1 | Jonathan Hallam

Jonathan Hallam was a photographer for Margiela between 1996-2006. I am most intrigued by his photographs of Margiela staff, taken directly on photographic paper using expired film. The outcomes remind me of polaroid photography, where the outcome is often out of focus and the process is very spontaneous.

2 | Petra Collins

Petra Collins is a photographer exclusively shooting on 35mm film. Her images explores themes of femininity, sexuality and identity. Her colour grading is very 'american dream', however her subject matter contrasts the bright colour choice.

3 | Pentagram

Pentagram is the world's largest design firm. I like how they are able to adapt to different clients, no matter the client vision. They are able to design from minimalism to maximalism.

4 | Maison Margiela

Founded by Martin Margiela in 1988, the fashion house is known for deconstructed and avant-garde garments. Up until 1997, their labels were kept completely bare on garments as Martin Margiela wanted to create a brand with no branding. In 1977, a modular logo using a numbering system was introduced as the house began to introduce a larger variety of products that expanded out of clothing. Each number on the logo represents a different collection, and the corresponding number would be circled on the specific products. Margiela is also responsible for popularising the tradition Japanese tabi shoe.

5 | Na Kim

Na Kim is a NYC based illustrator, specialising in book covers. She is also the current Art Director of the magazine 'The Paris Review'. I love how she is able to condense the core concept and the title of the book into something graphic that is immediately recognisable to the reader.

6 | Droga5

One of the top creative agencies in the world. They create a variety of campaigns for brands, except they aren't created in the typical way. Almost all their campaigns follow a narrative, a story that the viewer unravels as they dive deeper into a campaign.

7 | Ladislav Sutnar

Czech Republic based designer Ladislab Sutnar was one of the pioneers of information design and information architecture. His style is usually classified as Contrustivism, with Bauhaus fundamentals. His designs aimed to provide mass amounts of information to the reader in a concise and organsied way. He often used punctuation symbols such as parenthesis to help organise information.

8 | Phoebe Philo

Phoebe Philo is a fashion designer most well for her years as the creative director of Céline. Her designs are defined by clean lines, minimalism, and a tonal colour palette. Based on the female gaze, Phoebe Philo redefined what the modern women wants to wear, considering the functionality and comfort of the garments she designs. Since stepping down from Céline as the creative director, her designs are highly sought after on the resale market.

9 | Ann Demeulemeester

Ann Demeulemeester is a fashion designer, part of the infmaous Antwerp Six. Though she dosen't want to put a label on her style, her designs create a dark and glamorous aesthetic, paired with elegant tailoring. Her style is very similar to those who fall under the anti-fashion category, such as Yohji Yamamoto.

10 | George Platt Lynes

George Platt Lynes was an American commercial and fashion photographer, working between 1930-1940s, mostly photographing gay artists and writers at the time. At the time, his photographs were considered taboo and mailing them around would've resulted in jail time or a fine. His photographs are highly stylised, expressionistic, yet minimalist and suggestive in nature.

j’ai commencé à lire eva baltasar, je m’étais commandé ses deux livres pour noël et ils surpassent toutes mes espérances. eva baltasar écrit tout ce que j’aimerais écrire, comme j’aimerais l’écrire. je sais pas à quel point c’est autobiographique mais on s’en fout, la sensibilité et l’honnêteté de l’autobio y sont. la mort omniprésente et l’humour désopilant qui l’accompagne parfois, les métaphores avec la nature (ses livres s’appellent permafrost et boulder), la métaphore du rocher, du rocher! eva! c’était la mienne!! et puis sa façon de parler de sa dévotion pour les femmes et les tonnes de sexe. j’ai l’impression qu’elle parle de moi dans une autre vie, une vie où j’aurais des tonnes de sexe et d’autres traumas. sa façon de parler des femmes dont elle tombe amoureuse me rend folle. j’ai l’impression de m’y reconnaître. j’adore parler des femmes dont je tombe amoureuse, même de loin, à distance et à sens unique. j’ose même pas imaginer ce que ce serait si j’osais m’en approcher. si je m’en donnais le droit. si je les voyais pas comme des êtres inatteignables tels un sommet de montagne ou la californie. à commencer par j. l’inatteignable originelle, la non intéressée ultime qui a posé le premier jalon de ma longue liste d’amours malheureuses. 

9 février

toujours pas allée à sète j’ai la flemme de faire des choses toute seule. je marche jusqu’au cap d’agde en passant par la plage, pas plus loin, parce que ça requiert aucune organisation ni d’horaires. peut être que le temps arrête vraiment d’exister sur la plage. j’ai accompagné maman et c. à béziers à la place. pendant qu’elles étaient chez castorama dans la zone industrielle j’ai retrouvé sur mon téléphone l’extrait d’un livre sur les artistes et l’argent avec le témoignage d’une poétesse qui voulait pas travailler. jusqu’à maintenant elle vivait d’une bourse régionale de 1500 euros et maintenant elle espère pouvoir les gagner avec ses lectures, ateliers d’écriture, etc. elle disait qu’elle avait pas besoin de grand chose et y avait des photos de ses tickets de caisse du magasin bio où elle achète que des légumes et des fruits et elle mange rien d’autre. elle a gagné un prix, elle a publié des livres et elle espère donner des cours d’écriture créative, peut être à l’université. j’ai envie de lire tout le livre pour avoir d’autres exemples. c’est tellement mystérieux comme sujet, comment les artistes arrivent à vivre.

c’était un peu nul béziers, j’ai vu la mairie où j’ai été enregistrée à ma naissance, le palais de justice tout en haut à côté de l’église st. nazaire où mon père est allé demander l’autorité parentale parce qu’ils étaient pas mariés, et j’ai peut être vu la maternité où je suis née mais maman était plus sûre si c’était ça. dans la voiture elles parlaient de leurs souvenirs de 1978 en disant ça fait 48 ans et depuis le siège arrière j’ai dit non 1978 ça fait 44 ans parce que c’est l’année où est née ma sainte trinité de lesbiennes multidisciplinaires: rebeka warrior, céline sciamma et eva baltasar, la petite nouvelle, et je sais exactement l’âge qu’elles ont. j’ai fini boulder ce matin, je l’ai serré contre mon coeur, précieux précieux trésor, même s’il y est beaucoup question de bébé et de maternité ou le sujet le moins intéressant du monde.

j’ai déménagé sur la plage, y avait les assainisseurs de canalisations chez nous dont un qui reniflait sans arrêt tout en chantonnant baila baila conmiga et c’était au dessus de mes forces. ce matin j’ai marché jusqu’au cap de nouveau, je me suis promenée dans l’avant-port j’ai traversé un pont vers l’île des cauchemars j’ai traversé un autre pont un petit parc et une petite colline d'herbe constellée de fleurs blanches au bord de l’eau derrière aqualand et je me sentais vide, mais j’étais pas sûre si c’était vraiment du vide. je me suis demandé si j’avais besoin d’intensité dans ma vie pour me sentir remplie.

les livres d’eva baltasar m’ont donné une envie urgente de partir loin et de faire un truc radical. dans permafrost c’est moyennement radical, elle quitte barcelone pour aller s’installer à bruxelles parce qu’elle a besoin de changer d’air et elle donne des cours particuliers d’espagnol à une directrice de chez c&a dont elle tombe amoureuse et qui lui demande de l’épouser. dans boulder elle est cuisinière et elle vit sur des cargos et des bateaux de pêche à voyager de port en port. sur la côte chilienne elle rencontre une islandaise qui mange un gâteau au citron dans un café et elle part vivre avec elle à reykjavik. bon après ça se gâte et elle repart travailler sur un bateau de croisière qui va au groenland. elle dit que pour rien au monde elle aimerait être à la place des passagers de la croisière, des touristes qui la dégoûtent parce qu’elle a l’impression qu’ils font que consommer la vie. je crois que je la comprends. je crois aussi que j’ai besoin de partir loin et de faire un truc radical pour me sortir de mon sommeil de zombie, de la routine du confort et du luxembourg, de ma codépendance avec maman, etc.

en marchant sur la plage aussi je pensais à cybille et à un moment je savais tellement plus quoi faire de mon désir que je me suis tournée vers la mer pour l’éponger, enfin pour le noyer plutôt, pour le calmer en le confrontant à quelque chose d’encore plus grand, d’encore plus fort, d’encore moins maîtrisable.

So I didn’t realise how much I was yapping about jeff skinner until now so I decided to add a “keep reading” line or it would take up so much dashboard space 😭 but enjoy this jeff skinner info dump

But yeah Jeff Skinner won the Calder with the Carolina Hurricanes and was drafted 7th overall in 2010, he’s played over 1000 games— but something funny about him and the Calder, the NHL awards where held in Las Vegas at Palms Casino Resort in the food court and you have to be 21 to get enter the casino floor which led to the food court but Jeff was 19 at the time and people were theorising if he was going to have trouble entering the floor, but he had no trouble entering so it was all good 👍

But Jeff Skinner letting the fans choose his suit is iconic: these were the 3 suits (he looks so dead inside in the 2nd photo) the first suit won

Jeff was called the Bieber of hockey by fans because he was a young bieber-ish looking guy and the captain at the time Eric Staal said this about jeff;
