Y/n L/n is rarely seen walking the streets in public anymore, but that is changing following her recent breakup from longtime love Charles Leclerc.
The 12-time Grammy winner was spotted out and about in Rome just one day after her release of her new single, Reckless, which reflects on her past relationship with the formula 1 driver.
L/n was joined by celebs friends Zendaya, Tom Holland, Sabrina Carpenter, Bella Hadid, and Alexa Demie for a night out at Shari Vari Play House in Vía de' Nari, Italy.
The news of her breakup sent shockwaves on social media. Tweets and memes were made, with fans expressing their disbelief and grief
Rumors had already spread that Leclerc was seeing someone else the last few months of thosr relationship. L/n just made those rumors official last night as she delivered a tribute to Leclerc and his new girlfriend Australian Youtuber Lola Ransdell, sending the media to a frenzy.
The “Karma” hitmaker opted for a dress from Mônot’s SS22 collection, a black dress with cutouts across the chest and stomach, leaving little fabric between L/n’s collarbone and lower waist.
People on twitter are already calling this “Y/n L/n’s Revenge Dress Era” .
"Not @Y/nL/n wearing Y/n’s Version of 'the revenge dress'," one fan posted.
The ultimate revenge dress is, of course, the off-the-shoulder black Christina Stambolian dress that Princess Diana wore while her former husband then-Prince Charles was admitting to an affair with current Queen Consort Camilla.
Diana, Princess of Wales attends the Vanity Fair party at the Serpentine Gallery on November 20, 1994 Anwar Hussein
L/n kicked off her sold-out Eras Tour on March 17, and eagle-eyed fans noticed that Leclerc had been absent from her shows.
In case you're unfamiliar with the lore of YourShipName (portmanteau and couple name of L/n and Leclerc), you probably don't understand the distress caused by the news. For most, Leclerc is not even a household name, but for YourFandomsName, he's the titular Lover.

The Midnights singer and f1 driver started dating in 2016. Fans speculate they met at the 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix based on the lyrics of Reputation cut "Dress": "Flashback to when you met me / Your buzzcut and my hair bleached." Because, you guessed it, Leclerc sported a buzzcut and L/n’s hair was bleached.
At a secret session for Reputation, Leclerc reportedly told fans that the single "Gorgeous" was about her "angel boyfriend of one year." Other tracks off of Reputation like “Delicate," "Call It What You Want," and "King Of My Heart" are also thought to be about Leclerc.
Her next album, Lover, is also understood to be about Leclerc with songs like "Paper Rings," "Cornelia Street," "Daylight," and the titular "Lover."
During quarantine the couple started collaborating creatively. Leclerc surpassed his muse status and co-wrote Folklore tracks "Exile" and "Betty,"
Evermore songs "Champagne Problems" and "Coney Island, and most recently, "Sweet Nothing" off Midnights. Other tracks on her most recent three albums canonically about Leclerc include: "Invisible String" and "Peace."
While they opted to remain very private about their romance, the couple was hit with a slew of engagement rumors throughout the course of their ill-fated romance.
"I'm aware people want to know about that side of things," Leclerc told GQ in 2018. "I think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people."
L/n briefly touched on the privacy aspect of their relationship in her 2020 documentary, "Miss Americana."
"We decided together we wanted our relationship to be private," she said. "Even though [my public image in 2016] was really horrible, I was happy."
"But I wasn't happy in the way I was trained to be happy. It was happiness without anyone else's input. We were just... happy," the singer added.
The "Lavender Haze" songstress' exes famously include Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Pattinson, Fabian Frankel, Ben Barnes, Harry Styles, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

A pioneering female composer, Barbara Strozzi (1619-1677) defied the norms of her time. Unlike many women of her era, she was not a wife, a nun, or a courtesan; but an independent woman devoted to her music.
The heiress of the Muses
Barbara was immersed in music from an early age. Her father, Giulio Strozzi, an illegitimate member of the noble Strozzi family, played a significant role in Venetian musical life, writing librettos for major composers and poetry. Her mother, Isabella Garzoni, was Giulio’s longtime servant, possibly of Greek origin, as she was known as “La Griega” or “La Greghetta” (“The Little Greek”).
Unlike Nannerl Mozart, Barbara benefited from a supportive environment. Her father acknowledged her and provided her with a comprehensive education, allowing her to develop her talents from a young age. She trained with opera composer Francesco Cavalli, and by the age of 15, Barbara was already performing at gatherings in the Strozzi home. She possessed an impressive and flexible soprano voice, capable of singing complex compositions.
Her talent was widely recognized. In 1635 and 1636, composer Nicolò Fontei dedicated two volumes of solo songs to her. She also performed at meetings of her father’s intellectual circle, the Accademia degli Unisoni (“Academy of the Like-Minded”). Among the attendees was Giovanni Francesco Loredan, a supporter of feminist writer and nun Arcangela Tarabotti, who remarked that “had she been born in another era, surely she would have usurped or expanded the place of the muses.”
An extraordinary career
Barbara went on to publish her own compositions. In 1644, she released Il primo libro de madrigali (First Book of Madrigals, Opus 1), dedicated to Vittoria della Rovere, Grand Duchess of Tuscany, known for her patronage of female convents and musicians—a strategic choice on Barbara’s part.
Despite the dominance of opera, Barbara achieved recognition as a composer of chamber music. Her compositions showcased her vocal talent, though she sometimes wrote with other female voices in mind. Her songs explored themes of love, jealousy, joy, despair and sensuality. Most of her work was secular, but she also composed religious pieces in Latin—a unique accomplishment for a Catholic laywoman in early modern Europe.
Barbara’s work was more than just a portrayal of women as sensual temptresses; she also demonstrated a powerful and dramatic voice. An example of this is “Lagrime mie” (“My Tears”) from 1657, a poignant expression of a lover’s despair that fully utilized her vocal abilities.
Over her lifetime, Barbara published around 125 compositions across eight volumes, making her more prolific than any other female composer of her era. By 1656, her works were included alongside those of male composers in printed collections. While she did not perform publicly, her music has been preserved.
youtube
A troubled personal life
Barbara never married but had four children, at least three of whom were fathered by Giovanni Paolo Vidman, a friend of her father. Long-term concubinage relationships like theirs were not uncommon at the time.
The nature of their relationship remains unclear. An anonymous commentator wrote in 1677 that Giovanni Paolo had raped Barbara. This might seem contradictory given the length of their relationship, but societal norms of the time regarding female virginity sometimes forced women to remain with their aggressors to protect their reputations.
Through her work, Barbara was able to provide for her children. Giovanni Paolo died in 1648, leaving provisions for her and their children. Both of Barbara’s daughters entered convents, with the entrance fees paid by Giovanni Paolo’s wife, Camilla. Barbara rented a house from Giovanni Paolo’s brother until 1677 when she traveled to Padua, where she died of illness.

Belinda by Maria Edgeworth
I read Belinda because it is mentioned in Northanger Abbey:
“I am no novel-reader—I seldom look into novels—Do not imagine that I often read novels—It is really very well for a novel.” Such is the common cant. “And what are you reading, Miss——?” “Oh! It is only a novel!” replies the young lady, while she lays down her book with affected indifference, or momentary shame. “It is only Cecilia, or Camilla, or Belinda”; or, in short, only some work in which the greatest powers of the mind are displayed, in which the most thorough knowledge of human nature, the happiest delineation of its varieties, the liveliest effusions of wit and humour, are conveyed to the world in the best-chosen language.
I really liked it, until the last quarter. I will not summarize the story because it’s just too long, so check Wikipedia if you need an outline, but spoilers ahead. I am mostly going to be comparing Maria Edgeworth to Jane Austen, because that’s why I read this book, but I want to say up top, I did enjoy this novel, but I also can see and appreciate more what Jane Austen was working against and why she is heralded as such a realistic author.
Belinda, the main character, was the height of a Mary-Sue: perfectly good, perfectly disinterested, perfectly moral, and apparently very beautiful. I liked Lady Delacour far more than Belinda. She is Belinda’s mentor. Lady Delacour was a hot mess, she is addicted to laudanum; she hates her husband; she’s still pining over her first love who married someone else; she erroneously thinks she’s dying of cancer after fighting a woman-only duel in breeches; she made her husband so jealous he killed her supposed lover in a duel; she’s fascinating. And her early descriptions of how she’s shining in public but a mess at home reminds me of modern influencers. Belinda and her love interest, Clarence, “fix” Lady Delacour by reuniting her with her daughter and pointing out that her husband loves her.
Lady Delacour is also suspicious and irrational, she begins to suspect without evidence that Belinda is trying to secure her husband once Lady D dies. I liked this, Belinda is NEVER irrational! Give me some Emma always thinking the wrong thing, give me some Elizabeth and her prejudices. Belinda was just too perfect! The only problem with Lady D was that we got a 36 page info-dump of her entire past. This is something Jane Austen spoofed in Northanger Abbey and I can see why. It was very strange to read.
The novel was also disjointed in a way that Jane Austen’s aren’t. Aside from Lady D’s extensive backstory, there was a huge section in the last quarter where Clarence had (before the action of the novel) been trying to build the perfect wife out of a random girl he found in the woods. Yes, I know. And he is the hero and still marries Belinda in the end. But it was very strange to begin this whole new story so late in the game, though the forest girl had been referenced time and time again, so she wasn’t a new character, but it was still very odd.
The redemption arcs were also far less believable than Jane Austen, Lord Delacour is a raging alcoholic, but he’s fixed in like a week by his daughter coming home and his wife not being an absolute jerk to him. Lady Delacour is advised to wean herself off laudanum and apparently she does it perfectly because we never hear of a relapse. Lady Delacour even becomes friends with the woman she hated (Lady Anne) and gives up her seven year rivalry with Mrs. Lutteridge. It just seemed like too much in too short a time. And then despite these magical turn arounds, Belinda won’t believe it is possible for Mr. Vincent to turn his back on gambling (I mean, I’m with Belinda on this, but in this universe people seem very fixable)
There were some amazing and insightful passages which gave some great insight into Jane Austen’s time period. Belinda’s aunt, a reputed match-maker, talks about how women need to take the first opportunity they are offered or they might end up at 35 as a perpetual dependent (Charlotte Lucas explained). Belinda goes into this big discussion where she points out that gossip can force couples together before they really understand each other’s characters or risk ruining their reputations:
“But after a certain time- after the world suspects that two people are engaged to each other, it is scarcely possible for the woman to recede: when they come within a certain distance, they are pressed to unite, by the irresistible force of external circumstances. A woman is too often reduced to this dilemma- either she must marry a man she does not love, or she must be blamed by the world; either she must sacrifice a portion of her reputation or the whole of her happiness.”
This book did include an interracial marriage, but don’t get your hopes up. The black servant Juba portrayed was a caricature, especially in the way he spoke and he was nearly scared to death by someone impostering a cursed creature from his country. So, not great. But he was there and did have a happy ending. Oh, also, the character who employed Juba the servant also had a dog named Juba...
The finale was strange, Belinda barely spoke and didn’t actually accept her marriage proposal (though it is implied she did marry Clarence). The solution seemed pretty contrived. Lets just say, when compared to Belinda, I can see why Jane Austen is hailed as a realistic writer and I appreciate so much more her flawed and human characters and heroines.
Next up: Evelina by Fanny Burney
#summer reading interlude#I see what people mean by realistic now#Jane Austen#flawed heroines are awesome#still enjoyed Belinda

Hi, i can see that you've read Lucrezia Borgia: Life, Love, and Death in Renaissance Italy by Sarah Bradford and I would like to ask you for a favor. Is Drusilla mentioned in that book? If not, could you recommend some book where she is mentioned? Either way, thank you very much.
hi! if you're referring to cesare's lover, yes! she is briefly mentioned, towards the end of the book:
"Unmentioned in the archive list or in the list provided by the Ferrarese chronicler Zambotti was a woman named Drusilla, reputed to be Cesare’s lover. The only evidence for this Drusilla is an epigram by the poet Fausto Evangelista Maddaleni entitled ‘On the sorrow of Cesare for the departure of Lucrezia Borgia and Drusilla’. Cesare’s biographer, Gustavo Sacerdote, hazards a guess that this Drusilla may have been the mother of his two illegitimate children, Girolamo and Camilla, who followed Lucrezia to Ferrara."
but i recommend you check the book for more info!

TRIGGER WARNING: Mentions of violence, verbal assault, domestic abuse, child abandonment, death.
[KATIE MCGRATH] — Have you seen REGINA NOVAK walking around? They’re a 38 year old CIS FEMALE with SHE/HER pronouns. They supposedly live in PRIMROSE GARDENS and currently work as an OWNER AND COOK AT HIGH CASTLE RESTAURANT. Rumor has it, Rosecastle PD says they’re A PERSON OF INTEREST when it comes to the case. I guess that makes sense, considering they’re INTELLIGENT, LOYAL. Though, if you ask around, some would say they’re also MYSTERIOUS, VENGEFUL.
Baby #2 here! Love my angry lady please.
Regina Novak was born into a very stable, normal household.. or so it seemed. The Czech Republic was where Camilla and Daniel Novak had grown up and built their livelihood - both being very wealthy and able to support Regina and her twin brother.
Regardless of their financial support, the two were never home. Regina and her brother were left to take care of themselves very young, almost to the point where it felt like they were completely alone. Regina never had completely gotten over that feeling of abandonment.
It was clear from a very young age that Regina was a protege in the kitchen. She was talented and understood flavors better than some of the top chefs in Europe.
Not only were her talents clear, but her love for control sure was too. She frequently had outbursts when things didn’t go her way and didn’t want to play sidekick to absolutely anyone. That aggression was never awknowlaged by anyone, which caused it to get worse.
Her ticket out of such an isolating home life was culinary school. Her talent got her to school in Paris without much effort, where she went on to study French fine dining and under culinary experts. After college, her career skyrocketed and her name was being dropped all over the world as one of the most talented people in the food industry.
While she still remained very temperamental, it was part of her charm. People loved how spunky and passionate she was and viewers ate it up.
In the height of her career, she faced her first scandal. She married young: to French chef Pierre Augustin. Both had very powerful reputations and it rocked the culinary world when they first announced their relationship. Everything seemed picture perfect at first but after a verbal altercation was caught on camera and Regina was seen in public with a black eye the public realized - Regina was in an abusive relationship. The woman didn’t know how to get out, or if she ever would.
That was, until about two years into her marriage. The two got into a horrible car crash. Pierre was dead at the scene, but Regina was able to be saved. When the nurses told her about Pierre’s state, she didn’t know what to do. She didn’t cry, she didn’t laugh.. she just remained neutral. She was free. The craziest part was, Regina was driving the car.
It all truly came crashing down about five or six years ago, however, when she was judging a culinary competition on live television. A contestant had been just skating through at the bottom of the heap for several episodes and Regina had grown tired of it. When she wasn’t satisfied with their food, without thinking, she flew into a rage. She tore him apart. Not only did she verbally destroy the man, but when he tried to walk away, she proceeded to pick up the nearest object and attempt to throw it at him.
While the contestant wasn’t seriously hurt, her career was. The whole world had seen what she was capable of and she was thrown into anger management immediately. The show was canceled soon after.
When she finished her anger management program, she just wanted a fresh start. So, she left Europe for the States and found herself in Rosecastle, where she bought out the previous owner of High Castle and has been cooking there ever since.
Since her career really took off, she hadn’t been in contact very much with her family in the Czech Republic. Little does she know, her twin brother has made his way to Rosecastle to reconnect with her after her father’s recent death.
People have been drawn to the restaurant not only by the food, but it is clear in interviews that she is making a true effort to change. The true question is, will any of it stick?
FUN FACTS
She often speaks very quickly and with a thick accent.
Regina is bisexual, but she has not felt comfortable around a man since her marriage and she isn’t sure if that will change. She has had several recent high-profile relationships with women, but none of them have lasted very long.
Regardless, she does have feelings for someone (WANTED CONNECTION) but she is still trying to express herself emotionally. This, like Hope, has spawned a strong fear of commitment.
Regina, while her career took a downturn is still a very wealthy woman. She is able to afford her place in Primrose Gardens and lives a very comfortable life there.
Regina became a person of interest because of her somewhat violent past. Once she was taken in for questioning, her reputation had started to crumble again.
She trusts very few people. If she does trust you, it’s like you have your own personal attack dog.
Very flexible with connections! I would love to do all the plots with this baby. Friends, lovers, whatever floats your boat.

Personal Thoughts...
If there is something that has made me fall in love with Camila Cabello since I knew about her, it is her mind. She is physically beautiful, do not misunderstand me, but her beauty to me is not physical but mental. I love her mind and the way she plans her music, the steps she takes to achieve her goals. And thinking about my last post about her Grammy nomination for the circus collab I think I can get something else out of that. And with that I want to talk about the circus, but with a purely logistic and neutral approach. We all know that PRs are a means to an end. A great business. Taking that into account, let's think about Camila and her past statements that she hates PRs. That after Austin she wasn't going to do more PRs because she hated them. (I don't have any screenshot in my hands about what she said about the PRs but that statement was given in the Zach Sang show) So, if she hates doing PRs so much, why did she accepted Ewmila? Why did she accepted Shonmila again if she knew that even having the best friend as her PR was still a PR that she hated to do so much? Remember folks, PRs are a business and as such have their benefits and cons. Monetary benefit without a doubt, she wasn't going to make an idiot of herself for free. She is in business that means she knows what she can earn from it. It may sound ambitious in it but we all know that money unfortunately is important and I have always felt that the money Camila has earned has not been for herself but for the people she loves. Considering where she comes from, I'm sure she cares about earning money for her and for the people she loves because she doesn't want them to go through the economic difficulties they went through, so for me at least it's okay that she wants to secure a good heritage for her future. But I think the biggest benefit of the circus for Camila is the creative freedom we have been able to see in her new era. Without the fucking circus she could not have released a cover as LGBT as Romance
Without the fucking circus she would not have been able to have a collab with Ed Sheeran and sing over the green eyes that obsess her so much. Without the fucking circus, (and past circuses) the girls would not have been able to give us what they have given us. I think if I were Camila and being in her shoes, I would have said: I accept that shit if you give me something in return. One thing for another. They accepted. They accepted and the Romance era comes with all the rainbows of colors you can imagine. Except, that with the benefits, the cons also come. - Her image on the ground, as well as her reputation. Her haters have given the feast of their life with this circus and it is not for less, they have not come down her as a whore but it is something that was seen to come because it was the same thing that happened with Lauren in her Pryren circus. That all her music be related to the circus and lover boy. I think it's the part that Camilla should fuck the most right now. That all your work is related to someone who is not the real recipient of your music should be a fucking hell for anyone. We as Camren shippers can relate Camila's music to Lauren because she IS the real recipient of Camila's music and has been since CC1. I think we will continue to connect Camila's music to Lauren until she gives us no more signs of it. Personally, I think it must be difficult for her that her music and art be overshadowed by lover boy whenever she wants to release a single or have an important presentation, because who in her right mind would want that for her career? Camila has won more awards and nominations without carrying a PR on her back than having one and we have already seen that. - Make a fool of herself, when as fool she doesn't have a single hair (not pun intended). If there is something that has caught my attention this circus is that it has been ridiculous. Ridiculous until saying enough. Why? Why this constant need to expose oneself to criticism, not only of the general public who does not believe in the circus but of the other artists who see that "relationship" as a complete farce? They do it on purpose. The more ridiculous the circus, the less credible it will look but it will have what all the circuses look for anyway. Attention. Bad, good, for the shit hole everything is useful while talking about it. And the attention has gained it more than just because people talk about it but because the bastards made good use of the investment and have paid half the world to support the farce. And now they have a Grammy nomination that may be able to lengthen the farce or shorten it if the participants reach a point where they no longer want to continue with the performance. I think they will reach a point that they do not want to continue with the performance (as it happened with Ewmila) and send everything to hell to continue their respective careers. In Camila's case (because I'm not interested in lover boy), she could do it with Cinderella. The movie ad portas is a clean slate for a new stage in her artistic career, starting with the fact that her so ill-fated team could get rid of Lover boy with the enchanted prince Cinderella will have. (I'm not giving you ideas, Roger because in the end you do everything as you please so no, I'm not interested). The enchanted prince could be a strategy or extend the circus to the extreme or until the participants explode. An explosion would not be bad either
And finally, another humble advice folks. A tip to avoid the bad wave caused by circuses. Apart from ignoring them that is important. See circuses as a business. Not because they appear everywhere. We know how circuses work, see it that way. Emotionless. They are acting to get something in return. Ignore it but they are not capable but do not forget that as every business has an expiration date and sooner or later it will end.

* lawless paparazzi flashed photos of a 1961 ferrari 250 gt california spider pulling into the sparkling gates of quincy park , indicating that camilla of the prosperous kerby lineage has returned home . college ended for the transgender nb in 2017 , but they’re already flourishing in their field , proclaiming that their bachelor's degree in fashion design is being put to prolific use . the general public may be unworldly enough to believe that their accomplishments were earned honestly , but the people of new york city are painstakingly aware that it’s impossible to snag a top paying position as a fashion designer right out of university . the family’s been tormented with a well - known rumor that they fabricate news stories in service of their own agenda for years , so it was news to no one when the kerbys made local headlines claiming the only reason their self - absorbed progeny’s career is what it is because they have found a way to silence all the claims of camilla stealing other artists’ work . marie antoinette has done a splendid job of keeping the bloodline’s furtive truths confidential , but their reputation of being fun & gaining a postgrad inheritance of $450m hasn’t been enough to cease the counter blast from new york’s angry civilians . if they’re not heedful , not even quincy park’s sturdy golden gates will be capable of keeping out the city’s vengeance . BLURB —
extravagant rococo ideals and values flying in stuffy new english brownstones. new money midwestern bourgeoisie encroaching on a kingdom filled with waspy stalwarts of the old vanguard. ennui in the flavour of unending listlessness in a city that never sleeps and never changes. the banality of morality, of existence, of everything and anything. romanticism to fill the gap, romanticism to survive, romanticism to make it all mean something—and never mind the tragedy at the end of the chapter. opulence at the cost of authenticity, hedonism in search of an identity. always forgetting people, never forgetting stories.
HISTORY —
ever since the mid-19th century, the pulitzer family consolidated news in the midwestern region of the united states. they were wielders of the truth and proud journalists, dedicating a great deal of their money to the polish of their craft. unfortunately, in a capitalist system, money wins out and they were soon left beggared by their commitment to their integrity. it wasn’t until the 1950s that they experienced a resurgence through the help of a wily businessman who married into the family and used the prestige of the name to build a profitable news empire, building onto the foundations that was set and setting forth these new innovations.
these new innovations were less than popular, but it was very profitable: camilla’s grandfather pandered to populism and demagoguery, splashing front pages with sensational headlines and less-than-truthful speculation about certain personages. they worked closely with government agencies to shape the narrative in the midwest, engineering much of the red scare during the cold war. soon, the pulitzers themselves began to espouse much of the politics that was being peddled by their papers.
with their influence cemented, the pulitzer family at the ending of the 20th century wanted to expand their empire and decided to break into new england, a veritable fortress populated by well-established newspapers such as the nytimes, wapo, and wsj. although their fortune was considerable, it wasn’t enough to combat the foundation that the establishment papers have built—so they began to look for allies. they found it in multi-billionaire marcos edwin kerby.
and so they peddled off a daughter and a position at their company in exchange for substantial funding. the union, though not an overly joyous one, was one that was built on mutual respect for one another. lucy genevieve and marcos edwin were frank with one another: two children and then they’d be free to do whoever they want, an open marriage that resolved much of their issues and led to a happier-than-most upbringing for the two children they had, even if it was a bit unorthodox at the time.
camilla was born into this setting. the younger of the two, there was never really any expectation on them to pick up a career in news—which they didn’t resent as they found the politics and dynamics of it despicable, thinking that the company was a toxic presence in the political landscape. however, they kept their opinion to themself and kept their mouth shut, not wanting to cross their parents for fear of stoking their anger and becoming disinherited.
their passion, instead, was drawn to the arts. they were very artistic and would often scribble cartoons and the like—but their true love was fashion design. they fell in love with the designs of christian lacroix and dolce & gabbana, the extravagant clothes of the two fashion houses falling in line with their own personal aesthetics. it wasn’t long before they themself tried their hand at fashion design, and they found they had a knack for it.
with their father’s social manoeuvring, they launched their first show at the tender age of twenty-one while still in college. their collection was hailed as one of the best of the season and they were branded as a rising star in the world of fashion.
however, when next season came, they found that the pressure had got to them: they were blocked as what to design and, as the deadline day came nearer and nearer, the panic made them shut down even more. this led them to stealing a fellow student’s designs and showing them off as their own. of course, since they copied it wholesale, the plagiarism was blatant, but due to their family’s influence, the story was suppressed and camilla was now confirmed to be a genuine landmark moment in the world of fashion.
though they still make some of their designs, they find it easier to copy and modify to their heart’s content. at first, they excused themself saying it was only nerves; but as time passed, they had to admit that it was the lifestyle of constant partying that distracted them, taking up precious time that they could have put into working instead. camilla would often be seen at a club, luxuriating with fellow sybarites, and never minding the time. when time to sew up designs came, they’d resort to stealing and modifying others’ work, not wanting to cut down the time for their hedonism.
PERSONALITY —
electric dreams for a twenty-first century virtual teen, watching period dramas as a personality trait, watching marie antoinette (2006) and only noticing the pretty dresses, thinking you’re better than your family for being liberal and thinking you’re better than other liberals you’re not, like, an extremist or anything, actually being politically apathetic bc you couldn’t be fucked to follow politics, not knowing how much a banana costs, not knowing if you’re a millenial or a gen z and not even knowing the difference between the two, wouldn’t eat a tide pod but has that characteristic gen z despair at the experience of life itself, why bother doing anything when the world’s going to end anyways? might as well eat cake!
PARALLELS —
marion kerby (topper), marie antoinette (marie antoinette 2006), francis abernathy (the secret history), lord henry wotton (the picture of dorian grey), roman roy (succession), oscar wilde (real life: 19th century)

wip list
i’m hoping that by listing out all the things i want to finish, i will actually finish them. unfortunately this new job is still kicking my ass and i am exhausted all of the time + annual summer writers’ block + self-esteem through the floor = not very creatively productive.
if there’s a number in a bracket beside the fic, that’s my top 5 priority list/potential posting order. i’ve stalled out on a lot of these because they’re rare pairs and i’m not confident anyone will read them, which sometimes bums me out when i feel like i spend too much time on something/end up liking it a lot.
this list doesn’t include ofic, which is a much, much longer list.
>75% done
[3] retrieval (the rain, martin/simone), 4k -- post-canon angst fic in which martin is tasked to go back into the zone and rescue the remaining survivors. needs probably a complete rewrite, but all the plot pieces are there.
[4] a long way (game of thrones, jaime/myrcella), 14k -- canon-divergent fic in which cersei dies and jaime has to escort myrcella to winterfell to marry bran. just needs the last couple scenes and a final read-thru.
ace of spades (star wars, kylux), 62k -- modern au in which ben and hux are bffs to lovers. i started this in 2016 and then grad school got in the way and i haven’t picked it up again. i’m hoping episode ix gives me some inspiration to complete it.
~50% done
daisy chains (the 100, octavia/marcus), 14k -- modern au in which marcus is octavia’s step dad and she’s in love with him, side order of blakecest. i started this fic over a year ago and a lot of the aesthetic turned into training wheels, but it’s still its own story and i’ve been wanting so badly to finish it.
new girl (the 100, octavia/jasper), 4k -- high school au in which jasper and octavia start dating, but bellamy is annoying about it. unfinished km fill.
hacker au (the 100, bellarke), 2k -- modern au in which clarke is a porn addict and bellamy uses russian spyware to watch her get off. unfinished km fill.
just started but shows promise
[5] dares (the 100, bellarke), 2k -- modern au in which bellamy and clarke are step siblings spending their final summer together. i was given this prompt during my last prompt spree and i never finished it.
[1] vigilance (the 100, bellarke), 3k -- modern au in which bellamy and clarke are patients in an 8-week therapy program. just prompted a couple days ago. hoping to have it finished today.
not started
[2] tbd (the secret history, henry/richard) -- canon fic in which henry watches richard masturbate while talking about fucking camilla. prompted by @drawsaurus. i plan to start writing it after i post vigilance.
in the blood (the 100, bellamy/octavia) -- prequel to in the water. this one has been on my list to write for over a year. it was my very first fic idea for the fandom, and i think that’s why i haven’t written it yet. it’s so perfect in my head.
cruel intentions au (game of thrones, braime) -- 90s au based on cruel intentions. originally this was prompted for bellarke but it works so much better with braime. i’m not sure if i’ll end up writing this one because it seems like a lot of work, but i’m dying for more braime in my life.
eoe sequel (harry potter, albus/draco) -- the next installment of A Very Thorough History in which scorpius makes erised on the DL and albus finds out. maybe i’ll start this one in winter?
abandoned :(
only sharing to show how many ideas just don’t end up working, or turn into something else. i’m only going back to 2016 on this, up to ace of spades. i’ve abandoned a lot of fics prior to that, but since then i’ve gotten slightly better at completing stuff/figuring out quickly whether something will work out.
secrets to a successful sale (the 100, bellarke), 4k -- modern au in which clarke is trying to sell her house and bellamy is her handyman. abandoned because a lot of the themes are moving to vigilance and i have no idea how to end it.
storms (the 100, bellarke), 5k -- modern au in which clarke and octavia are best friends, and clarke has a crush on bellamy. abandoned because it later merged with daisy chains and turned into training wheels.
the ring (the 100, bellarke), 2k -- canon fic in which clarke lived on the ring for six years instead of bellamy. abandoned because i do not have the patience for longform canon fic, and i feel like this premise has probably already been written better than i could do.
virgin bellamy (the 100, bellarke), 4k -- canon divergent fic in which wanheda is a sex worker who gives bellamy the girlfriend experience. abandoned because it got way out of hand and someone ended up doing a very similar km fill.
river sequel (the 100, bellarke), 2k -- sequel to run me like a river. abandoned because a girl can only write so many noncon piss fics before she gets a reputation. also i don’t like writing pwp sequels.
within cells interlinked (blade runner 2049, joi/k), 3k -- canon divergent au in which joi is turned into a 7 series and is unwittingly k’s prison guard, but she thinks they’re married, as a means of imprisoning/torturing k. abandoned because it was too goddamn plotty, even though i think it has so much potential, and i really did want to finish it :(((
there’s a total of 125k unposted words here, but tbh this helped a lot to write. i thought i had a way longer list and had abandoned a lot more. i’m hoping to post the top five in the next few weeks to help push through my writers’ block.

biography !!
cristian amoretto and camilla silvestri had a romance that could be described turbulent at best, and downright explosive at worst
cristian, a native italian actor whose career began before he could walk, and camilla, the daughter of two italian immigrants with big dreams in a small town, met on the set of a coffee shop. their love story began quickly, dating within only a few months of knowing each other and engaged before the year was up
camilla walked down the aisle 6 months pregnant with lil’ baby apollo, who was then born in livingstone, vermont, aka the town that camilla’s family had settled in
was raised primarily by his mother and grandparents! his father was often off shooting movies, leaving camilla to take on the role of stay-at-home mom despite her own dreams of making it big as an actress
apollo grew up as a huge momma’s boy – i mean, god, he just really loved this mother, y’know? his relationship with his father was much rockier because of his … lack of being around.
when his grandparents died around the age of eight, that’s when things got…worse. it felt as if camilla’s parents were the only barrier between camilla and cristian’s budding wrath.
it became more apparent that cristian was not meant for the family life, his anger quick and his fists quicker, stinging words and venomous glares. a control freak who couldn’t handle camilla being independent.
this wasn’t apparent to the neighbors, or much of the town in general, because the amorettos were such a prominent family up in their beach-side mini mansion – it was hard to imagine that their life was anything but exquisite and dreamlike.
this was, of course, up until camilla filed for divorce and a restraining order in the same day, face bruised and nearly unrecognizable. she, obviously, got custody of apollo.
at this point in time, apollo was fourteen and…pretty stoked for them to get away from his father. they holed up southside and life continued as normal. for the time being. gossip swarmed apollo at school surrounding the circumstance which was annoying, to say the least. it led to him becoming withdrawn from the other students, not getting the whole … gossip appeal.
in hindsight, they should’ve moved out of livingstone. death threats in the form of letters and the eerie feeling of eyes constantly being on them came to a halt on apollo’s graduation day: the day that his father also, coincidentally, murdered his mother.
for making me miss out on years of my son’s life, was cristian’s excuse as he was escorted from the bloody crime scene at their apartment and into the police car.
cristian was convicted and sent to prison almost a whole year after it occurred. apollo still has dreams about testifying in court against his father as a witness.
and then apollo became known not as the son of two celebrities, but the son of a murderer. total bummer !
could not tell you why he stayed in livingstone, but he did. almost dropped out of college a good few times ( he isn’t passionate about graphic design, it’s more of him wasting time than anything else ) and spends most of his time raiding on WoW or competitively playing overwatch :/
speaking of college ! apollo was kieran’s roommate and like ... a close friend of his. the death hit him pretty hard b/c of his past.
lives in kieran but lately has been switching between his dorm and his childhood home - it’s technically his dad’s but he hasn’t been to his mom’s apartment in years. the mansion has become run-down and pretty grody, a sore sight that pisses off the neighbors.
he does identify as demiboy but he cares abt his identity like ... so little ...
personality !!
his main focuses are computers / video games, drums / his band, and like … skating … vaping … gamer things, y’know.
from a young age he’d always been very fascinated by video games, and being the Rich Boi ™ that he was, ended up with a whole lot of them to play, on a whole bunch of consoles.
but like … he’s a PC guy :/ he may have a super rare nintendo 64 or two but nothing can beat his dual-monitor set up with his hand-built computer !
he also got real into hacking, y’know, just small things like watching security cameras in different cities and occasionally changing his grades b/c like … who wouldn’t ? also … cheated in dark souls. fucking loser.
his favorite games to play are multiplayer games so !!
he joined a band in high school because he was angsty and young, and like, turned out to be really good on drums ?? they had like … some real big jimmy eat world / green day / say anything / old school fall out boy vibes. just a whole bunch of ‘fuck the government, fuck the authority, anarchy, rebellion, revolt revolt revolt’ angry rock music that got a buuunch of noise complaints during practice.
his role in the band is essentially the ~nerdy~ one, because he’s a gamer, but like he was also Edgy and Angry and wore all black like Constantly ( he still does who are we kidding )
probably paints his nails black and has a nose ring b/c gamers can be edgy too !!
huuuuuge junk food junkie. like … he will consume Everything and Anything unhealthy. has a huge sweet tooth, he can’t remember the last time he’s drank straight up water.
he’s pretty much a loner, minus his bandmates -- having a reputation like his really ... puts off others. wasn’t the friendliest person in high school either, which doesn’t help. kieran and him were kindred souls.
to be honest, he’s really selfish. thinks about himself first and foremost, considers it to be a method of surviving in a fuck-shit town with fuck-shit people. wouldn’t hesitate to toss people to the side if it were to ever come down to it. he’s not a faithful pal.
he’s ruthless, impulsive, does whatever he pleases because he assumes that everybody’s already got their opinion of him due to his father. hard to stop him when he’s on a rampage.
seething with rage on the inside. :/
uuhhh so he’s got this fucking…pomsky, right? her name is tulip. she was camilla’s before she passed away and like, what was apollo gonna do, huh ? put the dog in a shelter ? hell fucking nah. that’s his dog now. give that dog an emotional support animal certification and boom.
this isn’t like a Personality Trait but idk where to put it so ! apollo’s on antidepressants ( and other medications, but y’know. that’s just how it is ) b/c like … y’know … the whole dad-murdering-mom thing sort of fucked him up a lot ! they make him feel pretty blah and diminished his sex drive so like … hook ups aren’t really an option for him 99% of the time.
besides that he smokes a lot of weed b/c self medication.
he’s … sort of an asshole. like … he can be rude and he doesn’t have much of a filter and i don’t know if there’s any softness left to him ! he just really misses his mom and has a lot of wishes involving changing the past and he reacts badly to things because he’s so defensive and on edge constantly.
no but he’s just like. .. sad gamer boi … a man and his dog … who also carries like five knives on him.
like he’s not socially awkward or necessarily Bad with people .. he’s just bad with people :/ doesn’t try hard enough ! is a little too apathetic ! chaotic to true neutral
wanted connections !!
bandmates !! i’d envision that there’s four or five members including him. two electric guitar, one bass, one drums / keyboard ( that me -_- ) , anybody singing ... maybe a triangle player ! or a cowbell ! i dunno ! endless possibilities.
fans of the band mayb ?? try to seduce him so they can party w/ them after a show n apollo’s just like :/ nah ( or yah ! )
people he clashes with hardcore !! people who are one n the same.
uuhh ... big slut for enemies ! ppl he refuses to get along with or they’ve been on bad terms previously for whatever reason. :-)
alternately, people he’s trying really hard to get along with but it’s not working b/c he’s a shithead.
maybe an actual good, close friend or two !! y’know. so he’s not completely alone.
people he’s fucked over previously by ditching them / being unreliable / messy / etc.
besides close friends, someone who’s soft towards him or vice versa. because as much as i love angst, i love the uwu too.
ex-flings, ex-fwbs, ex-hookups, etc. etc. ex-gfs/bfs. especially from high school.
people he’s known all his life ! childhood friends, childhood enemies, old rivals, etc.
people who like ... stayed away from him / distanced themselves after his dad’s arrest. :/
okay but like ... imagine, okay , some sort of high school romance where he used to sneak into their room / sneak them out, n then they’d like. go wild out. y’know like, parents Hate him.
ppl who end up on one of his benders / night time adventures / whatever chaotic shit w/ him.
a hook-up gone bad could b fun !
gaming pals. gaming enemies.
skater buds ! vaping buds ! stoner buds ! apollo owns like three juuls.
someone he’s good friends with ( maybe ?? potentially developing Feelings at the same time ) but apollo fucks up their friendship / possible Something because that’s just what he Does.
somebody who thought tht like ... his childhood home was just Abandoned and Empty so they started breaking in to like. get high or fuck or whatever and apollo just walks in one day like ... what are u doing.
someone who caught him dealing juul pods to middle schoolers and was like ... what are u doing. idiot.
idiot reckless buddy pals !! wreck shit together !! burn couches !! chaos !
literally i’ll take anything sdjnfkmgh

50 MK’s Jekyll and Hyde Facts
The story was originally slated to end at book 1.
Emily was originally slated to become Hyde’s sidekick.
The Jekyll hair trait was inherited by Jekyll’s grandfather.
The one character who is not black and white is Hyde meaning that unlike everyone else, his skin, tongue and gums really are gray because he is a troll.
Mrs. Carew is absent from the series because she died giving birth to Nellie.
Jekyll is 41 while Hyde is 30ish.
The one thing Jekyll and Hyde share in common is their eye prescription because the eyes are the windows to the soul.
Paul Dini’s Batman the Animated Series heavily influenced my style and how I write my story.
Utterson’s wife Camilla is a witch and he married without requiring her to convert to his faith.
Jekyll and Hyde are Protestants, but very forward thinkers.
Emily is studying to be a doctor like her uncle.
Jessica Rabbit heavily inspired Lucy’s look.
The moment Hyde nearly runs over a girl is an Easter egg to the original novel in which he intentionally runs over a girl just to be mean.
Hyde is a huge animal lover.
Hyde loves clothes and has been known to steal fine suits.
Hyde hates vandalism and thinks it is a self destructive crime because you could have stolen what you ruined.
Hyde drinks but he would never ever take drugs.
Jekyll is actually very active and plays sports.
Jekyll is bad at art and his singing voice is dreadful.
Lucy Harris smokes cigars, but not on the job.
Lucy is an amazing poker player.
Poole has no living family left.
Jekyll can speak French, German, Spanish and even some Italian.
Biggs is a gnome and he is skilled at lock picking.
Tyler is a foxman which is something like a wolfman.
Jekyll’s favourite tea is earl grey.
Hyde’s favourite tea is rose.
Poole has known Utterson since he was a boy making their relationship almost familial.
Nellie is actually a good student.
Carew only drinks red wine.
Jekyll used to be quite the gymnast.
Jekyll actually took time to teach Louis to be polite.
Louis was actually raised by Jekyll since he was a chick. He incubated his egg and then hand raised him.
Louis is 20 years old.
Louis was a project Jekyll did in school for study in behaviour.
Jekyll keeps all his baked goods under glass domes because Louis is naughty and eats them.
Jekyll keeps his alcohol in the safe because he discovered that Hyde drinks it.
Hyde’s drink of choice is bourbon.
Jekyll’s drink of choice is sherry.
Hyde’s favourite food is roast beef really rare.
Jekyll’s favourite food is a toss up between chocolate cake and meat pie.
Jekyll is crazy about vests and bow ties.
Jekyll adores scented flowers and cologne. Maybe his nose has something to do with it.
Jekyll’s life growing up was sheltered yet distant. His parents put him through boarding school and they were not very attentive of him as they were concerned with their work and parties. To this day, they pretty much have no relationship.
Jekyll’s grandparents were the loving parental figures in his life, but they passed away five years before the Hyde Formula.
Dr. Lanyon always was resentful of Jekyll because of his money and because he was the more brilliant man. Even in school, he was an indirect bully.
Emma still tries to get back together with Jekyll, but he refuses to have her again not because she cheated. It was because she blamed him for it.
Emma is kind of desperate now because her reputation got ruined by her own doing for having the affair and because it turned out that the other man was a crook who ditched her.
Lanyon is never coming back.
Someone will die in the series and it will happen in book 2.

On the characterisation of Fiyero
Fiyero’s characterisation relies a lot on the actors that portray him, particularly in Act I. Bearing in mind the limited stage time, the emphasis on lines such as ‘life’s more painless for the brainless’ and 'those who don’t try never look foolish’ in Dancing Through Life is, at least to me, crucial in conveying the fact that despite his seemingly perfect life, he is honestly unhappy. I think the same goes for 'well, I’ll say this, she doesn’t give a twig what anyone else thinks’ - he says it jokingly, a throwaway comment on the school outcast, but he admires her for being strong enough to stand on her own two feet without using a facade as a crutch, for fashioning her own weapons out of insults and determination and aloof sarcasm to fight back against the endless harassment, and is a little jealous, too. He’s not brave enough to weather the storm on his own; he cares too much what people think of him, even though it’s damaging.
And he kind of has to. He's a Prince, after all, and the level of scrutiny paid to royals is ridiculous, especially here in Britain. For example, Kate was recently in the news for - shock horror - getting stuck in a traffic jam, on her way to picking George up from school. Also hitting major newspapers were Charles and Camilla's bedrooms, William's new haircut, and the royal mince pie recipe. Truly brilliant journalism, right?
Fiyero was raised a royal, which in my mind is part of the reason why he acted out. Being born into such a huge responsibility would never be easy, especially if he didn’t want to rule in the first place, and this was part of his life over which he had some control. He didn’t ask to be in this position, and he probably would’ve been expected to act as an adult at a young age. The responsibilities would have smothered him, leaving him to search for an escape.
(This happens with celebrities in real life, even teenagers, and more so with the rise of callout culture.)
Being royalty would’ve distanced him from most people his age, and there would’ve been the inevitable gold-diggers and sellouts, whether they were friends or lovers. He grew up ironically lonely. As well as royalty, he was also raised as a politician, well-versed in the arts of negotiation, lying, and masking true emotions. He was never able to truly be himself, to let go of formalities or expectations. His 'scandalacious reputation’ preceded him like a red carpet, and with money, alcohol, parties, and the plethora of women at his beck and call, a great deal of people would’ve expected him to love the attention it gave him - and wouldn’t have understood in the slightest if he said it was incredibly stifling, that he hasn’t eaten a vegetable in a year, that he’d really like to sit down and read a book or finish that sketch he started a long while ago. It was a vicious cycle, one he would break if only he knew how.
It's also likely that as the reigning monarchs - that aren't the figureheads the British Royal Family have become through the years - his parents would have had a staggering amount of duties and engagements, which could've distanced them from their son whether they meant it to or not. In times of tragedy, of insecurity, of dramatic upheaval, where would Fiyero turn?
As I said, he’s not as strong as Elphaba in that he can’t just not care what people think of him, and after flunking out of numerous schools, his parents would’ve been disappointed in him, to say the least. They would have doubted his ability to rule, and after a while, so would he. He would look at the complete mess he’d made of his life, and wonder how the fuck he could get it together enough to lead an entire country. He believed he was too far gone to be saved, to break the endless chain. He’s adored by the public, and it’s a victory, even if the victory is hollow.
Royal status doesn’t mean he had the best life. Money doesn’t mean he had all he could ever want. Power doesn’t mean he had a voice that can be heard. After all, a comfortable life doesn’t provide immunity from tragedy, from strife, from the trials and tribulations that others face. A comfortable life can still be empty.
These little glimpses into his true feelings and personality don’t have to be glaringly obvious - to be honest, they’re better when partially concealed, as if the facade slipped for a mere few seconds before settling back into place. Over the course of the musical, they grow more and more obvious, until everything is on the line and the facade finally falls to the floor.
I think part of the reason that he falls for Elphaba is that she can see through this facade like it’s made of glass - and what’s more, she accepts who he is underneath. She knows he isn’t happy with his life, she knows he’s more than what he pretends to be, and isn’t afraid to tell him so. Besides that, she knows what it’s like to be lonely, to have to pretend like you don’t care. To have to protect yourself from falling apart, if not for yourself then for the sake of others. Over the years, she hardened herself to the tirades of harassment, of bullying, of abuse, but her heart isn’t made of stone. She has green skin; the remarks and actions from others about that wouldn't have slid like water from a duck's back.
There was a reason why Elphaba’s famous line of ‘no, you’re not, or you wouldn’t be so unhappy’ was emphasised. That exchange in the Lion cub scene is basically Fiyero trying to prove to both Elphaba and himself that he is nothing more than what meets the eye, that life is truly nothing more than parties and sex and drinking. His 'genuinely self-absorbed and deeply shallow’ line is a very obvious lie, and Elphaba doesn’t hesitate to call him out on it. Underneath the light, funny words, he’s clearly tired of keeping up the pretense, but somehow Elphaba is the only one to have seen through it, and he’s taken off guard. She’s the only one that cares enough to do so.
Even later, in Act II, he couldn’t let down the facade. He was trapped in a gilded cage, bound by the expectations of the intolerant, cruel, and manipulative society in which he lived, used as a pawn by Morrible, and made the leader of an organisation whose primary aim was to capture the woman he was in love with and kill her - or worse. Definitely a lot worse. What’s more, he had to do it with a smile on his face. He wasn’t happy - not when he was painting a picture of himself as the perfect prince, and not when he was on the balcony in Thank Goodness - but he had to solidify his old facade, the very one that Elphaba saw though without even trying, and make it a reality. If anyone noticed the cracks in the foundation, then there would be serious consequences.
It’s not until the pivotal Throne Room scene that Fiyero is at long last able to stop pretending. Though perhaps able is the wrong word; it's not like he's left with an easy option to take. He’s presented with an inevitably disastrous situation - and he follows his heart, does what he knows is right, even against the imminent backlash. He could've pretended that he didn’t remember Elphaba, that he never had feelings for her, that he believed that she was wicked - even if he broke both of their hearts in the process. Not to mention that if he did, it's unlikely Elphaba would've lived.
But he didn’t, and breaking years of metaphorical shackles can’t have been easy, especially with so much at stake. He found the strength to not care what the public thinks, to find this strength and solace in the woman he loves. In As Long As You’re Mine he looks so much more comfortable than he ever did before, thrown under the spotlight with every move scrutinised. The difference from Thank Goodness, where he was obviously uncomfortable and unhappy, is massive. The line 'you’ve got me seeing through different eyes’ is more than loving her past her non-conventional beauty, but that she’s opened his eyes to a new way of living. He doesn’t have to put his happiness last, he doesn’t have to pretend, he doesn’t have to live for everyone except himself. For the first time, he's allowed to be Fiyero, rather than His Royal Highness Prince Fiyero Tigelaar, or the arm candy of Glinda the Good.
It hurts him to see Elphaba in pain, and hurts him to have to let her go again. So he doesn’t. He doesn’t, and ends up saving her life. Somehow, I think he’s happier with his sacrifice in the cornfield scene than he ever was in the Emerald Palace. He did what he knew was right, even while knowing that he gave his life to do so. Arguably, this is Fiyero's moment of glory; the point where he shines brighter than the moonlight from the previous scene. Had Elphaba been caught, it would've been game over - for everyone. It would've dealt a massive blow to the Animals and the Revolution as a whole, it would've ensured Morrible remained the puppet-master of Oz, and it would've had a disastrous effect on both Glinda and Fiyero. In sacrificing himself, he saved Elphaba, and as a result, saved the Revolution and the hope it inspired.
He was no longer afraid to stand against the dissent of those he used to bend over backwards to keep happy, and the old facade, having been dropped in the Throne Room, was never replaced.
The mirroring of the 'it’s not lying, it’s looking at things another way’ exchange in the Finale is very important to me (as is the first appearance of said exchange, in all honesty), and marks a new era in their lives, one where they can learn to be themselves, to not put on a show for the sake of someone else.
At last, they were unlimited.

Most Scandalous Divorces
https://www.grunge.com/235489/the-most-scandalous-divorces-in-history/
Julius Caesar and Pompeia
While Caesar served as high priest of Rome, his wife Pompeia (granddaughter of Sulla) organized a women-only festival known as the Bona Dea, but a political opponent disguised himself as a woman and infiltrated, attempting to seduce her
Scandal → many believed Pompeia arranged the festival so she could carouse with her lover → Caesar divorced her to save his reputation
Emperor Constantine VI and Maria of Amnia
Constantine VI ruled as emperor from 780 until 797; he divorced his wife, the popular Maria of Amnia, and married his mistress Theodote even though divorce was illlegal
When Constantine further infuriated everyone by punishing clergy against the divorce, his mother Irene orchestrated a coup in 797; she had her son blinded, and he died of the injuries
Charlemagne and his second wife (Desiderata?)
Charlemagne king of the Franks married the woman in 771 in order to forge an alliance with the Lombards and the pope against his own brother; however when his brother died he did not need the alliance any longer and simply sent Desiderata back to the Lombards, which greatly insulted them and caused decades-long conflict in the region that eventually came under his rule
Henry VIII and first wife Catherine of Aragon
Catherine of Aragon had been the wife of Henry's older brother, Arthur, who was just 15 when they married, and died only five months after the wedding
Catherine insisted marriage was never consummated, and married Henry in 1509
By late 1520s, Henry was unhappy as Catherine had failed to bear him a legitimate male heir, and he’d set his eyes on the younger Anne Boleyn
Needing an argument to justify the divorce, Henry decided, 20 years later, that Catherine had been lying about her time with Arthur → however Catherine and the church did not agree, so Henry created his own church
Willmott and John Bury (1561)
Couple unhappy with each other so they went for annulment by saying their marriage had never been consummated because John was impotent following a horse kick
Annulment was granted and both remarried, but John caused a scandal when he quickly fathered a son → episode resulted in new legislation that voided annulment if the husband proved to be sexually capable after the fact.
Charles and Diana
Married in 1981 and divorced in 1996 because Charles had always been in love with someone else, which he admitted in 1994
Diana had been so suspicious of Charles' affections for Camilla Parker-Bowles that she almost called off the wedding

I mean she eventually talked about her lovers there but camilla was there before during and after the whole marriage, long before diana searched people outside the marriage. He was wearing her gifts in their honeymoon for gods sake. If you really think abt it, diana only started having affairs after harry, when the marriage allegedly "ended" for both of them.
Also, yes, that interview was made to put her into a good light, as well as anything the royal family does, it's all about the looks and the reputation. They were gonna drag her after the initial separation regardless, she better make it worth it. And it was. From this day, every couple of decades we are reminded what she went through and that's why the royal family will never manage to get pass her. Everything is documented, they can't hide this like they hid family members. Every generation will know this, every country. And that's great cause i looove royal drama love seeing those people suffer.
“I hated it when Diana stated that they were three in her marriage to Chales. Three? What about all your lovers, darling? She knew very well how people and the press would treat Camilla,(she and her children have been humiliated and insulted for years and for Lady D it has never been a problem) while none of her lovers received a similar treatment. Over time I just realized that interview was just a farce to get out well after the divorce.” - Submitted by Anonymous

The British royal family faced significant milestones and challenges during the two decades.
The crown can be a heavy burden to bear, and the 1960s and 70s were challenging decades for Queen Elizabeth. From tabloid coverage of Princess Margaret’s affair to Prince Charles’s affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, the royal family entered the spotlight like never before. When disaster struck in Aberfan and a miner’s strike plunged London into darkness, Queen Elizabeth was tasked with restoring calm and order to a changing nation. Here are seven of the biggest moments in Queen Elizabeth’s reign in the 1960s and 1970s.
1. Princess Margaret’s Controversial U.S. Tour
Lord Snowdon, first lady Mrs. Johnson, Princess Margaret and President Lyndon Johnson pose for photographers in the Queen's room at the White House on November 17, 1965, prior to a dinner-dance in honor of the royal visit.
By 1965, Queen Elizabeth’s sister, Princess Margaret, had established her reputation as the royal most likely to court controversy. So Elizabeth II was playing with fire when she sent “The Royal Lightning Rod” on a three-week tour of the United States.
The trip came at a tense time in U.S.-U.K. Relations. Prime Minister Harold Wilson and President Lyndon B. Johnson were at loggerheads, the UK was in debt and in need of American approval for a loan and America was embroiled in the Vietnam War just as Britain was shedding its colonial holdings.
The trip began well enough. Margaret and her husband, Antony Armstrong-Jones, Lord Snowdon, rode the trolley in San Francisco, rubbed elbows with celebrities like Judy Garland and Alfred Hitchcock in Los Angeles, rode horses in Arizona and danced with and Lyndon B. Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson in the White House at a spectacular dinner that roared on until 1:40 a.m. But other late night hijinks on the trip raised eyebrows— as did its astronomical cost of £30,000. The princess was banned from making future official U.S. visits.

2. Aberfan Disaster
On October 21, 1966, nearly 140,000 cubic yards of coal waste had slid down a rain-saturated manmade mountainside in in Aberfan, Wales.

On October 21, 1966 a tsunami of black sludge rushed from the hill above the Welsh mining town of Aberfan, engulfing entire buildings and destroying everything in its wake. Over 140,000 cubic yards of coal waste from the mine fell that day, killing 144 people—most of them children whose classrooms were in the path of the runoff. Television crews capture a village in mourning, and an outpouring of support for the families of Aberfan ripples across the country.
Queen Elizabeth traveled to Aberfan to meet with the families of the victims...eight days after the incident. The Queen's private secretary, Lord Charteris, said later said that one of her biggest regrets was not arriving in Aberfan sooner.

3. A Royal Documentary
A film camera records Queen Elizabeth II having lunch with Prince Philip and their children, Princess Anne and Prince Charles, at Windsor Castle in Berkshire in 1969 for the documentary "Royal Family."
Long before the Kardashians built their reality TV empire, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and their family were the subjects of a documentary inviting the public to get a glimpse of real-life royalty. Television was a relatively new and powerful medium with a reputation for making or breaking political careers (just look at the televised Kennedy-Nixon debates).
The 105-minute color documentary, “Royal Family,” was broadcast across England on June 21, 1969. The unscripted film was an attempt to humanize the royal family and introduce the public to Queen Elizabeth’s 21-year-old son, Charles.
Though Elizabeth was a reluctant participant, the public ate it up. Over 30 million people tuned in for the premiere across England, with viewers so riveted to their screens that they caused a water shortage at intermission as toilets flushed across London.
A month later, Charles was invested as Prince of Wales at Caernarvon Castle while TV cameras rolled. The public was hungry for more of the royal family—a hunger that tabloid journalists and photographers were eager to feed.

4. The Moon Landing
Queen Elizabeth II with Michael Collins, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin at Buckingham Palace on October 14, 1969.
With the Space Race in full swing, the world watched breathlessly as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969.
The two astronauts carried a message from Queen Elizabeth, which had been embossed on a disc alongside messages from 72 other world leaders that was sent to the moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission. It read: “On behalf of the British people, I salute the skills and courage which have brought man to the moon. May this endeavour increase the knowledge and well-bring of mankind.”
Upon their return, the astronauts stopped at Buckingham Palace as part of their world tour, meeting Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. The meeting was famously awkward; Armstrong was suffering from a terrible cold and inadvertently coughed in the queen’s face repeatedly, prompting her to raise her hands in mock surrender.

5. When London Went Dark: The UK Miner’s Strike of 1972
The scene outside St. Stephen's entrance to the House of Commons when crowds of striking miners reinforced by members of other unions ended their march across London on February 15, 1972.
It was a strike so massive, it left London in the dark for days. When the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) couldn’t agree with the National Coal Board (NCB) on a wage increase for coal miners, all hell broke loose.
Starting in January 9, 1972, over a quarter of a million British coal miners went on strike. Their numbers swelled and occasionally grew violent following the death of miner Freddie Matthews, who was killed by a lorry while picketing.
The seven-week strike was the first official strike since the 32-week strike of 1926 and had been brewing for some time. As coal mining technology changed and the demand for coal decreased, mine workers had seen their wages fall behind in relation to other industries. Their desperation helped fuel their determination to not back down when the National Coal Board refused to meet their demands.
On February 9, the government, led by Prime Minister Edward Heath, declared a state of emergency. A three-day work week was declared to cut down on energy consumption. Lights were shut off at schools and shops and offices went without heat. At its height, citizens of London went up to nine hours a day every other day without electricity.
Growing desperate, Lord Wilberforce set up an inquiry into miner’s pay. The strike ended on February 25, 1972, when an agreement on wage increases was reached. The success of the strike—which was spearheaded by activist and NUM member Arthur Scargill—helped to topple Prime Minister Heath's Conservative government.
6. Princess Margaret’s Affair
Photos of Princess Margaret and Roddy Llewellyn while on holiday on February 1, 1976 in Mustique, West Indies.
On February 1, 1976, tabloid photos emerged of Princess Margaret swimming off the coast of the private island of Mustique with a man 17 years her junior: 28-year-old Roddy Llewellyn, a landscape gardener, aristocrat…and her lover. The tabloids attacked Margaret as a cradle robber who spent the public’s money partying and portrayed Llewllyn as her “toy boy.”
The public outing of Princess Margaret’s affair ended her unhappy marriage to Antony Armstrong-Jones, the First Earl of Snowdon, whom she had married on May 6, 1960. Though her husband, who traveled often for his work as a photographer for the Sunday Times, had been having multiple affairs out in the open, it was Princess Margaret who was censured.
Their breakup was one of the iciest recorded breakups in history, with Armstrong-Jones going through Margaret’s secretary, Lord Napier, to end the marriage. When Lord Napier called to tell Margaret that her husband was leaving her, she responded: “Thank you, Nigel. I think that's the best news you've ever given me.”

7. Charles and Camilla
Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker-Bowles pictured chatting after a polo match, circa 1970s.
Prince Charles reportedly met Camilla Shan at a polo match Windsor Great Park in 1970. The 23-year old prince was instantly smitten, but their ensuing relationship was complicated.
Before Charles, Camilla had been dating retired British Army officer Andrew Parker Bowles, who then started dating Charles’s sister, Princess Anne.
As a commoner and one with a public dating past, Camilla was viewed by the royal family as a less than ideal match for the heir to the crown. (Though for the next generation of British royals, Prince William and Prince Harry, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s status as commoners were not seen as an obstacle to love.)
It is speculated that Charles’s godfather, Lord Mountbatten, arranged for Charles to join the Navy to separate him from Camilla and open the door for Charles to date his granddaughter, Lady Diana Spencer, a match Queen Elizabeth also favored.
While Charles was in the Navy, Andrew proposed to Camilla. The two married on July 4, 1973 at Guards’ Chapel in the Wellington Barracks.
Charles would go on to wed Princess Diana on July 29, 1981, though his love story with Camilla Parker Bowles was far from over.

Dear Taylor,
August 3rd and August 4th now have a special place in my heart.
Exactly one year ago I attended my rep Tour shows in Toronto.
I’ve been seeing a lot of posts on here lately of people mentioning the one year mark of their Rep tour, knowing mine was coming up soon. Being a very nostalgic person, this makes me so emotional. The reputation era means so much to me, and I my mind doesn’t quite realize that it’s over. I feel like it was just a month ago. It’s crazy to think of all the things that happened since then.
Seeing where I am now and where I was a year ago, I do see the impact you had. I decided to get help after seeing you. I will forever be thankful for it.
I recall how I first got tickets only for Saturday night, the second night. I was already planning on driving to Toronto on Friday morning as it’s about 8 hours away from where I live (in case you forgot, Canada is extremely big) and the thought of you being in the same town as me and not going to see you just seemed wrong. I eventually bought tickets for the first night and turned out it was a good thing because even if they were cheaper, they were better placed (on the floor). I’m so grateful I went to both shows! Even if it’s technically the same show, I had two totally different nights.
This week I listened to the audio of you signing Out of the Woods at my rep show in Toronto and I had tears in my eyes. It’s one of my favorite songs and it still amazes me that you chose to sing it as the surprise song at my show: I still fill so incredibly lucky for it since I wasn’t able to go to the 1989 tour and see you perform it live.
On second night you blessed us with Come Back…Be Here. I mean, what more could I ask for? And then, Bryan Adams shows up on stage for Summer of 69 (I swear the dad who accompanied the little girl beside me suddenly went crazy!!!).
Every time I here …Ready For It I get chills thinking of when you got on stage in the dark building up all my excitement. Every time I here Gorgeous I think about your cats animations on the screen. Every time I here Look What You Made Me Do I think about that boat and the amazing choreography and KARYN. Every time I here Delicate, I sing 1,2,3, let’s go bitch. Every time I here Shake It Off I think about your rainbow dress dancing and twirling with Charli XCX and Camilla. Every time I hear Dress I think about you black dress and those angels dancing all around. Every time I hear Don’t Blame Me I see your arms stretch and your head go back (I filmed the entirety of this performance and I know it by heart). Every time I here New Year’s Days I automatically add part from Long Live in my head. Every time I hear Getaway Car I think of that slide dance move. Every time I here Call It What You Want I think of your smile. Every time I hear This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things I feel a boost of energy and I think about you jumping on a fountain. Every time I hear So It Goes… I think about leaving the show (but somehow it doesn’t make me sad).
I can’t even find the words to describe how I felt and how I still feel about the tour. That whole weekend is my best and favorite memory of 2018.
I am so excited that another tour is coming so soon because I honestly crave one of your shows.
To celebrate this one year mark, I will crying watching the Rep tour movie, cause there’s no better way to do it.
PS: 20 days until LOVER (!!!!!)
Love,
Anne
