Surprise! I actually got another art in the honor of Valentine's Day. This was something that I did only for practice, but I decided it be best to post it now! These are my top favorite RRB x PPG couples, I love them so much! If you do not like these couples, please do keep your opinions to yourself.

Okay alterations time! Let's see how much I get done this afternoon!
First up a snazzy blouse; the cuffs and sleeves on this are a little annoying, so I'm chopping them down to capped sleeves which I tend to prefer on blouses anyway!
Tumblr media
I made this blouse all the way back in 2019, I decided just to make the basic one before making option B.
This blouse has an invisible button band, which is a style that I prefer, and has the good idea of reducing the amount of fabric at the hem.

But it wouldn't stay closed to hide the buttons. So I ended up sewing tacs into the band. Also I wasn't aware of under stitching which I prefer to top stitching.

Pattern Overload!
Tumblr media
I have a LOT of doll patterns that I've picked up over the years of hoarding fabric and patterns I was planning on making when I 'got better' at sewing.
I was planning on getting better via osmosis - the knowledge in the fibers and the paper instructions would magically seep into my brain despite my never actually practicing, reading or using any of them.
So aside from a huge stash of fabric with no patterns in mind, and a whole BUNCH of patterns that I now find I have no desire to make....
These are here. I'll got through them one by one for ease:
My Etsy patterns are from Pemberley Threads - these are historical patterns based on actual dresses worn in the past. I LOVE historical dress and am really excited to start these but I'm a little nervous as they are... complicated!
PemberleyThreads:
Elizabeth 1780s Jacket and Petticoat
ย Anne Shirtwaist and Skirt
Antoinette 18th Century Cap and Stays Corset
Charlotte 1780s Robe a l'Anglaise

Big Blooms Print Dress: The Layout, or How Did I Do?
I must confess that I was so focused on getting the front bodice lay out just right that I really did not think enough about the skirt. For the front bodice, I wanted to feature a motif, but one in a softer color, have enough background white in the middle, make sure the motifs and colors harmonized where the two bodices pieces created the illusion of surplice, or wrap.ย  I laid the pattern pieces in several places to see the results. I think it worked out very with the motif spreading across the center, getting paler as it goes as the whole idea was to make sure that it did not overwhelm the wearer--me!
I was so focused on the bodice that I thought far less about the skirt layout. I an a little worried at having the pale but large leaf in peach hitting in the middle right below the waist. On the other hand, it is part of a larger motif, so maybe it does not make anyone else think of a fig-leaf?
In any case, I decided then that a sash--not a belt--should accompany the dress with enough of the peach-colored leaf to blur the location of that color and that leaf. Stay tuned to see how it worked out.
This is Butterick 6582, a re-issued pattern from 1960. It comes in both a slim sheath and in this wide-skirted version which created the hour-glass figure that was so popular in the 1950s.
