#Cannot believe this is the timeline we're in

Alright so now that it's been a day and I've had some time to collect myself, I want to give my thoughts on Xenoblade X Definitive Edition.

Holy. Fucking. Shit. How is this real.

Ok so, I'm a pretty big fan of Xenoblade X, though I wasn't as much when I first played it in a Xenoblade marathon in the months leading up to 3. I didn't think it was bad or anything, it just didn't click with me the way the rest of the trilogy did at the time.

That is until I played it a second time roughly a year later alongside Xenogears and Xenosaga leading up to Future Redeemed. Before I got to it, I had made an effort to try and figure out the game and avoid the mistakes I had made in my first playthrough.

And I loved it.

Compared to the first time it was crazy, I didn't want to put the game down at all. Naturally after that, I really wanted to see some kind of follow up or for X to get some kind of second chance. Being a late Wii U game in a series that was at the time quite niche meant not a lot of people have gotten to play it. So a remaster on the level of Xenoblade 1's Definitive Edition felt like something X sorely needed as a way for more people to have a chance to play it and as a way to follow up on some of it’s infamous cliffhangers. People have wanted it for years for those reasons as well as the prospect of having the entire series on Switch.

And then Nintendo decides to come in on a random Tuesday out of nowhere and just drop the insane bombshell that a Xenoblade X Definitive Edition is real, is coming to the Switch and seemingly doing all of the above. I genuinely did not think it would ever happen. Monolith have put out statements before talking about how difficult and costly porting X would be, understandably so given how demanding that game was for the Wii U. Between that and just how late we are into the Switch's life, I felt like X on Switch was a pipe dream at best. Plus with the supposed Switch successor rumored to be a notable leap in power, I expected that if an XDE was on the table it would be saved for that to take advantage of the improved hardware.

But, here we are, Monolith have pulled out something I never thought possible. So far it seems like the graphics aren't overhauled as much as 1DE, which is fair, X holds up way better, especially in comparison to Xenoblade 1. But of course there are obvious changes to the character models and geaphics overall, so far everyone is looking pretty good so I'd say I'm already pretty happy on that front. There do also seem to be some minor tweaks to character designs, nothing major for the most part namely Lin only has one Monado hairpin instead of two.

What may be the most notable thing here is that finally after nearly a decade, they are finally following up on some of X's hanging threads with confirmed new story content. We can also see here the character people have called The Black Knight up until now. We never get anything close to a proper look at them in game but datamined models have shown us his model from the ending cutscene. He's we can already see he's been pretty heavily changed from the datamined model which makes sense. That model uses recolored grenada armor with a hood added so it was probably more of a placeholder than anything. I am very much looking forward to seeing where this goes.

What I am most curious about though is how this game will perform on a technical level. The original version was already struggling to run well on the Wii U even after the 15GB worth of performance patches, so I can't help but wonder how this game will turn out on the Switch. There's really no way to know til people get their hands on it.

That's about all we know for certain til we hear more, but there is a fair bit I would like to see from this game, a lot of it being general qol stuff, such as let me change my party or the time of day on the fly, give me better inventory management stuff like that. More options to customise my character would be nice too but given the precedent set by 1DE more armor pieces is probably a given. I would like it if some of the outfit pieces that differed between genders became available to both just to have more options, especially in regard to casual wear.

The biggest thing that I hope they implement though, that personally I think is borderline required for this game is some actual explanation for how the game mechanics work. The main reason I had such a hard time with X the first time is because most of its mechanics are never properly taught to you and they're just not intuitive enough to figure out on your own. Most egregiously this includes Overdrive, not just the cornerstone of X's combat system but an incredibly fun mechanic unique to X that not a lot of players got to fully appreciate because they didn't understand how it works.

I know the Wii U digital manual explained some of these things but people weren't really reading manuals in 2015, much less digital ones that are somewhat disconnected from the actual game. As far as I'm aware the Switch doesn't even have digital manuals like the Wii U so actual tutorials maybe something they need to add if they want any of the presumably many new players to figure out how to play the game.

Other than that though I'm very happy with what we've seen so far. I'm really looking forward to playing this game again with hopefully a much more active online playerbase for things like squad missions or nemesis battles. Will certainly make getting reward tickets much easier and more fun.

Musical Touken Ranbu: Tsuwamonodomo ga Yume no Ato english sub

A passion project if there's ever been one, it's been a longstanding want of mine to finally do this! Needless to say, Tsuwamono and everything it meant is still my favourite plot from Toumyu! I love its character-driven and intricate writing, its heartrending acting choices, as well as the way it invites one to think about what characters think and why, and why they do or don't (dare to) do the things they do.

However, another important reason that I'm letting myself indulge in this, is that recent Toumyu has taken a turn away from this plot, changing the way how Mikazuki is framed, tying different characters to themes that were tied to Kogitsunemaru, and put those characters into roles that would originally have been most natural for Kogitsunemaru to follow.

In that light, then, I hope that these subtitles will allow you to see, even if it's just the smallest sliver, what I loved in Toumyu's take of Kogi and Mika up to and including Kotobuki. To see that it was beautiful. Because I think it was. 💙💛🌙🦊

Keep in mind that the files in the folder below are only the subtitle files, timed and tled to the blu-ray and DMM senshuuraku distribution. The folder also includes a pdf with translation notes, some background information where I felt it would add, and just a little bit of eager gushing about the references made.

the thing about hoshino and dgm is that I firmly trust that if she ever meant for laven to be in any way canon it's gonna be stupidly obvious whether she meets today's fandom standards of canon or not, the exact same way it's stupidly obvious that yulma is as canon as it could get while also leaving just enough plausible deniability that no one at jump would tell her to tone it down.

I remember when the "Yuu, I love you" dropped some people really went "well actually☝️the word he uses for i love you can be used for family and friends as well" and it was like okay but read the context, you know? That's the reincarnation of the woman he loved in his past life who he's spent his whole second life searching for, he was willing to go against everything and anything to be left alone with him and hold him in his final moments AND NOW he's back in the order which he hates with his whole being exclusively as a thank you to Allen for giving him a way to save and then grieve Alma in peace. I mean that hoshino might have not have had them make out on page but you can read between the lines, yes?

And what I'm saying is that if she ever meant for laven to have something even remotely similar to yulma it's gonna be that obvious, I trust her on that. Which has always been lowkey relaxing for me cause I can read their interactions as they come in the story without having to go crazy with the board and the red string, I can just notice all of them and keep them in my heart and ship them because not shipping them goes against my nature at this point and leave her to make the connections for me

and this has been my mindset since the yulma arc ended, so please understand that the fact that she has actually started to make those connections for real is driving me absolutely nuts

"Bringing things back" A rant.

I feel like people are going to misunderstand this post so let me be clear: Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I just don't think we should be shutting down someone else's desires on a minor technicality.

For a long time a hot topic has been the belief that you cannot "bring back" anything from your DR. So when someone expresses the want to return with pictures, possessions, and keepsakes, they'd often be shut down and told it's not possible.

The general consensus is if you do it you'd just shift back to a reality that's identical except for the item in question, and therefore it doesn't count because it's not this exact reality.

To be clear: a reality exactly like your original all the way leading up to the shifting and coming back except now the desired item has appeared in your room.

In my opinion, why does it matter? Why does it have to be the exact reality you left? Why should someone give up on something they want over a technicality? From your perspective as a shifter it is an experience that is identical to what you wanted anyway.

Think of it this way:

If a friend told you they shifted to their Hogwarts DR a second time would you tell them they're wrong because in-between shifts they scripted in a new pair of socks and therefore they haven't shifted to their Hogwarts DR a second time because they're technically two separate realities? Or is the difference small enough that it doesn't really matter enough to correct your friend?

Personally, if someone lectured me over a pair of socks I scripted I'd be very annoyed.

I have seen multiple people express the desire to bring back photos, proof, etc and they're flat out shut down or scolded. I cannot believe that so many people act as if it is entirely out of bounds because of a small technicality.

We're shifters. Alternate timelines are supposed to be our WHOLE thing and you can't accept this because it's technically a different reality???

If you can believe that you can go to Hogwarts or be a superhero you can believe in a reality where you come back with a small keepsake.

You have limitless potential, you can become anything you want do not throw that away for ANYTHING.

Stop centering this reality so much. It is not the only one that matters, it is not the end all be all, it is not the determiner of what is and isn't possible. If you only wanted what this reality had to offer you wouldn't be here reading this in the first place.

STOP crushing your own dreams because of what @closemindedoldfart3 says is possible. You are not here to give up on the thing you want you are here because you refused to accept this reality as all you were meant for. So stop putting limits on yourself. Do what you want instead of what you think you're capable of.

If you want stuff from your DR in your CR there is literally no reason not to get it.

Not that anything's a for sure bet but my read on the general situation re: Harris-Walz is that there's going to be a lot less headwind to fight for Harris specifically as opposed to Clinton because the amazing right wing media hasn't had twenty years for poison to seep into the layperson's thoughts about Clinton's "worthiness"

Well, that and the fact that the MAGA crowd are just really, really bad strategic planners (especially since a solid 75% of their strategy is "lol we'll just cheat and win it that way, we don't need anything else.") They howled for 3.5 years about how Biden was too old to serve and should step down, and then when he did, they had zero plan how to run against Kamala and Trump is now practically begging Biden to magically get back into the race and save him. They ran an anti-Shapiro influence campaign by encouraging the antisemitic online left and planning to exploit the issue among Democrats divided on Israel/Gaza, then furiously melted down when Walz was picked and had no plan to deal with him either. Fascism is a helluva drug, kiddos. Don't try it at home.

The reason Harris has been able to rocket so high is simple, which is that she's channeling Obama 08 energy in more ways than one. Obama also came onto the national political scene four years before (with his speech at the 2004 DNC) and four years later, he was the party's nominee. It didn't even matter that he was a skinny brown guy named Barack Hussein Obama, because people were so tired of the chaos and war and incompetence of Bush Jr that they latched onto a simple message of hope and change and the historical nature of his candidacy felt like an optimistic risk worth taking. Why couldn't it be time for the first African American president? Yes, of course, there was incredible vitriol and we are still dealing with that backlash in some ways now, but still.

As I have said before, Trump is technically not the incumbent, but the last 8 years have been dominated by his hatred, chaos, division, rage, and treason in a way even Bush could never quite manage, and when people get to that point, there's a lot of coiled-up energy that has at last come bursting out. We needed Biden's old-moderate-white-man cred to defeat Trump as the sitting president in 2020, when most of his worst scandals hadn't even happened yet, but this is not 2020 (or 2016) and the dynamic is different. We are now on offense and playing to win, people have readily and eagerly embraced the absolute god tier karma that would come from a black female prosecutor finally ending the Orange Menace's reign of terror once and for all, and the Republicans are spitting smoke and spinning gears running frantically through their usual tired old stupid cliche attacks. GAY TRANS EVIL BIRTHERISM SWIFTBOAT FOREIGN FAR LEFT COMMIE LIBERAL HEATHEN!! they scream desperately, trying to find something that sticks. Except this time, no matter how hard the corporate media tries to help them out, nobody is listening. Nobody is buying it. We know exactly what BS they're trying and we're just shrugging and going "Yeah, no. Weird."

It absolutely helps that Kamala is not dragging the ball and chain of 20 years of Republican smear attacks, yes. But there are a lot of reasons why the GOP is imploding before our eyes and it's probably now more statistically likely that there is a blue tsunami than it is that Trump wins. I still cannot, CANNOT, believe it has been barely three fucking weeks. If this is a dream don't want to wake up, etc. Let me goddamn stay in this timeline just a little longer. And if we do the work, we can in fact make it that way, and Yeah. Yeah.

I love how Han Sooyoung is just as much of an unreliable narrator as Dokja. It's like:

HSY, after splitting herself into so many different fragments we never once meet a version of her with 100% of her memories: Kim Dokja has split himself in two! This is the worst thing that's ever happened and we cannot rest until he's whole again!

Like she does genuinely believe this it's just she doesn't care about it happening to her. The fact that there's another version of her out there is a shrug and what can you do moment but anything similar happening to someone she loves? We're timeline hopping and blowing up the universe gang.

I actually started this blog for one post only. The theory is that the story we are following is currently the 5th timeline.

I would need to watch the donghua again to find hints in the show itself but for now this post is exclusively about the content we keep getting served as fanservice. Now, people nowadays see this word as negative but in this particular case, we are evidently caught in an ARG (Alternative Reality Game), which is AWESOME.

For those who aren't familiar with the concept, it is basically a treasure hunt outside of the original media. For example, if you gather enough clues during your playthroughs of OXENFREE, you'll find the coordinates of an actual place where a real object, a gift FOR FANS was hidden. In the context of Link Click, I believe the rules and answers regarding the worldbuilding are hidden in plainsight for us to discover!

I will make different posts on the clues in lyrics, but for now we're gonna have a talk about VISUALS only. And boy, do we have THINGS to talk about

First things first, let's start with

I'm opening this analysis with this particular one because it is the most relevant to current events. Black circles are V and white ones are IV. The huge clock is the background isn't supposed to be oriented this way for starters. One V is where XII should be, which could mean our journey starts here. The other V is between Cheng Xiaoshi and Li Tianxi, on the light side, while both VI are on the dark side. Every other VI on this artwork is a broken piece taken out of a quadrant except for the one on the right near Qiao Ling which is still part of the biggest piece.

It is interesting that we don't see any clockhands here, only the quadrant, and the only whole number is 5, ONLY on CXS's introduction.

Not so subtil, the mirror or "painting" is labeled 'V'. Lu Guang is also looking directly at US, viewers.

Probably five lines of five x but we only see 3, of which only the first one got 5x. Four diformed shapes can be seen at LG's left, under V/VI, which could be the four previous failed timelines. You might notice that LINK CLICK is written 5times. The clock says 00:05. Oh, familiar, isnt it?

As you can see, the V is a light in the darkess at Lu Guang's feet. it is a broken piece, though. The fact it is the enlighted one could mean two things. 1) It marks the spot, where we're currently at. 2) Hope. I would argue that until then Cheng Xiaoshi always died and now, at the end of season 2, Lu Guang is in the dark because he never went that far.

VI is there too, in complete darkness, blocked from view by a ring. There is something to say about VII being completely obliterated but I honeslty don't know how meaningful that could be.

It doesn't create a new timeline like in MARVEL, there is actually no going back from a changing node, it unravels this world. Either it already happened, allegedly because of Lu Guang, or will happen in the next season, we can suppose that Timeline VI is the actual doomed one. The fact Cheng Xiaoshi is trapped is relevant too. Destroying Present and Future would trapped him in the Past, hence Come back from the dive back in time.

There are many things to say about this one, but I'll keep it simple since it's already a long post. Let's start with something a bit out of topic: colors. Why? It actually indicates that LG isn't from the same timeline than CXS and QL. And I swear it would be useful at the end of this post.

Blue and Red are on the same plan, no matter if we're talking about RGB or CMYK, but Green and Magenta are not. It's like CXS and QL are anchoring LG in this reality, but Magenta is not supposed to be part of the mix. Primary colors in photography are Red, Blue and Green; not Magenta. Since we're talking about photography and this is not the original timeline, I think it is intended.

I'll leave the count of squares to you (spoiler: either 5 or 3 (I'll explain this one in another post) :D).

I recommend you read this glorious meta about this ending. I'll just "correct" mimicha on one point:

The way the hands are "cutting a piece" of the clock; just like in the promotional poster for Train Trail. It indicates 5. I'll also add this one:

If you look carefully, you'll see two words: TIME PARADOX. As said above, a paradox should NOT be possible with the rules LC gave us so far, but it could be related to the possible 6th doomed timeline. The "dark side" could try and make it happen. Just food for thoughts.

Most of it is obvious, the same logic applies, except for the cogs and hourglasses, we see four of each falling. Since LG's shadow/light goes from IV to V, it's safe to assume that those symbolize the four failed/achieved timelines. The ones left behind. I'll probably post something about cogs and hourglasses one day.

Many things are happening in this one but only one regarding our current meta. If you pay attention, you'll see it several times, while the chorus is playing:

Now, if you remember correctly, green is the exact chromatic opposite, the complementary color of magenta. They aren't on the same plan (primary vs secondary)/from the same timeline. Usually, they color Lu Guang but here, there is no magenta and no Lu Guang. With this in mind, could it be the paradox OVERTHINK warned us about? We can only assume Vein is from the same original timeline as LG. Red and Green are primary colors so yeah, we'll see.

You haven't been feeling the spark, so it's necessary for you to release something physical—maybe old clothes or belongings that you do not use anymore. Donate them; you'll feel much lighter. Some of you may be moving places or shifting. Everything's a mess while shifting, but once you're in your new home (new reality), you can easily focus on decorating the new home. Right now you're transitioning, so it's a good time to remember the lessons and be prepared to finally step into your new reality.

Don't worry too much about what's going to happen next; though we all wish to plan ahead, we don't. Umm... and maybe it's fine for you to reminisce. Whoever's calling you crazy for wanting to slow down or take a break is too sane for this world, lol! I just heard someone saying, “Be realistic!” Well, tell them this is not something that happens in everyone's reality. Refrain from taking unsolicited advice.

At this moment, your biggest project is you and your reality. That's where your focus needs to be. You need to feel your world crumbling down in front of your eyes (I know it can be intense for most of you), but with due compassion, I'm saying this: you need to feel it all. Let your soul transform with the fire that burns your whole reality to the ground for you to step into a new one. It may feel unfair, or you may want to save the precious memories. Do it. But give yourself time.

At the end you'll realize it's so little that matters and what matters means so much, but unfortunately people are missing the realization.1010 and 444 can be significant. I see the universe wanting you to trust in the ending and lean on God for support. Very soon you'll find your happiness and the joy of life. All that is happening is happening for you to realize that light has to rise after the dark.

There's no other way; this is the law of nature. Maybe some of you have found it difficult to have faith in God or experience divine blessings. If you ever asked, “How do I trust God? How can I realize God's blessings?” This situation is God's answer to you. God's saying, “Now you'll see me and experience my blessings.” I strongly feel that you're finding it difficult to believe in miracles or that something extraordinary can happen for you. Just trust. It's crazy to have faith at this phase of your life, but if you're nuts, you will make it to the end of the tunnel. God tests us in the tough times. TT: It reminds me of when Dave and I were trapped in the doomed timeline, and he left to change the past. TT: The timeline ceased to exist, along with my dream self, who in a way became merged with my dream self of this timeline. I kept some of her memories. TT: Is the situation similar? Similar, but more severe. Since this timeline will undergo such a violent upheaval, such a merger of memory cannot happen.

Unlike Future Rose, we're not merely fleeing a doomed timeline - we're resetting the timeline, the real deal.

If you squint, it kind of looks like the Davesprite situation, but the rules are completely different. This isn't a rewind, it's a reboot, complete with entirely new incarnations of John, Rose, Dave and Jade.

It doesn't sound like the original Players are supposed to survive the process - but if you pay attention to Scratch's phrasing, he doesn't actually confirm that it's impossible. He asserts that this type of memory preservation is impossible, but that doesn't mean there's no way for the kids to reach the reboot. I strongly believe that our endgame here will feature both iterations of the kids, allowing us to develop their personalities from two completely different angles.

I'd love to speculate about what Scratched!John and his team will be like, but I don't want another theory that's dead on-arrival. Let's wait and see if Rose learns anything more about the reboot first.

TT: So if the Scratch isn't specifically meant to banish Jack from the session, TT: And our quest to destroy the sun is meant to kill him, TT: Why is the reset necessary at all, especially if it means oblivion for us? Whether they should actually want to make a universe isn’t exactly a trivial question. Rose is a little too emotionally compromised to consider it, but I’m not.

For starters, what if their universe is an awful place? Alternia is proof that Sburb's universes can be complete dystopias. We have no idea if Alternia's creators intended for the Empire to exist, but the fact that it's even possible should make any Sburb Player very, very nervous about releasing a new Genesis Frog into the cosmos, lest it become another host for an intergalactic empire.

I suppose the question is kind of moot. The kids still need somewhere to live after the session, and I doubt their own universe is still an option. Their planet certainly isn’t.

Do you think the effects of the Scratch extend into the Furthest Ring? Surely not, right? Surely they're localized to the session in which the Scratch was triggered, lest a Scratch reset the entire multiverse.

Could it really be that easy? I guess it would normally be dangerous to enter the domain of the Gods unprotected, but Feferi's alliance should keep them safe. Plus, Rose has an accord with them herself. This feels workable to me - provided the Gods are willing to let our heroes influence the reboot.

My beautiful man who either is so down on himself that he laughs whenever someone confesses their feeling for him, acting as though he cannot believe the fact that someone can find him attractive. Or he is so hyped up on a confident front that he takes the confession in grace but overall clings to the person that just so happens to love him regardless of if he returns their affections or not.

My dear Kurt Wagner, who would be absolutely smitten with someone who laughs and loves as selflessly as he dose. But finds himself flustered beyond belief when it is turned to him. He might not think he deserves it but god damn it, he does.

That beautiful darling man, who would damn near cry if I told him that he is the affinity of being touched by heaven's light. If only I could tell him that his eyes were the sun at its brightest and his skin was the mark of where he came from. That he is not the byproduct of sin but rather a gift to humanity dressed in the touches of angels.

What I would do to hold his face in my hands and tell him that he is amazing in all senses of the world. what r ur thoughts on reconciliation between jason and bruce. is it really possible? what would it take? what would it look like? seen some stuff on my dash lately about that particularly thorny issue and would love to get your perspective. (hopefully this is the kind of ask ur looking for)

So realistically we're not going to see Jason reconcile with Bruce because a) everybody loves angst b) no one is talking about the ISSUE. 

The ISSUE is not the murder thing. Like. The murder thing doesn't help but it isn't the root; killing people is something Jason decided to start doing because it was something Bruce is extremely firm on. He stands by the 'no murder' thing even when his own life and the lives of others are in danger. He stands SO firmly by it, that if you break that rule maybe you can break the entire foundation of Batman, which is that things are never so far gone they can't be redeemed. Gotham is never so far gone it isn't worth trying to repair. We are not cutting the rot away we are building an environment which no longer collapses into rot around us, even if it is gross, demeaning, dangerous work. 

If Bruce killed the Joker in Under the Red Hood I think Jason would have been lost forever. Because it would've been proof that Bruce's most fervent beliefs meant nothing. If Bruce's hardest promise, that he would not kill, was broken so easily, then what does that mean about all his other promises? All the promises that he loved Jason and would never send him away? If his hardest promise can be broken, do those easy promises even stand a chance? 

I think the issue is and always will be: Did you love me? Do you love me still? 

All those posts about coming back wrong and unlovable, and what if I was unlovable the whole time and it was just that I can't even be bothered to pretend anymore? That's Jason Todd. He crawled his way out of his own grave an open wound and he is trying to convince himself that he's doing fine while actively bleeding. I feel insane reading some of the discourse because it's talking about Jason from the pov of his disenfranchisement and that as driving him in Red Hood and like. No! Jason is disenfranchised, he was failed by the systems, absolutely; I do not fucking believe he is doing any of this for people like him. He is saying things that validate his pain because he cannot deal with the enormous amount of pain he is in. He died and came back to life. He did it in a way people don't know or understand, or via Lazarus pit, which people condemn. I think to resolve things they'd need a god damn religious discussion to even start with, to ask Jason if he thinks anything that has died and come back to life can ever be good, or if it's just him. 

I think he must have had self-loathing and insecurity built up before his death and it Exploded when he came back to life several years later and saw from the out side people attempting to move on. This is not a victim blame because of course he had self-loathing and insecurity, he was a kid with a difficult childhood and you need at least five years to a decade to start feeling like someone else, who maybe has confidence and certainty. I think being Robin let him borrow confidence, and so like, probably did feel great! He had a script and a role to fill and he was given a lot of practice to do it!

I think part of the problem is that post-resurrection is Jason has to figure out who he is for the first time again, even older now. He lost some of his teen years in figuring things out. He has the life experiences of a 14 year old and then training under assassins and then like. Drug lord?? For a bit?? 

Jason is not fighting for the disenfranchised. He is trying to figure out who the hell he is and is bouncing around so many teams and timelines and shit that all already know him and know him as the dead kid that I think for him and Bruce to make up, like. He probably needs to have a job?

Not for money necessarily, because like. The Wayne fortune is right there. But I think he needs to go somewhere, with a schedule, for like at least six months in a row, and have something low stakes dependent on him. Like a dog or something. Maybe get involved in local theater. Take the dog to dog training twice a week and teach small children acting in the afternoons. 

And once a week or whenever they feel like it Bruce and Jason can have a phone call, and Jason can bring up what's happening at the theater and how the dog is, and Bruce can talk about Wayne Corp shit. 

And if Jason learns from dog time about someone who is mistreating an animal or a partner then like maybe he goes and steals a dog or tells someone to come stay over at his house for a while and gives them some cash. And after he does something rash he still needs to come back to his apartment and feed the dog and show up to the theater the next day. 

I think he needs to see the world around him when it ISN'T homelessness and assassins guilds and running out into the streets at night looking for trouble.

1. i'm choosing to say besides the throat thing that people hate (bc I get that. Bruce needs to say 'yes I was panicking and my writer was being dramatic I'm sorry' ) bruce doesn't beat his kids or any rogues in general once they're at a point they're no longer trying to kill/hurt anyone either. 

2. tbh I think the anxiety brainwashing is facinating and definitely something Bruce might have thought about but making it and using it is fully in 'I was also having a 3 day long mental breakdown' territory. However since Jason put a lot of heads in a duffle bag during HIS mental breakdown I think this might again be within 'yeah that was fucked up I'm sorry about that' territory.

Honestly I wish that Jason had gone to Bruce after the Selina 'making thieves pay 15% to charity' thing and they had just had the BIGGEST bitching fest about it with each other.  I think that, faster than literally any amount of relaxation and therapy, would have gotten them back on the same side. They need to get in a room together and just. Bitch about it. Jason saw the WORST adaptation the other day. Bruce is dealing with the MOST stuck up prick at the board meeting. 

Before they can fix anything they need to remember why they even loved each other. If they feel it again maybe they'll work to save it. But no one is going to fix a relationship where it feels like an obligation for a feeling you aren't sure even exists anymore.

I'm thinking about Viktor in the universe Ekko visited in Pretend like it's the first time. He's never mentioned by Heimerdinger, but Heimerdinger has been in this universe for a little under three years by the time Ekko shows up (which I assume is a similar point in time as where they are in the show).

(Sorry for how long this is gotten, I do tend to get carried away. CW for discussion of suicide and terminal illness)

As for Jayce, Heimerdinger mentions he never found Jayce in this world and assumes he traveled someplace else, but this means he also never found this universe's version of Jayce. I presume this means that he died by suicide after his trial, which was before our Heimerdinger landed in this universe. He could also have been exiled, but considering Jayce was about to commit suicide when he couldn't continue his research, I doubt he would have done any better if he knew he'd gotten a child killed.

Most likely, this means Viktor would have remained Heimerdinger's assistant. Based on s1 act 1, that assistant position seemed kind of like a dead end job Viktor remained stuck in, likely because no one else was willing to give him a chance. Since Heimerdinger doesn't mention him, and he doesn't show up for the innovator's competition or anything, I assume he's dead in this universe. He might have died much earlier, perhaps even before Heimerdinger arrived (therefore never considering his position in this world?). Viktor is not exactly mentally stable, and considering he didn't have Jayce in this universe, I think he would have been very lonely. He's so withdrawn, he doesn't really try to seek connection to other people, though I believe he does want that, he's just too used to people not getting him/looking down on him that he doesn't really try. He only really tried with Jayce because of his interest in Jayce's research, the personal connection came after that (and Jayce often takes initiative there). And it's possible in this universe, he died by suicide before he even got sick.

Or, and I kind of like this version of events, he lived long enough to get sick. I don't know when he would have died of his disease in the main timeline without the bombing, or if he should be dead already in this universe. I'd say he might still have lived to this point (I'm not sure of Ekko arrives at the point in time before, during or after the time skip in S2), but the start and progression of his disease might have differed due to differences in life. Isolation is really bad for your health, his mental state would have been much worse, and that might also have influenced how he took care of himself. So he might have died faster due to not having Jayce, but I still think this would have happened somewhere around the time our Heimerdinger was in this world.

That would mean Heimerdinger gets to watch Viktor get sick a second time, now perhaps even from more up close since Viktor still works for him directly. And perhaps once our Heimerdinger wakes up, he realizes Viktor can and should do more than just be an assistant, but at that point, it's already too late and Viktor just doesn't have enough time left. Perhaps Heimerdinger arrives knowing Viktor will die long before Viktor is diagnosed, and has to deal with that. And perhaps our Heimerdinger, who's spent time with Ekko and realized how bad life in the undercity really is, and how he's essentially looked away from it all, will realize Viktor's death is his fault. We're told Viktor's disease is due to the air pollution in the undercity, something Heimerdinger as head of the council could have fixed all this time. So he gets to watch Viktor slowly wither away a second time, this time knowing he could have prevented this, in both universes.

It's an interesting thought, because this would really emphasize to Heimerdinger that he cannot fail Ekko, his second Zaunite student, like he failed Viktor.

Things That Have My Attention in 4 Minutes Episode 4

Congrats to the Dome is Tonkla's brother truthers!

Let's talk timelines again. I still think we're working with two timelines, but I no longer think they're cleanly separated. Because if they were, you could not have some of these things happening concurrently. If we only had an Original timeline and a Redo timeline, then everything Great changes should be part of the Redo timeline. But in this episode Great saved Nan in the same timeline where Dome was dead, which we know because Great got Nan's location by getting Korn trashed after Korn fought with Tonkla over his abandonment in the aftermath of Dome's death. These things are all connected, so we can't cleanly sort events into one timeline or the other.

Which means it's most likely that the two timelines are bleeding together, making things unstable. This would explain Great's experience of overlapping moments last week, and Tonkla seeing Dome briefly before things went all weird and he disappeared at the end of today's episode.

By the way, it turns out those cold opens are not of the future--Tonkla has already done the murder in the same timeline where he's messing around with the cop. ETA: @my-rose-tinted-glasses pointed out that this is not necessarily true if the scene of Win getting the fingerprints and the phone call is also in the future. So back to square one on that!

Speaking of, what is up with Win? He is fully engaging in an affair with a murder suspect and doesn't seem to be investigating Tonkla at all. And I cannot let this pass without comment: why on earth did Win not put his pants back on during the long scene of him listening to Tonkla and Korn?! Was this really an appropriate situation to Winnie the Pooh it???

The flashback to Tonkla and Korn's beginning gave good context for why Tonkla thought he might be able to have more with Korn. I appreciated the details there: Korn was giving him money before they even had sex the first time and was lying to him about his intentions from the start, while Tonkla had zero experience when they met and didn't know how to recognize the signs of Korn's lies. Korn basically groomed this kid to be his sidepiece and has strung him along for years.

Tonkla definitely feels like a tragic character heading for a bad end, though perhaps he will also be saved eventually by the timeline shifts. In the timeline where Dome is dead and he's fucking Win, Tonkla is being incredibly reckless. I couldn't believe he just moved a new man into the home Korn pays for, he's gonna get caught.

I was grateful the show did not actually go all the way with Korn assaulting Tonkla, but it was clear he would have if Tonkla had not managed to distract him.

I continue to find the emotional tenor of Great and Tyme's scenes kinda weird. I don't understand why Great is so willing to betray Korn to help Tyme after just meeting him, I don't understand why Tyme revealed his face only to run away and then accused Great of being in on the conspiracy after already confirming he's not, and I don't understand why they were acting all blushy and awkward in that sex scene rather than leaning into the adrenaline high for a more sultry tone. They have been on one (1) date so the emotional investment is not really tracking for me for two experienced adults, but I can't tell if I am supposed to find this all weird and confusing or just go with it. It feels like the show just wants me to accept the shortcuts and buy into them as a serious romance, so okay I guess!

Speaking of betraying Korn, Great's plan was abysmal. He steals the information from Korn's phone (so considerate of him to spell out his criminal conspiracy including names and locations in one convenient text chain), tells Tyme everything without any knowledge of what his brother did, then walks right into an active hostage situation in his designer whites and shows his face to all Korn's goons. Korn is gonna know you did this, bro! Do you care?

It seems that Nan has a friend who was killed in a similar fashion to Tyme's parents, though I'm still curious how they connected and came up with this plan.

I still got nothing on this Lukwa connection. Why are she and Great the only two experiencing this phenomenon, and why did they see each other in this liminal space?

Also noting that there were several sex scenes this episode and no condoms or lube anywhere. I guess this show only depicts safe and realistic sex when they have a sponsor paying them.

Why I Write Future Trunks with an Eating Condition

As a fanfiction writer, I typically stay very close to a character's original traits and personality when I write about them, whether this is regular writing or yumeship writing. Most people have their own headcanons and what not about Future Trunks but the main difference between my Future Trunks and your Future Trunks is that I write him with an eating condition.

Now let me be clear, this is an eating condition not an eating disorder. Or basically its Disordered Eating vs Eating Disorder.

An eating disorder is a clinical diagnosis that often is accompanied by obsessive thoughts about food, weight gain, and binging and purging. Disordered Eating however, is defined as "abnormal eating patterns" that do not meet the criteria for an eating disorder. The main difference is the symptoms themselves and how often and how intense they are. People with disordered eating sometimes can't control their symptoms either, so instead of choosing to not keep food down, their body reacts and they cannot keep food down, but not by choice.

So now that we got that cleared up, I write Future Trunks with an eating condition, or disordered eating patterns, and this is all based off multiple official Dragonball media sources. I will go into detail below the line break!

Saiyans are known widely for the ridiculous amounts of food they consume, everyone knows that about them right? Our first discrepancy is in DB Kai when everyone comes out the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Goku and Teen Gohan began eating, and essentially he is amazed at seeing how much food they can eat without stopping. I believe there is a scene of him and Vegeta eating before as well, when Bulma gave them the saiyan armor. Trunks is a half breed exactly like Gohan and even Goten for this matter, so why is he unable to eat like the rest of them? It's their genetic DNA, its in them as saiyans and yet he does not show this behavior.

This leads me to my second media, Kakarot for the PS4/PS5. Of course as a Trunks fangirl/yumeshipper I spent a lot of the game and post game playing with him as my party leader. Every character in the party has specific dialogue for overworld actions like running into battles and speaking to other people. Goku for example, when he finds a golden fruit says "this looks like a delicious apple/peach/etc!" or when he catches premium meat he's like "we're eating good tonight! Can't wait to get this home to ChiChi". Now, flying around as Future Trunks and collecting food items, leads to an interesting dialogue if the food is any type of premium find whether it is fruit, vegetable, or meat (sorry I lost my video proof when I transferred over to PS5)

Future Trunks: I am very grateful for the opportunity of such a rare find.

....This isn't money or gems we're talking about. This is an apple. A peach. A rare onion. Heck even Golden Deer meat. And that's his response. So clearly, food, especially good food is a luxury in Future Trunks timeline, which makes sense, his world has been devastated and rebuilt more than once due to multiple villains. By the time West City is getting back on its feet in the future, another monstority is coming to tear it down. So good food is probably not an option. It's all about survival at that point.

And this leads to our third example which is the media in DBS which collaborates my theory. In the Goku Black Arc, they've been at war for a year. Trunks is noticeably smaller in body mass when we see him for the first time compared to Kai, and even the movies like Bojack Unbound. The first scene we see is Future Trunks in his refugee home, he feeds Scratch and then he opens a very small can of food and takes a few bites before giving it to Mai. The amount of food in the can is not enough to even feed a child, more a less a saiyan. My assumption is that as humans, our bodies are made to adapt so at some point his body probably got used to such a low intake of food so he could keep fighting. And knowing all this, the first thing he does is give it to Mai. It's obvious food and resources are scarce for the survivors at this point since everything has been destroyed.

Future Trunks then arrives in the past and is immediately taken care of by the others. Of course he has to stay in the past as they devise a plan, but it is shown to be a struggle even then as he has vivid PTSD episodes when he tries to sleep and spends his time training.

Our first eating scene in the Past (not including the senzu bean he was fed) is when Bulma gives Beerus the Fish Sausage to please him and to forgive Trunks for time travelling. Beerus, Whis, and everyone else immediately eats the Fish Sausage and Trunks is shown to be the last one to bite into it. Even then, everyone finishes the sausage but Trunks does not. He's never shown to finish eating it. If anything he seemed a bit hesitant over Beerus and the food itself which is understandable.

When Trunks meets Current Gohan after his studies Gohan brings him ice cream and the first thing Future Trunks does is say "I'm good" as in he doesn't want it. But Gohan keeps talking and begins to apologize so he ends up taking the chocolate ice cream. Gohan takes bites out of the ice cream (dang my teeth hurt) but Trunks takes very very small licks of ice cream, eating in a conservative manner almost or that eating when you don't really want to eat. He only starts eating in bites when Gohan tells him to eat up before it melts, to which he does.

The next time we see him eating is after he gets his change of clean clothes from Bulma. Beerus, Whis, and Goku are discussing who Goku Black's energy feels like. Trunks has a plate similar to his usual exact same size and immediately he joins the conversation leaving the food clearly half eaten/barely touched in the background. He never goes back to eat it either, his whole focus becomes on Goku Black. However at this point Goku has already finished his plate (of many probably) and is still eating even when they discuss the plan about Goku Black's true identity and he steals Beerus' food lol.

After escaping back to the past once again, they have dinner at Capsule Corporation with all the Z fighters. Everyone is eating at the table except Future Trunks who already has less food compared to Goku and Vegeta. Even though the plates are small we can rightfully assume they went back multiple times. Future Trunks does not start eating until he realizes he is being watched; Goku points out that he's not eating and Current Trunks of the Past is sitting next to him and watching him. Vegeta is noticeably watching him too probably for a number of reasons though. It is only then that he starts eating and consequently he starts, shoving food into his mouth as if to fit in with the others.

Lastly we have the scene where Vegeta uses the capsule to open a buffet of food for the underground refugees when they return to the future. It's a really large spread of food with enough to go around for everyone. All the refugees thank Vegeta and began eating; noticeably Trunks does not partake of this meal at all, despite there being more than enough for everyone. It could be plausible that maybe he just wasn't hungry at the moment but its hard to resist good food isn't it? Especially if it's laid out in front of you. But the feeling is different if you don't have a healthy relationship with food.

All in all, analyzing these scenes are the reason why I've concluded Future Trunks does not have a healthy relationship with food and his behavior shows signs of disordered eating.

He has all the markings and stresses that rightfully adds up to that too, look at everything he's been through. He needs to eat more food, he's an adult saiyan, and the opportunity in the past allowed him to do so and he still choose not to. Maybe it wasn't a choice, maybe he physically couldn't eat more, even if he wanted too.

Now this isn't in any media obviously but disordered eating comes alongside changes in BMI, nausea, exhaustion, a feeling of fullness, skipping meals, a form of purging, etc. So I often write him with these symptoms after a meal because it's apart of disordered eating (or having an eating condition).

Probably once the emotional stressors are relieved and his timeline is saved, Future Trunks can start to work on his relationship with food and make it more healthy. Which I also like to focus on.

Anyway thanks for coming to my TED talk about Future Trunks relationship with food. Anytime I see him eating whether its fanart or official media it adds 5 years onto my lifespan.

Also once again this is my personal findings, everyone has different interpretations and this is just mine! I like this angle because it works out because it teaches that not all battles can be fought with fists you know?

I'm going to be so fr. Lu Guang casually admitting he had a a father is amazing. So long of wondering what he was like as a kid, if he had parents at all, just for him to so casually be like "was 7 once. Had dad. Dad noticed powers."

Cheng Xiaoshi is having the same reaction I would have to learning I have powers. I, too, would believe I was an anime hero.

"We won't be able to bear the consequences." Sounds like they were definitely changing the past in the first timeline and were found out.
