My very unorganized thoughts on S2 of Arcane but only about Viktor

Alright I finally had time to think and write everything down so here we go. I want to preface that I have been weary about this season ever since I watched the act 1 leaks. Mainly because it was very clear he was never going to be a machine, and they didn't give him enough screen time to develop his motivations into ACT 3 Viktor being convincing enough

LET'S START WITH THE FALSE PROPHET VIKTOR

Alright so he has about 11 minutes ish of screentime. Aside from the glaring issue of Jayce reviving him and not destroying the hexcore, taking away agency from a disabled character. It was clearly a false prophet situation, but it was so fucking confusing on whether he could feel like a regular human, if he was under the Hexcore's control which makes the agency issue worse or just jaded. He all of a sudden starts speaking like he's reading Deuteronomy passages ?? We don't know for sure if he's aware that he's basically creating a hive mind now, did he start his plans of making everyone into one right here? Sky seems to encourage him to do this, what does she know about it since shes been in the hexcore ALONE for a little longer? (writers didnt confirm whether it was the real her or not) . Act 1 Viktor's issues are mostly about agency, and a seeming full abandonment of his identity as a scientist, his personality does a full 180. He doesn’t seem to question that the object that revived him and killed Sky is giving him healing powers, but he’s angry at Jayce so we have no clue if he’s being controlled or not.

The show doesn't seem to care to spend time with him bc Isha and Ambessa I guess.

Anyways lets move on to not even act 2, but ep 6, his only episode in this act.

I had huge gripes with this episode, mainly because whatever the fuck was going on with Viktor trying to "keep" Vander's humanity, when he clearly was taking it away from everyone he touched, does he actually believe what he's saying or is he under the Hexcore's control still?. Obviously the glaring issues of Sky being there without any actual input, they're cosmic friends I guess but with very generic lines, and the fandom has to fill in the blanks with whatever Amanda Overton feels like saying about Sky in the moment(if we don't see it in the show I don't take it as her development, sorry). So Viktor builds Colloidal silver drinking Joshua tree and ppl think it's fucking Eden, Jinx calls him a Machine Herald when there's NO SIGN OF MACHINERY JUST PURPLE MAGICAL METAL LOOKING FLESH. We get a whole ass different realm with no explanation other than, oh yeah Viktor is inside there. Jayce comes in and almost kills him. The only option there is at this point is for Singed to start his MH era. The choice of becoming MH is nonexistent now, other people have to jumpstart things for him. I know some people interprete this commune as Viktor achieving his dreams, thinking he was being himself, that he was in paradise with Sky and.. that wasn’t the case for me.. it was extremely sinister. Worst part of this Act, is that MH was seemingly a damn trial experiment for Orianna.

BONUS:

So it seems that Christian Linke has confirmed Sky was the hexcore using its influence to manipulate viktor into the glorious evolution. He said it was meant to be as a misdirect. So to everyone who got dunked on here for “wanting to be spoonfed” or “not reading into it deep enough” for thinking he was being mind controlled, you were right about it being the hexcore. Viktor has been confirmed to have no agency until episode 9 I guess. He also mentioned Viktor’s goal was getting the most power/influence… we never saw a fucking glimpse of this in season one I’m sorry.

ACT 3

First awful problem here is obviously Singed having to jumpstart things. Viktor is aware for his choice of whatever is happening with the egg thing. Yet....there's still no sign of machinery. We get a scene where Sky fucking dies again, he refers to her as Ms Young, which im guessing is a parallel to the other time he dismissed her in S1. But of course we get the double fridging in the show, cuz making female characters just for the sake of advancing her crush's plot line is sooo amazing. Here lies sky, the character who is barely a character. Well after that we get the sequence of his transformation and we get that butt ugly mask. His personality does another huge change again. So we know the hexcore is not influencing him anymore as the hexcore completed its goal of the glorious evolution.. so I guess viktor really does think this is the right way?

A huge issue I have again, is the lack of agency. In this particular scene Jayce goes "My partner died in this room" yeah..Viktor didn't fully choose to become this right? it all started with Jayce using the hexcore on him, it’s been manipulating him the whole ass season…Kinda wish there was some sort of acknowledgement from Jayce that he’s basically the catalyst of this.

He gets his laser because...fanservice. There's no way he went all the way to the lab and magically attached it to himself just to cut off a wall. He keeps going on that choice is false, but a few minutes before he said he’d evolve all of those willing?

In the cosmos, beautiful sequence. I don’t love Jayce’s dialogue choices(about his disease) here and then it all being about viktor hating himself.. since the hexcore was leading to all of this, his motivation for it all being self hatred feels a bit eh. The sequence is beautiful and Jayce and Viktor destroying the anomaly with the rune shard is nice, that part was cute. But then they kinda disappear and we only know that viktor is alive so far, no clue about Jayce. The sequence is touching towards the end and I’m a sucker for characters finding each other in every timeline/universe but it can’t make up for all the other things that are bothering me. This seems to be the one time Viktor has some sort of agency I guess.

Then obviously the worst part that will bother me forever. The thing that made me almost slam my laptop shut

This retcon is just awful I shouldn’t even have to say why, it makes things fucking weird and it’s frankly stupid. Also viktor can’t rock a beard like that.

Anyways this is very disorganized, fuck you riot I felt like an insane former this whole time but I was right.

aiura mikoto analysis!!

i feel that theres a big lack of miko analyses in this world and its bc ppl usually ignore or justify all her character flaws bc they js wanna see her as “the better teruhashi”, so here i am to right the world and attempt 2 do an in-depth analysis on miko!! pls forgive if im missing things, i will edit this as i get a better understanding of her character. and yes i mostly focus on her relationship with saiki soz abt that :p (this is NOT a saiura post tho and ull be disappointed if u go in thinking that)

aiura mikoto is a kindhearted and mostly selfless character who goes out of her way to help ppl, usually for no reason other than she cares, and shes willing to put herself in danger for the sake of others. shes blunt and knows the value of herself and her powers- though this can go a bit too far at times…

she plays the role of kokomis love rival which makes sense since her genuine desire to help others and expect no personal gain and her upfront and honest attitude sharply contrasts kokomis ingenuity and tendency to be kind to others for personal gain (at least as far as she believes)

miko is honest to a fault, blurting out whatever she thinks, while kokomi speaks carefully to curate her image. miko has a tendency to act first and think later, while kokomi thinks first and acts in a crafted way that aligns with her goals.

and they also have things in common like both being very self-sacrificial and being kind to others at their own expense, but again kokomi does this more out of desperation for validation while miko does it out of genuine kindness

their crushes on saiki r also a bit similar, ill talk abt this more but aiura goes into her crush not bc she genuinely has feelings for saiki but bc she believes hes her soulmate and so she makes up a personality for him that matches her desires while kokomi goes into her crush not bc she was actually attracted to him but bc she was confused abt her resentment towards him and wanted him to be infatuated with her. tho, we get to see teruhashi develop past and acknowledge this while aiuras misunderstandings r consistent until the end

then theres the chapter where they switch styles and we see how their typical selfish vs selfless bit can also be reversed in ways bc the main reason for their differences is that miko is so blunt and open while kokomi hides her feelings, bc although we do see kokomi thinking badly abt miko, shes never anything but kind to her aloud while miko despite thinking so highly of kokomi, ends up being the 1 who does something to directly affect kokomi negatively

its a little hard to tell whats going in this scene but by my pov it seems like the 1st part is what saiki wanted miko to tell kokomi, with how serious it is and how thats the main focus b4 we go into kokomis own thoughts and saikis reactions, and so the 2nd thing is NOT a part of saikis objective and is miko trying to take advantage of the situation bc its her going on and on in the background while the focus has already changed. by this point kokomi has already begun to move on from her jealousy and the little freakout she had, while miko is stuck in her jealousy and seeing kokomi as "the final boss" and trying to change kokomis feelings. tho her feelings r much milder than kokomis ever were, her approach is blunt and an attempt to effect kokomi while kokomis was quiet and would only affect herself. this is why their rivalry is so important, they represent the "good" and the "bad" that the other doesnt have

as for mikos relationship with kusuo, they have a good bond thats highlighted pretty immediately when they meet and they work so well together to keep chiyo safe. bc of this, hes able to trust her (and toritsuka) to help him out with things involving his powers that at this time he cant trust any1 else for

the chapter with meras dad has them clashing a lot, but it does end up working out. the chapter highlights mikos stubborn and reckless nature clashing with saikis pessimism and tendency to refuse to look past the badness of a situation

mikos intentions r entirely selfless, but her reaction here is stubborn and unreasonable :p saiki was also not entirely reasonable, and this shows their opposite values that clash so much yet come together in the end to get the best outcome for mera. in this moment tho, it feels hurtful that saiki genuinely confides in her his hesitations and concerns for others and specifically meras health after something miko did ended up hurting her and miko responds like this and only rethinks when saiki leaves. in the end she does show that shes thought abt what saiki says, so its not a “half-hearted attempt” anymore and she goes into it knowing itll be okay bc she saw that it will

but despite this, miko doesnt learn her lesson abt recklessly using her powers nor does she think past her misunderstandings and realize saiki does care abt ppl, she still moves past this believing she was right the whole time and saiki is unreasonable and selfish. imo these chapters were a chance for them to have a way better understanding of each other especially since saiki opening up to her abt his hesitations was such a rare moment but unfortunately she didnt understand and never rlly ended up doing so beyond having a doki doki moment abt saiki caring abt her after she was the one he had to save from the consequences of her actions

tho these chapters highlight how off her perception of him is their relationship is still furthered by them bc of how wonderfully they worked together even when they werent getting along, saiki clearly trusts her a lot since this ends with him asking her to help him stop the volcanic eruption

however when it comes to romance... for all my love for miko, im never ever gonna ship saiki with someone who tried to sexually assault him :p n yes, ik its a gag manga, thats not relevant :p if ppl can like and understand toritsukas character without shipping him with ppl he sexually harassed, i can do the same with miko!!

she was genuinely surprised when he caught her here which tells me despite knowing abt his powers she didnt think he would catch her, so if he were powerless or otherwise hadnt caught her she wouldve simply sa him here. ive seen some ppl say "she realized he wasnt into it after this so shes very respectful of his boundaries" and im kinda baffled at that interpretation :p its not a flex that she realized he didnt wanna be sexually assaulted. idk guys maybe sexually assault is js generally bad??? besides, even beyond the fact this shouldnt have to be an established boundary in the 1st place, it seems way less likely that she understood a boundary here and more likely that she js realized that strategy wouldnt work on him bc of his powers :p

the one where she undresses in his bed is more of a genuine misunderstanding but it still shows how badly she misunderstands him. she ignored most of his message and only read the part she wanted and expected and had clearly been waiting for, and immediately jumped into his bed and took her clothes off, ending up in him almost kicking her out

despite these situations where he clearly expresses disdain at the idea of sexuality, this misunderstanding of hers is consistent throughout her character :p the overwhelming evidence to the contrary never makes her stop assuming that he secretly wants it or smth

i think despite being into other men, she put a lot of stake in her idea of soulmates :p she scryed it and transferred schools to find him after all, and she has a lot of trust in her own self and power, so i think she made a lot of untrue assumptions abt soulmates and how perfect they are and thought she and saiki would immediately click and get along and thered be 0 incompatibilities at all- as if finding her soulmate will fulfill all her romantic n sexual desires. this is why she makes 0 effort to build a romantic connection between them b4 declaring them soulmates and lovers, several times claiming theyre already dating, she assumed itd already exist. therefore she thinks that since SHE is very sexual, her soulmate must be as well. they seem to have nothing in common besides powers and the drive to help others which she isnt aware of, especially in what they want in life and from a partner, which i think is another reason she decided early on based on no evidence that hes a very sexual sadist and latched onto the idea, unable to believe anything else despite all evidence otherwise, for the entire show. 

shes obviously wrong. shes js too fixated on her own desires and expectations to realize that.

she originally claimed to have “fallen in love” with saiki only after seeing his powers and deciding that his mild sassiness was somehow indicative of sadism or sexuality. in the same breath she expresses disappointment in who her soulmate is and doesnt like his personality, so its pretty clear she cooked that up so she could have something to latch onto. from that point forward, i dont remember her showing attraction to anything abt saiki beyond his powers and the sadism/sexuality she misunderstood.

miko deserves some1 she doesnt feel the need to project onto js to feel like her desires r being fulfilled, and saiki deserves some1 who doesnt continuously expect from him what he doesnt want to give and has expressed that.

the thing is they have WAY better chemistry when she ISNT trying to force romance or sexuality into their relationship and she tends to misunderstand every platonic situation with him as that so it makes it a bit hard to see past her misunderstandings and see their friendship through it

at the very end of volcano arc she ALMOST ruins the moment by misunderstanding the situation as romantic and asking to kiss him but the hug she ends up giving him after is much sweeter and more emotionally impactful. its ofc not wrong for her to ask honest questions, im not saying she was wrong for it and its also not wrong 4 her to want to kiss him in that moment, but it does show her inability to read him and the situation and how this limits the chemistry between them. her stubborn nature still came out here when instead of simply accepting the “no” she said “AT LEAST let me give u a hug then” as if he owes at least something to her, but i dont fault her for this bc they both def needed and deserved a hug in that moment. saiki himself has also generally never been averse to platonic physical touch, often letting nendo or toritsuka etc to touch him without protest so this isnt any kind of boundary being broken. funnily, miko is the only person i remember him refusing to let touch him like him making her sit on the other side of the table and teleporting away from a hug but that seems to have changed by the end, or at the very least hell allow it from her in certain situations

miko is overall a good and genuine person, most notably how despite her jealousies of kokomi she still admires her so much, her defenses of kumi who was being bullied in a clothing shop, her expressing she doesnt mind helping kusuo for nothing in return (despite saying this immediately after implying she still wanted a favor after he didnt want to have sex with her, honestly not sure abt this part), and her mostly genuine intentions with her clients

•ponys got pneumonia a couple of times before and after this poi t, once as a baby, twice as a teen, he WILL get it in the future, hes a sick guy what can we say

•part of the reason y everyone in the gang is so protective of pony is BC he was pretty sick as a baby, ponys had 2 near death experiences and THAT was one of em.

•imma b frank n tell yall that they havent rlly went to the hospital for it before, each time pony got it, it was mild and even then they didnt know it was pneumonia SPECIFICALLY, just that he was pretty sick

•when he “got it” after dallys death n such, what caused it was being in that church for so long w all the dust, mold, shitty air, etc etc. he had bacterial pneumonia and its not like it just POPPED up one day, he was sick and just ignored it w pills n such to keep on pushin.

•w this pneumonia however, it was just flat out thee worst hes ever had it and ever will have it, the other times were more manageable while this time, combined w pony being very hallucinative, they feared pony was gonna die and thats y soda stayed at ponys side, scared he was gonna go out alone

•they knew it wasnt no regular ass sickness when ponys lips and fingernails started lookin blueish, im not kidding they thought ole ponyfella was gonna have to b put DOWN

•smoking can make it rlly hard for u to rlly clear ur airways, so ik ponys coughs were WET, he could cough as hard as he wants, hes done for either way (if u wanna hc him w asthma as well, it sounded like he was genuinely struggling to breath, he was wheezing loud and couldnt take deep breaths, just drinking was hell for him

•the type of pneumonia pony got is contagious for like 48 hours, he absolutely got a few ppl sick as well, maybe not as bad, but it was still there for sure, soda most def got sick but he was just glad ponys doin better while pony felt bad

•darry stuck by pponys side but i love thinking he felt a lil guilty for what happened to pony so he can only do it for so long before feeling like shit, he does make his soup and gives pony a lot of orange juice so he still feels a lil helpful

•bc bacterial pneumonia has symptoms that rlly do require medical attention, when pony was able to gain so semblance of consciousness in between his bouts of confusion he would refuse to go. he doesnt like hospitals and mumbled about the social worker finding that put and taking him away but darry and soda for the first time in forever didnt gaf about that, just wanted pony alive damn it!!

•funnily enough as much as he fought against it, pony doesnt remember it, but instead they just called a doctor to come over and take a look at the guy. he probably just thinks of it as a delusion or something, but he didnt rlly care that much to ask, cause a week and a half later he was feelin better

•they didnt see each other for MONTHS after pony got sick bc curly still had the 6 months to serve, tim told curly what was happening w pony but he focused more so on the fact that his 2 friends instead if him being sick which honestly, yea i get.

I'm pretty reluctant to reveal that part of me to others bc the ppl around who don't really take that stuff seriously or just see it as a nuisance. Aw man, me too. I still remember the first time I really sat down with my mom and discussed my anxiety with her and explaining how getting on medication was helpful. I knew that if I told her when I was younger, she wouldn't have taken it seriously or just hoped it would go away on its own somehow -- it was really up to me to pursue treatment as an adult.

Invisible illnesses can be difficult for others to imagine and understand. It was a little... "easier" for my mom to understand when she saw firsthand before & after of my panic attacks vs management via medication; it sucks that that's what she needed to really be empathetic, but that's how people are sometimes.

Anyway.

Warden: I don't think he'd know what to do...! Deer in the headlights. If MC can muster up the strength to ask him to fetch something, he'll provide it in a heartbeat. Or heck, best case scenario, give him a list of what he can do next time lollll. He wouldn't understand at all, but he'd be caring and want to help.

Griffin: Has a better understanding of anxiety and is interested in discussing preventative measures; how can she ensure MC is able to minimize situations that panic attacks? He'll find all the ways. Healthcare, therapy, all of it will be researched and organized for MC if MC permits it. Griffin will happily make all the phonecalls, too.

Mia: lol she kinda panics in tandem. Er, sympathy panic? Like how someone might experience the same symptoms when their partner is pregnant. 😂😂😂 She'd be Very Worried and checking on MC for the rest of the day, even well afterwards. Particularly loving and coddly once the panic attack has passed.

Dart: He will offer a hug and a calm conversation about how MC is feeling. (It's very nice.)

Jade: As someone with anxiety also, she knows all the anxiety hacks. Want to bite into a lemon? Do breathing exercises together (like in the game)?? Or do a 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique?? She'll find something that works for you.

Awww thank you ♥️ It does get pretty lonely sometimes when the community is small, I wouldn't say it's the sole reason to get demotivated by that fact. I'll still draw or yap about FJ whenever I want, shamelessly too. 😂 I don't particularly care that it spawns hate or makes people uncomfortable. I get quitting as AoT has long finished so it's natural that the fandom fizzle out especially so if its for ships/characters that are less popular. I also encourage people to actively interact with each other! Go talk to people @ bsky/X. Make silly headcanon posts, polls, anything to make the fandom alive! As for the haters part, unfortunately it can be a strong deterrent from encouraging ppl to make content. I don't blame them for leaving tbh. It is mentally exhausting and especially so if you're in small communities which means having to deal with it alone.

Ok to answer the first part of your question: Canon Jean never actually says who he loves more, so I don’t think anyone can ever give a definite answer in regards to canon. Just a bite sized explanation on what I think of RJ and FJ:

Jean admired Reiner a lot during their cadet days, like most of the 104th. Reiner was that strong, dependable guy who everyone looked up to. So when the betrayal happened, Jean was completely appalled and it probably hit him even harder when he found out the full details later. In Shiganshina, like Connie and Sasha, he was struggling to accept that they have to end Reiner but ultimately learn that he has to. But by Reiner's luck, they failed. When presented with the opportunity to argue for Reiner's life, Jean took his chance. You could argue he was arguing for science and stuff. I chose to see it as that AND Jean trying to save his ex comrade life despite feeling betrayed.

Still, after everything, Jean managed to push those feelings aside to stop the Rumbling. He even saved Reiner multiple times. People argued that it’s just because they couldn’t afford to lose Reiner, which is fair, but Jean didn’t have to give him that pep talk mid-battle, risking his own life. Then there’s that banter between them near the end. Some people see it as joking around and getting comfortable with each other again. I have seen others taking it as serious insults. Personally, I think it shows they’ve reached a point where they can move past the betrayal and just be themselves again.

Now with Floch, he and Jean started out in pretty similar places, but then they were hit by their own traumatic event except they took completely opposite paths. Floch went full extremist, while Jean tried to stick to his morals. Jean was the only person we saw in canon who actually “comforted” Floch or is friendly with him judging by how Floch stuck to him during pre ceremony. Most of their interactions later on is of Floch leaving Jean speechless with his arguments because, as radical as they were, there was some logic to them and that spoke to Jean the practical guy. Jean understood Floch and how he came to be what he is.

I’m sure Jean was super disappointed and disgusted with what Floch did during the Rumbling, but he never wanted him to die! (People need to stop saying that!!) And it says a lot that Jean stayed by Floch’s side as he died, something none of the other Paradis alliances (except Hange) did. In the og manga, he was also seen stopping Floch from bleeding out. I also just realized that Jean showed sadness and was not shocked upon realizing it was Floch who was shot. That shows that Jean still cared about Floch, despite it all.

So, who did Jean love more?

Honestly, I don’t think it’s a matter of “more.” It’s about the different ways he cared for both of them. He forgave Reiner and respected him as a comrade again. With Floch, it was more about empathy and understanding, even if they ended up on opposite sides.

Jean trusted Reiner again.

Jean understood Floch.

Both mattered to him, just in different ways.

Also, I want to point out that even though I used canon events to explain my thoughts, it’s still not canon! Different people interpret these moments differently. In the end, it’s all a figment of our minds. 🙂

1. if anything ive seen a few theories of kazui possibly revealing himself to be a two faced manipulator of sorts due to his self proclaimed liarness…. like ‘ohh u cant trust what he says he cld be trying to make himself look pitiable to the audience to get voted inno’ sort of theories which is. no he wont do that???

is he a liar? to a degree yes—liar not in the sense that what he says are direct falsities, but more like hes built much of his character to constantly disguise his true intentions/feelings as a defense mechanism. the lies he says are less of words from a schemer and more of redirections from someone who is, all in all, an insecure adult scared of what will happen if he isnt able to meet peoples expectations of him

as much as he calls himself a liar hes mad honest about where he thinks his capabilities lie, which is to say he doesnt believe in his capabilities at all lol. when amane asks him for help with her studies, he turns her down after some consideration bc he doesnt believe himself to be smart enough to help (despite having graduated from a university; sports degree or not credit shld be given where credit is due). when he talks to shidou post ktk attack, he refuses to admit doing any of the work in taking care of the situation and instead puts all the praise onto shidou. even his physical strength and skill (which is arguably the one part of him he does acknowledge and take some sort of belief in) is something he treats as less of something that he has achieved himself and more of an obligation of his—like, hes strong bc to him he HAS to be, bc it is expected of him to protect those who need protecting. he does want to protect others, sure, but much of that wanting comes frm how ingrained it is in him that thats what hes good for, thats what his strength is for (his timeline w/ yuno on her bday says as much nyway)

the way i see it, that self deprication of his plays back into his obsession with meeting the expectations placed onto him, or at least lessening the disappointment of others by lessening those expectations in the first place. if u tell someone that u didnt go to the right university, that u didnt do much to help anyway, that u were born so fundamentally wrong as a person that everything is bound to go to shit as long as ur there (he basically said this to es in his t1 vd im not even kidding), wouldnt that ensure the safety that youre less likely to ruin someone elses confidence in you? less likely to ruin bc in the small chance that u still fuck up, theres not much left to ruin at that point

in the end ig what i wish more ppl understood abt kazui is that hes a liar yes, but not a manipulator. he lies to stay safe, not to be a sadist or whatever. you cant take what he says at face value (in much the same way u cant do the same for any other prisoner tbh), but that does not mean u shldnt take anything he says srsly at all!!!

2. ok this one i have to give a bit of thought, mostly bc i cant pick just one

if the standards were which t2 mv do i enjoy for its direction music n visual wise, purge march takes the cake so quickly. the music itself is so bomb (which like, i cant even find a logical explanation as to why… its just so good to listen to) n the mv itself does such a great job at creating the right atmosphere, both in its flashy theatrics and the subtle uncanniness under it. mayb i have a slight bias bc tpm was the whole reason i got into milgram in the first place, but i stand by it idccc

aesthetic wise, def all knowing and all agony. the horror elements r genuinely disturbing, but not so overbearing that it overwrites the pop style that milgram has going on. i luove the use of amber for blood, plus the filters that remind me of found footage u usually see show up in asian horror movies. i think i was actually terrified the first time i watched the mv

symbolic wise, its cat always and forever god bless. it takes advantage of its aesthetics to hint at subtle secrets so well that it makes me giddy as hell. the use of colors as a part of the set, the transitions frm scene to scene having its own part in making the story, n honestly making the bg more blank than usual readjusts the focus of the mv on what matters p well. i cant mention every detail rn or else id be here all day

10. sokka- sokka’s strength was his mind. i love him to death but i think some people really overestimate his physical strength. he was definitely EFFICIENT when it came to fighting but i wouldn’t go any further than that. i feel like since people love sokka (as they should!) they conflate that with his combat ability and tbh i feel like that does his character a disservice. he is the mind of the group he doesn’t need to also be a fighter!

9. long shot- ill be super honest im kind of a freedom fighters hater??? ok not a HATER but i just do not really care when they have screen time. basically what im getting at is i dont remember much of him LOLLLL but like my heart is telling me he was useful and a good fighter. obv his specialty was his archery. but then again he doesn’t do anything to stand out in my mind to make him higher. and i dont remember him really doing anything that’s hand to hand combat.

8. june- so we just dont see much of her but shes got that big sniffer to do like 80% of her fighting for her. i think she doesn’t do much otherwise??? but shes a bounty hunter so shes gotta have some oomph to her.

7. hakoda- ok another person that we dont see MUCH of but we know hes the chief of the southern water tribe and is leading them in the war. and when we do see him fight he slays! we just don’t see it much.

6. asami- literally the 3 fight scenes she has she ROCKS!!!!! but like. why does she…. only have…….. 3 fight scenes…? its so weird. i feel like she is useless when it comes to fight scenes more often than not but idk WHY bc she is a RLY GOOD FIGHTER! her fight scenes genuinely shock me every time bc i forget how good she is. but they hardly show it imo. weird.

5. jet- i was rly close to putting jet at 4 and putting #4 here but HONESTLY the only big feat he has is being able to hold his own against zuko in their 1v1. other than that……doesnt he….. get his ass kicked by everyone else? jet is super resourceful, adaptive, smart, and has great combat skill. he was the leader of the freedom fighters for a reason! i just literally cannot think of a time where he won a fight. am i crazy? idk moving on

4. mai- yeah this diva can throw them mf knives!!!!!! if this show wasnt for kids she wouldve been actually killing bitches but she still gets to use her knives in a cool way! she can go toe to toe with any non bender and tbh a lot of benders too. the fact that AZULA recruits her means she knowssss she can handle herself. she just isnt as impressive as the ppl above her.

3. piandou- a lot of ppl put him at 1 and 2 but i cant do that. he is pretty much THEE master non bender and he is clearly the most skilled swordsman we see in the show. but we dont see him in his prime, and again, im just more impressed by 1 and 2. if we saw more of him maybe i could make a case for him to be higher but the shit that i see numbers 1 and 2 do make him look soft sorry!

2. suki- ugh. love her bad. she is THEEEEE KIYOSHI WARRIOR!!!!!!!!! like. what else do u need me to say. remember that part of boiling rock. when she takes the warden hostage in literal seconds? yeah exactly.

im just kinda let down bc this book requires you to 1. fill in a lot of emotional blanks. like i can fill in the blanks and say the sister took the kidney despite being ready to die earlier bc she already felt like she had to live for her mother or it would be a waste of the sisters legacy. but it wasted so much time on that useless ass love story when it couldve been fleshing out the emotional ramifications of the ending

which leads to point 2. a LOT of the parents shortcomings are just glossed over? the parents emotional neglect 2 out of 3 kids and the 3rd feels like a black hole that's ruined everyone's lives with a disease that's beyond her control but its quite clear to me the author expects us to believe the fitzsgeralds are good ppl just 'doing their best'. like its sooooooooooooo white american early 00s middle class w no care for anyone but themselves it honestly makes me fucking sick. the mother especially like basically had a favorite child and lowkey resented the son for daring to want to be loved and was clear about how the youngest was expendable. and the book emphasizing on how much she mourned 😐ok but u got what u wanted lmaoooo. like im sorry idk where i was supposed to get the feeling that she loved all 3 of her kids at all 😭😭😭😭😭 and then the brother turning his life around all bc his father negated consequences for him AGAIN. not to be a cynic but ppl don't change just with a fucking hug lmaooooo he shouldve gotten 15-20 years. gotten out in 5-10 for good behavior, started a prison outreach program and THEN maybe i'll believe he's changed.

good lord there would be so many overhauls...just so incredibly many I gotta try to break it all down to smaller sections to even get. a glimpse

1) okay so as we have learned Raine was NOT, in fact, under any mind control, just pulling the biggest brained move on Snapdragon she ever did see. so raine doesn't even go missing in the first place, if anything they might halt the notes altogether but still remain in the castle just because they were under constant vigilance and meeting eda again mightve made them triply afraid of getting other people involved with their work. hunter stresses about it, as you do, but flapjack isn't freaking out cause HE'S seen raine's face, and he knows that they're fine, but he has no idea what happened, so Hunter is less concerned since Flapjack isn't. not by a lot tho.

2) so INSTEAD of Hunter booking it to Luz to plead for help on some criminals, he instead takes all of this suppressed fear and worry and stress and just kinda. balls it up. and then shoves all of it out in the open during Eclipse Lake. he goes HARD trying to get that Titan's Blood and the thing where he tried to relate to Amity over being a failure? he doubles down on that shit TREMENDOUSLY and their shared failing to live up to what other ppl wanted and pushing away their friends (granted Amity actually pushed Willow away to try and help, Hunter didn't push Raine away he just thought he did). you think his breakdown in Eclipse Lake was concerning? hes about to make it even more concerning. hes very very afraid for Bat and he would really rather they hate him than anyone found out they'd been talking to him and they got murdered, so he better try and beat the shit out of Amity! if Belos is pleased with him, maybe he'll hesitate on whatever punishment Bat might be having right now

3) Raine, bless 'em, keeps trying to help Hunter how they can, dropping these tiny hints they don't mean to drop. Hunter's part of setting up and preparing everything for the Coven Day Parade and Raine is noticeably always checking in on the Golden Guard. we know now that Hunter started showing his face more after the Palisman incident, but Raine isn't seen around often, so I imagine it's around the Coven Day Parade that they finally see what Hunter looks like--and good lord that IS a literal teenager what the hell did they DO TO HIM---alright scrap all the plans. darius, eberwolf, change of plans. everything stays the same, but we're kidnapping Hunter on the way out

4) Any Sport in a Storm is pretty much the same, Hunter is just even antsier & more desperate to get these new friends to like him bc. Bat. and also punts Darius twice as hard. Darius for his part is only marginally nicer because he knows Raine's weirdly attached to this little rat of a child--oh wait nvm he sees why now. alright valid point. Darius is a firm believer in "for the love of god just tell him you're Bat it will save everyone a lot of stress" but unfortunately Raine subscribes to "if anyone i really care about is within fifty feet of me we are All Going To Die"

5) mostly everything would stay the same in Hollow Mind, i think? Raine, Darius and Eberwolf might actually go up to the Owl House and speak when Hunter and Luz get trapped in Belos's mind since its both Raine and Darius that are stressed as fuck over the kid? in that instance then everyone teams up much quicker (and in confusion) but Hunter still books it out at fast speeds into the woods and somehow makes it to Hexside. he's a slippery little bastard, but luckily now theres a whole gang teamed together to track him down and hes found by Darius pretty quickly after the Owl House is evacuated and torn apart. however Hexside is VERYYYYY on edge over coven heads claiming to want to "help" and "have betrayed the Coven" so they're all beating Darius back like a rabid raccoon and Hunter thinks he's here to kill him. so thats fun. eventually Darius gives up, scruffs Raine, and throws them down at Hexside and demands they finally clear shit up. its a very cute scene of Raine sneaking in and slipping little notes under the door of whatever classroom Hunter's hiding for his life in, wherein he realizes Bat's come back. and Hunter's finally brave enough to yank open the door to---RAINE?????

6) more stuff that mostly stays the same. Hunter however is very stressed over Raine when they're trapped in the human realm which eventually leads to him and Luz talking a lot and him realizing "im sorry waht the fuck do you MEAN that the owl lady and raine whispers were a THING??? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERES STILL SOMETHING THERE????" but above all i want to fuck this boy up so insanely bad and at least give him a GLIMPSE of Raine's puppet body being possessed by Belos. even if there is no interaction other than Hunter seeing them for a brief flash I know in my heart that would fuck him up so bad. he would blame himself so so much. Belos really here to kill everything he loves before he can finally be free huh

7) MOST importantly they finally get to hug when everyones reunited and hunter feels SO INCREDIBLY GUILTY when he sees all the fresh new scars Raine has courtesy of Belos. to which Raine, in peak parent fashion, just goes "nah, i dont mind 'em. now we match :]" and Hunter's just god u are missing the point so badly but i'll let it slide. how'd you know my new scars were from belos. and raine just stares like "how did i know your new scars were from WHAT????? oh im so glad i killed his ass" "YOU DID WHAT"

watched the all of the hatchetfield series recently and had things to say about the way pokotho was handled in the last episode of nightmare time. dunno how much ppl on tumblr care about this but figured i'd post anyway

spoilers for the guy who didn't like musicals and nightmare time 2 episode 4: yellow jacket; slight spoilers for nerdy prudes must die.

in tgwdlm pokotho is established to take over people but like, theyre still individuals. and his goal there seems to be making everyone united and happy. and singing. the singing is an important part of it.

but then in yellow jacket hes like… deep voiced sadistic completely takes over peoples minds and leaves them blank shells. and is said to "want everyone dead except him" which directly contradicts like. everything about what made tgwdlm interesting.

ENDING SCENE COMMENTARY

in my idea of hvkh. hthm is kind of a ‘and then i’ll keep these feelings inside until i die’ kind of guy but also not really. he knows he’s in love but he doesn’t want to say it out loud bc he also knows that saying it when kaveh isn’t ready for it could end badly.

so what he does is show it in other ways. he bickers like usual. he goes to pick him up from the tavern and pay his bill and take him home, take off his makeup and his accessories etc. making little accomodations for him that he wouldn’t for anyone else. that’s the kind of love that he shows.

kvh on the other hand is the …. hmmge…. dunno how to word it properly but the ‘if i let myself be loved then i let myself be known.’ kind of guy. or something. it’s not that he doesn’t return hthm’s feelings! or even not know what it means! but he doesn’t want to accept them for what they actually are bc… if he does, then it also means confronting the fact that someone actually Cares about him [jawdrop.jpg]. and that person is like. the most annoying person you have ever known but also like the only person who perfectly matches you beat for beat and makes you Feel. feelings. horrendous.

so bc of that i did Not actually choose to put in words the big L word . Yes they do Confess, but in the theme of things, it’s more Actions speak louder than Words. it is also more wow. both me and alhaitham would probably break out in hives if he straight up said it like that. i would much rather let the two of them be the ‘act’ and the ‘react’.

i also think that kaveh is someone who loves romantic gestures and even though what happened was romantic (kind of) lots of things happened that made it also. really weird. so while its p much acceptance of feelings he also wants to have a chance to properly convey things and have a heartfelt romantic dramatic speech etc. after he's prepared. that's the proper answer part.

Top 3 Shows to Introduce People to BL

From bottom to top, as usual, guys.

Number 3: Not Me

Is it a BL? Technically, yes. The main characters are men who do eventually make a queer couple. Is it the main point of this story? Not even close. It's much more about literally everything else (and it fucking slaps there).

Not Me, I think, it's good for ppl who don't know its workings to get accustomed to some clichés in BL, like, just to list a few:

Enemies to Lovers;

Weirdly Agressive Tops;

Infantilized Bottoms;

"I Don't Like Men, I Like Him";

Biker Bisexuals (not just Sean but also White bc he DOES start the series with a whole-ass gf, let's not forget. also Black if you analyse the homoerotic relationship he has with Todd [which, in my opinion, is pretty fucking hard to miss]);

Nearly Women-less Worlds;

Taking Care of Each Other's Wounds...

While, at the same time, not being an extremely couple-centric story. So it gives ppl some opening to explore the world without being too overwhelmed.

On the other hand, I do think the main couple is extremely underdeveloped and that can be pretty discouraging. Both in my 1st watch alone and the 2nd I'm doing rn with some friends it's striking how SeanWhite just kinda fucking happens and no one really gets why or how. They only get in each other's way then they suddenly attend a pride demonstration together, Sean decides to tell White his traumas and suddenly they're fucking in a tent in an abandoned building. Kinda out of nowhere.

For that reason it only gets 3rd place.

Number 2: Bad Buddy

It is such a breezy ride you forget Pat gets shot and almost charged with firearm possession at a certain point.

For that reason, I think it's a nice way to ease ppl into the genre.

Plus Ohm and Nanon served some of the best acting and chemistry in the industry it really translates well to the viewer.

I do think, though, that some of its better points might be lost on newbies. For nothing else but the fact it plays around a lot of the clichés we normally see around these parts and, if you're unfamiliar with them, the play and criticism might pass you by.

Hence: 2nd place.

Number 1: Moonlight Chicken

It's one of my absolute all-time favourite series. And it's for a reason.

Most of the clichés don't really happen. And when they do (like the love triangle and the ex from hell tropes), they're explored in such a different light that it feels natural that they're there and I'm not even upset.

If you want someone to get into this craziness, you have to start by showing them the best this store has to offer. That's it.

Plus it's shorter than usual so it's good for beginners in that aspect as well.

(which personally i think is the case here but at the same time no harm in having lil crush on they teammates) again wouldnt be surprised if say lee know or hyunjin had some attraction to a teammate of theirs. its weird bc sometimes u think a ship is real but then u remind urself of the word fansservice and then u never know if they are actually together or not but sometimes it just look more than the avwrage ship in their grouo yaknow?

So, I got a mixed bag when I did the overall group, so had to do it individually.

I.N (2 of Cups) Changbin (King of Wands) and Felix (4 of Wands) seem like they like it the most.

Lee know (3 of Pentacles) sees it as part of the job, may use it for career opportunities.

The others seem indifferent Hyujin (8 of Pentacles/4 of Pentacles) It is like it is work based, he may see it as something that preserves his career and helps advance it. Seungmin (2 of Swords) may not care for it and will go the other direction or oppose it if it is mentioned. Han, of course doesn't give me much, a very confusing answer (Death rv/6 of Swords rv) not sure what to make of that. It is like he can't move on from it, or let go, it doesn't give me anything about him liking it or not though.

Bangchan (5 of Pentacles/9 of Swords) Hates it.

When I do my thoughts on an Idol part 2 for them I will clarify more into this, since I will ask about this.
