Experiential Learning at CIS: Empowering Students to Apply Knowledge
The pandemic took away many of our opportunities - seeing family and friends, travelling, going out for dinner, or trying new hobbies. It limited our range of accessible activities, and this affected everyone, especially children. As we move forward out of the pandemic, we realise the benefits of real-life learning opportunities that support and connect to the academics within the classroom. For far too long, rote and didactic methods have been used, and the learning has not been student-centred, meaning students have taken a passive role in their education. With the opportunities that experiential learning creates, students take an active role in their learning and drive the way forward.

"What if I'm not trans, what if I'm choosing to be trans for [list of reasons]"
I am grabbing you by the shoulders and shaking you like a can of soda. If, for whatever reason, you looked within yourself and decided to be trans - you're still trans. We (as trans people) don't need to have an "I always knew" story. We don't need to have the ~magical transsexual gene~. It's incredibly hard for so many of us to figure out why we're trans, and if being trans was always a choice, the reasons for choosing to be trans would be complex. If being trans is always a choice, that doesn't negate that we deserve human dignity and respect for who we are.
It shouldn't matter if you chose your trans identity or not, becayse you still are a person. You breath the same air I do, and you deserve to live how you want, on your terms. You watch the same sunrises and sunsets I do, you are here. I, for one, welcome you no matter what your inner reflections are about your transness. You have a place in this world, you have inherent worth.

i will always dislike the stereotype that cisgender men are just beings who only think / care about sex, so my cis men out there who are asexual or just genuinely don't think sex is that important, you are seen and will always be valid :D /gen

very very weird when people act like only trans & nb people have complicated relationships with gender and are the True Understanders of the violence of our deeply gendered world. beyond the fact of how troubled cis girls and women grow as they experience gender in a misogynistic world, are we supposed to act like every poc doesnt become aware at some point of just how eurocentric gender expectations are, and how dysphoric that makes you? how alienated from your own body and sex? this is just me talking from the experience of being forcibly held down and waxed at 8yrs old for being a hairy latina and constantly getting called manly at school for having a mustache and body hair. sighh i really just need white trans people to stop pretending they intrinsically have an understanding of gender so far above everyone else's

School Community Association (SCA) - School and Parents Active Partnership
Our CAS program supports the 3Cs of learning – Conceptual, Competency and Character learning. Students can extend their subject learning to their CAS experiences and vice versa. It will strengthen their subject understanding and knowledge and allow them to enjoy different approaches to their subjects. By engaging in and documenting their CAS experiences, the students:
develop and enhance their thinking, communication, social, self-management, and research skills (ATL skills)
practise and demonstrate the IB learner profile attributes in real and practical ways; to be ‘inquirers’, ‘knowledgeable’, ‘thinkers’, ‘communicators’, ‘principled’, ‘open-minded’, ‘caring’, ‘risk-takers’, ‘balanced’ and ‘reflective’
develop an appreciation for and regularly practise CIS core values of ‘Joy’, ‘Caring’, ‘Integrity’, ‘Inspiration’ and ‘Respect’
CAS experiences must be distinct from, and may not be included or used, in the student’s Diploma course requirements.
Do visit our school's website for more information about CAS Program: or contact us at E:

really dislike the idea that being gender nonconforming immediately means you’re not allowed to be upset at getting misgendered… are only trans people who adhere to their gender stereotypes allowed to feel upset about something so personal? doesn’t make any sense. dressing like your agab doesn’t immediately mean you don’t deal with any trans issues ¿

In a recent staff post, tumblr staff said that only a quarter of tumblr is lgbtq, and I don’t think anyone’s really convinced of those numbers. Ik this post might not reach that many people but…
(Edit: oh my god guys ik the results are biased okay?? Unfortunately that’s just how polls work. Check my reblog tho gay, was literally the 2nd most trending tag last night. Even if you refuse to believe the statistical literacy of this poll you can still observe that tumblr is still largely very gay compared to the average social media. I talk more about this in a reblog but god. I get it. Polls have never been that good at gathering unbiased results)

The weirdest thing I see cis people do is misunderstanding how trans labels work so for any cis person who may need this...
Trans man, trans male, transmasc, or other variations of transmasculinity refers most typically to a person who is transitioning towards masculinity in identity, not away from it. A trans man would be a person who is transitioning towards manhood, for example (such as a person who is FTM).
Trans woman, trans female, transfem, or other variations of transfemininity refers most typically to a person who is moving towards femininity in identity, not away from it. A trans woman is transitioning towards womanhood.
There will always be exceptions to these guidelines, however, I find that cis people often mistakenly apply incorrect labels because they are trying to communicate what they think a trans person's assigned gender/sex is. The trans community will focus on the current identity one holds to communicate who we are. I am a trans male because I am bother trans and male and because it is my current identity, if it helps you understand.

cis gay men r here with the worst takes of all sometimes because its like theyre so naive to the realities women experience at the hands of men but they also dont question their allegiance to the institutions of patriarchy and manhood when it serves them. do u know how often i see cis gay guys basically claiming that they can’t be misogynistic bc they arent attracted to women. which is a whole can of worms on its own but its telling that they see all misogyny as a result of sexual attraction and not like an ideology of power & control. mb youre not dehumanising women by viewing us as sexual objects for your pleasure but you still don’t see us as possessing the same complex humanity as you and sometimes you still fundamentally understand us as sex objects for OTHER men n think ur just a privileged outside observer to it all. genuinely the worst type of guy
