1956 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible
The Eldorado was at or near the top of the Cadillac line. The original 1953 Eldorado convertible and the Eldorado Brougham models of 1957–1960 had distinct bodyshells and were the most expensive models that Cadillac offered those years. The Eldorado was never less than second in price after the Cadillac Series 75 limousine until 1966. Starting in 1967 the Eldorado retained its premium position in the Cadillac price structure, but was built in high volumes on a unique two door personal luxury car platform.
The Eldorado carried the Fleetwood designation from 1965 through 1972, and was a modern revival of the pre-war Cadillac V-12 and Cadillac V16 roadsters and convertibles. It was the first Cadillac model to use a nameplate instead of previous Series model descriptions.
In 1954, Eldorado lost its unique sheet metal and shared its basic body shell with standard Cadillacs. Distinguished now mainly by trim pieces, this allowed GM to lower the price and see a substantial increase in sales. A total of 2,150 Eldorado's were sold at a much more modest US$5,738 base price (equivalent to $57,899 in 2021 dollars , nearly four times as many as in 1953.
For 1956, the Eldorado's body gained its own rear end styling with high, slender, pointed tailfins. These contrasted with the rather thick, bulbous fins which were common at the time. The Eldorado sport convertible featured extras such as wide chrome body belt moldings and twin round taillights halfway up the fenders. Sales nearly doubled to 3,950.0

xigbar:
Tumblr media
a grey 1980s eldorado cadillac convertible. the pic is for the make model---it's actually beat all to hell and, as i said on his previous blog, "would likely make a vintage car aficionado burst into tears"
kimbley:
Tumblr media
1970s black cadillac fleetwood miller/meteor landau three-way hearse. it's kept clean and pristine at all times despite the countless blood splatters it has seen
kuja
okay listen. i'm not saying that he would have a golden palanquin on hand for his various dramatic entrances---
Tumblr media
buuuuut when he has to go via wheels...
Tumblr media
a purple e-type jaguar. unlike xig and kimbley, he's all about being overtly flashy and having everyone gasp at how gorgeous his ride is. he also prefers to have a chauffeur because.. yknow.... that's How He Is

Savage New Canaan Classic Cars - Buick's History
The Buick muscle cars known as the GS 400, and the mighty GSX were known as "Gentleman's Cars". Buicks proved high performing in the sixties, and early part of the seventies. Any classic Buick fan will tell you that Buick's marketing strategy was below the Cadillac. Buicks were a noble breed, and often referred to as cars a doctor would be driving. Buicks birth into the muscle car industry happened in 1965.
Buick offered Gran Sport options for the Wildcat, and the Riviera. These vehicles were splendid manly-type cars, but not your classic muscle machine. This version changed drastically with the birth of the Buick Skylark that shared its design with the Tempest that Pontiac used for the foundation of the popular GTO. The company came out with a mid-sized sedan with mid-sized performance in the middle eighties with the GNX, and the Grand National that contained V-6 engines.
Savage New Canaan
Before the Electra 225, the Limited, and the Roadmaster was the "Big Boys" of Buick's legendary lineup. In 1959, these cars were renamed the Electra. The car earned its name "deuce and a quarter" due to the overall length of the nameplate which stemmed 225 inches. These models shared six window hardtops with the Cadillac Fleetwood.
A standard two-door convertible and a standard four-door hardtop shared a stripped chassis. 144 of these cars were produced between the years 1959, and 1960. In 1962, the Wildcat evolved after mating the Invicta long full-size two-door hardtop body with the high performance 435 hp version of the 401 cu in Nailhead V-8 which was known as the Wildcat 445 for producing 445 ft. * 1bf of torque. It contained the Dynaflow transmission, and distinctive side trimming, distinctive emblems and a vinyl roof.

Buick has used the name "Wildcat" for five vehicles that stem from the fifties, eighties, and nineties. The 1953-54-55 versions were designed under the watchful eye of Harley Earl. The 1985 version contains a mid-sized engine, and is an all-wheel-drive sports car with sporting a V-6 engine. The 1997 version contains carbon fiber instead of the viscous wood grain trim, and the engine was modified.
In 1982, The Regal Grand National was introduced to the market. The name derived from the NASCAR Grand National racing series. Buick won the Manufacturers Cup in 1981-82, and they wanted to flaunt their success. The company had only intended to produce one hundred of these cars, but they ran with the plan to retrofit 215 Regals with the GN and GNX package.
The Reatta was the first advertised two-seater of Buick. It was deemed a luxury sports coupe that was crafted in Lansing Michigan and sold by GM from 1988 to 1991. The design was based on a shorter version of the GM E platform used in Cadillac Eldorado's and the Oldsmobile Toronado's. It was a compact sports car, but sadly, it was only offered with automatic transmission.

1960 Cadillac Convertible - My guess is this is a 1960 Cadillac 62 Series Convertible El Dorado. Some people called it a Fleetwood. Production remained at 1450 units, exactly the same as the year before, while the division's overall production rose substantially. The Cadillac Series 62 is a series of cars which was produced by Cadillac from 1940 through 1964. #caddie #cadillac #fleetwood #series62 #convertible #eldorado #blue #fins (at The Taco Stand Encinitas) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp2uzNiAhwf/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ts28eo2m5uco

The story of the Ecto-1, the Ghostbusters' car...
Tumblr media
The Cadillac Miller-Meteor was one of the protagonists of Ghostbusters. It's no coincidence that the director decided to dust it off for the disastrous sequel... We're obviously talking about the car that in Ghostbuster 1 and 2 helped the iconic Ghostbusters to move through the streets of haunted New York. We try to retrace the interesting story behind what has become a protagonist of the film over the years. The original Ectomobile is a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor converted into an ambulance by Miller-Meteor.
Miller and Meteor were initially competing companies. Wayne Corporation, an Indiana company that produced buses, in order to diversify its production, first, in 1954, bought the Meteor Motor Car (which built limousines and ambulances) and two years later the A.J. Miller Company, which produced hearses and ambulances. Thanks to Wayne's alignment, Miller-Meteor was born in 1957.
The model that later became the Ecto-1 left the Piqua, Ohio plant in 1959 (a total of 400 units were produced). One of the peculiarities of this car were the huge rear fins, the same as the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado, and the rear wheels that were half covered by the bodywork.
The Cadillac Miller-Meteor is a huge station wagon, more than six meters long and weighing a good three tons. In order to push such a sheet of metal there was an absolute need for an "American-style" V8, with a generous 6.3 litre cubic capacity and capable of delivering 320 horsepower. Despite the generous tonnage, the Cadillac Miller-Meteor's handling was quite fluid thanks to an air suspension system.
The car was chosen mainly for the maxi-dimensions, useful to contain all the various equipment needed to chase away the ghosts. In short, it was an undoubtedly pragmatic car. In the original idea of Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis, who, besides being protagonists of the film, contributed to the genesis of the car, the Ecto-1 should have been completely black, with purple and white strobe lights. However, the idea of the black livery was discarded from production after the cinematographer pointed out that most of the scenes would be shot at night.
The recordist Ivan Reitman then contacted the designer Stephen Dane and commissioned him to design and supervise the development of the Ecto-1 from scratch. So here comes the Ecto-01 as we know it today: white livery, logo on the sides and sirens on the roof. Dane also designed all the equipment for the Ghostbusters, including the famous proton backpack, all in record time of two weeks.
For promotional purposes, the Ecto-1 was driven by one of the protagonists of Ghostbusters (in costume) in New York shortly after the film's release in 1984, causing a series of collisions caused by drivers distracted by the passage of the bulky station. The "death" of Ecto-1 occurred on the set of Ghostbusters 2. In the film you can clearly see that in a scene shot on the Brooklyn Bridge the car emits a little reassuring grey smoke. The car was then replaced with another Miller-Meteor bought by the production, which was then converted and named Ecto-1a.
The deceased Ecto-1 was then abandoned in one of Universal Studios' warehouses. However, the many fans managed to buy the car and put it back into shape and subjected it to meticulous restoration work.
It is the details, the fetishes, that make a film immortal. The Ecto-1 had all these qualities contributing to the "collective memory" of the Ghostbusters. The production was in fact very good at not choosing a beautiful car, but a "particular" car, able to break into the hearts of fans thanks to some details like the huge fins. It is no coincidence that the 1984 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, which was chosen for the all-female Ghostbusters of 2016, was not at all appreciated by fans. And it's no coincidence that the clever Jason Reitman chose to return the legendary Cadillac Miller-Meteor to the scene.

Breaking The Law “Breaking the Law” is a song by British heavy metal band Judas Priest, originally released on their 1980 album British Steel. The song is one of the band’s better known singles, and is readily recognized by its opening guitar riff. Directed by Julien Temple, the video starts with vocalist Rob Halford singing from the back of a 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado convertible traveling along on the Westway section of the A40 in West London. The lyrics tell of someone at the rock bottom in their life – out of work, unable to find work, frustrated, feeling that nobody cares if they live or die, eventually turning to crime for survival.
The song made VH1’s 40 Greatest Metal Songs at No. 40. In 2009 it was named the 12th greatest hard rock song of all time by VH1. $

Cadillac Sedan DeVille (1965)
