One of my favorite parts of phase 2 (and indeed one of the few moments I resonated with IDW Prowl) was when the neutrals were coming back to Cybertron and Prowl said that he refused to let Autobots be pushed aside and overruled after they were the ones who fought for freedom for 4 million years (the exact wording escapes me atm).

And I mean, that resentment still holds true even once the colonists come on bc like. As much as it's true that Cybertron's culture is fucked up, and as funny as it can be to paint Cybertronians as a bunch of weirdos who consider trying to kill someone as a common greeting not important enough to hold a grudge over.... The colonists POV kind of pissed me off a lot of times, as did the narrative tone/implications that Cybertronians are forever warlike and doomed to die by their own hands bc it just strikes me as an extremely judgemental and unsympathetic way to deal with a huge group of people with massive war PTSD and political/social tensions that were rampant even before the war?

Like, imagine living in a society rife with bigotry and discrimination where you get locked into certain occupations and social strata based on how you were born. The political tension is so bad there's a string of assassinations of politicians and leaders. The whole planet erupts into an outright war that leads (even unintentionally) to famine and chemical/biological warfare that destroys your planet. Both sides of the war are so entrenched in their pre-war sides and resentment for each other that this war lasts 4 million years and you don't even have a home planet any more. Then your home planet gets restored and a bunch of sheltered fucks come home and go "ewww why are you so violent?? You're a bunch of freaks just go live in the wilderness so that our home can belong to The Pure People Who Weren't Stupid And Evil Enough To Be Trapped In War" and then a bunch of colonists from places that know nothing about your history go "lol you people are so weird?? 🤣🤣 I don't get why y'all are fighting can't you just like, stop??? Oh okay you people are just fucked up and evil and stupid then" ((their planets are based on colonialism where their Primes wiped out the native populations btw whereas the Autobots and OP in particular fought to save organics. But that never gets brought up as a point in their favor)) as if the damage of a lifetime of war and a society that was broken even before the war can just magically go away now that the war is over.

Prowl fucking sucks but he was basically the only person that pointed out the injustice of that.

And then from then on out most of the characters from other colonies like Caminus and wherever else are going "i fucking hate you and your conflicts" w/ people like literal-nobody Slide and various Camiens getting to just sit there lecturing Optimus about how Cybertronians are too violent for their own good and how their conflicts are stupid, with only brief sympathetic moments where the Cybertronians get to be recognized as their own ppl who deserve sympathy before going right back to being lambasted.

Like I literally struggled to enjoy the story at multiple points because there was only so much I could take of the characters I knew and loved being raked over coals constantly while barely getting to defend themselves or be defended by the narrative so like. It was just fucking depressing and a little infuriating to read exRID/OP

pondering about how The Untamed was the healthiest hyperfixation i've ever had, and it lasted the longest of one and half years. the dudes i usually fall for are evil and fucked up, while Lan Zhan was the rarer occurrence of the kindest man ever. also The Untamed was such a cool thing to affect my mind, because wangxian are all about kids and marriage, and made me have good realistic dreams that align with my own desires and values. on other hand all those evil insane men i imprint on should be kept a kilometre away from babies so that's another thing

World Building: Crux Demonbeast Sanctuary

The Crux Factory is located on a small planet within the eastern parent of the Southern Region of space. The smallest planet of a multiple gas giant solar system, Crux is covered in a dense yellow atmosphere and covered in methane oceans. The only habitable spots on Crux being a number of small climatized domes dotting the surface on the few patches of land. From space and without proper equipment, it would simply look like a completely uninhabitable world.

However, during the height of the war, it was an Nightmare Enterprises claimed planet that housed multiple factories, utilizing the nitrogen and ammonium compounds from the atmosphere and methane from the oceans to make various explosives, fuel, ammo and other weapons and ammunition for the war. It was also the site of two laboratories, which created the sasuke demonbeasts to use in order to staff the factory with free labour.

Crux was managed by manager and scientist Dr Ayelech Sanus, who was in the process of training her son Majang Sanus to be her successor.

Crux met its end after the escape of one of the sasuke workers, who managed to get off the planet and went to the GSA, offering information in return for the freedom of his people and the destruction of the factories. Determined to change the tide of the war by removing NME’s main access to ammunition and fuel (after all, your enemies can’t fly ships and can’t shoot at you nearly as much if they have a sudden shortage of fuel or bullets) the GSA agreed and launched a nuclear attack on Crux, deteriorating within the interiors of the domes and destroying the factories and structures within.

Reports say there was no NME survivors that did not catch wind evacuate beforehand. However what most didn’t know, and would never learn was that there was on survivor, Majang.

Majang spent a lot of time trapped within the fallout bunkers his mother had locked him into. The radiation from the attack changed him overtime, giving him his unusual appearance.

Eventually he did manage to get out, and emerged into a destroyed world. The mountain that they had been mining had collapsed in the blast, burying several of the buildings, including the one he was in. It took a lot of digging and rigging old drilling equipment but little by little he made his way to other buildings, including the communications center. After several attempts to restore some kind of power to the equipment he was able to turn on the logs and was greeted with the records stating he was dead and Crux had been destroyed.

He spent a couple days pondering what to do with himself, obviously going back to NME and declaring he was in fact not dead was an option. He explored more of the ruins and built more tunnels to other buildings, eventually reaching Alpha Containment. It dawned on him that Ayelech had never let him in here before, and that’s one thing about being dead on paper he would find time and time again, you can do whatever you want. And he went inside and explored the various containment chambers, and to his surprise he found another survivor. Only, the survivor wasn’t a person, but a massive, massive demonbeast.

A massive building sized chained creature, eyes blinded. Demonbeasts did not need to eat, they did not need sleep, they would not die without either. This creature, a creature known as a riftwrath, a powerful demonbeast of the wrath type demonbeast line, had been left to rot.

Majang started to speak with the monster, or rather it would speak by taking control of him to use his body to make words. Which, albeit very unsettling at first, was something Majang got used to. The two struck a very unlikely bond, the creature was named Rodger by Majang, and Rodger shared his stories of the cruelty and suffering he had endured at the hands of NME. Now Majang has been raised by NME his entire life, he was born into the company, his mother taught him everything he knew and that included the belief that NME was doing the right thing and that demonbeasts were simply just tools to be used.

But Rodger frankly shattered that view.

Majang, after a couple more weeks of thinking, finally got the idea of what he wanted to do with his newfound freedom. He wouldn’t be going back to NME, he’d rebuild this place. But instead of a factory, it was going to be a sanctuary. Rodger agreed to be his right hand monster in the operation, and with Majang’s permission used Majang’s body to see the world to open up rifts to other planets so Majang could leave.

Over the next several years Majang and Rodger fixed up Crux, Majang rebuilt as much as he could and got much of the equipment back online. He turned it into a true demonbeast sanctuary for him to care for monsters, treat them of injury sustained from war and lab testing, and humanly study them to better understand them. As the war raged on he dodged both NME and the star warriors, capturing demonbeasts to take back to the sanctuary to spare them from the war and experimentation or death at the hands of the rebel forces.

The location of the planet is still kept secret and Majang has lived there as the only non demonbeast for a long time now, his ability to interact with people having greatly diminished. He’d still be kind to others if he met them, and would even offer them to stay at Crux if they needed a place to run and hide, providing they wouldn’t hurt his monsters.

He’s content to continue doing this for the rest of his life, expanding and bettering his sanctuary, and furthering his understanding of the monsters who call it home.

i'm 100% that person who has a mental list of hcs regarding how all of my muses would or do get along with each other ( especially muses within the same fandom or who have crossovers ) and will always be up for throwing more than one into a thread if the situation demands it or just plotting big interconnected things that don't just involve a back and forth between two characters

hi, i hope it's okay to ask this, what do vertical and horizontal investment refer to?

yeah ofc it's okay! basically

vertical investment: focusing on making a few units very strong. so for genshin stuff like getting character constellations, their signature weapons, maybe even C6R5, triple crowning, the best artifacts, building supports specifically for them, etc.

horizontal investment: focusing on building a bunch of units even if only to mediocrity. so like leveling everyone to at least 70+, only focusing on some talents, giving everyone artifacts even if they're not that great, etc. you might not have the strongest characters ever but everyone is usable

the spiral abyss is well suited for vertical investment bc ultimately you just need two sides that hit really hard

//I just finished watching all of Dark Beginnings and first of all, ANIMATION GOES HARD AF I couldn't stop smiling at the action scenes, secondly, omg...just, Shadow deserves to try and have some closure or resolution. I know the many times they go back and forth with his story in the past games, I just hope that somehow this little storyline of his for Generations will help him even when Black Arms is returning. After everything, the boy just needs to focus on himself in the present, not constantly reaching back to his past. Cause he is more than just an edgy, tragic character and I want them to focus solely on HIM being HIMSELF. Not just a character with a sad past that always follows him. Though I do love they added more to Maria and his platonic/sibling relationship and just the vibe and conditions living in the ARK cause I did wonder about that sometimes.

Also I've heard about how Sonic is kind of similar to Maria and that I found this canon he is one of the few people who can reach further to help Shadow open up...but ALSO this headcanon I found about him being a potential reincarnation of Maria. It's a silly idea, but it's kind of cute thinking about how both have some similarities and if Maria were alive, they'd get along SO WELL and just talk good things about Shadow.
