesn't make any sense to me like it's way more morally correct than actually supporting places like Disney and Amazon. At least I've got friends who can pirate shit for us
Yeah lots of people still very much buy into the capitalist idea that stealing sweets from a baby is as bad pirating media from a multibillion worth company. Bc both are theft right? WRONG!! You just aren't paying for a subscription that you already weren't paying for. They aren't losing money. Good on you for having friends who can - community is important
