Prompt Day 28: Bring your mer to work day
Prompt list by: @intistone
Posting like 1 day earlier because tomorrow i will visit relatives for the entire day and there doesn't have Internet :' D
Characters:
Yamitsuki: Tall woman with black hair and violet eyes.
Minerva: Smol child with black curly hair, red eyes and dark skin + some deep blue lines on her face.
Michelle: Chill Receptionist who actually is a selkie disguised as a female human, her seal skin is somewhere XD
There's not much about Michelle since i quite literally invented her while drawing.
That's my last drawing of Mermay 2023 : D
Couldn't do the entire prompt list because i got sick one day T-T but at least I made like 14 drawings.
ANYWAY, as you guys know, Yami is the owner of a big network of companies, although her main one is a military company, which yeh means richly rich lady. Minerva wanted to see it and Yami brought her to the company for work day, Min even got all pretty and cute for coming over and is looking like a businesswoman like her mom XD
About the device: It's similar to an illusion disc, but way more friendly, like it doesn't have the ability of making weird asf and nightmare fuel illusions, but it can make a human disguise for most creatures and make them invisible. It can be used as an accessory, being the device a necklace, ring or other accessories, an example is that Minerva's device is the choker she's using. Do you see that small diamond shaped metal object? It's the device. Yami created this object for the sirens of her family, like Minerva, Carol (@/zipitmythicalsunset 's Siren) , and Pam (@/lazulli-blue 's siren bean) so it would be safer for the babies (and adult) to go to school or for family trips to civilization. The name of the device is Gensai (Illusory) Diamond.
#mermay 2023#personal blorbos#personal bean#salad family#scars and scales#Moose lady on human form is very rare XD#But she can't go check on her company looking like a living tree#Min is killing me#IT'S ADORABLE#Such a sweetheart for her mom#Yami totally didn't passed like 20 nights without sleep for creating the GDs#don't worry#(lying)#My art

You were having one of those days that made you want to run away from everything. Instead, you walked on the golf course behind your house after hours; no phone, no umbrella, no bag this time, just you. You had what you could fit from your hands in your jean pockets as you walked the grassy field. Something twinkled and caught your eye on the far side of the fairway, there was a sparkle in the ferns. You walked over and began looking through the underbrush. Your hand grazed a smooth stick with a mangled end that encased a gem. You picked it up hoping for a better look but were transported to another world instead!
You appeared in the new world holding the staff. You were standing beside an older fellow with a pointy hat and long grey beard. You looked around and saw many other gruff, burly-looking men sitting in an encampment. They looked as confused as you. You did the only thing you could think of doing at that moment.
You turned around and took off running as fast as you could.
The wizard whose staff you were running away with asked the younger dwarves in his company to fetch you for him. They ran after you as quick as the wind. You dodged trees and hurdled bushes, making an all-around great effort. You were slowing down though. You stopped for a moment to catch your breath and plan. A twig snapped in the distance; quick footsteps closed in on you. You took off again. You needed a place to hide, a moment to think for God's sake. You were afforded no such luxuries. They were gaining, you were tiring. In your drained haste, you tripped on a bush which sent you stumbling and struggling to regain your footing given your momentum. You finally fell and scampered to take cover behind the roots of a great tree. Their footfalls grew slower and drew nearer. They were so close you could hear their words now.
…She’s hiding, Fili,” one said much closer than you expected them to be.
You tried your best to steady your breathing. Your heartbeat was so loud you knew they could hear it.
“Stop scaring her Kili,” The other chastised. “You know she’s got to be scared half to death”. He walked past you, studying the ground. The other came up the other side of the tree doing the same.
You gripped the staff preparing yourself to be found. They turned in unison following the same tracks and looked up at you simultaneously. They were both panting but not as hard as you. Fili, the elder and more experienced of the two knelt where he stood a few yards from your curled trembling form.
“My name is Fili” He put his hand on his chest and motioned to the man next to him, “This is my brother Kili. We mean no harm to you.” He kept his distance and showed his empty hands. You stayed firmly pressed against the tree trunk, your chest heaving rapidly and your eyes as large as saucers. They could have tackled you, beaten you, or done any number of terrible violating things, but they kept their distance and spoke softly.
“What’s your name?” Kili asked, with a charming smile as he crouched beside his brother.
“Y/N,” you said in a shaky freaked-out tone.
“Y/N, that’s our friend wizard’s staff,” Fili said, “If anyone can figure out how you got here, he can.”
“But you gotta come back to camp with us,” Kili said reaching out his hand as a peace offering. So many horrible things could happen to you in the wild of this new world, but even more on top of that could if you didn’t go with them.
“How can I trust you?” You asked them. They looked at each other.
“How can we trust you?” Kili threw back at you with a suspicious look and recoiled his hand.
“Touche” you nodded returning his look.
“Seems we are at an impasse then,” Fili huffed at his brother, “You want to get home, and our wizard can do that. The only way that can happen is if you come with us back to our camp. We can only offer you our word and promise on our honor as dwarven princes that you will not be harmed by any in our company.”
You thought for a moment and nibbled at your lip, “You promise?” you looked up at Kili this time.
Kili looked you deep in the eyes, and very seriously said: “No harm will ever come to you, on my honor as a prince.”
You nodded at this, “Very well”, and tried to stand up but were stuck against the tree. The 2 men easily lifted you back to your feet. You followed them back to the camp.
You tried your best to hide behind Kili as you approached the wizard smoking a pipe. You peeked from around his shoulder at the other men in the camp. They were looking at you.
“Please sit, my dear,” The wizard said to you, motioning to the rest of the long log beside him “We have much to discuss.”
Your legs wouldn’t move you from behind the dwarf. You were still quite afraid.
“She seems to have taken a liking to you Kili,” the wizard said to him. The rest of the company let out a soft chuckle of agreement. You couldn’t see it from your angle, but Kili smiled and nodded.
“Sit down child, we aren’t going to hurt you,” One of the dwarves sitting across the fire said. You took a deep breath to gather your courage. One false move by any of the others would have you bolting again.
You moved from behind Kili and sat beside the wizard still clutching the staff.
“May I take that from you?” the wizard politely asked. You handed it to him. He explained how this type of thing had happened to a couple of his wizard friends before, but he didn’t know the remedy or spell to undo it or how to prevent it from happening again. You sat quietly listening and nodding. He explained to you and the rest of the company that he was leaving to travel to his friend and inquire about your predicament. In the meantime, he convinced the company and its leader, Thorin you came to know, to keep you in the company as an innocent bystander to help around the camp and whatnot till Gandalf (the wizard) could figure out what to do with you. Gandalf gave you a small sack of coins, instructing you to get a bag, a bedroll, clothes, and any other necessities you’ll need at the next town.
As the fire died down so did the company. They got out their bedrolls and sleeping gear like a synchronized unit and as quickly as they started, they were all asleep snoring softly. Kili had first watch and was sitting on the ground next to you leaning against the log you were on. You slid onto the ground next to him curled with your knees to your chest. He looked over at you. You looked over at him.
“I don’t know what to do now,” you said not hiding the waver in your voice very well, “I’m so scared.” You couldn’t hold back the tears anymore. You cried into your hands as quietly as possible, so you didn’t disturb and anger the others. If you had looked at Kili, you would have seen him in a slight panic and at a loss for what to do, he didn’t know how to console crying women. You sobbed into your hands knowing you just needed to let it all out then you’d be fine. Kili looked at the fire and put his hand on your back. Physical contact of any kind back home was next to nonexistent, it felt nice to know he was trying his best to comfort you. After a few minutes of uncontrollable sobbing and hiccups wracking through you, you began calming down. When you were able to breathe properly, you wiped your face even though tears kept falling. You sniffled and rested your chin on your knees letting the tears fall silently now.
“Do you feel better?” Kili guessed in a soft tone and rubbed his hand on your back.
You nodded at him, “Yes” You took a deep breath and wiped the tears from your eyes as best you could, “Thank you” You looked at him and smiled a little. He smiled and nodded too, still concerned but returned his hand to his lap. You sniffled and looked at the fire.
“Really though I don’t know what I’m doing,” you said. “I’ve never been camping before,” you paused to think. “I don’t know how to fight or use a sword or make a fire or hunt or-or—” You were working yourself up and starting to cry again. Kili cut you off before you could start sobbing hysterically again.
“WOAH! Woah!!” alarmed, he put his hand on your back again, “It’s ok. Calm down.” he said harshly, “Take a deep breath, that seemed to help last time,” He mumbled the last part under his breath. That made you smile despite yourself.
“You don’t know how to console someone, do you?” You took a deep breath and wiped your eyes. He shook his head and took his hand from you. “Seems we’re both out of our depth then,” you said making the mood a bit lighter.
“In my defense, I was raised in a pack of manly men,” He smiled fondly “It’s a wonder my mother got through to me at all.”
“So, you do have a mother,” you said, making him look at you quizzically “I assumed you were raised by wolves,” You shrugged. He laughed and you couldn’t help but smile.
“You’re not completely wrong about that,” He smiled, looking over at the men across the fire. There was a momentary silence. “We’ll teach you those things, how to fight, how to make a fire, all that,” He looked over at you, “I mean who knows how long Gandalf will be, and you’d have to be pretty stupid not to pick up a thing or two even from this bunch.” You smiled and nodded; this calmed your nerves a little. A moment of silence fell between you again.
“Is it ok if I stay up with you?” you innocently asked, “I’m not very tired.”
“Sure,” he said casually, “May I ask about your life back in your world?”
“OK,” You nodded.
“What do you do?” he asked, you gave him a weird look. “Like for a living, how do you make money, how do you spend your days?”
“I’m a student at university at the moment.” He looked at you confused this time. “I spend my days studying at a desk, it’s boring and dull” You quickly summed up.
“Ooohh,” He said, “No wonder you couldn’t run for shit,” He laughed.
You scoffed, “So rude,” You huffed, failing to hide your smile. He was glad you were cheering up a bit.
“If it’s so boring and dull, why don’t you do something else?” He asked, naive to your world and its ways.
“It’s…complicated” you sighed “I have to study to do what I want to do for work even though I don’t want to work or study or do any of that, but I have to make money somehow because I need money to do stuff and buy things because the world I live in is shitty that way and it’s so frustrating sometimes,” you gritted your teeth to make your point.
“Well, what do you want to do then?” he asked, trying to understand your strange world.
“Sit on the beach,” You said without hesitation “…Listen to the waves…sleep on a blanket in the sun,” you sighed wistfully. “Die happy and rich.”
“That does sound nice” He agreed “I’ve never seen a tropical ocean before, the seas near the Blue Mountains are all frozen over.”
“Surely there’s a beach somewhere in this world,” You refused to believe the universe sent you to a world without a beach.
“There is! I’ve heard stories of Southern Gondor, where the sun makes the sand hotter than forges, and the water falls over the horizon in every direction.”
“That sounds like the beaches from back home,” You felt a little bad for him. You’d been practically raised at the beach because it was the only free thing to do in your hometown.
“May I ask a question?” you asked this time.
“Of course,” He shifted to lean against the log and face you.
“What are you guys doing?” you gestured to the camp around you.
“We are on a quest!” He said proudly, “A quest to take back our ancestral home from the dread dragon Smaug,” he said in a sinister voice. He explained about Erebor and the dragon and Thorin to catch you up. You listened, nodded, and took it all in, asking questions and giggling at his jokes. He was a decent storyteller.
“And I’m just along for the ride I guess,” you said deflated about your role in all this.
“If it’s any consolation, you’re quite good company,” He indulged; Kili always got so lonely on watch.
“Yay!” you said over a yawn, “I’d hate to bore any of you,” you replied, genuinely fearing your stories may never measure up to theirs. You leaned over and laid on the soft grass, curled in a ball with your arm as a pillow. You tried not to shiver from the cool evening breeze. You heard some shuffling of fabric, and then a blanket fluttered on top of you. You looked at Kili who smiled and said: “I’m quite the furnace at night, I’ll be fine without it,” he reassured.
“Thank you,” you said over another yawn. You didn’t expect to fall asleep but the next thing you knew it was early morning and you were awoken by the clanging of pots and spoons. You sat up and looked around to get your bearings.
‘Still in the same strange world’ you thought not fully awake. Kili appeared, greeted you good morning, and handed you a bowl of white goo he called porridge. You thanked him and ate your breakfast in silence like the rest of the company. While the men packed up the camp you were tasked with washing the dishes in a nearby stream. You were struck by the beauty of the incredible woods around you even in the dim morning light. You returned to camp and put the dishes in their bag, which was taken by one of your new companions. You felt out of place without a task among everyone who knew what to do. Balin saw you standing in the middle of the camp looking lost. He asked Thorin what they were to do about their lack of an extra pony for you. They decided you could ride with Kili seeing as he was the lightest (next to Bilbo) and his pony could take the weight and because you seemed the most comfortable with him. The old dwarf with a white-grey beard curled up at the ends approached you with as much of a nonthreatening air as he could muster.
“Good morning, my dear!” He greeted you with a chipper smile. “My name is Balin”
“Good morning,” you replied. “I don't quite know what I’m to be doing,” you said sheepishly.
“That’s ok lass, it’ll come with time,” he reassured, “For now, you’ll ride with Kili so you can see if he needs help getting ready.”
“Ok,” You nodded and started walking in Kili’s direction. You stopped in front of his pony and petted its nose and down its neck. “I’ve been told that I’m to ride with you,” you said timidly looking at him adjust his saddle. Kili looked at you and nodded.
“I’ll be happy to have a lovely conversation again” He smiled and looked back at his saddle, making the final arrangements.
He turned to you and said, “I’ll give you a leg up,” And jabbed a thumb at his pony. You nodded and approached the animal. You put your hands on the ponies back and bent your leg waiting for him to help. He leaned forward so he could whisper in your ear: “Wrong leg”. You blushed quite profusely at that and switched legs. He heaved you with such strength he nearly threw you over the other side of the pony. You made yourself comfortable behind the saddle before he hooked his foot in the stirrup and carefully mounted so he didn’t knock you off.
“You ok?” he asked over his shoulder.
“Yep!” you smiled. He nodded. You were excited to see new lands even though you feared what they harbored.
“If you need to hold on to me when we get going you can,” he said, making you both blush despite yourselves.
A few moments later Thorin called out: “Company ready?” in a deep booming voice, “Aye!” They all replied in unison. “Company, move out!” He bellowed and urged his pony forward. The rest followed behind him one by one. When your animal lurched forward you grabbed Kili's waist for dear life. The company was silent till they got to the end of the forest. You had your cheek pressed against Kili’s shoulder and your chest against his back. The fur of his coat was very soft against your face as you turned your head to look over his other shoulder. You yawned but didn’t realize you did it right next to his ear and breathed down his neck. He determinedly kept his eyes on the pony ahead of him to keep the blush rising in his chest at bay.
“You can take a nap if you need to,” he said over his shoulder in a soft voice for only you to hear.
“That sounds like a good idea,” You yawned again. You buried your face in the soft spare fabric of the hood on his back and cuddled closer to him to rest your head on his shoulder. You closed your eyes and sleep swiftly took you. He knew this because he could feel your breathing slow on the back of his neck. He was happy you could sleep and couldn’t help his smile. You shifted now and then, turning your head one way then a while later turning it the other. Kili tried not to talk or move too much in fear of waking your delicate slumber. By midday, you felt very well rested. You took a deep breath and released your grasp on Kili to stretch your arms above your head, arching your back to wake yourself up. You quickly slipped your arms around him again, so you didn’t fall.
“Good morning!” He chirped, “Well afternoon really,” he corrected with a smile, “Sleep well?”
“Mhm,” You hummed against his shoulder “I haven’t slept that well in a long time,” you said thinking back on the restless weeks before your arrival in Middle Earth.
“Good,” He nodded. “Happy I could be of service.”
“Yes, you make quite the comfortable bed,” you replied.
An easy silence settled between you for a while. You contentedly watched the landscape pass by while he kept the pony on the path.
“What’s a good weapon for a beginner?” You asked knowing you needed to start wrapping your head around the fact that you could be stuck here forever and needed to protect yourself. He thought about that for a few moments.
“I’d have to say a bow,” He shrugged, “I don’t know honestly, lemme ask Fili,” he kicked up his pony to walk faster to be next to his brother. “What is the best weapon for a beginner?” He asked him. Fili glanced at you and thought for a moment.
“Hmm I think a sword would be easiest,” He replied, contradicting his brother.
“A sword?!” Kili said incredulously “No that’s one of the harder ones,” He swatted his hand as if to swipe the words from the air.
Fili scoffed “For you maybe,” he said barely keeping his teasing smile under control “But not to the rest of us, my weapon-challenged brother.” That made you giggle. Kili huffed and pulled his horse back, so he wasn’t beside his brother anymore.
“Are you that bad with a sword?” you asked, trying not to laugh too much.
“No!” he exclaimed, “I’m just better with a bow and arrows,” he pouted.
‘Awe he’s so cute when he pouts’ Your thought took you by surprise.
“Perhaps you can teach me, Archer,” Your voice was lower than you intended, making you both blush. Your breath ghosted over his ear making him shiver just a little. He turned his head to look at you over his shoulder, his face so close to yours. He looked at your lips then deep into your eyes holding eye contact.
“Maybe I will,” he said in a deep gruff whisper that made you gasp and goosebumps rush over your skin. He turned back and smiled; proud he could get a rise out of you. You huffed and distanced yourself from him by leaning back, needing the space to calm down.
As night drew closer, Thorin led the company to the edge of a forest and found a shallow cave, more like a cliff overhang to make camp for the night. He told Fili and Kili to take care of the ponies and Oin and Gloin to make the fire. After the meals had been handed out Thorin told you to take Fili and Kili a bowl. You walked through the forest and found them looking at a downed tree in panicked awe.
“Something took 4 of the ponies,” Fili said to you, hoping you’d have the answer to their predicament.
“Yes, and…” you nodded at them trying not to panic yourself “What are you going to do about it since it’s your problem?”
The brothers decided to see what took the ponies and if they could handle it themselves, no need to worry Thorin, right? You followed them as they tracked the pony-nappers. Kili hid behind a tree and peeked around, you hid behind him and peeked over his shoulder. 3 large trolls were something to worry about, and a sight that made that dreadful feeling drop from your chest into your stomach. Your grip on Kili’s coat tightened.
He turned to you and said in barely a whisper, “Go back to camp and tell Thorin”.
Fili was immediately against it, huffing and puffing from behind his tree. Kili shrugged and motioned with hands as if to say, ‘What else would you have us do?!’ Fili huffed again and snuck around the tree. He tried to cut the rope fence with his sword, but he took too long. The trolls caught him. They were deciding ways to eat him when Kili looked at you in alarm and told you to go back to camp. You ran as fast as you could.
“Ponies! Big grey troll things took the ponies!” You said out of breath pointing the way you just came “Fili…in…danger”. Thorin cursed in dwarfish and rallied the company. Balin told you to keep your distance, so you didn’t get caught in the fight.
The dwarves fought bravely but were captured. Bilbo bid for more time while you thought of a plan. You heard the trolls complain about daylight coming and that gave you an idea. You saw the trolls had made camp in the shade cast by a large boulder. You wedged a branch under the rock and used the leverage to try to roll it. It was very heavy, and you were not. It took everything in your power to push the branch to roll the boulder down the ditch edge it rested on. The trolls were washed in sunlight, turning them to stone and freeing the company. They cheered when you stepped over the branch and into the clearing. You helped them from their confines and smiled and blushed when they praised your good job.
Back at camp the company gathered their things and discussed what to do now. Fili suddenly hushed the company.
“Warg howls in the distance,” He whispered to Thorin “They are coming!”
“RUN!” Thorin yelled at the company. Following Thorin everyone started running. You all ran as fast as you could onto a hilly plane sprinkled with trees and boulders. You ran and ran till the Wargs finally caught up. They began to encircle you. The company fought the beasts, taking them down as still more came at them. You went to hide behind the rock formation but fell into it instead. You climbed out as the Wargs were closing in.
“Down here!” you called “There’s a passage this way!” you slid down to make room for the others. Thorin was the last one, as he slid down a horn was blown near the entrance to the passage.
“I can’t see where it leads, do we follow?” One of the dwarves asked.
“Yes! We follow!” Thorin barged through the dwarves and led the company through the narrow pass. You all walked for a few minutes, but then Thorin rounded a corner and slowed as he realized where he’d unwittingly led the company. The rest kept walking around him, but Bilbo stopped and said in admiration: “Rivendell”. You stopped as well to take in the view before you. It was the most beautiful thing you had ever seen. A small town on the side of a mountain with water flowing from beneath some of the glittering structures.
As Thorin led the company over a bridge, you grabbed Kili’s arm to steady yourself as you looked around and took in the ornate statues and architecture of the front steps of a large building. A man much taller than you or the dwarves approached the group.
“We would like to speak to Lord Elrond,” Thorin said through gritted teeth. He was swallowing his pride for the betterment of the quest, that much was clear through his clenched fists and tense shoulders.
“Lord Elrond isn’t here,” The elf said regretfully.
“Then where is he?” Thorin’s patience was growing thin. A horn was sounded on the other side of the bridge you’d just crossed. Everyone turned to see a group of horses galloping towards them. The dwarves began shouting in dwarfish and closing ranks with their weapons ready for battle. You were pushed into the very center of the circle as tall horses and riders circled you. They stopped suddenly and the one on a black horse dismounted.
“My Lord Elrond,” The elf who first approached you said with a bow.
“Lindir” Elrond bowed his head at him then turned to the leader of your group, “Welcome Thorin son of Thrain,” He looked over the dwarf “You have your grandfather's bearings.”
“I’m afraid I know you only from the stories my grandfather told me,” Thorin was doing his best to be polite. (You were later informed that the stories were mostly about him being a ninny.)
“I’d like to offer you and your company a taste of our elfish hospitality,” Elrond said with a warm smile.
“Does that mean we’ll eat?!” Bombur called from the back. The company chuckled at him.
“Yes Bombur, that means we’ll eat” Dori replied. The company cheered at the prospect of a full belly and a warm hearth.
Not long after, you were sat next to Bilbo and Kili at a large table. The salad appetizers were very good despite the dwarves not liking green food very much. You giggled at their jokes about how bad the music was or how they wanted chips and meat. Thorin was sat at another table across from Elrond discussing something you couldn’t hear, but you could tell it pained Thorin to be in the other man's presence.
You turned to Kili beside you. “Thorin looks constipated,” you said in a low voice barely containing your laughter “He can’t even pretend to be enjoying this”. Kili looked over at his uncle and laughed with you.
When the meals were served there was boisterous laughter and general dwarfish shenanigans, the usual at any merry dwarfish gathering. Bilbo looked like he was having PTSD from when they were doing the same at his house at the beginning of the quest. At the end of the meal, Thorin and Balin disappeared with Elrond to discuss a map. You asked Kili if he would escort you to the markets with as much innocent girlish need as you could muster to solidify your security. He agreed and walked with you through the corridors and to the market. He helped you get a fair price on a bag, a blanket, and a bedroll. The next thing you needed was clothes to blend in.
“What do the women around here wear exactly?” You asked him. He shrugged.
“It depends, I guess” He had his hands shoved in his pockets as he followed you around the clothing stalls like a puppy.
“Gee, that’s a big help.” You teased.
After some more wandering you found a stall selling clothes that looked your size. You purchased a dark blue form-fitting tunic that stopped above your knees and had slits on the sides that went up to your hips. It paired very nicely with the brown pants and brown coat with dark blue highlights you bought as well. Kili helped barter with the merchants since you didn’t know the fair price of things here. In another section of the market, you bought spools of black, blue, and pink thread. You put your belongings in your new bag.
“Are we done?” Kili asked, sounding slightly annoyed. He was ready to go back to the others and be away from so many elves. You sighed and rolled your eyes playfully and nodded. He led you through the busy crowded markets by holding your hand. You were thankful he was in front of you so he couldn’t see your blush. You made it back to the group, who had set up camp in a courtyard garden at the end of a hallway. Just as you arrived two female and two male elves came down the hallway.
One of the males stepped forward, “The bathhouse is ready for you now” he said to the group.
“Bath?! We don’t need no stinkin’ bath!” Exclaimed a dwarf from behind the fire. The rest heartily agreed, not ready to drop their pants on elvish soil it seemed.
“I’d like a bath” you timidly said, not wanting to make a fuss but very much wanting to be clean.
“Very good mistress dwarf, if you’ll follow us,” one of the female elves said. You were tense as you followed the four elves down the corridor, not sure what you were doing.
“You best go with her lad,” Dori said to Kili, “You never know what an elf might try to pull.” He glared at the back of the elves as they walked away. Kili nodded and ran after you.
“Y/N!” He called making you and the elves stop.
“Oh, change your mind, Kili?” You asked with an innocent smile, happy to have his company.
“Yeah, I guess so.” He smiled too.
You were led to a large door that opened into a covered hot spring that flowed over the balcony to create an assumably gorgeous waterfall. Columns lined the outer edge of the room which was split down the middle by a cloth partition. The male elves walked to one side of the divider with Kili in tow, while the females walked to the other. The elves asked that you wash under the heated shower of water off to the side before entering the hot springs. They left you to your own devices.
“I’ve never seen anything like this have you?” You asked Kili across the large room.
“No” He smiled at the wonder in your voice from seeing new things and making discoveries. He thought it was very cute.
You placed your bag and new clothes on the vanity in the corner. You undressed and stepped under the warm shower. You used the bar of soap you found to wash your hair and body. It was the best-smelling soap you’d ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
“Hey, Kee?” You hollered.
“Yeah?” He yelled back.
“Do you plan on keeping your soap?”
“No…Why?”
“I’ll take it then. I’ll need extra anyway,” And you were so happy you did. That soap made your hair silky smooth and stronger than ever. You rinsed the suds away then stepped into the hot springs.
It felt luxurious. You couldn’t help but moan a little as the heat pulled every knot and tense muscle from you. Relaxed, you floated in the steamy water.
“You still there Kili?” you asked suddenly nervous he’d left you.
“Yeah, I’m here” He replied, “We shouldn’t take too much longer though, Thorin could be back any minute and who knows what kind of a mood he’ll be in.”
That made you enjoy the bath a little faster. Not long after you began drying off and getting dressed. You took the hairbrush and beads and other miscellaneous hair trinkets that were on the vanity. You looked in the mirror at your new outfit. It fit as you thought, though a little snugger in some places than others, hugging your curves to allow for movement yet still baggy for breathability and insulation. Overall, a nice ensemble.
“Ready Y/N?” Kili asked from across the partition.
“Yeah, you can come over, I’m just packing my things.” You replied, folding your old clothes, and putting them in your bag with the rest of your things.
“Here’s the soap” He handed it to you.
“Thanks!” You smiled at him; you simply wrote his flushed cheeks off to the hot water. When you stood, he was able to get a much better look at you in your new clothes.
“A perfect fit I see” He smiled, looking you up and down. He couldn’t help but imagine what you’d look like wearing nothing but his tunic. A line of thought he blushed at and quickly willed away.
“Does it look alright? I don’t know how it’s supposed to fit” You fussed with the hems and the folds trying to make them lay better. He grabbed your hand to make you stop fidgeting.
“You look great,” he said with a genuine smile. You smiled and nodded your appreciation.
You walked back to camp, making moneyless bets on what mood Thorin would be in when he returned.
As you approached Fili saw you in your new outfit and said, “Well look at this…” Making the rest of the company look at you too, “Our wee lass looks like a bona fide middle earther now!” They cheered at your near-complete indoctrination.
“Now she just needs to learn how to fight like one.” Bofur quipped from beside the fire.
“Then I wouldn’t need any of you to protect me!” You put the back of your hand to your forehead feigning a damsel in distress, making the company laugh. You sat on the ground beside the long chair Kili was now examining his weapons in and leaned against it. You held out a stone fish figurine to him.
“As a thank you for helping me” you cleared your throat “…And for being my friend.” You couldn’t meet his eyes, but you knew he was smiling a little around his reed pipe. He took it from your open hands. You know it wasn’t much but it’s all you could offer.
“Maybe one day you can return it to the ocean,” you said, referring to your previous conversation.
“Maybe I will,” he smiled down at you with genuine fondness.
“Bombur!” Bofur called before throwing a sausage to his cousin. The table, which took skilled elfin craftsman months, even years to craft and carve out of solid wood, collapsed under the massive weight of Bombur. Everyone erupted in laughter, it was nice to be part of the group and share in the merriment.
~~
Thorin stopped Balin on their way back to the camp, “We should leave her here,” He said, “She is a liability.”
Balin had a terrible sinking feeling in his round tummy when he thought of splitting you up.
“So what if she is, Thorin?” Balin said near pleading. “Have you ever seen your nephew that happy or open with a girl that quick before? I’ve never seen the lad so engaged in a conversation that didn’t have to do with weapons before last night. So what if she dies on our quest, at least we gave them a chance to happen, and if fate finds their pairing favorable it will all work out!” Balin was desperate to keep you and the young prince together if only to keep the sinking feeling at bay.
Thorin huffed, “Very well, but her blood is not on my hands,” He walked away and into the camp.
~~
Thorin and Balin returned, and the tone became slightly more serious—slightly. The company settled and laid their bedrolls in the grassy parts of the garden. You laid yours out as well and prepped for sleep by removing your shoes and coat. The night was warm enough that your blanket would suffice. You looked up at the stars wondering if any of the constellations were the same as back home. You cuddled your coat to your chest relishing the feel of the soft fabric. The low conversation between Fili and Kili, while they sat on watch across the fire, lulled you to sleep.

Hello, May I please request Bada x idol fem reader? Where they've been together and moved in together for years in secret with only their closest friends and family knowing but they end up accidentally revealing their relationship when one of them does a vlive or an suggestive instagram post?
Caught (Bada Lee x Idol! Reader)
Synopsis: You accidentally revealed your long term relationship with Bada because of a vlive.
TW: mentions of homophobia, some foul language here and there. Minors, please dni.
A/N: this is such a cute prompt i love ittttt hoe era is temporarily cancelled 🫶
You've been in a relationship with Bada even before you debuted as an idol. As much as you wanted to show her off and climb her up like a tree in front of everyone, you can't. Because you're not supposed to be dating anyone and that people are so homophobic and they're not ready for your gayness reserved for your beautiful girlfriend.
"Babe can you please stay in the living room for maybe an hour? I need to do a vlive." you pouted as you looked at your girlfriend who was reading a book in your shared bed. She playfully rolled her eyes at your request but got up nonetheless. She gave you a quick kiss before pinching your cheeks.
"Babe we've been together for what, five years now? And you're still not ashamed of me? I'm hurt!" Bada says dramatically which made you pout even more. She chuckles and kisses you. You've been together for almost 5 years and she understands why you can't go public with your relationship since you're an idol and you'd be in trouble with your company if they found out you're dating each other.
"Stop ittttt. You're so mean." you complained and she just laughed, fixing your hair before going to the living room so you can do your vlive in peace.
You did your usual vlive routine, doing a mini mukbang with the snacks stash you have in your shared room with Bada and answering some questions from your fans. You move around a lot during your live and you forgot that there's a picture of you and Bada kissing, framed on the nightstand that you forgot to hide. You only realized that huge blunder when the fans began commenting about the picture.
Panicked, you quickly ended the vlive and ran to Bada, tears welling in your eyes as you hugged her tight. Bada was confused. It's not even 30 minutes but you're already done with your vlive and you look like you're about to cry.
"Baby what's wrong? Was someone being mean to you?" Bada asked, concerned and you just shook your head. She just held you, stroking your hair until you finally calmed down enough to tell her what's really going on. When you told her, Bada could feel her heart pounding against her chest. Yeah, she wants everyone to know that you're hers but not like this. She's more than okay with your current set up that only your families knew along with some close friends about your relationship but now almost everyone knows about it.
"Shit.. I'm sorry.. I should've checked first." you sobbed and Bada pressed kisses all over your face, assuring you that it's okay and you don't have to say sorry about it.
"Hey, hey it's okay. You don't have to say sorry, pretty baby.." She whispers and holds you in her arms. You wipe your tears away and open your phone. Sure enough, everyone's talking about the framed picture, there are screenshots as well taken from your vlive earlier.
You look up at your girlfriend and give her hand a gentle squeeze. Everyone knows about your relationship with her at this point. Why not come clean about everything, right? Your fans deserve to know and you didn't want to hide your love for Bada anymore.
"Baby, let's come clean? I think the fans deserve an explanation and I don't want to hide us anymore." you told her and Bada looked at you, wanting to make sure that you really wanted this, not just because you're pressured into doing so.
"Are you sure? Babe, you don't have to do this." Bada says and you nod your head, giving her a smile. She sighed and finally agreed. You took pictures together and you posted them, along with some pictures of you and Bada throughout the years you've been together and finally admitting your relationship.
With the official announcement from you, some fans were disappointed and some people were outraged. Some hurled homophobic slurs towards you and Bada, you were forced to go on hiatus until everything calms down. You should've felt sad about everything but you oddly felt happy because you didn't have to hide your love anymore. Your family and friends support you and Bada loves you, that's all that matters to you at this point. You could have the whole world turn their back on you but as long as Bada is there, then that's okay.

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a good December! These were my contributions to the @welcomehomefanzine winter zine! I managed to do more art this time too! For my contributions I wanted to draw art on various Winter traditions from different cultures, such as also my own! If you decide to colour in any of these, please @ me!!
Also keep in mind, we are not affiliated with Clown or the team behind WH, we are just fans who love the work!!
I wrote more on all the artworks under the cut! Including the traditions they were based on!
First one was a little visual pun on the first verse of '12 Days of Christmas', Poppy is the partridge in the pear tree! Not much to say about this one, it's my only Christmas related thing! Second one was based on the Southern Welsh winter tradition of the Mari Lwyd. The Mari Lwyd is a hobby horse made from a horse's skull and is then decorated. It is puppeteered to go to the doors of various houses where its handlers will sing verses on letting it in to the home, you are supposed to sing back excuses on why you can't let it in, and if you relent, you invite the Mari Lwyd and its handlers in your home, where it will eat your food and alcohol and terrorise your children! The tradition and its true origins and meaning and even etymology is unknown, but it's thought to have ancient Pagan roots! It seems here, Eddie relented in his songs to it and regretted everything immediately after!
Third image is another Poppy centric piece because I love her. Here she is dressed up as a figure from Schnabelperchten! This is a tradition seen only in Rauris Valley in Austria and is a manifestation of Perchta, a goddess from Alpine Paganism that took the form of a old woman who'd punish misbehaving children by slitting their bellies. For Schnabelperchten, on the 5th of January, figures dressed in smocks, jackets, and a beak-like mask will visit various homes to check their upkeep and cleanliness all while emitting a soft 'ga ga ga', in more ancient versions of the legend, if you did not keep your living quarters in good enough conditions, the Schnabelperchten would slit open your belly and dump all the rubbish inside! Poppy would never do that though! No one tell her about that part!! Last but not least is one based on a tradition from my culture! Here you see the entire neighbourhood celebrating Yalda Night and spending time with one anotherThis is a Persian/Iranian festival with Zoroastrian roots held on the Winter Solstice. This day was traditionally seen as ill omened as being the darkest day of the year, the forces of Ahriman and his Deevs were most active, and so much of the day entailed family and friends getting together in good company. They would read stories and poems (especially the Shahnameh or poems by Hafez) with nuts and various fruits from previous harvests being served, watermelon and pomegranates being the most prominent! It was also encouraged to stay well up after midnight lest misfortune befall you! Due to it also being the longest night, it was also seen as the birthdate of the sun deity Mehr (or Mithra), as the subsequent days would get longer.
This was all fun to do and I hope I did all these traditons justice!! I am most likely missing out a lot on my explanations for them, so I hope I at least peaked your interest in these different Winter festivities enough to look into them on your own!

All You Need to Do Is Ask
Hi! I'm back, kind of!
I was planning to not post to keep the bots away-- but @hcdragoncat is an awesome writer, and @journey-to-the-au is awesome in general! I got inspired by this drabble based on the What If AU.
It might also be because the SEM posts are destroying me and I need some fluff, comfort, and humor (or at least, I tried). I see your ':)' and I know I'm in for a bad time. Pray for me before I strangle a myth from a 16th century book. ❤️
Regardless, thanks for being amazing writers! You're awesome!
---
"Absolutely not."
"Baije, please-- ow-- don't worry yourself. I'll be fine."
Haarini pleaded to no avail. Pushing her back down with stubborn hooves, the pig demon reached for a small bundle. All the while, Pilgrim silently picked at his meal from afar.
"Ah, but you seem to forget." Garnet eyes examined a swollen ankle, reaching for a roll of gauze. "I was once a farmhand. Injuries like these are terrible if left untreated."
"You can't just assume--" Pigsy's sharp glare met hers, cutting her thorny words at the stem.
"Tell me. How many years did you spend outside your temple, honing your survival skills?" He moved to wipe a stinging cut on her cheek. "Because I can assure you that, when you are a wanderer, pain endurance isn't a requirement."
From beside the campfire, Sha Wujing's eyes traveled from Haarini's bloodthirsty scowl to Pilgrim's endless shivering. With gentle footsteps, the demon sat down beside him, nudging him with a large shoulder.
"You're eating very slowly. Is everything alright, my friend?"
No response. The eldest disciple sniffled, rubbing a flushed nose.
"Wukong?" The monk asked again.
Ao Lie raised his head.
"Pilgrim?"
Zhu Baije and Haarini stopped their bickering. Their eldest disciple finally looked up, startling when he was met with a sea of curious eyes.
"Do I have something on my face?" The stone monkey chuckled nervously.
"Well, no." Wujing hummed to himself, "You just seem-- oh, what's the word--"
"Distracted." Tripitaka furrowed his brow from his spot under a tree. "Absent-minded. Weak."
Weak. Weak?
In an instant, Wukong's fur puffed at the accusation.
"Master, you forget that our eldest disciple can’t possibly weaken. He's immortal several times over! He's probably just cold from his little dip in the river." Zhu Baije snorted.
"He's right, Master! I'm p-perfectly..." A raspy breath hitched.
Haarini frowned, pushing herself to her feet. "Wukong, what’s going–"
A loud sneeze rumbled through the night air, fire flickering at the force of it. Dazed and confused, the pilgrims surfaced from the shock, ears still ringing. The deity's face reddened through his fur, hovering a paw over his nose.
"Excuse me. I– snff! I need to go…patrol the area." He mumbled. And with that, the great sage was gone.
"...Should we go after him?" Wujing finally piped up.
Haarini took her time limping through the mountain path. She was insistent on checking first-- despite the group’s overflowing concerns.
"Please do not search for too long." Tripitaka guided her towards the brush that circled their little safe haven, "You might exacerbate your sprain."
"And watch for roots." Zhu Baije examined her wrappings…again. "Tripping over anything in your condition would make things much worse."
"And please be aware of your surroundings." Wujing added, hands wringing. "If a demon attacks, we wouldn't want you to fight alone. So remember to ask for help when you need it, okay?"
Haarini's eye twitched. "Anyone else want to give me advice that I already know?"
Like clockwork, the youngest disciple whinnied. The warrior threw her head back, glaring up at the moon. "Thank you Ao Lie. Very helpful."
The forest itself was much better company, lively with conversation. Owls hooted. Crickets chirped. Haaniri stepped from the dapples of moonlight into a wide meadow, its rolling garden seeming to stretch on for miles. Fireflies gracefully floated above the flowers, flickering in the dark like embers on the wind.
A coughing fit broke the peace, and Haarini couldn't help the giggle that passed her lips. The Monkey King was never one for stealth, was he? She carved her way through the tall grass and up to a familiar patch of golden fur.
And there sat her patient, sniffling and rubbing at his face.
Haarini frowned. Was. Was he crying? Is that why he was so quiet? Is that why he refused to come near us? Is he too prideful to face his friends?
The langur paused. She steeled herself, a nimble paw reaching out to his shoulder.
And then all chaos broke loose.
The Monkey King sneezed. She screamed. He yelped. They scrambled backwards, perched on all fours and fur puffed like feral cats. For just a moment they were frozen in time, backs arched, staring wide eyed between a storm of windswept petals.
"...We’re going back." Haarini said flatly, loosening up to pick freckles of pollen from her fur.
"I’m fine."
"Wukong."
"I am! Don’t you trust your Grandpa Sun?"
The langur sighed, moving to sit beside him. "Do you know how stubborn you are?"
Wordlessly, ruby eyes traveled to her ankle. Haarini scoffed, tail blocking its view with a silver swish. "Th-that’s not the same!" She huffed, arms crossed.
"I see." Wukong wheezed out a chuckle-- which spiraled into a coughing jag. Blood boiled under his dear friend’s fur. Golden eyes narrowed.
Fine. If the idiot wasn't going to help himself, she'd just have to do it for him.
All too suddenly Haarini hissed in pain, reaching to clutch her ankle. And as she predicted, the deity immediately leaned forward, ignoring his own state. He suppressed a shiver. She fought the urge to strangle the immortality out of him.
"Will you stop that? I said I'm fine!" Haarini grasped at his cheeks to push him away.
Her friend immediately obliged, concern weighing heavily on his drooping shoulders.
“What a terrible illness. His mind must be half-melted by now…" The patient muttered, flexing her fingers.
"What was that?"
"Oh! Sorry. Just mumbling to myself, that’s all. Being treated in the presence of a king must have rattled my nerves quite a bit." She threw a wrist over her forehead, shooting him a teasing smirk.
A snort broke the monk’s worry, and Haarini couldn't help but mirror his laughter as he sprung back to life. Wukong scooched just a little closer, emerald grass pooling at his waist. "Oh, I completely understand. After all, you are in the presence of someone so great."
As he tried to calm his giggling Haarini leaned on her elbows, scanning every inch of his body. "The long walk here hasn’t done me any favors either. Would you mind...?" She extended her leg.
Without hesitation, Wukong rolled up his sleeves.
Then cracked his knuckles.
Then cracked his neck.
Haarini raised a bushy brow.
“What?” The Monkey King sniffed, nose in the air, “I’m just preparing.” And with that, he began to message a twisted ankle.
The langur hummed, a round ear flicking absent-mindedly as she dipped lower. "You know, I was wondering. You can't swim without sinking. Why jump into a river to save me from drowning?"
For just a second, the deity’s carefree smile bent. "Come now, you’ve traveled with me long enough! Any challenge I've faced is just flimsy kindling in my hands. This was nothing! A fluke! A bump in the road!"
Another sniffle.
"But you could have easily let Sha Wujing do the honors. Or Zhu Baije. Or a barely sturdy tree branch.” Haarini said with a sigh of irritation.
The Monkey King’s face grew hot with embarrassment, but her thoughts marched on.
"It. I just. If there's anything wrong. If...if I did something wrong--" All concerns flipped on their side as the great sage’s lower back twitched, unable to stop a pitiful whimper from slipping out.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Last chance, dumbass.
"Don't worry! Don't worry! As I said, I'm perfectly well, th-thank you." Wukong's voice crackled, and he paused to rub at an aching throat. He gazed down at the flora beneath him, feeling its soft strokes between his claws. "Don’t assume, my friend. You didn't do anything wrong. It's hard to explain. Your presence is like...sitting under the cool shade on a hot day. Or the warmth of a snowy hot spring. I feel...relief around you. And I don’t want to lose something so precious."
"Tail's not moving at all..."
"Ugh! Forget it!" The king scratched at his scalp as he turned back to his patient-- just missing the way Haarini straightened like a ruler.
"Noted.” She agreed to the unknown, one-sided conversation with every bit of false confidence that she could muster. “Before I head back to our camp and leave you be, can I ask for one more favor? It's nice and painless this time, I promise." She implored.
"Of course." Wukong smiled, looking like he was one slight twitch from passing out in a fit of pain. "Anything for you."
She gently slapped a paw to his cheek, all innocent mannerisms dropping.
"You need to lie down before your injury gets worse."
Sun Wukong blinked slowly, eyes dull and glazed over. “...Excuse me?"
"Oh, don't give me that!" Her touch moved back to his forehead, "Your fever is most likely from an infected wound, as well as exhaustion from so much moving around."
"I'm-- snff-- I'm fi--" He stumbled, rubbing his eyes to clear a dizzy spell. Haarini immediately took the chance to crawl along the king’s back, lifting his robes, and he quickly sobered with a mortified squeak.
"Just as I thought." A puffy gash trailed down his back, blood matting his ginger fur. "For gods' sake, there's still grime stuck in the damn thing!"
Surprise turned to anger, and the immortal whipped his head around. Offense and shock pierced through the langur like arrows. Nonetheless she persisted, circling The Monkey King and toeing the line that could easily yank her down to the bottom layers of Diyu.
"Oh I know your type well." She growled. A silver claw poked him over and over, forcing him to stumble backwards. "Unwilling to admit weakness, unwilling to communicate, unwilling to keep yourself safe because-- despite your strength and cunning-- you believe yourself to be perfect and flawless and never make a single mistake!"
Wukong couldn’t help but flinch in pain as his back hit a tree, pinned to the wall by a single finger. "And of course immortality is an incredible power to wield, but it’s also completely useless if you spend an eternity unable to walk! So please, for my sake, stop pretending you're so invincible and let me help you already!"
The world paused. Fireflies danced over a pair of flushed faces. And ever-so-slowly, Haarini pulled away.
"I'm not very good at being subtle, am I?" She moaned, pressing a palm to her head.
"Maybe a little." Wukong trilled, wincing at a searing heat that shot up his spine.
Haarini opened her mouth for another lecture– blinking in surprise when the Monkey King obediently took a seat on a nearby rock.
"I don't suppose you brought any medicine...with..." He gasped, and Haarini’s paws flew up to her ears before they could burst.
“...ow.” Cracking a cautious eye open, Pilgrim felt a handkerchief press into his lap.
"Maybe let's start with this." Haarini chuckled, whacking his shoulder with a snowy tail. "You need it more than I do."
Her ankle throbbed. She shifted from foot to foot, snowy tail extending as she tried not to fall. But a gentle arm wrapped around her back, and a warm side pressed against her own.
For a body made of boulders, his skin was surprisingly soft.
"If I ask my master for help, will you promise to stay off your feet for a few days?" Wukong smiled sheepishly under half-soaked fabric.
A giggle brushed his ears like swaying wind chimes.
“We really are a wreck, aren’t we? Ahahaha!” Through her wobbling Haarini returned the favor, pulling her monk ever closer. "Alright, alright. Anything for you."

December 17,1991 Arthur made sure the Box was sealed up before walking to the front door of his house he check the time again to make sure Miranda would be home and awake,it was a comfortable but chilly sunny afternoon on a saturday and he decided to take the day off just for this occasion, the days after he brought the girl to live in his home have been more worrisome than he had anticipated and with the holidays approaching it wasn't exactly the right time for him to be away from the company.
The harmony & play like every single one of its competitors have a entire year of sellings and advertising to prepare for this very específic week, christmas was the most profitable period for the company but also the most stressful and it wouldn't stop until february of the coming year,until then there's is stocks,demand and money to think about and after all of this that was the plans for whatever potential disaster scenario they might have to deal in a near future,the thought of said situation already made him feel physically tired. this used to be her job and should still be her place,I still can't believe that hippie head to be the one of us with talent for business.
his personal theories are that the woman understood the capitalist game so well it was the sole reason she hated it so much and her ideas are what helped arthur to rise the company and his own pockets in the last few years lies & fraud she used to say is a shame she didn't want to make it by his side otherwise the three of them could have been living a dream by now.
at least i have my girl and a few years to make it up for.
and this is what he was going to do today or at best try it,Miranda was everything he imagine his children to be: well behaved,sweet and for the little she have opened up to him a bit curious which made it more important for arthur to be around and observe what will be necessary to shape her for into someone capable of fulfilling a place in company on a near future and everything that will come with it, for now however his only worries are that she was lonely and he would need something or someone to keep her company while he is away at work.
when he walked into the big living room the sound of the television playing a random movie indicated a possible place to where the girl was,he looked at the brightly decorated christmas tree near the dining table and placed the Box at the bottom with the piles of smaller gifts before walking around the couch that was placed in the same room, she was spotted laying on the floor sleeping on her stomach head against one of the couch pillows
you're going to get a stomach ache like this.
He knelt down beside her and gently shook the girl's shoulder while waiting for a response.She started to move her head and flipped to the side before noticing him,”good afternoon." he said while she was dizzy sitting “weelo.”,”did you sleep well?”his hand touched the dark wavy hair to move it away from her eyes,”yes.” she replied while looking at him with a gaze that reminded of a pair of black obsidian jewelry ”i got a surprise for you.”,
”you do?”she didn't sound excited or happy in the slightest
“yeah,there's a special gift on the tree right now and it has to be opened today." he pulled her up and waited for the girl to start walking before following right behind.
when she approached the tree they could hear the sound of scratching coming from inside the box Miranda looked at him puzzled “go on.” he tried to encourage and she hesitantly took the gift from the Christmas tree with a expression of suspicion but when she opened a fluffy head with pointy ears came out, arthur couldn't help but smile at the way her face lightened up and she squeal while hugging the cat in her arms jumping was if the happiness was too much to contain “thank you!”
”Did you like him?”he chuckled.“I love him!”, the feline was a almost classic tuxedo with bright yellow eyes that are highlighted by his perfect markings the only exception being the tail and one black paw,arthur had made sure it was a young adult so the cat would be trained and ready to be her first pet since he or anyone else in the house could lost time in training a young kitten,he took a seat from one of the dining table chairs and left the girl enjoying the gift for a while before asking something important “what is his name?” the cat much like miranda herself was still going through a adoption process and right now still needed a official name for being settled with them permanently,he made a deal with the shelter to bring the cat home earlier instead of normal procedures of the formal adoption when he asked why so much bureaucracy just for a pet they told him it was to make sure the people are responsible and there wasn't any risk for the pets and yet all of that formality was throw out of the window at the mention of money,a generous donation and the people in charge allowed a exception for him.
something in the back of his mind wondered if there was potential here,the arcadia project was still in need for more ideas and given it was too early for taking out of his private lock the space for concepts was very much open for whatever he could use,a loud giggle made him stop the brainstorm and he was back to at the house and i'm losing myself in thought again.
The girl was now using a ribbon from the gift box like an improvised toy and the cat seemed to be catching on to whatever game they were having,raising his paws or biting once while rolling from one side to another She didn't hear me.
he slapped his fingers a little “darling,what is his name?”,she stopped and looked at him “martin.” she said.
”yes…hum?no!not that one!” The girl was holding the cat again but higher up was if to show the cat to his face “why not he kinda looks like it.” ”like martin?”,”uhum from there!” she walked to the cabinet full of alcohol bottles and put one finger in the glass “this one.” After trying to understand what she was saying he noticed one of the bottles with a man wearing a tuxedo suit and the brading said Martyn in golden italian letters.
”oh well but you still have to choose something else,is not…very polite to have someone named after a drink.”
”o-okay…than bowtie?” “Sounds good to me.”
She nodded and walked excited to the entrance behind them. Great, do I get my own martin too?Does my next incarnation come in the form of a furball? he was debating with himself about the odd possibility before a voice coming the other room interrupted “good afternoon mr greywhinder.” the woman coming from another part of house said “hello lynn.'',lynn was one of three baby-sitters that worked in the house since miranda came to live with him, as much as he wanted to be around her the work and personal research took most of his time and now more than ever he felt the need to keep a tight grasp on things that could dictate the ways of both the company and the girl, unfortunately Miranda was still too young to take care of herself and so arthur was left with no choice but to hire people to look after her for the next few years or so i will teach her to be more independent but this is how things are for now even if i'm not very happy about it. ”you're free to go home for the rest of the day i'll take from here,you know the schedule.” ”Thanks, I just need to take my things first.” “Just one more thing, don't let her sleep on her stomach again is not good and I cannot have her sick even for a single day for the entire month.”
“right.” He could tell the woman was bothered by the tone of his words but it didn't matter he was not paying anyone to see his girl being neglected anyway, he watched the woman leave the room and turned his attention to Miranda again.
She had returned to the tv in front of the couch with bowtie by her side, the cat seemed to not mind the ruthless affection from before or anything the girl did to him, he is good at this. Most animals became very aggressive or uncomfortable at his presence which made the search for a pet difficult for him but for some reason this specific cat has not shown the same reaction even when provoked and that made him the perfect candidate for a companion.
Arhur tried to think of anything that she would like after he noticed that the first days of readjustment have not softened up their relationship. She is scared of me but doest say it. And he couldn't blame her neither the people around him would smile and treat him like he was a normal person but their faces never manage hide the uneasiness, despite having one eye now his vision was still sharp to see the true but miranda was still a child and children are easily scared by anything and so he decided try to gain her favor by the only means he was familiar with: gifts, it was a good idea at first but when arthur tried to actually find something that wasn't trivial he found out quickly that every idea he had could go very wrong i could commission someone or make something myself but nothing felt right.
The worst that could happen is that she hated it and he would have yet another thing to worry about in the form of an undesirable relationship. He asked for advice from multiple people and the answer came in the form of a passing comment “have you thought about a dog?One of my ex boyfriends got me one when I was seventeen,we broke up but I kept the dog and that relationship lasted for twelve years until sharky died.” he was not so interested with having his new house infested by constant barking and dirt but the idea stuck was the perfect solution still a dog even a small one would be a nuisance however a cat might be a better candidate for his small family necessities and so here we are.
About an hour later Lynn came to said goodbye to them and walked away from the place leaving the three of them alone in the house. He decided it was about time to have an important talk with the girl and sat on the couch near her. “Miranda come here, I want to tell you something.” when she was in front of him,he looked at her and started to speak “i know you don't feel at home here yet and that i'll have to do a lot for your wellbeing from now on.”he continued “but i want you to understand that you're my daughter now and that like any father i want you to be happy,just know that you ́re important for me and there would be never anyone else that can take that spot from you.” after those words left Arthur's mouth he thought saw a glimpse of something black & white in the corner of his vision but when he turned to see it there was only bowtie leaving the room to explore the house on his own, his attention was back at Miranda's face again “I'm promising you that things will get better but it takes time and I can't always be around so he is going to be your friend while I'm out.” He waited and her response took a while but after a bit of an awkward silence she finally managed to gather some courage and said “thank you.” In a shy tiny voice that did not have a single indication of confidence in the slightest. I guess that's a positive answer…well I have an entire day off now soo what now?. He figured it was up for him to break the tension If he was being honest Arthur didn't feel like being stuck isolated in his office again specially on a saturday,so he look at her and said “What do you want for dinner?I'm not cooking so you can ask for whatever you want because I am just going to lay on the couch and watch TV for the rest of the weekend.”

Found in Glimwood Tangle
The story of how Amity and Danny found each other in Glimwood Tangle and together started their journey to beat the gym challenge and take on Galar's champion! Danny Phantom AU where Danny and company are pokémon and Amity Park is their pokémon trainer.
Written for @crossoverdanuary Week, Day six: General video games Pokémon Sword & Shield | Momentum
I never played video games as a kid, and now as an adult I still haven't played that many. (Although I'm really enjoying Paranormasight right now. If I'd finished it, I might have used it for the crossover instead.) Pokémon Shield was my first ever pokémon game and my second ever video game period, and I know people say it's one of the less good pokémon games but I still have a certain fondness for it.

There was a white-haired girl in the forest, probably only seven or eight years old. Her white dress was stained with grass and dirt and moss. She was sitting on a tree stump. She was crying. She was lost.
He could remember sitting right where she was now, lost and crying... back when he was a boy and not a stump. Curiously, he approached her. He moved slowly, cautiously, trying not to startle her. But she startled anyway when she finally noticed him.
"Ah! A pokémon!" she shouted, falling off the stump and scrambling away. "Please don't hurt me!"
He tilted his head, watching silently with big, round eyes, careful not to move any closer and scare her away.
Her own eyes were wide with fear. She probably knew that wild pokémon were dangerous. But then, why was she here? Why had she wandered into Glimwood Tangle where it was so dark you could hardly see what was in front of you because the only light came from luminescent mushrooms. Why would she come to a place where the paths were so winding and confusing that even grown-ups sometimes got lost? Why would she go somewhere where ghost pokémon and psychic pokémon lived in such large numbers?
The Glimwood Tangle had been scary back when he was a boy. It must have been scary to her, too.
"H-hey," she said with a trembling voice. "You have green eyes, like me." It was true. Hers were even so bright they could almost be glowing, just like his were. "I've never seen a Phantump with green eyes before. I've only ever seen them with red eyes. But... I don't think you're a shiny Phantump, are you? You just have green eyes."
She seemed to be calming down now, so he risked floating a little bit closer to her. He hovered around her, checking to see if she was hurt. Her knees were bruised, but other than that, she looked okay.
"Dad says wild pokémon are dangerous, but you don't seem like you're gonna hurt me," she said, wiping the tear tracks from her cheeks. "My name is Amity, Amity Park. Do you have a name, little Phantump?"
He keened a response. I don't know. I can't remember.
Of course, she couldn't understand. She shuddered at the sound of his voice, but she didn't try to get away.
"Well... you've gotta have a name," she said. "Hm.... How about Danny? I always thought that was a nice name, don't you? You can be Danny the Phantump. Do you like it?"
Rather than try to answer when she wouldn't know what he was saying, he did a little flip in the air to show that he was happy. She'd picked out a good name for him, Danny. And now that she had calmed down a little, it was time to get her out of this forest.
Danny started floating away, back toward the path.
"Wait, where are you going?" Amity asked.
He stopped and turned back to look at her, nodding his wooden head for her to follow.
"You want me... to follow you?"
He did another flip of affirmation and waited as she hesitantly walked after him. She was tense, and trembling like a leaf, and stumbling on shaky legs, but she still followed, trusting him.
It had been a long time since Danny had gotten lost in these woods as a boy. Now, as a pokémon, he knew every path by heart. When they had to pass through tall grass, he floated high enough that Amity could see him, and tried to keep her away from any other pokémon he could spot.
They were almost to Ballonlea when a particularly bold and naughty impidimp jumped on Amity and she screamed.
Danny immediately flew to her rescue, hooking one of his branches around the impidimp and flinging it off. He saw that it was about to attack him next, but he tackled it and it ran away.
"Danny, you saved me!" Amity shouted, and wrapped her arms around his wooden head in an almost splintering hug.
For a moment, he let himself savor the contact. But her scream and shout would have attracted even more wild pokémon to her, and they would be here soon. He phased out of her grip and urged her forward. They weren't out of the woods yet, but they were so close. He could see the lights of Ballonlea piercing through the thick foliage of Glimwood Tangle.
"Right," Amity said determinedly as she realized what he was trying to do. "Let's keep going."
She stayed quiet and stuck close behind him, and he led the way and kept his eye out for other pokémon. Then, finally, A bright pink pokémon center stood before them, its neon sign lighting up the clearing. They had left Glimwood Tangle.
"Come on, Danny it's my turn to lead the way," Amity said. "My house is that way."
He hesitated, turning and looking back at the forest. He didn't belong in a town. Glimwood Tangle was his home. It was too bright here, too loud, too crowded.
"Do you not wanna come?" Amity asked, her face morphing into something very sad. "It's okay. I understand. Thank you for helping me. If you want to go back, I won't stop you."
Then again... Amity was his friend now, wasn't she? A friend. That was all he'd wanted since he died in those woods. A friend.
Danny did not turn back. Instead, unsure though he was, he floated forward. He cautiously followed Amity past the pokémon center, toward a big round building—the pokémon gym.
There were ropes cordoning off the entrance to the gym from the rest of the town. Amity slipped right under them and kept going without a thought.
"This year's gym challenge is going on right now, so they put these ropes up to keep gym challengers from getting lost," Amity explained. "Ballonlea can be hard to find your way around when you're not used to it."
She led the way up a hill, to a modest wooden house at the very top. It looked almost the same as every other house on the street, except the roof had been painted green instead of purple. Amity pushed open the lavender door with ease. It wasn't locked.
"Dad, I'm home!" she called.
"Amity! Sweetheart, where did you go?" A man hurried to the front doorway to wrap his daughter up in a hug.
Startled and uncertain, Danny tucked himself behind Amity, out of her father's sight.
"I was worried sick. I looked all the places you usually go, and couldn't find you. I was just calling the neighbors to see if they knew where you were. Are you alright? Your dress is all dirty. You're not hurt, are you?"
"I'm okay, now," Amity assured him, hugging him tightly back. "I heard someone in the woods calling for help. They sounded close, so I thought it would be okay if I went to help them, but whenever I got close to the voice, it would get farther away, and before I knew it, the voice was gone, and I was lost. I was really scared for a while, but then Danny came and showed me the way home."
"Danny?" her father questioned. "I don't know any Danny."
"He found me in the woods," she said. "It's okay, you can come out."
Cautiously, Danny showed himself to Amity's father.
"A wild pokémon?" he said. "Wait, but it has green eyes. I've never seen a phantump with green eyes before."
"Me neither," Amity said. "But he helped me, and protected me when another pokémon attacked. I know I'm only seven and you said I can't start training pokémon until I'm ten, but can I please please please have a pokéball so I can catch him and take care of him. Please!"
"Well... I don't know," her father said. "A pokémon is a lot of responsibility, especially when it used to be wild. I would feel much more comfortable if your first pokémon came from a breeder. I've spoken to Elena, who lives near the pokémon center and she said she'd be happy to breed a nice starter pokémon for you."
"But Danny saved me!" Amity insisted. "I want him to be my pokémon."
Her father sighed and looked back at Danny, his expression halfway between resigned and scrupulous. "Do you want to be Amity's pokémon?" he asked.
Danny keened and bobbed up and down.
"And you'll take care of her and keep her safe?"
Danny repeated the response.
Mr. Park turned to his daughter next. "And you'll take care of Danny, and make sure to train him properly?"
Amity nodded determinedly and clenched her fists.
Finally, her father sighed, giving in. "Alright, fine. I think I have a pokéball around here somewhere."
—
From that day on, Amity and Danny were partners, and Amity took her responsibility as a pokémon trainer very seriously. She would feed him every day, and talk to other pokémon trainers about how best to train him.
When his head got knocked around in a training battle with her neighbor's dwebble, Amity sanded away the splinters so they wouldn't turn into cracks.
On the day the whole family gathered around the television to watch the gym challenge finals, Amity sat on the floor, right up close, with a notebook and a pen, ready to write down everything they did so she could learn from them. Mr. Park sat behind her on the couch with Danny curled up on the seat next to him.
"You know," Mr. Park said softly, running his fingers over the wooden grooves on Danny's head. "I've never seen her so serious about anything. She's always been a light-hearted, carefree kid, but she sure cares about you."
Danny had been surprised to hear that. He'd blinked up at the man, confused. To him, Amity had always been like this. Amity was gentle, and caring, and kind. She worked hard, and studied, and did her best. It was hard to believe she was doing all this for him, and not just because it was her nature.
It was on that day that Danny swore to always protect Amity Park, no matter what.
If she was giving her all for him, then he would do the same for her.
The challenger lost to Raihan in the finals, and Raihan lost to Leon, but Amity had apparently taken a lot of notes on all the fights and was eager to apply them to her own training methods.
—
By the time Amity finally turned ten, she and Danny were inseparable. Everyone around town was so used to them, Danny hardly ever had to go in his pokéball. They were simply another feature of Ballonlea, like that weird guy who made sculptures in an alleyway and wanted to be a pokémon.
Then, on her birthday, something changed.
"Happy birthday, Amity," Mr. Park said, and he reached into his pocket, and handed her a pokéball. "I worked with Elena to pick out a good one for you."
Amity turned it around in her hands while Danny floated closer to examine it, confused. It seemed to be occupied. Danny could even catch a faint whiff of ozone coming from it. How strange.
"A pokémon?" Amity asked. "But I already have Danny."
Her father laughed. "You said you wanted to do the gym challenge this year, didn't you?" he said. "You'll need more than one pokémon if you want to have a chance of beating the champion. Even if your pokémon is as great as Danny."
"No one can beat the champion, that's why they call him Unbeatable Leon," Amity said. "But I guess you're right. As great as Danny is, I can't put all that pressure on him."
She could, Danny wanted to tell her. If Amity wanted to take on the gym challenge with him as her only pokémon, then he would fight like he'd never fought before. But Amity wasn't like that. She never gave him more than he could handle, and she wouldn't make him take on such a huge challenge alone. She was too kind for something like that.
"So which pokémon did you pick?" she asked.
"Throw it out and see," he answered with a smile, and gestured to the door to the backyard.
Once they were outside, Amity threw out the pokéball.
"Alright, pokémon, come on out!" she called.
The ball opened with a popping noise, and in a bolt of light, a little dog pokémon was standing on the moss lawn.
"Yamp! Yamp!" he barked.
"It's a yamper!" Mr. Park said brightly. "Normally, starter pokémon are either fire, grass, or water types, but Elena said especially talented trainers, or ones with more experience, have had a lot of success with electric types, who tend to be difficult to control for complete newbies. We thought yamper would be a good choice. What do you think?"
"Aww, he's so cute!" Amity said, kneeling down to rub her hands on the yamper's admittedly very fluffy-looking scruff. "I think I'll call him Tucker. That's a good name, right?"
"Uh... sure, whatever you like," her father agreed. "Although it's a bit atypical to give pokémon human names like Danny and Tucker, if you like it, that's all that matters."
"Oh, haha," she giggled as she stood up. "Look, the static is making it so his fur is trying to stick to me!"
Tucker ran in excited circles, electricity arcing around him. Danny floated down for a closer look and Tucker zapped him. It didn't seem intentional, but it was still rude. And that silly dog only yapped and rolled over, thinking it was terribly funny. The joke was on him, though. Electic-type moves weren't very effective on Danny.
"Elena says that yamper are best motivated with treats," Mr. Park said. "That should help you train him. He's still young and nowhere near Danny's level, but you have a couple months before the gym challenge to get him there."
"You say that like I'm already registered, but I need an endorsement to even sign up," Amity pointed out.
"Oh, don't be silly, Amity," her father said. "Everyone around here knows you're already a great pokémon trainer. I'm sure Opal is ready to endorse you the first chance she gets. When word got out it was your birthday today, I heard she was thrilled. She said, 'The next champion will come from Ballonlea!'"
Amity laughed. "That didn't happen!"
"Sure it did," her father insisted, though his smile betrayed him. "And anyway, I stand by saying she'll endorse you. I have no doubts about it."
—
At first, Danny was dubious about the new pokémon, but it was only a couple of days before the two of them were getting along famously.
So Amity and Danny spent the next few months training up Tucker. Amity had Danny remember some of his older, weaker moves for training fights with the much lower level yamper. And just like Mr. Park had said, Tucker wasn't very motivated and often had to be bribed with treats, especially sausages. But Amity was clever, and persevered, and soon enough, Tucker was a strong pokémon too.
Once sign ups for the gym challenge opened, Amity was sure her pokémon were ready for it. She took her pokémon to the Ballonlea gym and asked Gym Leader Opal for an endorsement to join. She had faith in Danny and Tucker, but just in case, she made sure to wear her pink dress when she asked. That would surely put Opal in a good mood.
"Why, Amity, I would be honored to endorse you," Opal told her. "But, I am also a gym leader, and it's a point of pride not to endorse just any trainer who asks without first testing their mettle."
"I'm ready," Amity said. "Whatever your test is, I'll take it now."
"Alright then, pop quiz," Opal said. "If I recall correctly from seeing you train them around town, your pokémon are a phantump and a yamper. What will they evolve into?"
"Tucker will evolve into a Boltund once he's strong enough. It shouldn't be long now," Amity answered. "And Danny won't evolve."
"Oh, I'm afraid that's only half-right, my dear," Opal said apologetically. "Phantump can evolve into trevenant."
"Yes, but a phantump only evolves into a trevenant when it's traded, and I would never trade Danny to anyone, even temporarily. You asked what my pokémon would evolve into. And my phantump isn't going to evolve. Besides, I don't think he would want to, anyway."
She was right. Tucker was always yapping excitedly about evolving into boltund, but Danny was perfectly happy just the way he was.
"Hm... I stand corrected," Opal said. "It seems you know your own pokémon even better than you know pokémon evolutions. If you'll come with me to my office a moment, I'll write you a letter of endorsement right now."
And she did just that.
"You take that letter to the gym in Motostoke, and they'll register you for the gym challenge," Opal explained. "It's quite a ways away, so you can call a flying taxi from the pokémon center when you're ready to go, but it's usually better to get to new places on your own two legs from there. You can train your pokémon on the routes between towns, and even catch new ones if you want to."
"I know," Amity said, taking the letter with reverence. "Thank you Ms. Opal. I won't let you down."
"I can't imagine you would," Opal said. "Good luck, Amity. I know you'll do great."
Amity was eager to get started. She went right home, packed her bag, and dressed in her favorite outfit, a white dress, white trainers, bright green leggings, and her favorite white boater hat. She'd gotten a lot better at keeping white clothes from getting dirty over the years, but she could only hope they wouldn't be ruined on her journey.
The ride in the flying taxi was amazing. The driver even let her keep Danny out of his pokéball since he was so well-behaved.
"Look at how small everything looks from up here," she said. Then she looked up at the massive bird carrying the taxi. "Maybe my next pokémon will be a corviknight."
"Oh, I wouldn't recommend that," the driver said. "A corviknight can be a lot to handle from the start. If you want one of these majestic pokémon, you'd do better to catch a rookidee and evolve it through training. That's how we get all the corviknight for the taxi service, that's why they're so gentle."
"A rookidee, huh?" Amity repeated. "Yeah, I like that idea. Danny, from now on, lets be on the lookout for a rookidee. I think Sam will be a good name for it. That will work whether it's a girl or a boy. What do you think?"
Danny keened in agreement, and Amity smiled like the sunshine. It had been a long time since his voice had made her shudder in the woods so long ago. And now, their journey was finally taking off.

My Beloved Cat - Ginger
This is about my cat who is dying, just a warning for those who can't see that right now.
How do you choose an urn for a pet that hasn’t passed yet?
She won’t care, she’s a cat, there’s no color or shape or material or sentiment for her to say, “I like the idea of resting here.”
She will be ash and finely ground bones. I don’t believe in an afterlife and I’m sure that will be the end of her, of us.
But will her ash and bone, changeable to many shapes, filling the spaces the way she once did cracks in my heart, will they find the space comfortable and comforting? Will they feel closed in and claustrophobic? I know they won’t actually feel. I know. They will be inert in their plastic wrap inside her urn.
But will she find peace and solace?
I won’t.
But like all parents, I want better for my children.
I think I’ll choose ceramic. Earthen and warm between my hands. No risk of damage when I cry. I can cradle her close that way. The blue one with the paw prints will do. (It costs extra. I don’t know how to feel about that.)
It asks for an engraving, 25 characters in 3 lines to sum up the whole of my love. If someone finds it in the future, will they know how important she was to me? What the fuck am I supposed to write?
My Beloved Cat
Ginger
Three steps down, four to go.
What keepsakes would I like? There’s two included in the price, and three of them are free. The ash pendants cost extra.
I know I want the ink paw print. I’ve gotten the sand one before, but it looked unnatural . I had hoped to rest my finger in the dip of her toes and feel closer to her. Instead I felt disappointment. No. No sand. Ink looks softer and I can trace where her fur will smudge and pretend to pet her that way.
I’ve done the fur clipping key chain before too. It looked fake and disconnected and I think I lost it in my hatred of the plastic keeping me from touching her again. But I don’t wear jewelry, so maybe I should get it anyways. But my dad gave me $300 to cover the base service and freebies. The money I saved for this can go to silly extras.
I’ll get the tree of life pendant. The thin metal can warm on my chest or in my pocket or stay cool on the mantel. I can take her with me when I need her support again.
(Did you know I didn’t kill myself so I could keep loving her longer?)
(Will this pendant help me the next time it happens?)
(She meowed at me this morning as she demanded pats in my lap. Cancer doesn’t care that she’s dying at 10 years old. Why can’t you live with me forever baby girl? It’s not fair to miss you while you’re still here, withering or not.)
I added the stupid key chain too.
It said that would be 15 dollars more now. I took it off and the ink print is no longer free.
There is $41.56 in taxes for the services and mementos. I’ve doubled the base cost already and I can't afford much more beyond this.
Step 6:
I hereby certify that I am the owner or authorized agent for the owner of the animal described and I hereby authorize the above specified method of disposition. In authorizing the cremation of animals, I hereby agree to indemnify and hold The Company and their agents, managers, and employees harmless for any claims, lawsuits, or other actions, including damages, costs, expenses, an attorney’s fees, brought against them by a third party claiming that the cremation of an animal was unauthorized.
Please sign below using your touch screen or mouse.
(My name looks like a child wrote it. I feel like one. I just want my kitty.)
Step 7: Legal Disclaimers Dispute Resolution by Binding Arbitration Abandonment Waiver of Jury Trial (this one is in all capital letters, like they’re yelling at me) Severability Attorney’s Fees Initial Here
(I don't believe in god, but god, please, help me.)
They didn’t list an 8th step, but the 8th step is payment.
I double check my bank account and confirm I’ll get paid this Friday so the extra costs aren’t hitting when they shouldn’t.
$586.56 to lose my baby.
They will call me later and I can download steps 6 and 7 for my records.
How do you choose an urn for a pet that hasn’t passed yet?
By crying silently at work, watching the clock tick down to my next meeting, and imagining a future where I can hold her urn ashes close to me in the morning. I can sip my coffee and still watch the birds with her that way.
I hope she likes it. She’ll never see it, her final resting place.
But I hope she likes it.

[Catherine and Sophie follow Cedric to the dark entrance of a forest with slightly bluish-green leaves.]
[Sophie] "Mystery dungeon?"
[Cedric] "It might look like one, but this is actually the front gate of the city."
[Sophie doesn't trust Cedric, but she and Catherine follow him into the darkness. Once fully in, they are no longer able to see anything in front of him.
The darkness lasts for half a minute of walking before they reach any kind of light. They step out into a massive city where bridges cross between large trees, and the trees themselves are houses for the Pokémon that live there. Surrounding the city are even more trees that are tall enough to reach the sky.
Sophie couldn't believe her eyes.]
[Cedric] "Here we are."
[Sophie] "Wow. This place looks so cool. Doesn't it, Cath?"
[Silence.]
[Sophie] "Cath?"
[Sophie looks to her side, only to find her Dragonite friend didn't make it through the other side. The Slowking angrily looks back to Cedric, who had just turned around.]
[Sophie] "Where is she?"
[Cedric] "Oh, that's right… I believe she's being questioned by the guard."
[Sophie] "Guard?"
[Meanwhile, Catherine finds herself in a small dimly lit area. Looking around, she doesn't see anyone else she knows.]
[Catherine] "Sophie?"
[???] "Silence."
[A dark circle slides under Catherine, and then multiple shadowy chains shoot from the ground and wrap around the Dragonite's wrists and ankles, keeping her in place, and causing her to shriek.]
[???] "I said silence."
[The shackles turn Catherine around to face a shiny blue Decidueye giving her a serious glare.]
[Decidueye] "You're not getting into our town unless you pass our evaluation. Answer my questions and nothing else, got it?"
[Catherine has her mouth open as she tries to process what's going on. The Decidueye remains silent, waiting for her reaction.]
[Catherine, scared] "Um… Okay."
[Decidueye] "What's your name and occupation?"
[Catherine, scared] "C… Catherine. I'm… a Protector."
[The Decidueye looks down slightly.]
[Decidueye, whispering] "Protectors. Aren't they gone?"
[He then looks back up.]
[Decidueye] "Present your badge."
[Catherine shakingly takes out her Protectors Badge and shows it to the Decidueye. He takes the badge and checks it around for any evidence of it being a counterfeit.]
[Decidueye, whispering] "Impossible… It's legit. Does that mean…"
[Once he's done with his inspection, he gives the badge back to the Dragonite.]
[Decidueye] "What's your purpose for entering our town?"
[Catherine, scared] "I'm on a mission."
[Decidueye] "Present your papers."
[Catherine, scared] "Actually…"
[Catherine pulls out her Connection Orb. The Decidueye takes it and inspects it.]
[Decidieye, whispering] "I can't believe it. No, this can't be… Why would the expedition society…"
[The Decidueye shakes his head and gives the Connection Orb back to Catherine.]
[Decidueye] "Give me a moment… Stay right there, understand?"
[Catherine nods.
The Decidueye turns around and walks into the darkness.
In the entrance to Eco City, Sophie is still angry at Cedric.]
[Sophie] "Why didn't you tell us about this guard?"
[Cedric] "It completely crossed my mind."
[Sophie crosses her arms and squints her eyes.]
[Sophie, sarcasm] "Yeah, it did."
[Cedric] "I mean it, genuinely."
[Suddenly, Catherine flies out of the darkness and lands on the city grass, grabbing her arms and taking deep breaths.]
[Sophie] "Cath!"
[Sophie and Cedric approach the Dragonite.]
[Sophie] "You okay?"
[Catherine, worried] "I don't know. Maybe?"
[Cedric] "My apologies for not telling you about the guard. It slipped my mind completely."
[Sophie puts a hand on Catherine's left arm.]
[Sophie] "Come on, Cath. Let's get this mission over with."
[Sophie begins to walk into the city, and Catherine follows her.]
[Cedric] "Thank you for the company."
[He doesn't get a response from either of them. Catherine is too focused trying to calm down, while Sophie didn't care.]

Reunited, and It's in the Woods!
"Fleetwood Mac alright?" One hand on the wheel, another on her battered leather CD case, Shaun rifles through her collection as they made their way down the road. Of course, still surfacing often to keep her eyes on the road. Meeting the look on Lilith's face, she can only laugh.
"What? You should expect this by now, being friends with a dyed-in-the-wool dyke. Plus, it's a road trip. Can't go wrong with a little Americana." Before Lilith can protest, she wiggles the 'Rumors' album from its case, sliding it into the console. "Blame Casey for lending me the vinyl."
Glancing across the aisle, though, she can only crick a slight smile; the further they got from Williamsburg, the more Lilith seemed to uncoil and relax. Shaun had only gotten to see her once—she'd made good on that 'make-up' night, and cuddling was an understatement, not that she'd minded—so it was nice to see her again, knowing the stress of everything could be put on pause for a weekend. "Lucky you, I got the window fixed. So you've got an out if Stevie Nicks isn't worth living for."
Shaun just amplifies the pain by cranking up the volume, pausing to rifle for a cigarette. "Really, though...I'm glad we could do this." Though, surely to Lilith's chagrin, it only gets worse as 'Second Hand News' fades into 'Dreams'. Usually Shaun wasn't too forward in bursting into song, but she'd be remiss to not give into the good vibes that were already circulating. A pleasant weekend away in the woods, a full cooler of booze and steaks, and the company of wayward friends. She couldn't help to take a bit of joy in it.
"Now here you go again, you say you want your freedom Well, who am I to keep you down? It's only right that you should play the way you feel it But listen carefully to the sound of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat, drives you mad In the stillness of remembering what you had And what you lost And what you had And what you lost
Oh, thunder only happens when it's raining Players only love you when they're playing Say, women, they will come and they will go When the rain washes you clean, you'll know You'll know"
While at first the sameness of Williamsburg transitioned to that of the city outskirts, it too eventually faded into smaller and smaller towns and taller and taller trees. As the towering of distant mountains moved closer, Shaun knew their drive was nearing its end. And thank god for the truck, for the dirt road curling around the sierra's base wasn't as closely maintained as she'd figure. She couldn't help but wish Tek the best of luck in her little beater. But as shit as the way up had been, she couldn't help but to find the quaint, old log cabin quite charming. Among a smattering of maples and oaks, the climb straightened out into a small jut of straight land before spilling downhill towards the lake. With its green tin roof and layer of red paint plastered over the door, and the distant shed with a weathered canoe tipped against its wall, she couldn't help but to think "L.L. Bean cover".
"Shit. Good job, Lilith." Shaun chuckles, pulling past the overhanging porch to leave room for the others. "I didn't know you were into Deliverance chic. It's even got one of those fancy fire pits." In the back, a swing, some wooden lawn chairs, and an overturned log circled the metal grate in its center, leaving plenty of room between it and a charcoal grill. "Want to christen the place? Check for badgers? I can start unloading." She cuts the engine, sitting contentedly in the cooler air gifted by the elevation for a moment.

Up the Hill
for @christian-latte-anon, based on my response in this post
"What do you think about moving out of the city?" She asks, not hesitantly, but a little haltingly. Like she thinks he'll want to stay here, in their little apartment where they'd moved right after they got married, and she doesn't want to press it too hard. Neither of them has had one, solid place to stay for a very long time. Maybe it's time they did.
Raleigh's immediate, almost-before-she-finishes-her-sentence response is, "I've always wanted to build my own house."
Mako's whole face lights up, and then Raleigh mirrors her grin, and they're looking up properties for sale by evening. They don't care where it is, anywhere calm and safe where they can make a home. A place they can stay, for a very long time.
It's just outside a reasonably sized town, a place that looks like a snapshot picture taken long before the Kaiju War. The property is down a long driveway, up a long, mellow hill. It's fall when they sign the papers, and the leaves on the trees are vivid red as they drive through the valley. There's a foundation in place already, a framework in place for whatever they're going to build together.
They design it together, of course, with plans to build a detached garage later on — for tinkering, mostly Mako's, but to keep Raleigh's tools as well — and Raleigh starts building as soon as spring hits. He's always enjoyed this kind of work, though the majority of his experience is more industrial. Now, he's building using logs and timbers instead of metal beams and panels. It's different, but he likes it.
Mako climbs up onto the framework with him one day in the middle of the warmest summer he's experienced in years, and they eat lunch right there, looking down over the half-finished house the same way they'd looked out over Gipsy Danger in the Shatterdome almost five years before. How far, geographically, emotionally, relationally, they've come.
Raleigh has never been the best at domestics with anyone but his brother. There was an uncomfortable adjustment period, directly following their marriage, that neither of them had known what to do with a semi-normal life. They'd spent most of their time following the destruction of the Breach focused on cleanup and recovery efforts, still living in the Shatterdome for nearly a year afterwards.
Even when Raleigh had finally gotten up the guts to get down on one knee — which hadn't even surprised Mako, latent drift and all — they'd still been working out of one base or another, traveling around mostly together, but often not. The apartment was their first step back into a world where Jaeger pilots weren't needed any longer, and it was more like stepping down a set of stairs when you thought you were at the bottom already. Neither of them was prepared for what normalcy meant — grocery shopping, delegating household chores, Mako's twice-yearly need to rearrange all the furniture. It was intensely uncomfortable for about a month, before they finally, finally managed to relax into it, and into each other again.
Now, with a truck (and a car) packed full of boxes, ready to move in to a house that is solely, fully theirs, both of them are ready to tagteam making the bed, tidying the living room, checking for any final unwashed spoons (from sneaking ice cream) or mugs (late night tea) before sinking silently into bed. It's fall again, and according to the locals the first snow should hit soon — perfect timing for finishing a house. Raleigh convinces Mako halfway up the hill to let him carry her over the threshold.
His work building the house, along with past credentials that make a trail across coastal Alaska, catches the attention of some of the locals in town, and within another few months, Raleigh has a steady job working with a local construction company. Mako does not let him kiss her, or try to surprise hug her from behind — which doesn't work, anyway, he can't surprise her — until he's washed his hands. She's a hypocrite, the way her hands are often stained with grease from whatever vintage or otherwise car she's tinkering with, so half the time they both end up smeared with the residue of each other's labor.
They keep to themselves, there in their cabin up the hill, but they aren't hermits. Mako's mechanical engineering skills make her popular with the town's teenagers, particularly those looking for a skill to learn. If they're willing to drive — or, in some cases, bike — up the hill, they can fiddle around with her in the big detached garage with all her pieces and parts. One boy, a quiet, curious-eyed high schooler living with his aunt downtown, walks up the driveway in mid-September to show off a robotics project. That night, Mako sits at the kitchen island and makes a phone call to the school's principal.
"Do you have a robotics club?" She asks, not hesitantly, but unsure. She's still an outsider to many people here. She waves over her shoulder at Raleigh as he walks into the room, before he even says anything. When the principal says no, is there interest? Her face lights up and she replies, "I have interest in starting one."
So: Raleigh with his construction work to keep him from going stir-crazy and purposeless, Mako with her robotics club and a gaggle of teens around her — most of whom surpass her in height, which Raleigh takes far too much pleasure in pointing out and gets elbowed in the ribs over quite often — and a place they can stay for a very long time.
There's a secondhand shop in town, across the street from Raleigh's favorite grocery store. Their deal is that he does the grocery shopping, which Mako hates — "You take too long," she complains, "Just get what we need and be done!" — while she putters around the thrift store. The mantelpiece of their fireplace at home is cluttered with little trinkets and knickknacks.
Their second Christmas in the house they built up the hill, they drive out to a tree farm an hour away and pick a bushy, fragrant fir. Jake is coming for Christmas, Raleigh's invited Tendo too, and the fake tree they'd brought from the apartment and used last year currently resides in the garage for the robotics club kids to have a small celebration around. Mako has never had a live Christmas tree, and Raleigh suddenly feels as if he's failed her — so, a live tree they shall have.
It probably takes up too much space, but it fits, including a silver and gold star on the topmost point. Mako sits on Raleigh's shoulders to hook an absolutely ridiculous amount of ornaments — half of which were collected from the secondhand shop, little trinkets that probably meant something different to their original owners — to the upper section of branches. It isn't until a little too late that they realize they should have strung the lights around first.
"Save some for the kids to decorate the little tree," Raleigh says over his shoulder, heading into the kitchen to drop off empty hot cocoa mugs. He pauses, then, turns back. Mako is facing away from him, her hand hesitating over a branch, poised to hang another ornament. Her head is tipped to the side, as if she's thinking hard about something.
Something quiet prods at Raleigh's mind, but he can't discern it. Something about her kids, about the way he'd said it so casually — the kids are almost a constant presence, when they aren't holding meetings at the high school; both he and Mako have gotten used to the questions about Jaeger piloting by now — and it's playing along the edges of their remaining drift bond, a quiet loop that's more vague feeling than words.
Mako places the ornament, a silver and blue fish, on the tree, and Raleigh turns away again. He zones out a little bit, watching snow blow off the eaves just outside the kitchen window. Mako won't stay quiet if something is bothering her, but he doesn't think something is. For a moment, he considers refilling his cocoa cup, but it's probably not a good idea. He's driving to the airport in the morning to pick up Jake; a sugar high to keep him awake isn't much help.
Still, it's nearly midnight by the time the lights are strung — slightly tangled with ornaments — and the remainder of the decorations are safely in the garage, where the kids will spread glitter and goodwill on Christmas Eve night. Raleigh almost dozes off as soon as his head hits the pillow, the hot cocoa sugar high turning into a sugar crash, but that little thing is still bouncing around in his head. The kids; he'd said it unthinkingly, like a given — like he would talking about their kids, if they had any.
Mako is curled up asleep already against his side, and Raleigh is about to drift off and join her. He's going to pick up Jake in the morning, Tendo is coming the day after, the kids are going to decorate the little tree for Christmas Eve; it's going to be a busy week. The house up the hill is going to be slightly bustling in the way only holidays, no matter the amount of guests, can cause.
Neither of them has brought up the topic of starting a family yet, not hesitantly, not at all. Maybe it's time they did.

Jealousy Jealousy (rewrite)
Angst -> Fluff: Embry Call x GN!reader
Summary: Embry gives y/n a slap in the face about reality after they constantly sulk about Bella.
A/N: I'm much more content with this one and I actually might end up deleting the other one, sorry about that. I actually took a lot more time editing this and didn't write this when I was burnt out compared to the other one! I'm just overall way happier with the other one because I knew that the other one wasn't my true capability.
warnings: angst (that's all I could really think of tell me if you see anything else!)

Constant notifications vibrated Jacob's phone as we sat on his couch together watching the movie on the screen. I shot him a look of annoyance, signaling him to check his phone which he did swiftly. His eyes shot open in surprise before he shot up from the couch and throwing on a shirt and shoes, hopping out the door as he attempted to put the last shoe on.
"Sorry y/n! Bella just told me she was free, you know what it's been like for her!" He hastily shouted out before sprinting down the gravel driveway.
"Bye!" I shouted back, trying to hide my disappointment.
I grimaced at the situation. On one hand, I knew how the sudden disappearance of the Cullens devastated her, especially Edward's sudden abandonment but this happened way too many times. But on the other, Jacob was like her puppy dog now, it was like I wasn't even his friend anymore, it was like our friendship meant nothing.
Knowing that Jacob wouldn't be back anytime soon, I got my stuff and locked the door behind me before driving over to Emily's place to surround myself in the livelier company.
"Sup y/n! Missed me didn't ya!" Jared boomed as I opened the door to which I replied with a "you wish". I chuckled at his dramatic pain as he pretended to hold his heart, eyes shut and face contorting.
"Know where Embry is?" Questioning the dramatic boy as I peered around the room to see if I could find any trace of the lanky boy, no luck.
"Finding your loverboy huh? With the deepest of regrets, I must inform you that he was put on patrol today." He said, mocking my curiosity over Embry's whereabouts. I stuck my tongue out at him to tease him before flipping him off and leaving to the porch to await Embry.
"Knock it off Paul, it's not what you think"
"yeah sure, and if it wasn't what I HEARD THROUGH THE MINDLINK then I don't know what else it could have been"
Their voices permeated through the thick fog as their silhouettes came into view, Paul's muscly tall physique was seen locking an arm around Embry's tall lanky but lean body.
"Aw buzz off Paul," Embry said as he struggled to get Paul's arm off of his neck. He laughed at his struggle before letting go as he noticed me, shooting Embry a smirk to which a slight blush came onto his face, only noticeable as they got closer. Odd.
"Sup Paul," I smirked at him before turning my attention over to Embry.
"And hello to you too wolf boy," teasing him to which he shot a glare at me before attempting to stifle his laughs.
Paul said a prompt bye before jogging into the house to fill up his appetite whilst Embry sat down next to me, his body warmth radiating. The cold air nipped at my skin, pushing me to get closer to the much warmer boy as I swung my legs into his lap and resting my head on his shoulder.
"Jacob left again?"
A sigh left my mouth at his obvious question.
Closing my eyes promptly, I answered with a short nod. A response that showed my true feelings after all these times of being blown off by Jacob.
We sat in silence, my eyes closed as I felt his shoulders move up and down in a rhythmic motion, lulling me to sleep almost. The deafening quiet seemed to almost suffocate us before I decided to talk.
"I don't know what to do anymore Embry, I'm always there for him when he needs me but, he runs to her at the drop of a hat or more like a single text message," I grumbled, reminiscing about the times Jacob's left me in the dust for Bella, excuses sprouting up.
"Why does everyone in this town seem to be so infatuated with her," expecting no response I kept going.
"Is it because she's Charlie's daughter? Hell if I was his child Jacob would be all over me too right? I'd be the hot topic of town too, people staring at me wherever I go, being suddenly accepted by the Cullen family and Jacob. I'd really have the best of both worlds wouldn't I?" Scowling at my own questions, I turned to Embry for answers.
"Am I not right?"
Silence.
"Helloooooooo, Earth to Embry?" I said, poking his cheeks with my finger. His brows seemed to be furrowed together, eyes lost in thought, his attention elsewhere.
There seemed to be no response from him to which I huffed and turned back to stare at the fog rolling in.
Closing my eyes to embrace the serenity once more, his lulling voice startled me.
“I don’t think it’s true.”
I turned my head towards him, curiosity piqued by his response.
“Let’s be real Embry, I’d have the best time of my life if I was Bella fucking Swan. Every guy would love me, all the attention would be on me and I wouldn’t be a second option again. Hell, I’d even be able to actually confess to my crush without fearing rejection.” Bitterness laced the last sentence as I satirically spoke my mind. Looking at Embry’s hands and wishing they were embracing mine, the sudden gesture of his fist clenching as his knuckles turned white shocked me, he was mad.
“God y/n, why the hell do you always need to compare yourself to Bella? She hasn’t even done anything to you. It’s always Bella this Bella that if I was her blah blah blah. Get over yourself, you’re not her and you won’t ever be. Learn how to appreciate yourself and live YOUR life and stop moping around. So what Jacob runs to Bella each time, you have Jared, Emily, Paul, and everyone else.”
A long silence suspended in the air.
“You have me and you come running, you never see the other people around you cause you’re too busy complaining. You can’t even see how much I love you cause you’re so stuck up about being Bella and being Jacob’s priority aren’t you?” Finishing his sentence, he proceeded to get up before walking away. Stopping before reaching the woods, his back faced to me, he spoke simply.
“Find me when you can learn to be y/n and not Bella.”
His form morphed before running into the woods on all fours, leaving me stunned. After a brief moment, tears flooded my eyes. I never got to tell him that I do like him, I never got to tell him that I just want his attention, I just wanted him.
Thoughts spiraled in my head, I was jealous of Bella for sure but I was jealous because of the attention she was given. I just wanted Embry to treat me like she was treated, I wanted to be special to him.
I ran home, I ran because I was scared. I was scared I wouldn't be able to look at him properly.
Weeks passed as we ceased to talk, and I ceased to exist in the small town of Forks. Or so I thought.
I groaned as heavy knocks assaulted my front door, I picked up the phone looking at the time. Who the hell shows up at someone's house at 4am?
Throwing on a sweater and sweats, I dragged myself to the front door, the cold hardwood floor seemingly repelling me from ever making any progress. I swung the door open, grumbling as my eyes were half open wondering who it was.
Jacob Black.
Mentally sighing, I invited him inside from the pouring rain, he seemed devastated.
He sat down after he changed as I made him some hot chocolate to comfort him.
"She chose him y/n, he came back and she chose him over me. She drove to Italy for that stupid bloodsucker." His cracking voice was more than enough for me to grasp his frustration and devastation.
"I dropped everything for her, I did everything for her y/n. And she still chose the guy that skipped town huh?" Laughing bitterly at the situation, I stared at his cup before handing it to him.
"Maybe if I was better than Edward I would've won this stupid fucking battle," his words escaping his clenched teeth. He was like me, we were jealous of someone, someone that seemed to win everything, someone that we were not. The words spoken to me by Embry were words I carried with me even as I was moping over the whole situation.
"Stop comparing yourself to him, Jacob. You're not Edward and you won't ever be him. You're so insistent on being better than Edward or being Edward that you can't even see what's in front of you. I was always here for you Jake, I was always here but you treated me like I was a second option. You left me in a heartbeat for her but you never had time to spend with me, not even five minutes, when you were with her," I too chuckled bitterly at the ironic situation, me and Jacob were similar in many ways.
"Learn to live your life, don't live it for her or because of her, learn how to live it like you want." Those words seemed to resonate deep within both of us. After finally speaking those words, I realized that I was ready to live my life as y/n, a citizen of the small city of Forks, and not vying to be Bella, the new girl to forks.
I stood up, putting on shoes hastily before grabbing the handle. I could sense Jacob's attempt to stop me and apologize for his treatment but I knew better.
"It's ok, I know you're gonna apologize. I'm not going to accept, I want the Jake that will care and treat everyone with the same importance that you had for Bella. Come to me when you're ready, but until then I hope you grow and learn how to live your life."
I paused again, one foot out of the door.
"I have someone important to apologize to, someone that didn't leave me in the blink of an eye."
I hurriedly shut the door behind me before running to the woods, my lungs burning and legs aching as I forced myself to my limit. I ran and ran, visions of the houses slowly turned to trees, the crunching leaves under my feet reminded me of the days we would all run through the woods.
My breathing became labored as I was reaching my breaking point but it was close, our place was close. Then, in my distant vision, I could see it. That one pine tree, seemingly normal to many, but to me, it held our memories. The initials only reassured my assumption as I knew that he would be here waiting. As I got closer to the tree, my legs gave out under me, sending me tumbling to the ground whilst tree branches scratched my arms and ripped a hole in my pants.
"EMBRY! EMBRY I'M HERE PLEASE!" I shouted into the dark forest, eyes tearing up once more as I pleaded.
"I LOVE YOU EMBRY CALL AND I'M SORRY I WAS TOO BLIND TO REALIZE IT!" I shouted once more before crumpling closer to the ground, my tears now fully flowing and hitting the dead leaves below.
Maybe I took too long, maybe he moved on, maybe I was too jealous of someone to even realize his love.
As sobs continued throughout my body, the hope of him ever coming was diminishing.
I was too late.
Suddenly, I felt a pair of strong but warm arms wrap around my waist and pulling me up.
"Shhh, it's ok I'm here now."
That voice, I looked up to see Embry's face which held a dorky grin. I threw my arms around him as sobs still left my body, the emotional rollercoaster was far too much for me to handle.
"I-i'm s-s-so sorry Embry, I was too focused on trying to be Bella that I-"
"I know, I know, I heard it all," shushing me as he rubbed circles on my back consoling me. After what felt like hours in his embrace, I finally calmed down and only tear stains remained.
I finally lifted my head to meet his eyes properly this time, he stared back with tender eyes.
"You finally learned how to live for you huh?" He asked, not expecting an answer to which I was oblivious.
Before I could respond, he pressed his lips to mine. I didn't try and fight it and melted into it instead.
I was blind to be jealous of Bella when I already had something that she fought to keep.
Smiling mentally, I wrapped my arms around his neck to deepen the kiss.

GF - Timestuck AU: The Power of Mabel ch.2
While fighting over a time machine so one twin can win a pig or the other can win the heart of a girl, Mabel is left stranded in a snowy forest with no time machine and no brother. Oops.
The BEAUTIFUL art pieces were done by @clownwry and @elishevart ! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! 😭❤️💋
ch.1 - ch.3
~~~~~~~~~~
Ford was way more nervous than he was letting on.
She had long, pretty brown hair, braces over her teeth, sneakers, a skirt, and a sweater that allowed the cold air to pass through it. Her cheeks were slightly chubby with youth and nosy, as well as her nose, due to the freezing weather. Her eyes matched her hair perfectly, and though they were clouded with fear and confusion, Ford swore he could see sparkling behind the clouds, sparkling that made itself well-known when she asked if she could make him a sweater or when she saw his hands.
She had long, pretty brown hair, braces over her teeth, sneakers, a skirt, and a sweater that allowed the cold air to pass through it. Her cheeks were slightly chubby with youth and nosy, as well as her nose, due to the freezing weather. Her eyes matched her hair perfectly, and though they were clouded with fear and confusion, Ford swore he could see sparkling behind the clouds, sparkling that made itself well-known when she asked if she could make him a sweater or when she saw his hands.
Ford would be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy Mabel’s company, but she was practically a stranger, and keeping a random girl in his house that was located in the middle of the woods was fishy and Ford couldn’t help but feel like it was illegal. But he couldn’t leave her out in the snow and send her on her way to find her home and family, so he decided to keep her warm or healthy, simply because it was the right thing to do.
But then she said she had no parents to call. Only a brother, who was lost, too. Ford can remember the old rule: If you’re lost, stay where you are until you are found. So he then decided that she could stay here until her brother found her, which should be by morning at the latest.
Still, he felt uneasy, so once Mabel was settled in front of the TV, Ford excused himself and went into the kitchen to make a phone call. There was only one man who would have better judgement in this situation than him.
The phone rang a few times. Ford checked his watch to make sure it was a reasonable time to call. It wasn’t Sunday, was it? But then the ringing stopped. “Howdy! This here Fiddleford McGucket.”
“Hey there, buddy.” Ford smiled to himself at hearing that cheerful voice. “How have you been?”
“Stanford Pines! Good t’hear from ya!” Fiddleford cheered. “M’just fine, just fine! How are ya?! Ya haven’t gotten eaten by monsters yet, have ya?” He laughed, making his old friend chuckle along.
“No no, I’m alright.” Ford almost brought up the reason he called, but then he remembered something very important to Fiddleford. “How are Emma-May and Tater?”
“OH! They’re doin’ great! We’re all very happy n’ doin’ well! Ya won’t believe how big Tate’s gotten since ya last saw him! He’s already crawlin’!”
“Wow, that's great to hear.” Ford sat in a chair at the kitchen table. “Has he said his first words yet?”
“No, not quite. Actually, he’s extremely quiet. Not a lot of baby-babble.” Fiddleford chuckled. “The doctor says that’s perfectly normal. Tate’s so smart, he’s reachin’ for specific colors n’ such, n’ ya can tell he’s thinkin’ a lot n’ knows what’s goin’ on, he just got nothin’ t’say.”
“I was very shy when I was young.” Ford commented casually. He didn't feel like mentioning why. “If Tate is anything like either of his parents he’s very intelligent.”
“Oh, he’s so much like both of us it’s scary. Ya know Emma-May, so clever n’ quiet n’ such. Tate’s got all that. But he already looks so much like me! But he’s got his mama’s hair! N’ Santy Claus brought ‘im this fun little fishin’ game where ya fish for plastic fish with a pole with a magnet on it, n’ he loves it! I can’t wait to take ‘im fishin’ when he’s big enough! Ya really outta give yourself a break n’ come down for a visit, he’d move to see his Uncle Ford again.”
Ford’s face felt hot. “Perhaps. Spring is when a lot of anomalies are active and breeding, so i would prefer not to miss that, but maybe I could visit for a weekend before that…”
“Well, no pressure, I won’t assume anythang until ya tell me to, just know there’s always a bed for ya here.”
“Thank you, Fiddleford. The same for you and your family. The clean air will do everyone some good.”
“Oh, I’m sure.” Fiddleford sighed happily and perked up. “So! Whatcha callin’ for? Not that I’m not happy just t’chat, but ya never call.”
Ford laughed and shrugged to himself. “I suppose I don’t. I’m sorry.”
“No need t’be sorry, Stanford, just wanna know what’s up.”
“Well, I was hoping to get your advice on something.”
“Shoot.”
“Um… well…” Ford rubbed the back of his neck, unsure how to tell him this. “I heard some unusual sounds outside today…”
“What kind of unusual sounds?”
“Cracks, like lightning. And some faint yelling.” Ford answered. “I thought it might be a tree branch or a new anomaly to catalogue, but when I opened the door a young girl was standing there in the snow with no coat.”
“Heavens! Is she alright?!”
“She’s okay, no frostbite. She was cold, but after sitting by the fire, drinking some hot chocolate, and changing into some dry clothes, she’s okay now.”
“Well, good.”
“So of course I brought her in. I tried to call her parents, she probably got lost playing…”
“Sure.”
“... but she says she doesn’t have any parents.”
“Oh.” Fiddleford sighed. “Oh. Now, wait, are ya sure she didn’t just say that so ya wouldn’t call?”
Ford chuckled and said, “I first thought that too, but she looked too sad to be lying.”
“Okay, I see. Does she got somebody ya can call?”
“She says she has a brother, but he was out there, too. So he is probably out there looking for her and therefore nowhere near a phone.”
“Fair enough, okay. So, I reckon y’all are waitin’ for him t’come ‘round.”
“Yup.”
“Well sounds to me like you’ve handled this all pretty well.” Fiddleford said confidently.
“You think so?” Ford asked. “I can’t help but feel like I’m doing something wrong. Like I’m missing something. Am I doing something wrong?”
“Nonsense, buddy, you’re doin’ great.” Fiddleford assured. “Look here, ya can’t just leave a young gurl out in the snow t’try t’find her way home...”
“I agree.”
“... so ya really got one option n’ that’s t’keep an eye on her n’ let her in as a guest. N’ ya tried t’call, but nothin’. The best thang ya can do right now is be there for this lil’lady n’ just be kind t’her. N’ if nobody comes for her by mornin’, why don’t ya go into town n’ see if anybody knows her, then they can help y’all out.”
Ford nodded, then remembered that his best friend couldn’t see it, so he said, “Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. Thank you, Fiddleford.”
“You’re welcome. N’ hey, are ya okay?” He asked seriously.
“Yes, yes I’m okay. I just want to make sure I do this right.”
“O’course. I understand. Ya want me t’come down there n’ give a hand?”
“No, that’s not necessary. I’m sure Mabel will find her brother in the morning.”
“Mabel, huh? Well, if y’all don’t, please call me. N’ even if ya do find her brother, call me. Keep me updated.”
“I will. Thank you, Fiddleford.”
“Anytime, Stanford.”
~~~~~~~~~~
When Mr. Ford gave Mabel the remote for the old TV and went into the kitchen, she decided to use her awesome detective skills to figure out what year it was. If it was before Grunkle Stan lived here and opened the Mystery Shack, she must be pretty far back in time. But she had no way of knowing if it was 1999 or 2005 or the 50s.
The TV was old, but so was Grunkle Stan’s in her time. So Mr. Ford could have had this TV for a long time and didn’t want to replace it.
Okay, so when was the TV made? Mabel didn’t know. Dipper would have known.
Okay, Grunkle Stan mentioned watching TV when he was a kid once or twice. So at least Mabel was when Stan was a kid, okay.
Mabel turned the TV on and it was in color. Okay, so she wasn’t too far back in time. But the TV was playing a commercial for clear skin. The picture was gritty and all the people in it had puffy hair and long socks and oh my god was that woman wearing legwarmers?! Mabel grinned at seeing her favorite fashion on TV, but then her face dropped. When was she?
She tapped her chin and tried to think of how to know the date without being suspicious. She could ask Mr. Ford, but that might be suspicious. Mabel decided to start flicking through channels to try to guess what year she was in based on what was airing. A lot of shows were about cowboys, space, or game shows. Huh. Okay.
All the TV shows were definitely older. Nothing her dad would watch from when he was a kid, so if Mabel had to guess by everyone’s crazy air, the cheesy TV shows, and the music occasionally playing, she was in the 70s.
Huh. Okay. But she needed an exact year. So Mabel turned off the TV, saw an old radio on a desk, and turned it on to listen.
“... cuz it’s cold doesn’t mean you can't boogie, folks! So grab someone you wanna get warm with, turn up the music, and get your bodies warm in the coolest way possible! Here’s Night Fever, by the Bee Gees!”
Mabel grinned at the disco music. Her personal favorite song from these guys was More Than a Woman, but Night Fever would do. For a moment Mabel forgot her mission, jumped off the couch and left the blanket behind, and in the over-sized gray t-shirt Mr. Ford gave her while her clothes were drying, she danced along to the music, singing the chorus since those were the only words she knew.
“When you reach out for me. Yeah, and the feelin' is right,
Then I get night fever, night fever. We know how to do it! Gimme that night fever, night fever. We know how to show it!”
Mabel laughed at herself as she spun around in her socks and tried to do the point-and-hype dance she didn’t know the name to, but everyone did it when a disco song played.
Little did she know that Ford had returned to check on her, and was smiling at her as she shook her hips and waved her hair around and had fun. He leaned against the doorway and planned to let her dance in peace, but when she did a spin and saw him, she grinned and took his hand. “C’mon, Mr. Ford, come dance with me!”
Ford chuckled and shook his head. “No, no! I can’t dance!”
“You got two legs that aren’t broken?”
“Yes.”
“Then you can dance! C’mon!” Mabel encouraged, let him go when they were both in the middle of the room, and she started to dance again. “Don’t make me dance alone!” She even pulled an evil move and gave him puppy eyes. Rude.
Ford smiled slyly at her and hesitantly copied her boogie moves. It was true that Ford never liked to dance, but there was no one around but Mabel, and though he had only known her for an hour or more, he was sure she would never make fun of him.
And he was right.
“Wow! Look at you, Mr. I-Can’t-Dance! Yeah!” Mabel hopped on the couch, standing, and took Ford’s hand. “Here, I’ll spin you!”
Ford laughed and allowed it, doing a single spin, but then scooping her in his arms to dip her and then let her down, making her laugh as they continued to dance.
“Alright alright, you crazy cats, that was Night Fever by the Bee Gees! It's a snowy day here in the heart of Oregon, with snow flurries coming in harder all night, but it should clear up by morning and be a fun day to go out and play! The date is January 26th, 1978 in case you gotta write a check or mail a thank you note to a friend or family member. I’m still writing letters for Christmas! We’ll be right back with some of your favorites after a word or two from our sponsors, so don’t go anywhere!”
Mabel stared at the radio. “Wow, 1978.” She breathed. Her parents were only kids right now, maybe only six or seven-years-old. Wow.
Ford chuckled. “I know, I’m still in the bad habit of writing ‘77.”
Mabel realized her mistake, but was grateful her host misunderstood her. “Me too.”
“Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for dinner. How about some ramen noodles?”
“Yes, please! Can we play a game after we eat?”
“Sure. I don’t have many board games, but I do have a deck of cards.”
“Do you know any card tricks?!”
“A few.” Ford admitted, wiggling his fingers. “There are some advantages to having more fingers than average.”
Mabel grinned up at him and followed him to the kitchen for dinner.

dialogue prompt #9: “Cheer up it's Christmas Eve, sweetheart”
pairing: jimin x reader
genre: christmas au, brother's best friend au, fluff, childhood friends to lovers
word count: 3,412 (oh no)
warnings: reader is a lil sad but nothing angsty tho
summary: christmas was always an eager wait. less for the tree decorations, family dinner and the fuss of toddlers. more for your childhood best friend who you kissed under a mistletoe years back.
a/n: ahhh!!! I'm not completely satisfied with how this turned out to be. the inspiration was from a few christmas themed fics I read here and the movie ‘It's Christmas, Eve’. anyway this was my attempt though it's nowhere near christmas time. one of my personal goals is to celebrate a christmas like the west, the snow, the fuss and the commotion ;-;. Also I lost sense of time and space and this turned out to be 3k ;-;
masterlist
“Cheer up it's christmas eve, sweetheart”, your mother chimes as she pours brown batter into little cupcake moulds.
You simply smile at her, the festive mood not really getting to you because of exhaustion. Uni was tough, and enjoying this Christmas when you know you have tons of essays due in a few days was hammering inside your brain every now and then.
“Is that chocolate?”, you ask, leaning your tired body on the counter where she is at work.
“And orange”, she smiles, turning around to preheat the oven.
“Where's Jin”. Though you hated the routinely flicks against your forehead, the absence of your big brother felt weird.
“He went with Jimin to get the Christmas tree”.
The mention of Jimin brings a smile to your face. His soft features and captivating grin filling your head. If there was one of the few things you enjoyed coming back to your hometown for holidays, it's chocolate cupcakes your mom bakes and Jimin.
His family are friends with yours after all. You, Jin and Jimin attended the same school until college and other priorities in life drift you apart. Though the bond must have rusted a bit, you can't deny the fact that you still have that crush which started somewhere in middle school, on a chritmas eve like this when he kissed your cheeks shyly under the mistletoe. Your friends and family, and even Jimin himself must have seen it nothing more than platonic, but you still find yourself relieving the moment in your head however crazy it may sound.
Standing up straight, you decide to fix your bed hair and complete the skincare routine before the said duo drops.
“Mrs. Y/L/n...”, Jimin softly kicks the back door. He is carrying one end of a huge fir, and your brother on the other end, grunting from the freezing snow outside.
“Oh dear place it right there”, you mother is quick to her feet helping the boys and doing her usual commentary on how well the tree looked.
Jimin looks more handsome than ever, especially with his nose and cheeks dusted in scarlet from the cold. He looks really huggable in his fluffy sweaters and red beanie. Jin is busy commanding around so you choose to sit back, a very typical sibling energy and the size of decoration boxes and the tree itself not really appetizing to your will to find any strength.
“Hey Y/n!”, Jimin stares back at your eyes in a split moment which has your lashes fluttering suddenly. You probably look like you are carrying a disease and right now you become very hyper aware of that.
“You alright? You look tired”, he comments. You feel his eyes carefully studying the black under your eyes and worrying his mind because that's what he is like. He cares about everyone and everything, has a heart so soft it hurts to even think about it.
“Jet lag...”, you say, “I'll be fine”. You shoot a little thumbs up on his way to reassure.
“Why didn't Jin get the tree earlier? It's Christmas in a few hours”, you dodge the focus around you and walk near in an attempt to closely examine the tree for no reason other than feeling Jimin’s eyes a little too long on you.
Your brother gets visibly annoyed seeing you start a very unnecessary talk. So he is completely obliged to shoot back with, “Because you were in charge of Christmas decorations this year but your lazy ass flew down here only yesterday”.
“You know I was busy with Uni!”
“Whatever”, he shrugs, getting back to the box of tree decorations. You feel a little bad seeing yourself not being helpful during a festive season. It felt like you were procrastinating on your responsibilities as always.
“Um...is there any way I can help?”, you ask softly, earning a mischievous grin from Jin and your mom fills in the answer.
“We need more baubles. Also I missed out gifts for Aerum and June, so maybe you can get them”. Now this was already tiring and you were not lying earlier either, the jet lag was still choking you alive. You wonder if the huge pile of stars and glitters beside your foot aren't enough but then maybe it's true because this is the largest fir you ever saw for Christmas in your house. And speaking of the five year old notorious duo, your cousins-- Aerum and June, you have no other option than to step out into the butt numbing cold and get something for the sake of not getting your brains eaten.
While you stand there doing these calculations, Jimin puts a two and two and immediately suggests to tag along with you.
“That'd be great! Thanks sweetie”, your mom chimes, her fine lines of face gathering around her eyes while she does so and you catch her throwing a wink to your side and you pretend you never saw that.
“Thank you Jimin”, you smile in all honesty while he reciprocates the same.
“No problem. I'll get my car. Will you be ready in an hour? I think you just woke up”
“Uh...yeah”, you fake a laugh, “Yes I'll be ready in an hour”
Jimin still lives here in your hometown, attends a community college nearby and his house is just a few steps away from your own. You remember how you had the same analogy in your mind as well. You like living here. You like Jimin’s company. The lake Park and the annual ice skating competition in December and the bookstores and coffee shops at the outskirts of the town. And you can't seem to clearly remember when and where that feeling started to become foreign. Maybe it was a teenage quirk to explore the world that you are now a three hour flight away from all of this. It wasn't a deep regret, but seeing Jimin, it almost felt like it. It felt like you betrayed him. Because he seemed to be keeping his word to this day.
This year, it's a few degrees lower than what it usually is and you find yourself chattering your teeth together as you walk to Jimin’s house.
His footsteps rush to get the door as soon as you ring the doorbell and he greets with the same wide grin as if he hasn't just saw you an hour ago.
“Let's go?”, he asks immediately, getting house keys from his coat pocket and locking the front door before stepping out making you confused.
“There's no one home? Where are your parents?”
“Oh well didn't Mrs. Y/L/n tell you?”, he studies your features and gets his response so he continues “They went to New York this year for Christmas. It's some elder people thing I think...so I'll be spending Christmas this year with your family”
“Really!?”, you chime, and then immediately notice a very childish jump you did with tiny fists and all, feeling a little embarrassed at yourself, “Ah... uh I mean that's great”.
“Yeah”, he giggles, sounding like a twelve year old who is still waiting for his growth spurt, “Get in the car it's freezing in here”.
Since it's been six odd months you've spoken to Jimin, you figured it would would be strange and awkward to be with him, but his demeanor states otherwise. He could effortlessly begin conversations and build momentum with you and by the time you are at a thrift store, he is aware of the little gist of student life and the dramatically exaggerated history research paper still due.
“What are you getting for the twins?”, he asks, seeing you checking out the kids toys section with absolutely no idea and that's exactly what you reply to him.
“How about this puzzle?”, he brings a big jigsaw to your glance and you figure it's a great thing to have their little brains engaged and give yourself time to breathe.
“It's perfect!”, you add, immediately placing it your cart with a few decors you picked up from earlier aisles.
Jimin places an extra pack of Christmas candies in the cart, and you send him a questionable look knowing it's his way of bribing the kids coming this evening. He puts too much effort into people's happiness, something you wish you were capable of as well.
The shopping went smooth. It was therapeutic to get hot chocolate with extra marshmallows afterwards like he insisted followed by that very cliche movie scene where one of them develops a creme moustache and the other notices and dabs it off.
You want this moment to linger a little longer, but your whole family arrives in less than two hours and the decorations were due. If Jin doesn't have you in the next thirty minutes he might as well eat all the cupcakes your mom is baking as revenge.
“I had a great time”, Jimin states as he stops the car in front of your house, stealing the words from your mouth and warmth hugs your cheeks immediately.
“Me too. It's been long since we spent time with each other”
You hear a lone sigh with white fogs coming out of his plump lips while he does so, as if he were suddenly sad when you mentioned that.
“Are you okay?”
His grips tightens around the steering, “I've missed you”, he says, eyes meeting slowly. And as if he was suddenly pulled back to earth he conjures another sentence to not sound so vulnerable.
“I uh... It's just--”
“I've missed you too”
Even with the gear box painstakingly blocking the way, you throw your upper half towards his body anyways and you find him hugging you back. His hugs still feel the same from years back; safe and warm and filled with love.
If it wasn't for the constant reminder that your brother is probably plotting a murder against you, you would've stayed much longer in his embrace. Maybe the hug was a big straightforward for a bond still gradually blooming, but it didn't feel weird at all and when you pull back he is smiling down at you.
“I thought you two lovebirds flew off”, a very annoyed Jin states from above you. He is balancing himself on a chair to attach the mistletoe to the ceiling.
“Sorry hyung”, Jimin says. And somehow now you are getting super aware of the way your family is low key shipping you both. Not that it's an irritating thing of course though you seem to act like it. But you have no idea what's going on with Jimin, what if he said he missed you as your childhood friend? It's a lot difficult to segregate his priority of giving affection. He seems to be giving justice in terms of care for every living being he knows.
“The circus is on its way so I hope you both hurry with putting up everything together”, the voice above states, now lowering himself to ground after putting up the twig.
Three of you giggle at the mention of your family as a circus. Well in a way it definitely was. You have a bunch if uncles who crack awful jokes, a trait Jin himself as picked up from a tender age of ten. Then their wives and kids who share certainly the same braincells in comprehending things. You bet they'll ask you again about your major and your dating history once they walk in through that door amidst clearly stating everytime that you are a history major and yes still very single.
In the hallway there is a half decorated tree. A thread of fairly lights wrapped around the green and very few baubles hanging here and there.
“I'll put up the star and join you”, Jimin says, digging out a golden star from the carton. Though now he doesn't know why it was a good idea for him to announce that when both of you were almost the same height. He is just a few centimeters taller than you and the top of the fir is still very much way above your heads.
So with a chuckle you both figure Jin has to do it.
“This is your final year right?”, Jimin asks stepping closer to you. He seemed nervous about something. Or was it anxious?
“Yeah...you?”
“Yeah...”, his sweet tone was drawn almost like a whisper and you sense you should ask him further about what's wrong. But before you had to deal with a starter he continues,
“Are you planning to work in Chicago as well?”
“Sweetheart help me clean up the kitchen please”, your hear your mom's voice overpowering through the house. Which is good. Because you don't know what you are supposed to answer. It was as if he was almost hopeful that you'll choose your hometown all over again. But you aren't sure. So you take the opportunity to step away from the situation excusing yourself.
And while you are clearing the blobs of batter stuck on the counter, your mind is a haywire. What are you going to do? Though you know your whole family wants you to stay, it's still a foggy place to be in. Four years apart in another city as a college student has not provided much, except caffeine addiction and sleepless nights. Things were not even as fun as everyone told you.
A few steps away Jimin silently prays that you stay, because he had truly missed you. Even though you have outgrown from the eighteen year old shell as he had known, he finds himself actively choosing to be with you. Even when other things in life occupies his mind, there's an element of it which goes back to you.
“They are here!”. You groan silently, while your parents are throwing their hands in air, giggles and chatter fills in as your uncles and aunts and the taunting toddlers welcome themselves in.
“Y/n! You have grown so much!”, the older aunt comments, and you supply a manufactured smile to tag along. Other comments follow by soon, about how tired you are, gasps about not having a partner and future plans, all of which are not completely answerable at the moment but you manage to get through them all and finally excusing yourself back to the garage convincing there are more decor supplies in there.
Families are nice. They make festivals brighter and lives less lonely. But yours was just hard sometimes. Not that you completely loathed the people now fueling themselves off the cup cakes your mom bakes, you were just merely lost, still yet to come up with an answer to what your stance is after graduation.
“Hey...”. Jimin has joined you now which you notice feeling a warmth against your shoulder when he sits, with an extra scraf knowing the garage is still comparatively chilly than the house, “you okay?”.
“Yeah...I was just...thinking”
“Is this about earlier? I'm sorry if I made you anxious”, he quickly adds.
“No!...I mean yeah but, it's high time I find a ground with this. What are your plans?”
“I was thinking about teaching at Jefferson High”, he shifts rather uncomfortably. He is talking of the school in your town, your school, where you have lots of memories with Jimin, “You know...like we said during Junior year in high school?”
“I'm sorry Jimin”, you feel the guilt inside you growing, “I never kept my promises”.
“Hey...that's okay! Everyone changes. I just want you to be happy. I...I hope you are happy Y/n”, he reassures, taking your hand from your side and squeezing it between his soft palms.
“I don't know about that either...”
As much as you hated showcasing vulnerability to another person, you know Jimin is an exception. You had cried to him about everything during school days and he had never invalidated a single thing, even when you were visibly dramatic over a downpour during a family picnic when you were five.
Jimin is frozen on his seat as if he can't find the words. He was never good with words so instead he hugs you, a little longer than the last time till he is sure you have calmed down. Grateful for not ending up crying, you smile up at him and remind yourselves to get back inside to avoid suspicion, especially from the kids who take humiliating people as an important milestone to achieve.
When you enter back inside and get immediately surrounded by a million questions and chores thrown at you, you find your answer. Maybe your heart belongs back to everything your younger self had blabbered about. Not to mention, this fairly good reunion with your crush feels nice, though, he might still see it as platonic. Maybe he makes things less daunting.
By the way Jimin was owning everyone's heart in the house, it felt like he was family. Well in a way he is. But to put more clarity, he bought things together and his actions bought so much peace and love within everyone. Even the notorious twins listen carefully to him and help the uncles and aunts in the kitchen.
He is again by your side, two cupcakes rests on his palms and you take it with a silent ‘thanks’.
Seeing no signs of him beginning a talk now, you think of coming up with something. Maybe a memoir from today? Or about how absolutely handsome he looks right now? Wait.
“They are under the kissing twig!”, Aerum screams like the house caught in fire, her sibling joining by the side to provoke the habit even more.
“It's called a mistletoe Aerum”, your aunt corrects before pasting a smug across her lips.
Nothing changed. They are the same people. Hyping you and Jimin to kiss just like when you were thirteen. If the factor of time is removed, this is the exact night. Both of you cemented to the flooring as if you forgot to exist.
Both of your necks snap together to the mistletoe Jin had attached to the ceiling earlier. And when you lower your gaze back, face gawks at each other eye to eye. It's the same. He has that blush, the shyness from years ago. It's going to be platonic. Yet again. And this moment will only ever be romantic and flowery in your head.
June was the first to squeak, and Aerum shuts her eyes the moment Jimin is leaning his mouth towards your lips. It was difficult to relax under the stares of many, but when he ghosts his mouth over your again and leans in for a second kiss, you are fixated on him. Hands holding each other, the plump of his lips so soft it felt like you were biting into a fluff of cloud.
Maybe he'll have an explanation to your family for this. Not like anyone in the audience was disappointed. Your mother was almost in tears? And Jin looked hardly surprised with any of this. As if it was all swell according to his plans.
“You both are so cute”, one of the aunts awes and your mother is quick by her side, completely agreeing to it.
“Jimin...”, you return your gaze to the equally flustered man who just kissed you and he sounded almost breathless,
“I'm sorry if this was wrong it ju--”
“I like you”, you immediately snap in and his face is a void for an instant. Fully processing the words, his eyes disappear when he grins, “I like you too...a lot”.
“Are you two dating?”, the twins haven't dropped the case yet, running to your feet to help their curious brains.
“Yes...”, Jimin responds, looking up at you for a reassurance, which you quickly supply with a nod, “Yes we are dating”.
When the kids are satisfied they go away snickering to themselves.
“I decided to stay”, you say.
“Really!?”, his disbelief was comical, yet wholesome considering how much he wished for this, “I'm...I'm so happy!”.
Giggling at him, this time you lean forward and peck the corner of his lips.
“You lovebirds better get a room”, Jin announces and thankfully not loud enough to catch everyone else's attention.
Usually Jin expects a punch to his arms from his sister, but he sees how grateful you are for his mistletoe decor. He leaves the couple, satisfied that there won't be any more ranting about how much Jimin likes you.
Thank you so much for reading!! ♡♡

What if RivaMika becomes canon through the official character guidebook/encyclopedia?
Okay. So, before I delve into this, I’d just like to address the news regarding the Eren and Mikasa love comedy segment that will be released in a magazine on June 5.
On the EreMika love comedy thing, I think it will be meant as something humorous and light-hearted. I don't think that it's going to be meant as something serious. After all, Eren is already dead. And Mikasa's grief was greatly emphasized. So, it's probably going to be some AU/non-canon skit. I did see an illustration featuring cabin-dream Eren and Mikasa, though. (But I’m not sure if it’s a preview from the Da Vinci magazine, the caption was not really clear on that.) So, these love comedy moments may be meant to take place in the "dream world" that was shown in Chapter 138. But even if that were the case, the fact remains that Eren is dead, and Mikasa now lives her life without him.
I also did a little digging and learned that it will be published by a Japanese magazine called Da Vinci.
And as far as I know, all past official character guidebooks and encyclopedias have been published by Kodansha. So, I'm not sure about the "canon-ness" of the Da Vinci contents. I also tried to look for information that says that Isayama-sensei himself is the source, but I can't find any. So... yeah.
I also checked and learned that Da Vinci is published by Kadokawa Future Publishing and not by Kodansha. My digging also confirmed that the two are completely separate and different publishing companies. So... you know... Hahaha.
In any case, I think that the Da Vinci magazine contents are separate and distinct from the final character guidebook which will be released alongside the reprint with the additional pages. Also, regarding the character guide that Da Vinci will include, I don't think that it will be as complete and as comprehensive as the OFFICIAL guidebook which will be released.
(So, there's still a chance for RivaMika to become canon in the OFFICIAL guidebook. Hihi.)

Okay. So, moving forward…
I read that a final character book will be published on June 9 - which is the same day that the reprint with the additional pages will be released.
Regarding this character book, I can't help but think that even if RivaMika becoming canon won't be explicitly shown in the additional pages, it could be officially confirmed as canon through the contents of the character book.
Since the series has already ended, we're probably going to get post-war statistics and information about the characters.
Concerning this, my RM-shipping mind couldn't help but think about what Levi and Mikasa's statistics and info would look like. (Hehehe.) I imagine that it would be something like this:
Mikasa Ackerman
Status: Alive
Known Family:
Mother
Father
Eren Yeager (Adoptive Brother)
Grisha Yeager (Adoptive Father)
Carla Yeager (Adoptive Mother)
Levi Ackerman (Husband)

Many years after the war, Mikasa and Levi reconnected and deepened their bond!
When Levi visited Paradis Island three (3) years after the war, he and Mikasa met again. During their reunion, the pair recalled their past missions and talked about how they've been coping since the war ended. From that day onwards, Levi and Mikasa began to keep in touch more frequently. A stronger and deeper bond grew which eventually led to marriage!

Learned more about her Ackerman heritage with the help of the Paradis Island Royal Archives and Marleyan Historical Records.
During the time they became closer, Levi and Mikasa decided to dig deeper into their Ackerman heritage. Research had revealed that she and Levi hail from one common ancestor who lived even before the Walls on the Island were built.
Attempts to create an accurately detailed family tree proved difficult due to their respective family lines being separated from each other by several generations of ascendants from several family branches.
Mikasa: I knew that we weren't closely related, but I never thought that our clan was this large.
Levi: Tch. With how distant our relation is, we might as well not be related.
Mikasa: But we're related by marriage, captain.
Levi: I know that, brat. And stop calling me 'captain'. I'm your husband now.
Mikasa: Only if you stop calling me 'brat'. I'm your wife now.
Hahaha. Please forgive me. I couldn't help but indulge my RivaMika dreams and fantasies.

Anyway, in the article I read, there was also a mention of a new character.
If there really will be a new character, who could it be? Maybe... the child of a certain couple of post-Rumbling survivors? Perhaps this character had already made a brief cameo in the anime?

Maybe it's a possible Ackerbaby attending a private school in Marley or Paradis? 👀 Hahaha.

Final Note: This is just a very fanciful hope of mine. I admit that I'm new to the fandom, but I became invested rather quickly. Haha. In any case, I think that this is certainly a possibility. The probability of it is another matter entirely. But it's still possible, though. Hahaha.
On a more serious note, I'm glad that I joined the RM fandom. The community is really fun and open-minded!
