During making a gifset for today's chapter, I found this sentence.

Cosette had been taught housekeeping in the convent, and she regulated their expenditure, which was very modest.

Vol. 4, Book 3, Chpater 2.

The nuns taught her housekeeping which literally meaning chores and other houseworks. But thinking about her childhood, I think this class would be one of the most hard classes for her, bring back the bad memories of that horrible inn. What would you think about this?

Locations of Les Mis - Jean Valjean's Journey

Okay, so JVJ starts his life in Faverolles, Brie (modern Aisne — thanks @vapaus-ystavyys-tasaarvo).

Then he was put in chains in Bicêtre (in Paris)

and continued on his way to Toulon, where he was in prison for 19 years.

The day after his release, he was underpaid for his labor in Grasse (was told 30 sous but, after showing his papers, was only paid 15 sous)

and several days later was in Brignolles, Digne where he was denied food and shelter but met the Bishop (inspired by the historical Bishop of Digne).

He was supposed to be going to Pontarlier next to work in the dairy farms

but instead went on to Montreuil-sur-Mer (Fantine's hometown and where she'd later return after Tholomyès left), arriving "just at nightfall, on a December evening" in 1815. What I suspect happened in the interim is that JVJ went to Paris before setting out for this town that he heard was good for cottage industries (and away from Faverolles, where he knew he would be searched for) (and anyway, last he heard his sister and niblings had moved to Paris as well) (OH SHIT was his first instinct to seek them out in Paris???). (Map updated, thank you to @baloo394 for the correction!)

In early March 1823 when Champmathieu was on trial in Arras, JVJ went through great lengths to travel from Montrieul-sur-Mer to there, leaving at 5AM and arriving at "nearly eight o'clock in the evening" despite all of the hindrances.

He then returns to Montrieul-sur-Mer to see Fantine die and be re-arrested. He escapes for three or four days, allowing him time to bury his money in the woods near Montfermeil (which Boulatruelle sees and is haunted by for the rest of his days) — Montfermeil also being where Fantine stopped on her way from Paris to Montrieul-sur-Mer and deposited Cosette with the Thénardiers —

after which he was found in Paris "at the very moment when he was entering one of those little vehicles which run between the capital and the village of Montfermeil (Seine-et-Oise)" (2.2.1). (What was the PLAN JVJ??? You went to Montfermeil, then on to Paris, and then ... what, were gonna backtrack back to Montfermeil? Did they report inaccurately and you'd just arrived in Paris? What did you go on to Paris to do?????)

He then next appears at the Court of Assizes of the Var (see the green in the bottom right-hand corner?) not long before 25 July 1823. I assume this is because he robbed Petit-Gervais while in that region.

After this, he was returned to Toulon.

Orion entered Toulon's port late October 1823, and JVJ made his unlikely escape 17 November 1823.

24 December 1823, we know that JVJ finally arrives in Montfermeil to retrieve Cosette,

after which they escape to Paris where they remain more or less the rest of the book (besides JVJ's periodic Monfermeil excursions).

#these aren't all of them just a random collection but just thinking about how much him not talking is such a strong part of his character #which is. well i think some of it is just that he's naturally quiet but some of it is definitely something that's grown in him over time #like when we first see him in digne he talks a Lot more than when we see him again in montreuil. which is probably bc he then has something #to hide but the way that him having something to hide ends up bleeding this sort of silence over into the rest of his life. hh.#there's more of these particularly there's a lot where it goes like. someone says something to him. he does something in response. they say #another thing. he does something in response. they say something else. he does something in response #<- so it's like a dialogue except actually they're the only ones talking #there's like whole sections of text that are just like this. whole conversations he's in that only really have one vocal participant #anyways. uox faucibus haesit coded of him for real :(#thoughts #les mis #also thinking abt how i think this is a big part of why he comes across differently in the musical. which is not the fault of the musical #bc it's just not possible to do in that medium i think . but it does chance things impression wise #Also this paralleled with all the places cosette is described as quiet/not talking when he first goes to get her

Every time I see something about Shoujo Cosette I feel blessed that it's the reason I got into Les Misérables.

A beautiful close adaptation of the book with nice changes, so when reading the book you don't feel like you're reading something different from what you've watched and loved but at the same time, you are excited and shocked by the changes in the anime.

My absolute favorite adaptation!

so this is what i've been thinking about... PLEASEEEE SEND ME ASKS OR REQUESTS FOR THEM!! I would love to explain as much as i can/draw more doodles of them... Also if anyone could come up with a name to call these designs i would appreciate it, because i'm not sure..

These are a collection of polished doodles from the last few days. I really liked the shape-y animals i could assign each charachter. Here are mostly Valjean and Javert, but Cosette's design is on here too!!! I assigned them the animals purely based on vibe and certain connections the brick makes. I also have a few designs for les amis and the thenardiers but i'm kinda working on those.... I have to admit if the Amis weren't such special charachters they would all have been beavers (barricade haha get it? Get it??) so:
