Cheers to the close of a successful 2022! As another year comes to an end, I realize I haven’t done a very good job of either reflecting on milestones or sharing adventures on here lately. But in the end, it feels rewarding to look back on a year and say, “PHEW,” and also “thanks” — to both community and life itself — for all the adventures experienced and lessons learned.
Below are the 2022 accomplishments of which I’m particularly proud. This year, I:
— Produced all the main stage programming and anthem video content for YouTube’s EduCon conference in NYC, welcoming hundreds of high-profile learning channels from around the world to share collaboration and inspiration through our live event program (including via a closing keynote from Neil deGrasse Tyson).
— Completed assignments as a filmmaker, photographer, and social media content producer in places as far-flung as Mongolia and Belize, and as near-to-home as New England and the Pacific Northwest, e.g.: https://bit.ly/MongoliaSlideshow.
— Wrote and published somewhere between 10-20 globe-spanning articles for clients such as AFAR covering destinations like the Maldives, Oman, Spain, UAE, Thailand, Vietnam, France, Puerto Rico, Germany, and the U.S. (https://rachelrudwall.contently.com/).
— Completed 30+ live or live-to-tape media hits as an on-air travel expert for news outlets across the country, e.g.: https://bit.ly/WKYCPlanForVacationDay.
— Privately coached 10 new consulting clients ranging from award-winning CEOs to media pros with millions of subscribers, covering topics such as public speaking, brand-building, and TV series production (rachelroams.com/consulting).
— Engaged in numerous public speaking engagements both IRL and virtually, including at my favorite event each year, Women’s Travel Fest (https://womenstravelfest.com/).
— Became a published author thanks to the inspiring team behind Wanderess and their invitation to write for the book (https://bit.ly/WanderessBook).
— Crafted custom influencer/KOL content for brand clients that span the worlds of travel, tourism, fashion, lifestyle, and government (https://bit.ly/MongoliaPOVReel).
— Connected with fellow storytellers as a podcast and blog guest, including for Adorama’s 42 West Blog (https://bit.ly/RR42West) and Nora Dunn’s The Professional Hobo (https://bit.ly/RRProHobo).
— Volunteered for the second year running as a Board Member for Ecology in Classrooms and Outdoors (https://www.ecologyoutdoors.org/).
— Completed another year as a USA for UNHCR Refugee Champion, and learned that my short film about a Syrian refugee family resettled in WA now lives on in an impactful story map (https://bit.ly/U4UStoryMap).
— Led monthly financial education sessions for women professionals for the fourth year in a row.
— Enjoyed personal trips through Italy, the Netherlands, California, Utah, Washington, and Oregon (including my baby’s first camping trip, complete with a multi-mile, pitch-black cave hike!).
— Snowshoed, hiked, and traipsed outdoors for what feels like countless miles (though, my Apple Watch tells me my daily average mile count is around four… so, I guess the total is just shy of 1500 miles?).
— Completed nearly 100 OrangeTheory workouts.
— And did all of that while raising a new baby and learning how to become a parent.
PHEW. What a joyful, expansive year it has been. I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store.
Thanks to each of you for sharing in the journey!

Good Cars for Single Moms in California
Navigating life as a single mom in California can be both rewarding and challenging. One of the key elements that can make your day-to-day easier is having a reliable vehicle. Whether it’s shuttling kids to school, grocery shopping, or commuting to work, the right car makes all the difference. But with countless options available, how do you decide which cars are best suited for you? This blog post dives into good cars for single moms in California and offers valuable insights on transportation assistance programs tailored just for you. Let’s explore practical solutions that will help keep your family moving forward!
When selecting a car, single moms in California should prioritize reliability, safety, and affordability. Compact SUVs like the Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4 offer spacious interiors and great fuel efficiency. These models are perfect for juggling kids’ activities while providing enough room for groceries or sports gear. For those on a tighter budget, sedans such as the Toyota Corolla or Hyundai Elantra deliver excellent value with strong safety ratings and low maintenance costs. Additionally, electric options like the Nissan Leaf reduce gas expenses and environmental impact—ideal choices for eco-conscious families navigating busy city life.
Transportation Assistance for Single Moms
Transportation is a vital part of daily life, especially for single moms juggling multiple responsibilities. From school runs to work commutes, reliable vehicles can make all the difference. Fortunately, various programs and resources exist to assist these hardworking women in California. Many organizations recognize the challenges single mothers face. They provide transportation assistance through grants or low-cost car options. Understanding what’s available can help ease financial burdens while ensuring that families have safe and dependable means of travel.
Options for Free Cars
Single moms in California have several options for obtaining free cars. Various organizations and charities offer programs specifically aimed at helping those in need. These initiatives can provide reliable transportation, making daily commutes easier. Many local non-profits collaborate with community members to donate gently used vehicles. Some even hold events where single mothers can apply for a car or receive assistance navigating the process of acquiring one through government resources. It’s worth researching these opportunities to find the right fit for your situation.
Qualifying Criteria for Donated Cars
Qualifying for a donated car typically involves meeting specific criteria set by the organization providing the vehicle. Many programs prioritize single moms who are in financial need, often requiring proof of income or participation in welfare programs. Additionally, applicants may need to demonstrate reliable transportation needs, such as commuting to work or school. Some organizations also consider factors like having children at home and being an active member of the community when evaluating applications for donated cars.
Recommended Car Models for Single Moms
When it comes to finding good cars for single moms in California, reliability is key. The Honda CR-V stands out with its spacious interior and great fuel efficiency. Another excellent option is the Toyota RAV4, known for its safety features and low maintenance costs. For those looking at sedans, the Hyundai Sonata offers a comfortable ride with advanced technology options. The Subaru Forester is also a popular choice due to its all-wheel drive capabilities and ample cargo space, perfect for busy lifestyles that require flexibility on the road.
Utilizing Community Resources for Car Assistance
Community resources can be a game-changer for single moms seeking reliable transportation. Local organizations often provide valuable assistance, such as car repair programs or low-cost vehicle options. Engaging with these community initiatives can ease financial stress and ensure mobility. Many neighborhoods also host outreach events to connect single mothers with available resources. Networking within local support groups may reveal hidden gems like subsidized vehicles or even grants for car purchases. Taking advantage of these services allows single moms to focus on what truly matters—caring for their families without the burden of unreliable transportation.
Local Charities
Local charities often step up to support single moms in need of reliable transportation. Many organizations focus on providing vehicles or financial assistance for purchasing a car. These initiatives can significantly lighten the load for mothers juggling work, childcare, and daily responsibilities. Researching local charities can open doors to various resources. Organizations might provide grants or even partner with dealerships to offer affordable options. Connecting with community groups is a great way to discover what’s available right in your area.
National Programs
National programs play a vital role in assisting single moms facing transportation challenges. Organizations like Good News Garage and Vehicles for Change provide donated cars to qualified applicants, making reliable transportation accessible. These programs often cater specifically to low-income families. To participate, mothers typically need to meet certain income criteria and demonstrate a genuine need for a vehicle. In return, they receive essential support that helps ease daily commuting burdens while empowering them towards greater independence and mobility throughout California.
Church Organizations
Many church organizations offer support to single moms through various programs, including vehicle assistance. They often aim to help those in need within their communities. Reaching out to local churches can uncover resources like donated cars or financial aid for purchasing reliable vehicles. In addition to direct car assistance, these organizations may provide additional services such as counseling and job placement. Connecting with a church community can lead to valuable networking opportunities and emotional support, making the journey of single motherhood a little less daunting while ensuring safe transportation options are available.
Tips for Single Moms Looking for Reliable Transportation
Searching for reliable transportation can feel overwhelming, especially for single moms. Start by assessing your needs: how many passengers do you usually carry? Do you need extra cargo space? This will help narrow down your options. Consider buying a certified pre-owned vehicle to save money while ensuring quality. Research the car's history and maintenance records thoroughly. Additionally, prioritize vehicles with high safety ratings and good fuel efficiency to make your daily driving more economical and secure.
Budgeting for Maintenance
Budgeting for car maintenance is crucial for single moms managing tight finances. Start by setting aside a small amount each month specifically for upkeep. Regular oil changes, tire rotations, and brake checks can prevent costly repairs down the road. Consider using online tools or apps to track expenses and create reminders for service appointments. Staying proactive about maintenance helps ensure your vehicle remains reliable and safe. This way, you can focus on what truly matters—your family—without unexpected breakdowns disrupting your routine.
Choosing the Right Insurance
Selecting the right insurance for your car is crucial, especially for single moms in California. Start by comparing providers and policies to understand coverage options that fit your budget. Look for plans that include essential features like roadside assistance and rental reimbursement. Always consider the deductibles and premiums carefully. A lower deductible might mean a higher premium, but it can save you money during an accident. Don't forget to ask about discounts; many insurers offer reductions for safe driving or bundling multiple policies. Make informed decisions to ensure peace of mind while on the road with your kids.
Car Safety Features
When selecting a vehicle, prioritize safety features that protect both you and your children. Look for vehicles equipped with advanced airbag systems, anti-lock brakes, and stability control. These elements can significantly reduce the risk of accidents. Consider models with modern driver-assistance technologies like lane departure warnings and blind-spot monitoring. Features such as automatic emergency braking are invaluable for preventing collisions. Always check crash test ratings to ensure you're choosing a car that meets high safety standards. A safe vehicle provides peace of mind while navigating California’s busy roads.
Conclusion
Finding the right vehicle can make a significant difference for single moms in California. It’s not just about getting from point A to B; it’s about ensuring safety and reliability while juggling life's demands. With various resources available, including community support and recommended models, navigating the car-buying process becomes more manageable. Embracing these options can lead to better transportation solutions that meet both practical needs and budgetary constraints.

Fulfillment - A Spiritual Story
Fulfillment is of course, a wonderful way to continue to create the life that’s always forging its path, ahead of us. I have met with such a variety of individuals along my own path of fulfillment, and of course, some of the people have shown me a lit way of being toward their own great full lifestyles.
Those who have inspired me the most, are the people who have generated the fullest lives, with the willingness to take on their own freedom of expression.
The interesting thing about fulfillment is that it’s personal, individual and can be on a moment by moment basis, often stretched across a lifetime.
One of the most insightful understandings for me, was providing healing, counsel and compassionate exchanges, while working with a hospice organization in California.
They were a wonderful group of people, who operated from a loving, while successful angle, on a huge humanity-centered perspective.
I found myself learning a great deal when going to various homes, with quite different lives, that were preparing themselves, and their loved ones, for their departure. It was this almost hidden, not often spoken about World reality. We hushed the truth, moved out of the way of conversations and there was so many unknowns, in the realms of the onslaught of impending death. Our society generally likes to pretend death only exists for some, and not for each and every one of us. There has been talk of the “tragedy of losing a 90 year old parent and more. The true tragedy is not in facing the inevitable death of life, rather it is in the “not living enough” while we are here on earth.
I noticed the individuals and the families that were generally more comfortable with impending death, were those who had really lived a full life.
I saw both men and women who had experienced their best and highest nature of abundance, with creativity, in the fullest of expression. This certainly helped in the form of acceptance and preparedness in the sacred pathway of the process of the passage from life to death. I speak of the word “death” yet there’s a massive part of me that doesn’t actually believe in the fact of it.
We are on a spiritual continuum, which means how we show up beyond this life will alter, yet there is an ongoing non-physical reality, that an individual steps into. I have witnessed greater peace in people, who have led a full life, when they are ready to shed it. The challenges come when a person isn’t fulfilled, isn’t complete, and leaves a bunch of frayed edges from their life experience. It is now my experience, not only to live as full of a life as possible, and also to suggest, persuade and help others to live their own best and fullest life, while here.
Ultimately, a full life, in my view, is the one that contains massive expression and as many varied experiences as is humanly possible.

This Sweet Life: An Interview With Natalie Sullivan
It’s so romantic that you met your husband Ryan at 18 years old and have been together ever since. How did you two meet? Was it love at first sight?
We actually met and knew each other at school. He tells me that we caught the same bus but I don't remember that part. We were often around each other and in similar circles of friends over the years, in fact his best friend and the best man at our wedding was a high school boyfriend of mine haha. We got together a couple of years after school when we saw each other at a nightclub. We had an instant connection and two weeks after that night we were officially dating and two weeks later he moved in with me. The rest as they say is history.
You mentioned in your blog that you created This Sweet Life because you wanted to better serve your fellow mamas. Do you feel mamas need a greater sense of community and support? Is it something your followers have discussed with you?
I think that women appreciate feeling like they aren't alone. I think they seek genuine, honest conversation that they can relate to. I think that most of us thrive off that connection.
What you post can be really diverse which is amazing! From motherhood, food, travel, interiors, fashion…but what’s your favourite topic to post?
Travel is my favourite and always has been. I love to show families it might not be as hard as they think to take little ones overseas. Then on a general day-to-day basis I love mummy life realities.
We first met at a Nurtur Tea photoshoot. Do you drink tea yourself? Are you interested in natural health?
Yes I do drink tea. I also love matcha. I want to drink more tea! I love the ritual of sitting down and giving yourself a quiet moment with tea. Permission to relax. I need to do that more.
You seem to love fitness. Have you always been so committed to exercise?
Yes I have always loved exercise. I love it for my mental health more than anything else.
Remember Mama is a book written by you as a beautiful reminder to Mothers how truly amazing and loved they are and with every copy sold a donation is made to support Mothers with postnatal depression. Have you suffered from postnatal depression yourself?
I haven't personally but have seen friends go through it. I also have a book called Remember dad which is very similar and aims to uplift the dads too.
Currently, you’re in California! How do you find travelling with three children?
I love it. It's my favourite thing to do. I'm hoping to be able to travel full time for a little bit in the future.
Top 3 favourite things about the Sunshine Coast.
- of course the beach
- the fact that I have so many beautiful friends there
- the foodie scene
- ohhhh one more how accessible it is to live a lifestyle that feels healthy and happy.

Hello, there HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2020 is here and I was definitely not ready for it, but it’s off to a fair start. I’ve already started off by organizing my goals for this year and this year I went ahead and set my intentions for 2020 in late December. I really put some forethought into this year before the holiday season in 2019. That way I would not feel overwhelmed in January. I like to relax and enjoy my time during the holiday season.
The year started off with my catching some crazy weird flu that was going around, gross, which knocked me out for a whole week. This was horrible because I had New Years off for the first time in a few years and I had plans with my family and friends and I wasn’t able to make it. Then come to my mental health break weeks 2 weeks later. Technically I planned on going to Mexico for my sister's 18 birthday but those plans fell through because she wants to go to Australia instead which I insist is a one in a lifetime opportunity and we can always go to Mexico because it's right next door.
l started out by planning my year out and began to utilize a bullet journaling. I got the idea from a friend and we sometimes go to coffee shops and do it together which is my favorites part. If anyone has any tips and trick please share them with me!
I pick my word for the year and I come up with consistency. In 2020 I intend to be more consistent in every area of my life. I am tracking my habits and trying to maintain and achieve a monthly schedule that works best for me and my wacky work schedule. After finishing school that is what I have struggled with the most and I am just trying to find a balance in life.

TUMBLR KILLED OUR BLOG
We miss our SecretPlayWife blog here on tumblr immensely. It was deactivated by tumblr for posting nudes, as if we're the only violator of their tepidly-enforced policy. And they scolded us by form email as if we're degenerates for posting her nude. By analogy, I feel as though we went 5 miles an hour over the California freeway speed limit, which would make us the least speeding vehicle on the freeway, and the police jailed us and impounded our car. We actually live a proper, buttoned up life in our real lives among our friends and coworkers. We have no tattoos, no piercings, nothing that screams alternative lifestyle. Our friends and family don't know of our double life. Our former blog was our outlet where we could share our hobby and connect with like-minded people. We had responded to thousands and thousands of messages. We had advised hundreds of couples on how they might responsibly dabble in the lifestyle to see if it's for them. But now it's gone. Here's our problem. My wife is not a model. She has lots of nonperfect parts and does not want to pretend she is perfect. No beauty mode or staged poses on her part. She doesn't want to pose in lingerie just for a blog nor do Instagram style tease shots. I only get those types when she's actually dressing to meet someone in person. But her real life activities is what my wife DOES enjoy sharing. She enjoys it because it proves that normal imperfect women can be attractive and have an amazing adventurous sex life. It's also fun for us to demonstrate how in love a hotwife couple can be (because we are, 97% of our romantic attentions go towards one another, spiced up by that amazing 3% where my wife is orgasming on another man's large member). Acting sensuous to a camera isn't her thing. Being sensuous and orgasming on a new bbc IS her thing. So with no ability to share the nudes, I don't even know what to post. SecretPlayWife has no intention of just posting tease pics. Tumblr sucks. That's actually not true. Tumblr the platform is excellent. It's still the best out there. Tumblr leadership that continues to clamp down on freedom of legally allowed expression sucks. I wish someone with guts had bought it from Verizon.

We watched our mom make the best cakes, bread, drinks, and much more; as you can imagine, this fueled our love of creating. This is why when we were invited to brunch with Bread & Butter Wines and Chef Ashton Keefe to bake bread, we were ecstatic.

LEK BORJA RENEWS FILIPINO HISTORY THROUGH ART
BY PRECIOUS RINGOR
Asian Pasifika Arts Collective New Outlooks Blog
April 2, 2021
http://ow.ly/fEby50FlQWZ
Editor’s Note: Precious Ringor brings us a second artist profile, this time of Filipino American interdisciplinary artist and poet Lek Borja, whose work is an attempt to track the continuous colonization across time, first within the Philippines from Spain and the United States, through present day America and trying to give voice to Filipino life against a white hegemony. Precious displays how Lek crosses borders of cultural stereotypes, seeking to expand the visions placed on Filipinos by other oppressive powers, and inserting her culture in art spaces where they are new and unfamiliar, but for the community, reminders of home.

Getting to know someone virtually is one of the sad realities we’ve had to face because of COVID-19 regulations. It’s both a blessing and a curse—we’ve become a global village, but at the same time we’ve all had more eye and back problems from sitting around and zooming this past year.
A zoom call and an hour was all I had to get to know Lek Vercauteren Borja, a Filipino American interdisciplinary artist and poet widely known for her thought-provoking work into the Asian diaspora. Chatting with Lek didn’t feel like a job though; time flies fast when you’re having fun.
One of the things I noted was Lek’s warm and friendly nature. Most of the time, it’s uncommon for an interviewee to ask questions about the interviewer. Lek unabashedly admitted that she did a bit of ‘stalking’ before we hopped on Zoom, “I like to know about the person I’m talking with, even before the interview starts.”
Lek started in poetry. Armed with a love for Shakespeare, she pursued a dual concentration in Art and Creative Writing at Antioch University. It was there that she first fell in love with art history and sculpture. During that time, her first chapbook, Android, was published by Plan B Press. She took this as a sign to continue pursuing a career in arts.
As an artist, she admits that’s where she gets inspiration from, “I want to talk about the history of Filipinos, the invisible stories. Growing up in the Philippines and studying there, I realized there was a lot missing in our history books. It seemed as if it were written from a western perspective.” She reminded me so much of the Philippines, of home. Because of our similar upbringing, I immediately understood her search for truth.
The themes of home and longing, of memory and the present, and of giving Filipino lives new voices, carry across her work, and no more palpably than her piece Evolution of the Aswang Myth, what she calls “seed and the origin” to all her current works. Lek says “Without it, I wouldn’t be thinking about art, the way I’m making now.” This 8 x 8 feet painting explores the origins of the aswang or manananggal, a Filipino mythical creature typically depicted as a woman feared for its penchant for eating infants and unborn fetuses during the night. Interestingly, the aswang was also a word ascribed to the Filipina women who went against the forced religious conversion by Spanish friars during their colonization of the Philippines.
March 2021 marked 500 years since Spanish ships first arrived on the shores of the Philippines.
Since then, our country fought hard for liberation, first from Spain and then from the United States of America. In retrospect, it hasn’t been long since the Philippines became an independent nation. Today, we are striving to find our voice amidst the imperialistic erasure we’ve endured.
As Lek puts it, “What propelled me to tell these stories is the feeling that I had no voice. For one, I didn’t speak English well so I couldn’t really talk about what I was going through or how I felt. That’s why a lot of my work now focuses on bringing my experiences of living in the Philippines at the forefront and seeing how that’s connected to bigger conversations and narratives around us.”
Currently, Lek’s work called Anak (My Child) is being featured in the gallery at Towson University’s Asian Arts & Culture Center.

Besides online exhibitions and virtual galleries, Lek is also conducting several workshops in Baltimore’s upcoming Asia North Festival. These workshops are a good model for Lek’s philosophy in making art out of personal histories. Whether it’s experiences of displacement or change, she points out that everyone’s story matters and there will always be a community of people who can empathize with that.
“I think it’s really important for our stories to be brought to light in the larger narrative. They think by calling us model minority, our problems can easily be brushed aside” I lamented the steady rise of xenophobic crimes these past few months.
“I agree, it’s a really complex issue” Lek adds, “Why are we so silent? Why do we stand in the shadows? I’ll probably look for an answer my entire life. It’s hard to talk about our struggles and it’s not easy to have conversations about the past. There’s a culture of silence that’s been normalized and it’s perpetuated even in our own homes. But that’s part of the work I do, bringing everything from the past into the forefront so we can have deeper conversations about it.”
Speaking of the past, Lek’s introduction to the arts started in Tarlac, a city located north of the Philippines. Besides being known as the most multicultural province, the city is home to numerous sugar and rice plantations. “The population of our barrio was probably less than 1,000. Our family had a farm as well as a sugar-cane and rice field plantation. My inang [grandmother] also worked in the market as a butcher. It was a pretty simple country lifestyle but my childhood was amazing.”
Life in the country has been instrumental to Lek’s artistry. “The memory of the landscape and of the community is an extension of my art,” Lek explains. As a young girl, her biggest inspiration comes from her grandfather who, like herself, was also an artist. Lek would copy his drawings and eventually create drawings of her own. Recently, Lek has started to incorporate banana leaves into her work. Banana leaves are incredibly important to Filipino culture as it is used for cooking and traditional homebuilding.
“Sounds like you had to find your own path, coming here at such a young age and experiencing culture shock. America is very different from the Philippines!” I quipped.
“It was snowing where I first came here!” she exclaimed, thinking back to her initial introduction of America. “It was November when we landed in New York, it was freezing. I remember our families bundling us in huge warm winter coats before wecould even say hello. It was definitely a huge shock.”
I laugh, thinking back to when I first arrived in California ten years ago. Silly to think I was already freezing in sunny temperatures when she had to endure piles of snow. “Do you think you’ve had to change yourself in order to adjust to that culture shock?”
“For a long time I really didn’t know who I was,” Lek admits. “When I was younger, the school I went to was predominantly white. What I thought about how I should present myself came from that image. I dyed my hair blond and put on blue colored contacts to fit in. It was a lot of assimilation and cultural erasure. I started talking less Tagalog and less Ilocano. But art has really helped me find myself. It made me think more deeply about who I really was and what was important to me on an authentic level.”
Halfway through our conversation, we slowly realized just how similar we were. From migrating at the age of ten to living twenty miles apart in the same city. It was also in chatting that Lek found out I spoke Tagalog fluently, one thing she regrets losing unexpectedly. As it is my first language, Lek asked me to speak it instead. Once again, her warm nature bled through the Zoom interview; I found it refreshing since hardly anyone thinks about the interviewer’s comfort.
Unsurprisingly, community building is important to Lek. Before working, she likes to ask herself the following questions, ‘How is what I’m doing connected to my family and everyone in the Filipino community? How can I better serve my community?’ One of the main reasons she moved to L.A. is to network with other Filipino artists.
“A few years ago, I showed my art alongside a group of all Filipino artists at Avenue 50 Studio gallery for an exhibition that Nica Aquino and Anna Calubayan organized (also both Filipinas). It’s crazy because I’ve lived in and out [of L.A.] for over 10 years now and it was only in 2019 that I started to be part of that community. It’s probably the most fun I've had at an art show, I really felt at home.”
“I’d love to visit the studio’s galleries once it’s safer to go outside”
“Definitely! I’ll keep you updated on any gatherings” Lek pitched excitedly.
“And I'll bring you guys homemade ube cakes and puto pao!” I teasingly replied back.
As our call came to a close I couldn’t help but ask Lek if she had any advice to give to budding AAPI artists.
“I’ll echo what people who have supported me have said in the past: trust yourself and trust that you can make a difference. It’s hard to figure out who you want to be when [the world] has expectations and demands from you. We’re lucky to live in a time where there’s so many possibilities. Figure out what you want to do authentically and genuinely, and go for it.”
Lek continues on, “Personally, it took me a long time to find my voice. When I was in grad school, I had a lot of doubt in myself because most visiting artists and curators couldn’t understand my work. What made it all worth it were the moments that people got [my voice] right away.”
Getting to know Lek and learning about her commitment to showcasing invisible stories has been awe-inspiring; it made me proud to be a Filipino American artist. And in the wake of our hurting AAPI community, I believe it’s incredibly important, now more than ever, to highlight and support works of people like Lek. People who have had to fight for their voice in this world, who our youth could look up to and be inspired to become.
