#Cang Qiong peak lords

The idea's been brought up many times how SJ may not entirely be gone and is being used to power the system's easy mode and autoplay functions for SY, which I've been gradually coming around to because system is definitely not all powerful and can only have limited influence- after all it needed an agent/host in the first place and couldn't just take full control of SJ's actions when SJ's will was still there, and so on so forth-, so I imagine when that does happen, SQQ's eyes shift to a darker shade. He may or may not be aware though I'm leaning more on not aware because..... Well, that depends on how much angst you want to fit in that car.

Personally, I don't like the whole light and dark association for SY and SJ respectively, I definitely Don't buy to the whole Perfect Saint Shen Yuan, but I don't hate him either, I don't actually dislike any character, every one has their place, and also as a fan of Actually-Scummy-But-Not-In-The-Way-They-Think-Scummy Shen Jiu, I'm of the belief that preserving the self-centered and disassociated-to-the-point-of-careless-cruelty-and-selfishness modern guy Shen Yuan is very, very important. They're both a flavor of 'will not drop kick a baby unless-', like, if Qi-ge was in dire and mortal danger and the baby is a half-demon. and. if someone will set off a bomb and will only drop kick very lightly I swear. But I digress, I went off a bit here.

This is because a screen light's reflection makes someone's eyes lighter, right? Yes.

So my original idea kind of ended here but my phone was out of battery for a couple hours so that had the chance to simmer in my head.

Anyways, this is noticed by the other Peak Lords.

(This could be LiuJiu, with particular attention put in the Ling Xi Cave scene. Or MuJiu just because (I'm crazy about them). you know i am absolutely delighted by disciples era au. like, for the liushen potential, obviously, but i also can't stop thinking about a situation where sqq spends all of his free time trying to get evidence on sqh being a traitor, while sqh is frantically wondering wtf he did to piss sqq off so bad, because he certainly didn't write sqq having a huge grudge against the original goods!!

and eventually sqq does get definitive proof of sqh's traitorous behavior, only for sqq to discover that sqh is also a transmigrater. probably through sqh doing a harebrained scheme of trying to buy sqq's silence by offering to tell him his future.

and because sqh is a fellow transmigrator (even if he is annoying), sqq has to do a frantic dash to cover for sqh's misdeeds before sqq outs him even more than he already has. he bitches out sqh the entire time as he does this because he COULD have been reading the new installment of whatever fiction came out of xian shu this entire time but nooooooo, he had to waste all of his time chasing after this stupid author who isn't even a good spy and is APPARENTLY just doing the spy work to get some demon ass!! what kind of plotline is this?? of course it came out of the author who gave him the garbage he's stuck living in.

the funny thing is, this is actually what does convince people that sqh is a traitor. because sqq has been talking about his suspicions regarding sqh to the other future peak lords (chief among them being lqg, who obviously believed sqq immediately and has been his accomplice to this point), the complete 180 sqq does from trying to convince everyone that sqh is a rat, to him -- seemingly out of nowhere -- covering for sqh and spending all this time with him and talking in code (modern slang) with him, when everyone knows that sqq HATES sqh is soooooooooo sus.

in other words, everyone is now convinced that sqh is blackmailing sqq, because sqq actually found something to prove sqh's guilt.

and this results in a frantic quest from his friends (the other future peak lords) to try and find out what sqh is using to blackmail sqq so they can get rid of it. this does not go unnoticed by sqh, who demands that sqq fix the mess he got sqh into, and sqq tells him to fix it himself because he's the one stupid enough to become a spy to get some demon ass (which sqh points out is a gross inaccuracy of the situation, he hasn't gotten one iota of ass, not even a glimpse, do you know how difficult it is to pull that off in demon society which might as well not believe in the existence of clothes).

then system shows up and threatens immense bodily harm to them both if sqh is caught by the sect this early. so what are they supposed to do but begrudgingly work together to save sqh's ass so he can get some demon ass.

I want to read a SVSSS where Mobei Jun suddenly portals into a peak lord meeting, grabs Shang Qinghua with a growl "bedroom, now" and then the two disappears. All in all, Mobei Jun was in that room for less than 5 seconds.

Cang Qiong is shocked and appalled that a demon - a very powerful demon - had the gall to somehow break into Cang Qiong and kidnap a peak lord in front of their eyes. Worse yet, they didn't react in time and Liu Qingge wasn't at this meeting.

Mu Qingfang's analysis made the mood even worse: "the demon was clearly under the influence of aphrodisiac."

And then Shen Qingqiu's hiss of vindication solidified the horror and anger. "I told you he was a spy! Worse yet, he's married to a demon or about to get married into one because that looked like Shang Qinghua being a little too used to bride-napping!"

Meanwhile Shang Qinghua has no clue what's going on or why his king decided to break his spy cover like that. He's more like mildly terrified as he's getting pulled under the covers of a bed and told to take a nap. His little freak out becomes the world's biggest freakout when Mobei Jun climbs into bed right afterwards like holycrapwhatisgoingonisthisgoingtoendin-

Somehow Shang Qinghua is the last Cang Qiong peak lord to find out that he's married to a demon.

I’d like to agree with that one post that said Shen Yuan would absolutely mama/dada/gege beam the hell out of the peak lords.

Shen Jiu and Yue Qingyuan being absolute sticky sons for this 23 something year old cultivator and getting the baba they never had.

Mu Qingfang and Liu Qingge getting didi’d so hard they sometimes quarrel over who gets to be Shen Yuan’s special didi and fucking sulk when they dont get chosen.

Qi Qinggi being Yuan’s jiejie because he knows damn well that woman has more of an older sister who would chase you down the road and hit you with a frying pan vibe than a cute meimei.

Shang Qinghua just finds a platonic soulmate in his 1# hater and somehow becomes Yuan’s favorite didi? Shen Yuan never had a little brother before but if he did he knows he’d have the same mischievous and sneaky personality as Qinghua has.

The other peaklords become the chill rich uncle/wine auntie to Shen Yuan and are absolutely ecstatic that this weird looking guy is so chill and laidback.

I saw an Omegaverse fanfic, thought of SVSSS and thought, why not mix them both.

So I offer to the masses the idea of a Second Gender-less Shang Qinghua.

I have a vision that pre PIDW, he had written a lot of books before that, some of which I can imagine are Omegaverse fics

So why not have the PIDW world collide with the Omegaverse and just give everyone secondary genders.

Not Shang Qinghua though, he's special like that.

I imagine that for his formative years, he freaked out constantly regarding the day he presents his second gender. He was really hoping to be an Alpha or a Beta to spare himself the travesty and possible karmic retribution of throwing away his original plans for PIDW by experiencing heat as an omega.

As the years go by, and every teen in his village starts presenting, it just never arrives.

Everyone is clueless. They initially think he's just a late bloomer, then after half a decade of when he was supposed to present, he's still not showing any signs, people just slap the Beta label on him and call it a day.

Going with the flow and not causing a scene, he goes through the Cang Qiong entrance exam, and he gets in.

Most of the people of the sect are immediately off put by him.

For a starter, he is completely alienated to all things scent.

He doesn't give off a smell that any secondary gender has. It's like the equivalent of the taste of water, no flavour, just the scent of his nervous sweats and whatever he accidentally spilled himself with that day.

His stuff gets confused for unused supplies constantly, which is a real hassle, getting his mattress from storage whenever a newbie finds his bed and thinks it's an extra that was never used.

He doesn't seem to recognize scent either. Senior disciples have tried using their scent to drive off Qinghua like they do all juniors, but it doesn't work since he can't smell their haze of intimidation, forcing him to learn tells of behaviors through visual observation alone.

This causes him to become incapable of the process of scenting, unable to smell or be smelt. All attempts for his peers to give him a piece of their scent, it is ultimately washed off like dirt under the pressure washer.

In this scenario, it's the reason why he has never been caught as a spy for Mobei-jun. The King of the Northern Desert has tried to mark him with his scent to declare his ownership, but it fades by the end of the day at most. This frustrates Mobei-jun as he can't seem to get Shang Qinghua to make him his in this manner.

The other big thing is that he has none of the instincts that having a secondary gender would give him, a key one would be on the realm of romance.

My belief is that because of his biology, he was chosen to be head disciple.

The An Ding Peak Lord was going through performance reviews, found Shang Qinghua with no record on any sexually aligned misdemeanors, gets his work done faster, and thinks, "Let's make this boy my disciple."

Again, condolences to Mobei-jun, but I need him to remember that words exist cause his beloved is incapable of being courted by normal means, he needs to be told that you like him romantically or all attempts will go out the door.

I think about how in this AU, Shang Qinghua probably thinks he's a complete outsider that puts everyone off because he can't connect to them in the same way, but the rest of the Peak Lords look at him like:

"Hello, here is our socially inept sibling who we can't do normal ABO things with, but he's incredibly good at organising stuff, so there's that, I guess."

Qi Qingqi’s voice cut off on an extremely strangled note. She and the other Peak Lords all seemed unable to capture an ounce of oxygen.

Cang Qiong’s finest were gathered in a elegant war room, massive tables shoved to the side, covered with maps and intelligence reports: A mind-numbing amount of information scattered across sheaves of paper and neatly written on large boards; they spanned the walls not open to the serene nature of Qing Jing’s outdoors.

The murmuring of focused and purposeful Qing Jing disciples hushed at Qi Qingqi’s outraged exclamation and the sudden appearance of a majority of their shibo.

In the midst of the room, Shen Qingqiu stood, hands frozen in the action of sheathing a dagger to his inner thigh. While normally, such a sight would be arresting enough, it paled in comparison to the vision Qing Jing’s Lord made currently.

His eyes caught wide and surprised were rimmed with coal and rouge, claret lips parted infinitesimally. Gentle strands of hair framed his face and cascaded down his curved back. Hair ornaments tinkled and glittered in the silken black waves.

Delicate, airy robes flirted with graceful wrists, red lacquered nails making a pleasing contrast. Carmine and the tones of blushing rose danced about Shen Qingqiu, gentle fabric draping from his shapely frame; soft skin of his collarbones an–and the rounded mound of his, hi-his bust? Exposed. As was the refined line of sinewy thigh.

Shen Qingqiu’s hand leaves the handle of the blade, nebulous skirts falling back into place, his pale thighs veiled from sight once more.

“Qi-shimei, Liu-shidi, Zhangmen-shixiong?”– Shen Qingqiu's eyes quickly take in the numerous uninvited visitors, yet his lilting voice doesn’t quicken from its whiplike cadence –”To what do I owe the pleasure of a visit from Yue-shixiong and my shidimen?”

For some unknowable reason, Sect Master Yue and the Bai Zhan War God forsook courtesy for silence.

“Rather, to what does this Master owe my beloved sect siblings appearance,” the polished voice drawled, “ whose purpose is no doubt to meddle in the affairs of a Qing Jing operation? Without, may I add, any proper knowledge of the purpose of this operation to begin with?”

Mu Qingfang, who to this point was standing unobtrusively to the side, stepped forward, courteously greeting the Maste– Lady? Of Qing Jing.

His fellow peak lords prayed blessings, to be gifted such a level headed martial brother!

“These shidi apologize for the discourtesy, Shen-shixiong.” Mu Qingfang’s voice may have hesitated, or stuttered, and almost uttered ‘shijie’ but no one noticed because they were too caught up in their own lawless thoughts.

A Qing Jing disciple helpfully handed Shen Qinqqiu a fan. With a crack! It met his open palm, a gavel descrying doom.

Haloed in light, the Qing Jing Master stood like a wrathful goddess, a holy judge tired of the sullying presence of mortals.

Qing Jing’s Master, when garbed in his usual attire, was a sharp, intimidating figure. Graceful in his execution of masculinity, not unlike a dagger. Moreso, then, donning the mantle of femininity. Some intangible attributes changed, that when masculine, repelled, yet when feminine compelled. Those certain peak lords were unprepared to handle such a thing.

Shen Qingqiu tsked, turning his back he subsequently ignored them after hand-waving a disciple into acting as the hospitality.

The wrong-footed peak lords were bundled off to the side and laden with tea and light victuals, being appeased into silence and unobtrusiveness by snacks. If some of the scholarly disciples secretly thought of it as the kiddie table, that's for them to know, isn’t it?

i was thinking, after shen yuan has finally made it to the CQM, both for the protagonist and hopefully to cultivate a true human form, it's only logical to keep an eye on the scum villain, you know, to make sure that he isn't going to be filleted into a tender piece of crow meat!

but while shen yuan thinks he's being super inconspicuous, sitting on the roof, shen qingqiu has slowly started to look forward to seeing the crow when he comes back. it's always there, and overall a quiet and gentle creature that doesn't bother anyone, but does seem to like hanging around shen qingqiu's house. maybe in his head shen qingqiu starts to think of it as "his bird", and he starts leaving it bits of food (not obviously, but more like he "accidentally" forgot to bring the dish back inside). he starts getting protective over it too, like one time maybe yue qingyuan comes by and sees the bird, and tries to make it sit on his hand or smth, and shen qingqiu gets all huffy bc "it's just a bird it can't hear you, it won't come to you!"

shen yuan starts to notice that shen qingqiu's mood seems to improve around him (which, huh???), so he plays it up a little bit by flying down from the roof to the porch railing when shen qingqiu comes home, or cawing to him in greeting. shen qingqiu sometimes reaches out his hand to perch on, but though shen yuan never does, it doesn't make sqq angry (sqq knows how difficult trust is to earn), until maybe one day shen yuan surprises them both by perching on his arm, and oh well guess he's the scum villain's bird now??

YEEEEESSSSS JIUYUAN MY BELOVED!!!! Shen Jiu literally just takes Crowyuan with him everywhere after that, with the bird perching on his shoulder or on his arm, or in his lap - there have been many occasions where SY hasn't been able to get comfy so he hops into SJ's lap and uses the man's robes as a nest of sorts. This happens the most at peak lord meetings, because of course SJ takes SY to the peak lord meetings, it's his emotional support crow, and SY sometimes pops his head up from beneath the table and squawks (mainly at Shang Qinghua, who seems petrified of this bird). It gets better when he cultivates a true form because SJ is far too attached to him to let him go at this point, so he just has this beautiful crow guy following him around, clinging to his sleeves and hiding behind him like SY did in crow form before. Of course, he still tries to get comfy on SJ's lap and...listen, SJ lets it happen so it can't be that weird, right??!!? He doesn't like chairs!! They're uncomfortable against his back, and stools just don't cut it for him, so he often sprawls along SJ's legs and reads during a peak lord meeting - nobody quite knows what to say, and they definitely don't want to piss off SJ, so they just kinda let it happen. (Also, if they're enjoying the eye candy, then why would they try and stop it from happening?) Yue Qingyuan is half upset that he's being replaced by a BIRD, and also very pleased that SJ now has a close friend. Also SY just builds mini nests EVERYWHERE, like, all over the peaks, and god forbid you try and touch them because it will mean your death. He gets super mopey when he finds out that his nests have been touched because of course he knows, and when he's mopey EVERYONE knows about it. I like to think that SJ immediately throws all decorum out of the window at the implication of someone upsetting HIS bird...person...thing...WHATEVER!!!

MBJ kidnaps SQH cuz he's in love him but has no idea how to express it, while the sect it struggling trying to find their An Ding peak lord because no one else on the mountain know how to pay taxes. Meanwhile SQH is having the time of his life with his new hot demon boyfriend. And then the whole pomegranate thing happened, now he spends third of the year in the demon realm with his husband and the rest of it on Cang Qiong.

What if peak lords get hit by some artefact or pollens that deage them by some years, and only Shen Qingqiu turns into a teen or a child (but still in Shen Jiu's face) while other peak lords remain adults though maybe look a bit fresher?

The peak lords wonder why only Shen Qingqiu turns into a teen or a child. 🤔

Maybe it doesn't count the age while Shen Yuan was staying dead. Is the incidence before or after Shen Yuan self detonates though?

Maybe it counts the mental age and because Shen Qingqiu 'lost his memory' so his age is already lower than others. (Though I refuse to think other peak lords are that mature. 👀)

(Maybe because the artefact or pollens calculate from Shen Yuan's age which is younger than Shen Jiu, as in the soul occupying the body.

Maybe because there are? Were? both Shen Jiu and Shen Yuan in Shen Qingqiu's body, so each is deaged and the resulting deaging is doubled?)

Maybe an identity reveal if you like.

Maybe perished Shen Jiu's soul is rewound into existence?

Cang Qiong peak lords take a loooong time to get to the point where they are ready to ascend. They need to be at the right cultivation level, find a head disciple that they will appoint as successor, train up their successor, get their affairs in order, and the works. Some peak lords settle on their successor earlier. Some take much much more time.

An Ding peak though? They are all about efficiency. And so, intentionally or not, they were one of the first peaks to name a successor. Yes, that means Shang Qinghua is actually on the (much) older side for the Qing generation of peak lords.

That's also why most people don't bring up the whole incident where Shang Qinghua was the only survivor of a demon attack - most of them hadn't even join the sect yet.

Shen Jiu, Yue Qi, and Liu Qingge on the other hand? They are the babies, the last to join the Qing generation.

How big can the gap be? Like can it be a couple hundred years? Yes, let's make it a century or two of a difference.

Shang Qinghua can't help but see them as babies. He feels like a middle schooler watching the elementary students rolling around in the yard during recess. Although he tries to do his act of being a sniveling little coward, he feels a bit like a paternal not just because he's the author but also because he has a couple centuries on these kids.

And thus, the Cang Qiong sect really can't help but see Shang Qinghua as maybe a little elderly and delicate - certainly not someone dependable in a fight, but can you really expect grandpa to be whipping out a sword and fighting for you? NO! Instead, they are more than content to have elderly grandpa with his wise wisdoms, uncontrollable trembling hands, and sometimes questionable memory to always be trying to feed you more and stuff more expensive precious treasures into your hand (or sneak it into your house) because

that's just what grandpas do.

And Shang Qinghua is the grandpa figure of the Qing generation.

Need the peak lords forcing Shen Jiu to get drunk and trying to make him spill his secrets while intoxicated but he still refuses to answer, they only manage to ebb away bits and pieces of information that open so many more questions.

Like, Qi Qingqi keeps on pestering him about sex and women and brothels and tries to be touchy with Shen Jiu to unmask his true colours but he keeps on not getting the hint and not doing anything to her??? At best he's stoic, at worst he quite literally pushes her away, clearly uncomfortable, and is like 'why are you so obsessed with sex, stop talking about it, I hate sex' and bro the amount of question marks floating above everyone's heads…

Or the way he flinches at Liu Qingge's violent outburst, covering his face in reflex and stunning Liu Qingge so badly his anger immediately evaporates and gets replaced by confusion.

Or him exposing one of his chronic pains by accident and Mu Qingfang being 'did you hurt yourself shixiong? May I see?' And Shen Jiu dismisses him like “No need, I'm used to it.”

OUGH AND WEI QINGWEI BEING A LITTLE TIPSY HIMSELF pulls Shen Jiu into a bro hug and Shen Jiu flinches terribly, pulling away, and that makes the man offended and everyone like 'wtf he just wanted to hug you, why are you so rude and prissy and a bitch' and Shen Jiu stutters an apology because no, it wasn't his intention he just reacted on instinct and he'd actually like to be hugged. It was just too sudden and he can't stand unexpected physical contact… Not like he says any of that so they press him why he reacted like this and Shen Jiu hesitantly admits that Wei Qingwei can be scary because he physically easily overpowers him so Shen Jiu flinched back on instinct.

The man opens his arms then in an invitation and Shen Jiu reluctantly steps closer until his front is lightly touching Wei Qingwei's chest and his face is hidden in the shoulder of the larger man. Then Wei Qingwei hugs him tightly and Shen Jiu shakily reciprocates, hands grabbing onto the fabric around his broad shoulders while he tries to hide his face from view. And it feels so, so nice getting hugged by one of his martial siblings, despite the still present fear of vulnerability burning at the back of his throat.
