i can play piano and violin proficiently. i can also swim and play basketball relatively well. years of private lessons (that i did not enjoy all that much tbh) will do that.

figure skating but specifically team tutberidze and the havoc eteri has wreaked upon every skater she's touched. like all her students were/are so talented but none of these girls were/are okay. daria usacheva? retired at 16. kamila valieva? banned for 4 years after a doping scandal at the olympics when she was FIFTEEN. evgenia medvedeva? retired at 19 with a severe back injury. it's all so tragic.

i've also been thinking about figure skating more generally (partly because of the figure skating au i've been cooking) but it's a generally interesting sport.

last one and i'll stop. i think a lot of people are much prettier than they think. like all my friends in rl, they're all so insecure but they're all genuinely so beautiful in one way or another. i think i'd like my face a lot more if it wasn't mine.

Thread: Eteri Tutberidze and the team at Sambo 70 have a long and horrifying history of disregarding skater health, diminishing serious injuries, and forcing injured teenage athletes into premature retirement. All of this has been enabled by the ISU, judges, and commentators.

Kamila Valieva deserves better.

She should absolutely not be allowed to compete in the individual event and unfortunately I do believe that the gold medal should be stripped from the ROC team.

But none of this is her fault. She is a child. The adults around her have let her down immensely, Eteri Tutberidze and the rest of her coaching team have used and abused her and now they have thrown her to the wolves and destroyed her career before it's even begun.

The IOC, ISU and RusFed would be making a mockery of the sport and letting down all the athletes who don't use drugs to compete if they allow Kamila to skate in the Individual event.

None of this is Kamila's fault and she deserves better. I hope this is the beginning of the end for Sambo 70 and Tutberidze's abusive methods.
