#17 - Best Mikey

I got two of 'em! First, our wonderful baby boy from 2k3! And I, of course, don't need to give you all the reasons I love him!

And second, Mikey from the Archie run! Until 2k3 came out, he was THE Mikey in my mind. I loved his characterization, and I honestly believe that the 2k3 crew based their version on him.

The poor guy did go through hell, though. He got blinded by a Molotov cocktail, then was captured and tortured by the government.

But even after all the doctor put him through, Mikey still had the heart to save him when he was drowning.

(Also... damn, Donnie...)

He also happened to be one half of the only TMNT ship I ever actually had... and certainly the only one I ever wrote anything for (even If I was the only one writing anything for that ship!)

Oh, yeah... and in the future, he becomes an artist and runs an orphanage!

💵 How do your turtles make money? Or do they only scavenge?

For the most part, they haven't needed to worry about money, since they have lived in a well-stocked fallout shelter in New York since they were four years old. Because of that, they have always had (preserved) food, clothing, games, books, etc. However, they do on occasion steal fresh food, electronics, martial arts equipment, medical supplies, etc.

April helps them out when she comes along, as well; and she even arranges for Don to work for the Daily News making cryptograms and crossword puzzles, which nets him a paycheck.

😍 Are there any romances in your au?

Not at the moment, but I have been toying with the idea of bringing Oyuki in... not strictly as a romantic interest for Mike, but also because I just like her character!

Because I am hopeless, I created a collection dedicated to Oyuki & Oyuki/Michelangelo on AO3! There's only two fics on there right now (both mine) and one bookmark (to an orphaned account), but I am planning in the future to add Oyuki to more universes!

9. Beach day- who collects shells, who gets buried, who starts a splash war, who brought the snacks and sunscreen?

Oyuki collects the shells, and she has a lot of them! Sometimes she will give the smaller ones to Mikey so he can make jewelry and such out of them!

Mikey gets buried by Oyuki. He loves how cool the sand is, but it is sometimes annoying to get sand under his shell!

Mike starts the splash war, but Oyuki definitely finishes it!

They both bring snacks, though Oyuki brings the salty stuff and Mikey brings the sweets. They both forget to bring anything to drink!

Oyuki is the only one that needs sunscreen, but she often forgets it, so Mikey always brings some along (bonus: he gets to put it on her back!).

15. What's a thoughtful gift they've gotten each other?

Oyuki never had a comfortable home life, even before she ran away, so Mikey is always trying to make sure she is comfortable. Her favorite gift from him was a soft and fuzzy blanket that she sleeps with every night, and that is just big enough for the two of them to snuggle together under while they are watching movies.

For her part, Oyuki never knows what kind of gift to give anybody, including Mikey; but she did spot a very old cookbook at a thrift store one time and got it for him, knowing he would appreciate it. Turns out she underestimated his reaction, and he damn near cried because he liked it so much! Since then, he has slowly been going through the recipes, determined to try them all (with Oyuki as his willing taste-tester).

(The cookbook... is my cookbook! The one I mentioned in this post!)
