I think he should be dragged kicking and screaming into redemption.

oh i rewatched the sonic movies AND the knuckles show recently and with sonic 3 out this week i think it's time to share the wishlist i made of crazy things i want to see in the third movie. these are NOT genuine predictions and most would probably make the movie actively worse, but i want them to happen because. i think it would be funny. this list is curated to my specific tastes in trash and my tastes alone

Something something Robotnik spent so much of his life having to make joy for himself on his own that he didn't realise Stone was important to him until Gerald tried to kill him and shattered his pre-concieved notions of what love was.

Being an orphan had a part in how he perceived the idea of love. He never had any friends, no romantic partners, because to him, there was no expectation that someone would inherently love him just for the sake of it. He was 'undesirable'. So, he entertained himself with his creations, and with his own personality.

He latched onto the chance to connect with his grandfather in Sonic 3 because to him, that relationship is where he expected to find someone who loved him on the basis that they were family.

Stone brought him happiness in ways so simple...

that it wasn't until he was about to die that Robotnik clocked it as genuine care and affection. Something that Gerald never felt for him, and only Stone had ever given him.

anyway tonight I’m thinking about meandering to the passenger cabin to bother Dan Heng in the archives and ask him annoying but sincere questions about what he’s doing. thinking about settling in to flick through some book or another while he works, breaking only to perform little tasks like data retrieval for him when he asks you to in that pretty voice of his and of course you do because you love feeling included in his work and of course he doesn’t say it but he loves including you.

thinking about leaning against him or hugging him from behind to press subtle kisses to his shoulders and back while he inputs information and him not even flinching because you do this every evening you both spend on the Express anymore. thinking about yawning into Dan Heng’s arm or his back and cuddling up to him with droopy eyelids and him telling you to quit waiting up for him (he sounds passive but he really does care about you and your wellbeing).

thinking about how he’ll dim the lights and lead you by your hands over to his messy little bed and let you crawl beneath the blanket while he busies himself for another hour or two. thinking about how Dan Heng will shut the lights off all the way and tiptoe over to where you’re hoarding his pillow for yourself and how he’ll smile just a touch wider than he usually does because you’re so adorable drooling onto his comforter.

thinking about how Dan Heng does his best to wiggle his way behind you, under what little bit of blanket and into what sliver of pillow he can catch; he slings an arm over your waist and in your sleep you fumble to tangle your fingers together with his. thinking about how he rests so well with his chin on the crown of your head and legs intertwined with yours. thinking about how, when his disciplined body wakes itself up early, he doesn’t move; he wants to just lay there, listen to you breathe, and return those ghostly kisses from last night into your hair.

thinking about how, even when you do wake, Dan Heng uncharacteristically wants to just stay in bed with you. he’s found himself looking forward to your bleary eyes, morning voice, and clinginess, and it’s rare his restlessness ever allows him to appreciate it so fully. thinking about turning over in his grasp, running your fingers through his bedhead, just kissing him dreamily and softly mapping out one another’s skin until you’re wholly awake. you ask him what he wants to do, and he tells you just this.

Hien & Benichidori compilation

Okay so I put a & but this absolutely a shippy post, the hienichidori community is quiet af and there is no discourse but their comics in their Adventurer’s Bible profiles…!!! Many may ask, does Benichidori canonically have a crush on Hien?! Straightforward answer: It’s left heavily implied but yes. Alternate answer: If the framing of Falin in an explosion as Toshiro says that he loves her isn’t meant to associate the explosion with falling in love when it is mirrored in the next page, then… I think it’s a mix of both, I don’t think just this is true because Hien wouldn’t know who Shuro is talking about or even what Falin looks like, but it could be that the explosion is instead meant to show a world vision being shaken, the thing blowing you away. So for Hien, having Shuro say that breaks this unsaid assumption she’s always had that they might end up together, and thus Falin is taken like an explosion to the face. Similarly, for someone with facial dysmorphia and for who appearances and being subservient are everything, having Hien be confident and totally assume her plain looks, even uplifting herself, that also shakes her world like a bomb. And yes it’s not just about the makeup!! Benichidori’s drawn to her confidence, to her unapologetic attitude, to her attitude. Benichidori unexpectedly snapped at Hien too, but she was totally unshaken and she replied casually and lightheartedly even then; Benichidori saying she can be herself with Hien is about Hien not caring about her mask, both her makeup and her subdued demeanor. Hien is canonically special to Benichidori.

And on the note of that comic, I took a picture from my Adventurer’s Bible for this but I think the fantranslations I’ve seen are lovely too, really gets across all the meaning of the original sentence… Where Benichidori said "She was the only one I could be my unadorned self in front of" (which is my fave) or "I’m able to act my honest self with her". Benichidori having body(more specifically facial) dysmorphia is explicitly stated in the Adventurer’s Bible btw.

Pleasee how Hien’s extra is her talking about her life story and Toshiro to Benichidori… How Hien says "That guy is blind!" and Benichidori says "I’ve noticed that 😊" as if saying that Toshiro is blind to what a catch Hien is… Also in the ninja girls’ shared inn room Benichidori puts her futon next to Hien’s bed.
