and of course, we mustn't forget about the Incredibly Lesbian practice of gifting a blade (let's not pretend we haven't all wanted to be proposed to with a gilded dagger), or swearing your own in service to your lady, that whole thing is sapphic

let's not forget the forging, the making of the blade, the pounding of metal in the workshop, in solitude but for the steel and its song. I don't think there's anything more ace

An open window in your bedroom letting in the crisp musky humidity of the late night sky billow into the apartment, mixed with the comforting warmth of your bedsheets and the soft ambiance of the city life below. It was a relatively quiet night, not to mention your notifications. Not a single text or mention in hours, leaving you purely alone with you and yourself.

You take a deep breath and relax against your array of pillows and blankets, scrolling through your instagram feed as you start to feel your eyeslids grow heavier and heavier.

Then, there was a post that caught your eye, causing you to pause in your mindless scrolling with your thumb hovering over screen.

"What?" You thought to yourself as you suddenly felt all remnants of your exhaustion disappeared in an instant. You sat up a bit in your bed, propping yourself up on one elbow and squinted your eyes against the brightness of your phone as you tapped on the post, realizing it was only made an hour ago.

Upon further inspection, you found something you didn't notice at first glance. There was a girl in the picture you didn't recognize. Surely they would have told you if they were bringing in new members, right?

You simply sat there in your own silence for a second, letting your mind whirl with all sorts of unanswered questions and being left to overthink in your own head. You were planning on leaving eventually, but would this really be a way to go out? By replacement? It at least gave you even more of a reason to get out of there, but you couldn't deny the small tightness that grew in your chest and the sudden dryness in your mouth as a small ball formed in your throat.

You let out an involuntarily heavy inhale as you swiped onto The Scouts group chat, typing out a short and quick declaration of departure before staring at the message for a moment, your phone gripped tightly in your slightly trembling hand, body overflowing with emotions.

You finally tore your eyes away from your phone screen, not even realizing the tears that were threatening to leave your eyes as your tear-blurred vision drifted over to your nightstand where the 141 business card sat, the familiar jagged fonts and bold lettering reminding you of the night at the bar when you met the manager of the band, some man named John Price. You decided to simply sit on it for the night, letting yourself sleep on it. Nobody is ever in the right headspace to be making decisions when they're upset, are they?

And just like that, you placed your phone gently onto your bedside table, slowly lowering yourself into bed and pulling your blankets over your shoulder, the strong pang of betrayal purging any sense of logicality in your mind in the moment that you're simply hoping will pass in the morning.

First season wrap up:

Okay, to start, i should mention my general opinion on first seasons for shows, especially cable shows, is not to read too much of it as canon. The writers, producers, actors- everyone- are all trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t, so i give them latitude, particularly when it conflicts with later seasons. That being said, i do enjoy jumping through the hoops to make it all fit haha

So heres a few leftover notes i had as i revisited the eps to rank them:

I bet part of Lassie was craving the father figure in Henry, since we find out later his own father passed away when he was quite young. I wonder if thats part of the reason why he became a cop, as they are portrayed as the protectors and in the 80’s they were mainly men (i don’t really remember if he states his reason later, i suspect he did and im just not remembering). So when Henry didn’t meet up to the expectation he had in his mind, i bet it hurt a little more as it reminded him of what he lost :/

I think the other reason Shawn plays dumb so much, besides hiding his genius so ppl believe hes psychic, or for laughs, is because its how he gets people talking. Like in Shawn vs. the red phantom, he purposely guessed the wrong room number so the boys would correct him. My apologies if someones pointed this out before, i haven’t combed through the internet for everyone’s theories 😬 i only now noticed. I’m not the quickest at picking these things up lol

If i had to guess, Shawn didn’t want to be a cop for halloween, he probably wanted to be something star wars related to go with Gus’s Lando. So i wonder at what age Shawn stopped trying to please his dad. But also, why didn’t his mother ever stand up for him?? I’ll come back to her later -_-

I somehow missed it the first time, but shawn clearly asked Gus to come to the dinner and Gus even points out that it was a big deal for henry to reach out. Soo, yeah, shawn obviously didn’t wanna be alone with his dad, and even henry seemed nervous about it as hes pretty drunk.

Shawn has a right to be afraid of pointy things, his dad hid his easter eggs under glass when he was 6! Not to mention he later gets stabbed 3 times! (Also its just a legitimate fear???)

So far the list of Shawns knowledge (things i wouldn’t expect an average person to know) includes (beyond the obvious observational skills, deductive reasoning, reading people (poker), and all things police (marksmanship, police codes, etc.)):

Incredible spatial and physical reasoning skills (knowing how much money could fit in the duffle bag, knowing to rotate the water pitcher to catch the reflection from the tv)

Kurt Vonnegut (well, I didn’t know who he was at least)

How to spell aggiornamento (and probably all words because of his photographic memory)

Handwriting expert

Casually spoke and understood german

Has every road he’s driven mapped in his brain, and likely all of Santa Barbara

Familiar with paint (enough to know to mix latex enamel for no messy drips)

Animal tracks (i went back and forth on this but ultimately decided he must have known what to look for)

When he spends alone time with Lucanis it is usually in the middle of the night as they both sleep very little. Keeping each’s company and sharing their experiences within the Crows is what started and solidified their bond. — Aside from his sweet tooth. Azlo had never really cared about food. If it kept him going it was good enough, but he does find himself enjoying it when Lucanis cooks for him.

He loves the trips to Arlathan with Davrin. And although Davrin isn’t the most intune with his heritage, Azlo likes to hear the many stories from when the man was growing up. The experiences are so different from what he’s known his whole life, it’s thrilling for him.

Davrin enjoys the way that Azlo talks about magic and the Fade. The way he describes it is much more simplistic than when Emmrich tries to bring it up, he can almost begin to understand it. As well the Crow’s knowledge of poisons is impressive and the things he’s learned will be helpful in future battles with various monsters.

Lucanis loves cooking for Azlo especially since the elf is about as good a cook as Harding, and that scared him. Their experience as Crows is so very different, by similar it’s very entertaining for both of them and Spite to share and tell stories of their best and worst contracts.

8. What does their ideal date look like? Do they go on much?

For Azlo the best kind of date is somewhere with few people and no expectations. He’s so used to “dating” as having to read the other person and give them what they want. To get to be himself and relax and just spend genuine time with someone else is perfect. —I don’t think most of his dates are necessarily planned as dates, so it’s hard to quantify, but he likes spending time with his partners as often as possible.

Rhys and Lucanis have date nights at least once a week. Rhys usually heads to Treviso for some Antivan tea he’s grown fond of from Cafe Pietra. Also to get a break from his parents, mostly Lyvius. Sometimes Lucanis does visit Rhys’ home to continue trying to earn the former Inquisitor’s trust.

(There’s no real problem. It really isn’t about trust. Lyvius is just that overprotective parent that will always give his child’s partner a hard time.)

14. Does your Rook get their partner any other gifts (besides the one already in-game)? Does the partner get Rook any? Any gifts that are particularly special?

Azlo is no Viago, but with his knowledge of alchemy and Darrin’s of monster physiology he’s made a few concoctions to help Davrin make quicker work of some of the hunter’s more powerful quarry.

He’s given Lucanis the kettle set and wyvern dagger over the events of Veilguard. Other than that he isn’t much of a gift giver. He shows his affections more with actions and time spent and intimacy.

The special thing the three of them got was a matching set of enchanted rings that changed color when any of the wearers were thinking of the other. red for Azlo, violet for Lucanis, and cerulean for Davrin. And they all shimmered white when they were collectively thinking of each other together.

Waiting for the AU where Willow is a princess always escaping the castle cause she doesn’t wanna do her princess duties or whatever and Hunter is the poor knight who’s assigned to be her personal guard and has a heart attack every time she jumps out her window to go into town

I want the grandest game to end, Lyra wins she gets the house and island and then we get a super romantic/sad moment between Lyra and gray before the Hawthornes head back to Hawthorne house that ends with lyra wanting to say something to Grayson about her feelings for him and then deciding not to.

The Hawthornes leave the island and then in the epilogue we get Graysons pov of him back at Hawthorne house, going about his life, but he can’t stop thinking about his girl on the phone, I want to see him yearning for Lyra. Then, at the beginning of tgg 2 something happens that means they meet again.
