OC Introductions

Okay. To pair with Beauxbatons fic, From Now On, The Greatest Show series now has another addition, a Durmstrang focused fic called Come Alive! This is also @cecexwrites fault she helped with things. (Tagging @daughter-of-melpomene and then @randomestfandoms-ocs who also wanted me to have a Durmstrang fic)

Romulus Balan (Archie Renaux FC), Lenore Han ship. Never quite been one for the discipline of Durmstrang, Romulus is excellent at Transfiguration but not as great at dueling and other forms of martial magic. He does go to Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament but he was more interested in seeing another school than trying to enter.

Lenore Han (Jessie Mei Li FC), Romulus Balan ship. One of the most hardworking students at Durmstrang, Lenore is extremely gifted at martial magic and does have a temper, but she is also extremely loyal to her friends and has a lot of expectations to live up to. She does go to Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament and was planning on entering.

Velimir Gregorovitch (Nicholas Galitzine FC), TBD ship. Part of the Gregorovitch wandmaking family, grandson of Mykew Gregorovitch, he has been taught the art of wands for many years. He isn’t the best student, but his connections and skill in the Dark Arts are enough for him to be in one of the few clans at Durmstrang. He probably goes to Hogwarts for the Tournament I'm still deciding.

Misha Gagarin (Freddy Carter FC), TBD ship. One of the most unfriendly students at Durmstrang, there are rumors his family had been supporters of Grindelwald, but Misha himself doesn’t care about the wizard. He is in one of the clans at school and puts his name in for the tournament at Hogwarts, he is well adept at potions and used to be on the Quidditch team before suffering an unfixable injury

Elsie Burke (Lana Condor FC), Emilie Cayard ship. Durmstrang’s resident potions master, she even outscored Misha, much to his chagrin. She is part of the Burke family, of Borgin and Burkes in Knockturn Alley. She is familiar with many of the Death Eater families as a result, but she has no plans to follow in those footsteps and intends on working at St. Mungo’s to help people. She does go to Hogwarts for the Tournament.

Constance Nielsen (Jenny Boyd FC), Karline Eckardt ship. Very skilled at martial magic, constantly in completion with Lenore for the best spot in school, Constance has always held herself to a high standard. She has always been determined to be the best student Durmstrang has ever seen and nothing will stop her from achieving that, including having dated Misha before his Quidditch injury. TBD if she goes to Hogwarts for the Tournament but she probably will.

Jurica Lazarov (Jordan Connor FC), Lisette Cayard ship. One of the better duelists of the school, but he's not super well disciplined despite the teachings of Durmstrang. He is often the reason for his classes facing punishments, leading him to have a less than stellar reputation amongst his fellow students. He does not go to Hogwarts for the Tournament since he is not allowed to.

Barnaby Travers (Eli Brown FC), Daphne Greengrass ship. One of Durmstrang's Quidditch players, he replaced Misha after his injury, although he isn't the strongest player. He tries to take care of his sister Camilla though she seems to do more of the caretaking, and he has been approached about joining one of the clans by Velimir because of who his father is. He does visit Hogwarts because Camilla is.

Camilla Travers (Ciara Bravo FC), George Weasley ship. A Durmstrang student with high Ministry aspirations, she is very outspoken against her father, although she herself does have a certain talent for the Dark Arts the school teaches. She is not very interested in sports but she goes to Quidditch games to support her brother. She goes to Hogwarts for the Tournament to make more connections and was planning on entering before learning she is too young.

Marius Marcovici (Luke Newton FC), Nymphadora Tonks ship. Both skilled in Transfiguration and one of the top Quidditch players in the school, Marius is at the point of his life where he is finally nearing his graduation and yet has no clue what he is going to do with his future. His family, too supportive Purebloods who truly don't care what he does as long as he's happy, hasn't given him much direction. So, he attends Hogwarts for the Tournament, hoping the new surroundings will finally inspire him.

18 and 30 for the Fates Ask Game? 👀

#18: Favourite VA performance?

This is another one of those questions that got asked more than once, so I’ll just pick maybe two to start with!

First one that came to mind is Connor Kelly-Eiding as Felicia, and maybe I am biased because as we know Felicia is my blorbo, but I would argue that Kelly’s performance is part of the reason why. A lot of the voice actors who really stand out to me are the ones that hold nothing back and just commit to the role. They’re in there and you just know they’re working everything they have to bring this character alive. Though she has only had a small handful of roles, Connor Kelly stands out to me as someone who always does that. Felicia of course is my favourite example, where she is able to catch that awkward, nervous giggle and the wavering of a voice of someone who is kind and gentle but so unsure of themselves. She understands the balance of each part of the character, which I think isn’t necessarily super easy to do, because one could write her off as just flighty or just clumsy or something, but she ends up having a lot of depth in Connor’s performance. She talks with a sweet disposition, which she does have, but she stumbles, she makes little silly noises, she doesn’t talk super confidently — to the point where she’ll speak in little fragments or in one big burst just to get it all out. Connor’s performance recognizes that Felicia, in many ways, is a silly character — but she’s also cheerful, loyal, and genuinely trying her best. I just felt that her performance showed a lot of respect for the character that she was playing. Though not as strong, I have similar feelings about how well she committed to Setsuna as well. There’s even a NPC in Echoes that she voices that shows up periodically, and it’s the same thing: total commitment and okay, who is this person? She captures it very beautifully, and honestly, I would love to see her perform in more games and shows… Fire Emblem or otherwise!

Another voice actor that I found really enjoyable in this case was Travis Willingham as Garon. As Garon in English is a little more on the cartoonish side, I feel like that’s kind of a hard role to stick the landing on, but Travis’s performance is very grounded. He manages to deliver the lines in a way that sounds appropriately linked to the dialogue he has to read, but maintains a tone that is threatening. You don’t end up completely losing any sense of what you’re supposed to feel in the line because it’s very direct in its evilness. I find it very satisfying to listen to him deliver “You disappointed me, Sumeragi…” each time, because you really do get the sense that yeah, this a directly-evil, not-hiding it villain… but it still has that flair of something that sounds quite genuine. Again, it’s the actor really giving themself in their entirety to whatever they’ve got going for them, which I find really compelling. I think these two are great examples of performances that really stand out in the game to me!

#30: Two characters who should have had a support together?

Oh boy, there’s a whole set. There’s of course a short list of some that I think pretty much everyone does: Flora/Jakob and Scarlet/Ryoma to see more of that because why does FE love to do the half-a-romance thing, as well as the big sisters with the little sisters and the big brothers with the little brothers. I know it was gendered and whatever but I didn’t like that, so I would want to see more of that. Give me Camilla doting on Sakura, dammit! Also: Flora supports. It is painful to be an Ice Tribe twins fan because yes, Felicia is my favourite, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to see more of Flora!!

For one that I feel I could probably go more in-depth on, I’d have to say Ryoma and Charlotte, both for the comedic and the political aspect of it. From the comedic perspective, he’s the wealthiest man in Revelation, surpassing even Charlotte’s own future king, so you can’t tell me she wouldn’t be all in on that. Combine in knowledge of Hoshidan misogyny, and she might sincerely believe her little blushing beauty act would work. Then from the political aspect, Charlotte is a perfect example of food scarcity and money problems in Nohr. Can you imagine how infuriating it would be for her to learn that Ryoma doesn’t actually really know much about Nohr’s scarcity problems? It would be a great opportunity to elaborate on the character aspect as well, because I know some people have some debate about whether he’s being honest when he says he doesn’t know. It presents Charlotte a great moment to really emphasize her personal values and what she needs, and makes Ryoma more well-rounded by confronting a negative part of himself. Family means a lot to both of these characters, so I think discussing how the financial problems between the two countries have put strains on Nohrian families would be an interesting thing to do, from both a character-building and world-building perspective.

Another set that I could see being really appealing is just Gunter and any of the Northern Fortress kids. Considering his fate in Revelation, I feel like having the support conversations would help everything hit worse. I know it’s not everyone’s favourite plot point, but I feel like the emotional value behind his betrayal could be upped by reminding the audience that there are people just beyond Corrin who have been harshly betrayed, too. These conversations due exist in Japan-exclusive DLC, and honestly, they’re delightful! Felicia calls Gunter “dad”, if memory serves Flora confides in him, and he and Jakob fuss at each other in a way that proves that they care (even if they’re still at odds). I’d have loved for that to be in the main story, or even have those conversations exist in DLC and then throw in some new supports for the game, because honestly, building the little Northern Fortress Family helps flesh out the world.

You know we’ve talked so much about the NJ crew (Lucie, Connor, Lio, Mack, Sav, and David).

But we’ve never really talked about Livy really having any friends outside of her family. Like I would love to see more of Livy finally finding her own people and support system out side of her family.

Part of this is because Liv is with that same group of NJ people while she is in school, but she spends so much time getting caught up in Luca and his career, that she doesn't have a ton going on for her outside of that. Even with being consumed by Luca, she doesn't get close with any of the other wives and girlfriends in MN because she is rarely there long enough to make those connections.

We know she has her good Columbia friends- Harper and Camilla. They stay consistent friends for her in her life. Then she had Ryder, and some other Islanders players, but after everything that happens, she distances herself from those friendships. She also has a few friends from Switzerland, but they never come to the U.S. to visit her. It's always friends she sees when she goes home during the summer.

For Liv, her friendship circle blossoms in LA! A new team, with new personalities and traditions. They are so inclusive of her immediately, even when she goes back to Columbia to finish up school. They all still text her, check in, and give her huge congratulations for graduation! They send her the playoff swag, even though she is still in NY for playoffs. She also has her masters program friends in LA! So not only does she have a great group of girl friends from the Kings, she then has a variety of friendships that form from UCLA.

California is where Livy thrives and grows into a confident, successful woman.
