a pet peeve of mine in fantasy is when they talk about the Magic(tm) like studying the magic, having the magic, or like, supernatural powers but where everyone has superpowers in that civilization. and. and.

elves wouldn't say "we have superior vision", they'd say "yeah humans are practically blind".

a small pet peeve i have when reading dbda fics is when they call Edwin older or taller because, first of all, not only is he not taller, he's technically shorter, it's just that his boots and Charles' posture make him seem the same height and sometimes taller, but he's not.

it's only an inch or two, but he's shorter than Charles, not taller.

as for the "older" part yes, Edwin is older supernaturally speaking but i don't think hell should count, it's not like he was wandering around living his life as a ghost there, they have existed as ghosts on earth for the same amount of time. even their ages when they died, not only were they both sixteen, the number of months they lived after turning 16 are probably around the same, because Edwin is a January capricorn who died in either spring or early fall judging by their clothes, and Charles' birthday is in either April or May and he died in like late fall so again, either the same amount (around six months) or Edwin died younger (~4 months).

I really love your Devil’s bastard and Raised Together AUs because there’s a lot of familial drama but also lore associated with Lucifer and just what he can pass down to his children that is so fascinating.

I can imagine a scenario where something like this occurs and both Charlie and Alastor are pushed to unlocking the sleeping demons that lay sleeping inside them.

Imagine Charlie with red and white wings and Alastor with red and black wings, the hellfire being appearing over their horns and insane power emanating from them

Appreciate it! The big fun of this AU for me is definitely how it throws a monkey wrench right in the characters' usual dynamics. Lucifer going from implicitly threatening to murder Alastor to awkwardly stumbling around him. Alastor trying to manipulate Charlie without letting her assimilate him into her idealistic fantasy version of a brother-sister bond. Vaggie waking up from nightmares of having Alastor as a brother-in-law.

But yeah, it's also interesting to imagine what effect Lucifer's angelic DNA would have on his offspring. We don't know much about what Charlie actually is or how she's different from demons in general - Hellborn or sinner - or from either of her parents. Sinners are human souls, but based on the fact that they eat and sleep have toilets, they do seem to have all the same gears and whistles as living breathing humans. At the same time, they can twist their bodies into impossible shapes, grow to enormous sizes, even pull themselves back together after being ripped apart by anything that isn't an angelic weapon. And this isn't even mentioning any supernatural powers they may have like Sir Pentious's hypnosis or Alastor's - [gestures to all of him] - everything.

The idea of Alastor and Charlie unlocking some greater power does sound pretty cool! However, as they're already pretty demonic at their base, I would instead flavor it as them unlocking their sleeping angelic powers. After all, angels are said to be more powerful than demons in-universe, and this is power inherited from Lucifer. Plus, I love love love angels as monsters. I think that Charlie did experience a more mild form of what you're talking about after Sir Pentious was killed.

Of course, it wasn't quite the raw explosion of power I think you're thinking of, and the end result is still pretty demonic looking. But this is still power she inherited from Lucifer. But we're still early into the story, and it's fun to speculate what kind of greater power Charlie may unlock in the future.

But back to the AU, the thought of them manifesting wings along with their greater powers at a later date would be sooooo fun. Maybe while facing off against the person who owns Alastor's soul (who I will say is Eve for the purposes of this AU). The both of them manifesting wings would be a nice way to visualize their shared bloodline. Plus, the addition of wings to Alastor's design may call to mind the peryton; a mythical creature with the appearance of a winged stag. A not-so-minor pet peeve of mine is when people say Alastor is a w**digo just because his deer-like appearance, and the peryton feels much more appropriate to his character.

Granted, he doesn't have any cultural ties to the peryton either aside from maaaaaybe his name (the name 'Alastor' has its origins in ancient Greece and the creature seems to be either Greek or Roman), but it does make for a great visual pun if you take 'peryton' to refer to radio signals.

Background

Cass and Romeo were born in a town six hours north from Crystal Woods in the Kingdom of Heroes. Ever since they were young, the twins had a close bond as siblings. When they were twelve was when her parents sent her and her brother to Crystal Woods to live with their great aunt, Cara, who they had not seen in years for the summer. They were sent there as their parents were under the process of divorce and didn’t want the kids to overhear the situation. The twins were told that they were being sent so they can better hold their magic.

While in Crystal Woods, she discovered that monsters like gnomes, minotaurs, and other creatures existed thanks to a strange journal she found in the woods. She already knew the existence of ghosts, merpeople and beastmen but there were other creatures that had yet made their appearances known. She spent that summer documenting monsters and updating the entries that the author already left. One day, she discovered that she had another great aunt named Clara, who had been missing from Twisted Wonderland for years, due to a fight between the older Oaks sent her through a portal between worlds. She spent some time with Clara as both were interested in the supernatural.

The two older women spent the rest of the summer helping the twins get a better hold of their magic. While she was there, she worked in Cara’s tourist trap called the Cursed Home, an old house that she lived in and became the twin’s temporary home for their stays. Once they heard about the divorce they were crushed. They often called their great aunt’s when the fighting was too much, even after the divorce was finalized. They spent summer in Crystal Woods for a couple of years until she and Romeo ran away to the town, not wanting to be in the middle of their parents drama. Cara threatened to take them to court for being unfit parents unless they agreed to transfer custody of the twins to her.

Two more years after living with her great aunt’s, both she and her brother were surprised to see the ebony carriage in front of the Cursed Home’s door. After Romeo entered the carriage, it didn’t leave. The women were confused until Clara said that the carriage seemed to be waiting for Cass. Once Cass got in the carriage did it take off.

Personality

Cass is a very intelligent and mature girl. She uses her head to calmly solve problems, whether it’s homework or how to take down a monster. It’s useful in stressful situations but there are times when it backfires on her. Some of the students find her to be a know it all and pick on her for being nerdy. Her maturity also tends to backfire on her, as she tends to get in her own way at times and takes things way too seriously at times. When she gets like this, Romeo is there to pull her back to being a teenager. She hates when people treat her like a little kid and dismiss her because of her gender and intelligence.

She does tend to use her findings to her own gain at times. Though she did do wrong, she does what she can to set things right. There are times when she’s extremely paranoid. She has trust issues that sometimes fuel the paranoia and sometimes feel like she cannot fully trust anyone in Ramschackle other than her brother. Despite her issues she finds herself trusting her dormmates more as the year goes on.

This spell allows her to quickly figure out the solutions to problems whenever she can’t think of anything else. She can summon a book that has the solutions to her problem and uses the one she finds best. She can only use this spell once a day.

She fears very little in the way of things, but she would NEVER admit to any fears, but fears of abandonment or loss. Also, she’d be devastated if she disappointed her father.

do they have any pet peeves?

Evie is what I would call an old soul. She prefers things to be orderly and everything has a proper place. She’s precise and anything that is out of place or disheveled will irk her something fierce.

what are 3 items you can find in their bedroom?

Several hidden fire arms, a jewelry box of her mother’s and lots of books - Most of them are going to be historical, physics, archaeology, technical manuals, art of war... and secretly she'd be mortified if anyone found her secret collection of historical romance novels.

what do they notice first in a person?

She would first assess their body posture and if they are a threat or not. She’d be looking for signs of supernaturals hidden in a human form and devising contingency for attack should there be one. If there was no threat, she would be making direct eye contact.

on a scale of 1 to 10, how high is their pain tolerance?

10 easy. She and her brothers have been training for their entire lives. If she cries out in pain it’s got to really hurt otherwise she’d die before she gave anyone the satisfaction of seeing her in pain.

do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure?

Under pressure, she will fight to the last breath. Socially she is about the same to be fair, she’s as vicious with words as she is with weapons.

do they come from a big family/are they a family person?

She loves her family it’s not a very large family, but the ones who get in are loved and protected with ferocity.

What animal represents them best?

To represent her, I would have to represent all three siblings as they primarily fight as one unit. I guess they would be much like wolves. Loyal, dangerous, but loving to their loved ones.

what is a smell that they dislike?

A few times, mostly fractures. Recently her wrist was broken by Guy during her attack on him.

Determined, cold, aggressive, see you next Tuesday. Frigid... all those kind of things that usually turn people away from you.

She has no preference for time. Supernatural hunting can be any hour or day of the week.

She enjoys updating the Van Richten Archives, making her own ammo, archery, and reading.

She would likely pull a gun instinctively and then leave when she realizes it's a party. Surprises and parties have no place in her world. They leave you open and vulnerable.

When not working she would wear jewelry, while hunting or expecting an attack, no. She'd take off her jewelry and heels before fighting, if she were to get caught in such a situation.

do they have neat or messy handwriting?

Neat and very legible cursive writing. She refuses to print. It's not efficient.

Anger and Fear ... Mostly Anger.

what kind of accent do they have?

I tend to think of her as English, but I think she could hide her accent well enough to blend in with any place. Unfortunately, her hair being white is kind of hard to hide and she’ll die before it would be dyed.

Her father and brothers would be English as well, but for whatever reason I don't hear Randall as having much of an English accent at all. Tristan and RT would be a bit harsher of an accent, but Evie's would be light English.

A set of 20 questions to get to know your oc! I was tagged by @matchalovertrait and @simmenycricket. thank you so much! since we're days away from starting his generation, i'm going to be doing this with Reuben in mind.

What uncommon/common fear do they have? Contrary to popular belief, Reuben is not scared of death and is actually quite fascinated by it. He is fearful though of his own mind and how it's wired to undervalue his own life and reality. He's so hyper-aware of how life is so fleeting and arbitrary that it's pushed him toward understanding the concept of mortality (and exploring the possibility that immortality might be out there in some other supernatural realm). So, to answer the question without getting too deep into it, Reuben's big fear is his own brain.

Do they have any pet peeves? People who say "no offense" because they almost always mean full offense.

What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom? His phone, a record player, a dusty old book.

What do they notice first in a person? Reuben notices body language and eye contact first. He is very intuitive and can glean how comfortable people are in a situation, and he usually finds the least comfortable looking person and tries to keep them company.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how high is their pain tolerance? Emotional pain? 8/10. Physical pain? he may be a rancher's son, but he's a baby -- 4/10.

Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure? Under pressure, Reuben goes into flight and retreat and hide out in his room mode. But recent events involving an ex-boyfriend who shall not be named have made him more resilient. He's got a little more fight in him now than he did as a teenager.

Do they come from a big family/are they a family person? He grew up mostly raised by his mom, but his dad has always been present in his life. He'd say he's close to both of them. While he was in high school, his parents had a surprise pregnancy so he has a much, much younger brother.

What animal represents them best? A cat for the introspection and for being deeply perceptive. Or a humpback whale -- for the introversion and the appreciation for music.

What is a smell that they dislike? Reuben doesn't really like floral scents like lilies or carnations because they remind him too much of childhood memories of accompanying his mom to the funeral home.

Have they broken any bones? One time, he climbed the windmill at their ranch and he fell and broke his arm. And no broken bones, but he did get a nasty bruise on his behind after he fell off Maple.

How would a stranger likely describe them? Some would say softboi; others would say babygirl.

Are they a night owl or a morning bird? Night owl, which is exactly why he needs to get out of the ranch and its squealing-goat wake up calls.

What is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love? Growing up with a professional chef as his mom opened Reuben's palate to a lot of good food. He's always been an easy eater, but a flavor he hates is liver. He can't stand the texture! As for a flavor he loves, it's garlic!

Do they have any hobbies? Playing the piano and reading vampire tomes and fantasy novels. He also swam in high school although he was no star athlete like his mom was.

Boom, surprise birthday party!How do they react to surprises? He would be so appreciative to the person who threw the party (either his mom or his best friend, Winona). He would probably hate being the centre of attention though. But he'll put on a brave face and try his best to make sure everyone is having a good time.

Do they like to wear jewelry? Yes, and I think more now that he's gotten older. He likes to layer silver necklaces. He's also thinking of getting some piercings... and perhaps some ink? Who knows.

Do they have neat or messy handwriting? Legible but messy. A little bit like his handwriting stopped improving in the 3rd grade.

What are two emotions they feel the most? Existential sadness and teenage angst.

Do they have a favorite fabric? Comfy, breathable cotton. Brushed plaid shirts. A vintage leather jacket.

What kind of accent do they have? Chestnut Ridge is in the southwest and people from that area typically don't have a strong southern accent like those from Willow Creek. That being said, compared to almost everywhere else, people from C.R. have a slight twang and a touch of that southern drawl. Reuben will probably say he doesn't have an accent, but someone from the city will definitely say he does.

Made an Monster High AU for Eddsworld, now I'm making one for FNF. I mean a good amount of the characters (both canon and mod) are supernatural anyway so why the hell not?

I made Boyfriend (or as he's called in my and my friend's fanon: Jacob) an Android-Angel hybrid (andgel?) based on two common headcanons for BF: BF being an angel to contrast GF being a demon, and that's he's Hatsune Miku's brother (which I don't subscribe to myself but I can see it). In fact Jacob's clothes were inspired directly from Vocaloid outfits (specifically Len Append and Anode Miku).

And yes I used the same last name from the Soft Mod. I just think it works so well, both since BF's half angel here and it's a nice complement to the last name Dearest, in a way.

Light Manipulaton Jacob can create and manipulate light, which he can use either for utility (ex: lighting up dark areas) and combat.

Emotional Color Change Similar to Kiyomi Haunterly's body, Jacob halo and wings act similar to that of a mood ring, changing colors depending on how he's feeling. It’s normally blue which means he’s happy, dark blue means he’s sad, red means he’s angry, purple means he’s scared, green means he’s disgusted, pink means he’s in love, orange is when he’s annoyed, etc.

Flight He can fly thanks to the wings on his back.

Pain Immunity As he is half android, he cannot feel pain

Immortality Because he is half-angel, he is immortal as well.

22: Pet peeves?

oh i have this one very specific pet peeve. when someone wrongly insists i did or didn't do something. this will send me into a rage so quickly. i'm a very honest person. if i fuck something up, i'll own up to it. but i fucking hate when someone accuses me of fucking something up even when i insist i didn't. it's really hard to explain how much this enrages me.

i place a very high value on my word. and so if someone wrongly accuses me doing/not doing something and i correct them but then they continue to insist that i did/didn't do it, despite my correction, then i guess it feels like they're calling my word into question. and my word is something that is so central to my identity. it triggers me like nothing.

i actually don't really get angry that easily. but this shit will make me get real violent real fast. pretty much every time (the very few times) in my life when i've been violently aggressive it was because i was provoked by the above kind of behavior.

like for example; this actually involves that one mattress store. the owner would pay us under the table. she'd put the money in envelopes. one day the money went missing. it was just me, this other guy, and the owner in the building at the time. i know for a fact i didn't touch the money. but the other guy insisted it wasn't him so it must have been me. i told him nah it wasn't me. and he was like "well it definitely wasn't me. and no one else has been here. so it was you." and we had a few more back-and-forths like that and i could just feel myself slowly getting angrier and angrier -- every time he accused me. and after like the third or fourth time? i snapped and i started choking him out right there. it felt like i got possessed. lmao. the dumb bitch owner tried to get me to stop and she threatened to call the cops on me and so i let him go. needless to say we both left and we never got to the bottom of the disappeared money but he obviously was the one who took the money.

to be clear, there were two envelopes. one for me and one for him. so he stole from me. that probably added to why i was so quick to anger. but in the moment, i was more pissed off about him accusing me of stealing than him actually stealing from me. he never came back to work. probably for the best because i'd have most likely ended up in jail if i saw him again.

lol gotta be either the big dipper or orion. big dipper because it's like the first constellation i ever noticed and it's just so visible and it's big like me. but orion is also pretty great. also very visible and also just has so much going on. also like me.

31: Do you get scared easily?

lmaoooo. idk. this is kinda complicated. because i watch scary movies and i don't get afraid and i walk alone at night in bad parts of town and i'm not afraid and i've even ridden with my boys to what i thought was almost certain death and i wasn't afraid.

but at the same time? i think i have agoraphobia and probably some issues with paranoia. idk. like yeah i can ride to certain death with my homies but sometimes just being out in public alone with lots of people around can send me into a panic. i just get weird ideas/feelings/experiences sometimes. they tap into something primal. it's really hard to explain tbh. so i don't know how to answer this. i don't get scared by a lot of the shit that normally scares people but i do get pretty fucked up by seemingly innocuous shit. sometimes all it takes is a weird glance from someone and i'll think some bad shit is about to happen to me. like supernatural shit.

i guess that's maybe it. when i'm riding with my homies or walking down a bad street, i'm in control. i know i can handle myself. whatever threats that come my way are probably going to be physical.

but sometimes....i feel some less-physical shit coming my way and that fucks me up because i can't rely on my strength/size.

PREFERRED COMMUNICATION: Discord, but tumblr IMs work too. I just don't always see them because dumblr is dumb sometimes.

EXPERIENCE: I've been writing since middle school with pencils and notebooks with friends. I'm 33 now. You do the math. I've written on a smattering of different websites and IM services. I'm old.

PREFERRED ROLEPLAY TYPE: Multipara with a little bit of inhumans mixed in (be it supernatural for sci-fi based). I'm not too picky, but I do love me a good shipping rp when it works out just right.

PET PEEVES & DEALBREAKERS: Pet peeves are as follows: 1. Major god modding. 2. Little bit of a high horse moment, sorry, but erasing a FCs POCness because they don't meet someone's standards of not looking ethnic enough. I just can't imagine going up to someone of any ethnicity IRL and saying you aren't -insert ethnicity here- enough. 3. Having to do all the work in plotting. I don't want to pick everything every time. I may ask for preferences on my muses tying to narrow stuff down, but if it's like pulling teeth to get something going, it's hard.

Dealbreakers: 1. Being elitist 2. Gate keeping 3. Telling me how my character needs to be (personality wise) and how to act. I don't mean plotting and what we need to do to get from point A to point B in a situation. I just mean from a character building standpoint. Especially with my OCs. There's helpful criticisms for Canons, but even then, we all have our own take and and have done a lot to get them to the point they are at when you meet them. Just because you didn't see their whole journey doesn't mean it wasn't there.

PLOTS OR MEMES: Both! I just sometimes prefer to plot a little on which muses we should use. Figure out who might jive. :]

LONG REPLIES OR SHORT REPLIES: I do both and enjoy both! It really depends what the thread calls for.

BEST TIME TO WRITE: Usually on the weekends. I have a creative job during the week, so sometimes my brain is absolutely spent when I get home.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSES: For the most part, I don't think so. Some I do have things in common with, but I fully believe most of us put a little bit of ourself into every character we write.

I have been binge watching Supernatural and currently I have some very strong words for the writers! 😭

Let me just say Dean, beautiful, love him, a sometimes morally grey person and family man to certain extent. PLEASE TELL ME WHY A FAMILY MAN IS LETTING HIS LITTLEST BROTHER ROT IN A CAGE WITH LUCIFER AND MICHAEL?!!?? (Thousands of years in supernatural season 8 time. Did the math with my bf)

Amendment: currently on season 9( Towards the end) I see the family man needs a little bit of family therapy. The boys relationship has fractured, tremendously might I add. It’s true Sam never wanted this life but yet still they cling to each other cause they are all each other has. And they had happy moments, moments to be regular but they can’t shake the hunter life, it’s an addiction to heroism, familiarity, familial obligation and the lack of true life experience that keeps them shackled. 

Also Dean needs extreme character growth. There’s a lot of being on his high horse even though he fucked up plenty of times, but there’s a greater emphasis placed on Sam for being the one to release Lucifer. I totally understand his plight as being the oldest because I am the eldest child as well. Still something ain’t right.

He doesn’t repent for his actions and allows his circumstances to be his crutch and excuse. Example: Sam and Amy. Yet he wanted understanding once Sam discovered that Benny was a vampire. Blaming purgatory and sam as the reason for him keeping this a secret.

Another thing! A a pet peeve of mine is them establishing demons using humans as meat suits yet constantly the first move is to kill them and the human. You got the demon but you also killed an innocent human in the process. Your whole shtick is about saving humanity and that humans are better than these barbaric monsters yet you kill somebodies sister, uncle, brother, aunty and call them the few broken eggs that were needed for the greater full course meal.

Small pet peeve: I love things with supernatural content but for some reason I just never got into the show called Supernatural. I tried watching a few episodes and it just didn't grab me.

So every time I off-handedly mention that I love the supernatural I have to quickly specify that I'm not talking about the CW TV series that is so popular.

I even ended up starting to say paranormal more often than supernatural because people associate the word more with the fictional TV series than with paranormal or preternatural phenomena.
